April 21, 2010: Growing Fast and Some Great News for Birds by Bob Sallnger
Posted on April 21, 2010 at 8:16 PM
The chicks are now about a week old and growing fast. Amazing to think that they are already about 1/6th of the way towards flying. Their feathers are thickening up and they have more than doubled in weight. They are now able to keep themselves warm to some degree and as some viewers have already noted, mom will spend less time during the day brooding them. She will continue to brood the young periodically during the day and through the night for some time to come. Even if you can't see a parent on Raptor Cam, they are almost always quite close by to protect the young from predators. We got some great news for birds of prey this afternoon from Washington DC. Portland Audubon has been working with Congressman DeFazio and Senator Merkley for more than a year to pass legislation that will increase penalties for intentionally and maliciously harming protected bird species. Unfortunately, even though it has been illegal to harm protected birds since 1918, we still see way too much illegal shooting today. Every year Audubon's Wildlife Care Center is brought birds including red-tailed hawks, eagles, peregrines and herons that have been illegally shot. Last fall, our legislation passed the full House of Representatives and today it passed out of the Senate Committee on the Environment and Public Works with strong bipartisan support. We hope that it will pass the full Senate and be signed into law in the very near future. Thanks to the work of Senator Merkley and Congressman DeFazio birds like the Raptor Cam Red-tails will soon have stronger protection!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANNE-MARIE!!! Wishing you all the best--hope it's a spectacular day for you!
Happy Birthday, also, to your daughter, Mema Jo!
I'm just about to hit the road and go pay a couple of bills. Thankfully, we got our State tax refund check yesterday! Just in the nick of time! Thanks for that one, Lord!
Hope you all are having a fantastic day. When I get home I need to do more in the back yard, so will just check in quickly to say hello, then run again. Take care, and talk to you later. :o]
Palmer rolled over and was prepared to eat even from a lying down position - but that didn't work - OK, is there any more good stuff left on that fish???
GOOD AFTERNOON... I'm sitting here with my head under the dryer and watching those Andean bear cubs. Somehow it just puts a song in your heart to see such playful sweetness. It does de-stress to watch them...although, I am not stressed today:) But, I will remember them the next time I need to de-stress! Time to get the curlers out and head for GG's. Pork BBQ and Pasta Fagioli Soup...fruit salad. Have a good evening. BBLT
Good luck to Mattie She has worked hard and now awaits her award. I have posted small group of photos on Facebook but have much larger group for Glo's Glimpses that I am getting ready ready to upload for Flickr. Its rainy here or Dex and i would be sitting out by that nest again today. I am sure I will go back next week.
Hornby Eagles Join us for "Hatch Watch" ... the first egg could pip at any time now. It can take up to 48 hours for a chick to work its way out of the egg after it pips. Doug expects full hatch of the first egg to happen on Sunday, or perhaps Monday.
Just saw a BIG orange and white blob at edge of field next to hedgerow. It wasn't moving & thought it might be a large bag, but wanted a pic. Crept up yard to hide behind a tree & it finally moved.Must have been snoozing. The biggest fox I've ever seen!!!!~~guess it's not a coyote--wrong colors. Got some blurry pics,(I hate when you've got strong zoom & it's blurry anyway!) but will try to do major surgery when I get home. Think it's the one that was shedding---many colors & a little scruffy. Leaving almost in dark one evening, a large one zoomed across the dirt road here. Later---back to work Happy B'day too, to Jo's daughter (& she won't tell us which one 'cuz she spilled the age beans! ☺ )
Jim, the Delta nest I think...the one that was an old hawk's nest. I know one fell out last year and then OWL put a net under it in case the other fell.
My 2nd daughter turns 50 really on the 27th - the same as Mauley's - Susan from Catonsville - My 1st daughter, Kristen turned 50 last year. My 3rd daughter, Jennifer turns 50. next year. The party is this evening due to being a Surprise. We hope!
Jim, I've been a bit confused on the Delta nests...I am pretty sure there used to be 2 of them, Delta 1 and Delta OWL (which is the only one that has a cam now) Here is a link to that cam and I have no idea why it's not an option on the Hancock site anymore. delta 1 nest
OK Jim if you are still here, I email Richard at Hancock and here is the scoop-

YUp, both Delta nests gone, the second one got blown away this year, as did the old Sidney nest. I posted a link, I think about the 1st Delta pair, they found them in a ground nest this year, eggs didn't make it...
The Sidney nest is sharing now. Cute little one that escaped the claws of a crow and peeping like crazy for sone .... whatever. Hard to see because the mom is blocking view. Looks like the chick has a tuft on it's head.
Before I forget, thank you to everyone posting animals new and people news, haven't been able to check on much at all this week, not even our nest but a couple of peeks.
yes, Paula same here, sometimes 3 x's....it seems since I have had IE8, whenever I send an email or pics thru OE, I have to then sign in again to my webmail and sign on to the blog again
LOL BEeagle. Celebrating with a donut. well I certainly do not blame you. I am sure I would do pretty much the same thing.
Paula. That is an awfully precious avatar you have there. She really is a doll.
Got a nice picture or two of a mom eagle covering her young with her wings just posted to slideshow on Glo's Glimpses. Strange as I was thinking of that verse myself as I was adding it to the show.
Click my name and follow to Blog list. Choose Glo's Glimpses and enjoy. I certainly did.
Just checking in & sorry haven't done new pics yet. Had a tiring day & have to do it again, so I need a Panda nap or just plain go to bed!!! If coffee helps, I'll be back ☺
One last look at the rascals. They were at it again in the process of bedding down. One manages to stay out of the way. Call the Mo, Larry and Curly. lol
I read recently of a poor eagle in Florida that got hit by a golf ball, broke his poor wing. But the eagle is recovering and they hope to release it back into the wild.
I'm glad my blood sugar was normal because I just didn't want to pass up that yummy piece of cake. Get together was a total surprise to Susan. She was so startled that she turned and started to walk out the door. lol Lots of family, neighbors, co workers and friends. The finger food buffet was delicious- meatballs, cheeses, shrimp, baked crab spread, Bruschetta, brie cheese and little sandwich wraps.
That is an amazing story. The chances of hitting an eagle with a golf ball are so slim. That's why a golfer is supposed to yell "fore" when there are people around. Poor eagle, I am glad it's doing ok.
lol I was going to say that I also need to input my password twice before my initial comment publishes..... BUT that dang blogger cop just now made a liar out of me........
I am going to son's tomorrow to watch the boys while John works...Mom taking Gianni with her to cousin's bridal shower...then later we are going to have something on the grill...probably steak, yum.
Well, gang, I worked really hard this afternoon. i'm tired, and my legs are aching and cramping. Time for a muscle relaxant and hot bath. I am saying my goodnights now. No rain yet; moon is ringed w/ clouds and no stars visible, so bet we'll have rain by morning. Hope everyone has a restful sleep. Prayers for all our many needs. BTW: no answer from Chrissy to my email this week......:(
Hi, Gang, Didn't make it back here this afternoon--got lots more trimming done on the crazy asparagus fern. Gosh, that stuff is like bermuda grass once it takes hold! Had to compact the trimmings down in the trash can so there's room for grass clippings on Tuesday. HUGE can is half full now! Not nearly done--will take several weeks to tame the stuff. Does look much better now, though. I actually found a hydrangea bush that was totally buried by the stuff! Not any more, though.
Lynn, you and I are on the same page tonight. I'm kinda sore, too, but not too bad. Hope a good night's sleep fixes both of us!
Good to hear from you today, Shirley! Hope you feel perkier in the morning.
By the way, CONGRATULATIONS to Mattie and her friends! Way to GO!
Well, I'm going to go take a nice hot shower and work the kinks out. Leaving the night light on, and the porch light. Eye scanner's ready to go. Prayers said for everyone--especially Chrissy and family! Hope the lottery ticket's a winner! Sleep well, and will talk to you in the morning. Good night, and God bless! Love all you guys! :o]
Hi all! Have had a great day! Reunions are fun, but poor Jack. He is just tolerant of this all, but have had a fabulous time!
I am just exhausted though! Wanted to stick my head in and say hi. Heading to my little shower in this trailer!
This is an all years reunion, so we really get to see a lot of folks that you were a few years ahead and some a few years back. Interesting! Only 7 from my class, but my best friend and two other really good friends. Having fun! Oh, and I saw one special couple that I baby sat for when I was a teen. How cool is that?
I knew I forgot something Sat is Youth Hunt Day for Turkey Gobbler Season in WV Then on the 26th Gobbler Season officially opens in WV until May 22 Hunters required to complete their hunt each day early afternoon I think at 1 pm
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... It is 48° here in Nestville and is only going up to 58° and going to be rainy...hope it holds off til Megan is done at the Market.
I looked at Loretta's Foxy Fotos, and what a beauty he is! Good job, girl!
Morning all. Mei is on CBS right now with a keeper!! Lots of hoopla, w/ nationwide coverage! THey all make it sound like birth is momentarily imminent and a sure thing----the keeper is explaining!
Good morning! 59 and bright sunshiney here in the hills! Had storms last night...a little hail, heavy rain, wind, and fancy ligtening show. Interesting when you are in a trailer!
Today a picnic and then tonight a dinner dance. Well, we we go for the dinner, and the visiting but not the dance....Jack does not dance. Oh, well....over the years I have lost any ablily to dance as well. lol
I'm not watching any reports on TV about the panda, these local yokel news people are idiots...yesterday, on local Channel 7 , they showed a panda outside and said it was Mei Xiang, it wasn't, it was Tian Tian, channel 4 was showing pictures of Gao Gao out in SD

Palmer makes a sort of whistle-peep sound to keep that food comin' - impatient!
Eatin' time our nest!
Wow, Palmer is much bigger on the live feed...and noisy too!
Isn't it cute, KB?
Hi, Everyone!
It's like, hurry Up! I'm starving, I'm starving!
I can't help but grin when I watch this
Thanks for the RTH info, Mits..nice to hear about that bill, i surely hope it passes.
yeah, jmho, think the birds of prey, still need some protecting from some digbats out there.
Palmer rolled over and was prepared to eat even from a lying down position - but that didn't work - OK, is there any more good stuff left on that fish???
Or was it a fish? Maybe that was a turtle shell?
Lots of activity here
Andean Bears at FONZ
lol I guess that is what Hope missed by being an only cub! lol
lol...Jo, they are too cute.
poor Billie Jean has her hands full with those two.
I love to see the little ones run - it's not really a run but a gallop!
yeah more like step, step, slide:)
lol...think the one was playing catch me if you can, Mom.
Well that made my afternoon watching those 2 little cubs and seeing just how playful they are!
Each day it seems like Palmer gets more dark fly feathers! Can't wait to see Palmer hover over food brought in.
Went over to look at recent videos of Hope and Lily. Hope sure knows how to 'hug a tree'
Coffee time....... BBILW
Well, we know that Mattie has placed either 1, 2, 3 or honorable mention because there is a ribbon on their table! Will let you know more when I do!
BBLT
Oh Sharon, so excited for Mattie! Anyone of those ribbons would do, but we are hoping for #1:)
GOOD LUCK MATTIE JANE♥
SHARON ? What color is that ribbon?
LOL, Jo, that's what I was going to ask!!!!
the official 24/7 pregnancy watch has begun at the zoo, and right on cue, Mei is in the birthing den, so MTBR in the days or weeks to come.
Happy Birthday to your daughter, Jo....which one is it?
Good luck to Mattie She has worked hard and now awaits her award. I have posted small group of photos on Facebook but have much larger group for Glo's Glimpses that I am getting ready ready to upload for Flickr.
Its rainy here or Dex and i would be sitting out by that nest again today. I am sure I will go back next week.
oh poor Mei is having a sneezing fit...must be the pollen
Ribbon is either Gold or yellow/orange.....Sissy still hasn't said what place it stands for!!!
well so much for the birthing den, she is back in the other den stuffing her face
Good news, Mits! Let's hope, hope, hope for a cub!
The Andean bear den looks like an under-house crawlspace!!
The ribbon was just to show they placed. The awards ceremony starts at 4:45. I am a nervous wreck!
update from Hornby eagle site....
Hornby Eagles Join us for "Hatch Watch" ... the first egg could pip at any time now. It can take up to 48 hours for a chick to work its way out of the egg after it pips. Doug expects full hatch of the first egg to happen on Sunday, or perhaps Monday.
Thanks, Mits....I was just getting ready to post it!
Okay, Shar....should know SOON then!!!! Thanks!
LOL Mits Bears get to eat before delivery. They only starve humans who are birthing. Stuff on Mei :-)
yes, Glo they are lucky bears:)and she is a spoiled one too:)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANNE MARIE ☺
Just saw a BIG orange and white blob at edge of field next to hedgerow. It wasn't moving & thought it might be a large bag, but wanted a pic. Happy B'day too, to Jo's daughter (& she won't tell us which one 'cuz she spilled the age beans! ☺ )
Does anyone remember the name or location of that eagle nest that fell apart the last two year in a row??
People went to the site, found live chicks and fed them until they could release them again ... both years.
[:~D]
Jim
ceremony is starting now:)go Mattie
Hi all....no way can I catch up!
Jim, the Delta nest I think...the one that was an old hawk's nest. I know one fell out last year and then OWL put a net under it in case the other fell.
Thanks, Lynn2. I believe that is the name of it.
[:~D]
Jim
Nope. I googled "Delta .....", and it is one we watched (in B.C., Canada, I think); but it doesn't look like the one I'm thinking of.
[:~D]
Jim
So we should know soon if Mattie and the gals got a special ribbon.
I think that just being there is so much to be proud of
for sure, just making it there, and getting recognition is great...
My 2nd daughter turns 50 really on the 27th - the same as Mauley's - Susan from Catonsville -
My 1st daughter, Kristen turned 50 last year.
My 3rd daughter, Jennifer turns 50.
next year.
The party is this evening due to being a Surprise. We hope!
3rd Place!!! Hooray for Mattie and her buddies!!! So proud of them!
well Happy Birthday to Susan:)
that is wonderful news for them:)
Gee, Jo, you were a busy mama for sure!!!
That is what it was all about in my days........ FAMILY
Lots of work then but I am glad I got them all now!
Jim, I've been a bit confused on the Delta nests...I am pretty sure there used to be 2 of them, Delta 1 and Delta OWL (which is the only one that has a cam now)
Here is a link to that cam and I have no idea why it's not an option on the Hancock site anymore.
delta 1 nest
Time to head down the road
to Frederick Road......
Talk to you all this evening.....
oops my bad, it IS on the Hancock site down at the very bottom.
The view is different from last year and I can't find any info on that nest.
Hello!
Have been missing chatting with you all.
Still need to try to catch up on the reading.
Just heard on the news that we may possibly have a baby panda at the zoo this weekend.

Heading home, c ya later,
Palmer in the middle, feets sticking out
Good evening to all you all.
TGIF!
What happened to Palmer? It looks like a zebra has replaced Palmer!!!
I can hardly believe the growing Palmer is accomplishing. WOW!
Palmer must be nearly as big as Lib.
The PH duo are frolicking on their nest.
The RTH trio are in unattended and in snockered land. No change of them fighting at the moment.
And what happened in OR. There is sunshine and no snow. I can actually see a nest again!
the Sidney nest is not sharing.
My sugar was down so I celebrated with a donut.
The WE nest is busy with dinner.
Okay. I had two donuts but they were very small.
The TH twins are huddled against their nest rock or maybe that is 82's perch.
The Sidney nest is sharing now. Cute little one that escaped the claws of a crow and peeping like crazy for sone .... whatever. Hard to see because the mom is blocking view. Looks like the chick has a tuft on it's head.
Wow. Palmer is curled up.
The WE nest doesn't look very big or deep. I don't see how the two will be able to test their wings. That should be very interesting.
Jo's daughter have a 50's birthday. Happy Birthday to Jo's daughter.
Noah. Can part the sea with those beautiful, soft looking feathers. Noah is in Noah's favorite place, the upper left corner in the screen view.
oh wow Loon cam is up!! Just missed them mating!
thanks, Lynne, had just checked there this afternoon to see if it was up yet...
I believer that is Lib on our nest picking up sticks, nestorating.
Throwing fluff on Palmer.
What pretty designs on Palmer.
I see one really big foot sticking out from Palmer.
Palmer, of the Big Foot Palmers! LOL!
So adorable!
And off the nest flies Lib. And Palmer just stretched those wings up.
Pretty Palmer. Standing on those big feet, getting nest legs.
I see that tail wiggle!
I believe that is Belle on the nest now. Crunching around. Reminds me of Deut 32:11
I think Palmers feet are clost to the same size as Belle's.
Evening, all!
Lots of chirps from Palmer as Belle stands over him tonight.
IE and FF working fine from home.
Nice to be able to peek in!
Anyone else have to enter their password twice? Mine's been that way for a month or more, just on the initial sign in to the blog.
Gonna go back and reread, just skimmed it earlier!
The loons have mated!!! Apparently about 45 mins. ago. No sign of them on cam now.
Before I forget, thank you to everyone posting animals new and people news, haven't been able to check on much at all this week, not even our nest but a couple of peeks.
Was Palmer trying to gnaw on Belle's foot?
Paula, it almost always takes 2 or 3 times for me before blog takes my password!!
yes, Paula same here, sometimes 3 x's....it seems since I have had IE8, whenever I send an email or pics thru OE, I have to then sign in again to my webmail and sign on to the blog again
I think the wushi feasts are over.
I looked it up
Deut 32:11
ike an eagle that stirs up its nest
and hovers over its young,
that spreads its wings to catch them
and carries them on its pinions.
No problems here with the blog, cams or any other such paraphernalia.
Maybe it's time for a C/Cleaner.
I think that is so touching when Belle dotes on Palmer. Earlier when she was preening Palm's feather was so sweet.
I wish spidey would keep it's web on the bottom camera view.
Beautiful that God thinks of eagles and their ways.
Thanks, Glo. Enjoyed the pics!!
The pictures were beautiful Glo.
Instant relaxation. What a way to calm jangled nerves.
Thank you.
I think Spldey found the Christmas garland and spread it over the lens.
Congrats to Mattie and her friends!
Welcome back Margy, hope you had a nice afternoon with James.
Jo, Happy Birthday to Susan, hope the party was a surprise!
Lynne- how's the doggies? What about your foster? Any nibbles?
Thanks, all, glad to know the blog is doing that to others!
Hey, BEagle, nice reports...thank you so much!
Lynn, did anymore of your dogwoods bloom?
Wow how did those TH chicks get sooo big!
and PH and WE as well!
The WE nest used to cover the whole rock, and about a foot deeper. The girls really destroyed it last year!
Just checking in & sorry haven't done new pics yet. Had a tiring day & have to do it again, so I need a Panda nap or just plain go to bed!!!
If coffee helps, I'll be back ☺
Good night all. See you tomorrow. It was a long day.
Nope, Paula....only the one bloomed. :(
I would take up golfing if I saw this all the time!
Gold Course Visitor
hmmm, wonder if they are members of the golf club:)
They probably score a lot of eagles on that golf course. lol
I would make sure that lake was kept stocked always.
It will be curious to see how the eagles handle the WE nest.
One last look at the rascals. They were at it again in the process of bedding down. One manages to stay out of the way. Call the Mo, Larry and Curly. lol
That was the RTH nest.
A few more days will bring some action on the OR nest.
Spidey needs to catch a bug to add to his display.
Yes, spidey has been busy!
I read recently of a poor eagle in Florida that got hit by a golf ball, broke his poor wing. But the eagle is recovering and they hope to release it back into the wild.
I didn't hear any mention of this by anyone...
Dollywood Eaglets
cool, I just checked..their cam is on this season but not working at the moment...didn't think they were going to have it on this year.
Dollywood Eagle cam
I'm glad my blood sugar was normal because I just didn't want to pass up that yummy piece of cake. Get together was a total surprise to Susan. She was so startled that she turned and started to walk out the door. lol

that dang blogger cop just now made a liar out of me........
Brie cheese!! You all know how to party!!
I just can't seem to get the TH cam to work for me today. Maybe I have too much stuff running.
Will be looking forward tomorrow to watching the loon cam......
I had no trouble right now opening TH cam. 82 is there with the eaglets.
2nd link I just posted has a youtube video...
You really have to watch the video, it's great.
Oh yes, thank you, I think it was LYnn, about the loon cam!
Jo, so glad Susan was surprised...sounds like a great party!
I had TH up OK...I've just been enjoying watching all 3 IWS nests :)
I am going to son's tomorrow to watch the boys while John works...Mom taking Gianni with her to cousin's bridal shower...then later we are going to have something on the grill...probably steak, yum.
The hour ride home has done me in...
Headed back the hallway...
Good night All..
Praying for everyones' wants/needs..
(((HUGS))) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Love the golf course eagles video, Paula!!
Jo, sounds like a great party! Glad Susan really WAS surprised! Menu sounds yummy.
Saw the Dollywood things in the AEF newsletter yesterday. Great stuff!
BTW: no answer from Chrissy to my email this week......:(
The TH nest finally came up. Saw a PS from one of the twins.
Thanks for the Pigeon Ford link Paula, will look at that one some more later.
Time to say goodnight. Busy day tomorrow. G'Night.
Oh. Paula, do have fun with Gianni. I am sure you will share hundreds of smooches from the eagle fans. : )
Thanks, BEalge. It will be a fun day.
Heading for bed, catch ya'll in the morning!
Hugs to all ♥

Nite all! Sweet dreams!
Congratulations to Mattie and her partner/s Bravo !
Yep I want to play golf or at least be a Caddy...

Thanks for the info on the Delta 1 nest, Lynne2.
I did find a live feed, which looks like a camera from above like ours, and which looks like a start on a new nest in a new tree.
Not much info found on the old ones so far; will look more later.
Let's hope they've picked a tree that will "grip" the nest materials more securely this time.

I knew I forgot something
Sat is Youth Hunt Day for Turkey Gobbler Season in WV
Then on the 26th Gobbler Season officially opens in WV until May 22
Hunters required to complete their hunt each day early afternoon I think at 1 pm
neat
BWO last pic of the day has the Osprey off the egg cup and egg clearly in view...
think that changes at 5 or 6 am
Wowee, what a web spidey has over the cam lens this morning. Palmer is sleeping.
45° right now and so far no rain.
Have a great day everybody!
Good Morning Everyone.
Put foxy pics on last night---gotta hit the trail☺
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
It is 48° here in Nestville and is only going up to 58° and going to be rainy...hope it holds off til Megan is done at the Market.
I looked at Loretta's Foxy Fotos, and what a beauty he is! Good job, girl!
Coffee is waiting. HAVE A GREAT DAY♥
Morning, all!
Pretty spring day, rain has not yet arrived!
Noah is on her perch this morning! Standing on one leg like a big eagle!
Morning. Just looked in at the Loon nest and it is raining.
Morning all. Mei is on CBS right now with a keeper!! Lots of hoopla, w/ nationwide coverage! THey all make it sound like birth is momentarily imminent and a sure thing----the keeper is explaining!
Wow, Just saw Palmer walking on his actual feets!
Can see tail feathers coming in too :)
Palmer just found a nestover, took it to the back of the nest.
Oh, well....over the years I have lost any ablily to dance as well. lol
Peeked in and saw Palmer in the shadows at the back of the nest.
Turning the computer over to Jack, but wanted to say...
Hasve a great day and a great weekend. I am!☺
911 call for Traffic Hazard...one of our main roads...2 geese with babies that won't move. Sure hope all the idiots STOP!
Lolly, you can be a twinkle toes without Jack!! Dance with someone else!!
The winners for the BWE names have been announced. Aquila and Avis
Good morning. Cloudy and looks like it could rain at any time here. O have been watching the panda cam off and on this morning.
Lynn, I hope the geese get safely across.
Aquila means eagle in Latin and that is the males name
Avis means bird in Latin and that is the females name.
somehow I just knew Beavis and Butthead would not make it....Good SATURDAY morning everyone.
Thanks, Ceil. They think they have a male and female. I would have to agree, one is definitely larger than the other.
Parent just arrived our nest, now calling out! Something near?
Good morning everyone! I see our Palmer is doing FANTASTIC!
What an amazing chick we have this year :)
Hope everyone has a great weekend, stay happy and healthy, enjoy Spring :)
Interesting to see how much Palmer has grown and changed the couple of days I did not watch.
Our eagle is calling!
Adult not happy, more calls
Hedgie, I hope that someone herded the geese to safety.
Parent standing over Palmer, who is very still. Calling has finally stopped, intruder must be gone
wonder what it was????
Palmer is staying close.
Parent still standing over Palmer, who is chirping now
Good Morning to ALL in Eagleland. Those were some loud calls. Wonder what is near the nest.
I haven't seen Palmer in so long. Look at those feathers ( :
I'm not watching any reports on TV about the panda, these local yokel news people are idiots...yesterday, on local Channel 7 , they showed a panda outside and said it was Mei Xiang, it wasn't, it was Tian Tian, channel 4 was showing pictures of Gao Gao out in SD
I don't know, but it was certainly too close to the nest!
Looks like the intrusion wore Palmer out! He just has his head down, snoozing. That's one big chick we've got there, and look at all those feathers!
Paula I got to my email first. Thank you this time as in the past have been a great lady to speak for our nest and eagles. Thank You (:
That was a loud warning to whatever it was.
guess they think a panda is a panda, Mits.
Hi birdgirl!
Nor Lewis and Clark, Mits.
Parent still alert. Palmer still hiding.
yep, they really don't care.
yes, that is right no L&C:(
Well, Dana, we'll see what the reporter puts in the article! She seemed really nice :)
Gotta get a move on, heading to son's shortly
aww, Palmer is preening :)
guess we can start to look for another osprey egg soon at BWO
Hah that was funny! Palmer was nibbling on parent's wing
I think Palmer wants out of there...nibbling on Belle's feathers!
Mei has all of her enrichment toys in the birthing den with her this a.m.
The blog keeps putting posts inbetween posts!
