Good morning my eagle budlets. Here is the latest from Christine on Michael's Caring Bridge.

Sorry no update yesterday. There was a issue with me getting information. I think we got it straightened out. I will probably not have as much information as before when he was in the hospital though. I will get his mailing address posted as soon as possible and I will find out information about visitors.
I spoke with dad's nurse and he is doing well. He fever is gone. Dad was with the therapists this morning. So hopefully what went well. I am anxious to hear from the team and case manager in a few days what they think the plan will be. No real other changes. He is still not able to speak or move his right side. He responds to some commands or questions. My grandmother is heading down to see dad this afternoon and maybe I will know more then.

Darn It I got a email in my junk folder about two hours ago and just looked at the junk mail and it was a notice that at 10 the cam on the Decorah nest was going to be up for a short time Now its not on I missed it I had forgotten about the email me on the camera updates Now I need to start checking junk mail more often I guess
I am picking Jordyn up after school today I was hoping to see them over the weekend but that didn't work out for me, I am a little upset about it but will get over it like I do each holiday being excluded from family time I just have to remember I am not part of that family I guess.

so now there is one in the back yards....hope he is not Jonesin' to get indoors for the winter !!
But he's a beauty! Almost as big as a Fox Squirrel, with some nice red in his tail also, but he is a Grey Squirrel, or maybe He is a SHE

Things I have learned from the Great Dane cam. Walter is 11 months old and is from Denmark. Chaos is ready to deliver babies at any time. Charlie is a Great Dane who is back at the Service Dog Project place while his owner, a veteran, is in the hospital for 3 weeks. He gets to watch Charlie from his hospital room when Charlie is on the cam. The pups are 4 months old today.

Norfolk Botanical Garden Eagle Alliance
Good morning, Alliance!! Just a brief update this Monday morning. We have gathered a lot of information these past few days in our quest to keep Dad Norfolk and #3 safe in THEIR Garden. We are making positive headway. We have been assured that pyrotechnics WILL NOT be used against our eagles in any way, shape or form. A huge step forward!!! More to come! EAGLE ON!!!!!

Geez Louise ! I'm sooo far behind here and missed some birthdays, I know. Sorry WANDA n' JO--seems you both had good ones and I'm glad ! My excuse is dual=storms passing through Central Ohio and my problems with pain and being out of it with pain killers.

Many thanks to all of you who remembered my Julie in prayer during her bout with pulmonary embolisms. She has returned to work 20 hours a week. No teaching, just administrative and committee duties, but it's a big improvement !

Thanks for the NBG update, JUDYE ! I hope Dad Norfolk and #3 find a suitable place to nest. Takes lots of time to create one from scratch !

Thinking of LINDA's dear Dubby and hoping we hear something soon. Appreciate the update on JO's Michael. Prayers with both as well as all in need ! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Oops - didn't mean to post yet, but it looks like I did! At least it wasn't mid-sentence.

Glad to hear the Michael update - sitting up in a chair and waving - that's wonderful!! I'm sure it must be so hard for Christine to leave her dad right now.

Kay, good to see you on the blog today. Praying for more good days than bad days for you. Great news that Julie has been able to return to work.

Anxious to hear from Linda that Dennis's complications have been corrected and he can start recuperating.

Later!

Good evening all...

A busy day outdoors and tending to the herb pots. They are now all either drying or in the flat or in the freezer waiting for soup making time.

Beautiful here.

Excellent yoga practice tonight and it started to rain again only in the evening.
I hope no rain tomorrow while I am distributing posters around town advertising the book sale.
Tomorrow also work shops on how to eat on a shoe string budget...I like to see what they offer even though I would not say I am on a shoe string budget. My neighbour lost her job and has not had a pay cheque for a month now and still nothing in terms of disability pay so she is stressed. She is going for surgery next week nothing serious but it affects her back pain as she is a nurse and lifts people in the seniors home. We had a visit today and the landlord is wonderful family they are. They defered her rent till she is able to pay!!!I thought that was spectacular.

I ♥ US much gratitude to all.

Waiting to hear from LINDA and DENNIS. PRAYERS.

Well, Monday is past now, but we are BOTH home and getting in bed now.

It was a terribly long day with lots of waiting today. Surgery that was scheduled for 3:00 - 3:30 didn't even begin until 6:30 for Dennis! Of course we were there and waiting!

The surgery was longer than expected, but the surgeon was able to get the stent in successfully! Praise God!

The not so good news is that he still has a nephrostomy tube that needs to be taken out in a couple days and he also has a Foley catheter for a couple days. It won't be comfortable, but we are happy to learn he is on his way to recovery!

We got home about 45 minutes ago and we both showered, I redressed Dennis' kidney wound, helped him get situated for bed and we are going to get some shut eye!

Thanks for all your prayers and support....

Will touch base with everyone tomorrow after we get some needed rest!

Peaceful sleep for all....

Good morning my eagle friends! Chilly here after last night's soaking rain.

Linda, glad to hear that Dennis's procedure went well, but not without more frustrations. I'm with Wanda - I think I'd look for another hospital AND another doctor!

Jo, happy to hear a good report on Michael. He is young and strong and determined, and those rehab docs will push him hard - and I'm sure that's exactly what he wants them to do!

Talked with the vet. He agrees that surgery for Bandit would be a mistake now that he has bitten me. He said Bandit would surely be more aggressive when he is recovering from the surgery and is in pain and that, once a dog reaches the point that it would bite its owner, it's just a matter of time before it happens again. So, we will keep him and love him for as long as we're still seeing glimmers of our old buddy. When either his dementia or his bladder problems get too bad, then it will be time to let him go.

Prayers continue for Michael and for Dennis, and also for Kay and Jo.

Make it a great day!

a new thread! less than 50 comments!! THANKS STEVE

good Tuesday morning! I have today and tomorrow completely off! It means I make no money, of course, but its been a long while since i've had 2 week days off ! next week, back to it. i've had to give up my tuesdays off.....which is a good problem to have. however, i sure am tired on fridays!

WANDA: congrats on the nice new feather!

HODA; i haven't had a moment to respond to your four hour yoga! that sounds simply divine! at the end of 90 min i am so not ready to stop. last night was especially nice . my friend jeannie and i are/were the last two up off the floor....and we had quite a yoga bliss, or maybe in our case, a yoga drunk going. i had a moment where it occurred to me that she quite literally almost died last year during a "common" surgery...she had been in a coma for 3 days, the struggle she has had in the last year and i lost it. i was crying....and then she was crying...and then, we were so happy we were having major giggles....and the yogi was quick tickled with us.

i love coming home on Monday nights. i just sit here, chill and drink water and melt into my bed and sleep so well, so deep and peaceful.....

JUDYE: your camera takes such nice pix!!!! glad you were able to spend time with angie, carl, and jordyn! you sounded so sad in your one post....wish i could give you a hug.

yesterday was a good day....mondays are typically slow for massage,so i left @ 1. i came home and had a pleasant afternoon. livvy was back to school, so it was a normal monday.

today is full of promise...so much i can get into! not sure what i will do exactly....must make a list!

keeping everyone, humans and furbabies close in my heart for light, love, comfort, and healing. hugs to each of you...and smiles all around!
i'll check in later!

Janet said...

btw, so there are no misunderstandings, the yoga bliss/drunk came after class as we were preparing to leave the building.....thankfully we were the last two there with theyogi when the emotional release decided to take over.....we were a pair...the yogi was hugging us as we were hugging and crying....and we had to struggle to explain our joy....just sheer bliss and joy....and grattitude....

Hi all, checking in from work. Having major interntet issues at home. Seems the wireless adapter isn't working. Cannot afford a new one. Can use Traceys computer occassionally, but this isn't making online application filling out very easy at all, or anything else, either.

OK silly question Here is where we need Lynne again Angie said at 5 when she threw up that her dinner noodles were whole Well I think that being Jordyn doesn't chew her food that the body needs for us to chew our food up to digest easier and the body digested the food that was already chewed smaller like her chicken and fruit and left the noodles and they hadn't had a chance to be digested yet Just wanted to get you all opinion on it Should she be worried about the whole noodle

Hi, Everyone,

It feels like a hundred years since I've been here! Have just been very, very busy. Have tried to keep up, but haven't posted since (I think) last Thursday. Emma is fine, though with the hotter weather she is sleeping the days away. They are predicting the low-to-mid-90s for our roost today!! Hoda, please send some of your cold weather down here!!!

Have been keeping up with the prayers for everyone in need. Glad to hear good news about Michael, and am glad that Dennis is doing better, and will surely be more comfortable in a few days!

DanaMo, glad your Dad is doing well, and is not having problems with the chemo! What a trooper!

Sorry to hear that Bandit is not a candidate for surgery. Hope his disposition improves!

Lynne2, so sorry there's no sign of Brother Cat. Hoping that he will eventually turn up somewhere!

JudyE, prayers for Jordyn's speedy recovery!

Well, Emma is begging for some attention, so guess I'd better go for now. Lynne2, I have a question--how do you cure agoraphobia in dogs? I really think that Emma has it. I tried to take her out for a walk earlier, but as soon as we got to our parkway, she panicked, and was completely unmanageable, and dragged me back to the front door. She basically had a panic attack. Any suggestions?....I'm going to go get some lunch and spend some time with Emma. I'll check back in later tonight, after dinner. Hope everyone has a good afternoon/evening! I ♥ us!!!

Been reading Michael's updates and it's great to hear all he will be doing! Glad Dennis is out of hosp, even tho he goes back. I agree with getting another med team, Linda, & do not accept any bills!
Gotta close up shop here~~~

this was on my newfeed from someone who wrote this

"Judith Monarch EAGLE ON ALLIANCE
Here's the message I sent to the NE USWFS office that approved permit. It was off the top of my head, so I apologize if made any errors in details:

To Whom it may concern: I am contacting you in regards to the Bald Eagle nest that was dismantled on October 4th this year by the city of Norfolk Virginia. They claimed that it posed an imminent threat to the airport that was built in area of wetlands that has a large bird population. I do not live there, but joined a group of folks trying to get them to do more research and maybe find another solution. The nest has been there in their Norfolk Botanical Gardens for well over a decade. I did the research on bird strikes. Since 2002 there have been 4 bald eagle bird strikes and over 500 of other species. In addition they refuse to use avian radar systems. To date I know of no other deterrents even tried at the airport. I question their permit. Of four bird strikes, none occurred in the air. The most recent in 2011 was also on the ground. The pilot had seen the bald eagle feeding on something dead on the runway. Why wasn't the runway kept clear? She flew up and the plane hit her. The pilot took no evasive actions. This information is coming from a council member that has been working with the group. The bird was spotted and no evasive measures were taken. The permit says 4, however one of that 4 was a dead eagle found on the runway and no proof that it was struck by an airplane. I question what numbers they provided to receive said permit. Now that the nest is down. The pair of eagles have been seen around the area they lived. The city has stated harassment techniques will be used to keep them from rebuilding within a 1 mile radius of where their nest once was. They stated paintball guns would be used. It all seems very fishy to me as only shot could injure or kill the bald eagle. What of other innocent birds that might accidentally be mistaken for eagles and shot by accident? Lori Crouch the public relations representative for the city has said that the bald eagle will be removed from the states protected list as of January 1, 2013. How can that be? Please do what you can as I have yet to see that your agency has been involved at any point in the discussion by the city of Norfolk VA.
Kind Regards,
Judith Monarch

Latest from Michael's Caring Bridge: (Sounds good to me).

Well got lots of useful information today. I was able to speak with Dads case worker this morning and this afternoon. They had a team meeting today about dad which included his case manager, Doctor, physical therapist, speech therapist and occupational therapist. They came up with his initial plan. As of right now Dad's projected discharge date is November 3. The team will meet weekly to see if he is making gains in two main areas. If he is making significant gains then that date could be pushed back to give him more time at Kernan. They rate him in two main areas. The first area is mobility. At this point he is given a 75% because the staff must help him and they do 75%. They have to move him and do all the work to lift him to a wheel chair, moving the wheel chair ect... The second area he is rated on is being dependent. Right now he is fully dependent in areas such as hygiene, toiletery and dressing. Speech therapy is working with dad on all levels of communication. He still has the trach in and they will eventually put a speech valve on to see if dad can talk. We are not sure though if he can talk or not. ENT will determine when his trach can come out. It is dependent on what they would see when the do a modified barium swallow test. He is moving in the right direction though. He did have a smaller metal trachea tube put in today called a sahalie. That is a good thing, I was excited to hear this news! The nurse called me this afternoon and told me dad is doing well. He is responding to some questions by shaking his head. I expressed I would like his mitt (boxing glove) back off and she said she saw no reason it had to stay on. He is off meds. My grandparents (Mema Jo) are going to visit dad tomorrow. They will shave him and bring some more of his clothes to him. They will also attend a class for family members of traumatic brain injury. I am anxious to hear how that class is. Wish I could go myself. I posted a link on the resources section about traumatic brain injury for anyone intertested. Also if you would like to mail dad cards you can mail them either to Kernan or my grandparents.

My goodness, so few comments. I guess everyone is as busy as I am with a "to do list" that there just doesn't seem to be time to keep in touch with you dear friends!

We had nearly 70 guests eating our dinner and shopping our Clothes Closet. But, Lord have mercy, I think a tornado went through and left a pile of clothes and hangers on the floor:( I did't get a chance to clean up the mess, I suddenly remembered that I hadn't gone to GG's. It was 6 o'clock and she goes to bed at that time...she needed her bedtime pills!
I drove to her house and she was already sound asleep, so I just left her pills on the table where she could see them when she got up, if pain hit her in the night.
Also left her some soup and chicken for a midnight snack:)
I will check in on her early in the morning. Gene and I have a seminar to attend at the Health Deprtment, which is very nearby GG.

Good chilly Wednesday morning my eagle friends! Boy, i could really hear the ocean crashing when I took the dogs out this AM!

Jo, glad to hear the game plan for Michael. I pray that he makes great strides in his therapy - and fast! Enjoy your visit with him today!

Lynne, sorry about your internet problems - must be that old computer you're using! I never tried using it wirelessly.

Paula, we are continuing Bandit's meds for dementia and he is back on home made food, since I suspect that the dry food for dementia contributed to the new kidney stones (he didn't drink enough water and wouldn't eat the dry food if I added water to it). MTBR.

Wanda, sounds like a great turnout at the soup kitchen. I wouldn't know the first thing to do with a 5 lb. bag of grits, but I'm sure your folks were delighted!

Off to the school house! Make it a great day all!

Hey Everyone, sorry for disappearing - it's been a busy few days.

Still reading and all caught up thought, just no time to comment in my early morning hours online.

Will try to get up a little earlier so I have more time! :)

Love you ALL!!!

I had my stomach emptying test yesterday. Thought I was going to have to drink yucky stuff, and turns out it was a nuclear test, so no swallowing chalk!

good morning ya'll.

it is pleasant out this morning, and a warm day (80) is ahead. however, they are calling for severe weather for over night, and cooler weather for the week's end.

i meant to pop back on here yesterday, BUT, obviously THAT didn't happen.

it was really nice out and i had an itch to be outside. there was so much to do, i had to pick and choose because i sure couldn't do it all!!!!

i ended up taking the carpet shampoo-er and cleaning out a vehicle we are prepping to get rid of (tom loves to buy cars, fix them up a bit, drive them for a while and sell them. his hobby. ) the one we are prepping is a conversion van. chelsea and chris think they may want it, and even if they don't, the carpet needed a once over. so i did that and tom worked on tightening down the door panels and such. then i had a real moment, and drug the area rug from the living room outside to the back yard and shampoo-ed it as well (hard wood floors inside)....then i decided i wanted to play in the "new" travel trailer, so i took a broom and swept, and put some of OUR stuff in there, towels, blankets, pots, pans, etc.

i vacuumed out my car...which as small as my car is you would think i would get around to more often! (it is a 2006 mazda mx 5) but it gets pretty cruddy sometimes on the inside. i want to wash it, but that is another story.....and i felt like a dork. thought i would wash my car yesterday afternoon. after picking olivia up from school, we stopped to put gas in the car and somehow i set off the alarm on the car. well, i don't have a key fob with the stop alarm button....that died a couple of years ago and for the life of me i couldn't remember how to stop the beep beep beeping and flashing lights....embarrassed, i drove home!
the beeping stopped after a min or so, but it FELT like forever! when i got home, opening the door of course it went off again! i got out the book and read and then remembered, oh yeah, put the key in the door and it will turn off! so i may wash the car in a bit when i take olivia to school!

i am getting a massage @ 12:30 today. looking forward to that....been a while.

such good news on Michael.....i like the fact they put this very concrete plan together and presented it. that certainly must feel better than not knowing and feeling like you are in limbo and don't know what to expect or what their expectations are. certainly, they will have to adjust as he progresses, hopefully faster than they anticipate! there are so many studies to indicate that prayer/positive energies sent to a person directly impact their healing.....and with this many people sending light and love for his greatest and highest good, he can't help but win!

JUDYE: hope jordyn is doing better today.

everyone else: if i missed your bday; hope it was happy! hope the furbabies are doing well, SANDI, you are very much in my thoughts as you struggle with bandit. i had to sock sable's foot again last night which ticks her off....she was worrying that leg again, with the pimple. so back on goes the sock to protect it from her licking.....and she is ticked....

let me get moving. hope everyone has a super day. i'll try to pop on here again later! hugs, light, love, and smiles....(((((HUGS)))))))

4 years ago today I stopped smoking. Most of the time I am grateful but I still want a cigarette a lot.
