Wow, Hoda. What happens if you let your teen-aged child drive your car?

We certainly do not have such restrictions on allowing someone to drive our cars. My children usually drive if they are accompanying me somewhere. Not that they are teens anymore.

Well thank you MARGY. This week IS a bit slower but still active. I have my yoga classes. I have a Yoga Festival Planning Committee meeting I have an optometrist appointment I have a garage sale prep, I have Dragon Boating and Cottonwood Market and finally but not least a Yoga retreat next Sunday...I plan to have days for bicycle transportation only and maybe lunch or at least tea with a friend...so I am slowing down but am staying active this week...it is good as I needed to put rest time in there...

Good evening - finished a TV show

Speaking of fawns - I also saw my first one - wasn't really a young young one but still had some spots - Ran right in front of my car as I was coming towards our house. Funny that I had really slowed in order to not startle 2 mourning doves by the road and ZOOM right across the drive.
He was beautiful!

Margy - I'll be praying that your operation does the trick and gives you a lot of pain relief!

Good Monday morning my eagle friends!

Well, my 2 girls with afternoon tennis matches both won so they are in the main draw and get today off. Lena and her boyfriend left around 5pm, then called at 8pm to say she has been asked to play doubles with someone who needs a partner, so she and the partner will be here this afternoon (doubles don't start til tomorrow either). Nice for Lena to get a 2nd chance.

Jo, thanks for the nest report. Sounds like our juvies are doing just what they're supposed to be doing, whether we are watching them or not!!

Paula, sounds like a productive weekend. Now do some relaxing!

Hoda, anyone who drives my vehicle is insured as long as I have given permission. The girls have only driven very short distances.

Kevin has court today for his accident. Hoping his attorney is worth the money we are paying him and gets most of the charges dropped.

Looks like a gray, rainy week ahead here. Today is our 8th grade recognition (like graduation except it's not, since the kids will all be back in school for 3 more days). Since I'm in charge of the event, there are lots of last minute things to get done. Like 5 sheet cakes to pick up and making sure that everything is set up correctly.

Make it a great day all!

Good monday morning to one and to all!

it was a busy weekend. i had good sized classes and my level 3 was a new and unique experience...normally my classes are primarily female, with maybe a male or two. the level 3 class yesterday was 4 males and 1 female. neat new perspective, enjoyed it very very much.

more rain today and not complaining. everything is nice and wet, plants are growing beautifully.

i need to cover the fig tree soon so i will be able to eat some of the yummy figs that i see growing!

hope everyone has a lovely day! light, love, healing, smiles and hugs to all!

Good morning my eagle budlets. Hope all is well in your corners of the world.

Sis called this morning during her walk on the beach and said there were osprey everywhere. She said one had washed up on the shore that looked like it had been in the ocean for a while. :( Her and Mattie are having a marvelous time. I do not like them, Sam I am.

Lolly said...

Good morning! I laughed at your comment, Sharon. Then had to explain to Jacob.

This morning we are going shopping for clothes for the growing boy. He is ready to go! Unusual for a boy!! He needs nice shirts for church and shorts for play. As well as flip flops or slides. What to call them???? Will also get a couple of t-shirts to go with the shorts.

Then this afternoon have to take him to Denton for his baseball practice. I am taking him today and Jack is taking him Thursday. The drive in traffic is not fun!

Luke slept on our bed last night. Thought of all of you who sleep with the dogs. lol He started out on the floor but in the middle of the night he asked up. He was not ready to wake up this morning. LOL And, then he had to stretch a lot. Silly dog!

Lori O. said...

Good Morning Everyone!

Trying to get caught up!

SANDI, sounds like you aren't getting any down time. Busy weekend and a busy day today! Good luck with all the 8th graders! Nice that Lena is back for doubles.

MARGY, prayers for your hand surgery and getting all the help you need to see you through it.

LOLLY, so glad you're having a great time with Jacob and Luke! I can just see you chasing him with his toy. RoRo likes to play that game, but he looks more like he's romping like a rocking horse, than running!

HODA, who are you helping today? :)

JO, thank you so much for the reports from the nest!!! Big hugs!

Lucky BEV/SISSY at the beach seeing all those osprey!

Raining here again today. Supposed to rain all day. The vet is coming in a few hours to give Dalai her shots and give her a check up. She's been getting tired and very hot, easily. She may also have Lyme disease since she's been having various joint problems - front leg one day then a different leg the next. RoRo just needs to be checked for allergies as he gets yeasty stinky fast and is very itchy this allergy season.

Have a great day all!!!

I LOVE US!

Lolly said...

Also, need to make an appointment to have Luke groomed. Never have done that but thought I would surprise his family but having him smelling and looking good. They will appreciate me paying for it. LOL

Lolly said...

Good morning, Lori! There was an article in the paper this morning about taking good care of senior dogs. Now, I need one for senior cats.

Jack is up now. Need to get Annie from the garage and transfer her to our bedroom. We are not letting her outside while Luke is here. She hates dogs and I am afraid we would never find her,.

Lori O. said...

LOLLY, poor Annie. She'll get over it as soon as Luke goes home.

Waiting for the rain to slow down a bit, so I can take RoRo for a potty break and try to catch some of his urine. I forgot to say that we think he might have a UTI because he's peeing every 3 hours and it's never very much, and he'll even do it in his crate. This will not be easy to get him in the act!

stronghunter said...

Hope things go well for Kevin, Sandi.

Hunter is sniffing and coughing today. He has a sinus infection and an ear infection and is on medication after a visit to the doctor.

We just found out he has a baseball game tonight. We shall see how he feels later today.

Enjoyed your fledge pictures, Glo. I thought I posted a "like." Sometimes I forget what I have done. :)

stronghunter said...

I put out some peanuts for the birds and squirrels. Looks like they are already gone. I saw a squirrel running around the yard--maybe looking for a place to bury a peanut. Now one is lounging on the fence.

stronghunter said...

Hope you get to visit at Jenny's, Jo. Sounds like fun.

Home from shopping. We got dress shorts for church, two church shirts, (collars) two pairs of shorts and matching shirts for play, and two pairs of shoes. He is 8 years old...youth XL. Shoes are men's size 8. No little boy here!

Luke has discovered we have SQUIRRELS!! He sits at the back door and stares. When he is out he is running the whole time. He is getting his exercise. Thing is our yard is not fenced to keep dogs in so we have to go out with him. It is 90 today! Ugh!!!

Going to be hot watching the baseball practice.

The youth and chaperones are off on another adventure today in Colorado. The cook, Laurel, is watching the humming birds, ground squirrels and keeping an eye out for a bear. Says she is practicing saying "It's me bear."

Good Grief on weather alerts. I recently heard heavy rain and flooding in Culpepper and wondered if it was heading for Shirley's. Hope not!!
It started sprinkling here, so table umbrella had to come down in case of wind. That seems backwards, doesn't it?
Margy~~~~LUV your chicory. My 2nd fave color. Lady I work with at Chelsea has her own small framing shop behind house. It's painted periwinkle!
Paula's been busy but mostly at the beach. Yum
And Shar, did you get left behind when relatives went to b@*ch?
Gotta do something ☺ ~~

stronghunter said...

Learned earlier today that the last day of school was canceled because of flooding in Culpeper. A teacher friend was concerned because the award ceremony for kids was not going to happen.

No make-up day is scheduled. School is over there.

Lolly said...

Have to have am awards ceremony at the beginning of next year!

Dinner is almost ready. Did not eat lunch so I am hungry. We will have to snack after his practice, possibly a bite of leftover mac and cheese.

I will see you late tonight!

stronghunter said...

Good idea, Lolly!! I expect they will mail the awards for now. They were wondering if they could publish something in the paper, but were concerned that some parents do not want their child's name in the paper. I think some kind of form is signed at the beginning of the year, though.

Enjoy the baseball, Lolly. We are canceled, probably just as well since Hunter is under the weather today.

NatureNut said...

Did I say sprinkling? Well we had buckets for awile!
Glad Hunter's ballgame is cancelled. Good luck Lolly as a Little League Grandma!I can't believe the size 8 shoes!Maybe all those GS's will be basketball stars!

ARGH! I missed something....MAGPIE SURGERY????? on the hand I presume???? when???? see what i get for working all weekend?

We are having florida weather.....we have a tornado watch, and had a nasty thunderboomer move thru on my way home. Was hard to see, almost pulled over...but by the time i got home.....the sun was out, but it was still raining lightly and you could see steam rising off of the pavement. YUCK! humidity!

It was a great day at work, fully booked. Am off tomorrow, but plenty to do....(does that surprise anyone here?)

Hope everyone has a great afternoon! :) HUGS

CHECK OUT GOOGLE

Lori O. said...

The vet came today and think Dalai's heart and lung sounds are good, but did a complete blood panel to check everything...plus Lyme and thyroid, since she's gained 6 pounds! She's concerned that her tongue hangs out to the right and the way she breathes that there could be some laryngeal paralysis...

RoRo has a very high urine ph and some protein in his urine indicative of crystals. That would make sense with his behavior.

The blood and urine sample results will be back tomorrow so will know more then.

JO, glad you had such a great day with the gg kids! Blizzard is surely adorable since all kittens are!

JudyEddy said...

LYNNE2 How are the neighbors upstairs Inquiring minds want to know?
Angie and Carl found out info on the house that they are putting a offer on and it is bank owned so NO CASH offers to get in the way
They found out that the whole house had be remodeled in 2010 due to fire and flood
so Angie did some researching and called the fire station and ask Thinking that it was a fire and off course the flood damage is from the fire hoses water
What she found out WOW
On Tuesday, December 29, 2009, firefighters arrived at a home at 1580 Huntington Lane in Clearwater, Florida. They find Nancy Broadhead badly burned, suffering from smoke inhalation and rushed her to the hospital.

What everyone didn’t know was that before the fire, Nancy’s daughter and her 15-year-old boyfriend entered her bedroom with a gasoline can, they emptied it on the floor and bed. They then lit the accelerant, then escaped in the woman’s 2007 Ford Focus.

Nancy Broadhead

Samantha Broadhead,11

The two kids were arrested early Tuesday for attempted murder and arson resulting in injury. The 15-year-old boy Jack Ault, was charged with grand theft of Broadhead’s 2007 Ford Focus.

Samantha Broadhead, just 11 years old- is the daughter of Nancy Brodhead. I know everyone is shocked about this entire incident what with the girl being all of eleven years old (don’t they still play with Barbie Dolls anymore?) and at first I thought ‘they need to lock this kid and her boyfriend up and throw away the key’.

But my thoughts quickly changed when I read more about the story and the fact that this woman, Nancy Broadhead has a past record for abuse and neglect not only of her daughter-but her sons as well.

There are reports of Nancy Broadhead driving drunk with a 4-year-old Samantha in the car, and more recent reports of Nancy beating the child, and beating those who came to defend the girl.

The Tampa Bay news sources have said;

Police cruisers outside the house have been a familiar sight. Within the past year, Clearwater police responded to seven calls, not including the fire Tuesday, at the Broadhead home at 1580 Huntington Lane.

On Thursday, police released reports generated by three of those calls. Though heavily redacted because of the girl’s age, they refer to a runaway juvenile who refuses to come home, holes punched in the wall and marijuana in plain view.

I am not making excuses for this girl, for her actions were horrific, but it has to make you wonder what life she had to endure with her mother inside that home that made her want to try to kill her mother and at 11 ??? Her reaction was the product of how she was nurtured, or the lack of nurturing.

My point is, obviously bad parenting, abuse, neglect, drug and alcohol abuse all lead up to this. How much more can a child take being beat, slapped in the face, being ignored and neglected with a parent choosing drugs/alcohol and men- can a child take?

I certainly don’t condone what Samantha did, yet I can clearly see it was a series of things that led up to this, a life of abuse and neglect had a big part in this happening. I only hope that this young girl gets the help she needs, it isn’t too late.

SED, everyone. See you tomorrow.

Lolly said...

We be home and Jacob has long since been in bed. An interesting day. Usual hour drive to Denton took 15 minutes longer...not too bad. Went to the house to check on cats and Bosco. A friend of Josephs has been coming over 3 times a day. With the storm the other day Bosco went under the bed and got stuck 2 times. Boys dad had to lift the bed while mom drug Bosco out. They have since shut him out of the bedroom. But, other than that all is fine! Petted Isabelly and PC.

Then we went to his first All Star Practice. First off you have to know that his regular team was the bad news bears and the coach pathetic. These coaches are awesome! 4 of them!! It was like a boot camp. lol They worked the tails off these little guys. The batter coach is a minor league player. However, things started out BAD. Jacob was throwing the ball when he did something to his shoulder. He was crying in pain. Two guys checked him out and thought nothing was out of place. I put ice on it and encouraged him to keep moving it. He eventually got back into the practice, but these coaches were really working on paying attention and hustling. Jacob has a thing or two to learn.
His shoulder is okay, It was miserable though,...95 degrees!!!

Lolly said...

Jacob is huge for his age and he does not move fast. That was his biggest problem tonight.

Tomorrow we are going to the zoo. We will go early in the morn and try to beat the heat.

Lolly said...

Heading for the shower. The heat got to me today!!

Night all! SED!!

stronghunter said...

Sounds like an eventful day for you, Lolly. We are looking at a baseball camp or something like it for Hunter. There are several available.

stronghunter said...

Rappahannock River in Fredericksburg

The river is really getting high and the water is rushing.

stronghunter said...

Not sure just why Hunter's team has done so poorly this season. The coach keeps focusing on the pitchers. He works with one boy, then another. It does give a lot of boys experience, but none of them gets very much of it.

Hunter throws the ball hard, but needs to work on accuracy. Hunter has done some pitching, but then got moved to catching, and he played that position the whole game last time, which is pretty tiring.

Sandi said...

Good Tuesday morning my eagle friends. Sure hope the sun comes out and stays out today - field trip with our 8th graders and the whole day is outside. We were under a tornado watch all afternoon and evening yesterday but only got rain.

Also, lots of tennis matches going on this morning and afternoon - too bad I won't get to see any of them. Two of my tennis visitors moved to another house - I was just keeping them for the weekend. But another 2 arrived, including Lena who left and then returned but with a new player. It's all good.

Hope progress is being made at Judie's house.

Paula, welcome to DE - did you bring the sun with you ... please??

Haven't heard from Kevin about court yesterday. Turns out, he didn't have to go. His attorney went on his behalf.

Day two of reconstruction has begun. To give you all a brief mental image -- wallpaper removal began and revealed more wallpaper beneath which had been painted over. Apparently some form of cement glue had been used on problem areas. The nightmare has begun. Yesterday's team of three increased to a team of four this morning. Audrey and Grace are traumatized. We are curled in the fetal position.

Not caught up but think I saw Margy's surgery is scheduled for 6/21. Will mark that on my calendar (when I can find it). Meanwhile, I hope everyone survived the heavy rain.

I do recall that I was happy that I was present in the house when a painter started to apply white ceiling paint rather than blue wall paint to my bedroom walls. We did spend a day sitting in Kathryn's bedroom watching television while the painters worked in most of the rest of the house.

Richmond airport is now open again. Thank goodness. We have used that airport from time to time--not as busy and crazy as the DC area airports.

Good late morning to all

Enjoying the fact that it isn't raining again today - I think it is saving it up until Thurs.... :(

Roast in the crock pot so there will be little to do for dinner other then serve it up.

No special plans for the day
Thinking of Judie and Frank - wallpaper can sure be a hassle.

Well bah humbug and fiddlesticks! Testing was canceled for today....psychologist has stomach bug. We need to send this lady some love and light!

Got the house straightened up.....ran errands, Livvy goes to camp shortly...dr appt @ 3.

Time for a break! So here I am!

From Facebook:

Live Eagle Cam
EAGLECAM UPDATE: The outdoor cable that provides the signal from the base of the tree to the wireless transmitter was damaged in several spots by a critter (squirrel or raccoon most likely). Replacing the cable will be too much disruption for the eagles as they are getting ready to fledge. Right now we're trying to set up a temporary camera to show the tree/nest area. We will let you all know if this is possible soon. Thank you so much everyone for your patience!

Mema Jo said...

I just read that, Shirley over on FB
Let's hope it can happen!

stronghunter said...

It would be nice, Jo. I would like to see a post from Steve now. Hope that is coming soon.

stronghunter said...

Too bad about the testing, Janet. Hope that can be taken care of soon.

stronghunter said...

Keeping my fingers crossed that a cam can be set up. This would be a good time to have a view of the tree from outside the nest area. Maybe it can be a permanent cam in addition to the one over the nest.

We are home from the zoo. It actually was manageable, We got their at 10 when it opened. They had a lot of misters and fans going. We also bought snowcones and that helped us keep cool.

Luke is driving us crazy. He has discovered the squirrels in our backyard and he whines to go out and chase them, So funny! When we do let him out he runs frantically all around.

Hi, Everyone,

Have been extremely busy here, trying to get the house cleaned up as it should be. I apologize for missing some birthdays and anniversaries. Best wishes, if somewhat belated!

Judie, you definitely have my sympathy as your house is being torn apart and put back together!
Your poor kitties! Hope the end result is more than worth the bother!

I need to prod myself to get busy again. Laundry to be done, and I don't feel like moving. The doctor doubled my dose of simvastatin (for cholesterol), since I was on an extremely low dose, and now every time I take it, I feel like I have fibromyalgia! It makes my muscles ache all over. Has anyone else had this problem?

Margy, have your surgery date on my calendar! Hope it really does the trick for you--and hope you won't need surgery on the other hand, either!

Well, better get busy again. Will try to get back here more often. It takes too long to catch up on what's happening when I wait too long! Miss all of you, too!

She is getting a break from cooking the evening meal tomorrow and she is going on a mountain bike ride. (down hill!)

Posting what I put on Facebook earlier. We are all okay.

Freak accident of the day. Buphals Farley and Tytun were playing. I heard a fight ensue. I go to try to break them up. Can't get Tytun to let go of Buphals for anything. Thelma comes running down to help. I discover that Tytun's bottom jaw and teeth are stuck in Buphals choke collar. It was so tight I couldn't get a bolt cutter under or anything. Couldn't get it loose. I thought for sure my Buphals was going to choke to death before we could get loose. I twisted Tytun's body around and Thelma worked on pushing the chain up over Tytun's teeth. That was absolutely one of teh most traumatizing events of my life. My poor Buphals pooped on himself. Tytun is hiding under my desk. I can't get to him to see if he needs to go to the vet. I am praying his jaw isn't broke. Buphals bit my middle finger.

MARGY sorry the Sup forgot that you were on days off.
Good luck and praying for Friday.

PAULA thank you for checking in.

SHIRLEY and it will get worse in Turkey...the PM is pushing his Islamist agenda a bit too far.The Turkes won't take it lying down.

Egypt has a general strike and demonstration day planned for the 30 of June...so worried, their tempers are flaring...The Islamists there are destroying 5000 plus artifacts!!! I am disgusted!

Do you see why it is so heavenly to simply be able to go for a bicycle ride and to yoga and volunteer...a full life without the violence.

We are blessed.

Glad to see you made it back, Hoda! Got Jacob to bed and then watched a couple of recorded programs on TV.

Luke must have had a tummy ache tonight. He asked to go out, I took him, but he did not run and go potty. He grazed on the grass. When I called him to come in for the first time he was not tail wagging ready to come in, then shortly after, he coughed and threw up on the carpet. Lovely!

He is asleep now.

Time for me to fall asleep, too.

Night all! SED!!

Good Wednesday morning my eagle friends.

Jo, thanks for the update on the cam. I don't even open the page anymore since I can't see the kids.

Shar, hope both dogs are OK - how scary for you and Thelma, and also for them.

Judie, glued down painted wallpaper under other wallpaper. Sounds like a LOT of work to remove - so sorry!

Tennis tournament has not been friendly to the girls still staying here at the house. The two who moved to a different house won yesterday but the ones staying here lost their doubles matches. One is still in singles and plays this morning. Is my house jinxed?

Today is locker clean out day! Showing a movie this afternoon and having pizza delivered for the kids. Yesterday's field trip was OK, not great, but OK. Boy was I exhausted though when I got home from school - fell asleep in the bathtub at 8:30!

Dry today but severe weather is in the forecast for tomorrow.

Make it a great day all!

Judie said...

I am typing this from under a paint tarp, cannot find the alarm clock to turn it off, have no mirror (probably a good thing), and we are making progress.

Hope everyone is doing okay. Saw about the dog dispute. Sorry. Sorry also about the world troubles. Thanks so much Hoda for your generous offer but I believe the U.S. border with Canada was closed just moments ago.

Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone but I am planning my escape. My plan begins with a casual shower followed by donning of street clothes. Then I will walk around commenting on the work accomplished and yet to be accomplished. Then -- ta da -- I will magically vaporize and reappear in my hair stylist's chair to get my "do" done. Darth will escape tonight for meetings.

Please have a lovely day everyone.

As with all plans, 1 hour later: there is a small glitch in my escape plan -- I cannot find my shoes.

Good Wednesday morning to all you wonderful eagle momsters and dadsters out there today. This is my last day at school :) and I am a happy camper. Still couldn't get the live cam up yet. Rats. Does anyone know if the eagles have fledged?

good morning to one and to all. beautiful out, but hot already. i took seven out @ 2 this morning and it was hot then. it is already 80 degrees. bleech. summer has found us!

yesterday was busy, but in short, olivia has happier coming out of camp, tom's doc was pleased and tom starts physical therapy today.

its been busy, running errands, etc. in addition to tom's physical therapy, my massages are today, and olivia still has camp. go go go.

HODA: i feel the same way about giving massages, or working in my yard. i can disconnect from all the stress of the world, focus on the moment and just be. although i do stay in touch watching local news and in the morning a few min of Good morning american, mostly, i find the news disheartening and disgusting.

all right ya'll, have a great day. light, love, and smiles to each of you. :) :) (((hugs))))

Good Morning Eagle Friends!!!

Going to be a hot (90) and humid day around here! I think the grass is still too wet to mow, but it's on my chore list.

SHARON, so glad that you and THELMA got the dogs apart and all appears to be okay. Has Tysun come out from under the desk yet? How is Buphals? And your finger?

JANET, you sound busy, busy, busy! Glad to hear Tom's doc was happy with his progress.

LOLLY, enjoy your day with no plans. Maybe you'll get to work in the garden if it's not too hot.

HODA, welcome back to Blog Land! Those tech people can be very frustrating!!! Been there before.

JUDYE, today is your Friday! Happy day!

Hello MARGIE and JO! Hope today brings each of you lot's of sunshine and smiles.

JUDIE, so sorry about the wallpaper fiasco! Enjoy getting your do done!

Thought I had a dr's appt. today, but looked at the calendar, and it's not until next week! YEAH!

Love, light, hugs, and joy to everyone and big wishes for a wonderful day for all!
