Hi Steve,

Thanks for the new thread!

I will tell the others.

Lolly said...

Hi Shirley!

Thanks Steve!

Well, guess what gang? Our company forgot. We invited them for six o'clock. The time arrived and passed. At 6:30 Jack went across the street and rang their doorbell. He just talked with Jim. They forgot and had just eaten. Jack and I have enjoyed our "orders" and we are about to sit down and eat. Think we will have this another time this week as well. Have done my neighborly thing. So much for that!

I did ask Jack if he acted embarrassed. Jack replied "You know him....no." He is loud and crass.

Mema Jo said...

So happy you returned,Steve!
We are back from a really good dinner! I had carrot cake for dessert & hubby ate some of it. Ask me anything about our dinner - I remember it all! Whoo Hoo!

Not so good Eagle news

Jo, I really do need some vanilla ice cream to go with the pie. C'mon up.

Glad you had a wonderful dinner, Jo, and good memory of it!!
Very sad story about the eagles.

Lolly, not only crass but rather socially impaired, as well. Geesh!
No second invitation!!

Posting this again in case anyone coming in doesn't check old thread:
From Hawk Mountain: we continue to celebrate every Bald Eagle that passes Hawk Mountain: So far, counters have tallied 354 eagles this season. With 37 more days to go, what do you think will be our season total? As reminder, the previous Bald Eagle season record was 245!

Isn't that amazing???

Lynn, we went to the Hawk 'n Dove Restaurant.

Hawk 'n Dove.

We were cold and found a table next to the fireplace, which was nice. I have had tastier food, but it was filling.

Happy anniversary, Jo and Ed. Congratulations!

Lolly, I don't know how anyone could forget dinner with Lolly and Jack. But, all things considered, maybe you should count it among your blessings.

stronghunter said...

Wow, Dana. You have quite a list.

Good Evening again on new thread!!
Lynne, yes, that is the same eagle! About 40 pics were taken of it! That avatar pic is the best straight on view of bird, except for blinking it's eyes!!!!
I make most T'Days a dish called Apple Mallow Yam Yums. It has the tiny marshmallows, but I use the low sugar brown sugar in it. Has apple slices, canned yam chunks--fairly easy to make & everyone likes it.My stepson does not like sweet potatoes, but he likes these. Will try and remember to send or post. ☺
Eyeballs are not wanting to stay open, was Panda napping in chair, so if I don't return, Pleasant Feather Dreams of an eagle in the Park nest tomorrow!!!! ;>)

Look out Jo the Hawk and Dove if you bring up the menu has crab cakes and other yummy crab eats.

A Hawk burger....

Yikes Chesesecake $4.95 I think I skip dessert lol

Having me a nice hot cup of Internatinal Suisse Mocha cafe decaf. Oh this taste really good.

NatureNut said...

Wow, just read back and saw Shirley went to Hawk & Dove. I didn't know it was still there!Fubby and Senate cohorts went to lunch there many a time. His boss & wife invited some of us as couples to go there one night. I don't remember the food! LOL

Speaking of dinner, Lolly, I hope your neighbor doesn't ask for a doggy bag! Well you can always freeze some!
Bye, Hope Margy hasn't Gone With the Wind!

wvgal_dana said...

Lolly I read your comment about the neighbors. That they aren't you and Jack's type. I always think God brings people across our paths for a reason. May having nothing to do with her having cancer either. Sometimes he wants us to learn something from the other people. Then other times it has something HE (GOD) wants for the other people. I just know God does the bringing for whatever HIS reasons are.

wvgal_dana said...

Shirley that Hawk and Dove resturant menu is making me hungry. They certainly have enough good sounding things that would make it hard to choose. lol

Happy anniversary to Jo and Mr. Jo. Glad you had a nice dinner out.

Just stopping by for a very quick visit. Have been grading police assignments today and trying to prep for tomorrow's class. This time of year gets academically busy for me.

Lolly, I suspect it is just as well the "neighbors" forgot. I doubt it would have been an enjoyable evening. Count another blessing!

Shirley, glad you all had a nice time in the big city. Hawk & Dove is popular with "the Hill" people. Also glad you didn't have any mishaps in navigation.

Will be turning my light off in just a few. Leaving the night light on for others. Very sleepy tonight. Blessinga for all. Be back tomorrow.

hedgie said...

Great Decorah update, Paula!!

Still can't get the Lion cub cam to play for me... :(

Oh, my, Shirley, I had no idea the Hawk&Dove was still there!!!

Loretta, your yams sound good. Forgot again---what did Frank do at the Capitol??

hedgie said...

Yep, Dana, the restaurant is near the L of C---it's on 1st St. SE---which is where my daddy lived when he was a little boy. And my folks were living on 1st St. NE when I was born.

Good Evening and probably close to Good Night to those still here

winds had diminished by the time James and I worked that kite....it nose-dived rather than soared, but it was fun. There were about 40 Turkey Vultures flying on the thermals near us, made for interesting views of them.
We both saw Baby Moon, hope some of you folks did also

caught up on all posts, sorry about the disappointment at Hawkwood Gardens, Lolly & Jack, have a feeling the lady would have enjoyed it...without her hubby!

Well, wind still blowing here, but temps aren't too bad. Hope everyone has a good night and good weather tomorrow---no wind, no QUAKES!!! See all y'all in the morning. Prayers and peace.

Time to settle down and get a restful sleep - We turned the mattress since I

I keep forgetting to tell you about the 'woolly bear' I saw the other day.
You know his coloring are signs of the upcoming winter snows and cold weather...Well, he started with very dark fuzz (about 1/3) then went to the reddish orange coloring the rest of his body. Meaning winter will come in fiercely cold but then becomes mild. I hope it's right.

GOOD NIGHT MY FRIENDS

stronghunter said...

Hello,

Happened to wake up. Have been doing that recently.

Glad you enjoyed the kite flying with James, Margy.

Hope you got through lots of papers, Judie. I did not manage to do too much myself. I got stuck in a traffic mess on the way home and then did grocery shopping, so I was pretty tired when I got home.

They're working on Route 3 between here and Culpeper, and since they are on the 2-lane part of it, they are closing down one lane at a time. I sat for 30-45 minutes, waiting. It doubled my travel time. I need to get through there in the morning before they get started, otherwise I will be late for work.

stronghunter said...

Lolly, maybe the thing to do is to try to reach out to the wife who's ill in some way. It sounds as if she could use a kindness, especially if her husband is so socially unskilled.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,
Getting here very late tonight. Have been studying for my Algebra final exam tomorrow.
Haven't heard from SIL about the dogs--she was due home by noon the very latest, and was going to zoom to the vet with the dogs. Was on the cell phone talking with our oldest granddaughter, Jay, and a call came in on the house phone. Didn't pick it up, and probably should have, but we've had SO many telemarketer calls lately! They didn't leave a message, and I'm hoping that no news is good news. Both pooches were feeling better when I went home, and I hope that trend continued! Lynn, Lynne2, et al. who have commented about the bulldogs, I agree that mankind certainly has messed the poor critters up! These 2 have really sweet personalities, but they are definitely a bit of a health hazard.
Poor SIL has a lot of vet bills. Sure hope Charlee and Katy are doing better!

stronghunter said...

I left work this afternoon hoping that I would get home before dark. Alas, darkness fell while I was sitting in traffic.

Tomorrow, I have a meeting, so I might have another late arrival home.

stronghunter said...

Hi Andy,

Hope the doggies are much better. It sounds as if they've gotten gentle care from you.

Ms Bookworm said...

Lynn,
I find it very interesting that you thought you saw Cinnamon on the sofa. When our Siamese cat passed away decades ago, for several weeks afterward I would think I saw him, out of the corner of my eye. I think he may have been visiting to make sure we were OK. After a few weeks the "sightings" stopped. We were heartbroken about losing him, and I think he visited us until he was sure we would be all right without him.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hope I can get caught up better on the blog in the morning. My eyes don't want to focus too well right now. Think I've been reading for so long that they've decided it's time to quit.

The porch light is on, and I think Judie turned on the night light. Hafta do that earlier now, for sure!
Have said prayers for everyone, especially those who lost someone in Saturday's terrible accident. Prayers for Lolly & Jack's neighbors, too, AND for my SIL, BIL,and their bulldogs. Hope we all manage to get a restful night's sleep, and I'll talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]

Ms Bookworm said...

Oops--have turned on the eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security, too! Night, everyone!

Lynne2 said...

wee hours wake up!

Lynn, I'll just bet your heart skipped a beat when you thought you saw Cinny. Like you and Andy, and probably everyone who has lost a furry child, I've had the same thing happen :(

I see Shirley had a wee hours wake up too! That really sucks about the traffic mess.

Glad Wanda and Gene had a successful shopping adventure and relaxing day!

Hope the Bulldogs have gotten some meds for their ills. It really is a shame they have such health problems, but wow, they are SO sweet! I also never met one that wasn't just as funny and loveable as could be! Hard to resist those personalities!

Funny about the wooly bear Jo....because I read in Foot's Forecast for this winter that it would be likely worse, I think, in Dec, and then be more normal or milder later on! Glad you and Ed had a nice dinner for your 52nd! (and that you aren't sleeping in a hole!)

Lolly, I guess it was your neighbor's loss and your good evening alone with Jack by the fire!

and Margy...glad you and James had fun even without enough wind to fly a kite!

OK, heading back to bed. Hope I can get back to sleep. Nodded off pretty early tonight and sort of feel NOT tired. Prayers for all!

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

Lost my internet connection last night. Just popping on for a moment now. Want to beat the construction people this morning. A 45-minute delay would make me quite late to work.

stronghunter said...

Hope you got back to sleep, Lynne. I did, but I am sleepy now, even though I went to bed early.

Good Morning Eagle Pals

The pair was in the nest around 6:16, and left a little after 6:30.
They didn't do much but sit around and look around, no stick action

Maybe they will come back ☺

I heard a kingfisher, song sparrow and Flicker

Sounds like a nice outing yesterday , Wanda and Gene...

Best wishes for a good day everyone

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
It is a BEAUTIFUL morning, here in Nestville! 42° and SUNNY everywhere on our property...much of the leaves have fallen and the sun is able to get through:)
It's going up to 61°, pretty much like yesterday, which was beauteous! Might take GG for a ride, if she is willing. She doesn't want to leave the house very often now:( She is still doing fairly well, but tires very easily.

Just learned a new-to-me phrase from SHIRLEY..."Socially Unskilled"...I love it!! Will be using it often:) There are a lot of those types out there.
My thoughts about Lolly's situation are mixed. Perhaps the poor lady didn't feel like socializing. If she isn't feeling well and has just discovered her condition, she may be like GG, and not want to leave the comfort of her home, even for a short while:(
God bless her and help her Socially Unskilled husband to be understanding, patient and kind to her during her last days.

stronghunter said...

Amen, Wanda.

stronghunter said...

Prayers for the lady and for her socially unskilled husband.

Just finished putting together assignments for students who are suspended. Now, for the few remaining minutes, I can focus on those who are not suspended. (I guess I can just think that the suspended ones need me more, but that concept does not always satisfy. Perhaps I can help them avoid being socially unskilled.)

stronghunter said...

Perhaps.

stronghunter said...

Back to work . . .

wvgal_dana said...

Andy hope you hear the "bull doggies" are feeling
better.

Judie I can't help but laugh when you talk now about "grading police assignments". LOL I think
you might be the only person to ride at the Open House in a State Police car..well I know others
were with you. LOL it really cracks me up. It was so great meeting you and hubby. You brighten up ones day. (:

Margy sorry you and James didn't get the kite up.
Darn tv's one could have come down to help but no not like our eagles would have ha ha

Shirley doing work on RT 3 that's of course as you know is Rt. take for Lake of Woods. If that
keeps up you'll have to find something to read while you waiting there.
Shirley do you remember any Cooper from around Culpeper. Man and wife
older couple. She died years ago.

I think that might happen with cats maybe more than dogs. Tabitha visited us too. It would be
like out of the corner of my eye. I thought I seen her then turning to look where I thought I seen her not there. I am sure Lynn she is
visiting you until you are comforted by peace or when you get a puppy or cat. Then she will
wait for you at Rainbow Bridge. Her time for playing and having fun until you get there.

Jo "a sink hole" we can't have you sinking!!!!!
Hope your right about that "woolly bear". (:

Diann has a nice turkey avatar up.

Wanda is already Christmas shopping. Well I would have been too. Another year different. Glad you was able to catch some nice buys.

Lolly now I understand your no 2nd invite. Well maybe the lady needs a friend in her life at this time. Sometimes family of course are there for you. Although someone that is not family could be just what the DOCTOR ORDERED FOR HER.
Why not try when the husband is gone just to visit with her.
It has to be devastating thinking a new home and find you won't be there to build all the memories you was dreaming of. Plus having cancer.

wvgal_dana said...

Wanda I truly felt the Lord in what you was saying to Lolly this morning. About the lady that didn't visit them last night. AMEN to what you said....sending prayers that maybe Lolly will reach out to her.

I have had the lioncub cam up for awhile. Nothing and then all of a sudden in runs two little ones chasing each other. Wish they would move the cam so could see them more.

Hi, Gang,
Have been up for a while, and am attacking the huge pile of sorted laundry to try to put a dent in it.
Am studying Algebra and practicing different types of problems to try to become more "comfortable" with them. Still have trouble with temperature conversion from Farenheit to Celsius.
Guess more practice may finally cement the formula in my brain.
Speaking of temperatures, it's only 46 degrees here this morning! FINALLY feels like fall weather! I'm loving the fact that I need a jacket.

wvgal_dana said...

Lion cubs chasing each other be patient for them to come into the room but be ready !! LOL

Shirley, about the students who were suspended...are they students that you had to have suspended or are they from other classes? Seems that there must not be enough hours in a day for you. No wonder you are exhausted when you get home!

ha ha Andrea, 46 Celsius or Fahrenheit! I'm guessing it is 78 degress F there ! (not really guessing, I just rechecked the formula myself)

I know you will get that formula down pat!

Hoping that this weekend I will have time to type up the 2-page letter we got from the Orange County Water District in Dec. of 2008. It explains the Reconfiguration Project they are now working on at the Santa Ana River a couple of blocks from our house. Will post it in our momsters e-mail when I'm done. It's WAY too long to put here! They will be creating a sandbar island for nesting shorebirds, which sounds like a great idea to me! They mention the California Least Tern, Forester Tern, and the Black Skimmer. Hubby & I have seen pelicans there in years past, too. They are removing non-native trees and vegetation, and planting native species, and figure the natives will be established and self-sufficient in 5 years.

magpie said...

intersesting to compare the cam view from November 9 last year with November 9 this year...

I just put it on Magpie's Roost... had labeled "Nest Like a Heart" at the time ♥

Now they are on 2 other cams running in and out. You can even see the difference in some of them their markings. I'm just keeping all the cams up so I can watch them. LOL I don't think I am getting any work done.

Margy I see the one from last year would be neat to take pic of this years. Put on there too. To see difference.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Margy,
Nope, it's 46 Farenheit! Amazing, isn't it! Oh--oops! Need to make some coffee and start an IV, I guess. I mean CENTIGRADE, not Celsius. OK, here is the FYI from me for the day:

To convert a Farenheit temperature to Centigrade, do the following: a.)Subtract 32 b.) Multiply by 5 c.)Divide by 9

To convert Centigrade to Farenheit, do the following:
a.) Multiply by 9 b.)Divide by 5
c.) Add 32

Phew! I need some coffee. Be right back.

hedgie said...

Good Tues. AM. I'm here Jo---no puter problems on my end!! Still suspect that it is a Verizon problem.....tho' don't know who Suz's server is....when they attempt to resend, it comes through fine. Go figure!

hedgie said...

Thanks, all, for not calling me crazy for "seeing" Cinnamon! Loving spirits welcome here!

Shirley, too bad that you have to mess with those assignments. Here, if a kid is suspended for any length of time, they have to go to an alternative school designed just for the miscreants!

hedgie said...

Dana, Shirley plays "talking books" while she drives!!!

Andy, that sounds great about the remedial project!

Ms Bookworm said...

Yes, Lynn, and I think I'm going to walk over there once my finals are over with, and see if I can get a couple of pictures. They have a chain link fence covered with solid green fabric around the whole thing so you can't see inside, but I'll figure something out!

Good afternoon, everyone.

Glad you made it to work early, Shirley. What a hassle to be stuck in traffic after a day of work.

Margy, so happy you had some James time. Flying kite or not. Happy "do" day!

Andy, sounds as if you have your hands filled to overflowing with school, sick pups, and an upcoming project.

Lynn, and others, after our female Siamese (Lily) died, her brother (Koko) would suddenly wake up and look toward the bedroom door, sniff, and go back to sleep. After he died, nearly a year later, I would often wake up near dawn and think I saw them both, side-by-side, sitting just outside the bedroom door. That lasted several months.

Jo, hope you're having a good daughter day. Enjoy!

Hi Dana, Jim, and Lynne.

Got the lion cam up but no action. Watched for about 15 minutes. Need to check again later and try to get the owl cam again. No eagle sighting for me, either. Maybe around dinner time.

Almost time to head home. BBL

hedgie said...

Yes, Jim, isn't BWE great??

Hope our new cam is that good!
Just hope we don't have to see duct tape on the tree!

Hi, Judie. Good to see you. It's nice to think that our late loved ones, human or pet, check in on us from time to time.

Remember how we helped Bob Quinn win a contest or two....... We can do that
for Glo!

Please vote daily
The link is on my comment at 12:03..

hedgie said...

No email from you Dana. But it doesn't matter. I have tried everything and it's just no use. Some of the zoo cams will open and some won't. Makes no sense.

Jo, those vote thingies from FB require APPS, and I don't do APPS, so can't vote. Sorry.

Judie said...

Hi Jo, can't do the vote as I don't have FB access. Will wish that Glo's picture of Dexter wins big time.

Can't believe I forgot to share this with everyone. Yesterday, late morning, a doe and her twins browsed around our yard for about 15 minutes. Was a great pleasure. She was nervous but the babes were happy.

Going to head to the cardiologist office in a few. Meet with a P.A. who will, no doubt, want me back on drugs. Will have to have some serious conversation about that.

BBL

Mema Jo said...

Good luck Judie - Convince those docs that they need to convince you of your need for any drug(s).......

Lynn I'm sorry you can't vote.....
I guess I have what you don't ???

Lolly said...

Judie, it is time for you to get on fb. LOL

Jack has agreed to make something for gifts. Yea! They love to receive his things. You know what intarsia is now...."It", now known at the eagle, Palmer, that Paula won. Well, Jack does a scarecrow intarsia that is so cute. So, he is now making scarecrows. I will take a picture and post it. They will love that.

Lolly said...

Just thought of the recipe. I will go type it and send it through the momster mail.

Lolly said...

Wish I had deer in my yard. Oh, I know, I would probably scream when they started chowing down on my plants.

Lolly said...

Was just watching the panda cam. Got a good look at the baby. Then someone stuck what looked like a dish of water in to Lun. She might have gotten a drink, hard to tell, but the baby shifted. She picked it up and turned her back to the window as if to say..."leave us alone!"

hedgie said...

WhooHoo!!!! I've been approved!!! I will be adopting Trixie!!! Still no sooner, date-wise, but I've been selected to be her human momma!!!

stronghunter said...

Congratulations, Lynn!!!

Mema Jo said...

Well I guess I have APPS (?) I can vote

Here is a new eagle cam from Lake of the Ozarks in MO. The nest is right in the landowners back yard (lucky them!!) and when they are around, they will zoom in with the cam.

http://webpages.charter.net/jray59/

hedgie said...

Jo, it's not an access problem---other than the fact that doing that vote is an APP which allows them to share your info with Lord knows who....so I don't do them or any games.

Judie, make them convince you WHY you need drugs and what benefits they will have AND the side effects!
Glad you had some deer visiting.....I just love them.

Lolly, who will the scarecrow intarsia be for? The extended family or for the boys?

stronghunter said...

I have an English Dept. meeting today. Hope I don't get caught in another traffic mess. My dept. chair, Melanie got stuck yesterday, too. She must have been in the same back-up I was in.

stronghunter said...

Block 4 is over for another day. They were halfway reasonable.

hedgie said...

Jo, wonder if they do a close-up view when the time comes at that Ozarks nest? Windy there, too!

Lolly said...

The scarecrows will be for my sister, Jack's sister, and our sister in law.

Wahoo, Lynn! Excited for you, but we knew you would be approved. My goodness, there is no place that would be a better home! And, what a momma you are going to be! We will be expecting baby pics as well as daily updates. LOL

Oh, and won't you have fun with house training during the winter. We had to do that once. Have cute pics of our puppy in the snow!

Mema Jo said...

Congratulations Lynn on your new
motherhood! Trixie is surely a cutie!
I am anxious to meet her once she settles in.

Now for your call concerning the OBX

Good evening,

Suspended students--One has been suspended for five days. He requested assignments today. Is supposed to return tomorrow. Nothing like waiting until the last minute.

The other one was supposed to be in in-school-suspension. She worked out a deal with the assistant principal, so she came to class today. Now, she will be in in-school-suspension for my class tomorrow. So, guess who has to write another lesson for her?

Can't tell you how many times they don't pick up the requested work. Sometimes they even claim that they asked for it and you haven't put it there for them.

Yes, I was thankful that I had a book to listen to while I sat in traffic.

The in-school suspension was because of something the girl did in my class. Took out a cell phone and refused to give it to me. I told her to take it to the office if she didn't want to let me have it. She went to the office and told the administration that I did not see a phone. (I did. I do no imagine cell phones.) The other kid screamed and cursed at a teacher. (Not me.)

stronghunter said...

Sorry about the scattered thoughts in my previous message. My brain is coming apart at this point.

stronghunter said...

I do not imagine cell phones.

stronghunter said...

Yay, I got final Jeopardy!

Costume Lady said...

Shirley, do you think the students take advantage of you because of your sweet face and disposition? They may think you are a push-over. You need to put a frown on when you walk into class and speak in a deep and stern voice;)

Lolly said...

Think I am going to put my nose in a book this evening. Have not accomplished much today. Better get with it tomorrow.

The name you mentioned for the pup is not one you picked, Lynn? I thought that was what you were going to name her. Still wanting to see a picture.

1.The cute blue/green bee I posted awhile back is a cuckoo wasp. Not quite sure of genus & species because pic of one similar is in WA State?, but know it's Family.
2.Searched closets for clothes to wear tomorrow. Not the usual, as we're going on a field trip. Thought it was lunch for all, but was told a museum!!!Lovely young girl who worked w/us years ago, then married, quit after having a baby. Daughter is now 7!!!& our temp. leader was able to get her back for 2 days a week, so the 4 of us will go!!!!It's been years.
We still have No real director & they are not interviewing yet. Our boss retired in Feb!!!

Judie said...

Jo, not one of us has what you have...go girl!

Lynn, I am so very, very happy for you. Little Trixie is one lucky pup. Cannot imagine finding a better mom and home to grow in.

Well, it seems Lolly and Jack have a somewhat confusing family. Jacks' sister is Lolly's sister and both Jack and Lolly's sister-in-law. Very close-knit family.

Lolly. I figure what little the deer can eat will not really destroy well-established shrubs. It's worth it to have them stop by every now and then. They really are so beautiful up close. Just don't understand how anyone can hunt deer (or bear or any animal).

Oh Shirley, you are so in denial. We know you did not REALLY see a cell phone. Cell phone hallucination are not uncommon for teachers. Have had a few of my own.

Dinner over so headed for the t.v.

Oh, all my test results were great except for HDL and blood pressure. I did agree to try a new cholesterol med. for three weeks. Then reassess. Then consider blood pressure med. P.A. wants to do this the way I bbq -- low and slow. Very different approach. Prior drs. just had me start 5 different meds all at once. MTBR

I was so happy to discover that there was no traffic issue today.

hedgie said...

Trixie is the name the rescue gave her. I will probably change it because I have already had a Trixie 39 yrs. ago. Just doesn't seem quite kosher to usurp her place in my heart/memory. I will probably look foran oriental sounding name, which would only be fitting for a Pei! Maybe I can name her after a PANDA!

stronghunter said...

I don't doubt that I am sometimes too nice.

stronghunter said...

I am sure you will come up with a beautiful name, Lynn.

stronghunter said...

Asministrator wanted to know what color the phone was. I don't know. it was dark because we were watching a movie. I saw the glow of the screen.

stronghunter said...

Thank goodness you got a good report, Judie.

stronghunter said...

That's the glow of the cell phone screen.

hedgie said...

Judie, didn't know there was a cholesterol med to raise HDL! Statins have not proven effective; Vit. B1 can help. Aerobic exercise, wt. loss, lowering transfats, increased fiber and omega-3 acids, slight alcohol consumption: those are the effective means!

stronghunter said...

About to head upstairs.

Hunter's football team's picture was in the paper, but I can't find it online. It is in the local (Spotsylvania) edition of the Free Lance-Star. Kathryn is going to scan it.

LOL Guess I was not exactly clear...the SIL is my brothers wife. One for my sister, one for Jack's sister, and one for my brothers wife. Ta Da......!

Was going to get my do done, too, however I have not been able to reach, Barbara, my hair dresser. Well, she finally did answer her phone. She fell while I was gone and broke her hip. She suggested two girls in her shop. One can not do it and the other was not in today. Help! Guess I could go for a pony tail or braids. :)

Margy, you're still too kind!Love what your hairdressers are doing. I never got mine cut yet!But if I use a lot of hair spray maybe I can see where I'm going!!

Judie, Judie, Judie----love the new drug approach! Start w/2. I take both those now---totatl chol. count is way down, but HDL should be higher. I wonder if that's why we had to take cod liver oil when we were little kids???Yuck! (And don't think they knew what chol. was!)
Gonna putz around in the kitchen & maybe see some TV~~~

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,
Just got home from school about 30 minutes ago. Have been trying to get caught up on the latest here.
Lynn,
WOW! Congratulations! Am SO HAPPY that you are going to be a puppy mom again! Trixie is going to be the happiest puppy imaginable! Hope you are able to get her sooner than originally stated! Glad your own vet will do the spaying.

I HAVE FANTASTIC NEWS ABOUT SIL's BULLDOGS! As soon as she got home yesterday, she took them to the vet in Riverside who specializes in bulldogs. He took one look at them, and sent someone running to get a cortisone injection for each of them!
He also has both on antibiotics, because their hives that got scratched open have a staph infection going on. BUT--HERE'S THE BEST PART:
When my SIL got up this morning, BOTH the dogs were bouncing around like puppies, with NO HIVES!! They feel just great! They are feeling like nothing had ever happened to them! I am SO relieved! Thank GOD! And thank all of you, for your prayers for Charlee and Katy!

Ms Bookworm said...

Want to thank all of you for your school prayers for me, too! I think I actually did OK on my ALGEBRA Final Exam tonight! Wow, it's amazing what prayers can do! Thank GOD!

And MORE good news! My friend's husband, who was in the 18-wheeler accident, got to go home from the hospital yesterday! He will start physical therapy next Monday, and go to it 3 days a week. Thank GOD again!

Ms Bookworm said...

I'm glad that Judie had a good report from the Dr. today! Am so very happy that the PA wants to be conservative with the BP meds! About 3 years ago they tried one on me that left me about 1 step above a drooling coma patient! Will never take THAT one again! Had me so dizzy I saw stars if I stood up quickly, too. YUCK! It just pays to be careful.
Glad, too, Judie, that you had a deer sighting! Wish we lived far enough out of town to see some, but not a chance here. Have lots of other critters, though, so can't complain.

Ms Bookworm said...

AHA! I was able to go on Facebook and vote for Glo's picture of Dex!
Lynn, I have changed all my privacy settings so only friends can see my info.

Well, it's pretty late, so think I will call it a day.

May have quite a project tomorrow. Must try to get a certified copy of our oldest granddaughter's birth certificate for her from the L.A. County Clerk's office in Norwalk. May try calling them first to see if they will let me purchase one. She wants to get one ASAP. The copy she has is not certified. If I can get one for her, I can overnight it to her. Probably lots faster than if she orders it by mail.

Well, I don't think Judie mentioned turning on the night light. The sandman must have ambushed her when she least expected it! I'll turn on the night light, and the porch light, and enable the eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security. Prayers have been said for all needs, and prayers of thanks have been going up for prayers answered, too. Sleep well, friends, and I'll talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]
