GOOD MORNING STEVE!!----THANKS for the new thread!!----THANKS JIM for the update!!---You are our #1 EAGLE DAD today & everyday!!!---LIFE IS GOOD---ENJOY!!!
PS STEVE!---'LIVE' is GOOD too!-- We still LOVE you!!!
I hate to admit it, Norma, but I missed the Preakness yesterday.
I really love the Triple Crown races, and I wanted to watch it, but when it came time, I was doing something else and forgot all about the race!
I did watch a clip on U Tube later though, and Big Brown looks fantastic. He really has a good chance to win the Crown! But I'm gun shy about predicting it...can't think how many times in the last 30 yrs. my sure Crown winner got beat by some hard charging stretch-runner, which nobody ever heard of.
HELEN!---I was watching the video too!!---It pointed out that the chicks began pecking on each other as soon as they hatched!!----Sounds familiar??----Also--didn't know that the CHICK will leave within 24 hours---never to return to the nest!!---NATURE!!---I can't seem to LEARN enough about the birds & our POLAR BEARS that is scary!!---
HELEN---Help!!---I think the pandas are mixed up!!---That has to be the 'LITTLE PRINCE' inside sleeping over the door with feet up in the air---& scratching himself with his foot?????
I thought #2's behind was dirty!!-----TAI used to have a 'whiter' behind that MEI!! ho!---Need to tie a yellow ribbon around his neck!!---He would have it off--1 sec. flat!!!---LITTLE IMP!!!
Well, drat! Every time I go to the Scottish site she is just sitting down and I only get a glimpse. That's what I get for not just sitting here and watching for a longer period of time.
MOMMA STORK is admiring her 3 little ones!!----They are adorable looking up at MOMMA with her 'long beak'---Amazing how she is so careful with them!!!---Won't be long until they will be walking!!---LOVE 'EM!
When you can't see the yellow feet or the beak of our eaglets and they are wet - they blend right in with the nest. A couple times I thought we lost one!
I hope that both eggs hatch. I can't remember correctly about last year! Someone tell me if one egg got water logged but did one hatch? I don't know if I was watching a video or the live feed when I saw a little one....
Happy Sunday Everyone!! even tho a bit wet. Jo--Love your Loonie names! There's too much to watch & too much to do around the house==getting guests in a couple weeks==will have to shovel!! LOL I'm real upset about our neighbor--he is a veternarian and his cat has been up a tree for 2 days. He has called everyone including Fire Dept, Animal Rescue & no one will help.Need someone w/cherrypicker I guess.
Thank you Jo that is truly sweet Lady Loon and Loonies....lol
Norma I am trying to stay away from the Bluebird box. There is a Blue Jay that started yesterday worrying the Mom and Dad to death. I use a towel and wave it if he is near the box. Off the Blue Jay goes for awhile. I am trying to think of a name for Mom and Dad Eastern Bluebird. ( :
Feeding 2 chicks at CT....sorry Norma you can't get that site.
A 1st FOR ME!!!----MOMMA LOON on nest--moving sticks---DAD appeared & after a min. she took off & DAD sat on the "2 BEAUTIFUL EGGS"!!---AWESOME TO WATCH!!---large eggs!!
Whew, it's already 84°, and it still has a lot of sunny day to build the temperature.
I just went out to water what's left of my flowering plants, and it IS HOT, but the sun feels good on my skin after all the spooky overcast type of weather we've had this year.
I guess the plants are OK after all, they're just not blooming to the max in this hot weather. Gave them plenty of water with a little "Miracle Grow," so they'll probably be growing like weeds again soon.
Guess I'll see if I can find something to do around here that's not too sweaty. Talk to you later.
I had to drop off something at the zoo for one of my panda keepers, and she told me about this story.
Pandas missing after quake
BEIJING: Three giant pandas raised at the Wolong Nature Reserve, about 30 km from the epicentre of Monday’s earthquake in China, are missing, the State Forestry Administration confirmed on Sunday.
The earthquake killed five staff members in the reserve and left all the panda houses severely damaged, the latest report from the China Wolong Giant Panda Protection and Research Centre said.
Of the total 32 panda houses, 14 were destroyed and the others were severely damaged. “The first batch of bamboo, apples, and medicine for the pandas, as well as food and the tents urgently needed by the staff arrived at the Wolong Reserve on Saturday night,” said spokesman Cao Qingyao. — Xinhua :(
WHoo HOo WHO? I took a panda nap while you went over to the zoo Helen and while you were going home T-Bird. Sharon are you finished working yet? The sun did come out here and I thought earlier that I saw mixed in with the downpour some very small hail stones.
Megan told Dana when she saw her at market that her computer was down. I was beginning to think she had washed away with all this past rain! Happy to know she didn't!
05/18/08: Based on video we saw yesterday, it appears Intrepid is branching but not flying just yet. We'll update the web log on Monday with clips and news.
Prayers for you Jo!!! I am doing just great, prayers do help! I am really feeling great this afternoon. My eye has finally lost that "funny" feeling, sorta like something was in my eye. Duh! Someone had been in my eye! LOL
And, if you could see my eye, you would only be slightly horrified. I may look normal soon. :)
I went out and worked in the yard. Did not get tired, did not get hot and sweaty. Just sat and worked in the shade. Did very well, thank you. That was what I needed to do!
Good evening everyone. Prayers for you tomorrow Jo. Can anyone tell me why I cannot get the loon cam this year. Helen thought that maybe it was because it was busy, but I have tried many times and get a black picture all the time. Thanks.
Would everyone on here right now Send me an email to just "test" that my hotmail is receiving messages. I know that Hedgesville's message came through & that Sharon's did. Don't know why I can't get Helen's
Great report on 60 Minutes just now about some birds in the Indonesian rainforest....talk about strange vocals!!! Will have to rewind TiVo to get the species name....feeble mind can't listen as well as I used to when doing two things at once! LOL!!!
Thanks Jo I enjoyed that very much. We go to a place near Frederickburg Va called "Lake of the Woods". They have loons there but I have never seen any chicks. Can't wait to see the loonies of Louie and Lana. ( :
DANA, the asian-small clawed otters at the zoo are the smallest of the 13 otter species, everyone is amazed when they see them, most people are used to the river otters
it seems I am having trouble with hot mail and msn addresses....both keep bouncing back to me....sent the card thru AG, Jo so that would work...must be my computer's e-mail comcast and outlook express
Makes me wonder if I'm watching the same cam. Mine shows the steel squares up high over a river and the osprey nest is in about the middle of the steel squares. Is that what you see Mits?
Candy's son has moved back into the area & there is a wedding being planned. Not sure of his wedding date but I am sure the mother of the groom is quite busy!
Thank you gal! Hope your day went well especially after the sun decided to come on out! Are you going to be able to ask Greg tomorrow if the chick placed into the new nest is doing ok?
Talked to Park last week & tempo chick in osprey nest had to go back home-wasn't working out. I think they are probably too small and delicate yet to move, esp. to one parent. So we'll see.
Well, another long day...church with Mom and then she took me out to Brunch. Granddaughter came to visit along with boyfriend. The Capt finally came home. No turkey and no fish....so we had spaghetti. FIRST PRAYER TONIGHT WILL BE FOR JO, SECOND WILL BE THANKS FOR LOLLY'S SUCCESSFUL SURGERY AND THEN ALL THE REST OF US WHO NEED PRAYER FOR ONE THING OR ANOTHER...AMEN
Good morning, world. Monday rolled around again. Guess that's a good thing considering the alternative. Well congrats to Isla and Angus! Their first baby hatched yesterday. How very cool. Proud mom is on the baby and chicks as we speak, they're zoomed in on her. Her mouth is steady going, so she's talking to baby. Can't hardly see our kids through the web, it gets bigger every day. And both Intrepid and Destiny are in the BWE nest for the night. All have a great day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly.
18 May 2008: First chick has hatched! Cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep. Apologies for our obvious egg-centricity but we have all become egg-stremely egg-cited; egg-static you could even say, for we have a very, very special announcement! We are proud to announce that at 4.15 am we received our very first chick of the season… and not only the first chick this year for our pair… but our female’s fifty-first! Well done, old girl! It is such a great thing to witness and we feel very privileged to have seen it.
Oh, zooming in and can see the broken egg shell. How very cool. They sure can zoom in to about an inch from her it looks like. Just wow. They'res the shell pieces and lots of downy feathers, don't know what they are from.
Awww, Angus arrived with food and there is the little baby. Oh so cute! Wow, huge fish. he ate the head and gave the fish to Isla, who is feeding the baby. Angus took off again. Oh precious. They sure are beautiful birds! Wish they'd zoom in closer to see the baby. On second thought, no I don't.
Ok, zoomed in on baby. Adorable. Nice of them to wait until there was mostly just fish meat left. Little head is wobbly, and appears to be squawking for more food. Mom's eating now. Cheep cheep, ya can just hear him.
Oh too funny. Isla used her foot to try to roll the baby. She knocked him down so she could get over him. How cute was that. Didn't turn the eggs tho, and she has most of the fish in the nest for later snacking.

Parent in the nest. Can't tell if they brought food!
Sorry been busy trying to catch my Osprey papers up.
It is sunshining and 71 degrees here now..I'm sure our eaglets are enjoying it ( :
Hello all-back in Bedford were it is very windy, dark and rainy. Hope it's not rough for the eaglets.
glad you are back safe and sound Thelma:)
Well, fancy meeting you here, T-Bird! :)
We had a little bit of hail here a while ago!
yeah imagine meeting you here-the birds are singing and it's starting to clear up
I had to drop off something at the zoo for one of my panda keepers, and she told me about this story.
— Xinhua
:(
its muggy here....
thanks mits-can't wait till our party
woo-hoo, as Jo would say:)
Mema Jo, the way things are going, I am never going to be finished with work! :(
The report from DC zoo staff sounds serious & more realistic from Wolong - I had thought the quake didn't do much harm - but it surely did.
Our nest keeps looking like just a
flat and out platform - no sides whatsoever to speak of!
BWO still claiming the nest!
Sharon Until you just say I QUIT, it will go on and on and on!!
Oops! just remembered -
CT tomorrow
Get those prayers going up to the Big Guy!
yes, Jo, she found it on Yahoo news and it is coming out of Beijing, so it must be reliable..PRAYERS BIG TIME FOR YOU JO
Thank you much!
Jo got you in prayer for tomorrow lady.
Thelma will be good to see you and Sharon again. Oh Boy it will be fun...
I named the loon like Jo said Lady Loon and chicks will be the Loonies and Dad I've named Louie ( : lol. So it's Lady Loon, Louie and the Loonies lol
Mema Jo, of course our prayers are going up for you! Love you!
Scotland is fading into the night. Parent has chick all covered nicely...nite nite little chick. Maybe tomorrow you will have a sibling.
LISA'S UPDATE FROM BWE
Nest Update

Looks like osprey at BW has a fish to eat.
prayers will be with you tomorrow Mema Jo
Prayers for you Jo!!! I am doing just great, prayers do help! I am really feeling great this afternoon. My eye has finally lost that "funny" feeling, sorta like something was in my eye. Duh! Someone had been in my eye! LOL
And, if you could see my eye, you would only be slightly horrified. I may look normal soon. :)
I went out and worked in the yard. Did not get tired, did not get hot and sweaty. Just sat and worked in the shade. Did very well, thank you. That was what I needed to do!
good for you Lolly...take it easy though
The OK eaglets are sitting on the edge of their nest. Looks like they are ready to take off!
LOON - They say the feathers markings are the same but that the MALE loon is larger then the FEMALE.
You've gotta hear this loon
Click on "listen to songs of this
species"
Hey Jo, when you come back on, what is wrong with your e-mail???? I have tried 5 times to send you one and it has comeback 5 times as undeliverable
I'll go check it out.
Try one more time. I had 3 incoming emails waiting for me. But none were yours. Send it to Sharon & Me and see if she gets it & I don't.
ok Jo done...
bounced back again, Jo....saw you were doing your spy-bot this a.m., thought maybe you put me in your spam mail:)
Email is ok now!
Can you imagine hearing the loons in person?? How beautiful in a mournful kind of way! Thanks for sharing, Jo!
You know what I got Sharon's reply and not your message...so I do have a problem. I just sent you another message....
Good evening everyone. Prayers for you tomorrow Jo. Can anyone tell me why I cannot get the loon cam this year. Helen thought that maybe it was because it was busy, but I have tried many times and get a black picture all the time. Thanks.
The loon is a beautiful sound but sure as heck would make me crawl down in the sleeping bag!!!! I am glad I now know what it sounds like!
CONGRATULATIONS TO HEDGESVILLER
Lynn is now an official Momster and will be joining us at the Nest Visit and dinner on June 7th!!!!
Well Ceil, do you think you are just not "loonie" enough for that cam!! lol ((hugs))
I have no idea --there are times that I need to wait what seems forever for it to open up.
Try the link-I just got it up
Hoping to be there on the 7th. Will let you know in a few days.
Wow what a suprise today, the sunshine and warm temps after that chilly rain this morning...
Great! I know you will enjoy the day! Will wait to hear from you.
Would everyone on here right now
Send me an email to just "test"
that my hotmail is receiving messages. I know that Hedgesville's message came through & that Sharon's did. Don't know why I can't get Helen's
Did CT lose their yellow stuff? Haven't seen it since this morning
It didn't work Jo. That's okay I get to see the rest of the cams and some people have problems. Ask Helen I am looney enough. LOL
Well, I have another balding female cardinal out here again this year!! Wonder what is up with that?
Well, Ceil, welcome to our looney world!
When were those logs brought into our nest?
Except I cannot see the loon. I saw Isla (sp) chick today. Suzanne will be happy. Paula the last time I saw the yellow tape it was almost under mom.
Just saw the yellow stuff at CT
With all the rain they decided to build a roof. Too late to build sides.
Thanks Ceil Got your message ok.
Don't know why I can't get Helen's
THE SUN IS SHINING IN BLUEFIELD!!
I'll bet it is that right wing conspiracy against Helen! :)
Sun is shining in Baltimore. We had hail about 2 hours ago. Stopped the Oriole game. They lost, but can't win them all.
Sharon Those logs may just have fallen from the side.. Our nest is deteriorating fast.
Paula - it is a beautiful evening down here in the valley!
i'm logging off for now-hope you all make a fine evening
Hope it holds up a few more weeks Jo.
Adult in our nest
I'm going to log off for a while to Thelma. All have a good evening.
Great report on 60 Minutes just now about some birds in the Indonesian rainforest....talk about strange vocals!!! Will have to rewind TiVo to get the species name....feeble mind can't listen as well as I used to when doing two things at once! LOL!!!
It is amazing how the nest can be so fluffy when there are eggs and little babies, then the floor turns into looking like a dirt floor!
Didn't stay long with the kids...
Thelma & Ceil enjoy your evening.
Have a good week ahead Thelma if you don't get back on here tomorrow!!
I watched 60 mins too, Lynn...I was waiting for the Bon Jovi part....yes, Ceil is a loony bird...:)
did it again Jo

DANA, the asian-small clawed otters at the zoo are the smallest of the 13 otter species, everyone is amazed when they see them, most people are used to the river otters

dawn in Finland
Beautiful pink sky Mits ty for heads up.
eggs in view at Finland water cam
little ferry going by in Finland
I have been watching the osprey in the nest but haven't seen eggs Mits. I must have missed something.
maybe just a little boat...
she was just off the eggs a minute ago, Dana
can't get on to the other Finland osprey nest, wants me to check and see if it is a phising website....I don't know if it is
Makes me wonder if I'm watching the same cam. Mine shows the steel squares up high over a river and the osprey nest is in about the middle of the steel squares.
Is that what you see Mits?
yep, Dana, the one over the water, she is on at least 2 eggs
They are showing a (spelling)Harpie Eagle wing span of 6 ft. It had a monkey in its talcons.
Advise me: I know Deb left to go to the school's graduation one day. Have I just missed her being back on here or is she AWOL?
that was yesterday and it was only an hour away....so she is AWOL.....GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE....
I don't know Jo but I have been wondering where Candy is??? Do you know?

Good Night Mits! I'll miss not getting your email!

Glad it is good news about Candy...not bad
Seems like Finland on the water. Doesn't change alot.
Just Back.
Hope you're still on, Jo. Understand there's medical appt. 4 U tomorrow. Prayers and best wishes. Take care.
Thank you gal! Hope your day went
well especially after the sun decided to come on out!
Are you going to be able to ask Greg tomorrow if the chick placed into the new nest is doing ok?
Hi Nature
Ok ladies I'm off. Going to finish watching "Evan Almighty".
Appts in morning see you later in the day tomorrow.
Good night Dana
I am not far behind you
Talked to Park last week & tempo chick in osprey nest had to go back home-wasn't working out. I think they are probably too small and delicate yet to move, esp. to one parent. So we'll see.
Isla is checking under her.
Off for awhile--BBL
Good night to all who are leaving &
pleasant feather dreams!
As she is rolling the eggs under her I can see the chick flopping around!
Isla has decided it is time to sleep.
Sounds like a good idea since I think I even missed the Finny Ferry tonight
Good Night
Pleasant dreams & peaceful sleep
Prayers for all needs being said
Good Morning Early Birders
Well, another long day...church with Mom and then she took me out to Brunch. Granddaughter came to visit along with boyfriend.
The Capt finally came home. No turkey and no fish....so we had spaghetti.
FIRST PRAYER TONIGHT WILL BE FOR JO, SECOND WILL BE THANKS FOR LOLLY'S SUCCESSFUL SURGERY AND THEN ALL THE REST OF US WHO NEED PRAYER FOR ONE THING OR ANOTHER...AMEN
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP TIGHT
LOL Wanda. Gene should have stayed home and tailed Lib all week!
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYONE...

Latest update from Scotland:
Well, Finney's nest has a new URL, and try as I might, I can't connect to it. That is a total bummer, really love that nest and cam. Darn!
Snack time for mom and baby in Scotland. And baby isn't missing a bite mom is taking! too cute. Alright, zooming in on baby.
