Hi, you two. Hope you enjoyed your cook-0ut Paula. I miss the Capt. being gone because I love Grilled food and don't know how to do it.LOL I'd like him to bring some fish home like Belle & Lib bring to their youngsters. Ummmm!
Hi Gang, Hope this works--new pic! Big Blue Birds flew over my head. They were so fast, only got 2 pics. As I digress a bit from nature...if any of you are subject to TV car racing ALL THE TIME,Dale Jarrett is in his last race & they had him "drive the truck"!!One UPS lap before the All Star race at 9PM.
Forgot to Thank You, Steve, for new thread. You poor thing---have to work on weekends too!
Been watching different cams today & last one was the little, hyper, kiwi! He had been eating some of his mulch and wasn't correct weight, so they removed it for awhile & he's eating his reg. meals & gaining. If you ever feel listless, just watch him for a minute to get perky!! I'll be up 'til wee hours! :>)
I love your up up & away pic, NN. They are spectacular in flight!
Question: I guess not everyone is a Momster and received the email about our upcoming Nest visit! Guess I had best post on here - I totally wasn't thinking.
Glad to see you are home safe & sound from CT - Hope you were on a family venture!
Little rain here in the valley - gets real windy then really still. Not sure what the wee hrs of the am will bring.
Going to say Good Night to everyone - Sandman has been here!
Mark your calendar & Plan for a Sycamore Nest Visit!
It's that time of the Eagle Season 2008 to plan our visit to the nest at NCTC, Shepherdstown,WV Our 3 eaglets are getting very near their fledging time! The oldest was 9 weeks old yesterday. Eleven to thirteen weeks is the normal time for their first flight to occur! With that in mind Saturday JUNE 7th
NCTC will be open that weekend due to classes being held on campus. Closer to that date I will contact them with the list of names of those planning to enter the gates. I will also be able to find out if the cafeteria or the gift shop is going to be open. A call to Rumsey Tavern located at the Clarion Hotel in Shepherdstown for dinner accomodations on Saturday around 5:00 pm will be made. This is where all our previous gatherings have been held and everyone seems to be very pleased with their menu.
I need 2 lists: #1) Access to NCTC #2) Dinner reservations at Rumsey.
If you are not able to attend on this date, please remember that any day you would want to come to the nest that I and many other locals would join you!!!
I think George Jones is cool. Was watching Scottish Osprey & she is VERY wiggly. Some little bobble is gonna pop out soon! Saw the Finn site too & so foggy we won't be abee to see the ferry!
Hi Lolly---you can see the screen!! Yes, I think that is the osprey they say is named Isla in Scotland that has laid 50 eggs! There's a 2nd Finland nest -real big-and not on the water. I wish I could sit here til she gets up, but want to catch a little TV.
Yes, I love that nest that is so huge. I was telling Jack about that nest. The BWO osprey put a few twigs on that man built stand and then look at that Finland nest. Unbelievable!
I am calling it a night. My eyes are tired. Yes, I am seeing better. My eye is not dialated so much now and that helps.
Woke up & saw Scotland baby osprey #50 and 4th stork egg hatched & Mom was feeding chicks and removing eggshell! It must be Easter! Good night again---
Loretta, I just watched Wonder Woman (Isla) feed her one chick. He was lying on his back (couldn't get turned over) and Mom was trying to feed him in that position.....little one only wanted one thing and that was to get back up on his feet. Mom moved into the nest and covered him (feet first) and the two remaining eggs. Isla is getting a little too old to be raising another family. She must be 90 in bird years. LOL
Another rainy morning here in PA for me, hope it is sunny and warm wherever you all are. I haven't been reading the blog lately but hope everyone is well. Our babies are big kids now aren't they? Last week I had a stellar birding day at Crane Creek state park located in NW Ohio near Toledo. I got several new birds to add to my list. All in all I saw 53 varieties, many of them warblers. This state park is on the shores of Lake Erie and is a stopping place for migrating northern birds. It was a very long day for 3 old ladies and next year we will make it an overnighter.

Good morning all. Slept until 9:20 this morning. Don't know when that happened last. Partied with George Jones last night! :)
I looked out my window this morning and saw blooms on a tree that has been there all my life. Don't recall ever seeing that before so I looked it up. It is a tulip poplar. Never knew one existed. BEAUTIFUL!
18 May 2008: First chick has hatched! Cheep cheep cheep cheep cheep. Apologies for our obvious egg-centricity but we have all become egg-stremely egg-cited; egg-static you could even say, for we have a very, very special announcement! We are proud to announce that at 4.15 am we received our very first chick of the season… and not only the first chick this year for our pair… but our female’s fifty-first! Well done, old girl! It is such a great thing to witness and we feel very privileged to have seen it.
Norma, Tori was released from the hospital yesterday, Robyn was taking her to the Eastern Shore for the day if she was up to it, they were hoping to go to BW
