Well, ladies, looks like our BOB has done it again. Wonderful photos; some are REALLY special, worthy of a prize. I'll bet he is very pleased with his new camera; I know I am. LOL
New camera is great but the "Old" photographer behind it makes the pictures fantastic! Way to go Bob! You really had some cooperative waterfowl and eagles out there for you. Glad you stayed until sunset - those pictures are awesome!
Hey Wanda - You asked about the eagle flying by the other eagle on the tree. That eagle was on a tree on the other side of the road. It flew across the road (which are the photos just before the tree landing) and landed in the tree with it's mate.
BOB, thanks for the explanation. In the photo it looks like the one eagle is holding the other up by its talons! Your sunset pictures are so beautiful, it looks like you ought to be able to reach out and touch the water. Good Camera, but as Jo said, Good Photographer.
We know you can feel our prayers, SANDRA. Hang in there, you will get better every day. Anything we can do for you, just tell Tom and consider it done. You know I don't live very far away.
Good Morning family, and a special good morning to Sandra. This is going to be a year of new birth, rebirth and repair. Just you wait and see. got to bed early last night. Got a kick out of Chrissy's New years wishes. She was emailing me during a party. I am going to spend the day cleaning, organizing and packing. I am going to Santa Barbara for a few days for some relaxation and TLC. We have 3 more storms headed this way from Alaska and I want out of here. The ski slopes will be happy but cold rain is not my idea of fun.
I have heard them many times and have wished you could reach into the computer and control the camera to find them. There is an eagle on the Tesora nest.
The Tesora eagle must have been taking a break from egg-sitting. I watched it fly back into the nest and sit back on the eggs. It will be fun to watch the nests where you can see the eggs. The Kent nest continues to deteriorate. You can see through it to the ground now.
I am going to be optimistic like Jo's letter said and hope she gets a new mate if something did happen to her old one. Maybe they will start a new nest, though. I hope not.
Thanks Mr Quinn, those photos are brilliant, you cleaver fella !!!
I'M IN DENIAL !!!!!
Speaking to Anne last night, I absolutley don't remember a party ??? I don't remember having a drink in my hand ??? I don't even remember posting ???
DENY DENY DENY !!!!
WHO am I kidding,,, I HAD FUN,,, so there it's out, can't tell a lie,,, WE watched the fireworks from London on the TV, then went out into our garden to light our fireworks,,,, with a drink in our hands,,OFCOURSE !!! and a good time was had by all.
I hope all your wishes come true this 2008, and that we can with our prayers help Sandra to an full and speedy recovery to.
Anne I think you mean Northumberland, over here we call it "Jordie", land they have a wonderful twangy accent, and The Lake District, WELL what can I say pet, its just beautiful, they [the lakes] used to be my old stomping ground in my younger days CAMPINGS NEVER BEEN THE SAME SINCE ???? Now don't take that the wrong way,,will you !!! Tell me more and I can get info for you if you like girl ???
Lisa, has an upate and pic of eagles at BWE eating a meal, and she said the is a good sign, when they eat a meal at the nest where they want to lay eggs. so ours have eaten several meals at the NCTC nest:):)
Finished food, But I'm going to go now as there is a prog on TV I want to wat and it doesnt finish untill 11pm. Then its bed for me, perhaps tonight I just might get some sleep, last night I was worried about Frank, he has his cluster headaches back and he isn't to well, but tonight he is back at work and it will give me chance to rest ??? it's 8.30pm now and have to tidy up the kitchen before I can settle and watch my prog.
Oh well, that was some excitement for a minute or two. It looks like it is starting to snowflake on the Pa cam. Every once in awhile, a white streak goes down the pic.
I spent my afternoon watching a National Hockey League being played in an outside arena that was set up on the Buffalo Sabers stadium. It was neat; snowing when it started and again when it was ending. They had to have a shootout as it ended in a tie score. The Pitt Penguins finally won the game.
After reading Lisa's message on the BW site, it seems like that nest is about to be used. Now if someone could get a good look see at our Liberty and Belle.........
Here I am setting the table & missing the nest visit! Glad you all were watching & thanks for the pics Mits..I'll try to find room on Momsters' for them in awhile. Going to eat & then I'll be back.
Those white streaks are crazy looking on the PixController in PA. I can see snow on the Bluefield cam..
What kind of new camera did you get? I was looking for the notes at the bottom of the page of photos, but I didn't find anything this time. The old one was not bad at all, so what are the improved features on your new one?
Jim - I went from a Canon 20D to a Canon 40D. The big differences are higher resolution, faster frame rate and more accurate focusing system. My main objective is to get a higher rate of "keepers". The photos in todays gallery were the result of over 400 shots. You gotta love digital. That would have cost me a fortune on film.
BOB Have to tell you that I finally got to look at your BW pics and they as usual were awesome. You just capture nature at it's best. Thanks for sharing them with us.
We have Pea Island down here at the Outer Banks where the birds all migrate into. I have only been there once with a PE teacher that used to work at my school. It was amazing all the different birds that are there. I have never been since, but have always wanted to take another look see. Maybe when I retire.
Yes PAULA, wasn't that hockey game something. I have been interested in hockey since we could only get it on the radio years ago up north when the Rangers were the local team. I have never seen it outdoors before, but it is said it happened once before years ago. It was snowing pretty good when the game started, stopped and then was snowing good when it finished with a shoot out. Yeah! Penguins win! I just loved it; snow, huge crowd and the game.
MITS Do you have a photobucket account where you can get and store images like Paula suggested. If you don't, you need to set yourself up an account. It's free. Then you would be able to change your pics too. Paula told Wanda and I the trick to it and we can do it now. Nothing to it. I had a Photobucket account already, but just couldn't transfer pics until I read what Paula told us.
Candy - There's lots of great photo ops in the Outer Banks, wish I could get back there soon. I love the brown pelicans. I used to stay on Hatteras, right near the ferry. Here's a couple of shots from back in my film days:
no Candy, I don't have an account, will have to set one up one day when I have time....HELLO MEGAN, how was your Christmas???? Know your hubby like my son is very happy about the Redskins.
Hi Candy, Mits and Bob. Thanks for sharing some more pics, the ones you posted this morning were beautiful. I really love the heron shots, they look like such a reagl bird, gorgeous plumage. And of course I love all the eagles shots. Got to get myself down to BW again this year.
Hubby was of course thrilled with Skins game. Especially sweet since they beat Dallas. Sorry Norma:) He wore a Dallas sucks shirt all day yesterday. Really with the season Wash. has had, any win is good. Big surprise to see Ravens fired their coach. I beleive he walks away with 15 million payoff. boo-hoo.
wasn't too surprised to see our coach go, yes, his contract stipulates, 5 million each year til 2010, unless he gets another job, then it decreases some, because they don't let them double-dip, but at that money I would sit on my butt till 2011 or the rest of my life.....
I'm with you MITS. I keep wondering if I picked the wrong job to do for a lifetime. Between the athletes and their coaches and owners, there are a gazillion people out there who are set for life if they handle it the right way. Sometimes, I think it is a little bit too much.
Megan Would you believe that we still have geraniums, vincas and begonias out in our yard yet? It is hard to feel like it is winter yet. We should be getting our cold snap any day now tho. In the spring it takes us longer to have plants bloom as we are then by the cooler water. My camelias are about ready to pop. I just love flowers.
OH, Candy I have that career ( or lack of one) conversation with myself evryday.. For sure I'd be sitting on a beach with 5 million a year. Right now the only thing blooming here is a salvia in my GH. Looking at seed catalogs today...dreaming...
I leave in the morning for Pismo . I will stay with my daughters in laws. We share a beautiful child. They are such gracious people. they are both doctors and this is their only grand child.
Thanks I am taking my camera to see if I can get any pictures of the juvie that has been hanging around. There must be a game on no one is here but you and me so I will shower and rest. thanks Mits for being there. Your the greatest..
Love 'em all, Bob. Outer Banks, Kitties and Bermuda....makes me want to go look at my VI pics again....but too tired tonight...stayed up to late...ate too much dinner tonight...gonna hit the hay for tonight...
JO, don't you know why the ROBOPANDA isn't on anymore? I bought them all; Paula showed us the article about them becoming extinct, so I bought them all while they were still in stock. You should be getting yours any day now.
Thanks a lot for the camera info, Bob. If the 40D is that big of an improvement, we should be in for some world class winners soon ... although as I said before, I think your stuff is tops now.
What were the camera and film you used on the 35 mm shots. Also very good, but not as clear ... don't know if it was focus or film grain though.
You're already a pro, I guess, since some of us have bought your art shots, but I wish you the best with your photographic pursuits, Bob.
Bob, I guess I should say that I have been in to photography with a Leica R4s, which I bought in '84, I believe.
Leica makes some of the best lenses in the world, and I just love the outfit, largely because of them. So I am loathe to convert to digital, although I see many of the advantages.
I saw recently that Panasonic and Leica have developed similar models of digital cameras together, and you can get Panasonic cameras with Leica lenses and Leica cameras with Panasonic electronics.
I haven't had so much time to practice the art recently, but now that I'm semi-retired, I should get back into it.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... SUZ must be snowed in. We are predicted snow showers of less than an inch and 32°. It is 24° right now and no snow yet. Glad Suz doesn't try to drive to work in bad weather...one less worry for us.
There is a fairly good cover of snow on the ground on the Pa. cam and Sharon's Bluefield has a layer of snow. She was hoping for snow, now she has it. ENJOY the beauty of it Sharon.
I am so glad the Holidays are over. It has been way too hectic. 24 days and counting until my last day at work. Had to work last night - one bartender had someone call in for her - I wouldn't ask one to cover because she already had been for 3 shifts in a row - one couldn't find a sitter (which is why the other onj had worked for 3 shifts!)
Looked on monster.com yesterday for another job - there were a few possibilities. I was going to did my resume' out last night - but had to work...
Officer participation. That's why they are officers and suppposed to be in charge. I can't do the job of the bartenders, cook, social quarters mgr, adm asst, administrator and the officers. Oh not to mention the work of a member. It's crazy and out of control.
Don't get me started on the Non Profit Org thing. What few active members we have just want to come in a expect cold beer. They all forget about the real purpose of the organization.
I hope you get the help that you need and can stay there, because I know you like it there. It is hard to leave a job that you have had for so many years. Time for you to go to work??
No one. In all honesty. Tommy is leaving the day before me. (no real loss there) But he is the administrator and it is HIS job.... hence why I am leaving. He has just had the title and let me do all of the work. (which I have lapsed in because I am covering for everyone else)It will close up unless someone notifies International and they get someone in there. But I think they will just dissolve the lodge and chapter. It's so sad. I cry everytime I think of it.
Lib & Belle are sleeping in this morning. Wish they would come so I could get my coffee. Maybe if I leave they will come. Let's see, how does Mits do it?....I'M LEAVING NOW FOR A CUP OF COFFEE!!
Yes, the thought of a good organization, such as that, closing is a sad situation. All those years of you trying to make it successful would be wasted. I see a BIG meeting on the horizon.
3 of the 9 officers are trying to make things happen. I've tried to get them to sell for years because we don't need so much property and buildings. The overhead is awful. They are seriously working on it now. One donated a rather large check to help pay some bills. One came in and bought me dinner last night because I had to cover the bar. Another one brought me dinner...But it may be too late. We'll see. You know that I'll hang on if I can.

Thanks for the New Years thread, Steve!
Well, ladies, looks like our BOB has done it again. Wonderful photos; some are REALLY special, worthy of a prize. I'll bet he is very pleased with his new camera; I know I am. LOL
OK, Paula, that is good to know. I thought maybe we each had a limit to how many we were supposed to post. Thank you.
New camera is great but the "Old" photographer behind it makes the pictures fantastic! Way to go Bob!
You really had some cooperative waterfowl and eagles out there for you. Glad you stayed until sunset - those pictures are awesome!
Thanks all who joined in on the Power Prayer!
Hey Wanda - You asked about the eagle flying by the other eagle on the tree. That eagle was on a tree on the other side of the road. It flew across the road (which are the photos just before the tree landing) and landed in the tree with it's mate.
Lisa has very interesting comment on the BWE web page about "eating in the nest".
Looks like some new grasses (fluff) in our nest!
Gorgeous Pics, Bob!

BOB, thanks for the explanation. In the photo it looks like the one eagle is holding the other up by its talons! Your sunset pictures are so beautiful, it looks like you ought to be able to reach out and touch the water. Good Camera, but as Jo said, Good Photographer.

Eagle in the Maine tree, my first time to see one there!
Happy New Year to everyone! Bob, those are great pictures. I really want to get a new camera and have been looking, but haven't decided yet.
Thanks, Deb. Isn't s/he gorgeous!
Yes, it is. After hearing the eagles on this site for so long, it is nice to see one!
Both eagles at Maine
Two eagles now in the Maine nest!
How fun to see them working on the nest in the snow!
Anne, I took a break from the cold for a week and wish it could have been longer. It is cold today with the wind chill!
What a thrill, I cant get live cam from work and I have never heard them before.
I have lived on that coast and I know how cold that wind is. They are so beautifu
I have heard them many times and have wished you could reach into the computer and control the camera to find them. There is an eagle on the Tesora nest.
I missed the both of them, but one is still in Maine.
Deb - did you know Cape Coral has Chick(s)
The Tesora eagle must have been taking a break from egg-sitting. I watched it fly back into the nest and sit back on the eggs. It will be fun to watch the nests where you can see the eggs. The Kent nest continues to deteriorate. You can see through it to the ground now.
Yes, I got to see a feeding one day this past week. Can't wait to see the heads pop up!
Maine eagle just left.
Maine eagle back!!
Maine eagle gone and back just as fast and gone again!
Gone again.
They are both hovering in the limb to the right. I have never seen her hollowing out the egg cup in the snow before.
We will have to see if they return at Kent....
I am going to see if I can get CC. I have never seen that nest before either. I cant get it from work and by the time I get home its dark.
Paula I'm not holding my breath on the Kent nest. It doesnt look very good.
It is a beautiful shot of the nest. Too bad we can't see into the nest, also.
Anne - the eagles in Maine left to the right...I don't see them on the limb...
I am going to be optimistic like Jo's letter said and hope she gets a new mate if something did happen to her old one. Maybe they will start a new nest, though. I hope not.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE
Thanks Mr Quinn, those photos are brilliant, you cleaver fella !!!

More really great photos, Bob.

Mits: I am glad to see Tai back on your picture!! I missed him.
I really missed him too, going to have to take my camera to zoo one day to get a close up, or let one of the keepers get a close up for me
5 deer at PA
MITS I sent you an email to see if you could get the panda photo. I'm going to use this beautirul flying eagle for a few days.

I got it Candy, but, I can't change my pics, my good buddy, Sharon changes them for me, but I will learn someday this year, thanks anyhow
Candy - I saw part of that hockey game too...I didn't realize it was outside till it started snowing!
BOB Have to tell you that I finally got to look at your BW pics and they as usual were awesome. You just capture nature at it's best. Thanks for sharing them with us.

It probably is, it's still really gusting here too. Raccoon is back.
Racoon is back in Pa. and heading for the back woods
He is a chunky little guy. Must be getting something good to eat.
Hi Megan. I wish he would stay in one spot so we could watch for awhile. He is in and out, up and down.

WOW! RoboPanda has disappeared!!!
Good morning early birds.......
JO, don't you know why the ROBOPANDA isn't on anymore? I bought them all; Paula showed us the article about them becoming extinct, so I bought them all while they were still in stock. You should be getting yours any day now.
GOOD NIGHT TO EVERYONE
SLEEP WELL
Thanks a lot for the camera info, Bob.
Jim
Bob, I guess I should say that I have been in to photography with a Leica R4s, which I bought in '84, I believe.
Leica makes some of the best lenses in the world, and I just love the outfit, largely because of them. So I am loathe to convert to digital, although I see many of the advantages.
I saw recently that Panasonic and Leica have developed similar models of digital cameras together, and you can get Panasonic cameras with Leica lenses and Leica cameras with Panasonic electronics.
I haven't had so much time to practice the art recently, but now that I'm semi-retired, I should get back into it.
Jim
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYONE/GOOD MORNING TO A PROMISING NEW YEAR FOR 2008.
God bless you.
Jim
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
SUZ must be snowed in. We are predicted snow showers of less than an inch and 32°. It is 24° right now and no snow yet.
Glad Suz doesn't try to drive to work in bad weather...one less worry for us.
There is a fairly good cover of snow on the ground on the Pa. cam and Sharon's Bluefield has a layer of snow. She was hoping for snow, now she has it. ENJOY the beauty of it Sharon.
Good Morning,
20 and snowing here (just a little). Bbrrr.
Happy Anniversary to Costume Lady and Capt Eagle!!!!
GOOD MORNING MY KARLA...
What a nice surprise; thank you. Daddy's not up yet, so you are the first with anniversary wishes.
Karla, don't forget to wear your coat with the hood, you might need it. LOL
Oh, and your boots too.
Is Dustin back to school today?
I am so glad the Holidays are over. It has been way too hectic. 24 days and counting until my last day at work. Had to work last night - one bartender had someone call in for her - I wouldn't ask one to cover because she already had been for 3 shifts in a row - one couldn't find a sitter (which is why the other onj had worked for 3 shifts!)
Looked on monster.com yesterday for another job - there were a few possibilities. I was going to did my resume' out last night - but had to work...
Got me covered! Dustin goes back to school tomorrow. I have to pick him up from his dad's this AM. I couldn't get him last night.
You really are serious, aren't you? What would it take for you to stay at the Lodge?
Officer participation. That's why they are officers and suppposed to be in charge. I can't do the job of the bartenders, cook, social quarters mgr, adm asst, administrator and the officers. Oh not to mention the work of a member. It's crazy and out of control.
Don't get me started on the Non Profit Org thing. What few active members we have just want to come in a expect cold beer. They all forget about the real purpose of the organization.
I hope you get the help that you need and can stay there, because I know you like it there. It is hard to leave a job that you have had for so many years.
Time for you to go to work??
Who on earth would they get to replace you?
No real hurry this morning. Have to get Dust (no school). But no deliveries until 9:30. Hey what are they going to do "fire me"?! LOL!
Don't worry about another job; The Lord will provide.
I would say "This Too Shall Pass", but that is not one of your favorites, is it?
OK...I am REALLY leaving for coffee now. BB
Mits - I love your picture of Tai. They are all so "prescious" aren't they?
Well, where is everyone?
EAGLE ALERT!!!!!
THANKS, KARLA,,,,EAGLES IN THE NEST AND NEW THREAD....
