Good morning everyone. Haven't watched any weather yet so not sure where or how the storm Isaac is doing. I do hope all out there remain safe. No real plans here this weekend. All is well and well is indeed very good. HAGD everyone.

Good morning! Today I clean the trailer and boy is it a mess. Yes, little boys do track in!!!

We are keeping the trailer for a few days as Jack is going to be doing some work on it. We are looking forward to getting a new trailer next spring. Yea!

Chance of rain today and tomorrow. Really hoping we get it. We have had a great August but I still hate August!!! This next week it will be six years since my mother died. Like I said, I hate August!

Lori O. said...

It's not turned out to be a pretty day here, but the temp is comfortable. Looks like it's going to rain. Hoping you get some tomorrow, LOLLY!

I got all the material (and some extra I found upstairs) for this year's dog tugs cut out. I'd have had blisters if I would have cut anymore.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

Lolly said...

Wish I had a dog, Lori, just to received one of your tugs. lol I do have two grand dogs!

Good afternoon, Eagle Buds !

As LOLLY said, this blog is sure slow, but it does make catching up easier. Since I've returned I haven't seen posts from LINDA, either of the DANA's or LYNNE2. What's up with them, anyone ?

This is a busy time of year with folks winding up summer, the start of school, etc.. So, I guess there is little cause for alarm.

Julie had to return to ER last night due to difficulty breathing. They did another thorough exam and say the embolisms are all gone. There is still a fluid build up on the lungs, but not enough to warrant drawing it off. She's to drink lots of water, rest and will see her Primary Doctor again on Monday. Thanks for your prayers !!!

My prayers are with you, your pets and families as per requests !

Prayers for JULIE and I hope ER settles the problem. Love you KAY.

LOLLY it is so exciting that now you start to think of your trip to CANADA...yay!!!

I had a terrific paddle this morning and oh my was it beautiful and breath taking...Went past the Osprey nest and no one was home but saw them flying about.
Lots of geese and a family of ducks came to the beach.Went to coffee with the Dragon Ladies afterwards. We laughed a lot.

Ran an errand and ran into a woman I had volunteered with over a year ago...she was very upset...after 31 years married her husband left because he neve loved her and because he is tired of her health issues!!! She cried so we went for a cup of tea...she is 74 years old and had to assume a mortgage to buy him out from the house. He took the car and she is just stunned as to the changes happening in her life!!! Two months after he left her mother died and then he had a motorcycle accident!!! She is shaken. I am glad we stopped for tea so she could talk...life can deal the unexpected every once in a while.
At 74 she does not want to lose her license but she can not afford to buy a car and so it is a dilema for her right now...I am very sad for her...she does not want to lose her driving skills...

I need to run errands and clean and see what there is to be done around here...it is the best way to deal with sadness.

Yes, what has happened to them? I hope both are just busy with work and we're low on the totem pole. I understand that. We need a leave a absence form! LOL

Wow - rain off and on all day, sometimes light, sometimes heavy, some with thunder and lightning. My plants and shrubs are happy but I would have much preferred to p0lay tennis and then hit the beach!

Hoda, Jo told me that she and Ed will head home some time tomorrow.

Lori, wish I had a dog that could enjoy one of your tugs! bandit is too old and grouchy and Bella has no teeth so she's at a real disadvantage when she plays tug-of-war!! =)

Kay, prayers for Julie that fluids and some more time are all she needs - how scary for her and for you!!

People keep commenting about how slow the blog is. Since this is my first summer on the blog, I have nothing to compare to. Are there fewer people posting than there normally are in the summer, or is this pretty typical?

Have gotten all the bathrooms cleaned and the grocery shopping done (in between storms). Time to feed dogs and people - later!!

Reading and half watching the Cowboy game. We did not get any rain today, so I have also been watering some.

Trailer is clean and repaired and back at it's home. We will get it the middle of next week to start loading for our departure on the 10th.

Need to get to a yarn shop. I want to work on knitting a baby blanket while traveling. No baby in mind, will just save it for a gift. I like to knit while traveling as I can still carry on a conversation and look at the scenery.

Good evening,

Yes, the blog is really slow right now. Not many posts at all today.

Thunder and pouring rain here this evening. It has been raining off and on all day.

Kathryn went off for the day with a friend who took her son to college. They went down to the Radford area, though he is not attending Radford. He is attending New River Community College down there.

They were planning to enjoy their trip back home, but I am afraid they are having a rainy drive.

Hunter is with his dad this weekend. It is the critters and Grandma here at home.

Stopping in to say good night. I hope overall it has been a good day for everyone. I have had an off day today "mood' wise. hmm. I would try getting out of the other side of the bed tomorrow but that"s really not a choice unless I move the wall. I have worked long and hard and very passionately for years with Women's issues in our country. It really get's under my skin when I hear something or someone try to back us up after all this hard work. I don't always agree on how to move forward either but I so care for the plight of families which I believe are indeed strengthened by nurturing women. Let's just say it's gonna be a tough few months in the good old USA. nuff said. HAGD SED

We had the meeting, then those who wanted to bowled just for fun. It was what I think they called 9-tap scoring. If you knocked down 9 pins, it counted as a strike. That is one reason I did so well. Didn't mention that before!!

stronghunter said...

But even knocking down 9 pins consistently was an improvement for me.

Your average is better than mine, Janet.

The forecast is looking better and better for us on the coast but worse for the panhandle the 11pm will show more but looks like it will be over 100 miles form us and we aren't even in the cone of uncertainty The cancelled the opening of the RNC on Mon but the 5thousand protesters are still doing their thing

stronghunter said...

Most of the teams had sponsors last year, Janet. They pay some expenses, but I am not sure how that all works.

In return, they get to advertise by having the company name in the team name.

PRAYERS♥

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,

First of all, let me report that happily, Katie the bulldog is feeling much better tonight! She has had some 'hot spots,' caused by the recent HOT weather, and her allergy to something in her environment. Last night it all got MUCH worse, and she had a couple of big spots that were raw and bleeding quite a bit. She wouldn't leave them alone, and neither would her sister, Charlee. The vet gave her a shot for her allergies, cleaned her wounds, and put her on antibiotics, to the tune of $175.00. He says that in a week she will be greatly improved. Right now, she looks as if a giant predator had chewed her up and spit her out! Poor Sis-in-law is having to clean Katie's entire indoor environment very carefully, AND the downstairs dog run. Oh--the upper deck, as well.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!!
They certainly are working! The hives and labored breathing are dramatically improved. I am SO thankful!!! God is good!!!!

Margy, I've been thinking of you!!
Prayers for you and your whole family continue, and (((HUGS)))!!!
Oh--and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MARY MARGARET!!!

Hoda, glad your paddle on the lake was so beautiful. Prayers for your 74-year-old friend!! I feel SOOO sad for her for all she's gone through recently! No wonder she was upset! I'm sure your time with her did her a world of good. God bless her!!! Sorry to hear that Neil Armstrong has passed. He will be missed. RIP.

Kay, so good to see you back here!
Prayers for Julie, and for her doctor visit on Monday! That had to be a pretty scary ER visit!
(((HUGS)))!!

Carolyn, so sorry to hear of the passing of Charlie's step-uncle!
Prayers and hugs, for sure!!!

GrannyBLT, prayers for you as you
continue your journey, without a/c!
(((HUGS))), too!

Good Morning Eagle Friends!

JUDYE, thanks for posting the video of DanaMo's dogs playing with the tugs. That's easier for JANET to see how fun they are for the dogs. DMO's dogs loved them!
So glad to hear you are going to be safe from the storm.

HODA, I am still thinking about your volunteer friend you had tea with yesterday. I'm sure it seems like her world is ending and you were there to be a good friend. Bless you!

WANDA, lucky you to have your extra's closet! That sounds so much better than going out shopping! When are you going to open the shop this year?

ANDY, I'm so happy to hear Katie the bulldog is only suffering from allergies and hot spots. Of course, bulldogs are notorious for such things.

LOLLY, I'm so jealous of your trip to Canada and getting a new trailer next year. I would love to have a motorhome or trailer for my retirement in another 85 years! lol. Seems like forever.

I'm going to take some vacation time next month and go camping at a family reunion with my folks. It'll be the first time I've camped with them and their motorhome. Sure different from a tiny camper when I was a kid! :)

MARGY, it's your weekend!!! I hope you have fun and get some rest whatever you decide to do.

JUDIE, thinking of you being bummed about going back to the big school. I say some prayers for smiles and rest for you. Big HUGS!

LYNNE1/Grannyblt, please send another wave KAY's way on your way through Columbus today. Sorry you're making the trip in the heat. Wishing you safe travels and a cool day!

Janet said...

good morning my eagle friends.

feeling sad this morning. morning seems the time of day when emotion is most raw to me. case in point: i mentioned my friends are moving back to PA. saw them last night. at first cheryl told me by spring, i figured by december, before the snows fly.

they are leaving the 7th of september. they are moving their things up on the 7th....they will be back the 20th for a dr appt at vandy for cheryl, then leave again ...for good, the 30th.

i mean we chatted and went to dinner....and i was okay last night, but the dreams come....and woke me up an hour or so ago. i also had a bad dream about my beano (my smallest and youngest dog) and that just finally was enough. i'm out of bed, early even for a reiki sunday...just to stop the tears.

JUDYE: thanks for posting the vid clip for me. that is so cool. what talent to create such things, LORI!

STRONGHUNTER: our team name is the 9's. we don't knock down 9 consistently, but maybe a 7 then a 2 for example. i think i am looking forward to the season. some uncertainty now as to who will be our fourth. our normal fourth, russell, works at sam's club and may/maynot be able to bowl this year. gotta make a decision soon though. we can bowl with 3, but its preferably to bowl with four. we finished 11 or 12th out of 14 teams last year, but given that in the past we have been 14th, its an improvement! lol. and, knowing that, i don't know a single company who'd want to put their names on our shirts!!! lmao. heck, they MIGHT pay us never to MENTION them. :)

JUDYE: loved the weather/disaster maps. had to think how mom and dad would have loved THAT! i am hoping that the weather will not impact our trip to VA BCH this coming week. or that nothing else does either. i think i need a couple days away.......

MS> BOOKWORM: glad that Katie is better. :) hard when there are problems with the furbabies!

HODA: you are such a strong, adventurous spirit! I so admire you!

Well, up plenty early today, that's for sure. Quiet with coffee and my "Beano" time. He always snuggles in the morning (in between checking on the cats who are his buddies).

Level 3 class today. 6 coming to class. :) I should be done by mid afternoon. Then a busy, abbreviated work week ahead. Then, after this trip, I suppose it will feel like summer's over, even though, technically, its not.

Planning Tom's 50th birthday celebration. Have contemplated many things...gonna keep it simple (its the end of Sept btw). Think will just take him out to Carrabbaas (one of his favorites) and invite fam/friends who wish to come and join us. I will make Mom's butter cream cake (mouth watering yet, Judy?) and anyone who wants can come over. Maybe I will have to make 2? Anyway....time to plan that, yet.

Thought about Neil Armstrong last night: we gazed at the moon (which I do often anyway) but thought of a man, a human who helped us as humans to reach out further than we ever have before; he and people like him, with a dream....and a destiny. So sad he has passed.

BTW, did ya'll see GOODLETSVILLE, TN (little league baseball) (and just out side of Nashville) won the championship and go to the world championship today....that's pretty cool!

Well I"ve chattered enough. I will get moving here in a few. Need to do the morning routine, and head out just before 9. its only 6:30 I know, but I am a Capricorn and hate to run late. lol.

Hope everyone has a beautiful day. I'll be thinking of you and check in later. Light, love, hugs, and smiles to all....

Judie said...

Good morning,

My delete. Cutting and pasting had made my post confusing.

Hoda, good that you were there for the lady who needed a sympathetic ear.

Kathryn came home late after driving through pouring rain. They did have some enjoyable times, though.

Bowling--Janet, my team finished near the bottom, too. But we moved up from dead last. It was exciting to do that.

We will be Pearson's Angels. Our sponsor is a seafood restaurant in Colonial Beach, VA. The league is called Colonial Beach Ladies, though most members are not from Colonial Beach anymore. Colonial Beach is about 30 miles from here. I think there's no bowling alley any nearer for them.

Sandi said...

OK, 4 fans and the dehumidifier running in the workroom. Guess we'll spend all day drying out one section of the room, then moving stuff and drying out another area. According to the local weather, Bethany got at least 6" and in some places close to 10" of rain yesterday and last night!! That's the most rain we've gotten in the 6 years we've been living here full time!!

Sun is out now but there is so much standing water at the gate to the tennis courts, that we can't get onto the courts, even if they are playable - maybe this afternoon.

Later.

Good morning! Just not fair, some get too much rain and some of us do not get enough! Where is the happy medium? Still a chance of rain here but I am not holding my breath!

Good late morning. I am way past coffee and dog treats time. Actually it's raining here "a little". We will take every drop we can get about now. Dex and I went for a ride to Hardees for Biscuits and Gravy. I bought 2 orders. one for lunch today and one for tomorrow sometime. They are $1.25 on Sundays. Works well for me :-). It's time for a cup of tea here and then soem photography work. Prayers for those who are ailing or mopping up. Prayers for furbabies. My Daph had allergies all her life. It's not fun at all. So glad to see Kay stopping by. Love and a good day to all. I got out of the same side of the bed BUT I have not listened to any news today and haven't read any walls on fb that I really do not care to read right now. It works for me.

Good afternoon dear Eagle Buds !

HODA, it's so like you to be there for a friend in at just the right time. A good listener is exactly what she needed. Love your avatar ! We missed a great get together, but are so blessed to have the goodies received there.

LYNNE1, guess you've already "flown" by me. Next time you come through Columbus we must get together.

LORI, wonderful to hear about the upcoming camping trip with your parents ! What fun !

WANDA, what happy wedding plans ! So nice there is a way to take GG along.

GLO, you've activated my taste buds ! Haven't seen a Hardees since I left Tucson in 1987. I loved their biscuits and sausage, but don't recall their having gravy back then. Hmmmm, good !

Thanks to all who've mentioned Julie and are keeping her in thoughts and prayers. I'll be taking her to the doc for the Coumidin check tomorrow. It looks like she'll have to take a sick leave and turn her classes over to an adjunct at Columbus State for a while. Tough to do, but a must in my opinion.

Prayers for all whether two footed or four ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

He if you are on FB Dex is looking for some of his canine friends to join him in a Nat'l Dog Day photo over on Kritter Kaptures. There are a lot of dogs loved here. I hope some of their Mom/Dads will stop over and post a photo to Kritter Kapture's. Dex wants to party. Thanks

Kathryn and I went out to Ruby Tuesdays today for dinner. Tom dropped Hunter off there.

Kathryn said that they came through rain so hard last night that she would have pulled off the road but there was nowhere to go. I know that feeling. Scary.

I was worried about her but did not want to call because I thought she needed to concentrate on the driving.

We had a little time to go clothes shopping for Kathryn. She needed some things for the upcoming wedding.

I told her I would treat her to an outfit and decided to write a check. Oh my gosh!! I guess they could not find my ID information on their system. Well, I do exist and I am who I say I am.

We were in a hurry because Kathryn needed to pick up the dogs where they were being groomed. I finally offered cash to get things moving, but they were in mid-transaction and did not want to stop.

Good grief!! She must have given my ID numbers a dozen times.

They finally decided that taking my cash was a good idea, but by then I was locked in the store and it took more time for them to let me out. Kathryn had gone to get the car to speed things up, so I was all alone in the store with the transaction-challenged clerks. Thank goodness they were able to unlock the door.

We finally escaped, and the dog grooming place was waiting for us.

Pulling a Margy here Hey did you all know that its the 7th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina they just said that on the news the 29th

stronghunter said...

I told Kathryn that I might have stopped at a hotel somewhere if I had been driving in that rain. She said that they did find a place called the Relax Inn, but they decided they would have been relaxing with cockroaches if they had stopped there.

Lots of miles of not much of anything between here and Radford, so they did not have a lot of options.

Welcome home, Jo. So glad you are back without trouble and safe and sound.

Glo, glad National Doggie Day was a success for you and Dex.

Hi Kay. So nice to have to back on the blog. Keep improving, please.

Shirley, glad Kathryn arrived safely and you three were able to enjoy dinner out.

Lolly, so glad Zach has a comfortable fit for school. I'm sure he will thrive.

Jo, hope you had a shorter ride than I did....over an hour longer because of the rain and flooding...the water was running down all 3 lanes on Rt 50 in Easton .... probable 4 inches deep...made it a long drive from there to the Bay Bridge...quite a light show from the storm moving up the coast.

Boy we had some REALLY loud thunder and lots of lightening last night...scared the bejesus out of Steve and I.

Got the last bedroom and 2 remaining closet floors done...ready for the 1/4 round! Yay!

Couldn't go out in the boat...too rainy and lots of inside work to do, but Steve did get 2 fish, and we caught some crabs as well, so it's all good.

Hi, Everyone,

Talked to Sis-in-law earlier, and Katie the bulldog is still improving. She looks a lot better!
Even more important, there's been no recurrance of hives or labored breathing. She seems to have a bad allergy to something in her environment, and we haven't been able to figure out exactly what it is. We're working on it! She's eating a salmon & potato food with no grain, soy, etc.

Haven't read back on the blog very far--need to do that. Be right back!

Wow, Sandi! Hope that Denny's workroom will dry out OK. Some others are getting a lot of rain, too! Hoping that all will be well, and everyone safe and sound.

It was cooler here today again, with a high of 84. It's cooled down to about 73 now, so fairly comfortable.

Didn't do much this afternoon, but did go do some grossery shopping.

JudyE, I didn't feel a single earthquake here today. Brawley, CA had some, but they are in the far southeastern corner of the state, and roughly 150 miles from here. San Diego is closer to Brawley, so may have felt something. Haven't watched the news today, so will check it out in a while.

Think I'm going to call it a day.
Prayers have been said for everyone, every creature, and all our furbabies. The porch light is on, and both security systems are enabled. Sleep well, with SED. God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you!

PAULA & JO, glad you both made it home safely through the rain. WELCOME HOME!

JUDYE, keep up posted on the storm. Hope it's not too bad for you tonight/this morning when you thought you were going to get so much rain.

KAY, just love checking in and seeing that you've been here. Makes me smile! :)

SANDI, how is Denny's workroom coming along? Any progress in the big dry out?

GLO, thanks for posting about the FB Kritter Kapture page - I'm going to have to go over there and post a pic of FloBear. Miss that boy.

HODA, sounds like some great grocery shopping. I love shopping in health food stores, too!

SHIRLEY, how did you like "the NEW Ruby Tuesdays"? They keep advertising it on TV that it's new anyway! I haven't been in a while.

MARGY, glad you found your enjoyment in your book. How is your weekend going? Is your family doing okay?

Time to get off here and move along. Gotta get ready for work. Sleep study is tonight, so I am off tomorrow. YAY!

Thanks so much for kid words and prayers for Charlie's step uncle. Usually someones step uncle is not so close to ones family. But being that he lived with Mom for the last 12 yrs or longer... he was really like family.
Rain, rain.... made for sleeping nice today, well yesterday ....
Could hear the rain real well since our central air broke and we stuck a window ac unit in our bedroom. The only cool room in the house!! Have a tech coming out on Tuesday morning. Gonna be expensive, I am afraid. The unit will not even turn the fan , heat or ac on. nothing. Completely dead. UGh!! Since April, that is 4 tires on my veh( had two constantly going flat), a washing machine, a garbage disposal, a dishwasher and now the Central AC. I am done!!
Mema Jo and Paula, glad that you made it home ok from the beaches!
I really really need to take time to go there. I think some peace of mind would do good, maybe next month.
Shar and Bev, glad the concert was a good one!!
Our venue today at a place called Shiley Acres had Buck Cherry. Next month is going to be Charlie Daniels Band and the Davisson Brothers. We had Charlie Daniles out for Pickin in the Panhandle a few yrs ago. Took Mom to see him.

Good Monday morning Lori, Jewels, and all my eagle friends! It's Back to School Day for me! =(

Jo and Paula - welcome home, glad you made it back safely and didn't float away at the beach or on the drive back!

Glo, loved Dex's latest portrait! I didn't know Kritter Kaptures had a FB page! It's now one of my "Likes."

Workroom dried out fine. Denny has decided to dig a pit just outside the ground floor door to the workroom (where our hot tub used to sit), line it with stone/gravel, and put in a sump pump. He has talked about doing that since we moved here and added the finished ground floor area, but yesterday's water was the clincher. Fall project.

It rained again during the night - not much but some. Don't really care what today's weather looks like, since I'll be in meetings most of the day. Hope there's enough time built in this week to get my room set up. When I taught elem. school, I used to go in during the summer to set up my classroom - don't do that anymore.

Have a great day all!

Good morning everyone. Dex and I are back from coffee and dog treats. Sun is shining. It had been 111 days since we had had a nice rain like yesterday. My yard is actually 2/3 green again. I was greeted by a baby cardinal that fell from somewhere last night or this morning as I went out to feed the birds. I was coming in to google what to do if anything. It has all but nice tail feathers so it could maybe make it. I have seen Mom approach to feed twice so Dex and I iwll be steering clear of the back yard today and hope for the best for the li'l guy. Lori Yes please go post a picture of FloBear on Kritter Kaptures. I think actually I am going to make a Memorial Folder for some of the special Kritters who come for our page. My son lost his black lab this year too and one other friend posted a photo of her special friend last night. They need a place where we can all go to spend a little time with those paw prints that we all know "furever" stay on our hearts.

Well, the weather in So Cal, which has been kind of moderate, is going into another heat spell.

My car is back on the road now. It cost a few bucks, and it was running fine, but then I made the mistake of pulling into a station to fill up. As soon as I pulled out of the station and came to a stoplight, I noticed the engine light had come on! Think I'd better take it to a place with an engine analyzer ... soon.

It still runs well, but that light nags at the mind the whole time.

Not many birds on the nests just now, are there?

Good morning my friends ♥
Margy, I think that black, green and blue all mean the same thing on the
still cam - Cam is down! Best that we
keep checking, though - Hopefully Steve will alert us on the blog if there is action going on at the Sycamore Palace..

Beautiful day this first day of school
Thoughts of Candy, Dana and Sandi - Then I think of Shirley, the freebird! ♥

I have 3 ggk in school and a big senior in High School. Dominick is the last HS grad for the grand kids. I have always prayed selfishly to be able to attend his graduation.
Also have Freshman at UM and gd in her 3rd year of college. SO the 1st day of school this year has lots of meaning for me!

It is good to be home - I can tell my birds and squirrels missed us. Our 2 cats were well taken care of but last night they both snuggled up against me so tightly that I couldn't move to change my position. lol

Lunch time here! BBL

Reading back before I have lunch--------
Ho9da what a blessing you were for your friend. Just to listen was the best thing for her. I pray her life will continue with God looking over her.

Shirley, sounds like Hunter is becoming his own little man. My 5th grade gd is
the same way nowadays! I do hope he says good bye so you can at least be sure his shoes are tied! lol

Jim, 1st check out your gas cap - that can do that to the engine light.
It happened to me before.

I had a show everyday on one of the bushes down home - 20-30 large butterflies every day. The large yellow with black tips and then the large black - I wish I knew their names as I am sure most of you do.

Good afternoon all my eagle budlets.

Shew, what a weekend! I am wore slam out. Friday night was the Beaver-Graham game (we lost). Saturday we drove to Weston to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum for a 2-1/2 hour tour which was absolutely awesome. Then on to Stonewall Resort for an absolutely gorgeous wedding. Yesterday on the way home we stopped at New River Gorge Bridge and walked to the end of the lookout. I am much too old for that. Last night we went to a Jake Owen and Eric Church concert. Awesome weekend. I have a cousin visiting who was 30 years old before she knew this side of her family. We are so much alike. I love her lots!

This coming weekend, I am going with Andrew, Kelsey and Kelsey's parents to Columbus for a couple of days to celebrate Kelsey's birthday. I love my life.

Eagle Watcher Good work, Team Eagle! Of course it would be better to not have it come to that point, but if a lawyer is needed please count me in for contributions. What better way to spend retirement income than in support of the environment and NBG, one of the shockingly few green places of any size left in this area.

Jeanne Adams What part "wild" in "wildlife" do they not get? Are they going to have to eventually deforest a 10 mile swath around the airport? Pave it over? Set up machine guns? Electrify the pavement? Are they going to put up ultralights and small planes to shoot down and kill the hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of thousands of birds migrating every fall and spring along the Atlantic Flyway? The birds have been doing this for many many millions of years. We have been on this planet for only a fraction of that time. The birds are going to keep on coming and these dislocated-from-their-planet humans are going to keep on killing, if they are not stopped. They have placed both feet out onto a very slippery slope and now their fragile little political egos are involved as well. We may well not be able to stop these "humans," but for sure THEY cannot stop the birds (and other wildlife) despite all the killing at the bottom of this very slippery slope they have started down. What are they thinking? Are they thinking? There are studies already afloat out there using special patterns of blinking lights on the wings of planes to get the attention of birds so they can evade the planes. These have been tested and they work. But instead of using American-inventiveness, they are using American-kill-power, just to show mother nature who is "boss." Surprise, surprise. Going mano-a-mano with mother nature is a guaranteed loser.

Elizabeth Building near long-standing bird migratory routes and in areas filled with both fresh and saltwater sources are worldwide guarantees for more bird strikes. Seagulls, pelicans, egrets, and cranes are large birds that are often in these habitats. So are eagles, however, the NBG eagles have been involved in only 2 incidents in over 10 years. By picking NBG as their territory, the eagles will fight off intruders who want to settle. Without the resident eagles, NBG will likely become eagle condos. The bird strike issues will likely increase. Actually, if you look at patterns of bird strikes flocks of smaller birds like sparrows and starlings potentially more of a proplem since they can get into all of the engines in a short amount of time and cause havoc

Elizabeth I can not believe that those involved in building Norfolk Airport were not advised of these facts by their land scouts. The airport must have known what the statistics were before they built. By the Norfolk Airport's complaint about the NBG eagles to the federal agencies, it seems that they are shifting the blame for a situation they most likely knew would occur.
