Good Morning Everyone! Sun is shinning but the temps are low.
Checked the nest - no go!

Thanks Steve for the new thread.
I'll call others over.........

Good morning Jo and Jim! Thanks for the call over.

Jim.....row row row your boat!!!!

Okay, have finished my coffee and my breakfast...time to get with it!

I think it is so funny watching young animals scratch like that, Jim. They don't seem to have full control of the limb and look like they are flailing at air or beating themselves up!!!

stronghunter said...

I goofed. It seems the sub did give the test. Now I'm trying to figure out why there are so many blank copies. But I have plenty of papers to grade waiting.

stronghunter said...

Lynn, not sure what to think about the eclipse assignment. I do think that it would be tough for many of the kids to record an event in the middle of the night, and it is true that many would not have a cam.

It sounds like an alternate assignment of some kind would be a good idea.

stronghunter said...

Got a call from the nurse awhile ago. Kid was there. Said she had a headache and wanted to stay in the clinic since my English class "wasn't doing anything today."

Told the nurse that that was certainly not true. We were working on research papers. Kid said that she had done everything already. Sure.

Kid finally decided she should come on to class. When she got here, she wanted to make up a quiz she had missed. Turns out there was plenty for her to do.

hedgie said...

May I moan a little? My bad knee is giving me a fit today....feeling very unsteady on it. Don't think I DID anything to it. Wish me luck. Lots of trips up and down the steps between Mai and the woodstove and laundry!

stronghunter said...

Love it when a student tells someone else that we're not doing anything in my class.

stronghunter said...

Sounds like a good time to put your feet up, Lynn.

hedgie said...

Thanks for input, Shirley. I think Carolyn needs to call the teacher.....find out definitive facts and complain if it's true as stated by Jess.

stronghunter said...

Just ran into one of my former students setting up a presentation on James Madison University to show in the library.

She asked if we're working on research papers now and laughed at the notion that these high schoolers are stressing over a mere 3-5 page paper.

stronghunter said...

Sounds like a thought, Lynn. I think I would request an alternate assignment--maybe something kids could do over Christmas.

I appreciate parents who are reasonable and businesslike and try to find out the facts before they get upset.

Sometimes something that you think is a wonderful, creative idea doesn't turn out that way. And sometimes kids get confused about what is expected.

stronghunter said...

Gotta grade papers.

hedgie said...

Came running----thought I heard noise on the cam....but nothing in the nest.... :(

Mai had a really good leash session this morning. I think she is finally getting the hang of it!

hedgie said...

LOL, Shirley....seems like you have a successful and bright protege!!!

Just found another SB! Will they never die out??

Mema Jo said...

Lynn - hold on to your railing - I really pray you have a railing... :)

Mema Jo said...

By now if our eagles were using this nest, they would have limbs and leaves
for their flooring.. :(

Judie said...

Hi, Darth here:

Judie is doing fine, although fighting infection and a case of the blues. As for the former, the site of the infection looks much, much better compared to three or four days ago. The antibiotics seem to be working, along with soaking the bandages in a saline solution. As for the blues, she’s coming along there too. She very much appreciates your concern. It’s just that every once in a while we all need some space and to get away from it all. The “old” [old as in “former”] Judie will be back with you soon.

In cleaning out some files I came across this item that I put in a report to my Neighborhood Watch patrollers some time ago. I hope no one takes offense. The intent is strictly humor.

OUT OF THE MOUTH OF BABES. [From an Ann Launders column, WASH POST, Fri, 24Jan97. Item originally printed in the Vancouver Sun and contains real answers given by children on a Bible knowledge test.]

-Noah's wife was Joan of Ark.
-Lot's wife was a pillar of salt by day and ball of fire by night.
-Moses went to the top of Mount Cyanide to get the Ten Commandments.
-The seventh commandment is "Thou shalt not admit adultery."
-Joshua led the Hebrews in the battle of Geritol
-Jesus was born because Mary had an immaculate contraption.
-The people who followed Jesus were called the 12 Decibels
-The epistles were the wives of the apostles.
-One of the opossums was St. Matthew.
-Salome danced in seven veils in front of King Harrod's
-Paul preached acrimony, which is another name for marriage.
-David fought the Finkelsteins, a race of people who lived in biblical times.
-The Jews had trouble throughout their history with unsympathetic Genitals.
-A Christian should have only one wife. This is called monotony.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In case we do not get back to you before then, here’s wishing you a Merry Christmas or whatever holiday you happen to celebrate.

With warmest regards,
Darth [aka Chef extraordinaire]

Hello! Slept in a bit this morning, been relaxing since I got up.

Lynn, do you have knee brace you can wear to help keep you stable?? Wonder what happened? Do as Jo says and HOLD ON! But glad Mai's catching on to the leash!

Thanks for remembering our anniversary! Steve will be off all day because it was his half day next week, but he still had some vacation hours to use or loose so his boss gave him the whole day. Really great. I'll be at Irvine all day, and babysitting right after til 9. Oh well....

Thanks for the update Darth! One of our bloggers was on yesterday, Kickinbird, and she had the same thing a few years ago, and had some helpful words of wisdom. Maybe you can go to yesterday and find her post. Please give Judie a hug for me! Hope you guys have a Merry Christmas too!

Mema Jo said...

Good afternoon Darth - I enjoyed your
"Out of the Mouths of Babes" ! It always amuses me as to what a child actually hears!
You and Judy are wished a merry
Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.
After my having a broken leg there is a period of depression that comes to you. I pray for Judie to bounce back and start smiling again! Love her♥
and thank you especially for taking such good care of her.

Mema Jo said...

My feet are going up.
I have been with Kristen all day.

Lynn please carry your cell phone in
your pocket as you travel up/down those
stairs

hedgie said...

Oh, yes, I have a railing!! Not to worry. And basement phone is down where I can reach it if I should fall!

Darth, thanks for checking in and assuring us that Judie is bouncing back. We all understand the frustrations she is feeling. The holidays make it much worse. Hoping that you can get her out a bit to a party or even just to go view the lights. That might help! Just saw that Ann Landers piece again not too long ago.....love it, for sure! Out of the mouths of babes, for sure!
Love to you both, and hope you, as chief cook and bottle washer, have something special planned for your Christmas dinner! Merry Christmas to you both....but please check back before then if Judie can't!!

Lolly said...

I am home from buying groceries and now going to do some baking. It is in the upper 70's. Broke a record yesterday. It is hot! Going to put on some shorts before starting to cook. As the bag boy was helping me we were both really warm on that parking lot. Does not seem like Christmas!

Darth, great to hear from you! Like your signature "Chef Extrordinaire"! Good for you!!

Lolly said...

Lynn, take care of your knee!! My back is threatening! WHAT is happening to all of us?!!!

glo said...

Hi everyone. Nice day here in GA. I have to admit I don't really miss the freezing cold. I do miss the eagles and well I could handle a White Christmas, but I will trade for a family Christmas. Dex had a wonderful walk today. He is enjoying the new smells all around and leaving a little "news" for others too. I so wish to see that eagle in the nest alert BUT it is what it is so far anyway. I am sure our royal pair are fine. Maybe they too are going to celebrate Christmas at a different location and then head home. Ya never know.

Lynne2 said...

Hi Glo! Glad you and Dex are having fun!

Costume Lady said...

How special Darth is to check in with us from time to time to give us news of Judie. And it is good that he realizes that the 'Blues' is part of the healing process. Many men would think the wife was looking for sympathy or just whining. That is not the case and this Dadster is wise enough to know that! Bless you, Frank and love to you both♥♥

Mema Jo said...

Good to hear from you Glo. So happy you don't need to be watching for the Winter Storm Watch! Enjoy your family.

Watching the elephants at the San Diego Zoo in the rain. They usually would dust themselves with the dirt but they sure can't with that mud.

Mema Jo said...

Christine mentioned on FB that they got their housing assigned for Ft Bragg. This should be a lot off their minds.

hedgie said...

Glo and Lolly, I envy you the warmth!! Just finished throwing more wood on the fire here.

Wanda, trail cam footage is so great!!!

Costume Lady said...

Glad you enjoyed it Lynn. Funny, if you watch it on Facebook...no music...watch on my blog...let there be music!?
wouldn't it be fun if we all had a cam that we could record what goes on in our back yards or woods after dark? If I win the lottery, I will buy everyone one:)

Evening Everyone. Guess none of our birds appeared. I had cam on about an hour ago, then left 'puter for awhile. As my buddy, Greg, said---can wait about a month for action.
So glad to see Darth's update. Hope Judie will soon be up to snuff. ☺
Hope you're on the mend,Lynne & Margy & everyone else is well. Prayers for those in need.
Read yesterday about Shirley's shocking sight on the road!Congrats on figuring out the new phone!
On way out of Park around 11AM to attend luncheon, saw one eagle in the nest! So,they're there when I'm not!

hedgie said...

Oh, Jo, sure hope that the housing they get is nice. Is it on base? Some is okay, but some not....sure hope that they drew a lucky straw, so to speak.

hedgie said...

Cool, Loretta! From Greg's mouth to Lib and Belle ears!!! Glad that your eagle is staying put!!

Jo, I toyed with idea of hot dogs, too, but decided on corned beef hash, a fried egg and a biscuit! Cooking now.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,
Been having fun today trying to cope with the RAIN. :o[ Put tons of bird seed out, and my feathered friends are grateful. Had to replenish the hummingbird feeder--it rained so hard at times yesterday that the nectar got TOTALLY diluted with water! Our little Anna's hummers are grateful now, too. We have about 4 or 5 inches of standing water in the back yard, which means our water table is FULL. We have very sandy soil here, so when nothing drains, you KNOW it's been really raining!

Wasn't able to see the moon at all last night--too many clouds. Loretta, thank you for the great pictures!

Have just one more exam tonight, then no school until next week!

Had to get the exterminator out to check the rat traps in the attic. There was one in a trap--but it was all mummified. They will be back on Monday. The guy here today was unable to find 2 of the 12 traps. I bet there's a dead rat in one of them. At least the weather is very cold, so it should be OK to wait that long.

Emma was a good girl while the guy was here. She doesn't seem at all bothered by a guy in a uniform. That's good! She's doing well with the leash, too, but once in a while she gets frustrated with it. Understandable for a frisky pup, though.

Ms Bookworm said...

Lynn, hope your knee decides to cooperate with you! My left knee has a bone spur in it, and can get kind of sore if I'm not careful, but hasn't given me any trouble lately, thank GOD! Please be careful, and keep your phone in your pocket!

Need to go get ready to go to school. Will check back in later tonight, once I'm back home. Have a good evening! :o]

Mema Jo said...

Andy, I bet you'll be glad when this exam is over and you get a breather!

hedgie said...

Andy, too bad that you don't get a break next week, too!! Know you will ace tonight's exam, too!!!
Would venture to say that the mummified rat has been up there for several months!!! And it wasn't cold then......sure glad you didn't smell it!
Drive carefully!!!

Lynne2 said...

Hello, just checking in from the TB ward! Poor Steve is coughing too now. Says he feels OK though. I felt a lot better yesterday than I do today. And that stupid pulled muscle in my side is really hurting.

May I have some cheese to go with my WHINE? LOL!

Poor Andy, so sorry you have to deal with all that rain!

On the "out of the mouths of babes" note....
Steve and friend Dave were watching a movie with Dave's son Billy a couple of years ago, he was 9 or 10. One of the commercials that came on was for E. D. Bill asked them what the heck was "reptile dysfunction"!!!

hedgie said...

That's a good one, Lynne!!! Sorry Steve is hacking now....stop kissing that man! Hope your muscles feel better.

Lolly said...

Good evening! Made three pumpkin rolls this afternoon and then tackled working on Christmas cards. I have been delaying as I know it is a big task. Lost my address book on the computer this year. Grrrr!

It got up to 85 today. Broke another record. Average temp for Dec is 55. Yes, the weather is great but it does not feel like Christmas. Need a little cooler weather.

Lolly said...

Yes, you may have some cheese with your whine, Lynne. Pass the cheese someone! :)

Lynne2 said...

Make that pumpkin roll Lolly!

Lolly said...

Well, I would if I could (pass it), Lynne!

Lynne2 said...

I was laughing earlier at the thought of you doing Christmas baking in shorts! I've seen on the news how hot it was there today!

Mema Jo said...

Doing my wrapping for the great grandkids. It's fun - all the other children and grandchildren receive the
tree ornament which is a small knitted stocking this year with $ inside.
I do need to go shopping with Samantha
Thursday for a birthday gift.. she will be 9 and I'm thinking (hoping) she would like a birthstone or a ring of some kind.

Then tomorrow I will bake my pumpkin cakes (hopefully 2)

I think the Terrific Tues TV shows are reruns... with maybe the exception of The Good Wife.. I need
to check that out.

I am wondering how Dana's trip to the Aquarium turned out. I sure hope her eye stops draining!

hedgie said...

Sorry, Jo....The Good Wife is also a repeat. :(
Thanks for reminding me---I just came down from upstairs and forgot to bring the wrapping paper with me!! I just put my new fleece sheets on the bed----early present from Christie!!! She says I won;t need the electric blanket turned on.....we shall see! Gotta whine, too, and say nothing makes my back hurt more than changing a bed!

hedgie said...

Miss Mai is ready to go out....think I'll take my bath while we are downstairs. BBL.

paula eagleholic said...

Evening, all!

Had a good day, started off with a Breakfast meeting at Bob Evans! Have another one tomorrow morning, yum!

Tried to check the cam throughout the day, no signs of our eagles :(

Darth, thanks so much for checking in with us! Give Judie our love...and hugs to you too!

Andy, sounds like Emma is doing great, so glad you have her. Wish you could enjoy a true Christmas break! But I'm sure you'll take a week!

I did not get up in the middle of the night for the eclipse!

paula eagleholic said...

Oh Lynne, you will love the flannel sheets!

Lynne2 said...

mmmmmmmm Bob Evans!

I just put flannel sheets on our bed too! I really like them.

SO, if, hypothetically, I was to have slight fever at this stage, I guess that wouldn't be a good thing?

Lolly said...

Oh, Lynne! You are supposed to be getting better.

I am working on Christmas cards tonight. I might get them in the mail next week. Better late than never, right? :)

Our weather is supposed to change before this weekend, but I do not like this warm weather. I have lots of Christmas sweatshirts. Can not wear them! I also have some Christmas t-shirts and that is what I have on.

Yes, making beds is back breaking. LOL Our bed is extremely high (4 poster). I love it as it is so easy to make. As I am tall it is easy to get in to. No flannel sheets for me, just turn on the ceiling fan!

Mema Jo said...

Well Lynne you will find out how you are doing when you make that return visit to your dr. Take Steve along
and get him checked out. I hope you pass all tests with flying colors!

Lynn - Christie or Carolyn should be asked by you to help make the bed! That's one way to get a visit out of them. I don't mind stripping a bed but
I just can't do all 4 corners to put clean sheets on...... Kris helps me or rather Kris or hubby does it for me.

BEagle said...

Hello Folks,

Flannel sheets are buff!
I printed off the Ann Landers article for my Bible study. He He He Thank you Darth. Glad to hear Judie is okay.

A merry heart is a good medicine. Says that somewhere in Bible and has to be true.

My little cold is telling me to take a warm shower and go to bed.

Praying for you ♥

Lynne2 said...

oh NOOOOOOO BEagle....not a little cold for you too???? Hope it doesn't do what mine did. REST!

Lynne2 said...

I am getting better....the very tiny fever is just enough to help finish off the germs for good, so therefore I am getting better by having it!

Lynne2 said...

Well, with Steve's nose running, and the weather forecasts for here and Terra Alta, looks like our hope of getting to my MILs for Christmas are dwindling.

Costume Lady said...

So, you think you are getting better, Lynne? Glad of that, but don't jump the gun and mess things up! A set-back will land you in a hospital bed for Christmas!
Hope Steve can fight off whatever is trying to terrorize him!

All this baking is making me feel dysfunctional:( All I have baked are white chocolate, macadamia nut cookies and that was a mix that I bought from Dustin's FFA fund raiser.
Capt. Gene is going to make pepperoni rolls for Christmas luncheon.

magpie said...

then there's always the flipping the mattress thing, that's definitely not a one-person job but it can sure prelong the life of a good mattress

fleece sheets...same as flannel?
not sure I know about fleece sheets
Sounds like a nice gift, Lynn...and I hope your knee is doing better by the minute

Hope some of you saw that very large Cold Bitter Snow Moon rising tonight, big as a pumpkin

Welcome to Winter...officially tonight at 6:38 pm

Good Evening Eagle Pals !

Thank you Darth !
Prayers and hugs for you both ♥

Lynne2 said...

I won't Wanda....the mere thought of being cooped up any longer is enough to keep me in line! I've been very good about resting, taking my meds, using my inhaler, drinking lots of fluids.

Margy, I saw the moon...it comes up in the east right outside the kitchen window!

magpie said...

those temperatures in Texas and all that rain in California...
pretty unusual on both

seems we had a good Christmas day snowfall back in 2002 or 2003....

sure is something we have not control over, hoping that weather will not prevent loved ones getting together with other loved ones...

Lynne2 said...

Looks like the forecasters are now thinking the storm will be a later in the day Christmas event, into Sunday.

Lynne2 said...

and the weather in Europe has gone crazy too! Was watching coverage from England earlier today...what a mess! Hope Chrissy is all hunkered in!

Lynne---no, that is NOT good. What time do you see Dr. tomorrow?

magpie said...

prelong the life, shoulda been PROLONG the life of a good mattress and you can do the same for a poor mattress just to pretend

sorry to hear of more ailments amongst us

Jo - a birthstone ring or some kind of birthstone jewelry sounds like a great gift for fine little lady Samantha...
I love the ruby things I have, including a ring that was my mother's - just makes you feel special all over

I am receiving some truly lovely Christmas cards...well I think all Christmas cards are lovely as far as that goes...whenever they arrive....those signatures from friends and families are gifts in themselves

I am about 1/3 done, so many of mine will be arriving late as well.

I am hoping the jewelry will be a special gift for Samantha at age 9.

I agree that I should not wait as long as what I did this year to send out Christmas cards - takes longer than I
realize with signing the card, stuffing the envelope, addressing the envelope and placing the return address label and stamp. Mail carrier
probably didn't like me much this morning - that is until he realizes that all cards are in zip code order.
I love to organize -- crazy Libra.

Hello,

I have been catching up on paper grading this evening. Still more to do, though.

Enjoyed Darth's post. Funny.

Baking Christmas goodies in shorts? That sounds funny, too.

Tomorrow is my last school day before Christmas. Hunter is off tomorrow.

Good night.

hedgie said...

WOW----just took Mai out and when she came back in and up the stairs, instead of playing with her bed (the one not in the crate) she got right into it and curled up and has fallen fast asleep! Hope she's not sick!!! Maybe a touch of maturity showing??!!

Costume Lady said...

GOOD NIGHT, SHIRLEY:)

Costume Lady said...

Sounds to me like Baby Mai is getting into the routine:) She has a good mommy!

hedgie said...

Jo, post office told me that it doesn't matter if I do or don't band things together in zip code order. They all just get thrown into a scanning sorter anyway!

hedgie said...

Shirley, who will watch Hunter tomorrow??

paula eagleholic said...

Ahh, fleece, even better!

I am NOT going to get to any cards this year except the electronic kind!

Knocking on wood here, got rid of the cold.

I like to bake when I have the time...haven't had much this year, actually haven't used what time I have to bake. hey Wanda, that frozen cookie dough is pretty good, think I have one more tub in the freezer to use.

Well, the tree is finally done, have to finish picking up and cleaning, and I think one more run to the grocery store...and just thought of one more gift or two I want to get.

If that storm arrives later, I am going to tell Michael to stay in NJ, I certainly don't want him driving in it to get here.

paula eagleholic said...

I too, hope Dana was able to enjoy the aquarium and her visit, I think her daughter leaves tomorrow.

Lynne2 said...

I'm hoping this storm goes AWAY. I think we probably won't know what it's really going to do til Thurs evening.

I'm heading to the flannels! Good night and prayers for all!

Costume Lady said...

Night Lynne, sleep well:)

Costume Lady said...

MARGY, thanks for that info on the Red Fox. Did not know what time of the year they do their family planning. I think we have 2 different foxes, but have never seen 2 at a time. Could be the camera angle, but one looks a good deal larger that the other. What do you all think, that have seen the videos? Oh, to see a couple of kits in the Spring would make me so happy!

hedgie said...

Wanda, I agree....one of the foxes is definitely larger. What was Gene putting out in the way of feed the other day?

I am out of corn. Had already given Charlie money to get some more....sent word today that I don't want my deer and squirrels and birds to go hungry for Christmas!! Haven't seen any coons yet....but bet they are around, too.

hedgie said...

Well, dear friends, I am whooped. News coming on...one more load of wood into the stove....and then I am going to try out the fleece!
Sleep well all. Prayers that all symptoms of illness and injury disapper overnight. Moonie is gone....no stars...very bright clouds....suspect we may have some flurries by morning. Ugh.
Goodnight!

Hello, Everyone,
Getting here so late, it's early! I'm done with school! Got home to find out that Emma was a VERY good pup for Hubby. She's been a very good girl for me since I got home, too. It's still raining, and she decided to go potty on a piddle pad instead of making another trip outside. It's kind of windy tonight, so can't blame her at all!

Well, guess I'd better be calling it a day. I fell asleep in front of the TV! Prayers are said for everyone, and hoping that those with ailments and aches and pains feel MUCH better with the morning light! Praying for our eagles, too. Hope somebody spots them soon!

Turning on the night light, the porch light, and the Christmas lights. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are both enabled. Sweet dreams, everyone--Lynn, I'm jealous of your new fleece sheets! I'll talk to you all tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight!
Love all of you! :o]

Good Morning Eagle Pals...

whoa, rainbowy thing along the top of the Still Cam...same as we had a few days ago....

:(

Best wishes for a good day...

GOOD MORNING...
I got up early in hopes of seeing Nest Visitors, but saw nothing but a black rainbow of sorts:(
Wonder how many weeks it will take to get this new cam running properly. I think we need a cam GEEK to look at it. If there are any of you out there, please let yourself be known to us and HELP US!

Lynne2 said...

good morning!

UGH. Not again with the cattywampus cameras.....

Lynne2 said...

Sure would be nice if when we get a new thread today, Steve can give us some sort of a more specific update on our birds....

hedgie said...

Hi everyone! I see that we are cam-less AGAIN......if the battery is solar-powered and it doesn't last any longer than this, I think it's going to be a very unsatisfactory set-up. No sun today....

hedgie said...

Lynne, how did your night go? And Steve's? How do you both feel this morning?

Lynne2 said...

no fever this morning! Steve is, uh, MUCH more "productive" than I was that early on, so hopefully he can kick it before he ends up like me!

hedgie said...

Hope so, too!!!! YOU GO for f/u apptmt. today!

Lynne2 said...

I'm leaving now. I know there is still wheezing in my chest, I can hear it. It's hurting to breathe and after 4 full days of 60mgs of Pred and antibiotics, and using the inhaler, even I know I should probably be much better than what I am.

hedgie said...

Right----you should be! I think you need more nebulizer treatments! And probably a different a/b! Keep us posted!!

Mema Jo said...

Good morning Cam is such a disappointment but the MT nest is even more so.
Getting ready to head over to exercise
Then I'm off for my haircut.

I am glad your fever left you Lynne and
I hope that Steve is like hubby and can
shake that cold.

Lolly you are such a good neighbor taking everyone treats for Christmas.

Gene walked right into a days work at just one of the things he does well.

Hedgie - check out the smoke from the Chimney this morning - Really feels and looks snowy/rainy outside.

Hi,

Lynn, Hunter will go to the sitter tomorrow. He is not entirely happy because most of the other kids are much younger than he is, but he will survive.

He is lucky that he will be able to stay home with me the rest of Christmas break, except for the time he will spend with his dad. At least, I think he is lucky.

My students are at a Christmas concert right now, and I am taking a few moments to tie loose ends together.

stronghunter said...

Actually, Hunter is at the sitter's today. Tomorrow, he will be with me.

hedgie said...

Jo, smoke is going straight up----at the moment!
Yep, that is funny that the butcher shop is going to put Gene to work!!! Hope he gets the ham for free!!!

Shirley, yippee----last day for you!!!

stronghunter said...

Yes, Lynn. I am looking forward to the break.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Cooler today. It was in the 40's this morning and not the 60's like yesterday morn. Had a front come through, 20 degrees cooler today. Then another front comes through and we are back to much cooler temps maybe even rain Friday. Yea!

Time to get moving, sitting here does not help the back. I am thinking though that standing in the kitchen is the culprit. Grrr! And, I have a few more days of cooking.

Love the picture of eagles by Bob posted on fb. Wonder, does anyone know, is Blackwater getting a live cam? That would be fantastic!

Lynne2 said...

Blackwater cams should be up this week Lolly, hopefully. TAKE CARE WITH YOUR BACK!!!

Got an appt so I don't have to wait at Urgent Care follow up...leaving here in a few.

NCSuzan said...

Good Morning everyone! How are Christmas plans going? I am so sorry that many are under the weather with sicjness and injuries. Hope for full recovery today.

Lynn, sounds like Mai is coming around to a more orderly way of life. She is so full of life that I know it will still take time.

Judie, it's ok to have the blues. Please continue to share so we can help carry the burden for you. This too will pass.

Andy, congratulations on your exams. Love the stories about Emma.

Lynne, hope the doctor has good news for you. Did Steve gp with you?

I agree with everyone that a more solid statement about seeing Lib and Belle would certainly allay our growing concerns for these birds.

Lolly, you have the christmas spirit going strong. Know your neighbors will be thanful for your baked goods.

Know I have missed some. Need a notepad to write down events so I do not forget to comment.

Shirley, sounds like things are finally getting better for you. Hope you are feeling better.

Now lets hope the camera gets fixed soon.

Lolly said...

Hi Suzan! I love Christmas, especially Christmas day. I remember the magic of Christmas and want it for my children and grandchildren. I collect Santas and as I pull then out of storage and decorate, I think I should have my head examined. LOL

Lynne, I do hope the doctor gives you a good report.

Okay, I am off to eat a bite of breakfast and to get my day started. Have a great one...and I will be peeking in!

hedgie said...

Lolly, glad that you are happy to have more seasonable temps. It is supposed to be in the upper 30's here today....that remains to be seen!

Wrapping is underway jere.........and I am the worlds' worst wrapper! It's that left-handed thing!

NCSuzan said...

Lolly, mny daughter collects Santas too. Have you seen the painted gourds? I love those!

Lynn, I have not started to wrap for the same reason but I am right handed so I do not know what I can use for an excuse! I usually blame it on the cats!

hedgie said...

LOL, Suzan....bet the cats want to help, right????

NCSuzan said...

Of course!

I collect porcelain and other glass baby shoes. I started collecting them when Jillian was born. I had Gene put up shelves in the nursery to display them. Loved collecting them, from all over the US and Mexico. About a year ago, I thought "What in the H... was I thinking"? Must be a gazillion of them. I think they have reproduced! Decided to get rid of them and Dustin was quite happy with that idea, after all, a 15 yr. old boy needs something else in his room beside baby shoe collection...well, Jillian begged me to leave them as they were when she occupied that room. HELP!! I would give them to her, but she does not have a place for them:(

Going to see what GG is up to:)

Okay, cornbread is in the oven, fpr dressing. Working on the dough for cinnamon rolls. This is an alternative choice of breakfast Christmas morn instead of coffee cake. Crazy people!

No, do not have a gourd Santa. I actually do not collect anymore. I have too many as it is! I should post a pic of my favorites ones.

LOL Typed the above and went off and left it. Too much on the ol' mind. Have now completed two cheese logs.

Hi, Everyone,
Boy, oh boy, did it ever RAIN here last night! We lost our satellite TV signal for about 40 minutes, and we thought the sky was falling! The backyard is under about 5 inches of water, and it's STILL raining, although not as hard. I drove to the vet's office to drop off a stool sample of Emma's so they can check it before our appt. tomorrow morning, and OMG! The Santa Ana River is a raging torrent, and it was almost dry before the rain started! I'll have to try to get a picture of it to share. Didn't have my camera with me earlier. Had to take off my shoes, roll up my jeans, and wade out to the bird feeders this morning. It was up to my ankles, so at least it's soaking in a little. Had Hubby take the newer car to work today. Right near his work in Ontario, near the airport, there were puddles almost 2 feet deep in the right lane of the surface streets! Thank God, he made it there OK.

Lolly said...

Okay, Andy, time to bottle up the agua and ship it to Texas!

glo said...

Hi everyone. Hope your day is going well. It is warm in GA and Dex is definitely enjoying the break in harsh winter weather.

Wanda
Collections I have a kitchen full of cows. Its a long story how the cows started but it has to do with a country church and the morning I woke up to cows in the front yard of the parsonage. Yes pastors do tell stories on their families and the fun began. I had thought about getting rid of them too. Lots to dust etc etc. My kids, son especially said "No Mom don't do that. Its what makes this "your" home. We want them here when we come home to your kitchen. So for now they are still there BUT Taking pictures of collections gives you a memory of things that were in the event you ever do decide to get rid of them or whatever. So get out your camera and get some pictures of you collection.

Ms Bookworm said...

Lynne, I'm glad your fever's gone. Will be anxious, though to hear the Dr. report after your appointment. Praying for a speedy cure for you AND for Steve! From your description of your symptoms, it sounds like you have something similar to what my Hubby always ends up with when he gets a cold. He wheezes like ancient bagpipes! Always ends up having multiple nebulizer treatments and a couple of inhalers, plus super-go-plenty antibiotics! Thank God he's been OK so far this year. Try to stay indoors and not breathe the icy cold air. That always sets off a coughing spell for Hubby when he's sick.

I'm hoping that Judie is feeling better today. OOops! I hear Emma waking up! Better take her out to go potty, if it's not raining too hard.

Oh my Andy, get out the hip waders! Glad Hubby made it to work OK.

Lolly, pass the rolls and bread and cornbread....and...

My collection is small glass animals :)

paula eagleholic said...

Cam is still cattywampus!

Lolly said...

Whoa....Andy! You did not tell us you have a backyard pool. When is the swim party?

Lynne2 said...

Back from Dr....saw a different one today. Did exam and another chest x-ray. Didn't see the Dr after the x-rays. Assistant discharged me. I'm to finish meds, but she added another 5 days of Pred at a lower dose (20mg instead of 60mg. She didn't give me another nebulizer treatment. I still have bronchitis, but I'm supposedly not contagious, and can resume normal activity to what ever level I am able, including going outdoors to walk the dogs. I'm confused, since I really don't feel all that much better. I called back and am waiting for a return call.

Meanwhile, when I pulled into the drive, there was a pair of bluebirds sitting on the front bluebird house! Too funny!

Lynne2 said...

Well, I sent an ecard to the EM group this morning, but I see it didn't make it for some reason.....UGH

hedgie said...

Lynne, I'm glad that they don't think you are worse----BUT the x-ray report is what is the true diagnoser at this point. And I think resuming normal activity is a bit too much----because you are NOT up to your hectic pace yet. I'm gonna treat you like a croupy baby. Close yourself up in the bathroom and turn on hot water shower and sit there and breathe in the steam.

Hi, Red. Merry Christmas to you and the Mrs. Glad you are settled into the new house, AND that you checked in on us!!! I think Jim gets lonely being the only guy here! Enjoy your company and all the festivity in your lovely new home!

NCSuzan said...

Lynne, a confusing report. Glad you have a call in to the dr. . I agree with Lynn, take it easy. This can flare back up. And cold air is not your friend.

NCSuzan said...

But way cool about the bluebirds!

Lynne2 said...

LOL Lynn, I 've been doing that every night in the form of an extra long, extra hot shower! But I am NOT going to over do it. I really can't anyway! I have no place to be til Monday. But, I am going to bundle up while the sun is out and it's a balmy 42 degrees and let the dogs run in the field for a while!

Suz, OMG, it's SO funny to see the bluebirds...like a taste of spring!

Lynne2 said...

Got my call back, not contagious since I've been on the AB for several days.

hedgie said...

My collection is frogs/toads. About 200 on last count, I think!

Lynne2 said...

Stupid camera....I don't know about you all, but I am ready to march on NCTC and find me some EAGLES!

Lynne2 said...

Joker has just figured out that he is too fat to negotiate the window sill for bird chasing. KABOOOOOM!!

hedgie said...

Can't believe they haven't gotten cam working today..... :(

hedgie said...

Wrapping is complete!! Yippee. Can't put gifts under the tree this year, tho'. If I did, Miss Mai would have them unwrapped in very short order!!

hedgie said...

So did they say that x-ray was clear, Lynne????

Andy, never knew you had a lake in your back yard!!!!! Too funny! Hope you are right about it coming to an end, Jim!

hedgie said...

"Time to make the donuts"....oops....wrong! Time to make the pumpkin bread!!!

Lynne2 said...

I'll assume they wouldn't have let me leave if it wasn't clear. I hope!

Sure was nice to be outside for a little while...the fresh air smells so good!

Hi, Darth here:

STUDYING THE GRIZZLY BEAR

A Russian scientist and a Czechoslovakian scientist had spent their lives studying the grizzly bear. Each year they petitioned their respective governments to allow them to go to Yellowstone to study the bears. Finally their request was granted, and they immediately flew to NY and onward west to Yellowstone.

They reported to the ranger station and were told that it was the grizzly mating season and it was too dangerous to go out and study the animals. They pleaded that this was their only chance and finally the ranger relented.

The Russian and the Czech were given portable phones and told to report in every day. For several days they called in, and then nothing was heard from the two scientists. The rangers mounted a search party and found the camp completely ravaged with no sign of the missing men.

They followed the trail of a male and a female bear. They found the female and decided they must kill the animal to find out if she had eaten the scientist because they feared an international incident.

They killed the female animal and opened the stomach to find the remains of the Russian. One ranger turned to the other and said, "You know what this means, don't you?"

The other ranger responded, "Of course, the Czech is in the male."

My back is doing great today! Of course I took a muscle relaxer this morning as well as advil.

I am home but not for long...
Went to exercise, post office, hair cut and then put my feet up for a very
short time. Went to the mall and met up with the Ft Bragg gang - got b-day present for Samantha - ring and earrings. Now after I came home I have the kids meeting us for 6:00 dinner. That Alexis, Samantha and Izzy with parents of course.
I'll survive all this - BBL

Oh no!! Darth has struck again!! ROFLMBO

Lynne, I too have the same problem when sending emails to our group. That is why I seldom send any. Today or yesterday, I decided to send an ecard because I am so far behind in my personal life...tried 3 times to send, didn't go, so I did what Paula suggested and it worked. At least I think it did. Some have responded:)

Costume Lady said...

Oh Jo, that sounds like a good group to spend the evening with!

Jo, been meaning to tell you. On my little finger I wear a birthstone ring that my parents got from Zales and gave to me on my 9th birthday. It really means a lot to me! I think you are giving her a very special gift she can always treasure.

This AM, Santa's TV finally konked out all the way. For some reason, it wouldn't turn on unless you put the plug in & out of the wall several times.Other receptacles were tried. Of course a new one has appeared, However, I'm supposed to be the Helper & figure out the instructions to "program it" because I know how to use the computer!!!!! LOL I'm getting a headache! I am not a techie!!

I got, and still have, the Garnet birthstone ring that my parents got for me on my ??? b'day....not sure which. I was young, maybe 10?

Lorettta, so sorry about your tree situation. I've been so lucky to have cats that are not interested at all in Christmas trees.

Lolly, I'm so glad you are through "vooking" for today. LOL!

Lynne2 said...

Paula, I did what you suggested and sent it to myself. I haven't gotten it yet! UGH!

Lynne2 said...

OK, I got it and forwarded it....let's hope this works!

Lynne2 said...

well, it sort of worked, but the card didn't have the message where it was supposed too :(

hedgie said...

That's what I have to do, too, Lynne, Paula, Wanda. Send it to myself and then forward....weird quirk that we can't send it to the group----at least not from outside Yahoo.

Great joke, Darth!!!!! Thanks for sharing, and for taking good care of our Judie!!

I still have my emerald birthstone ring that I got for my 10th b-day, too! Stone is SO scratched and looks dull, tho'!

Punkin' bread out of oven and out of pans. Sure smells good!!

Joo, have a fun dinner with the gang!!

hedgie said...

Loretta, sorry about your tree. :(
