How drenched are the feathers in FL??? Glad it's not coming ashore on the Tampa side. Guess you're still getting plenty of rain.
RAIN????? I was off the 'puter yesterday because of rain finally. We had some thunder boomers so strong that the house shook like the earthquake! At least no wind, so it wasn't violent. Today I didn't have to water the plants!☺

Put some animal pics in the Nook.
Haven't tackled 1812 Museum yet----somewhat repetitive, so I'll show the more colorful stuff and of course the Anacostia River.I forgot they were going to do boat rides & missed them~~duh.
Last week at home, I saw a Mama squirrel carrying a baby down and up the trees next door to a knew home. Couldn't see where it is. That was one big baby, too!
Later~~~~din din
Haven't read much yet, so hope everyone is doing OK ☺

Evening all!

Prayers for Bev - just read on FB about her being in the hospital!!

Heard some awful news on the news this evening - there was a shooting this morning at the high school in our Baltimore County neighborhood - the school that both of our sons attended! A 17 year old was shot and is in critical condition. The shooter just turned 15 and brought a shot gun - in pieces - to school in his backpack! A guidance counselor tackled the kid after he fired the first shot - wonder if I would have had the presence of mind and/or the courage to do that? It was the first day of school for Baltimore County students!

Also heard that 2 former students from my current school (both girls) - juniors this school year - were in a car accident late last night. The driver is in the hospital and the passenger was killed in the accident.

Such tragedies!

I'm beat - headed to bed! Goodnight all!

magpie said...

Oh so very sorry for all that news Sandi just posted.....I had heard about the shooting at work...
difficult enough when there are tragedies among adults, but when young people are involved, it seems to hit a lot harder

Prayers for all these things, and more....

Sending ((HUGS ))

Glad the hurricane passed you by, JudyE...my stepdaughter (James's Mom) in Fort Myers Beach, was on high alert and emergency evacuation status, she is also not disappointed that it did not affect her area too badly; I sure am hoping the storm will take it easy on the path it is on now

Thx, Margy! I forgot to put in the "cow killer" that was at Park. Lovely orange and black fuzzy ant!
BTW, got email over the weekend that the green beetle I posted a couple weeks ago has been identified by Dr. Messersmith who was Chairman of Entomology Dept. at U of MD forever (still has an office!)It's a Milkweed Leaf Beetle,Chrysochus sp..
Was pleasantly surprised by the number of butterflies out today! At least 12 cabbage whites on the blue salvia and many Tiger Swallotails on butterfly bush. We're seeing lots of monarchs at Park & here, too.
Time to hit the hay, so Pleasant Feather Dreams and Prayers for Good Health for Sissy and all others in need ;>)

Sandi, such sad news about the car

School shooting freek me out big time - Sandi I pray you will never have that experience to go through.

Judie - just strut your stuff tomorrow when you walk in that class room. I just know they'll love you and I pray they show their gratitude by being able to follow directions! lol

Hi, Everyone,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO CAPT. FATHER GENE!!! Hope the day was all you had hoped for, and more!!

Oh, dear! Prayers for Bev, for a speedy healing!!! May all that misery go away as quickly as it
showed up!

Getting here pretty late tonight, and haven't read back as far as I should. Hope I haven't missed any important news.

It was hot again today, but not as humid as it had been. Heating up again, though--Drat!!

Got a ton of work from the doctor today, so will be in lurk mode, and you may not hear from me much this week. Too much to get done, so little time!!!

Think I'd better call it a day--I feel a face plant coming on! Prayers have been said for everyone, every creature, and all our furbabies. The porch light is on. Both security systems have been enabled. SED, everyone. God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you!!!

Prayers for Bev that she feels better quickly and gets out of the hospital.

Judy, glad to hear the hurricane missed you! Prayers for the people of New Orleans that they make out OK!

Full day of district-wide meetings today! My least favorite teacher inservice day of this week - so much to get ready in my building and my classroom, and I'll have all day just to sit and think about it!

Have a great day all!

Good morning!

Off to the big school house. The number of open laptops will indicate how many can/cannot follow directions even on the first day.

Wow! What a treat to see the Capt. sneaked in the door last night. Lookin' good for 39.

I'll check in when I can. Wishing everyone a lovely morning.

Just spoke to Sis. They have ruled out pancreatitis. She has colitis and urinary tract infection. Treatment is IV antibiotics and pain meds. The pain meds have made her sick so they are changing those this morning.

JUDIE, wishing you a great first day back at school, and a classroom full of high IQ, mature students!

SANDI, sorry to hear about your sad news in Baltimore and the two young girls. Breaks your heart, doesn't it? ♥ Happy day #2 to you!

JUDYE, so glad you're safe and escaped Isaac!

LORETTA, your pictures are awesome. Love the spotties and those Black Vultures!!!

MARGY, how are you? You mentioned that you worked yesterday, and I thought Sunday & Monday were your days off. Changes?

HODA, I always admire you for your committment to yoga, and your sense of well being! I'm going to have to find a yoga studio that's close here!

ANDY, glad you have a lot of work - means lots of $$$!

SHARON, give my love and well wishes to BEV. Prayers coming your way, too.

I had my sleep study last night.
Glad that's over. The tech said I was easy because I didn't get up
once, but she said I can really snore! :) Believe it or not, I
slept really well. I was so tired going to bed at 11:30 instead of
my usual 7:30.

SHARON, thanks for the report on Bev. Glad they ruled out the pancreatitis! Missed her on fb this morning telling us how far she walked.☺

Lori, glad you slept well last night for the sleep study. No way in this world would I be able to sleep. My eyes would pop wide open and my mind would be going a mile a minute!!

Think I am heading to Hobby Lobby to find yarn today. Looking forward to a knitting project while traveling.

Boys and Laurel had a great first day of school. Jacob did too, but he was not happy with the after school program. For the last two years he has walked home with Joseph. Now that Joseph is at another school, he has to stay.

I asked Joseph if he had made new friends as several elementary schools make up the middle school. His reply "As a matter of fact...I did." lol

On Twitter from the National Zoo, they said that Mei Xiang's uterus is enlarged as one would expect from a pregnancy or pseudo-pregnancy. They say they are hopeful but it is too early to tell.

Good morning everyone. So I think some of you sort of get chatty late at night. I am glad to read that Bev does not have pancreatitis. I do hope they can get those pain meds making her feel better not sicker. Antibiotics should kick in for her today. Next week I have an 8 week old 3 lb shiht'zu to photograph. awwww now that is going to be great fun. I am always saddened by the senseless loss of life. Tough way to start a school year for all concerned :-(. Hope you all have a good dy and a chatty evening to :-).

Good Morning.

Thanks SHAR for the update on BEV. Prayers ongoing.

LORI I am glad your test went well and continued prayers and good wishes come your way.

YAY on a good first day for LAUREL and the boys. Sorry JACOB is not happy about the after school program...

I am very excited because for the first time since June I will talk to Edward, My American Brother. He is in Athens Greece and we are going to SKYPE. He finally got set up with it and I am so very pleased about it.

Off to get a cup of tea.

Morning Thelma...your greeting made me smile...its all relative is it not???LOL

SHAR, thanks for the update on your dear Sissy ! Glad one "itis" was ruled out and pray for quick relief of the other maladies.

JUDIE, thinking of you as you face those students today, with hopes it all went well !

LORI, can't wait for results of sleep study. Hopefully they'll zero in in something that can be easily remedied !

SANDI, what a heartache for that Baltimore school and those of you who have fond memories of it. A nightmarish 1st day of school. :(

My Julie has had to go on sick leave for the semester. The doc says the recovery/Coumidin are showing "normal results", but it will be a long haul. No progesterone for my dear girl and you gals be aware should you be on it or if you get an R/x for it. The Lord works in mysterious ways for He saw fit to allow me a turn around just in time to be helpful with Seth's transportation, her trips to the doctor, etc.. We're looking forward to Eileen's visit come Friday. It will be a working holiday for her, but she's pleased to be able to help.

Much prayer for all in need---HODA, I agree about Jim's lighting of the candles---I'm headed there now to light a couple. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
