Split time!

Split time!

stronghunter said...

Hi Lynne! That was fun.

stronghunter said...

Made me stutter.

Lynne2 said...

Pain pills got you stuttering Shirley? LOL!

Hope they are making your poor nose feel better. Don't even want to think about how that must have hurt :(

Lynne2 said...

I think this means we have WAX!

stronghunter said...

Pain pills are making me mellow.

stronghunter said...

Yeah, wax and a split.

Lynne2 said...

don't know why but I turned on the cam....poor Ed, they need to retire him and bring back the fun singing animals again! I can just barely see the nest, looks like no one has been there since I left this afternoon.

stronghunter said...

I did not know what they were going to do when I went in, but they needed to take action today because it has already been more than a week.

He said that I also have a deviated septum, and he thinks that's a result of the accident, too. I see him again on Thursday.

stronghunter said...

Yeah, that Ed just does not learn how to take care of his boat.

Lynne2 said...

does he think you'll need surgery for that Shirley?

hedgie said...

Sad news:

Panda death

stronghunter said...

When the pain meds wear off, I'll trim George's claws. Don't think I want to do that right now, though.

As someone said earlier, it gets unpleasant if you cut into the quick.

stronghunter said...

I do not know about surgery yet.

Lynne2 said...

So sad about that panda.

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

This was posted early on Brandon's CaringBridge page. Please hold this family up in your prayers, bless their hearts!!

Brandon made a major turn for the worse early this morning. We were faced with a decision regarding intubating him. Partially based upon Brandon telling one of his docs that he is not a quitter, we made the decision to go forward with the intubation.

Before he was intubated, he was able to spend time with each family member and his friends who were here telling them he loved them and asking us to take care of each other. We will post more later on this wonderful time.

We have made the decision that the intubation will only be on a short term basis and if there are no signs of improvement, we will make the decision to stop the intubation.

Our prayers now are for a miracle, and if not God's will; wisdom, peace, & grace and ask you to join us in them.

stronghunter said...

Lynne, I watched it get dark at the cam. No sign of eagles or eagle footprints.

Lynne2 said...

Right before I left to go babysitting, I heard the RS hawk outside so I ran out to look. First thing I saw was a smaller hawk in the tree where the eagle was....and then off to the right there were THREE RS hawks, just raising hell! Ran back in to get cam, GONE. I think I got a picture of the smaller one, and one RS, but will have to check later.

Lynne2 said...

oh how sad about Brandon....prayers continue.

stronghunter said...

Prayers for Brandon and his family.

Yes, very sad about the panda.

hedgie said...

Oh, Sissy, that is very sad.....Brandon has fought the good fight. Prayers for a peaceful transition, and for the family.

hedgie said...

Shirley....did the dr. numb your nose with the cocaine spray??????Can't imagine going through that without..........awful. I am hurting for you...

glo said...

Lynn Much better luck at the dam today. glad that I went. Well I figured you wouldn't cover her face but ya know they blindfold eagles and they go to sleep and they blindfold horses to get them out of a fire so I thought I better be specific just in case. I want it to help you and Mai. Good Luck and let me know how it works in a message. Chances of me finding it on here after tonight are slim. I will check in some but it could be few and far between and I won't have time to read all the in between messages.

hedgie said...

Glo, don't think I will do anymore tonight. Lighting not the greatest, plus I am slam wore out, as Sissy says! Mai seems to be, too. Don't know how much she slept in crate while I was gone....left her with a kong with pieces of kibble dipped in peanut butter--frozen--as Lynne suggested. Should have kept her well occupied, plus good for teething!

Mema Jo said...

I had a very busy day with Christine & family - the girls are just beautiful in their looks but more so in their actions.

I am very touched by the news of little Brandon. Prayers for him to miraculously to be healed and for his family to have faith.

I was sorry to read about the young panda - he was only 4 yrs old... Too young to pass -- too soon.

Mema Jo said...

It was already dark when I returned home - cam was black. I realize no one today sighted our eagles......

Lynne2 said...

Total Lunar Eclipse this week!

stronghunter said...

He numbed my nose with some kind of spray and some cloth things that had threads attached, but it hurt when he pushed them in. I felt like he was pushing them all the way to my brain.

It was still painful.

He said that he usually sends people home with some Valium and does the job the next day, but there wasn't time. He did ask when I had called--think he was trying to evaluate whether the staff had given me the appointment as quickly as they should have.

stronghunter said...

Maybe I should have pushed for an earlier appointment, but that part is over now.

stronghunter said...

Lunar eclipse--when? Although I am not sure I will brave the cold. Maybe look out the window.

Judie said...

Hello everyone,

Tried to do a quick check of most recent posts but need to catch up more tomorrow.

Shirley, I hope what was done worked and Lynn, hope what was done for Mai worked. Sent a message to Bev.

Very, very tired all day today after seeing surgeon. Infection continues.

Sent Darth to Kennedy Center to see South Pacific with a friend of ours.

Headed for bed early tonight. Pleasant dreams everyone. The night light is on.

hedgie said...

Night-night, Judie. Sticking with the same antibiotic??? Rest well.
I'm sure Darth will enjoy his evening out. Hope he fixed you ice cream before he left!

Shirley, really too bad he couldn't have given you the valium and let it take effect before he did anything. Grrrr.

Thanks for eclipse info, Lynne!

NCSuzan said...

Lynne, thank you for the article on the eclipse. I had forgotten the date.

Shirley hope you are feeling better.

stronghunter said...

Yeah, I was willing to accept any drugs he might have offered.

stronghunter said...

Judie, I hope you get rid of that infection very soon. You've been through enough, already.

paula eagleholic said...

Yo Steve we need a weekend thread!

paula eagleholic said...

Ouch, Shirley, but I'm sure you're glad it's over and done with. The surgery for the septum isn't fun, either. John had it done, but he was very happy he did. He can breath through his nose so much better!

paula eagleholic said...

Did the grocery store on the way home, have everything for Christmas dinner...except rolls and dessert. Not sure if I want to do yeast rolls or something easier, and trying to think of something different for dessert.

paula eagleholic said...

Never knew pandas could get epilepsy.

NCSuzan said...

Holiday Affair is on TCM but cannot remember who brought it to our attention.

paula eagleholic said...

That would be Lynne2, hope she's watching it!

hedgie said...

I'm recording it, Suzan. Afraid I would fall asleep if I tried to watch it now. I think it was either Lynne or Diann who told us.

Paula, there are yeast rolls in a pan in the freezer case that Christie uses a lot and says they are the best....I can't remember the brand, tho'. Tried to call her and she's not home. She uses them to make pepperoni rolls, too.

Lynne2 said...

OH NO I FORGOT!!!!!

Lynne2 said...

Just posted a bunch of pics on my blog...Birds, last Sat tree cutting and Soldier's Delight hike.

Lynne2 said...

the moon is so very bright tonight that I can still see the nest!

Off to shower...

BEagle said...

Chocolate pudding for dessert. Maybe layered with a whipped topping with cherries in it or strawberries.

Ooooh. How about layering with a peanut butter confection? : D

Hello Folks.

BEagle said...

If the eagles show up on the nest, the snow will help silhouette them. I can see the nest partially where the snow is.

BEagle said...

Rhodes has very good stuff.

BEagle said...

Great Shirley! Your nose is fixed!

BEagle said...

Next time drink about 5 margueritas!

BEagle said...

I missed Holiday Affair too. Dag naggit.

Watching Miracle on 34th Street. TCM

BEagle said...

It's hard to take the news of Branden.
Earnest prayer will continue.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks for the tips on the Rhodes rolls, will have to check out store in Frederick, doubt that Jubilee has them.

LOL, Shirley wouldn't be feeling any pain after 5 marguaritas!

paula eagleholic said...

I still may do my own, though. It's kind of a tradition that my Mom started ♥ I might catch he__ if I don't, LOL

BEagle said...

Buttermilk Salad is easy and a refreshing dessert type dish.

BEagle said...

Oh. Tradition rules at times.
Right O.

paula eagleholic said...

My kids used to help roll them up....they were yeast rolls, but we used to do them in crescents.

paula eagleholic said...

Buttermilk salad?

hedgie said...

Me, too: Buttermilk salad????

hedgie said...

Hi, BEagle! Did you have to work today? How much snow did you all get?

hedgie said...

My Grandma's rolls are yeast rolls, but they are done with butter, cinnamon and brown sugar. They are Christmas breakfast! I still make them every year from scratch. Christie helps me most of the time.....but I'll be doing it on my own this year. :(

paula eagleholic said...

This is what i found for it

Ingredients:Servings:
6

1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple, do not drain
1 (3 1/2 ounce) package strawberry Jell-O gelatin dessert
1 cup buttermilk
8 ounces Cool Whip
Change Measurements: US | Metric

Directions:Prep Time: 10 mins
Total Time: 4 1/4 hrs
1 Heat undrained pineapple and jello in a saucepan till jello is dissolved.
2 Mix in buttermilk and Cool Whip.
3 Pour into mold or bowl.
4 Refrigerate for several hours or overnight.

paula eagleholic said...

Comments on the recipe were to try it with different flavors of jello and different fruits.

BEagle said...

Lime jello (or any kind you prefer)
(6oz)
Crushed Pineapple (20oz)
Buttermilk (2C)
One of those frozen bowls of whipped topping. (8oz)

Bring crushed pineapple to a boil and then stir in jello till all dissolves. Refrigerate till it begins to set (about an hour).

Add two cups buttermilk. Refrigerate till thickens.

Fold in the topping.

You can throw in some meaty nuts too.

That's it. Pretty simple.

BEagle said...

The method on the one I shared worked better for me.

You cannot go wrong with this salad.

hedgie said...

Thanks for sharing the pics, Lynne.
Comments there!

There's been a sprinkling of frosty dew about all day. We returned to work as usual this morning. I worked until my son called and I went to pick him up shortly after lunch.

We stopped and had a meat-eaters pizza at Bellacini's for dinner. I feel very heavy right now. : D

BEagle said...

Happy Birthday Master James!!

hedgie said...

Recipe sounds very good!!

Used to always make a black cherry jello w/ black cherries salad, but no one will eat it but me, so don't bother anymore. Grandma always made it, too. I also like carrott salad, but it's another one that no one else likes. Weird kids!

Lynne2 said...

It was a FIVE STINKBUG shower....one on the ceiling, one on the floor, one on the sink, one in the tub and one on the mini blinds. REALLY????

Happy Birthday James!! Hope the gang is having fun visiting!

BEagle said...

My mother used to make lime jello with pineapple chunks, carrots, and pecans.

That's about as fruity as I can get with it. There's always room for jello.

I still have yet to do the lemon pie that Shirley shared.

BEagle said...

I really like carrot salad too.

BEagle said...

I knocked a stink-o bug-o off my Christmas cactus!

Ho Ho Ho! While at Park luncheon today (lots of food!), a beautiful juvenile eagle sat in tree outside Vis. Ctr. It had a variety of colored markings, almost uniform, like large tweed! I'll take camera tomorrow!
I was checking the past couple years' eagle photos & in '09, there was one in nest on 11-21.Of course that's the only pic I got. This year I've seen birds twice at the nest in Nov. & Dec., but nothing much going on there lately, that I've seen. Looks like nest is larger, tho.
Got home & did lights & huge wreath in picture window. I alternate years w/it and manger scene.
Gotta eat something soon & check laundry.
BTW, Fubby ordered some Xmas items from someone named "Peggy"!!!!He doesn't know if it's the outsource guy on TV ad named "Peggy"!!They sound like they are in Eastern Europe or Russia. Today F got an email from Peggy saying order should arrive by Xmas. ROFLMBO!!!

NCSuzan said...

Happy Birthday James!!!!!

I like Waldorf Salad.

Hi, Everyone,

Well, got the various errands done. It was NOT fun driving around out there--people here are just plain nuts! They are driving like absolute maniacs! Glad I got the last box of gifts off to the kids today. It should get there either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Thank God, our oldest car passed the smog test! It has 218,000 miles on it. We were really praying about that one.

I'm really upset that nobody has seen our eagles, and not anyone at NCTC either, I guess. Where can they be?!
Hope the night cam is working soon. Maybe they come to the nest at night, when no one can see them.

Well, need to go spend some time with Hubby and Emma. Sissy, prayers continue from this roost for Brandon and his family and friends. Hoping for a miracle.

Gosh, Lynn, that Kong treat sounds really good! Will have to look for that peanut butter in a squeeze tube.
I was just looking at Emma tonight, and realized that she's completely outgrown 2 of her 3 winter coats! The one she's wearing now is getting too short to cover her whole back, too. Wow, forgot how FAST they grow!
The first one we got her, a fleece hoodie, looks like it MIGHT fit a Chihuahua puppy, it's so small!
I've been feeding her a slightly larger portion at each meal. She's the type that if she's full, she just leaves the rest, and will go back to finish it later.

BEagle said...

I am not much of a cook. I tried chocolate fudge and had to chisel it out of the pan with a small hammer and screwdriver. I tried again and it came out like wet chocolate sand.

I sort of gave up on baked goods after that.

Ms Bookworm said...

Ooooh, Shirley,
I sure don't envy you, considering the torture the doctor put you through today! Prayers that the pain goes away pronto! Hope your nose is as good as new. Has George been taking really good care of you? Bet he has been. Somehow they just know when you aren't feeling 100%.

Our friend Andrea in Nevada sent us a picture message today. They got quite a bit of snow, and she took a picture of her front yard. It looked like a big bowl of sugar. The high there today was only 39. No wonder Emma doesn't mind rain at all! No big deal!

Ms Bookworm said...

Oops! Please excuse my manners!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MARGY'S JAMES!!!!
Hope it's been a spectacular day for you!

BEagle said...

NatureN..it is so good to hear you talk about the eagles.

So glad we don't have those smog test things here. I had to do those in Nashville.

Ms Bookworm said...

Well, gonna go spend some time with Hubby and Emma. Am going to turn on the porch light and the Christmas lights. Judie, thanks for turning on the night light.

Have said prayers for everyone. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are enabled. Wrap up in those flannel sheets and electric blankets, folks, an sleep well. I'll talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight!

Andy, I was just marveling today at how much Mai has grown in 2 weeks----mostly in height!!! Her sweater still fits---it was a bit baggy before.

I am totally worn out, too, gang. Don't think I will last much longer. Dozed off twice on sofa.

Flannel sheets and electric blanket for sure, Andy! Can't wait to snuggle in.

Everyone sleep well. Heal!!! Just a reminder----love you all!

So I'll say my goodnights now, and prayers for all!

Just dropping in to say Hi ( : and that it has been a "full day for me".

Picked up rental, got a yummy smoffin (muffin, egg and bacon) from Sheetz. I like it better that McDonald's.

Came home here PARKED MY CAR. In house we three looked and laughed at pictures. Daughter even helped me find pictures I have been looking for. They were right in front of my face. Although the album was on the BIG bookcase where pictures in frames and many things set. She did find a picture of the hat that Daddy wore when we 1st got together. That made us both happy.

Told care of Little Man.

Left and they took me so I could show them the wonderful EAGLES NEST OF THE HOME OF LIBERTY AND BELLE. Top of tree up high is there where Belle and Liberty sit. It truly is still a beautiful tree. The guard did say he has seen both of the eagles. I said to him, "well normaly at this time they are already fixed and fixing that nest up. Coming in and out many, many times a day". He said, "Well maybe those birds know something we don't and it is best they wait and they won't have such a hard egg laying winter". I sure hope and daughter is along with us praying that Liberty and Belle come back to the nest. They ask me many questions about the nest. So my daughter said Mom you are great at telling things like a story. So tell us the story of the nest, eagles, eaglets and the Momsters and Dadsters. They were in awww over some of the things they learn't and both was excited about how the parents care for the eaglets. ( : Also how the eagles care for each other too. ( :

She is coming sometimes tomorrow to help set up camera. Try to get the MP3 Player working for when I can start at the pool.

Prayers and good night my friends.

Went to Best Buy in Martinsburg and daughter helped me with buying a camera and things I needed for it. No Gene I did not get the one you have. Brought items home and she set some things up while I fed Little Man. We did some clowning around and much laughter her, boyfriend and myself.

Then I think it was getting near 8:30 or 9 PM we when to Ruby Tuesdays. LOBSTER yummy !!!!.

By that time I was more than pooped.

I have not caughter up on comments. I am sorry for that because I worry how everyone is doing health wise.

Prayers for those that need them with health problems, and any other type of troubles. Safe driving prayers for Glo and possibly others.

Lynne2 said...

Glad you had such a great day Dana! And glad to know that the eagles were seen by the guard.

Oh, Lynn....I don't know how to answer directly from blog comments, but the track piece there I believe may be original but repaired often over the years.

Regarding Steve's beard...he grows one every winter. In that picture, it's just about a week old. It grows FAST! He had one when we got married. Then he shaves it off in March or April. There are pics on FB of the wedding, and WOW, it's a lot whiter now!!

I want to thank all of you for your Birthday Greetings for my grandson, James, who turned 11 yesterday. I will show him the blog comments addressed to him, when next he visits.

Our little small party was a hit, very loving and fun time, but afterwards, he, his father, mother and grandfather, headed back to Berkeley Springs, and shortly thereafter, Mom and Grandpa had to start on their Southward trek to Florida....so a happy time to be followed by a sad, emotional farewell....his time with his mother and grandfather was good....
