good morning all.
HODA: So sorry to hear of the loss of a friend....

but on the other hand...chuckled ... coaching on the ski slopes! lol.

weather was great over the weekend. we are caught up. things are prepped for cooler weather. yard looks good again. the only thing we have to do is cover the RV. we have a cover ordered. it will be here in a couple of weeks.

likingthe automatic pool pump we bought. it is doing a good job keeping the water off of the top of the pool.

"cold" weather heading our way. last dayin the 70's....20's by night and 40's by day later in the week.

going to a home school gathering today. if the trees could sing. it sounds pretty interesting. we will meet at centennial park and take a tablet or phone with us. we will hook into some program and then go to certain trees, 18 I believe, and as we get to each tree, a local country artist will appear on the device and sing about said tree...like types of trees, maple, etc.

i'll let you know. sounds fun to me.

(of course it does)

will check in later!

hugs and love to all. make it a super day!

Good morning to all ♥
Janet - program sounds unique and interesting.
Hoda - I am sorry to hear about your friend - I feel certain all your Dragon Ladies will remember her life.
Lolly - when bil goes down to home in FL in NOV my sil always puts the tree up for when they come back up for the holidays. Smart idea since they only stay for a short time.
PAULA - I did see the video from the wedding presenting the wedding party and I loved it. I also saw some photos on one of their friends page. So happy for them and that the wedding was such fun.
Sandi - I saw your count down for the days of school left in 2014!
Judy - thanks for jumping into the split...... lol

Good morning! Roast is cooking in the crock pot, now going to do some Lollypaloozing before going to the dentist this afternoon.

Loved the video of the wedding! Love weddings and receptions. Love all the fun! And, to think we had a cake and punch reception in the church parlor. Receptions are much more fun now! Need a close up picture of you Paula in your dress. Blue, right?

Going to put the cam up, but then starting to move around the house doing what I gotta do!

Have a great Monday!

Good morning - well, not so good really.

Audrey and Grace left us this morning for a foster home in Purcellville. We are sad.

Hoda, very sorry about the death of your dragon boater but I know you and her friends will celebrate her life with grace and joy and dignity.

Paula, so happy the wedding was such a lovely event. May they enjoy their honeymoon and many years of happiness.

Janet, enjoy the home school gathering. Singing trees. Interesting concept for learning.

Thinking of Jo today, of course.

Adventures of bread baking this morning

I made bread last week using my Vitamix to mix the dough for a one loaf recipe. It worked well except the clean up was a pain, so decided to make my two loaf recipe using the stand mixer. All seemed to go well until I couldn't remove the bowl from the stand. Of course I was trying to force it in the wrong direction. Finally the light dawned and all was well. After I had it ready to rise, I remembered that I forgot to add the salt. I kneaded some in by hand sprinkling some salt as I folded it over. I should have just started over. We will see.

Hoda said...

Sending LOVE and LIGHT to JO.

Glad the cats get a foster home JUDIE.
Understand your sadness.

Plans have changed. Friends are sick and we will not travel to the next town.
I will distribute posters for the Grans event in December.
Will go to yoga and attend an AGM for The Kootenay Spirit Festival.

Beautiful cold day here and we have blue skies. Not a moment to waste in doors today...

I went today for my CT abdomen and pelvis and it turns out, he had ordered a CT angiogram and the CT abdomen and pelvis. They did the angio today and I go back Thursday for the other. Unless this shows something that is causing my hip pain, I am set for December 2 for hip replacement. UGH!

Mema Jo said...

I have returned from being Zapped

Granddaughter and family have House
Dedication tomorrow at 4pm. Impossible for me to attend but she promises to get me down there in the future.

Hoda - you seem to always find things to be done! Keeps you busy!

Judy I had resent the email this morning from Friday's email. They thanked me for doing that reminder.

Lynne - I could eat saltless bread!
Bread baking smells so appetizing.

Mema Jo said...

Sharon - resolve yourself that the hip replacement is going to happen!
And then NO MORE PAIN! Prayers for you.

Janet said...

good afternoon.

beautiful day. was a nice walk in the park. the trees had this sign on them with a Q code. you scanned it with your phone or mobile device and the artist did sing a little, but also told you about the tree...we saw Osage Orange, Red Maple, Bald Cypress, Blue Spruce, Hackberry among others. All native to this area. One of the artists was Reba McEntyre. Others were local artists, celebraties.

Sigh. I think the most difficult part of raising Olivia...is....her lack of enthusiasm about ANYTHING! it wears me out sometimes, and right now, this is one of those times.

JUDIE: so sorry that the kitties have gone to another home. hugs to you my friend.

I put my bird feeder out. gonna wait a couple more weeks for the peanut filled feeder.

getting ready to take Dax to meet Dr. K.

have a super afternoon.

stronghunter said...

Good afternoon,

Hang in there, Janet. I know what you mean about the lack of enthusiasm. It seems to be a way of showing you their independence. It does get to you, though.

stronghunter said...

Sorry about the sadness, Judie. Are you still planning to find other kitties?

I'm pretty tired this afternoon. I bowled 5 practice games today and used up lots of my energy.

Will have to check the wedding pictures on FB. Also, still need to check the live cam. Right now, I really need to rest a bit before putting dinner together.

So sorry about your dragon boat friend, Hoda.

back from the vet.

First, thank you Stronghunter. I needed to hear that. I try not to dwell on it, but it makes me sad.

New about Dax. Per Dr. K, he is NOT 10 months old, but more like 18 months old. That is fine by me, less puppy to deal with. It also means he is as big as he is going to get. Will likely gain a little weight. He weighed in at 6. 76 pounds.

So he had some injections and next will be neutering...

Put straw around my roses and my fig tree. I piddled outside for a bit, just to be out there. now to cook some dinner, feed all the furbutts and then, a quiet evening...I hope.

Mema Jo said...

Hoda - Yes indeed I had ice cream cone afterwards - My mouth gets so
dry so I figure ice cream is the best to have.

I missed the eagles but TY Judy for the photos.

Not much on TV this evening... Hubby likes the Blacklist but I have yet to watch it.

I did purchase my Christmas cards but haven't run off any labels yet..

Hi Jo. You sure go to extremes to justify an ice cream cone. lol Many blessings on the granddaughter's new home. Is this the Ft. Bragg family?

Shar, I'm sure all will go perfectly well with any surgery. Positive thoughts.

Shirley, so happy you were able to get so many practice games in today. Next thing we know, you'll be on Bowling for Dollars.

Going to say goodnight early tonight. Not feeling very social.

Sandperson will be on the way later. Restful sleep for all.

Good Evening Eagle Buds.
The Monday Night Football game was starting awhile ago and one of the teams is Philadelphia Eagles! You guessed it~~~during Star Spangled Banner, Challenger (I guess) flew across the field!!!

Judy, so sorry you had to give up your kitties. Maybe you can foster others or we have a few that need a good home!!!Need socialization. Our Vet called today. He's had the dear sweet BW (Black & White)for about 3 weeks. They did blood work which was all OK, have tried everything and he still can't walk, so it's time for Rainbow Bridge. I just hate it. He was the first outside kitten from a year ago to come up and made friends with us. His sister, Lippy, followed suit. What is so ironic is last week when I came home from work, Fubby said we have a visitor! Turned out to be a small orange and white little boy cat. He has a collar, meows at you, wants petting and to sit in your lap!!!Lord knows where his home is and how he got here. I'll ask Vet to see if he has a chip. I can't imagine anyone dumping him.

Jo, I hope your zapping isn't too terrible.
Sharon, best wishes on your health problem. If it comes to surgery, remember the old Nike slogan or hang it on your wall~~"Just Do It!"
Hoda, so sorry to hear of your Dragon lady.

I've been real busy designing extra edges for new valance.Living room valance is about 6" too short on sides. The company was selling the drapery fabric by the yard!!! Hooray. It came today! Am sewing up the end pieces. The trick part will be attaching them to the end of valance. Can't sew all the way up, or the curtain rod holes will be closed! I may have to blind stitch by hand the top loop sections.
Well, tomorrow is another day!
Good Health Prayers for ALL &
Pleasant Feather Dreams ;>)

Mema Jo said...

Loretta - sounds like you have a good project at the sewing machine!
My zapping is painless - Sorry about BW - you have made a wise decision but I know how sad it makes you feel. Hope you find the owner of the new little one - if not - he is yours!

Lolly said...

Howdeeeeeee! Glad your day went well, Jo! Hope they all do this week!

Judie, I do hope you get another kitten. Just be sure to hold said kittèn. Friend told me yesterday she went with daughter and granddaughter to the pet store to get something. Decided to look at the rescue kitties. Well, one kitty was not so cute, did not want to play....it wanted to be held and it purred and purred. Guess who left with a new kitty!

Artic front arrives after midnight. Right now it is 65 and we have the house open. Listening to wind chimes. Today the wind blew from the south something fierce!! It rained pecans! Beginning to think this is our best year ever. Jack started shelling tonight!

Sandi, it is so funny! Laurel is burning her snow candles. She put a pic on Facebook and the comments are hilarious. One person put on a pic of her candle....sun and sand! Lol

Ok,Jack is telling me it is bed time.

Night all! SED!

Hoda said...

Well a little bit more excitement than I cared for tonight.
Went to yoga. It was nice weather and I was in shoes.
From there went to my Kootenay Spirit Festival Meeting.
Heavy snow while I was driving.
OK I can handle this!
Got there in one piece.
It started to blow a gale force wind.
Hail!
Sleet!
Ice!
Glad I took my poles from the car. The shoes are useless in these weather conditions.
Meeting was good.
Drove home very carefully.
Got here in one piece and felt gratitude.
First drive of the season on a sheet of ice!
OK got that in under my belt!
Parked the car and got into my flat!
EXPLOSION!
Very Loud!
Power goes!
Sparks fly!
Fire!
Not wanting to deal with this!
I am dealing with this.
What is going on.
I need to understand!
People outside milling!
Don't like that!
I see where a tree is leaned on a transformer.
This is the explosion.
This is the fire.
Hydro arrives. The electric company assesses the situation. Fire engine arrives.
Truck with bucket arrives.
Other trucks too.
They saw down the tree in sections after they secured the area.
They put out the fire on the tree and stop it from spreading. They check the power lines.
The fire crew gives the all clear.
Hydro trucks leave.
They restore electricity.
From the loud explosion to restored power took 20 minutes!
THANK YOU FIRST RESPONDERS.

Now I can not sleep.

Judie, I am sorry for the sadness that you're feeling in your kitty-less house. Stay strong - Audrey and Grace will find another home and now you are free to find the perfect cat(s) for you.

Loretta, sorry to hear that your black and white cat didn't recover. We can't rescue them all, but it would be nice to be able to.

Jo, I pray that your treatment "hits the spot" today. Is your gray kitty still visiting?

Janet, I only had adolescent boys and they were hard enough to deal with. But 18 years of teaching middle school has proven to me that adolescent girls are far worse. I have found that often, middle schoolers are more interested than you think - they just refuse to let the adults around them know it.

Shar, I say it's about time to get that hip taken care of. Ultimately, you'll be so glad you did.

Our 2 eagles are still in the nest.

We have workers coming today to remove the oak valances above and below the cabinets and install the dark maple ones that match the new door/drawer fronts. The job should be almost finished by the end of the day.

Have agreat day all

Good Morning Eagle Buds !!!

WANDA, like the others my heart sunk upon reading of GG's grand promotion. We loved the way you shared her with us---so many delightful stories, including the time she tried to tell you she'd not been outdoors in the ice and snow, but footprints to the mailbox gave her away. She had an impish side to her that I dearly loved! Thinking of the whole family as her life is celebrated with the usual Wright touches.XXXOOO

JUDIE, here's hoping Audrey and Grace have landed in the right spot for them. And, here's hoping you can now zero in on that special cat(s) you're looking for! That will bring you out of you sadness over the girls who just weren't a good fit for you and Darth.

LORETTA, you did your best for the dear BW---the way you care for wild and domestic animals is impressive! Hope the little visitor who came to cheer you as you returned from the Vet visit is either reunited with a loving family or becomes a member of your menagerie! Either way it is one lucky kitty!

SHAR, as with all older seniors I know a number of artificial hip recipients, ages 50-80+ and all with happy stories to tell. It's one of the easiest of orthopedic procedures, with a shorter rehab and healing time than others, too. Prayers!!!

HODA, sorry to hear you've lost a friend.♥ Pleased to know you suffered nothing buy a brief power outage due to that transformer "explosion". Impressive work by those responders---20 minutes---unheard of in these parts where it would have been more like 2 hours!

Had a great visit with Eileen and Bill--Julie and I saw them off after a hearty breakfast here this morning. We had a nice blend of outings, good meals, physical exercise, game playing... Bill cleaned my deck and finished putting the outdoor furniture in storage as well as repairing the stepping stone path that leads to the front porch of my building. Something the association should have done long ago, but there are always those things that one owner or another takes care of for the group. The "kids" thought the approach an unsafe one for me to negotiate once the snow flies. Julie and Hugh don't use that path to my home and hadn't noticed a problem. They take care of so many things for me, so I was happy E & B took care of it. Great kids, all!

They asked about y'all and Belle n' Shep. Were your ears burning? I know they are amazed at how dear my blog family and eagles are to me! And, they do so appreciate your interest in my life and welfare.

Love and prayers for all!!!

Thanks to all of the veterans. My brothers were both in the military: Freddie served as a marine in Vietnam. Jim served briefly in the army until they decided he could not see all that well.

Oh my goodness, Hoda. Glad that the power outage was brief and the fire was quickly extinguished.

stronghunter said...

Sorry about the kitty, Loretta. Hoping that you can soon solve the mystery of the new little cat.

Judie said...

Good afternoon to everyone.

Ventured out to forage for sustenance. Did well. A bit tired.

A couple of comments gave me a mental picture of Miss GG and Captain Gene together planning a Heavenly Friday Family night. Miss GG preparing Suddenly Salad and the Capt. mixing Eagle Talons.

Loretta, has the orange kitty visited again? So happy you saw an eagle with some building material. Very optimistic.

Kay, so nice you enjoyed your time with Eileen and Bill AND got some path repair into the bargain. Glad you all had a great time together.

AND NOW FOR HODA: well, Jufie cannot be held responsible for the sparks flying in Nelson. Jufie was scarfing up pecans at Lolly's place. But Hoda has tried to throw us further off track by threatening to eat Jo's ice cream cone. Really, Hoda, the cold weather has messed with your mind. Curses or not curses! lol

Okay, seriously, glad there was no severe consequence to the fire and power outage. Please take care.

Going to put my feet up for a few minutes. Then to the scullery.

Hmmmm, wonder if Jufie has a kinder heart than we thought. Jo have you had Butter Pecan ice cream lately? Those pecans might come from Hawkwood.

So, JUDIE, when you foraged sustenance did you come up with a good dinner idea? I'm going to chow down on leftover roasted chicken, buttered brown rice and tossed salad. Going to eat a hearty meal as a "fast" will then be on in prep for my routine 3 month check up tomorrow.

Will break the fast at lunchtime tomorrow with a bowl of Eileen's fabulous Minestrone soup. She prepared it for Monday nights dinner. I came home from Julie's with some to freeze and some to enjoy in the next couple of days. Love those "kids"!

JUDY, you need to find a nice, tall, handsome Pole with a chain saw. Ask Santa for that!

Good evening all.

Wanda, I wish I had your faith! I will be praying for you and your family as you deal with another major loss in your life.

Jo, what a beautiful house for Christine and Patrick!

Hoda, stay safe and stay warm! Your temps sound cold in Fahrenheit AND Celsius!!

Kitchen didn't get finished today - glitches galore! Maybe tomorrow.

Today was productive for me - dusted and vacuumed the upstairs, wet-mopped the hardwood floors in our bedroom and the hallway with Murphy's Oil Soap, washed all the dog bedding, cleaned the 3 upstairs bathrooms, and did my Neighborhood Watch house checks.

Which leads me to an interesting "no good deed goes unpunished" story. While I was checking houses, I noticed a child's bike behind a house next to a storage shed. The people who own the house aren't members of the property owners association so they aren't part of the Neighborhood Watch program. But, when I checked the door to the shed, it was unlocked and there were about 5 other bikes inside.

So, I put the child's bike in the shed, turned the lock on the inside of the door, and pulled the door shut, locking the shed. Nice good neighbor thing to do, right?

When I got home, I called someone and got an email address for the homeowners and emailed them letting them know what I had done. You won't believe the reply I got! I'm going to copy and paste it:

"What? I am sure you meant no harm but I purposely left the kids bike out hoping someone would take it since we have no use for it. And more importantly left the back door unlocked since I do not have a key for the closet. I have had no problem for 24 years. Now I have to pay for a locksmith to get the door unlocked?"

I was so shocked that I read the reply to Denny. It turns out this guy is someone that Denny has done work for and Denny has 2 keys to the guy's house. We went to the house and one of the keys unlocked the shed. When I got home, I emailed the owner and said:

"Mr. Aluise,
I read your reply to my husband; it turns out that you are a client of his and he has 2 keys to your house. One of them opened the shed. The bike is now leaning against the piling where you left it and your shed door is unlocked, just as you left it.

Rest assured I will never again check your property. For the record, I think "thank you" is a more appropriate response when a neighbor does a good deed, but that's just me.

Have a good evening."

OK, time for some TV. Big meeting day for me tomorrow at school. A meeting with Racist Johnny's mom at 8:30am, a 2nd meeting at 10am for the student of mine who is being expelled for selling drugs at school, and a 3rd meeting at 1:30 with a mom who is currently suing the district b/c of services that she claims her daughter was entitled to in elementary school that she didn't receive. Is it June yet??

Goodnight everyone - I'll see you all in the early AM.

Sitting here in front of the fire and watching The Voice. Voted yesterdy for Reagan who is a Burleon girl. She is doing great!

SANDI, loved your response to the "gentleman". What an idiot. Leaving it out, wanting someone to steal it. Why not take it to place to clean it up for a needy child at Christmas?

All plants I am saving are in the house or the greenhouse. Went out and harvested my basil. Some of it I pulled up and replanted in a pot. Hmmmm?? Wonder if it will survive? LOL

Tomorrow I have a doctors appointment...regular appointment following up blood work. Then rushing from there to a do appointment. Yep, it is do time again!

Wow! Not sure what the temperature is here now. It was cold enough for some ice this morning, but just barely. Got to upper 60's or so by afternoon.

I will be thinking of Wanda and family . . .

Going to say good night now. Getting sleepy. SED, everyone.

good morning. my heart and thoughts are with Wanda....

Happy Birthday SUSAN!

and HODA in the great frozen north...and poor JUDYE suffering in warm climes down south...poor souls....

here? woke yesterday to a bright, sunny morning, in the 50's with blue blue blue skies...beautiful. then the clouds rolled in....at 4:30 it was close to 60 . the rain and wind came thru. at 6:30 it was 48. it is now 36. high today about 40 and 21 tonight. I know HODA, that would be a comparable heat wave to you right now.

thankfully I have everything outside prepped. glad to have that done.

glad to go to work today. only for 3 hours, but need to get out of the house for a bit. having 3 or 4 days off in a row is great, but then ready to work.

started weights and measurements with Olivia yesterday....well, that's going to take some time. the conversion....inches to feet, feet to inches, to yards and back. she started to clue in at the end.

SANDI: hang in there. soon it will be turkey day; a few days off...then the December holidays....and then on the way to JUNE!

okay, I need to get moving. critters want breakfast...need to get a few thigns done.

light and love, healing, smiles and big warm fuzzy hugs to all!

I am laughing that Sandi's Fog Delay was in effect this morning; however, I have been in the area and that fog
is as thick as Pea Soup!
Great that you are now down to just 2 meetings today.

Mema Jo said...

Changed my pic
Just checking it out

stronghunter said...

Was thinking that the fog there must be very thick. I can't recall having a fog delay for school. Do remember one morning when I almost called in to say I would be late because the fog was so thick I needed to wait for sunrise at least, but I made it onto a main road and managed to get to Culpeper.

Breaking News: European space probe has landed on a comet.
