T-Bird gets the Feather!

Thanks Steve for the new thread.

Mixed feelings today. The long weekend brought Nelson two major car accidents on the highway and a drowning of a 64 year old man. The lake is so high and they have been issuing warnings about water safety...
It is also a time where there is a good flow of energy and there are many who are sharing and simply being and a sense of wellness within it all.
So mixed feelings...Release the sadness and celebrate the wellness is what I am working on.

I have not read back so will go do so right now...
I want to do some cooking today and also tend to the plants...

Hoda said...

Indeed very good to see LINDA on and always a joy to know that you arew well and simply being busy is why you have not posted.

A new fresh thread was unexpected but welcomed I just took a trip to Walmart and then CVS. Only purchases 2 items at the first stop and 23 more items at the second stop and a birthday card for my soon to be 22 year old gs.
At least I got my walk in and I enjoy pushing a shopping cart rather then a walker for support! The heat is 'Hot as Haiti' today. I am now putting my walking feet up for an hour!

OH Heavens Team Canada's Women Soccer team faces off TEAM USA today...formidable opponent I would say we have...USA defending champions and Canada is an upstart team that defeated UK as they are having a formidable tournament...Wishing BOTH teams well.

Just caught up with yesterday and today here. It thrills me to read about all the good times and projects taking place amongst my Eagle Buds !

Prayers continue for Jewels and family as they give their dear Grandma Riner a good send off.

My progress is slow but sure. Have been able to decrease the pain killer intake and am using the cane more than the walker now. Looks like I'll make it !☺

Thinking of our Eagle family with love and like you, JO, I'll always miss Liberty. Have to be happy that Shep was able to step up to the plate though. Hope our 2012-2013 season is just as rewarding as this past season was !!!

Love and prayers. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Want to give the report on funeral, procession to the cemetery and the burial for Grandma Bessie, so I'll be composing that for a minute or two

magpie said...

The funeral was nicely done, Kind Pastor, with good comforting words, and consoling scriptures, said many nice things about Bessie, and the family.....
There was quite a number of people there, large family it is, and many friends as well. The funeral procession....we go through town with headlights and four way flashers on...many people respectfully stop, which is an old-time and sometimes forgotten tradition. But even with that, Grandma Bessie gained the respect and reverence from many thoughtful strangers. Police escort at the final intersections was helpful also.
Christie and Carolyn....received hugs and well wishes from us all....
and appreciate the love that flows from this group.
♥ Love to Christie ♥ Carolyn ♥ and Lynn ♥ forever....

I want to certainly say, that I did not mean any offense to anyone about the use of netting....
the article mainly addressed the irresponsible use of it....with contractors, landscapers and such...but also suggested that when the growing season is over, to remove any and all netting, and also suggested alternatives such as jute....
I know everyone HERE is responsible...but he had some sad examples to cite, including things with chipmunks, squirrels, turtles, and so on....

magpie said...

I'm a little off-schedule so won't be able to check some of these links that are posted....maybe later on I can get to some of that...

So Thanks in Advance for what I know is important...

I have been seeing some monarchs, but they are frisky and not lighting long for pictures....

RE: Netting
It was an eye opener of a weekend - caught both the snake & a bird. Have removed netting, covered most vulnerable plants with the wire cloches and for others used firm chicken wire bent in a long teepee shape. Live & learn!

magpie said...

it's good you were there for the snake, CarolAnne......
the article I read even extended to impaired or in-trouble raptors....which had preyed upon disabled mammals from entanglement.....

but he was also sympathetic to gardener's needs also.....

Good evening,

Checked Hunter's lunch box awhile ago. The Lunchable had been demolished. Only thing left was a smear of ranch dressing. Guess he got hungrier than he thought he might.

He had football practice this evening, and there was hardly time for a snack before he went.

He and Kathryn are out visiting friends this evening. Will and I are holding down the fort. I am watching the Olympics.

Dropping in for a quick "Howdy" before I call it a day, early.
It's been quite hot and humid here at this roost today. Humidity at 71%.

Margy, thank you for your report of Grandma Bessie's funeral. Glad you were able to pass along Momster hugs for us!

Shirley, I figured that Hunter's Lunchable would be gone! I get such a kick out of your stories about him.

Kay, so glad to see you here! That's wonderful that you're making enough progress to be using a cane instead of a walker! Way to go! ((HUGS))!! You're needing a lower dose of meds, too! FANTASTIC!

Well, think I'm going to head to the bedroom, where the fan is!

Good Tuesday morning my eagle friends!

Glad to see Linda and Kay on the blog yesterday!

Kay, wonderful news about the cane versus walker and about reducing your meds. Slow progress is still progress - hard to be patient, I know!

Margy, thanks for the summary of Carolyn's Grandmom's funeral - I'm sure that first aster bloom really made you smile since they are from your James!! My cardinal flowers are a little behind b/c my rain garden is in a very shady spot, but they're getting very pretty!

Never did get any rain yesterday - had to put the sprinkler on my hydrangeas - they were so wilty.

Spending today with my BFF and her hubby - not sure what we'll get into - Denny is working. Will go out on the boat this afternoon. Have a great day all!

Judie said...

Good early morning!

Up early as today is a busy day in our neighborhood. I think I mentioned today is a National day out against crime and so our community has ongoing neighborhood watch activities and patrols all day followed by an outdoor pot luck dinner. So, Darth will be manning the "watch" activities and I will be cooking our contributions.

Wishing everyone an especially lovely day. BB when I can. (:

glo said...

Good morning everyone. Good news form Kay. You are doing good. Keep working on it one step at a time.

Disconnected my Direct TV last night. Just locals and a few extras here now. I am not a TV watcher. I htink the money I am not spending to not watch 150 channels I will use for a Smartphone. BUT I am so dumb in that area I have no clue what to get. I sort of think i need to wait until late fall when they try to unload a bunch of the "old" ones, to promote their new got to have for Christmas versions. Then i think i will ask Santa for a Kindle Fire and hear they are upgrading those a couple of times in the near future. Maybe wait til spring AFTER Eagle season here for that one. If anyone has any input on Smartphones and good plans please let me know. Send me email or fb message. I will value any info you have to offer. Off to coffee and dog treats. HAGD.

Good Tuesday Morning, My Friends!

Another busy day for me yesterday, but got a lot accomplished. Seems like I have more and more "tax situations" to deal with even in the "off" months.

So wonderful to hear some news from KAY. I know this has been such a tough year for you, Kay. You're in my thoughts and prayers!! xoxo

Shirley - I guess the camp lunches are just a warm up for the upcoming school lunches!! Nice wallpaper choices, too! What room?

Margy - As always, thank you for the summary of the services for Bessie yesterday. So many losses this year. There must be a lot of celebrations in Heaven, though!

Judie - Enjoy the Neighborhood Watch day with your neighbors. Any chance you'll be baking some of those AWESOME chocolate chip cookies for the event?? I think yours are the best I've ever had! :)

We had a significant cool down here yesterday and last night. It was so nice to open the windows and be cool, even though it will climb back up in the coming days again!

Riley must have stepped in a hole and ripped more of his ACL. He was panting and could barely lie down, he was in so much pain last night. Poor baby! His knee is clicking when he walks. Today isn't much better.

Wishing everyone a blessed day today and always!!

xoxo

Good morning! Today I start on the baby shower preparations. Need to find pretty napkins and after that order a cake. I thought about doing the cake myself, but with my back "iffy" decided not to push it. Pink and butterflies is the way to go. Jack is making a pink name train "Allie", so that will be the centerpiece. Going to keep it simple...cake, fruit, and seasoned pecans. Oh, and thinking of big glasses of pink lemonade. (It is so hot...forget little glasses of punch!)

I am longtime friends with the grandmother of the mother to be. I also gave a baby shower when the mother to be was expected! Oh, I am getting up there! Yikes!

Do not recall Luna eating homework, but she ate one of my tomatoes yesterday. I heard Will hollering at her. When I couldn't find one of the tomatoes I'd just bought, I learned that Will had managed to save the other one, but I would need to wash off some basset slobber.

Now I know what happened to the tomato that disappeared a few days ago. Hunter and I are the only ones who eat raw tomatoes--except for the dogs.

Not sure tomatoes are good for dogs.

stronghunter said...

Oh dear, yes, I see that tomatoes are not good for dogs.

Life is different today. Dex and i are home, thats not different but well lets just say I don't leave much at all these days. Direct TV is all unhooked and waiting for it's return box. Pandora is playing oldies on my TV through my Roku. Which I think I will like just fine. 2 Tv's now get locals and some old classic stations that I have always loved anyway. They are many of them the old black and white. Fine with me. I finished a Netflix trial before the Olympics and will do a Hulu Plus . After that my guess is I will sign up for AMazon Prime whether or not I choose to add Netflix or Hulu Plus. So far there has been no input on Smart Phones and I would love to do some informed research but i can google away. If anyone has any opinions on Netflis versus Hulu Plus versus Amazon Prime that too would sure be helpful. Since I am a kIndle user already and planning to upgrade to a New Kindle Fire sometime in the next 6 months or so I think Amazon Prime makes sense. I can even send my kids Christmas Gifts without the stupid shipping charges all the time. It's whether or not to add one of the others is my dilemna.

Sandi said...

Glo, I can't offer any opinion about smartphones/iphones b/c I'm not eligible for an upgrade til November. So right now, I have a phone that just does talking and texting. Sharon and Bev have iphones, I think Lolly and Andy do as well, so does Linda, and Hoda just bought one.

As for the Kindle Fire, I've had mine for about 5 months and love it! When you get it, you'll get 1 month of Amazon Prime as a free trial, but it's def. worth the $79 a year, as it gives you access to libraries of free books and movies that you have to pay for when you don't have Amazon prime, plus you get the free 2-day shipping when you buy anything thru amazon.com (I buy a LOT from there).

Waiting for Denny and Keith to come back from Lowes so the 4 of us can take the boat out and head down to Ocean Pines Yacht Club to eat outside at the pool bar.

Mema Jo said...

Sharon, so sorry there is pain that is slowing you down! Do you expect it to clear up by non-usage of your right hand or are you thinking of any surgery? Sorry for the pain! ♥

Mema Jo said...

I am home and ready to do what I usually do - put up my feet!
Had a really great time with my girls at Panera's.

It isn't unbearable out today - humidity is down for a change.

glo said...

Thanks Sandi Can you see your Kindle Fire outside. I know not in the sun, but in the shade? So are all the movies at Amazon streamed free once you join or do you rent them for like 99cents each or are there some of both. Are they old, or current choices. I put a feeler out on my FB status so maybe I will get some info there.

Lolly said...

Glo, I love my iphone. I can get on fb and the blog from anywhere. Like sharing pictures to fb from my phone...so easy!

Just got back from running errands. So excited that I found the napkins for the baby shower. I found what I wanted on line and then found them at the first store I went to. Then went to Sweet Imaginations and they are making a cake to match the napkins...pink and butterflies!

Judie said...

Hi everyone.

Linda, sorry but no chocolate chips -- too hot. Making spicy home-made meatballs as an appetizer. Just dump them in a throw-away container with a bunch of tooth picks.
Sorry that Riley is hurting. Hope for quick healing.

Not feeling as if I want to attend. It just is so unpleasant with so much heat and humidity and, sadly, so many of the originals are no longer with us. We'll see.

Shirley, either Audrey or Grace put some teeth marks into a couple of tomatoes. Cut off the damaged side. Now keep them out-of-sight.

Glo, can't help with the electronics. Just mastering mouse>point>click. Hope Dex is doing okay today.

Jo, will you please adopt me? I love Panera. Glad you had a fun day.

Sharon, so sorry about the injury. Did used to be a program for computers that allowed the user to speak and the words were typed onto the screen. May that still exists but even more sophisticated. Might help.

Sad news about the death of Marvin Hamlish. He will be missed.

Okay, bye for now.

Kay said...

Good afternoon, Eagle Buds !

LOLLY, what wonderful plans you have for a precious baby girl shower ! Matching cake and napkins, pink and butterfly theme and pink lemonade ! Perfect !

JO, what could be better than a Panera's lunch with one's lovely daughters ? I'm hungry for their mac n' cheese ! Hoping to get there soon with my Julie n' Eileen !

SHAR, do hope the meds and rest make for quick healing. Is this an occupational hazard ?

SANDI, MARGY, ANDY, SHIRLEY, JO, LINDA, HODA, LORI, the list goes on.....Thank you ever so much for the encourageing and comforting words. Meds, rest, exercise, great family care all go a long way, but the love expressed by good friends is also a vital ingredient in this healing process !

You're all in my thoughts and prayers daily !!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Glo,
I use my Kindle Fire at the beach, even in the sun. Indoors, I set the pages to a light tan color with dark brown print - less contrast so easier on my eyes. Outdoors, I just switch to white pages with black letters to create more contrast.

With Amazon Prime, part of Amazon's digital library of videos is free to those with a subscription, but not all - others cost $.99 or $2.99 or $3.99. Same with books - some are free, others cost. But as for books (I don't watch a lot of movies and, if I do, I much prefer to watch on my 52 inch TV than my Kindle), there are more free ones than I could ever read, as you probably already know. There's a Facebook page called Pixel of Ink that, once you "like" it, will post free books with summaries every single day on your FB wall.

Sharon, so sorry to hear about the tendonitis. What caused it? Did you injure yourself?

Kay said...

HI JUDIE ! I knew I shouldn't start listing names. Too easy to miss someone and sure enough I did. I loved your sweet words on my behalf, too.

I hadn't heard about Marvin Hamlish. I'll have to go to the news to read about it. The music world has lost a great composer and pianist !

Hope you can go to the outing tonight, at least for a quick snack. I'm sure you and Darth are an important part of those neighborhood functions.

WANDA, my thoughts are with you and GG today. She is so blessed to have a devoted daughter and you are so blessed to have the love of a wonderful mother ! What's cookin' for the soup kitchen tonight ?

Sandi Had no clue about Pixels of ink. I shall go there. Also love your info on being able to read your Fire outside. Being home and in so much with Dex now i need out when the weather will let me. I have a nice shaded pergola where I would love to be able to read. Not sure how many movies I would rent either but i might occasional rent those 99 cent ones for outside. I would just as soon go to Redbox for a DVD if i am going to be inside and enjoy the bigscreen.

Great day JO...I am glad you had a good time
JUDIE I think like others have said your attendance at the potluck will add a great deal of class and liven up the event. I hope you go.

Hunter came home with an empty lunchbox again today. They went to Lake Anna today.

He went straight to the kitchen where he "snacked" on leftover ribs and ice cream with whipped cream.

Then he went to football practice.

We will see if he wants any dinner.

SHARON so sorry for the pain in your hand

JIM always movin along LOL Hey JIM

I love tomato raw like eating a apple and with some mayo, onions, salt and pepper on a plate mummy

GLO is direct with your puter to or just TV my cable is all three TV, Phone and Cable 100 a month not bad I think when my phone bill alone was 58

BABY Shower LOLLY I have a idea if you want to use it we got it from the internet was a good idea and useful Get cloth diapers and non toxic washable markers have each guest design a burp cloth for the mom to use We all need burp cloths and the prefolded diapers are the best and she will have something from each one from the shower to remember and Jordyn played with her for the longest time tooo We used clip boards to draw on I use this idea for every babyshower I go to makes a nice gift in it self

I remembered to check out google today and so far everyday of the Olympic tooo cool

JudyEddy said...

LOLLY they said to use a onsie to paint but the babies out grow them so fast I came up with the idea of the burp cloths

glo said...

No Judy While I had Direct I did not bundle it with my phone and internet. The phone bill will disappear as well when I get my Smart Phone at least I think it will. Not necessarily though. here the bundle plans are good for 1 yr but then they sock it to you and you are locked into a 2 year contract. Anyway I am happy and now on a new frontier deciding on what to use on my roku and what smart phones to look into etc.

funny thing GLO I just opened up todays mail from my cable and my 2 years is up and it only going up to 114 so that not bad I just got to call them if I want if I wonder if I don't call what it will be HMMMM food for thought

Good Evening!

Happy to report that Riley is moving around much better this evening. We have him on enteric coated aspirin every 12 hours and it seems to be helping. Thanks for your concern!

Shar - Not happy to hear about the tendonitis!! That is no fun. I used to have to wear braces quite often and had to sleep with them, too because my hands fell asleep and would be numb when I awoke! That medrol dosepak works like a charm!

Linda said...

Glo - I don't know what you are looking to find out about the smartphone, but I do love the iphon, too. There are a few things that are annoying with regards to the sensitivity of the phone. Sometimes I will make a call without realizing it or disconnect as well. It takes a little getting used to!

I love Siri since I live in an area where I don't know where things are!! I can push the button and tell Siri to find a certain place or address and it takes me to the map app, which is great! We used the map app while driving to and from FL.

There are some great weather apps that show you radar.

You can talk to text, if you text.

You can talk to email, too!!

As Lolly mentioned, you can go to FB or the blog, too. I don't do everything like some do with my iphone because I am home a lot and prefer to work with the bigger computer screen, but when I am not at home, I can look up anything on the web wherever I am.

To me, though, it is a luxury that I don't know if I really need or not. The cost to have data adds $30 to the monthly plan and you HAVE to have a data plan with a smartphone. My son talked me into it (my techie) and I do enjoy it, but often wonder if I should do away with it. I just don't want to give up the iphon!!

Linda said...

Your iphone (4S or newer versions) can be a mobile hot spot if you need one for a month or so at a time.

I do have the ipad and I do a LOT of reading on that. It is super fast and lighted very nicely if you have difficulty reading in low light, which is the case with me. I am on the blog from my ipad (with a wireless keyboard) and it is like a featherweight laptop! My laptop is much heavier.

I do all my Bible Reading, research and book reading with the ipad - or as much as I can, because it is so much easier than holding a heavier book!! You just have to have internet for some of the online apps.

That is probably the same as with the Kindle Fire for online apps. Any books you download can be read without wifi.

Hope this adds to the information you've already read!!

Linda said...

And with that.........I bid you a Good Night!!

Wishing you all restful sleep and SED!!!

Love and prayers all around!!

I'm going to say GOOD NIGHT early now, have some much-cherished reading to do.

Excellent yoga practice. Very good to see LINDA on again and I am glad Riley is better.
I too love my iphone but it does cost money GLO...perhaps it is only the Canadian plan but my phone is only fifty dollars cheaper than when I had a land line...I use up minutes and data very fast. I find that when wi-fi is not on it adds up and my wi-fi is not available away from my computer and I can not pick the signal in very many places around Nelson...could be different in the city is what I understand.
I am glad you are having a good evening JO...

Hoda said...

I have wi-fi in the flat and as far as where I park my car, but further than that I use up data...

Watching the Olympics!

Forgot to mention..while at Laurel's I saw armadillo damage in her front yard and flowerbeds. Knock on wood....we have not had an armadillo so far. What I do have is squirrel damage to the lawn. After I water they dig holes to lie in as it is so hot. Poor things!

I have never seen a squirrel dig a hole to lie in because of heat, Lolly. That is really something. Goodness.

Lolly said...

Shirley, they like damp bare dirt and lay flat very still. I have one spot beneath a tree that is a favorite as I water the grass frequently to get it to spread over that bare area. Tonight I found a fresh spot in the middle of the back yard. They do not do a lot of damage, so I do not mind.

Time to hit the pillow! Night all!

SED!!!

stronghunter said...

Stopping in to say good night. I will see you tomorrow.

SED, everyone.

No, I would not begrudge the squirrels a little cool spot in my yard, either.

I have seen them drape themselves over the railing around the deck.

Goodnight.

stronghunter said...

Well, as hot as it has been this summer, I might dig a hole to lie in if I did not have air conditioning.

Hi, Everyone,

Boy, it was nasty weather here today! High was about 97, and I suspect the humidity was about the same. If we had any squirrels here, they would be digging moon craters, I'm sure! Emma was smart--she slept almost all day! It was just too miserable to do much of anything. They're saying it will be 104 here by Saturday. I hope they are wrong!

Linda, I'm glad Riley is feeling better tonight. Hope he heals quickly.

Shar, hope and pray that you'll heal quickly, too! How is Thelma doing? Is her ankle back to normal yet? Sure hope so!

Well, I'm going to call it a day.
Gotta head to the bedroom, where a big fan is running. Just too hot anywhere else. It's still 75 outside, and the house hasn't cooled down much--80 in the kitchen.

Have said prayers for everyone, and for every creature, especially our furbabies. (Lynne2, hope the orphan kitties are doing OK.) The porch light is on, and both security systems are enabled. Sleep well, with SED. God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you!

Good morning eagle friends!

A super busy day yesterday and it will be for the rest of the week. My Mom and niece, Kilee, are here this week. THEN, by brother and his wife are expected to join us at my small house Thursday or Friday through the weekend. They want to help me paint! Crazy, huh!?

SHAR, I hope your hand feels better today.

LINDA, glad Riley is on the up and up and you found something that helps him.

KAY, it always makes my day to see your posts and feeling better!

GLO, happy others can be of help with your electronics decisions...I've got an old Blackberry and wouldn't know what to pick if I had to get something new!

I sure miss our nest and the eagles in it!!!

Good mid week morning one and all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My gal pals boogied outta here @ 4:25 this morning. They are on their way to N.C. to go stay at a ranch for a few days, horse back riding and such, then home. I will see them again in 3 weeks, so I am doing okay. I so enjoyed their visit.....Its just so nice to see them.....and to just talk talk talk talk until I can talk no more! :)

We worked on a project I wanted to do for my Reiki classes yesterday, but had needed 2 people, one to pose, one to take pix. I had two people and they were more than willing to help! I have no where to put my massage table up in my house, so we did this outside. It was hot and humid and we were all glad it took less than 30 min!!!

GLO: I could so do with out most tv. When I am home alone, the darn thing isn't on. I have a couple of evening shows that I watch, but they are local tv. Tom is my tv buff. I see mostly news and weather. That's just about the extent of my must see tv. I do like SURVIVOR and such, but again, its "regular" stations.

Mostly, I am on the computer or, I read. I love to read. Or I play in my plants or have projects going on.

LOLLY: the baby shower plans and the cake sound so wonderful!

Another hazy, hot, and humid day in Nashville. Hard to believe. August...2nd week of school. The humidity has been really bad the last week or so . I think by the weekend we will be better though.

I had to laugh yesterday. We went over to my daughters so she could show her house off to my gal pals......and of course the kids were in school. Their one dog, Sugar, was having fits to say hello to me so I walked outside, picked her up and snuggled her for a few min. Well, guess what she likes to do. I bought the kids a fairly big wading pool while they were staying here and now it is at their house. Sugar, who is a boston terrier mix, likes the wading pool. She gets in and lies down and cools off!!!!! I need to tell Chelsea to get me a pix of THAT! ALL of my dogs HATE water! lol.

Okay, time to get busy .....have a great day all. Hugs, light, love and healing to all ! :) SMILES!

Morning, all!

Good Morning!

LORI - that will surely be a houseful, but I am sure it will be good for you to have family there. It's always a good feeling to be together! (As long as you like your family!!) Treasure the moments!! Riley thanks you!!

Andy - Thanks to you, too!! Riley seems to be doing better. He is stiff and can't stretch like he usually does, but that is a combination of getting older (He's 11) and the tear!

Have to go in to work today in town! Am ready to go, but was thinking how wonderful if I could get SHIRLEY to pack my lunch, since she is so thoughtful about how she goes about it!! Then for dinner if I could go to see WANDA and GENE at the Soup Kitchen, I'd be all set for my food requirements for today!!

Great news on the SK and the Clothes Closet, Wanda!!

KAY - You are in my thoughts and prayers every day.......not just the days I say so!! Hoping each day gets a little better and that you will be free of all canes, walkers and therapy soon!! Keep up the good work and know you are LOVED!!! xoxox

Okay, I must get outa here!

Make it a great day!
