I was so fascinated with the owl last night and didn't realize it was a threat to the eagles. I was thinking the Norfolk pair would catch him and have him for a meal.
WOW!!---The NORFOLK nest is picture perfect!!----So AWESOME--it doesn't look real!!---I think it's the way the sun hits the nest in the a.m.!!---BOTH EAGLES ARE HOME!!

I just got finished looking at Bob Quinn's pictures. Awesome!! He is captures such beauty in his work. Thank you Bob and Lisa for posting them. I do always looks for a fox and little one. Since I seen Karla's picture which is beautiful.
Dana, do you have very many power outages in your area. We are lucky and don't have very many....maybe 1 a year. My Mom, near City Hospital, has them often. We got her a gas fireplace log set and a gas range so she will have heat and can cook when her power goes out. She doesn't need electricy to light her stove or the fireplace. Makes me and her feel secure.
Yeah, the cold is fairly miserable...can't sleep right, can't stay awake right!
I don't have any chicken soup, but I'm thinking of combining a can of Minestrone with some left over Pollo Loco chicken to make some. That stuff is always good, even if you aren't sick.
Wow, morning Norma and Dana. Morning again, Jim. Did you get any sleep? Thanks for the heads up on the other thread. Norma, that's the weather report I found after somebody told me about it. Not looking forward to that! In fact, pretty sure if we get anything like that I am OFF TOMORROW!! Not even going to attempt coming in. Darn, will miss our eagles! And you guys, too. And of course BW and all the critters. And I hope we continue to have eagles on our Norfolk cam, not owls! Well, back to the grind...
Was just looking at the Doppler radar. That must be a slow moving storm because they are not calling for anything until tonight and it is not that far away.
Eve. News last night!!---Most beautiful 5 mo. old PANDA born in AUSTRIA!!----didn't catch name---But what a "LITTLE IMP"!!---Few min. he/she was on---driving MOM wild---wasn't that stable on her feet either--such a little show off!!---Hope we can see her again!!---DID ANY ONE SEE HER?
Just read back what I missed. Jim, are you talking about the snow geese flying by the Osprey cam in Bob's photos? That's the only thing that looks like "bees" froma distance. Awesome photos, Bob Quinn!!! As always! Eaglets in Tesoro are awake and up. Mom flew over to in front of them, and she's been panting ever since. But they're wiggling...
Good morning all. I'm at work so I'll be checking in on and off. Hopefully I can get Sandy on here over lunch hour. I missed the morning sighting! And it looks like Belle did not sleep over in the next. BUMMER!
ZOO was very quiet, we didn't really have the bad wind they were predicitng, a few qusts in a.m., by the time I got to zoo it was quiet and calm, only clicked 41 people yesterday, and I was the only one on the trail
Good Morning, costume lady, suzanne, eagle-eyed sharon,normabyrd,wvgal_ dana, and everyone who i might have missed. The weather here is still cold, and the weather man has said we will be getting from 5 to 6 inches of snow tonight and tomarrow so i am ready.I was worried about the eagles nest here with all the wind we had the other night,so i went to check it out yesterday after i got off work and found it to be OK. I hope that everybody has a great day.
MALE EAGLE at TESORO NEST was up in the nest calling & FEMALE EAGLE landed beside him!!---Saw a little head pop up---can't believe how much the chick has grown!!--BEAUTIFUL!!!
Awww, waiting for something to load on other computer, and man is it slow. Check Tesoro, chick are up and have their beaks open too. They're adorable. Parent is gone. Oh, we have an eagle back. Ok, back to it...
Tonight A chance of snow and sleet in the evening...then freezing rain after midnight. Ice accumulation of less than one quarter of an inch. Lows in the upper 20s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent. Friday Freezing rain in the morning changing to rain. Additional ice accumulation around one tenth of an inch. Highs in the upper 30s. East winds 10 to 15 mph...becoming south in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation near 100 percent.
Eagles in our nest now hopefully weatherproofing....... Sharon, I am in Mercer County too, but in PA. Beautiful sunny cold day now, but the winter storm watch is up with sleet, etc. for tonight and tomorrow. Oh well, if I were back in TX it would be a tornado watch so I guess it is always something with the weather.
Good morning custome lady. Hello Suzanne. I have been working with Sandy here at the rehab hospital in Ranson, WV. She is a week away from going home. Actually, I need to go and help her into the shower now. Will be back later. Keep me updated on what I miss. Thanks!
Looks like Lisa beat me to the punch and posted a link to my latest photos.
Wanda - Suzanne was right, those are snow geese. Sometimes there are so many that when they are off in the distance and the flock takes off it sounds like a jet engine.
Check the OWL CAM!!---Some info on the GREAT HORNED OWL---They have them at the same site!!---No mention of taking over EAGLE or other bird nests there!----VERY PROTECTIVE OF THEIR OWN!!
I've done some thinking about Norfolk. During last season bet the owl was around. They did not have night light so there was no watching. The eagles did ok last season. I just think maybe their nest is closer. When they start staying the night. They will either take care of the problem or the problem will move to another tree.
ATLANTA CAM is up!!---Little MEI is asleep on the log bed!---LUN LUN'S head is visible!!---eating bamboo!!---Read update!!--Seems 'LITTLE PRINCESS MEI'S appetite has picked up!!---Nursing often--yesterday climbed up on LUN LUN & nursed 21 mins.--eating all kinds of food!!---The little 'DEAR" pooped 7 piles yesterday!!--- ho!---They do have FUNNY updates!!
Good Terrific Thursday to ALL OF YOU! Late coming in here but had to watch our Royal Couple for a while. Going over into emails (not too many this morning) & find the link to Bob's photos plus read about what I missed!
DANA, in speaking of my New Knee, I meant that I had a cortisone shot. It is like getting a new knee to me. That shot works very well for me...I know it doesn't work for everyone, so guess I am lucky. I get one every 6 months.
This PANDA is the first panda to be conceived naturally by a pandas in captivity in Europe!!---Hope someone has found it by googling "austria baby panda"---
THANKS DANA!---The news report last night & also in this video---You will see this was her/him 'COMING OUT PARTY'---Thought they said she was 5 mos.!!----Thanks HELEN---I fell in LOVE with him/her at 1st sight!!---Wanted SUZANNE to see him!!--Reminds us of PRECIOUS!! ho! p.s. Guess he is a he--ho!---name FU LONG!!
Norma your not dumb. I found the site and the video of 5 month old Fu Long she is beautiful. I was thinking you met a panda cub over there was born just recently. Thank you Norma for the video. She is a cutie!! ( :
MORNIN' DEB---I have been so carried away with the 5 mo. BABY PANDA born in AUSTRIA!!---I haven't checked every thing!! I have been thinking about you this a.m. & wondered how much snow you have!!--
It did say Fu Long means Lucky Dragon and he is shy and snubbed the Austrian foreign minister and an entire Chinese delegation at a ceremony last month. lol he is shy it says...lol
DANA--You are so CUTE!!---I must tell you that's where my husband was stationed when he was in service---He had it made!---BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY!!---SKIING, etc.---I think this water thing happened after he was safely home in WV!!! ho!
Morning Norma, I think we got about 2 1/2" this week. It is hard to tell with so much wind. It was enough to cover up the dirty snow on the sides of the road, so everything is white again!
Been on other computer, and just read comments I have missed.
Good morning, all.
Norma, I googled the Austrian baby panda, and he is ADORABLE!!! That is the cutest video I watched. Just another precious panda baby. But I like our Precious!! She has spunk, loves to climb!!! Think they are trying to find her now. OH, there they are!!!
Don't look for me tomorrow. They're not even expecting me in with the ice arriving, so I may just stay up late and sleep in tomorrow!
Bai is standing up, and Precious is behind her, just fell over, so she rolled over, got back up, and now she's going in the corner, on a bucket or something.
Both still hanging out in our nest. So nice to see them!
INFO ON THE NORFOLK ZOOMERS FROM THE ME & FTLOE FORUMS: Repeating this info from previous thread since the question came up last eve while watching the GHOwl....... Nancy in Va....One of the gals on the Maine forum has actually met and now recently talked with some folks working the cams at Norfolk. Here is the current info as we learn it. "I talked with Reese Lukei this afternoon and he is one of the camera operators for the NBG eagles. There are two others...Joe Foreman, as we all thought, and a third person (did not get a name) with access to the controls. Joe "zooms" for us from the Botanical Gardens and from his home as well. Reese does most of his work with the cam from his home in Va. Beach via computer controls. He tells me that the 'fine tuning' is almost complete. This morning Joe Foreman whose photos we are all enjoying did in fact post on the Maine forum. Here is what else he had to say.... Perry Mathewes from NBG and Stephen Living, Watchable Wildlife Biologist from the Va. Department of Game and Inland Fisheries are two "Zoomers". So now we have some names to put with the awesome camera work we see coming out of Norfolk.
Oh good grief, DUH, dumb me. Yes, Mits, 10 their time is 1 our time. So ok, can't view the $#^*(_() thing anyway, I'll be on the road. Geesh, see what work does to ya? Really messes me up!
And she's off. Precious is on her way to the top of a tree. Or not. She changed her mind, climbing back down. Or getting stuck. She's got the cutest little butt!
Well kids, time for me to hit the road. Our Precious made it up to a nice branch bed for her panda nap! She's adorable. Norma, hope the weather report is wrong too! But in case it isn't, I will definately enjoy my long weekend. All have a great eagle/panda day. All have a great weekend if I don't see you tomorrow!
Yes, Dana. It was sold 25 or more years ago to Rick Pill. He is our attorney; he then sold it to Pat Dawson, another attorney, and he then sold it to someone else from Pa.
I am thinking that the NBG couple will soon be staying the night in the nest ------ THEN I hope the hootie owl leaves and doesn't continue to cause us concern.
HI All; Well it's about time to head for home and get ready for the snow we are supposed to get later today and tonight, about six to nine inches.I will also check on the eagle nest that is just south of where i live.I hope that everyone has a good evening.

Yes, Norma, the winds were so bad here, that I had Gene drive me to the doctor. I am a real sissy when it comes to driving in the wind or snow.
I think Bluefield is supposed to get the quarter-inch of ice too.

Eagles in NOrfolk, PH and our nest!
I've done some thinking about Norfolk. During last season bet the owl was around. They did not have night light so there was no watching. The eagles did ok last season. I just think maybe their nest is closer. When they start staying the night. They will either take care of the problem or the problem will move to another tree.

Wanda so happy for you that the shot works for you. Even 6 months of relief is a BLESSING.
Wanda I always wanted to go to Austrila. If there is something in their water to make you conceive. I've changed my mind I'm NOT going. lol
I am so happy to have this shot now; means I will be able to enjoy our trip out west more. I could walk just fine but steps were not very good.
Dana, I guess we both better stay away. Don't want anymore little ones of my own. Would love another grandchild, but my daughters are done with that.
Both in our nest
MORNIN' DEB---I have been so carried away with the 5 mo. BABY PANDA born in AUSTRIA!!---I haven't checked every thing!! I have been thinking about you this a.m. & wondered how much snow you have!!--
It did say Fu Long means Lucky Dragon and he is shy and snubbed the Austrian foreign minister and an entire Chinese delegation at a ceremony last month. lol he is shy it says...lol
Wanda you said your Mother is near City Hospital. Did she once live beside of you and Gene?
Dana, don't go confusing AUSTRIA with AUSTRILIA...cub is in AUSTRIA
baby panda
I found some more video on the Austria panda cub. This is raw video, no sound.
I think you're right, Paula.
I better get in and cast my last 2 votes on egg dates.
NORMA, AWESOME SHOT OF TIGER AT NZ, CHECK IT OUT
Been on other computer, and just read comments I have missed.
Oh, did anybody watch the Polar Bear thingy at SD this morning? I forgot, busy working.
DEB!!---THANKS---That's the same video!!---He is a TRIP!!---
Bai is standing up, and Precious is behind her, just fell over, so she rolled over, got back up, and now she's going in the corner, on a bucket or something.
Both still hanging out in our nest. So nice to see them!
Deb Thank you for finding that clip.
Norma That's a keeper! Right?
Oh, sorry, my computer wouldn't go to that one you mentioned at KARE 11. #$%#$# computer.
sUZANNE THINK IT IS 10 SD TIME, WHICH WOULD BE 1 OUR TIME
B & L JUST HANGING OUT

INFO ON THE NORFOLK ZOOMERS FROM THE ME & FTLOE FORUMS:
Repeating this info from previous thread since the question came up last eve while watching the GHOwl.......
Nancy in Va....One of the gals on the Maine forum has actually met and now recently talked with some folks working the cams at Norfolk.
Here is the current info as we
learn it.
SUZANNE---I saw him on the news last night & couldn't forget his wobbly little "black legs"!!!--- Let's hope this weather forecast is WRONG!!!
HELEN--Going to check the TIGER!!
Oh good grief, DUH, dumb me. Yes, Mits, 10 their time is 1 our time. So ok, can't view the $#^*(_() thing anyway, I'll be on the road. Geesh, see what work does to ya? Really messes me up!
Turning eggs in BWE.
Feeding at Tesoro. Those little babies are getting big!
And she's off. Precious is on her way to the top of a tree. Or not. She changed her mind, climbing back down. Or getting stuck. She's got the cutest little butt!
Those 2 chicklets are standing in Tesoro. They sure grow fast!
Great horned owl
I found this on the Owl visits.
Eagle in CO.
what a great shot of owl, Deb
Barton's Cove cam is up and there is an eagle in the nest.

Sure would like to have it. I want to post on Kent Forum because Allison was just giving the update on the nest. Thanks!
Paula - I put the article about Zoomers working from HOME a few comments up
Sorry DANA, I didn't see your comment about my Mom living next to us. Yes, she did live next door for many years.
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Jo you have mail!
Eating at VA
Hi Jo and anyone else I missed coming in.
Wanda did she sell her house next to you?
Yep was getting my clogs and sandals mixed up for countries lol
Yes, Dana. It was sold 25 or more years ago to Rick Pill. He is our attorney; he then sold it to Pat Dawson, another attorney, and he then sold it to someone else from Pa.
Wow Wanda time sure flys.
Empty nests in CO and Barton's Cove.
Divers!
Only 3 divers and they were headed away from the camera.
I've got 8 cams open on a 15 inch lcs screen and 4 minimized below.
Need a bigger screen lol
looks like a bluejay or woodpecker at norfolk,
fly-in at NORFOLK
BOTH are there sharing lunch at NBG
Sent the pic out
Thanks Paula
DEB What url address are you using to bring up the WMP for Bartons' Cove?
I am thinking that the NBG couple will soon be staying the night in the nest ------ THEN I hope the hootie owl leaves and doesn't continue to cause us concern.
Time to start Moving!
