Thanks for the new thread, Steven. All of fws.gov is down this morning. Was down when I first tried to bring up the cam about 4:30, so it's not you. Thanks for the heads up, Megan. I asked you on the other thread, how do you put out the fruit for the birds? Just cut it, quarters or something and put it on the ground? Or do you have special fruit feeders or something?
Bai has taken ahuge mouthful of bamboo into the den on the right, and backed right out of that and now she's dragging it into the den on the left. Somewhere alone the line, I've lost Squigs. Oh, here she comes out of the den on the right. She was in the corner, so I'm guessing Bai dragged her into that den when she first was gonna go in there with her bamboo. Squigs is just watching, not coming out.
Hello Suzanne and Sharon:) Suz- I put the fruit out on the ground where I feed the birds(honestly, I usually pitch it out the window) The bananas, I put out whole and just crack open the top,the birds like the skin and the inside. Apples, I usually split in half. I see the mockingbird, robins, woodpeckers and sometimes wren eating fruit. Often a rabbit will come out and eat the apple too. And of course the deer and squirrels will eat anything and everything.
Ok, thanks Megan! I put out some old bananas last year when you first mentioned this, and the fuss budgets never touched them! Ewwww, what a mess to clean up later! But I'll get some apples and maybe bananas and try again. So thanks for the reminder about the fruit!
Megan, I tried the fruit thing last year and my birds are like Suz's; they won't touch it. Usually, we will see nocturnal animals cleaning up the fruit. I do have some left over grapes and oranges from Christmas; maybe I will try to put them in a feeder of some sort, off the ground. I guess the night critters have to eat too. Don't want to attract a bear!
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!!---Thanks STEVEN for the new thread!!----CONGRATS!! FLOWER GIRL---You are always #1----HELLO MEGAN--SUZANNE--& BLUEFIELD SHARON!!!---I have been trying to get on the BLOG for about an hour!!---Don't you feel TERRIBLE when you can't get on!! Thought I had talked too much about football yesterday!! ho!---PROMISE SUZANNE!!---NO FOOTBALL TODAY!!---Just let me stay on!!---ho!!---IT is a VERY COLD winter a.m. here in WV---temp. has gone from 7° to 12° now!!!----We haven't had any snow-- -----LIFE IS GOOD!!----ENJOY!!
Hi Wanda, maybe my birds are just different, I don't know. Really just discovered by accident that the mocker would eat banana when I threw a rotten one out the window and saw him eating it later. I have better luck with apples and banana. I only put out an orange when it's going bad, they are so expensive. We have worried for years about attracting a bear into the yard with the birdfeeders. I have never seen one here, but know they may be around.
I could watch the 'LITTLE PRINCE' eat his bamboo---This weather doesn't seem to bother him!!---I also found a page--pic from CHINA--"9" BABY PANDAS----Each wanting to go in a different direction!!!---ADORABLE!!
Well, hello beautiful Norma:) I feel your pain, often I get locked out of the blog, last week I couldn't get in for days. When the thread gets long, I usually have issues due to dial up, but lately it has been a real problem for me no matter how long the thread.
My birds do eat apples--oranges---but I have had no luck with the bananas!---I have lots of deer in my lawn & they enjoy veggies too!---Also ENJOY RAIDING MY FEEDERS!!---ho!
I just checked out our nest and it looks like someone brought in a big stick and placed it in the middle. Belle will take care of it when she comes later.
Morning, Norma. Your football conversations don't bother me, I hope you stay on all day! I think my birds are going through a phase right now. I have a red-tailed hawk that has been hanging around for about a month now, and he's not bashful about coming up to the door and perching on my back porch to watch the birds. But the sparrows have pretty much taken off (probably no loss, but they have to eat too), and the finches have returned, along with the titmouse, downy woodpeckers, cardinals and other smaller birds. I also put some new feeders up in another location of my yard, and seems the birds like that location. They're hanging around there, and not eating very much from their normal feeders! I'm saving a ton of money from not buying so much bird seed, but don't know what happened to all the sparrows and doves. Rarely see a dove lately, and the place used to be full of them. So I'm gonna try some fruit and see what happens. Not too sure about putting it on the groud, cause I DO have skunks and opossums that come to my back door to eat the cat food! I see them too much in the morning, though it has been a while...thank God! So we'll see how the fruit goes this weekend. Put some on the ground, and I have a tray feeder on the ground, put some in there too. The chipmunks like that feeder, it's low enough that they can get in it and sit and just pig out those little jaws! They're like a vacuum cleaner, you can follow the trail in the seed where they've been.
SUZANNE---You won't believe!!--YESTERDAY---after you had gone, I checked the DIVERS!!----OH LORD---They were at least 6 or more there for a long time!!---The kid with the BIG EYES that always comes right up to the window--WAVED--& HONESTLY THEY JUST KEPT COMING!!---I told DANA & she looked then said----"There are more than 6---They are EVERYWHERE!!"---ho!---SORRY you weren't here!!
Wow, Norma, have never seen that many at one time there! I think there must be something with the coral, they keep checking it when they come down. Hope it's not deteriorating! I've been checking on and off this morning, but no divers yet. Course now that you're here, could be any time now! They're waiting for you.
The NZOO'S PINK FLAMINGOS are all wading in the water---along with a hundred ducks swimming with them---It is a BEAUTIFUL SIGHT to see---the sun is shining on the water & the steam is coming up around them!!----AWESOME !
SUZANNE----I usually see the doves later in the year----I, too, have different little varmints around at night--opossums too!!---Haven't had a "chipmunk" in a long time!!---I adore those little creatures!!!----Such fun to watch!!!
SUZANNE----I noticed most all the divers had cameras & they were inspecting the coral formations!!------I thought maybe it was some sort of training school!!---Not all stopped & looked in like the one kid does!!----They weren't swimming very fast either!!---TWAS' FUN!!! --- ho!
Happy T.G.I.F. everyone! I'll have a busy day at work today, and I won't be home tomorrow, so I thought I better pop in to say hello. I"ve been in a cleaning and purging mood at home, so I haven't been on the computer much lately. Stay warm!!
Norma, I usually have doves year around, but not this year. Every once in a while I see one, and I usually see them in pairs. I kinda miss them! They also mate for life, so don't like it when I only see one.
Morning, Sunny! Sounds like you're keeping busy purging...something I definately need to do. Can you bottle that mood and send me a dozen or so bottles??????
Ya know, Suzanne, I haven't seen my doves this year either! I usually have 4. I did see a couple of hawks swoop into the neighborhood a couple of days ago. And we have millions of Starlings eating the fruit from our trees, and leaving lovely deposits on our cars. I need to get my new suet out tonight or tomorrow.
Now that you mention it, Sunny, I only have 1 or 2 starlings this year also. Do have to say I'm glad of that, but they don't eat the bird seed anymore. They prefer the cat food, so they come right on the back porch and help themselves. It's Purina naturals with vitamins, so I guess they're healthy critters! They don't like the Chef's Blend! But certainly a completely different bunch of birds this year as in the past. Wonder why????
I have plenty of mourning doves, sparrows, cardinals, finches, nuthatches, titmouse, woodpeckers. Have seen no starlings this year. I have the white-throated sparrow that is just gorgeous. Yesterday, I saw all the birds flying away over the house, looked out and there was a hawk flying out of a pine tree.
Good Morning, it is 19 here this morning on our way to the 30's. Tomorrow we are supposed to reach the 40's. I am hoping some of the ice in the shade on my driveway will melt away!
MORNIN' SUNNY & DEB!!---GREAT to have you kids back----It's up to 18° here now!!----but we might make it to 40°----I was catching up on email----DEB--I agree with SUZANNE---I think your bird has the GOLDEN EAGLE coloring!!!---We had a wounded GOLDEN EAGLE in our county last winter---sent to PA REHAB--& released!!---They are rare in this area of WV----What do you think SUNNY?---You all are much more knowledgeable that I am---IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!
I was hoping for a golden eagle, but I have never seen one. They are not common in this part of the state. I will take the picture in and see what the GF&P thinks. It is amazing how lucky I get sometimes to find eagles so close and get good shots.
Morning, Jo! Hope you get well soon! Terrible weather to be out and sick. Norma, saw Precious this morning, but briefly. She was trying to hide from Bai. They were in one den, and Squigs started coming out in the hall, and Bai picked her up in her mouth and put her back in the den. Eventually, she snuck out but then Bai decided she was gonna move all the bamboo into her dens. Squigs hid. Too funny.
I got on at the right time. I was reading about the site and they are doing research on the health of the reef. It sounds like all diving and snorkeling is pretty restricted. You have to attend a class before you can dive.
With all the pollution in the oceans today, the reefs are dying. I hate to see that, the reefs hold a lot of marine life! Glad these guys are keeping an eye on this reef.
I thought I'd let you know all,, the photo you sent of the unidentified Eagle Chick,, I have sent to my local Raptor Centre and am waiting on a reply, I hope you don't mind all, I just wanted to help, but if you have already found out what it is, please tell me ??? Beautiful chicklet isn't it, wouldnt like to be on the ends of those tallons though !!!!
be back later all, Hope you are ok this dull and very wet day here.
Just looked at my watch! It's time for me to hit the road. I'm thinking it's about 10, and I'm gonna sneak out early. That worked real well this week...NOT. Squigs is outside playing, rolling on a big toy, adorable! All have a great weekend. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Can't wait to hear what the chicklet is,,, but it's another one for my album, you know it would make a lovley " FRIEND'S CARD", wouldn't it. Those eyes get you everytime !!!
Thanks to all for continuing the Power Prayer for Sandra. No update as of today. Will try to make contact this evening. I just know it is helping her with all our strong thoughts of recovery going her way.
Hi everyone;Well it is time to go home.I hope everyone has a great weekend.I just posted more wildlife on my indiana wildlife blog. These are photos i have taken. Enjoy!!! See ya monday-----Dave
I put pictures in album you can see that the white is not there. In one of the pics it does on that side (his left) looks alittle lighter. But no white spot.
Hi All, This is the reply I got back from Andy at my local Raptor Centre. It looks as if the chicklet is a baby Bald Eagle. Hope its helped,
love and hugs Chrissy XXXXXXXXX
Hi It looks like a species of fish-eagle by the size of the beak. Usually though a mature fish eagle will have some white parts. Is the bird in the States? If so it would be a Bald Eagle but UK would be a White-tailed Sea Eagle. If it is another part of the world it could be another sort of fish/sea eagle. So if you could let us know where in the world I can hopefully identify it. Regards Andy
He's a lovley bloke [Andy] our biggest Raptor over here is a Scotish White Tailed Sea Eagle, a little bigger I think than the bald eagle, we have been watching a pain who live on and Island call Isla, right out into the sea, far far away from the Scotish mainlands, and we have been keeping an eye on there twins Itchy and scratchy [cos thats all they seem to do] they are 2 years old now and are wonderful to watch.
If it really is a white(featherless- scrape) left wing marking on the Jan 3 4:24 pic of the eagle in OUR nest -(there really isn't any sun shadow) THEN since we know Lib and/or Belle don't have a scrape on their left wing --- Was it a Visitor (Intruder)
The mystery will never be solved unless we see 3 eagles in our nest like WE......... NoMTBR
Ho Ho Ho!!! Back to resting & blowing my nose.....
Does anyone remember the date that there was an intruder in our nest... that eagle was moving sticks around & I do think Steve said it was an intruder...Can anyone refresh my memory? Someone may have even done a video clip... I'll need to check..
Paula was right all a long. I was hoping it was a golden eagle, just because I hadn't ever seen one. The guys at the camera store thought it was a golden eagle, too. Oh, well, it is still a very pretty bird.
Going to check out Dave's new pic's. I wonder what happened in the BWE nest. Feathers everywhere and the wing was moved.
Thanks for checking Dana I did also but can't find it... Maybe Glo has a video somewhere = I looked through Paula's but didn't find any. Well- All we need to know is that both our Lib & Belle are in our Sycamore tree in their nest....
Deb - you can go back and edit to name your photos.... I did your 1st one. Enlarge the pic & at the bottom click on EDIT. Date & time info is good or your own comment like Dana does.......
It won't let me. When I read the directions, it says that only a moderator or the person who posted the album can edit. Since you did the album, that must be why you can edit and I can't??
I don't think Anne was planning to come back until Sunday.. It is to warm up a little here during the next few days. Crazy weather! Going to have our family picture professionally taken on Sunday. Only 1 member should be missing and that is Sgt Ryan. It has been a few years since we had one done - Kids have really grown... Should be fun getting 30 smiles all at one instant! lol
Just got a news flash: At 8:50 p.m. Friday, media reports were that the man named as a "person of interest" in the case of the missing hiker has been found.Gary Michael Hilton, 61, of the Atlanta area, who was seen by other hikers at Vogel State Park as he and Meredith Emerson walked up Freeman Trail on Blood Mountain on New Year's Day. I pray she is safe somewhere.....
Glad Anne doesn't have to drive yet. I talked to my sister and not much happening at her place yet. Young buck still in Pa cam. 30 people at once, sounds like fun, Jo!!
The rains have arrived ...last evening ... and they continue at a good, steady, moderate pace.
It's supposed to be fairly heavy in other parts of So Cal, with mud and debris slides a definite possibility, but let's pray that the burn areas get just the amount of rain they can absorb and no more.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... Yes, Jim, Calif. need our prayers. It looks like another disaster is in the making. I just heard on the news that some parts of the state could get up to a foot of rain. I don't know if that was an error or not (sounds like an awful lot).

Thanks, and with all the rain coming, it will be a while for sun.
I have been a "watcher" most of the morning. Have a sinus infection and got some antibiotics from Dr yesterday. I'll be watching you!!!!
DEB---It is COOL---when they come swimming by---There is usually just 2 of them & they come right up to the window & waive!!!
I see SU LIN at the SD site?---Have you see PRECIOUS this a.m.??
Deb - they don't have as many solar panels at the TH and WE nests as they do at Santa Cruz
Morning, Jo. I hope the antibiotics take effect quickly.
OH DIVERS taking a picture of the cam. First time I've seen them all day!

I saw them AGAIN---that's what they did yesterday----Must be trouble some where!!----SORRY!
SUZ----DEB saw them the 1st time she watched them!!!----Wonder where DANA is????---
I got on at the right time. I was reading about the site and they are doing research on the health of the reef. It sounds like all diving and snorkeling is pretty restricted. You have to attend a class before you can dive.
DEB----Yes--they are checking the health of the reef---There were quite a few of them yesterday & most had camera, etc.----
More divers.
SLOTH BEAR is eating at the NZOO!!
With all the pollution in the oceans today, the reefs are dying. I hate to see that, the reefs hold a lot of marine life! Glad these guys are keeping an eye on this reef.

Thanks to all for continuing the Power Prayer for Sandra. No update as of today. Will try to make contact this evening. I just know it is helping her with all our strong thoughts of recovery going her way.
Just on to let you all know. I've also been a watcher. Only since 11:30am though. Must have needed more sleep had gone back to bed.
I too Jo feel that Sandra knows and feels the strength of our prayers.
Thank you Steven for the new thread. A thanks to whomever fixed the cam problem.

EAGLE ALERT OUR NEST
DOUBLE EAGLE ALERT - OUR NEST!
Food brought in
One left
Hi Sharon
Liberty has a fish
Oh man wouldn't you just love to be watching the live cam right now. So we could see him eating the fish.
Just seems to be sitting ontop of the fish and looking around.
There is something on the ground. To the right of the nest near the pine tree. At each refresh it moves.
It is now at the 3 o'clock position. Nearer to edge of nest but on ground near pine tree.
hee hee in this picture it is covered by Liberty's tail since he turned more to eat.
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE...
Got right on the blog this morning, so they fixed what needed to be fixed last night and early this morning.
I see Liberty is present on the nest again today...has anyone seen Belle since her long New Year's weekend??
Again today, K10 is working like a Trojan on the Santa Cruz nest, but little has been seen of the female, K26.
The skies in So Cal are leaden, and it feels like rain, but it's still dry out.
Jim
Jim Belle came into nest right after Liberty. Stayed a few seconds and left. Liberty as you see is still there and eating.
Liberty's right wing side looks ok as far as that white spot yesterday.
Ho! I think Liberty just left and Belle flew in.
Both gone and so is rest of fish. I know it wasn't finished. One of them must have it with them.
both gone
I wonder if Steven sees other eagles near out nest on the live feed. Or hears them?
Hint, hint...
I didn't figure out what was on the BWO nest when I signed on, but there is a male eagle there now.
Jim
Eagle at BWO
ZZ Chubs has climbed way up in the tree, found a comfortable spot and fallen asleep. She couldn't be healthier it looks like.
Jim
So, did anyone notice anything on the left wing of either eagle today???
Primo the moose still has his antlers this morning.
Jim
Paula to answer that question nothing on right wing or left wing of eagles.
I put pictures in album you can see that the white is not there. In one of the pics it does on that side (his left) looks alittle lighter. But no white spot.
Hi All,
This is the reply I got back from Andy at my local Raptor Centre.
It looks as if the chicklet is a baby Bald Eagle. Hope its helped,
love and hugs

Hi
It looks like a species of fish-eagle by the size of the beak.
Regards
Andy
It's raining at the Santa Cruz site, so it should be coming down here in the fairly near future.
The wind is picking up.
Jim
Cool Chrissy, thanks for passing that along!
two eagles eating at BWE
Yes Jim I see it is raining at SC
Your welcome Sharon.
I'm only here to help and serve !!!
Sky, is the daddy and Isla, the mummy
Isla is pronounced [Eyelah]
love and hugs
Chrissy

2 eagles at BWE
So neat how those two at BWE stays in nest and shares their food with each other.
Tearing into the rest of that bird wing at BWE
Paula did you check out the pics of todays visit in the album about the white spot?
If it really is a white(featherless- scrape) left wing marking on the Jan 3 4:24 pic of the eagle in OUR nest -(there really isn't any sun shadow)
THEN since we know Lib and/or Belle don't have a scrape on their left wing --- Was it a Visitor (Intruder)
The mystery will never be solved
unless we see 3 eagles in our nest like WE......... NoMTBR
Ho Ho Ho!!! Back to resting & blowing my nose.....
Does anyone remember the date that there was an intruder in our nest...
that eagle was moving sticks around & I do think Steve said it was an intruder...Can anyone refresh my
memory? Someone may have even done a video clip... I'll need to check..
Paula was right all a long. I was hoping it was a golden eagle, just because I hadn't ever seen one. The guys at the camera store thought it was a golden eagle, too. Oh, well, it is still a very pretty bird.
Going to check out Dave's new pic's. I wonder what happened in the BWE nest. Feathers everywhere and the wing was moved.
Deer with the hurt leg on PA cam.
Eagle alert, our nest.
BOTH EAGLES!!
BEAUTIFUL EAGLES, I MUST SAY!
Belle gone.
Both gone.
Just saw one bobble head at CC!!
Looks like both parents are feeding chicks - I would guess at least 2 in the nest.
Don't see any white on either eagle today...hmmmm
Jo my memory isn't always good. I checked back alittle didn't find anything. It's there somewhere though.
It was November 14th in the morning.
Thanks for checking Dana
I did also but can't find it...
Maybe Glo has a video somewhere = I looked through Paula's but didn't find any.
Well- All we need to know is that both our Lib & Belle are in our Sycamore tree in their nest....
DEB I just published and just saw your comment - You are swift!
I posted my first pictures of a visit and see I didn't rename them before doing it. Next time I will know!
OK Now that was definitely a Juvie visiting the nest on 11/14. Dana's pics captured it well. That was the time I was thinking about..
Next time I will do it right!
Young buck on the wildlife cam in PA
BBL
Thanks, Jo, for fixing my pictures.
I hope Anne is still in Santa Barbara and not back in Sacramento. It sounds like they really got hit by the storm there.
She'll be there till Sunday, I think.
Should be fun getting 30 smiles all at one instant! lol
Hello Paula!
I miss talking with Mits!!
She'll be gone until the evening of the 9th!
Our young BUCK is on the wildlife cam in PA
Young buck at PA deer cam
Wow, Jo. Good luck with the picture!
I figure all I need to do is sit in the center with Ed and wait for everyone else to find their place!!
OK Momsters! Going to close down for the evening. Hope to be here in the morning!
Good Night All
Peace to you & yours
Prayers being said for all our needs
STAY WARM
Night, Jo.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP TIGHT
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYBODY--
Keep warm and dry...
The rains have arrived ...last evening ... and they continue at a good, steady, moderate pace.
It's supposed to be fairly heavy in other parts of So Cal, with mud and debris slides a definite possibility, but let's pray that the burn areas get just the amount of rain they can absorb and no more.
Have a happy........
Jim
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
Yes, Jim, Calif. need our prayers. It looks like another disaster is in the making. I just heard on the news that some parts of the state could get up to a foot of rain. I don't know if that was an error or not (sounds like an awful lot).
EAGLE ALERT!!
Checking out the egg cup.
BOTH NOW....
Belle arranging a BIG stick.
Both just sitting there looking around. Not many restorations yet.
Lib has his head so far down in the egg cup, Belle may have to pull him out.
Still sitting there looking around.
Lib has his head way down in the egg cup again.
One gone...
Belle doing a bit of nestorations.
Both gone now. Gone Fishin....
Morning, all.
Cams quiet right now...there was an eagle at BWO, but gone now...
Tesoro was just turning eggs, CC keeping chick(s) warm.
COME ON OVER---NEW THREAD FROM STEVEN!!!
