Ok, you ARE here! Good morning, Candy. Nobody was here when I first came over, thought you got lost. Did you see Belle this morning? Wanda thought it was Lib, cause eagle came in went directly to the BR and stayed there until time to leave!
SUZANNE I got up late today so didn't get on at home. I can't seem to get the nest up here at school, but will keep trying. Got to go as kids will be coming in. ALL HAVE A FUN DAY and SUZANNE, you get home in one piece to your kitties.
GOOD MORNING CANDY... Thanks for holding the door open. I hope you all didn't get cold. I was reading comments about Baby Tessa and almost missed another visit. THE DOOR IS NOW CLOSED.
Dana, Gene and I were looking at some old photos and ran into one of the two of us getting ready to go to the Prom. It was taken in the living room of 443 Faulkner Ave. If you would like to see it, I will post it to my Wanda's Wishes and will let you know when it is there. It takes me a while.
Our Pastor asked the congregation to bring in old photos and place them on a table for all to see and try to guess who they are. Sounds like fun.
It's too early for cams at IWS, but Dr. Sharpe has posted and excellent Update Report on his doings with the new camera stuff recently. He really works very hard at the eagle restoration program, and he does an excellent job.
I forgot to tell you earlier that Fatty the Crocodile has hauled himself up on the far bank and then crawled back into the pretty posies to sniff the fragrance while sunning himself.
GOOD MORNIN EAGLE BUDDIES!!---CONGRATS! CANDY--You are #1 today & every day----HELLO!--CANDY--SUZANNE--SHARON---DANA--WANDA & MOVIN' JIM!---WOW!-----The computer is giving me a rough time this a.m.--Maybe it's getting even with me!!---ho!---It's a slate grey winter a.m. today in WV---temp. 22°---expecting snow showers through out the day!!!---BEAUTIFUL DAY---I was greeted my BELLE this a.m.-----LIFE IS GOOD!!---ENJOY!
Good morning, all. I have been awake for awhile, but didn't want to get out of the warm bed. It is a freezing -18 degrees here, that is just nasty. At least there is no wind yet, so no wind chill.
SUZANNE----If you check yesterday's blog---you can see I posted 'DIVERS SUZANNE'---the minute you left the bldg.---They were on there for ever---Several --Keep checking the reef & we received several waives!!---Don't know if things are fixed or not!---Keep an eye out for them!!
The handsome 'LITTLE PRINCE' can't seem to get the bamboo in his mouth fast enough!---ho!-------MEI-----is eating bamboo too---but not as fast as TAI!!
Yeah, Suz, it is a weird site with Fatty's nose in the flower bed...AND he had to crawl yards further away from the water to get to them.
Course lately when he's been in his usual spot, there have been hundreds of Cattle Egrets back in the flowery area, preening and watching him. Maybe he thinks he would like some egret for dinner.
Deb...what style house do you live in? I remember in the old days people usually had a small, two-story, frame house to make it easier to heat. The bedrooms would be above the heated areas and the heat would rise. But you wouldn't want to get out of bed, would get dressed as fast as possible and run down to the kitchen to get warm next to the range.
MORNIN' HELEN!!----DEB got out of bed because she wants to see what is happening in the EAGLE WORLD this a.m.---& she LOVES our company!!----ho!----DEB--I was speaking for myself---That's a GREAT reason---I think!
Good Morning Mits ( : I really enjoyed my visit with you at the zoo yesterday on the Sloth bear cam. I do have a question. When mating time comes for the Sloth Bear. Are they difficult to become pregnant as the panda are?
Morning, Mits. As long as I stay inside this morning, its ok. It is supposed to get up to 16, so it better hurry. Unfortunately, it is now -20. That is normal as this is usually the coldest hour of the winter days. This should be our last cold day. Forecast for the 30's, starting tomorrow.
HELEN----Did you see TAI yesterday?---I have been wondering where his DAD is----I have only seen MEI lately---ALSO---DANA saw you with the SLOTH BEARS yesterday-----That is SO COOL----Next week you must tell us what you are wearing----ho!
Norma I was not at the zoo yesterday. I was watching for Mits at the Sloth Bears. That is where I found her on the Zoo Cam. That is what I mean't by visiting with Mits at the zoo "on cam".
Alright, was doing something else and not reading the blog. I see you all have seen the turkeys. So ok, someday I will actually read before posting. Someday! Don't know when, but ... someday.
Morning, Mits. Loved your story from yesterday on the 2 yr old Sloth Bear...way too funny! Can't weigh him because he destroyed the scale. I'm still laughing when I think of that! See, not always the females that like to hide their real weight, boys can do it too !!!
Jim, thanks for the egret explanation! I have a MUCH better pic in my mind now!!! Sneak attack I can understand from a cro... stopping to smell the roses I cannot.
DANA, I'm looking up your question about the sloths, I do know there mating season is in the warm months....NORMA, I where my FONZ jacket (navy blue) with my ID badge, if it is colder I were a heavier coat, usually wear tan slacks.
DANA----I knew that!!----That's why I thought it was so GREAT that you recognized her!!!---But if you knew what HELEN was wearing---She would be easier to spot!! WHOA! HELEN----Next week---A YELLOW ROSE behind your ear! ho!
Suzanne, thought he was going to try and take the fence down, fortunately I have a number for the keepers and called them and they said he was fine, but if he started to go after the steel bamboo to call them......then what run for my life????
Thanks HELEN!----I didn't know you had a FONZ jacket!!---WHOA!!---Now I know I am GREEN with envy!!---SERIOUSLY!---I am so proud of you working there!----My grand-kids think I know a celebrity!!---
Norma, you crack me up...and yes, Dana they have the same problems as pandas do....have not heard of any more plans for Hana....but....they did get a female company for Merlin, so his pacing days may be over ..her name is Khali, and she will be a companion for him not a mate...guess you could call her a sloth mistress
Suzanne, they are wonderful animals, and not afraid to come up to the glass and look you in the eye, as I was sitting there yesterday, Hana came up and leaned against the window next to me.
Good Morning Everyone! Boy, Sharon, the snowflakes in Bluefield on the cam are really coming down! It is cold here in the valley but the wind is not blowing!
Morning everyone. No eagles on a couple of cams I just checked, but that was before I caught up on the posts. Light snow here in Grove City. (NW PA) Off to make bread, then maybe back online to check cams. Have a GREAT day.......
MORNIN' JO!!----No REHAB today---RIGHT?---Reading about "little" BUTA BUTA----She weighs 78 lbs.--She is a third of the size of LUN LUN & seems to be almost as tall!!! She is probably sleeping now!!---It's almost time to meet her fans!!! ho!
Excellent question, DANA. Merlin is 27 yrs old, Khali is 8 yrs old. She comes to us from the Seattle Woodland Park Zoo.She bred once, but she is not genetically valuable and so she will not be bred with Merlin (she is on birth control) Her role here will be purely be as a companion for Merlin. She has been here since November in quarantine for awhile, then she had to have a root canal done. She has been housed next to Merlin as they got to know each other and were put together for the first time yesterday, and as one keeper said, she hasn't seen Merlin this happy in a long time. I can't wait to see them together:)
No rehab today.. Did pretty well yesterday.. Haircut day today.. I put ButaButa cam up - but no one in the hammock den yet..not even a sleeping panda! Suzanne is right about it being time for someone to clean out the Owl Hotel. Hasn't been that dirty in a long time!
Mits, you've said before they had a great personality, and I just think that's so cool! That male sounds just like somethings boys would do! Too funny. I'm gonna have to get there one day to watch them. When the weather warms up a bit, though. Read a bit as a LOT! Mits, that sounds so cool about Merlin and Khali. Sounds like she's gonna give him a lot of company.
Morning, Jo.
Morning, Grannyblt. Didn't know we were supposed to get snow today. Hope we don't get it, I'm a bit south of you.
Morning, Paula.
Thanks for the heads up about Norfolk, Deb. I've missed watching them!
Mits how long does a Sloth Bear live since Merlin is 27yrs old. Sounds like an "old man" that got a young pretty lady to stroll around with. I am speaking nicely here. ( : Can't wait hope I get to see them together.
Has anyone checked SD CAM?---I can't read it---but do see a 3---guessing it's GAO GAO!---He is on display often!!---WE WANT PRECIOUS TO BE SHOWN BEFORE 11:30 a.m.!!---Please---
Haven't read, but ZZ is trying to get out of where she is! She is NOT in a tree, and is adorable to watch!! But she sure wants out. Trying to climb the cement to get to the door.
WOW!--THANKS PAULA & DEB!---SUZANNE---hope you got to see the DIVERS!!----Nice video from FL--We got to meet LYNDA WHITE & how delightful to see the excited school kids----That the BEST!!!
Good morning, Dave. Darn, missed our visit. Squiggles is now trying to climb the wire door. She sure wants out, oh, and there she goes on the wire. What a little climber she is! Oopsie, down she went. Probably be right back.
SUZANNE---These were different DIVERS----Something must still be wrong with the reef!---2 of these guys were bald & those others we see are kids!----I saw at least 5!!--Bet it will be like yesterday --- off & on all day!!!
Norma, the reefs all over the world are decaying...too much pollution. People are trying to figure out how to stop the pollution and heal the reefs. Reefs have tons of fish and such that live in them. Nap time for the little one. Maybe. No, off she goes, gonna try the wire door again.
I checked with a trademark web-site and it said as long as i use it and no one else has it before me it's protected by common law. Thanks everyone Dave
YEAH SUZ---You are right!!----They are all taking pics & notes of the reef-----What is to our left?---They go that way & back!!----I watched a NATURE show a few weeks ago----All reefs are in danger---as is the planet!!!
I now have those photos (1958 Prom) taken inside 443 Faulkner Ave. Dana, did you ever live there, or did you own it and rent it? The gown that I am wearing was to later become my wedding gown. My mother made a lace jacket to go over it (didn't wear strapless gowns to a wedding in those days) and a fingertip veil. Hope it makes you smile.
HELEN---Tell them about the SLOTH BEAR'S teeth!!---They have to be brushed often & they sometime take the brush from the worker! ho!---Tell them why----I think that is most interesting!!
Wanda it isn't there the picture. We lived in the 443 side and rented the 441 side. Until doctor said steps was making my Cervical and Spinal stenosis worse. We moved to one floor rancher. Then rented out 443 also still rented 441.
Sloth bears have notoriously bad teeth because, when they suck up insects, some dirt or tree bark will get in too, and it wears away the bears' teeth. We’re hoping to keep Bala’s teeth in better shape by starting young. He’s very good at holding the open-mouth position and seems to enjoy the brushing sensation against his teeth and gums. Only occasionally does he try to steal the toothbrush, but every time he gives it right back so we can continue brushing.
Prom pics just came up for me - Beautiful & the gowns bring back many many fond memories of my school dances! And that is a lot of years to go back through !!! lol
HELEN---I make a 'MEAN' pot of CHILI!!----1st thing I learned to cook after I was married!!-----1st recipe the girls asked for--in fact--when kids came home from school with them---MOM'S CHILI??? I am not a good cook!!---Don't like to either!!---ENJOY!--(good day for chili)---
Time for me to hit the road. Darn work keeps interferring with my blogging. Well, guess they pay me to work, not blog. Is that snow on the BWE nest? Wasn't that white this morning! No snow here, or my cubemate lives in MD, and no snow there. Glad of that. Was nice to see our baby ZZ for a change. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Norma, those babies should have hatched 2 days ago. I guess it is not an Allen Hummer. Some other species. One species takes 17 days to hatch. That would make it tomorrow.

DANA...no snow on this end of county.
Lady with blonde hair in pony tail just picked up ZZ and took her.
BALA IS A HOOT!!!
great video on Tesoro, Paula
Does anyone have the Tesoro cam up? It is pointing at the ground. All of a sudden it just went there.

DEB---That is scary!!---Anyone else know what happened at TESORO?-----maybe the cam slid----Looking at a muddy road?
They must be working on the cam, as it is moving now.
DANA, just went to WANDAS' WISHES AND POOF THEY WERE THERE.
While they were moving the cam, you could see around the area. It looks like a very pretty lake area.
Sorry the photos aren't very clear, but, you must know by now, I am digitally and computer challenged!

HEY BEAUTIFUL WANDA!!----I don't think he is waiting----I THINK HE IS HOME!!---What do you think?
OK Norma, let's say he is waiting for BELLE to come home.
He hasn't moved from that spot; maybe the cam is frozen.
HEY!!---We have to think POSTIVE!!-----RIGHT!----ho!
I wondered the same thing, but there are very slight movements if you watch his head.
I do think I see his turn now and then. But not a feather has moved since Belle left. She probably told him to "stay there and be still".
Head.
yes, head is turning
He moved!!!
HURRY---The HUMMING BIRD is off her nest & you can see 2 eggs!!
Yup, picked at a stick or two...now back to watching off the back of the nest
Eagle at WE
Eagle at West End nest.
Norma, those babies should have hatched 2 days ago. I guess it is not an Allen Hummer. Some other species. One species takes 17 days to hatch. That would make it tomorrow.
Lib looks Love-Sick. LOL
