OH MY!!! This time Missy went totally out of camera range!!! I so thought she was over the edge of the nest but she landed right back in...they are picking on each other and Missy is the aggressor too today...what is up with her I wonder??? Bro is tucked in and has his head down...she is right at him!!!

Mattie just came home from school. A girl who went to her school but she didn't know, left home on Tuesday, walked 2 miles away and then walked in front of a car on Rt. 460. One car hit her, she flew across the car and then the car behind them hit her. She passed away at Charleston Area Medical Center last night. Word is she was in foster care and being abused. She left from there and walked out in front of the car on purpose. This just makes me so sad in my soul.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

And on a much lighter note:

THE WEDDING IS IN 16 DAYS!!!!!

NatureNut said...

Oh Shar! That is just awful! Hurts my heart.

Re: nest birds~~~earlier I saw one back up to edge at about 2 o'clock.
Did a PS, then stayed there after a stretch w/one foot laying out of the railing!!!!!
For a few weeks here in "Magnolia Acres", we have seen a few hummer visits to flowers and feeder. This AM I put new food in bottle and hummer boy has been seen a few times yesterday and today. So we probably have a summer resident! Monday there were Wren Wars out there.Kind of early for our regulars, but one house wren came, checked the birdhouse a few times and then laid seige on any other birds in the tree! Later there was a LOT of squawking from two house wrens and two Carolina wrens! The Carolinas haven't used the house, so may be a territory dispute!
At Chelsea yesterday, a second great blue heron was flying after our usual resident at the pond!Very loud noises!!

Hoda said...

OH SHAR This is just awful...I hope the Social Services investigates the foster home and stops putting people there...too late for this girl but maybe others would not have the same fate. Please tell MATTIE I said I am sorry...

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I do not like Mema Jo not being here! :-(

magpie said...

Well, Sharon, today IS Thursday, and I believe Jo is Homeward-bound today if I understood Sandi's post from a day or so ago...

I miss her also !!!

magpie said...

Sharon, I am so sorry to read of the death of the young girl...and sad for her, and those who knew her, especially Mattie and the young ones that have to struggle with this kind of tragedy.
May she rest in peace, now....and forever

Lynne2 said...

These eaglets are giving me the vapors, what with all that flapping about and DISPPEARING!!

Sharon, OMG, that is SO SO sad....
But HAPPY about the upcoming wedding!

Wow Wanda, it the the Nicotania you got at the gathering weekend? I just put mine in the ground last weekend!

Lynne2 said...

OH....Hi from work!

magpie said...

I have changed to my Memorial Day Week-end avatar, James at the gravesite of my parents, from last year.

I am pretty sure we will do the same visiting at the cemetery this year, it has become tradition with us.

God Bless Our Veterans, those who have gone before, and those who survive today, ALL our Military Personnel, and all their families.....

magpie said...

You all will totally love those nicotiana plants....mine last year, bloomed forever !

magpie said...

Well, sorry , I guess it is
Nicotania
I had scarlet ones, and white ones last year...and I think I have some overwinter ones coming up.

I hope so !!!

magpie said...

Hi Lynne, from work !
well you from work, me from Magpie's Roost.

magpie said...

Paula

what is your "take" on fledgling dates this year ??
Please and Thanks in advance...

Sounds like you have a GREAT week-end coming up !!!

magpie said...

Loretta, sounds like a LOT of birdy excitement both at home, and at work, for you...

magpie said...

I'm going to try to put a couple of pepper plants and two more tomato plants and some more marigolds it the ground...

checking out for now to do that...

xoxox

Hello Jewels, when you check in from work !!! Maybe you can give us an update on Charlie's mother's brother in law, I hope he is doing okay....
Prayers for that also, and for the tasks that you and Christie have been accomplishing...Bless You Both

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Missy is 10 weeks and 1 day and Bro is 9 weeks and 6 days. I am going to say at the end of next week, we should have a fledge.

Hoda said...

SHAR that would be so exciting...the end of next week for a fledge...I will miss them...

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Hoda, then when they both have fledged, we hold our breath until they are both back in the nest at the same time. They have all returned in the past so I have a feeling these darlings will be alright too.

Hoda said...

Waiting on Mema Jo,to chime in, here too SHAR...

Hoda said...

Thanks SHAR...I will wait for this time and look forward to sharing it with you...I hope it is not on the 2nd of June as the National Walkathon to fight HIV/AIDS is on on that day and I am organising with the Grans to Grans...I hope videos will be made.

Hoda said...

My iphone takes video...next thing to learn is how to download it on here!!! LEARNING IS SO MUCH FUN!!!

Hoda said...

Shep in with food and Missy Mantles...she is now eating... I think it is a fish but am not sure, yes it is a fish!!!

Hoda said...

Well Missy could not get in the fish and left it, Bro tried and made no head way, Belle arrived and was going to feed so Missy antles again and keeps her from feeding...so what is up with that? Spoilt brat!!!

magpie said...

Remember how outrageously noise Palmer used to be when food would come in the nest when she was this age as the peaglets now ??

magpie said...

NOISY I mean
and I think Hidey was pretty vocal also

Thanks Sharon-Paula ☺
those predictions sound pretty powerful !

for the fledging that is

In from the yard. Finished up my last yard project with Jack's help. Then ended up visiting with the neighbors instead of working. They used our yard last weekend to take pictures of their daughter. She was dressed for the end of 8th grade dance. They got some beautiful pictures.

Getting dinner ready. Throwing some chicken breasts into the oven.

Sharon, that is so awful about the young girl.

I am with you...miss Jo....miss all the blogging. It has been too quiet on here.

Hoda said...

Headed off to yoga...

Enjoy the evening and I hope this wind at the nest dies down soon...Batten down the hatches if you are close to it, it looks like there is a storm a comin'!!!

Hoda said...

Oh my can someone tell Missy it is not a good idea to spread her iwngs and flap in this wind!!!???

Linda said...

Good Windy Evening....

Is that Missy that I have been watching? Whichever one it is, is sure making me nervous!! Looks like he/she is going to get caught up with the wind and will be out of here!

Hopefully dark will set in and they will both settle down for the night. One wants to rest and the other wants to fly away!

Linda said...

HODA - I'm thinking the same thing!!

First she is running all over the nest trying to keep that little fish to herself. I think Shep was just trying to get it from her to feed her the rest of it, but she ran from one end to the other twice with that darn thing in her mouth.

And now all this flapping in the wind.....

My nerves....

Linda said...

Oh, she just plopped down!! Maybe she has had enough!!

floralgirl said...

Pretty wicked thunderstorm cell passing over here and at the nest right now.

Lolly said...

Heard the storm and just came over to take a peek. Wow! Sit down eaglet!!!!!!

Linda said...

I see the rain, Megan! And now Bro wants to flap around for a while!!

Ugh!

Lolly said...

I was in the kitchen and could hear the wind and rain. Both were sitting low but one is wingersizing now. Crazy bird!

Lolly said...

Look at that tail wiggle! Funny!

floralgirl said...

It's been so hot here today, this storm has wonderful cool air, I'm sure if feels pretty good to flap his wings in it.

floralgirl said...

Monkey see, monkey do, now they are both flapping in the breeze.

paula eagleholic said...

Nite lite is on..the leaves look white behind the eaglets...very pretty..sounds like raindrops too

Somen thunder here

paula eagleholic said...

I agree with Sharon, end of next week probably for Missy....for fledging!

paula eagleholic said...

I don't think my nicotania are going to bloom again this year...got 2 years out of them!

paula eagleholic said...

I didn't get to leave work until 7, so no lawn mowing tonight. but I did get my tomatoes planted, and some flowers. Need new liners for the hanging baskets, so they will have to wait....as will the lawn. Oh well. There just isn't enough hours in the day.

magpie said...

I have no live feed at all, what's up with that !!
storm could not quite make up its mind here near Hedgesvillen and was more bark than bite

Good Evening Eagle Pals...

See you Paula...that you think end of next week for Missy to take the flying leap

xo

magpie said...

That's a big 10-4 Paula, not enough hours in the day...

magpie said...

Now I have live feed again, whew!

Costume Lady said...

It was a very noisy storm---a lot of thunder, but no lightning. We were on the deck having supper, undercover, nice and dry, but the wind drove us into the house:(
Love to have our evening meal outside...been couped up far too long!

So I'm in!
Missy will fledge on May 30th
Bro will fledge on June 1
There are my guesses! And if they don't hit the date that I guessed then it will be the day after! You got to have back up!

Had a very very nice time at the beach. Mainly we were there to dust, mop, make beds and get an inventory of paper products and cleaning products.

Good thing was having dinner with Sandi and Denny and then Helen aka Mits Those things made our trip worthwhile.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

OMG - THERE IS MY MEMA JO!! WELCOME BACK! I HAVE MISSED YOU SO!

Wish we could hear from him or Diane soon.

JudyEddy said...

LYNNE if you delete those albums of avatars then all the pages from the past will not have your avatars I thought of that when I was going to delete I thought of the pic that I postsed of the eagles for record will be gone then i didn't delete the albums just for that reason

Linda said...

Welcome Home Jo!! Glad you had a good trip!

My heart jumps the same way when I read JudyE's comment to LYNN instead of LYNNE!! I miss her so very much and it just makes my heart skip a beat!

We had a local story about an eagle nest that was discovered at Lake Walenpaupack about 1.5 hours from where I live. They have roped off a section of the lake around this island where the eagles are nesting until the eaglets in the nest fledge!! They aren't allowing anyone to go on the island until August.

Surely the lake will be more busy than usual this summer as people want to see the eagles!! Neat!!

Linda said...

How ya doin' Lynne??

Lynne2 said...

Hi Linda!

OMG, now where did my avatar go?????

Lynne2 said...

now it's back, I am so confused! I mean, CLEAR!

Lynne2 said...

That's cool about the eagle nest Linda! And you are right...that lake will surely be much busier!

Linda said...

And...MARGY....I failed to chime in and thank you so very much for sending a program to me as well. It touched my heart to read through the program and imagine being there. The recap of your descritpion from the blog was so perfect and so appreciated! :)

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you, MARGY!!

Linda said...

I've seen an eagle twice on the way to church. I keep looking for a nest, but there are too many leaves now!!

Before the leaves were plentiful, it was just perched in a tree looking amazingly beautiful. The second time, it was flying and we pulled off the road and just admired!

Lynne2 said...

LINDA, I remember when you saw the first eagle on your way to church!

JUDY, I deleted avatar pictures individually as I didn't have an option (at least not one I could figure out) to delete the whole album. Freed up a lot of room! And I guess I really don't care if past old posts don't have the avatar any more. I'd rather have the room to add pictures to my blog.

Hi,

Just did a quick read-back of this section.

Spent a good bit of time earlier printing out pictures for Hunter's project. I will have to say that his poster is no work of art, but it is his own work, such as it is. Except that I printed the pictures for him. He will glue them on tomorrow morning, I suppose.

I think Kathryn and I stressed much more than Hunter did over this project.

Jewels said...

lol Margy, yes...one person short. I am trying to man 911 solo, however at times, I jsut cannot do it!! LOL Have pretty much manned radio traffic alone tho.

Hot day ahead, 92 .... summer has arrived.

Work is going nuts. FOr the most part it is a good place to work, but sometime they get a bee in their bonnet and have to ruffle feathers, and they are doing so right now. I just keep my head down and do my job. You have that nonsense everywhere...so I just row thru it. This too will pass.

Hope to get a chance to read more posts. I get so far behind!!!!!

Welcome home Jo. Glad you had a wonderful time with momster friends.

Carolyn, so happy you maintained your composure with a live microphone. Sorry you had the experience.

Shirley, hoping Hunter gets a good grade on his project. No doubt you and Kathryn stressed more than he.

Hoda, I think the news video was of the changing of the guard and she attended -- Canadian Mounties invited as part of the celebration. May not have been big news in CA or Eng.

Sharon, so very sorry Mattie has to experience the loss of a schoolmate and in such a tragic way. Extra hugs for Mattie.

Off to begin my gray and rainy day. Oh, Gracie still has to wear the collar as her incision is still not healed.

Wow !! I can see your dress on that link here from work, Sharon!
Classy, Elegant...and am sure it will be even more so with you in it !!

Good Morning More Eagle Pals....

Once again, Safe Traveling Wishes for all....

wear a little RED today if you can...even if it's later in the day ♥

Lolly said...

Wow, Jo, you were an early bird! Good on you!

I am just peeking in before mowing. Also waiting for the plumber. Shower and potty in our bathroom stopped up. Thank goodness for the front plumbing in the front bathroom. Jack tried working on it with no success. Like the plumber....father of two of my students. Great family!

I am off now...to eat breakfast and then mow!

Later Gators!!

magpie said...

oh, the nest and the Eaglets look beautiful

I take it Missy is the one hopping around the nest right now...
Impressive !!!

magpie said...

Oh and there is Shep ...

magpie said...

"You're on your own, kids "

magpie said...

shucks
I have to work instead of watch Eagles...
how inconvenient

I think that is Belle in the nest...

supervising the tearing of fish flesh
and doing a little housekeeping

Good Morning!

CAROLYN - Glad you got your "live mike" handled quickly. Oops!

Dry and windy so far this morning in my roost, but it looks dark...........maybe that's why I slept in a bit later than usual.

I just love to sleep......especially in the morning. Doesn't work too well for accomplishing as much as you gals do. By the time I am up and moving, many of you have 2-4 hours under your belt!

Oh well........ it is what it is. Hopefully one day my body will want less sleep!

Going to get my day moving now!

Make it a good one and safe travels to any traveling this weekend.....

Good Day to You !!

and Hellooooo Sharon !!

We are a pretty cool bunch aren't we !

magpie said...

I L♥ve us too, but I sure can't keep up with everything and everyone...

I miss Lynn also....
I think she would like this kind of day....until it starts getting hot hot hot like it's supposed to

magpie said...

When i watched the wild turkey takng its dirt bath the other day, friend of mine said it was probably "dusting off lice "

bet these eagles would like to take themselves a big dusty dirt bath !!

floralgirl said...

Around here today, Margy, it would have to be a mud bath :)
The 2 little orphan hummers they put beside Emma didn't make it thru the night. Cool experiment that they tried, though, and certainly fascinating to see her feeding them. She still has her own 2 eggs and when they hatch it will be a great view.

Costume Lady said...

I guess the tiny babies didn't get enough 'coverage' from their busy 'Surrogate Mom' :(

Haven't seen very many hummers here, yet~

magpie said...

I'm sorry to hear of the baby hummers...but you're right, nice to try...
I didn't open those cams yet...
just running out of time each day

at my brother in law's - I think I could put out some regular feeders AND hummingbird feeders....
hey, why not !!

Friend of mine just sent me some baby owl pictures....
they are so cute, think they are barred owls...

Lolly said...

I didn't see hummers this morn but I heard them. They were probably at the coral honeysuckle. Jack is finishing up the mowing and I have edged. Still need to blow but waiting for Jack to finish then he can monitor the phone. Plumber will call before coming and if no answer they will not come. They have house number and my cell. I mowed with my cell phone on vibrate and tucked close to my heart. LOL Oh Oh....eaglet just branched to the stump!!!!!!!!!!!1

Lolly said...

Wahoooooooooooo! I saw it!!!!! Wow wow wow!!!!!!

Hoda said...

Missy branching up at nine branch...I saw her postion herself and do a hop and spread her wings...

Hoda said...

Pretty exciting LOLLY...Bro is saying how did you do that?Looking up curiously and under her so very cute...this is an event.

Lolly said...

Sometimes you can see the tip of his tail there on the left side. LOL The other is now up and looking at it as if to say "What in the world are you doing?"

Lolly said...

Glad you are here, Hoda, to witness it with me. I tried to get a picture and my laptop froze up on me. Will try another.

Lolly said...

I got a picture of one eaglet in the nest.

Hoda said...

I could not believe my eyes when it happened LOLLY...so good that we were both here...yes periodically I see some feathers on the nine branch and that would be our Missy...her shadow is rflected on the nest too I think...

Lolly said...

I uploaded a picture. I am going to head outdoors now and finish up my blowing.

If you are just checking in, do not panic. Missy branched to the left, onto the stump. You can sometimes see her shadow on the nest and sometimes she her tail feathers there on the left.

Lolly said...

see not she....!!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Lord have mercy. I am glad someone was watching. Sure would like to see her come back down now.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

I am not seeing any indication of anything at the left. Are we sure she is still there?

Hoda said...

Here is a video from DeeWerms of Hancock Foundation of the branching event Missy Branches
