No, Normabyrd. No white water rafting for me. Have a huge fear of the water, feel pretty safe in a pontoon boat but not a canoe or kayak. Have to work today but just now trying to get started. Been lazy this morning.
It;s not hard Norma pet with the time difference pet,,,,, When I get up,, your all still in bed,
The thing is I can't look in on most of the birds as they are in bed to and it's so, so dark.
I do look in on Europes birds,, and its wondeful thins year to see Stork babies well and healthy for once at Storchennest in Germany,, let hope they stay well this time round,,NO MORE FUNGUS !!!
WHOA--WHOA!!---No PERGRINE FALCONS or CHICKS at the PA SITE!!---They must be on the other end of the ledge---no cam turned on yet???---ANYONE KNOW??????
I've got a parent sitting on the end of the sitting pole Norma,,, no sign of the chicks,, but it's rather a long large ledge and they might of gone for a walk..
Isla doing some housekeeping and the chick is getting quite big now,,beautiful close up on the pair of them,,,,,
STILL 2 eggs just lying there,, I havn't seen isla or Angus turn them now in days,,, so I'm thinking that they both must know they are DUDS,,,,,WELL, one healthy chick is better than nothing,,isn't it,,,,, Blimey :::: Isla has just called me a lyer,, she has just turned the 2 eggs,,, typical,, don't kids and animals always call you that.
Osprey Chick being fed at Loch Garten now,, its so tiny,,,problem is,, it seems OVS [daddy] has 2 nests to look after,, so "EJ" has been having to go and fish for food herself at times,, which I think is rather dangerous,, leaving the little one for long periods of time,,,,,
STILL no sign of PA chicks,, parent still sitting on the pole looking at the nest box,,,
AND My beautiful darling Mei is lying out in the sunshine getting an early morning nap,,oh Bless that angel....
There seems to be a shortage of MALES at Loch Garten,, and I read this morning that OVS [orange banded Osprey] is comutting between 2 nests,,,, and the wardens think he is splitting himself between 2 Ladies,,, I may have read it all wrong,, it was very early when I read it and i'd only had one cup of tea,,[not properly awake]
If you go onto the site and click on the right hand side " FOR YOUR INFIRMATION", you can see names like " HENRY " who they thought was "EJ'S", mate. and so on,,read from there pet.
Grabbing a Gatorade- Hi Sharon and Dana:) Bluebirds come out of the birdhouse yet Dana? Its 70° here now and there's a little breeze, although it is really blowing around the pollen, it feels nice and cool. Back out to water...have a nice day everyone!
Chrissy, the cam site you sent us the other day......I could not get to it. Could you send it again and we will give it a try?!!! Thanks you!! :)
Not a good morning here. Think I caught something from Chrissy. Coughed all night! Then my favorite coffee mug broke in the dish washer. Boo Hoo!!
Hurriedly went to PA site. Still no babies in view.
Going to daughter's today. Son and family will be there as well. Going to grill hamburgers and have a great day! Just wish we were not having such hot weather!!
Wish all of you a great day with family.....or a great day doing what you want to do!! :)
Good morning Paula. Did you get to that cam Chrissy sent the other day? When I went to it I got a message something that the page I requested was not available.
Good Morning! Lots of wing flapping going on and it seems like all 3 are going at once! Scary!!! Sure wish I were down below seeing all this jumping going on!
The last time I saw the Falconettes, was either the day they were banded or the day after. A good part of the afternoon, Mom & Dad Falcon seemed to fighting off an intruder. I couldn't see it, but they kept screaming and flying after something. Maybe the intruder was successful.
MORNIN' DANA!!---Check the PA SITE-----1 PARENT is out on the pole---but CHRISSY & I have not been able to see any CHICKS or the other parent!!!----What do you think??
Jo one of us would be heading for the nest if that happened. Next problem to solve is: After we get eaglet in bag. Who do we call??????? Or to get it in bag Who do we CALL???
MORNIN' PAULA--LOLLY & JO!---Been on phone---trying to understand what granddaughter was saying!!---MARLEY has a tendency to SCREAM when she talks!!-----now I am deaf!!!
Read the Loch Garden blog...don't see where they mentioned what Chrissy said, about OVS maintaining 2 nests...maybe she can tell us exactly where it is.
Dana - it looked like it was loading earlier..but I went off and read the blogs...so I'm not sure...I think they have a limit on the number of viewers...this is a very popular nest in the UK...so I imagine it is really loaded with viewers and hard to get on...
Oh I got screaming going on at Seal Rock. Parent just brought a fish in. LOL eaglet says feed me Mom I don't have anyone to fight over about this fish. hee hee
Hi, Jo, Paula, Sharon, Norma, Wanda, Lolly, Nature, Megan, Dana and Chrissy was here before. I was on earlier and I am in and out. Trying to get ready for barbecue at neighbors. Hope all have a good holiday. Been looking for the chicks in PA. Hope they are okay. News not good on the NBG chick. Prayers for the little one. Love when our chicks flap together and hit each other they look so surprised. I better get going.
Hi Dana, Got baby bluebirds fledging yet? You need your own Cam! LOL
Re: Mem. Day--Blessings to all who serve. One of my uncles is a Pearl Harbor Survivor and another worked with Gen. Chenault in Flying Tigers. They're both around. Heard a lot about WW II growing up.
Ok, I give up. Have tried everything to get to Loch Garten Cam. When I click on the link you gave ua, Paula, nothing happens. Googled it, and still can not get in. Something is blocking me.
Did read about the soapopera they have going there. Very interesting!
MORNIN' DEB!!---Can't remember if I have seen you today!!---Lots of calls this am----It is 80° here now!!---It hasn't gotten humid here yet---expecting it any time!!
I can see an adult now and in the shaded part of the nest box it looks like white fluffy feathers! I think they are ok. Their live feed needs the entire ledge view now. Hope they change it.
Hey Jo- I have just discovered that the weekend of the 6th has already been booked for me- not sure I will be able to make it to NCTC or the Rumsey:(((((
Sounds like I am the only one that is wishing for a little warmer weather. It is only going to be 67 here today and 50's tomorrow, with lows in the 40's.
DEB---I just noticed that!---But they weren't there earlier------I hope they are there!!---That site never updates any info!!---My only thought was that they may be on the other end of the ledge!!!
CHRISSY & I NOTICED at about 9:00 am their WAS 1 adult & NO CHICKS!!-----That appears to be the same ADULT----& there may be CHICKS huddled in a group!!----Hope they are on the end of the ledge!!
WANDA---You look just BEAUTIFUL!!! Black is very becoming on you!!! You certainly had a good turn out--as they say here in WV!!---Thank you for sharing!!!
I'm not sure if Lolly left for her picnic or not, the dip uses Rotel tomatoes. I think you get them in the Mexican food section. I don't remember what else, but I think it is Velvetta Cheese.
just popping in before my yearly live program of " SPRINGWATCH", starts..
Paula are you still having problems with "LOCH GATREN" pet
I have E-Mails Lolly with all that I know, and how to get the "LIVE FEED"..
I did leave some info first thing this morning on the other page,, but if you get the page up,, go to the top blue boarder where all the commands are and click on "BIRDS & WILDLIFE". Scroll down and click on "BIRDS OF PREY",, then click on the Lock Garten live vidio and your there.
Isla's little chicklet is moving quite well now,, getting good and strong, Bless him/her. Only for a second or two though,,Isla soon sits down and under he goes again..
When you get the live feed up at Loch Garten,, on the right hand aide of the page, go to where it says "BLOG", 4th down is " FOR YOUR INFORMATION",, click on that,, in the same place under " TAGS",, you will see names of the birds,EJ,,HENRY,,Loch Garten,,and so on,,,thats where the info is pet.
As I said this morning,, it was very early whwn I looked and I was half asleep so I'm really not sure what I read,, but I don't think I was far out pet.
PAULA----THANKS--GREAT SITE---BIRDS AROUND THE WORLD----They had the same discussion CHRISSY & I had today---WHERE ARE THE FALCONS AT PA----ALSO guessed they were at the other end of ledge---which was not shown---SEEMED THEY WERE CONCERNED TOO!!!
FINALLY---One can see the ATLANTA BEAUTY--"MEI" asleep on the floor in her play room!!---SHE IS A LITTLE DOLL!!---Just don't get to see her that often!!
Wingercises going on in the nest. It isn't Pearl is one of the other two! lol Pearl is busy try to get some more food that she probably hid.
I feel certain that Pearl is female due to her size. Little Middy sitting there watching her is probably a male. Not sure about Tiny yet.... These are just uneducated guesses!!!
Adult with food in our nest! Adult is feeding or at least pulling off and holding while eaglets just yank it out of parent's mouth.... Parent looking at offspring as though in disbelief of their eating habits!!
A line of showers and thunderstorms will continue east...into the Interstate 81 corridor of the Shenandoah Valley through the early evening hours. Scattered thunderstorms along this line...from near Staunton to Winchester...with more isolated thunderstorms developing across north central Maryland...will have brief heavy rainfall...gusty winds...small hail and cloud to ground lightning. A tenth to a quarter of an inch is expected across much of this area...with locally higher amounts as the line moves east near 30 mph.
HELLO, HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY:) Still having some issues with this computer...daugter in law has made some adjustments..it is running somewhat faster, but my COMCAST E-MAIL WILL LET ME READ, BUT NOT RESPOND OR COMPOSE MY E-MAILS...I don't have time to deal with it at this time. Have not tried any cams, and am not caught up on the blog at all. I t was a WONDERFUL WEEKEND with my family and I miss those girls already. Hope everyone is well.
Hello Helen:) Glad you had a great visit with the M&M girls and their parents. Hi Sharon, I saw your note about tulip poplars, I love them too. Light rain here now. My live feed appears frozen.
I got a new grill last year (end of season sale) and decided today was the day to put it together. I should have started earlier. It is almost done, but now I am too tired for the wiring parts. I will finish it up tomorrow.
Off he goes. The kids are all lined up looking out the back of the nest.
If you can get a picture of the tree, try to get one that shows where the camera is and where the eaglets will branch to on the 7th. It is probably different than I have pictured it in my head.
Ok, thanks, Paula. I know you can't get too close, so it might not work. I will be at the hospital picnic while you are all meeting. At least, I won't be sitting around wishing I was in WV!
Deb, how on earth to you keep track of all the nests and sites and time and dates? We sure do appreciate the time and effort that you put into this blog. Glad you joined us!
Wanda, I look for the answers to the questions I have, I don't have them all memorized! Then I figure if I wonder what the answer to the question is, maybe someone else does, too, so I share.
Deb I didn't record any dates of hatching for the Herons. I just remember your sending pics around with the one egg having a crack -I think! They look large enough to take off out of that nest. I may look on one of the other forums to see if anything was recorded & I'll let you know....
I went back to my videos and on April 8th there were two heronettes and two eggs. So they will be there a little while longer. Fledging should start around June 5-10th.
I have been trying to keep Suz updated on some of sites that I know she loves and I think others do too...so she is probably inundated with email. I think she is glad to hear from us even if we do duplicate info.
Happy Birthday Ceil! drizzling here this am, warm tho- 68°, which is what we need to make the plants grow. Lots of wing exercising going on in the nest- hard to see around that dang spiderweb.

If they don't slow down a bit one of them is going to go right over the edge of that nest! Someone might have to take a quick trip to NCTC

I know Lolly, they are making me nervous! Looked like one was gonna whack the other out of the nest! One at a time, guys and gals!
Good idea Wanda! I just wish the guard rails hadn't fallen off the nest.

Such a flurry of wings, but I see eaglet took it to the back of the nest and mantled, then drug it up front! Yup, it was a fish!

Ty Paula
Jo it is scary how the nest has lost so much around the sides.
PLaula have you ever gotten the live streaming feed on the Loch Garden site?
Jo one of us would be heading for the nest if that happened. Next problem to solve is: After we get eaglet in bag. Who do we call??????? Or to get it in bag Who do we CALL???
I guess I would be trying to find the guard on duty or at the gate house.

WAS THAT SWEET OR WHAT? The two eaglets were beaking!
NORMA can you hear me now lol
Dana - it looked like it was loading earlier..but I went off and read the blogs...so I'm not sure...I think they have a limit on the number of viewers...this is a very popular nest in the UK...so I imagine it is really loaded with viewers and hard to get on...

Lolly - What is rotel dip???
I'm not sure if Lolly left for her picnic or not, the dip uses Rotel tomatoes. I think you get them in the Mexican food section. I don't remember what else, but I think it is Velvetta Cheese.
Sometimes they add meat to the dip, also.
OK, sounds like Dogfood dip! Yum :):)
Thanks, Deb!

Bird Cams around the World
They have an update on the PH chicks with pictures.
PH Thread
I think they talk alot about the Harrisburg falcons there!
Good night, Chrissy. Thanks for your reports from the 'wee hours' ... here at least.

Jim
I looked up 'rotel', Paula, and I got stuff like 'diesel lubricant.' So I tried 'rotelle' and I at least got a food...a small, wheel-shaped pasta.'

JIM!---GOGGLE IT!---ROTEL DIP!
LATER....
LOL Jim.
I hope Lolly isn't serving that!!
Heading out...BBL
Need to check out what's for dinner since no picnic in sight today!
BBL
I'm back for a minute.....
Adult with food in our nest!
Adult is feeding or at least pulling off and holding while eaglets just yank it out of parent's mouth....
Parent looking at offspring as though in disbelief of their eating habits!!
Parent gave up & is gone.
Thanks Megan. Our preaching meteorologist is on vacation! :)
Megan, did you see where I posted about the tulip poplar tree? They are beautiful!
Hope everyone is well.
weather here has been great, although today was rather breezy....have seen my beloved dolphins, and a heron fly by....
Hello Helen:) Glad you had a great visit with the M&M girls and their parents. Hi Sharon, I saw your note about tulip poplars, I love them too. Light rain here now. My live feed appears frozen.
Refreshed and rp is running again. chicks are snacking on leftovers. bbl- back to work- preparing for mkt tomorrow.
My RP went down and back on now
Had a nice picnic at in-laws...burgers, dogs, potato salad etc. Good ol' American food!
Couple of sprinkles here too. I'll take the 1/10 to 1/4 inch of rain...better than the 2-3 we seemed to be getting!
Lib just dropped in with a bedtime snack!!
And it's not cereal!
I got a new grill last year (end of season sale) and decided today was the day to put it together. I should have started earlier. It is almost done, but now I am too tired for the wiring parts. I will finish it up tomorrow.
Lib also drug out a nestover and was feeding that
Off he goes. The kids are all lined up looking out the back of the nest.
If you can get a picture of the tree, try to get one that shows where the camera is and where the eaglets will branch to on the 7th. It is probably different than I have pictured it in my head.
Will do, Deb. Last batch just fledged...don't think they ever branched really...
Ok, thanks, Paula. I know you can't get too close, so it might not work. I will be at the hospital picnic while you are all meeting. At least, I won't be sitting around wishing I was in WV!
I found this note on the IWS forum from Peter:
NOTICE: We are planning to band the Seal Rocks chick tomorrow morning and the Two Harbors chick tomorrow afternoon.
Hi, Deb & Paula...was wondering if anyone saw more than one chick at Pa Falcon site?
Oh, I hope Dana knows that...she watches Seal Rock often.
The falcon cam that you get from the Colorado eagle nest site has chicks. (The falcon nest is in Minnesota)
I didn't watch this afternoon, so I don't know about the falcon chicks at PA. I sent Dana an e-mail about the banding, just hope she checks her mail.
I enjoyed your reunion pictures, Wanda.
Thanks for posting that schedule, Deb.It is totally different since it was first announced.
BWE nest has the Eagle Spirits surrounding it.
Of course the NCTC nest has good ole' Spidey guarding our eaglets!!
It must have rained at the Delta nest, parent is drenched and covering the chicks.
Glad you enjoyed my Reunion photos. I love to share my good times with you all.
Deb, how on earth to you keep track of all the nests and sites and time and dates? We sure do appreciate the time and effort that you put into this blog. Glad you joined us!
Nice pics, Wanda. Also like the Utah ones. Sure was a lot of snow!
Heronetts have grown BIG
I can partially see Peek & Boo
behind their tree trunk.
Blue Bird has 5 eggs. I wonder if Dana had any fledges from her nest.
Iris' robins should be getting ready
to hop out onto the comfort cushions.
Wasn't that thoughtful of Iris to share her JOY with us? I ROFLBO when she sent the photo of the padded porch. She's so special.
Wanda, I look for the answers to the questions I have, I don't have them all memorized! Then I figure if I wonder what the answer to the question is, maybe someone else does, too, so I share.
I'm going to see if I can catch the 10:20 Ferry...or is that 11:20? Can't stay awake that long tonight.
I look forward to Iris' pictures, too. It is fun to see how fast they change.
Does anyone remember when the heronettes hatched? I don't. They will fledge about 60 days after hatching.
Deb - here is a comment from FTLOE
forum that I had posted about the Herons hatchings.........
Fri Apr 11, 2008 10:49 pm
The nesting heron has 4 eggs which 2 or 3 have now hatched!
Well now That Mystery is solved!
I have been wishing all weekend that out of the blue a comment from
Suzanne would appear here on the blog!!
I have been trying to keep Suz updated on some of sites that I know she loves and I think others do too...so she is probably inundated with email. I think she is glad to hear from us even if we do duplicate info.
I wish she would, too, Jo. I sent her some pictures from this weekend so she can see some of what is happening.
Jo, heronettes wingercise is ready.
I am off to bed early tonight. You can see the rain coming down in Delta, poor wet birds!
Good night, everyone.
Thanks Deb for the clips of Delta and of the Herons....
Good Night Everyone
