Good morning, everyone.

Thank you, Steve, for the new thread. Have a lovely sunshiny day.

Judie said...

It is a most beautiful day in the neighborhood. Ah, if only this could be year-round.

Lazy this a.m.

Glad Lolly and Jo and Paula all had nice family times.

Lynn, sorry about the farewell party. She is well out of that environment and good riddance.

Dana, will check out the new Shatner show.

Very concerned about research bears. There are so many people today without conscience or a sense of what is ethical. Serious prayers that no research bears are killed.

Finished coffee and newspaper. Now to do some reading.

wvgal_dana said...

Thanks Judie for the call over.

Steven thank you for taking the time to give us a New Thread.

Still see an osprey at BWO and the one at Washington State is now in the nest

Something just hit our cam!

Thanks for the new thread Steve. Hope you have a nice couple of days off!

Just heard a couple of clunks.

hedgie said...

Got a new note from June, Karen's friend:
Hi Lynn,

Thanks for your concern. Karen's thrush is finally gone, thank God! She
has some good days and some not so good. We finally got her mom in an
assisted Living facility. It's a very nice place and I think she's finally settled
down. She was trying to escape!

Karen only had 1 round of chemo, she decided after being so sick from it
that she wanted some quality time. I think she made the right decision, the
chemo really knocked her down.
I'm hanging in there, I just want to make sure she has good days and I cherish
every second of time with her!
Thanks Lynn for the prayers and to the momsters, we need them and they do help!
hugs back to you all!
June

wvgal_dana said...

Thanks Lynn-Hedgie for the update on Karen. Relieved that they got her Mother settled. That has to take some stress off of Karen and June.

I hear moving around our cam again.

wvgal_dana said...

Hedgie-Lynn are they still having problems at the airshow?

Mema Jo said...

I almost missed your call over Judie.
I got caught up on FB - I love looking at Friends' Albums.

Thanks Steve - I hope your sitting on a mountain top with your laptop!

So very happy, Lynn that June sent you that message. I had just sent another card to Karen to let her know she was in our prayers.

Well - I guess from now on when the Error page comes up I best check to
make sure my comment didn't make it -
I deleted my duplicate! lol

Mema Jo said...

For all not on FB - Megan thinks this may be the last market for this season for her. The dry season has everything to do with her decision.
I asked her if the Pumpkin Patch was her next venture before the Christmas wreaths - they are usually ready the
Sat or Sun (?) right after Thanksgiving.

Mema Jo said...

Did it again Service error- 503
But I checked and comment made it over.

Wish the blogger glitch would take a hike....

Mema Jo said...

Sounds like good advice for all - I am going to take a hike in the beautiful
sunny cool out of doors.

Haven't hear anything egregious so far today, Dana! Golden Knights (Army parachute team) are performing now---or just finished.
Some people affected by heat. A lost---but found---13 y.o.!! He was found in the kids tent!

wvgal_dana said...

That was certainly good kid was found and ok.

Hiking out myself Mema Jo. Loved all those pictures. So glad you shared them with us. Now I just have to put together. Who is married to who and if they have children.

I have to say "WHAT A GENEALOGY!!

later gators

hedgie said...

Now there's a missing 88 y.o. man.

Just had a bird strike---saw this one fly away! Looked like a jay.
Cards and robins are b-u-s-y today----strutting and flapping. Probably trying to find worms/grubs and there probably aren't any near the surface of my desert! Acorns are mature, falling and plentiful. ARGH!

hedgie said...

Can't believe the way the leaves are already turning. Don't know if due to drought, or if Sept. calendar turned off the chlorphyll! They are falling, too.

Wonder what Lynne2 is doing? Maybe they went camping for the weekend---good weather to do that for sure!

Lolly said...

Helloooo!

Did not have time to get on the blog this morning before church. I had to get out and do major repairs to the lawn. Armadillo struck last night...full force. Grrrr! Jack goes hunting...no holes, Jack sleeps....major holes. They see him coming!
Got my cook in the kitchen preparing more "orders" for today at Michael's. Had a great time at Laurel's with Joey's relatives, but just our family today at Michael's.

Have turned the AC back on, warm weather has returned, but possible showers this next week and more cooler temps.

Lolly said...

Lynn, I do not know why they do not make it illegal to shoot collared bears. It has me worried too about the bears. Almost fearful of the updates. Concerned about the researches, too. Hope they have bright colors on as well.

Judie said...

Quick visit.

Glad the teen was found and hope the elder was also -- maybe also at the childrens tent.

Have seen a few yellow/orange leaves falling here for about two weeks. Figured it was due to lack of rain. Still, can't help but anticipate cooler weather. Sick of the heat and humidity.

Windows open. So nice to have a fresh breeze and I think I can actually smell the sunshine. So nice!

Lynn, thanks for the update on Karen and June. Will send along another "thinking of you" card in a day or two.

Off to put dry rub on ribs and make bbq sauce. BBL

Mema Jo said...

Anyone know what Wanda's costume shop is listed as on the web........

hedgie said...

Jo, I don't know if Wanda has a website. The shop is called Countryside Costumes, I think, but no luck searching.

hedgie said...

I am getting that 503 Service error a lot, too! But things still psot. Duh!

hedgie said...

Judie, enjoy your ribs!
I'm doing bacon-wrapped shrimp!

Lots of dehydration cases being treated on-scene at airshow. Time for the Thunderbirds to perform again......that will pretty much wrap it up for this year.

hedgie said...

Lolly, so sorry about your yard. Maybe you need to call a trapper!!

hedgie said...

Burn ban didn't go into effect soon enough----brush fire about a mile down the road from me. :(

GooD Day to you,

Folks.

Hopin you're having a great weekend. I slept in myself and then got hung up in the golf playoff .. FedEx, Boston.

So, I guess it's almost dinner time back East, eh?

I think the adult female just showed up at BWO. I thought she was long gone. Emailing to Lisa now.

Judie said...

Because of the service error, I've started making a copy then deleting it if the message posts. Annoying!

Bacon-wrapped shrimp would be just a good. Haven't done those for a while. Maybe next weekend.

Never can understand why people don't take a bottle of water with them for outdoor events, especially since bottled water is so available.

Hope the brush fire keeps its distance and doesn't do any damage.

Lolly, a trapper might be a good idea. Also I wondered if the armadillo(s) can hear/sense the vibration when Jack goes out. Maybe go out early and sit quietly.

Hi Jim. Hi Jo and Dana. How were your hiking adventures in today's glorious weather?

Judie said...

Lphants playing in the pond. So cute.

hedgie said...

Lost our cam---anyone else? Says it's unavailable.

hedgie said...

Judie, they weren't allowed to bring anything in with them---it was on the military base! But PLENTY of vendors, and I'm sure they all sold H2O!

hedgie said...

Jim, one of the osprey has been making fairly regular appearances at BWO!
Yep, dinner going on the grill now!

Mema Jo said...

Going out to get a Frostie....

hedgie said...

Is that an appetizer or a dessert, Jo?? I'll take one, please, for dessert!

paula eagleholic said...

Live feed is on...

Can't believe they wouldn't let people bring in water...I know they were selling it...but still...

paula eagleholic said...

I am doing kebabs on the grill, peppers, onions, mushrooms, spicy sausage...over rice.

I was being lazy, watched a movie for a couple of hours.

NatureNut said...

Evening Everyone. Earlier, seems I got caught on old thread after new one opened!
Never signed out & minimized Comments & Blogger still wanted me to sign in and tried to make addition to picture label & kept getting that Error 503 on everything!!!Blogger must be on vacation! LOL
Beautiful day---did yard chore fun & didn't go to work. Can go Mon. One other lady will probably come in also.
Saw an adult house wren earlier in the tree on favorite branches near the house!!Humm...and Shorty just came by for peanut dinner and got water from birdbath even tho he has his own dish!! ☺
Decided to come in when mosquitoes started to attack, even tho I have spray outside and people several houses up are picnicking out w/radio blasting. Isn't there a decibel level law????
Just heard on news that worker very close to here had ditch cave-in over him, but he was rescued quickly and OK.
Gonna warm up some corned beef, etc. Have a great evening ☺ ~~~

NatureNut said...

Dana, if you come back, I don't know another name for lantana. I just love it--many varied colors and a favorite of butterflies and hummingbirds. It's an annual here, but stays alive further south. I have brought pots and kept them in the basement over winter, but that's pretty tough---very heavy & cats love to knock leaves off.
The hummingbird clearwing moth is on milkweed. That was at Park Garden.
Later~~~

Mema Jo said...

Error 503 is today's special!

Frosty was part of the meal! Lynn, it would have melted and been just an old milkshake by the time I got to Hedgesville.......... lol

Paula - watching a movie is not being lazy - it is relaxing!

Mema Jo said...

Paula See what a little relaxation does for you! lol

hedgie said...

Got cam back and thought I heard clunking, but short-lived and nothing in sight. Is it just me, or does the nest look smaller? I think the sides have been falling off. Don't see any of Jo's turtle shells, either. But CAN see the web becoming visible already in the dusk....sure wish something would eat it's maker.

hedgie said...

Paula, base security rules for the airshow were pretty much like airline rules!

hedgie said...

Loretta....that ditch guy is critical at Baltimore Shock Trauma. :(

hedgie said...

Paula, that song was Carolyn's favorite when she was about 3. Have a pic of her dancing to it on, and I still have the 45 rpm of it that we had bought her!!!

hedgie said...

KC and the Sunshine Band! Wow, that came to me out of the blue!! I'm pretty sure that's who did it!!

paula eagleholic said...

It sure was, Lynn!!

Popped into my head when I saw our nest shaking!

paula eagleholic said...

Jo, the move was relaxing! It was good. Hadn't ever seen it before, it was 'Inside Man'. Denzel Washington, Jodie Foster, about a bank robbery. Very good movie!

paula eagleholic said...

Did ya'll see Shirley's link on FB about the Shark in the Potomac River?

Mema Jo said...

What do they say about people that can remember a song performer (KC & the Sunshine band)of 40 years ago but can't remember where they put their car keys an hour ago.... LOL

stronghunter said...

Hi, Paula,

Shark in Potomac

Here is the link for anyone who doesn't have FB.

stronghunter said...

My students were having fit over the fact that I'm on FB. I assured them that I do not friend students.

Boy, would they be disappointed if they could read what I have posted there. And, do they want me to read their stuff?

Judie said...

I WANNA FROSTIE!

Yes, I know water is sold but still...water should be allowed.

Hope you enjoyed the kabobs, Paula. Also, with your schedule, you deserve some "lazy."

Yep, KC and The Sunshine Band -- I think one of my very most favorites. Was single and into disco dancing. Great fun. Drive myself to a disco, meet friends, dance, drive myself home. No muss no fuss.

Tried to sit outside for a few minutes to watch the birds and squirrels. Nearly eaten alive by mosquitoes. Came in, Calamine, then dinner.

Prayer that the ditch accident man will be okay!

Jo, it is said we are busy, very very busy. Now, let me just find my car keys -- BBL

paula eagleholic said...

That shark was caught right where my Mom's cabin was. I knew exactly where they were talking about. If you click on the links in the story, you can see the whale that was in the bay earlier this year, too. Thanks, Shirley.

paula eagleholic said...

Eagle our nest! Rats, just left!

paula eagleholic said...

Up in the tree!

paula eagleholic said...

I only got about 5 seconds of video! I was tending the grill and came back in and there he/she was!

paula eagleholic said...

I think it was Lib!

Mema Jo said...

Shirley BE certain that you have your security for Friends Only. However I can see photos and read their wall and I am not their friend.... However on other that I am NOT their friend -I can't see zelch..... How do you mark your account for that..........

Mema Jo said...

Lib the speed demon - he did that the other evening. Don't know exactly what he is checking out. I have yet to spot them in the day time.

Mema Jo said...

Paula - hubby remembered the movie and he really enjoyed it. Are you set to
watch Rubicon at 9:00?

Mema Jo said...

stronghunter said...

Just changed my security setting, Jo. Good idea. I did have "friends of friends."

paula eagleholic said...

OK, got the video on the EM blog...all 7 seconds of it!

paula eagleholic said...

Yup Jo, all set for Rubicon, followed by Mad Men!

paula eagleholic said...

Clunkity clunk clunk tappity tap

stronghunter said...

Something very bright on the nest cam. Is is something caught in the web? Windy there.

stronghunter said...

I heard the clunks, too, Paula.

paula eagleholic said...

Jo, what is interesting on Rubicon is that David and the dead guys wife have no clue that each other is investigating his death.

Mema Jo said...

Paula - that tail end of Lib's visit
was excellent!

Mema Jo said...

Also Paula, David has no idea that the secretary is his boss' snitch!

NatureNut said...

Back for a sec~~~Lynn, thx for update on accident. I didn't really hear the end of the report, just that they got him out.

BOO, I missed Lib, but thank you, Paula, for a glimpse.
Some kitchen chores, need to phone TX, and of course, Nascars are running around the Atlanta track!!
VAROOM

paula eagleholic said...

Ah yes, that was an interesting revelation last week.

stronghunter said...

Kids wanted to know if I would friend them after they graduate. I think I might have one former student who was in my class on my friends list, and she is 39 or 40 years old now.

I have several who were students in the school and friends of my children who are about the same age. They live pretty calm lives now, but they are not from the area where I teach now, nor were they ever. They are old enough to be parents of high school kids.

stronghunter said...

I haven't watched Rubicon.

stronghunter said...

It does sound interesting.

stronghunter said...

Speaking of FB, I found our principal on a list. I will not tell the students that.

stronghunter said...

One teacher at our school has set up a FB account for her students to communicate with one another about assignments.

stronghunter said...

If I do that kind of thing, I think I would make it a blog.

Mema Jo said...

Going to get ready for TV - a few small chores before 9:00

BBILW

hedgie said...

Jo....I didn't lose my keys!!!! I think that was Shirley!!

Saws the FB post about the shark last week......sent it to Mits in an email!

LOL, Judie....if we could see ourselves in those dosco days, we probably wouldn't believe it!!

I had already shut down cam because of Boris!! Will check your clip, Paula!

hedgie said...

Okay---that WAS quick! Looking good, tho'. Fed the fish while I was there!

hedgie said...

Spent over an hour on the phone with Christie. She got her new computer today---she got a notebook. Won't be ready for pick-up until the end of the week from Best Buy.

Evonitz Survivor

Interesting story about the young woman who survived after being kidnapped by the serial killer who had lived and killed three girls in Spotsylvania.

stronghunter said...

I have just gotten around to gathering up some old newspapers and happened to see the story.

stronghunter said...

I had visited the home of one of the young girls who was being stalked by Evonitz while he was doing his stalking. It was the daughter of one of my fellow teachers

stronghunter said...

The police found notes about the girl in his possessions.

stronghunter said...

Keys? Yes I had lost my keys some time ago, but I eventually found them in the trunk of my car.

Lynn, did you have to wait a long time for the video to load at the Momsters' site?

hedgie said...

Thank goodness your fellow teachers' daughter didn't become one of the slain victims, Shirley. Remember the Lisk sisters story.
Well, congrats to this brave young lady!

hedgie said...

I'm sure that she had to pass extra psychological screening in order to become an officer, given the circumstances.

stronghunter said...

She is very impressive, isn't she?

stronghunter said...

I thought of what the sheriff told you about women cops. It is good that things have changed since then.

stronghunter said...

Yay, I finally got my eagle fix! Thanks, Paula.

stronghunter said...

Yes, Lynn, I talked with the teacher after the story broke. He said that the reporter showed up with the police officer who came to his home to tell him about what they knew.

hedgie said...

Yes, SHirley, I wish her lots of satisfying years in her new profession.

Bears are safe so far!
Bear Update

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Shirley and Lynn,

We just got home a few minutes ago from SIL & BIL's house. Had to bring the bulldogs in for the night.
We took a pizza over there with us, a thin-crust BBQ chicken pizza, and I made a big salad and put it in a gallon bag. When ready to eat, add dressing and shake! Works very well.

The weather here today was heaven on earth! Had our marine layer back this a.m., and it was much cooler, with a nice cool breeze.
Perfect!

Thanks for the update about Karen. Will continue to pray for her and her mom, and for June.

Well, Hubby wants me to watch some TV with him. Think I'll turn on the porch light and the night light. Prayers said for everyone--including the guy who had the ditch collapse on him!

Sleep tight, and I'll talk to you tomorrow. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are both enabled. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]

stronghunter said...

Thanks, Lynn. So glad that the bears are safe so far.

stronghunter said...

Hi, Andy.

Nice weather here, too.

hedgie said...

It is getting quite chilly out...down to 61 already...possibly going down to upper 40's. IT'S TOO EARLY!

hedgie said...

Hi, Andy....Bye, Andy! We had that kind of weather today, too! Glad you are having a relaxing weekend.
I just can't get used to the idea of chicken and BBQ on a pizza----definitely not for me! I also don't like chicken in my Mexican food!

Costume Lady said...

I LOVE chicken any way but raw!

hedgie said...

Well, gang, the race is dragging on....only good thing is that Jr. IS in the top ten at the moment......probably won't last. Time for news. Going to say my goodnights now. Talk to you tomorrow. Hope all Labor Day plans are fun and relaxing ones. Prayers for all.

NatureNut said...

Back & just talked to TX!Not as cool there, of course, but had been better than heat wave time. Daughter said they are starting to get more hummers, but they aren't real hungry as they chase each other away from feeders.Later, when travelers are hungry, they sit nice and share!☺ She will get up to 12 at a time.
Nascar race is STILL going on. Think I'll find something else interesting & surf to see who's ahead.
Getting late, so for all hitting the hay Pleasant Feather Dreams ;>)
Prayers for Diann's BIL & Karen & all in need

Good morning.

Reading last night's late comments reminded me of watching the Waltons. Expected Lolly to say "Goodnight, John Boy"

Happy Labor Day. I am already laboring with laundry started. Enjoyed a lazy weekend.

Bear update. Positive but still worrisome.

Not much on the calendar for today. Need to review some material for tomorrow's class but mostly will catch up on laundry/ironing for the week.

Going to read Shirley's post. One of my police officer students (Secret Service) lived in the area at the time. His observations were very interesting.

Ooops. Hear the laundry dinger. BBL
