Good Morning all great eagle watchers. How is the eaglet they took from the nest yesterday,I did get to watch it.I hope that every one has a great day.
Good Morning, everyone. It is another cool, cloudy day here. Norma, the election is June 3, we have a ways to go yet. I don't have live feed, do you all have it?
Report on Norfolk eaglet: he baby Bald Eagle taken from its nest at the Norfolk Botanical Garden arrived at the Wildlife Center of Virginia in Waynesboro at about 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 22. The bird was assigned a patient number – 08-887 – and given a preliminary physical e Panther: examination by Drs. Dave McRuer and Mark Ruder. The eagle weighed in at one kilogram and was in good body condition. Of concern is a soft tissue mass on the left side of the upper beak. The eagle was given fluids and antibiotics and was fed three mice – which it ate vigorously.
Please can you tell me if you have recieved the recipe I have sent to you,, as I have had a mail back from the " SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR " saying undeliverable mail ?????
This information is coming in in snippits on the NBG chat room... The eaglet is now being housed in a fake nest in a small enclosure. The eaglet will be fed a mixture of cut-up mice and fish two to three times daily.

Mmmmm... PB &J- just had one myself. hello eagle buddies:) beautiful day here, 60° and SUNNY! Jo, put me on the lists for the 7th- have you guys decided on a time to meet at NCTC? DId anyone let Steve know the live feed is down? Gotta run back outside, have a nice day everyone- TGIF:) for those of you who are off this weekend!
Paula your a good judge pet,,,,, No one would ever want to see Frank naked pet,,,, just think of a naked bhudda,, bald,, and wearing glasses,, You would never eat again,,,,
If anyone is thinking of going on a diet for the summer,,,I CAN LOAN FRANK OUT!!!!!!!!
I love him really....
Right ironing calls,, speak later love and hugs Chrissy XXXXXXXX
It's a bit overcast in So Cal, and there are rain and thunderstorms predicted today.
We actually had some locally heavy rain yesterday, which was more moderate here, and which none of the weather sources predicted.
No live feed coming through here, but they all look in good condition on the 30 sec.
I wonder a couple of things... one, why does it still take sooooo loooooong to get lab test results, for humans and animals; and two, are they not going to treat the poor little Norfolk eaglet in all that time??
Chrissy I don't think those Swedish eggs look well. Hope they can keep this chick from harm. I e-mailed Suzanne today and she sounds a little down. Hope she gets her PC at home up and running.
I have been all day on porch. Little bluebirds are popping their heads out. Yet go back in. Mom and Dad have been trying to encourage one to come out. Almost did was out half way but decided not yet.
I just came in and realized although I've been in shade. My nose is "red" eeekkks sunburn.
Got to go so I might see a tumbling baby bluebird come out of nest box.
I bet now Suzanne will have loads of mail to answer,, you have writen and I have,, Lolly to,, So lets hope between us we have cheared her up a little,, I also sent her the San Jose banding vidio too,, just a little thing for her to watch.
The chick I was talking about pet is the one at "The Lock of Lewes", in Scotland,, i can't get the Swedish cam here unfortunately pet.
Isla is the mum and Angus is the dad and I havn't thought of a name for the little one yet,, but he/she really can eat,, never without food there,, rabbits, pigeons and loads of fresh wild salmon,, they get better fed than I do,, i can't afford fresh salmon pet,,
I've also got my beloved pandas on,, they have Tian Tian and gobbo [tai shan] on,, but not seen my darling Mei for days now,, and i'm wondering why ???
Chrissy that is the cam. I got my cams mixed up. Those eggs do not look good and that nest is having problems with an intruder. You are repeating yourself pet. Are the meds kicking in? How did you do at the doctors today? Hope you are doing better.
Chrissy, so glad you emailed Suzanne. I sent her several messages today. Actually copied some from the blog and sent that to her. She knows we are thinking of her! I am sure she is home now and will be off until Tues.
Ceil,, I agree with you pet,, if they havn't hatched by now I doubt they will..
Been back to the Docotors today,, and had blood taken so I have one arm without blood and I'm a little lightheaded too.
OR
I could be the drugs !!!!
I don't care either way pet,,, I just like the feeling,,,, I love flying without paying.....
Lolly I must of done the same thing as you then pet,
I copied the bear story from here and told her all about the chat on here too,, oh dear,, at least she knows we are thinking of her,,and its that, that counts isn't it pet.
The following was from Suz today. LOL We will keep her on the blog!!!
No new hatching at SCOTLAND????? I have a feeling those last 2 eggs are not going to hatch now, it's been too long. The one chick hatched on 18 May, and the eggs were laid closer than a week apart. There would be a very large size difference. She laid her eggs on 11, 13, and 16 April, so the other two may not hatch. That gal is getting old, and the first egg she laid this year was her 50th. That's saying something! Think they said on the site that an osprey will lay an average of 35 eggs in their lifetime, and she laid 52...amazing! That's why I called her Wonder Woman.
Oh, I have just had something weird happen. We have been having trouble with our sound. Checked settings, etc. Still....no luck. Could get sound but it was soft. When you were hearing voices at the PH nest, I heard nothing!
Just went to the stork cam. That is such a noisy cam and I had the volume on the control there way down. Well, guess what?! I raised the volume, exited the cam, and my sound is now restored! Weird!
Well, it was the player you are on when you are at the stork nest. I check and see what it is. I thought the control on it would just be for when that cam is up.????
No pet,, realplayer controls all your sound,,, if you turn it off or down so will all your thing on your computer.
I found that out the hard way to,,, when watch Mei at the Zoo,, i got so upset that I couldnt hear her,, then I had a fiddle,, and low and behold the sound came back cos I turned realplayer back on.
I have returned from my Play Time afternoon. WOW! Sometimes very hard to keep up with 2 - 4 yr olds! But I love being with them! Keeps the old spirits young! No Live Feed :( PIA for sure!
Intruders: We must be taking such good care of our feathered friends that we have an over population and sometimes just not enough to go around - ever think of it that way. This season has had some things going on that I would never in my wildest dreams think of happening. I remember hearing that weird cry at our nest that one evening & being very fearful for our eagles & eaglets........ But Life Goes On!
05/22/08: One of the eaglets apparently bumped our camera out of position, but it's provided us with a view of one of the areas where the eaglets are perching: Lisa has 2 pics...
Well I'm inside....still one bluebird baby keeps popping it's head and part of its body out the hole. So unless they do something now. It will be tomorrow. I guess I'll be porch sitting tomorrow. Hope I get to see one come out of the box. ( : I named Dad "blue" and Mom "daisy".
Evening Everybody!! My Live Cam just came on!!!! Happy Holiday to all who will be leaving---safe travels. I have to work Sat., so just be same ol, same ol around here.
Dr. Weldy just called and they had just finished the 1 1/2 hour surgery on the wing. It has 3 wires wrapped around the bone and three external fixator pins that keep the wing stable. The wing shouldn't need to be wrapped, so it can move it pretty normally. He'll send photos tonight, but everything went well
The blue tagged sub adult that attacked the PH nest didn't have a GPS unit (They are designed to fall off after 2-3 years), so they don't know who the intruder was.
I guess my bedtime is almost here. I think the M&M gals are at OC with parents and grandparents! Hope they learn to love the beach like their gran does! Helen always refers to the word WOW! that Maggie says!
We saw FOUR baby groundhogs at work today! Another gal there said she wanted to kiss one on the nose! My cam was in car. She used her phone to take pics--don't know what she got. That Norfolk baby is adorable up close. Too bad he won't come home. Maybe WVEC will post pics in the future of his growth. Gotta go--early AM wake up Sat. Happy Feather Dreams to all
Hi Sharon, Had been checking cams before 'puter shutdown. Does Deb have another mystery bird? Or are you mentioning that hawk from week or so ago? The hawk was an immature Kriders Red-tail.
By the way, while I was watching the BWE nest earlier, I could see the tail of the older chick where he/she perched toward the upper left-hand corner of the picture.
I will put a picture of the new bird up in a bit. I am watching the eagle in the Delta nest get harassed. What is with these mean birds? She seemed mostly annoyed, not alarmed.
Just got unwound from my class reunion....we were so noisy, we sounded like a bunch of Magpies! Hotel guests were asking us not to run up and down the corridors after our party was over. LOL
Hi Deb, the 2 birds w/bluish heads are Common Grackles. Some have purplish heads, but the bronze phase has the iridescent blue. Lovely, but considered "trash birds", pests like starlings.
Thanks, that is the first time I have seen a grackle colored like that. I have the one farthest from me all the time, never had one with a blue and black head and lighter colored body.
Both eaglets are visible in the BWE nest right now.
Deb, I just looked "Grackle" up in Wikipedia, and from what I can tell, both of the similarly colored birds in your pic are Grackles, but the closer one is probably a female. They said females are a bit smaller and not so "glossy."
From the looks of things, they haven't had their breakfast yet. I'd like to see them tackle a turtle. I have heard you all speak about them playing around with the shell, but have never seen that.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!---WANDA---NATURENUT---DEB---MOVIN'JIM & PAULA!!---GLORIOUS DAY here in WV---"HOME OF BELLE & LIBERTY---PLUS 3"---This SUNSHINE will be with us through the weekend!!!---temp. 55°---will rise to the 70s!!--- when LIVE IS GOOD!!--then LIFE IS GOOD!!---ENJOY! ENJOY!--
HEY WANDA!!---I bet you all had a 'BALL' at your school reunion!!-----Did you notice how you haven't changed at all---BUT WHOA!!---Some of your friends really have!!---ho! My school has a reunion every year in JULY!----FUN!--FUN!
Good morning Norma! Been checking cams. Saw big switch and two eggs visible in Finland, adult on Finney's nest. Does anyone have any idea we have been watching eggs at these two? Checked in on the Delta nest, two being fed.
DEB---This am---I looked at all your photos again!!---I must come to SD!!---Always wanted to see all the pics you have posted!!---MOUNT RUSHMORE to your ring-necked pheasant!!----Anyone that hasn't viewed them---should!!
MORNIN' LOLLY!!---When I think of you ---I remember your 'homemade bread' & sausage!!---ho!---I REALLY----REALLY MISS SUZANNE TOO!!---Not the same here without her!!----
I worried so about the little VA 'REBEL' last night!----Thanks to Dr. LIVING'S remark!---"Wild animals, raptors, don't have the kind of attachments that humans do. They tend to be fairly resilient. I'm not discounting any bond, but they tend to move on & losing young isn't uncommon."-----That is comforting to know----

Here's a video on the Norfolk Chicklet
WVEC Video
ROFLMAO Chrissy!
Good morning, everyone.
And how is your day??
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
Paula, that was a very good video of the NBG chick. Ugly mass. Hope all goes well for it. Jim you are right why does it take so long.
Off to run errands, BBL. Maybe live feed will be working by then, or at least, maybe they will let us know something.
HUGE flopping fish brought to nest in Scotland.
OMG Could not watch! So much of it's head had been dined upon, so much pulled out, and it was still flopping!!!!
Lolly it sure was a fresh fish and the baby was enjoying it. It has such a soft little voice. Cute. Hope they don't have any more problems.
I think there must be an intruder in Scotland.
Hi all I'm back,,, did yah miss me ???
Had my dinner, all jobs done and Frank isn't going to be naked anynore,,, PHEW !!
What with floppy fish and an intruder I seemed to have missed the best bits..
what do you all think about the other 2 eggs in Scotland,, they havn't hatched !!!
ARE THEY DUDS !!!
Perhaps Isla was lucky getting just the one chick,, at her age ???
More waiting time to see if the hatch,, but they should of by now,,, and still no more newscasts from the wardens ???

Chrissy I don't think those Swedish eggs look well. Hope they can keep this chick from harm. I e-mailed Suzanne today and she sounds a little down. Hope she gets her PC at home up and running.
Good Afternoon all ( :
I have been all day on porch. Little bluebirds are popping their heads out. Yet go back in. Mom and Dad have been trying to encourage one to come out. Almost did was out half way but decided not yet.
I just came in and realized although I've been in shade. My nose is "red" eeekkks sunburn.
Got to go so I might see a tumbling baby bluebird come out of nest box.
Yo Steve, any word on the live feed?
Hi Ceil pet,
I bet now Suzanne will have loads of mail to answer,, you have writen and I have,, Lolly to,,
So lets hope between us we have cheared her up a little,, I also sent her the San Jose banding vidio too,, just a little thing for her to watch.

Lolly, I wish Suzanne would get her PC hooked up but she would not have the time to be on at home.
Check out that wingspan~
I am beginning to think that the last eggs in Scotland will not hatch. It has been too long. She did very well just having that one at her age! LOL
LOoks like some nestovers in the nest
How old are the remaining eggs in Scotland?
4 chicks at CT!!! A first!!
Paula, do you think we are going to have a long weekend with no live feed?
Ceil,,
I agree with you pet,, if they havn't hatched by now I doubt they will..
Been back to the Docotors today,, and had blood taken so I have one arm without blood and I'm a little lightheaded too.
OR
I could be the drugs !!!!
I don't care either way pet,,, I just like the feeling,,,, I love flying without paying.....
Lolly
I must of done the same thing as you then pet,
I copied the bear story from here and told her all about the chat on here too,, oh dear,, at least she knows we are thinking of her,,and its that, that counts isn't it pet.

4 days Paula since the first chick hatched. They look strange.
Getting ready to go out. Will be back later tonight. Have a great evening everyone.
To old Paula pet,
I'm sure now that they are duds,,,
they should of all hatched 3 to 5 days apart,, and they are a lot older than that now...
Tomorrow Isla might smash them like she did with one yesterday and eat whats left.
If thats the case,, this little one is going to be so spoilt,,,, we will have to name him /her " BRAT".

I don't know Lolly. I sent Steve an email...
If the other eggs don't hatch this weekend, then they are probably duds in Scotland...according to Puleston Board
The following was from Suz today. LOL We will keep her on the blog!!!
No new hatching at SCOTLAND????? I have a feeling those last 2 eggs are
not going to hatch now, it's been too long. The one chick hatched on 18
May, and the eggs were laid closer than a week apart. There would be a
very large size difference. She laid her eggs on 11, 13, and 16 April,
so the other two may not hatch. That gal is getting old, and the first
egg she laid this year was her 50th. That's saying something! Think they
said on the site that an osprey will lay an average of 35 eggs in their
lifetime, and she laid 52...amazing! That's why I called her Wonder
Woman.
The last 2 eggs are 37 and 40 days old...I have heard of hatching at 40 or 41 days....
"Brat"...I thought that was the NBG eaglet! After all they went through to get her, and then the two fed her sooo well!
Oh, I feel so for the parents!
In fact, it was at CT cam...
Hi Both,,
Have either of you noticed if either Isla or Angus have been turning the two remaining eggs ????
I havn't not for a couple of days now ???

Oh, I have just had something weird happen. We have been having trouble with our sound. Checked settings, etc. Still....no luck. Could get sound but it was soft. When you were hearing voices at the PH nest, I heard nothing!
Just went to the stork cam. That is such a noisy cam and I had the volume on the control there way down. Well, guess what?! I raised the volume, exited the cam, and my sound is now restored! Weird!
Wow, Isla is loud now!!!
No, Chrissy,I have not noticed egg turning, but then I have not watched that cam much the last few days.
LOLLY
Were you usuing " REALPLAYER" at all ??????
Cos if so if you turn the sound down on that ,, all your sound if down.
love and hugs
Chrissy
XXXXXXX
Well, it was the player you are on when you are at the stork nest. I check and see what it is. I thought the control on it would just be for when that cam is up.????
The stork cam is viewed using real player. I thought the controls on the player were just for that cam....but I was wrong.
Leaving to run (actually drive!) into town. Looking for seat cushions for new desk chairs for my grandsons.
BBIALW
LOLLY,,
No pet,, realplayer controls all your sound,,, if you turn it off or down so will all your thing on your computer.
I found that out the hard way to,,, when watch Mei at the Zoo,, i got so upset that I couldnt hear her,, then I had a fiddle,, and low and behold the sound came back cos I turned realplayer back on.

Update on Live Feed...
There have been some power glitches today...hopefully live feed will be back up, but not sure when - don't think we will be without all weekend.
Yes, intruders means the population is thriving...a good thing!
Lisa at BWE yesterday posted that
Nest Update
05/22/08:
One of the eaglets apparently bumped our camera out of position, but it's provided us with a view of one of the areas where the eaglets are perching:
Lisa has 2 pics...
Both loons are at the nest - One is in the lake by the raft and the other is on the nest.......
Lucy & Louie Loon
LOL just saw a chick dancing on the back of the nest
LOL, they sure did bump it...never fails!
I thought you had live feed again at our nest - :(
Our nest really looks to me like the sides are falling away! Hope I am wrong.
There goes Pearl - practicing again
Now she is on her Log!!!
Eaglet finally tackling that nestover.
They sure have knocked some sticks off the sides, Jo, but it doesn't look in bad shape at all to me.
No live feed yet....but the pic on the still cam, you could see the wings and feet caught in mid motion!
Tiny hangs back there on the noon spot!
Almost time for you to hit the road!
Enjoy your 3 day weekend!
I need to find some dinner
BBL .......................
Thanks Jo...heading home...see ya later!
Was gone when Chrissy said good nite! Nite Chrissy!!!!!!!
Well I'm inside....still one bluebird baby keeps popping it's head and part of its body out the hole. So unless they do something now. It will be tomorrow. I guess I'll be porch sitting tomorrow. Hope I get to see one come out of the box. ( :
I named Dad "blue" and Mom "daisy".
There is a black bird bothering the eagle at the Delta nest. It is flitting around behind the nest.
Deb I have the nest on now. Aren't the 2 eaglets cute ( : awwwww
Yes, they are, Dana. I just wish they would turn around and face the camera once in awhile. At least they are in a good spot as far as the tree goes.
Here is a story on the NBG chick:
NBG Update
Evening Everybody!!
My Live Cam just came on!!!!
Happy Holiday to all who will be leaving---safe travels. I have to work Sat., so just be same ol, same ol around here.
Live feed is up, no sound, but we have a picture!!
Yay I see our live feed is back on! No sound, but it will have to do!!
Howdy, Dana, Deb, Lolly and Nature
If you missed Grey's on last night, it is part way through the show again tonight.
Got the back yard mowed and trimmed. Hope to work on the new garden over the long weekend!
Dana - glad you get to see the little bluebirds! That would be neat to see them fledge
Really going hi-tech in the care of baby Norfolk. Sounds like he is in good hands!
Yes it will Paula that is if I can catch it when it happens....I'm trying again tomorrow.
PH Update - 4:20pm PST - From Dr Sharpe
Dr. Weldy just called and they had just finished the 1 1/2 hour surgery on the wing. It has 3 wires wrapped around the bone and three external fixator pins that keep the wing stable. The wing shouldn't need to be wrapped, so it can move it pretty normally. He'll send photos tonight, but everything went well
Good Night friends...All have a nice weekend.
Hope to see you sometime tomorrow ( : niters
Night Dana, Hope you can get some pics of those baby bluebirds!
BBL
Some more PH news...
The blue tagged sub adult that attacked the PH nest didn't have a GPS unit (They are designed to fall off after 2-3 years), so they don't know who the intruder was.
It was K10 that chased off the intruder.
Good night, Dana
Hi All! Nite Dana - hope that little blue bird of happiness comes out of there tomorrow for you!
Thanks Paula & Deb for the updates from IWS & NBG.
Glad live feed came back in order to see Bed Time & Spidey looks to be staying around the edges.
Happy Feather Dreams to all
Nite naturenut! Hope your day is sunny tomorrow!
Raccoons in the PA woods
Loon nesting in the sunset - pretty
WIld Watch Cams:
Kent eagle high on the limb
Peek & Boo hiding behind tree trunk at Lake WA - fresh green leaves in their nest.
THREE (3) Bluebird eggs in the nest
Osprey incubating egg(s)
Time to call it a day......
All is quiet in our world of nature
Good Night
Peace to you & yours
Prayers for all being offered
Well, I have been trying to further investigate Deb's mystery bird to no avail - yet! I will keep digging.
Good evening, Mema Jo. I am sure Mits is really enjoying the M&M girls.
Hi Sharon, Had been checking cams before 'puter shutdown.
Does Deb have another mystery bird? Or are you mentioning that hawk from week or so ago?
The hawk was an immature Kriders Red-tail.
Thanks, Paula. That's very good news about the PH/SC chick's surgery going so well.
I wonder if there will be a follow-up surgery to remove the hardware.
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
By the way, while I was watching the BWE nest earlier, I could see the tail of the older chick where he/she perched toward the upper left-hand corner of the picture.
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
I don't know, Jim. Maybe it can be removed without more surgery?
G'nite all, I'm beat!
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYBODY.
Have an outstanding Memorial Day weekend.
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
I will put a picture of the new bird up in a bit. I am watching the eagle in the Delta nest get harassed. What is with these mean birds? She seemed mostly annoyed, not alarmed.
The bird in the front is the one I don't know what it is:
black and blue head
I rewound the Delta nest and she was alarmed, mate flew in and is helping. I will tape it and post the video.
Whatever is attacking the nest was black, a raven, maybe?
Just got unwound from my class reunion....we were so noisy, we sounded like a bunch of Magpies! Hotel guests were asking us not to run up and down the corridors after our party was over. LOL
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS
Hi Deb, the 2 birds w/bluish heads are Common Grackles. Some have purplish heads, but the bronze phase has the iridescent blue. Lovely, but considered "trash birds", pests like starlings.
Sounds like you had fun, Wanda. Glad you had a good time.
Thanks, that is the first time I have seen a grackle colored like that. I have the one farthest from me all the time, never had one with a blue and black head and lighter colored body.
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE.
Have a good day, everybody.
[:~)]
Jim
Morning all!
Beautiful Day!
Look at those eaglets perching on the edge of the nest!
GOOD MORNING PAULA...
Glad you mentioned the eaglets...I thought the Live Feed was down. Thank You!
From the looks of things, they haven't had their breakfast yet. I'd like to see them tackle a turtle. I have heard you all speak about them playing around with the shell, but have never seen that.
Good morning! Very quiet around here. Did not get on last night. Been reading comments. LOVE the picture of the NBG eaglet! Sure is getting good care.
Have forwarded news about PH to Suzanne. Will do the same about NBG.
