SLOTH BEAR at NZOO is out eating one of the dirt pillars---Bugs are hidden in the pillar!!---One reason why they need their teeth brushed often!!-----WHOA---this is fun to watch!!
GOOD SUNDAY A.M. EVERYONE Was catching up on blogs and e-mails, was too tired to come on last night...what a day, my polar bear was in the noon plunge, they had a second plunge at 1 (extra one) and the final plunge at 3....it was awesome, and Maggies Mounties (MOUNT ST MARY'S UNIVERSITY) did really well. Originally our son was going to do this on his own, but when his friends at The Mount found out many wanted to join him or pledge, what a great group. Thanks, everyone who tried to see coverage or pledge. It was a very emotional day. For all my Maryland friends, my sister and I gave our taxing maniac Govenor a Huge BOO, when he appeared on the stage, but then, so did everyone else...some people wanted to DUNK him, but I held on to my sister, so she would not get arrested, she had this guy for a Mayor also, but ...I noticed I have some pics from my sister-in-law...will send to Paula or Jo and maybe put on the momster site for awhile...got to finish reading todays' post and get ready for church..sorry this is sooo long.
Good Morning Mits Glad some decided to join in with your son. Happy it went so well for you all. Now I am very glad you held onto your sisters arm lol. Don't need to use money to get her out of jail......hee hee Mits you describe things so great. ty
HELEN---What a delight to hear from you this a.m.----Bet you are "worn out"---How COLD was it?-----We saw it on a couple news broadcasts!--Any time a politican is present--take ear plugs!!!---They think people are there to hear them!! ho!---But I bet it was fun to watch your son!---DIDN'T YOU FEEL PROUD!!!!!!---I am proud of you!!!
I saw "FLOCKE" the POLAR BEAR BABY that was abandoned by her mother---on TV last!!!---She is almost as ADORABLE as PRECIOUS!!---She was so playful!!---They don't seem to be keeping her page up to date!!!
Almost looks like 2 hummer babies but I don't know for sure.
I was checking out the Monterey Bay cam because Anne said at 12 noon EST she would be at the outer bay rock area and wave to us. I can't find where it is showing that cam anymore. Can anyone?
Good morning, all. I wanted to get that on quick, as all of a sudden I saw divers, but not quick enough. I have been enjoying Sunday morning and thought I should get on to see what was happening. I found that picture of the two hummers through the website. If you look close, you can see two orange beaks!
The only Monterey rock cam I could find would mean the Anne would have to wade out to the rocks to wave at us!! That shot is on the Monterey Bay Aquarium site.
Deb that is the only one I could find also. When we were watching during the warmer weather there was another one but it's not there now. Don't think Anne knew that eekss
Both CLOUDED LEOPARDS at NZOO are outside sunning themselves---They are such handsome sleek animals---But I think their really really long tails looks like a snake!!---A very LONG SNAKE!! ho!
PAULA---I forwarded the old HUMMING BIRD pic that DEB sent yesterday to DANA!!---After talking with GRANNYBLT today---I understand she saw both had hatched!!!
Thank you DANA---You are so very intelligent!!---You used your head---- I thought she told me Sunday---but I am getting everything wrong today!!---So IGNORE me!!---ho!
Well Sunday was mentioned in Anne's email. I got mixed up too...maybe it was good we did get mixed up thinking it was today. Now we have things straight for tomorrow (wink) .
DEB---Watching the HUMMING BIRD feed her two chicks---brought tears of joy!!---UNBELIVEABLE the way that little "open beak" grabbed mother's beak & held on!!--If you haven't seen it---you must!! LIFE IS GOOD!!
DANA---How exciting---ENJOY your new grandson---Has he been named yet!!---My neighbor has a son named "DANA"---ho!---I haven't gotten those two up either!!---Early morning #1 came up---but I didn't think it was live!!
HEY THERE NORMA, DANA, DEB. JO, PAULA, BRANNYBLT, SHARON, MITS, WANDA AND ANYONE ELSE i MISSED.
Back from church and breakfast.
DANA Try CC1 now. I think I have it up if it is the one where the branch curves over the nest.
Mits Saw the Polar Bears go in the ocean at Baltimore on the CNN news this morning. It is hard to believe that they can do that, as I was freezing just going to church.
Saw the video of the parent feeding the two hummers. Yes it is amazing to think how fast they grow and fledge.
Also saw the BWE egg. When I came on earlier before catching up on the blog, there it was staring right at me. Maybe tomorrow she'll lay another one. Wished I wasn't working.
NORMA wastched your WV basketball game and it was a nail biter. I was cheering for them, but that made no difference.
back from church...Candy, the Polar Bear Plunge was in the Chesapeake Bay, but it was still very cold water...everyone looked purple and red when they came out...God love em that participated.
Just back from my Panda Nap! I see LIB in our nest again... I expect to see an eagle in the nest each time I sign into BWE - but Lib is surprising me by being there each time I tune in.
Here's the info - I am getting ready to put up a poll for this year's dates.
First Year 2004 - First Egg Feb 14 - 2 Eaglets successfully hatched and fledged.
Second Year 2005 - First Egg Feb 15 - 1 Eaglet successfully hatched and fledged.
Third Year 2006 - Eggs Laid Feb 9, 11 & 15 - 3 Eaglets successfully hatched and fledged. (First season for the cam).
Fourth Year - 2 eggs were in the nest by Feb 9th. She may have been sitting on an egg as early as Feb 6th. We aren't positive because the cam was down. Third egg laid Feb 12th. No hatching this season, probably due to the late inclement weather.
Thanks for the info on the eggs, Paula. This time I saved it to "documents."
My original question related to whether the mating you saw would likely lead to egg laying...I guess it's possible, since they seem to be laying earlier each year.
I don't know if they've changed the timer on BWE cam, but I checked it shortly after 3 a.m., and it was working like a champ ... the Lady of the territory was in perfect condition and warming the egg as expected.
I checked Pete's Pond, and there's a troop of long-nosed monkeys or short-nosed baboons there today.
Good morning, world! Congratulations Lord and Lady BW on your first egg! I'm thrilled!! First local egg of the season! Had to check out the photos in the Eagle Gallery to see the proud parents and the egg. Awesome. Maybe she'll lay #2 today. Not so bad out, 28° in PA, 36° here in VA. No wind, so really not bad out. Have to see what I missed, besides our first egg. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Just opened my Wildwatch cams, opened to the burrowing owl. You can only see the hole, everything is COVERED with snow! Hope they're inside warm and snug! One owl in the hotel at the moment. And they have changed the PA cam, I like it! Opens to a really large pic. Will be neat to see when all those gigantic turkeys show up!
Lady BW is sound asleep, head on back. Monkey's on Africam, one parent has a baby hanging on her tail, with 2 older silbings following. Some are climbing trees. Impapa standing around eating while the monkeys climb. Cool.
Lady BW just got up and moved off her one egg. Thank you for showing it to me, Lady BW! She is moving around the nest. Our nest MT. Oh, Lady BW just left! Our egg is all alone.
Good Morning Suzanne, and wvgal dana. The weather this morning isn't to bad.I had a great day on Saturday watching eagles and meeting the people from the American Eagle Foundation and watching there program on birds of pray, they had some Owls, hawks and a golden eagle, and to top that off they had a BALD EAGLE named America.I got to have my photo taken with him with his handler and that was just awsome.I will post photos later today. My flash wasn't working to good and some of the photos inside arn't to good. I will be back on here later sence i have to do some work before classes start.
Good morning, Dave! Sounds like you had an awesome weekend! Wow, can't wait to see your pics. I have never seen a Golden Eagle in the feather, so to speak. Would love to! Are they much bigger than a bald eagle? I've read they are bigger, but don't know how much bigger. Oh, I am so jealous!!! That would be so cool.
I think there may be an eagle at the Maine nest, but it's so dark can't really tell. Kind of looks like a white head standing on the side of the nest. Actually looks like a big blob of leaves, but with a white head. Who knows?
GOOD MORNING SUZ AND DAVE... Isn't it exciting, Suz, to have our first local egg? I wonder if the eagle "America", that Dave was speaking of is the one that does fly-overs for special events. We had one fly-over at the Mountaineers football game.
Oh, I read about that Wanda! The fly over I mean. Awesome! Wonder if it was the same one. That would be so neat to see! Oh, good morning! And yes, our first local egg!!! She got up a while ago, still only 1. Maybe she'll lay number 2 today.
That group or blob of leaves turned out to be a blob of leaves on a branch. No eagle.

Don't particularly like the way she loves the SIDE of that nest! I remember last year how we always thought the one little eaglet would fall out! lol

Monkey's on Africam, one parent has a baby hanging on her tail, with 2 older silbings following. Some are climbing trees. Impapa standing around eating while the monkeys climb. Cool.
Lady BW is awake and looking around, but still on her egg.
Isn't today the day that Anne- Marie waives to the cam at the Monterey Bay at noon? You'll have to watch for her. Anybody have the URL to that cam?
Lady BW just got up and moved off her one egg. Thank you for showing it to me, Lady BW! She is moving around the nest.

Indiana Nesting Eagles----Dave
Dave, look forward to your photos.
The temperature here in Martinsburg/Shepherdstown is 32°, going up to 44°. Tomorrow will be 49°...a HEAT WAVE!!
No eagle.
