We have had another great day. Went for a drive this morning in Kananaskis country. Saw 4 prairie chichens and one moose...a cow and at a distance. So, wildlife count not so good. On the other hand saw beautiful fall foliage and beautiful mountains and lakes.

We came back to Canmore, washed the car and washed our clothes. A good day.

Tomorrow Kootenay Natl. Park. Now to cook dinner,.

magpie said...

Yeah, thanks Lynne..I am hoping it just a simple battery fix like it needs some water, and a cousin will help in the morning, but if it's that starter, well, guess I'll be hitchhiking to work...

Hi, Everyone,
Haven't been here in a while because my cordless mouse quit working, and finally had to reboot to get the mouse on my laptop to work! Will need to get a new cordless mouse ASAP, because not having one is driving me nuts!

DanaMo, prayers going up for your Dad, Mom, and for you!

Shirley, please pass along my belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes to Kathryn! Hope George is doing OK.
Prayers that he doesn't have any medical reasons for forgetting where the catbox is!

So sorry to hear of the NZ's baby panda. How distressing!!!

Welcome back home, Steve! Glad you're home safely.

Lolly, WOW--glad you got to see a grizzly!!! (MIGHTY glad it wasn't too up close and personal!)

I will try to get a new cordless mouse tomorrow, and then can process the pictures of Sedona and get them on my blog.

Emma says, "Woof, Woof!" I wish I could say she is feeling 100%, but she still isn't quite right. The heat has really bothered her, and she only eats her regular meals if I hand feed them to her, in small bites. Her insurance kicks in I think, on Tuesday, and I want to take her back to the vet for some blood tests and whatever else is needed to see if she has an infection going on. She's not coughing, has no runny nose, no vomiting or diarrhea, no really obvious problem, but just won't eat on her own. Prayers, please!--and Lynne2, any advice? She does seem to have faster respiration than usual, but could that just be the heat? Really frustrating.

Well, better get going. Need to feed Miss Emma before it gets really dark outside. Will try to check back in later tonight. Hope everyone has had a fantastic day.
I ♥ us!!

Wow! New thread. Welcome home Steve & family! Hope you were treated well in India. My daughter misplaced her wallet leaving a cab in New Delhi. The driver took it to the American Embassy! Rare, huh?

Poor Redskins didn't win, but Ravens were ahead last time I heard.
Went to Chelsea for awhile & when leaving, saw a wonderful cloud with silver linings! Thought everyone can use some of them!☺ Forgot to mention I saw 2 red foxes there Friday PM. They were across the pond & at first I thought they were deer, but too short and too orange!
Lolly, love your travelogue! I'd stay in the car if grizzlies appeared!
Trying to watch Emmys, but channel got changed~~~~

Larry saw an osprey in Fairfield where he is now living...we think it was probably migrating!

Hi,

Welcome home, Steve, and thanks for the new thread.

Margy, hope it is an easy fix.

Andy, afraid George's problem is a bad attitude. He is being kept in my bedroom at night. There is a cat box in here. And during the day, if I can't keep an eye on him, he is outdoors.

Too bad about the 'Skins. It looked promising there for awhile.

Been on the phone with my Colorado brother. We sometimes go a long time without talking, then get on the phone for a couple of hours or more.

Windows open tonight. Nice cool fall weather.

SED, everyone. See you tomorrow.

Hope you keep seeing those eagles, Paula.

Will check your pictures tomorrow, Loretta. You always have such nice ones.

Hi, Gang,
Back here to quickly say goodnight.
It's still pretty hot here--80 degrees! Can't spend too long here, because Miss Emma is right outside the door, and it's too hot for her in the hall. Need to get back to the living room where the fan can blow on her and help cool her down!

They're predicting cooler weather for tomorrow, and I pray that they are correct!

Sorry to hear that the Redskins didn't win. I like them too. Sorry about the loss, Lynn♥!

Have said prayers for everyone, for all creatures, and for all furbabies. The porch light is on.
Both security systems are enabled.
Wishing and praying for restful slumber and SED for everyone. God bless, and goodnight. I love all of you!

GM eagle buds. Busy day and week ahead for me.No time for bird watching trips. Not much to see this time of year as it is too early to see migrating waterfowl. Last week I did see two osprey at a local lake that had a couple of nests. Don't know if they were the youngsters or adults. Haven't seen my young eagles at the nearby nest. I will be in that area tomorrow and will try to get a quick look around. Hope our camera is working soon....
Thinking about you all and hoping for positive outcomes.

Good morning my eagle budlets. I am sad about the baby panda and don't want to talk about it.

But in brighter news, the 6th Annual Crisco Family Gathering Away From A Funeral Home was a great success. Really enjoyed hanging wiht family.

Saturday afternoon, shortly after riding down the lake looking for eagles, we were back in the campground and Tom was laid back in the reclining chair and said "what's that?". We had 2 absolutely gorgeous bald eagles soaring directly above us. God is so good!

Posting this for any who have not seen it....

We’re still reeling from the loss of our giant panda cub, and we feel like the whole world is mourning with us. Our staff is anguished, which is to be expected. Every loss is hard but this one is especially devastating. Thank you so much for your outpouring of support. Your sentiments of support and understanding of our work helps tremendously when we have to get through tough times like this.

We still don’t know definitively what caused us to lose the giant panda cub yesterday, but we do have some more information since yesterday, especially from the necropsy (animal autopsy).

The giant panda cub appeared to be a female. She weighed a little less than 100 grams, which is about four ounces. There were no signs of trauma, external or internal, which means that she was not crushed—confirmation that Mei is a good mother. Her heart and lungs also looked good, which tells us that she did not suffocate. There was a little milk in the cub’s gastrointestinal tract, which tells us that she did successfully nurse. The only abnormalities the veterinarians have detected so far were some fluid in her abdomen and a slightly abnormal liver. They don’t know yet whether either of those things is significant, and they’re still investigating.

The panda team continues to monitor Mei Xiang, and will until she returns to her normal behavior. She appeared to sleep well last night. Watchers did notice her cradling an object, as she did before to the birth of the cub. We believe this is an expression of her natural mothering instinct.

Mei is moving around well this morning, and the panda team was able to weigh her. She weighs 217 pounds, which is less than her regular weight but perfectly normal for a mother who hasn’t eaten in a while. (Mei had not left her den in over a week.) She ate a little this morning and drank some water. The panda team was able to get a vaginal culture from her, which they will check for signs of anything unusual. Once the tests results come back and we’re certain of her health, we will give her access to her outside yard and it will be up to her whether she wants to go outside. We fully anticipate that she’ll return to her normal wonderful giant panda self in a relatively short amount of time. Once she is out of her den and acting normally, we will open the Panda House. We’ll keep the panda cam on so our supporters and fans can continue to watch from around the world.

Many of you have asked about the future of these two bears at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo. Today, our immediate concern is for Mei Xiang’s well-being, and to understand what happened to the cub. We spoke to our Chinese colleagues yesterday and will continue to work very closely with them over the next few months. However, no decisions will be made until we have thoroughly discussed all options.

We will learn from this tragedy and hope we will gain a better understanding of giant panda reproduction and cub health as a result. Our next steps will be to share the information we’ve learned with our Chinese colleagues. We’ll continue to try to figure out what caused the cub’s death through microscopic and histological evaluation. As we know more, we’ll share it with you.

Thank you so much for your interest in giant pandas and support of the Smithsonian's National Zoo.

stronghunter said...

Thank you for sharing the information from the zoo, Lynne.

I am staying pretty busy trying to get the repairs of my house underway. Not too happy right now. Looks like we have a $10,000 difference between what the insurance company is offering and what the contractor wants.

Hi all! OMG, it took forever to upload pics to fb. Our wifi is so slow! I am determined to do it every day and not get behind.

We did have a great day. Drove as far as Radium Hot Springs. It has been hazy all week but it was worse this morning. We noticed it was "worser" (lol) in Kootenay. Then we saw a sign about smokey vision and then another about a "controlled wildfire." My eyes really watered today, so yes it was smoke and not just haze.

We are going on a hike in the morning and then in the afternoon we will start getting ready to head out of here towards home. Going to Glacier Natl. Park for a few days as it is on the way.

Yes, we are oh, so close, but yet still so far from Hoda. So very sorry we have not been able to get together. However, Hoda, I have felt very close to you this week. Love and (((hugs)))

Time to shower. Night all! SED!!!

WE had the smoke here too LOLLY!!!
It has been a privilege to look at your pictures in Canada and I hope you drive through Waterton as you head to Glacier Natl. GOOD MORNING...

HODA, I've been wearing socks in the morning (in the house). It has been so cold here, and I don't want to turn the furnace on just yet, so, socks on my feet and a warm robe on. Can't type very well in the mornings because my fingers are so cold:)

Had a meeting at church this evening and the men's group are going to put clothes rods and shelves above them, in my Clothes Closet...I should say, the Soup Kitchen's Clothes Closet. I am a HAPPY CAMPER!

Good night my frinds, love and prayers to you all♥

Lori O. said...

WANDA, that's great that you'll be able to serve men, too, with your wonderful Clothes Closet!

SHIRLEY, so sorry about the worry you are going through. I pray they work it out in your favor, or you find a better contractor for less money. ♥

KAY, has there been any decision on your MRI? Praying you have a day of less pain. Big hugs!

Haven't been on FB to see all of LOLLY's
pictures, but I'm so glad you're having a great time!
Have always wanted to go to Glacier! I hear it's gorgeous.

HODA, sock weather here this morning - 44 dgs F now!

It feels so good to be home,
but I can't say the same about having
to go back to work today! :) It's been so nice having the week of free time.

My pumpkin quilt is almost finished. Got the piecing all done and left it for my Mom to put the borders on - she does great corners! Debating now on having it machine or hand quilted. Too big a job for me, but the Amish near my Mom do a great job of hand quilting.

It's so good to be back with all of you!!! I LOVE US! ♥

DanaMo said...

Good morning. I promised myself that I was going to follow better, but the last few days have been crazy and I haven't been up early enough!

Very cool here this morning, but I know it will be great for a run. My long time friend (who runs marathons) is going to come down to my level and run with me in the mornings so I have a partner other than a dog. I started out one morning and got scared because I couldn't see it was so dark!
She is also a nurse practitioner and it's great to bounce stuff off of her about my dad.

Two procedures scheduled for tomorrow. A urethroscopy and retrograde pyelogram. Both attempts to see better what we are dealing with and look for cancer cells. He did have blood in his urine and that is also being sent out. Maybe we will have word by Friday, but I am thinking more like Monday. Both Mom and Dad are in pretty good spirits. Actually Dad is great. He isn't concerned at all. Denial or Great Attitude, not sure but it got him through Stage 3 lung cancer 10 years ago ☺

When will be see our nest again. I so much want to peek in on our eagles.

With my kindergarten class being such a challenge I certainly have enough to distract me from my dad's issues during the day. Not good to dwell on it.

Good Tuesday morning my eagle firneds! (see, right letters, wrong order) =)

Lori, welcome home - we missed you!

Dana, continued prayers for your dad. My mom sees the vascular doc at 10:30 this AM to discuss the results of all her tests and to talk about what's next. My sister will be with her to ask questions since Mom doesn't.

Shirley, Denny has worked with 2 clients who had water damage in dealing with their insurance companies. What you're experiencing is typical. Ask the insurance co. to recommend a contractor who will do the work for the price they're willing to pay. If they can't find someone who will meet their price, be insistent that they have to increase what they're willing to pay. Insurance companies are such a rip-off!! All the years that folks pay their premiums and never file a claim and then, when they have to, they get jerked around by the company b/c they don't want to cover the cost of the repairs!! Grrr!!!!

Need to check out Lolly's photos on FB. Have a great day!!
