Friday

Sorry for the delay, been in training class this week.  Dr. Jim Siegel has noticed a few times that one of the eaglets has been hopping up onto a limb out of the nest.

He is heading over soon to confirm that that is the case this time.

New thread.

Good afternoon,

I see Bro is alone again.

Hope everyone is having a good Memorial Day. Will and I finally got the canopy up. It is very nice.

stronghunter said...

I do have a table and some chairs we can put out there.

Oh, yes, Linda! The rolled flank steak is our house specialty. It is out of this world. However, it is labor intensive!!! If you want the recipe, I will be glad to share.

We are heading out to the pet store. Going shopping for gold fish for the pond. We have 8 and can add a couple more. One of the big ones has a couple of tumors and we do not think he will last long. We do not have Koi as we have plants in our pond and Koi eat plants! We do not get baby goldfish as we also have Mosquito fish and they eat baby goldfish.

Linda said...

LOLLY - If you don't mind, would you send me an email with the recipe whenever you get a chance??

Since we are working on the kitchen today, I may save it for another day, so no rush.

Thank you!!

I am going to sand and paint the wall we removed the cabinet and bar/table from now!!

Missy was wingercising and she is on nine branch...I saw her flap her wings.

Good experience at the hospital for me. They were courteous and efficient and they explained what they were doing and I liked hearing my valves, they have different sounds she said like a washing machine but I found them far more musical...they sounded different.

The doctor ought to have the results by Wednesday and I am sure if they were irregular she will phone to let me know...I feel my heart is alright and this is just a precaution.

Saw a friend at the hospital...she was distraught. Her husband was riding his bicycle and the truck ahead of him had ply wood and it came flying off under his bike and hit him in the chest and he flew off the bicycle. He has a broken clavical, something serious going on with the left eye and some serious head injury...I stayed with her while she was waiting for the doctor come talk to her again and she expected she will spend the day in emergency and might have to go to a bigger hospital either an hour away or five hours away. Our little hospital might not be able to deal effectively with head injury/trauma...I had heard the sirens as it was just before I went to the hospital...The guy stopped and phoned the ambulance and waited for the police. They gave him a 600 dollar fine for not securing the wood properly. He was very regretful...

Time for lunch so I will lurk for a while.

Missy came down for a few minutes and hopped back up to nine branch. Bro is plotzed, I think a parent is above the camera as it shook and there was a clunking sound.

CarolAnne said...

Hoda - good on you that you feel test results will confirm that all is well with your heart. How interesting to hear the valves working.

Terrible news about the bicyclist. Praying eventual outcome is good.

Mema Jo said...

Hoda I will offer prayers for the cyclist.
CarolAnne, How have you been and are you picnicking...

Hoda said...

Thanks C/A and JO...
Yes C/A are you having a picnic? Have you seen any wild life?
The wind is beginning to pick up here and I had to wear a jacket. I will have Indian Split pea soup, Indian from India that is. I rather like its spices and it is from the health food store so I know it is organic...

I am going to make a garden salad and

Hi,

Will and I had ribs last night. He cooked them on the grill for hours and they were delicious. I fixed a salad and some beans to go with the ribs.

It seems that whenever I drop in, Missy is branching.

stronghunter said...

Prayers for the man who was injured on his bike and for his wife. Good that you were able to visit with her, Hoda.

Hello Ladies,
Have been at cottage since Friday. Returned home early afternoon today ahead of storms. Finally getting our rain - accompanied by high winds.

Animal tally for weekend - raccoon, duck, turkey, young buck, crow, hummingbirds and a chippy.

Son & family were there too. Big storms at night, but days were pleasant.

Had good eats & good times.

wvgal_dana said...

Hoda I don't beieve it was just a surprise that you had to be at the hospital at the time your friend was there....I believe God brought you two today across each others path. Praise God :) Prayers for his recovery.

wvgal_dana said...

Shirley that Will sure can grill those ribs !!

On Friday on way out of town, we stopped at a small candy store/restaurant to grab something to eat on the way. Interesting place! Man who owns/runs it is blind. Business is run on trust. You tell him price of what you ordered (off menu on wall) and you identify the bills you are handing to him and he makes correct change. He waits on the tables too. Very impressive!! And the food was delicious. Got a few "Badger Paws" for dessert. Like turtles except they were the size of your plam. Yummy!

CarolAnne said...

That would be "palm"

Hoda said...

It is good to trust C/A...what a great restaurant, good on him.

wvgal_dana said...

CarolAnne about the blind man make me so happy. We lived across from a blind man that had a small grocery store. He was good to us kids and we would help him in any way he ask us. I loved that man. Thinking about him quite often when I past the old house we lived in. I always get a tear in my eyes.

Hi everyone.

Yep, Missy is just having a real good time with her new-found freedom. Hard to catch her in the nest anymore.

Shirley, glad you had some good food -- especially since Will did the cooking. Thought about ribs but decided on prime rib. Have not had that for ages and ages. Hope it turns out tasty.

CarolAnne, glad you're home safely. I think way long ago I may have heard about the blind owner of a store who works on trust. So happy he is still in business and still able to trust.

Jo, I'm sure you will come up with something yummy to have with the salad. Before Darth, on hot and humid nights, all I wanted was a cheese w/tomato sandwich or some sliced tomatoes with an ear of corn.

Well, speaking of food, I guess I need to head to the kitchen.

Judie said...

Hoda, I do believe if anything abnormal had been apparent, you would be told immediately. So glad you were in the hospital when your friend's husband was being treated. I know she is grateful to have had your company and support. Also, have to comment that if anyone in this whole wide world could listen to her own heart valves and hear music, it would be Hoda the Amazing.

Hoda said...

Saw Missy's wings and then her tail and she is up on nine branch still. Bro hopped across the nest...he went to the launching pad for a bit and then hopped back for a poop shoot.

Hoda said...

JUDIE thanks I rather think the same like you...she told me she did not read it but she seemed like she knew what she was doing and all is indeed well...
Enjoy what you create in the kitchen...and yes honest it sounded like music five different sounds even though we have four heart valves only!!!
Thanks for the reassurance JUDIE.
Again while in the hospital the thought that I would like to let ♥LYNN♥ know...God Bless her soul♥

Hoda said...

Bro found some nest leftovers and ate a bit, then left to the ten position.
Down came Missy and is now eating at five position and oh I think Bro tried to go up to nine branch and did not make it...he did try hard though...what a sweet heart!!!

Hoda said...

BRO BRANCHED

Hoda said...

Bro up at nine position and Missy eats and looks up as if to say what are you doing up there it is my spot...then she goes back to eating... GOOD ON YOU BRO!!! YOU DID IT

Hoda said...

I am so excited I wished someone else was here watching too...this is truly amazing because his first try he did not quite make it!!! But he surely is sitting up there now and I see his tail feathers every once in a while and Missy is still chowing with periodic periods of looking up at him.

Linda said...

I just tuned back in for a minute, HODA!!

I see Missy at 6 o'clock, so Bro must be in a branch??

Linda said...

Good to hear you felt things went well with your heart valve test, HODA!! Music to your ears.....and ours!!

Also, what a blessing that you saw your friend who needed some support. Will keep her husband in prayer as he heals.

So Bro is over to the left in the 9 position, where Missy usually branches?

Hoda said...

Yes LINDA it was so exciting to see...the sweet heart tried and did not make it at first and then right away went hire...the first time he landed smack into the trunk the second time he lifted off and made it...I am so happy for our nest for Belle and Shep and for all of us who have been watching this season. JO is right Missy might fledge on Wednesday then!!! PRAISES PRAISES PRAISES...

Hoda said...

Bro is at nine branch LINDA yes you are right...

Linda said...

It really is amazing to be able to watch and follow them day by day. I will miss them when they finally take off for good, but feel so good in my heart that they had a good season. These young ones are healthy, well fed, they seem to get along well enough and no major problems!!

Missy just lightened her load!! Wonder if she will jump up along side Bro?

Hoda said...

OK Missy goes to nine trunk and is looking up and out...she spreads her wings and is looking seriously up there...what will happen next My oh My oh MYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

Linda said...

Hopefully, since she has been doing this for a few days, she will choose the 3 branch and let Bro hang out where he is. We don't need her bumping him off....

Or maybe she will just hop around while she has the nest to herself....not that it ever mattered to her before when she was flapping and jumping all over Bro!!

Hoda said...

SHe spreads her wings and Jumps high and he is there I could see his tail feathers...she is sitting at three now...hpps to nine with wings spread oh please God do not fledge yet too early you have at least another day Missy, be patient wait your turn...I wished there was another spot she could get to perch...

Hoda said...

Three branch requires some flying does it not LINDA??? You have been there I have not but I always remember Belle or Liberty lifting off and then coasting into three...I have not seen Shep do that...

Linda said...

Yes it does, HODA!!

Hoda said...

I hope she contends herself to being in the nest a bit and that they do not knock each other out from nine branch/perch

Hoda said...

Did you see that LINDA SHe has got strong wings and she stayed airborn for a few seconds at nine branch out of the camera frame...only tail showing...Not enough room for both of them up there and she came down again. Bro is still up there...the white spot on her left wing is a dead give away it is her for now...

Lolly said...

Who is that in the nest? They just tried to go up to the stump, but that was not allowed. LOL Can not have them fighting over that roost!

Lolly said...

Howdy Hoda! Just saw that with them both out of sight for a sec.

Hoda said...

LOLLY this is Missy in the nest...Bro is up there...today I have marked her with the white feather on her left wing...I kept my eye on her and it was she who came down not Bro

Linda said...

Sorry, I was on the phone!!

Yes, HODA, I did see that. She's got some good strength.

Linda said...

S-T-R-E-T-C-H Bro!!
