Good morning Steve!

I will get the others.

I hope you are enjoying your Labor Day weekend.

stronghunter said...

I am waiting for Train to appear on Regis and Kelly. Can't miss that Train.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
This is a COOL morning, 58° and sunny, going up to a glorius 84°. Not too shabby for a Labor Day Holiday! Tomorrow, it will be 92°! So, all you Momsters and Dadsters in this area, enjoy today, tomorrow will be a little rough:)
Gene will be shopping today for Soup Kitchen food and I will be working in the shop. I just can't believe it is THAT time again.

We had a great time yesterday, watching the Pool Tournament in Berryville, Va. Dustin is quite good, but was up against some of the guys who taught him how to play, so I don't think he did as well as he would have liked. But, he is a GOOD sport and just enjoyed playing and was happy that we went over to watch:) Love that kid♥

Hope your Holiday is a good one!

Costume Lady said...

Oh, thanks, Shirley...will have to check that fella out:)

stronghunter said...

Hi Wanda!

I find it hard to believe it is that time of year, too.

stronghunter said...

Judie, you have e-mail.

hedgie said...

Good sad morning.
A terrible barn fire next to the race track in CharlesTown early this AM---fire chief says he thinks 41 horses lost. So sad.
Try this: Fire

SIL Shannon said when he left for work, the flmaes were 60 ft. high. Track is only about 6 blocks from their house.

hedgie said...

TV online report

stronghunter said...

That is truly sad, Lynn.

stronghunter said...

Regarding Evonitz, I am sure we crossed paths a number of times. When the story first broke, I talked to a cashier at a nearby grocery store and she said he shopped there. She remembered him as being very arrogant.

hedgie said...

Why doesn't that surprise me, Shirley? Ugh.

It was 47 here at 6:15. Up to 60 now.

I am just feeling so sick about these poor horses.

stronghunter said...

Yes, Lynn. It is tragic.

hedgie said...

Mei Lan formerly of Atlanta is celebrating her 4th birthday in Chengdu today. :) :(

hedgie said...

Latest tally for attendance at the airshow was 85,000......45,000 Sat. and 40,000 yesterday.

stronghunter said...

Happy birthday, Mei Lan

wvgal_dana said...

Good Morning so many already up in Eagle Land.

When I was going to post a bit ago. I was going to say nothing in nest. Then crawling about and up the web went spidey. Nothing is going to take that guy out!

So much from other thread to comment about. WOW!

Judie your comment about the 88 yr old "hope the elder was also--maybe also at the childrens tent". Now that is a classis Judie (:

Lynn get they get the brush fire under control?

Jim I have been reporting in comments an osprey at BWO. So have others. Thought maybe you seen comment....time zone too different probably.

I understand on the base not allowing people to bring in ANYTHING! Although I think they should have been handing out H2O freely.

wvgal_dana said...

Thank you Loretta for telling me about the lantana. Don't know if Megan sells it or not. Will have to check for next year.

Oh dear the man they got out of the ditch...Hedgie-Lynn says is critical.
Prayers for him, family, and his
co-workers. My Ed had a family person years back that worked construction.
Ditch caved in on him...let's pray
this guy lives!!

wvgal_dana said...

Thanks Shirley for the "Shark" link.

I wonder if Robinson is the first girl/lady now that something like this "serial killer and kidnapper". Has ever became a police officer??? GOOD FOR HER !!

Thanks Lynn glad bears are ok and
that they stay that way. (:

Lynn that is so sad horses lost.
TERRIBLE :(
Thanks Lynn for the link.

Happy Birthday Mei Lan !

stronghunter said...

I can imagine how shocked the person teaching that police class must have been to learn that the person in his example was sitting in the class.

stronghunter said...

BBL. Need to take care of chores.

Costume Lady said...

Those poor horses...how tragic. I guess with all that straw and hay in abundance, it wouldn't take long for a fire to get completely out of control:( Devastating for workers and owners, too.

Costume Lady said...

Don't know if this has been posted here yet, but I just saw it this morning. Too cute to miss:)

http://news.yahoo.com/video/world-15749633/raw-video-first-glimpse-of-japanese-twin-panda-cubs-21729717

hedgie said...

Sure hope that folks I know with racehorses did not have them at the track----don't think they do....
Wonder if the track will cancel today's racing card....
People on upper deck of Casino parking garage taking pictures have been ordered off by police.

hedgie said...

I was thinking the same thing, Shirley. He probably felt really bad about it. And can only imagine her feelings having to sit there and listen.

Dana, luckily brush fire was small and extinquished before it spread.

Wanda, we saw the pic last week....think I got it from FB.

Costume Lady said...

I sure do miss out on a lot by not being on here regularly. Miss being able to do that:( Maybe after the shop closes and some things in my life settles down!
Those baby pandas sure were jumpy!
Had forgotten how adorable they are:)

stronghunter said...

I believe he had presented her as a survivor, Lynn. So, maybe he didn't have any reason to feel bad. And, I hope she didn't feel too uncomfortable after all of the other publicity she had been through. She had been through. I remember a TV drama about her experience some years ago.

It was probably more of a surprise for the instructor. She might have expected it.

stronghunter said...

Oh, Wanda, such cute little baby pandas.

wvgal_dana said...

Lynn know you are working on your website. Did you see this
RESCUE

Mema Jo said...

I want to wish all you who labor a very relaxing day. The weather was made-to-order for everyone.
Lynn, that news just doesn't start the day off well - I am only grateful that no human lives were lost. But that many horses - such a tragedy.

hedgie said...

No, Dana....missed that article. Thank goodness they were rescued. I don't think I've ever even heard of that breed of draft horse...only familiar with Clydesdales and Percherons. Learn something new every day on this blog! TY.

Yes, Jo, it's a very sad day in CT/Ranson.

hedgie said...

It's up to 71° already....24°'s difference in less than 6 hrs.!

hedgie said...

Geesh.....Live with Regis&Kelly gave Train all of 3 minutes....whoop-de-doo!

hedgie said...

Nope....make it one minute. What was the point? Sure hope the live audience got to hear more than viewers did....didn't even get to finish the song. Rip-Off.

stronghunter said...

Wasn't very long, was it, Lynn. I didn't time it, though.

wvgal_dana said...

did anyone just hear a "sneeze" at our nest??????

hedgie said...

Sharon said their appearance was taped a couple of months ago. So much for LIVE TV!

wvgal_dana said...

PAULA Thank you so much for those WONDERFUL 5 SECONDS !! (: I keep playing and replaying lol

wvgal_dana said...

You might be right. Looking at the video Paula made the nest does look bigger in it. Hope those squirrels are not stealing sticks!!!

wvgal_dana said...

wvgal_dana said...

Paula or Lynn-Hedgie do you remember the link that was given so you can view Osprey at Conn.?
I was always even on laptop able to view now I can't?????

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Did somebody say Train? Love it!

I was surprised when I clicked on the link and our live cam is still up? It has a loud buzz but I thought it was probably down until they installed the new camera.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Know I have missed a bunch of birthdays the last few days....hope they have been happy times for those celebrating

Hoping that all the illnesses, aches and pains are being helped with our prayers and good skills from our health care people

I am going to head out and collect some Vitamin D and maybe some Kid Fun

It's been so long since I signed on to post I almost forgot how to do it !

magpie said...

Having seen the pages and pages of planning sheets and flow charts and officers assignments and so on and so on regarding the Air Show....it seems, that for the most part with that many thousands of people attending and in the area.....it went pretty good....
believe it or not, we only got a couple of 911 calls at the center...everything else was handled by on-site personnel and a top-notch communications set up

magpie said...

And Hello Service Error 503 !!!

LOL I've been reading about that rascal the last few days

magpie said...

was sorry to hear of the gentleman who could not return to get his medicine though...I think the arrangements and pre-planning for those in the "Fly Box" were pretty extensive....

When I came out of work close to 4 pm Sunday, the Thunderbirds were just starting their routine...got to see some awesome maneuvers from our office parking lot, including one in which one plane went one way, and four others the other way, and created a Heart out of their contrails in the sky: Beautiful!

well, heading out now

Happy Day and Happy Wildlifing to all...

hedgie said...

Dana, I can't get CT to open so deleted the link.

Shar, I don't think there's going to be any new cam. It's a switch to HD, which I'm sure is in the equipment at the receiving end.

hedgie said...

Hi, Margy. Bye, Margy. Always on the fly!!! Sure glad you got to see some of the performance. Ron Agnir has over a 1000 pics on CU!!
Enjoy your freedom day!! Good that you don't have to LABOR!

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Spring Update #8 - August 4, 2010

Action in the nest has declined a great deal with the departure of the young eagle. We plan on going up in the nest sometime later in the month to install a new HD camera, an improved camera mount and other equipment. Keep an eye out for our adults, who are occasionally visiting the nest.

wvgal_dana said...

Hi Sharon happy Labor Day

I am hearing cluck cluck around the cam and squeaking noises.

hedgie said...

Downloaded Hope scream and Lynn Rogers' "It's Me, Bear" ringtones from the website........any idea how I get them to my cell phone???

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Lynn, here are the instructions.

Afternoon, all!

Heard an eagle call about 10 minutes ago.

paula eagleholic said...

Dana, here is cut and paste info for CT osprey cam

http://www.ctaudubon.org/action/osprey.htm

paula eagleholic said...

Glad Margy could pop in

Just heard another call!

hedgie said...

Oops, Sharon, guess I either missed that or forgot exactly what it said!!!! THink Steve indicated that work was to be done a couple of weeks ago (?when cam was down?), so maybe it's already happened!

hedgie said...

Maybe that's why the nest is missing some edges and turtle shells!!!

hedgie said...

Thanks, Shar.........have a feeling it's not going to work. No internet on my phone....and don't have a USB cable to fit it, either.

hedgie said...

I am not hearing any of the sounds at cam that you all are.....just the hum (faint) and wind (louder).

Mema Jo said...

Well I've return even though you didn't know I was gone. Went westward on RT 40 - I had all this RT Eastbound
traffic coming at me - like it is when they detour off of I70. When I headed home it wasn't like that so whatever it was must have cleared. Gd & hubby and children were up at their rental property. On South Mountain at the Appalachian trail - the parking lot was packed full and about 25 cars were overflowing out onto the shoulder. Beautiful day for hiking!

Lynne2 said...

afternoon all!

Been a busy weekend. Spent Sat in S. Md. visiting my friend Joan who is struggling with MS. Had a great visit though! She has about 15 hummingbird feeders with LOTS of hummers!

Yesterday took dogs to fishing spot for the day. What a fiasco! They were good and tired when we got home last night!
Last night, a deer (prints found in mulch) ate most of my red morning glories on the feeder pole. Only the top half are left!

Have had some bad luck with monarch chrysalis. I believe they have been infected with something called OE. The adults are unable to emerge. Three have come out very weak with deformed wings, and 3 more never emerged at all. Very sad.

So awful about the racehorses at Charlestown.

Well, Steve is out mowing and I am getting ready to give the dogs baths. Yee haaa....

Lynne2 said...

Wow, had no idea there was a storm in the Gulf. Looks to be minor, but maybe bring lots of rain to Texas. Grab the umbrella Lolly!

hedgie said...

There you are, Lynne! Glad you had a good visit with Joan. Wow, she must spend all summer days filling feeders!
I didn't know about the storm in the gulf, either....????
Did the dogs decide to go for a swim???

Jo, glad you got to visit with the kids!

Lolly said...

Oh, I do hope that storm brings rain up here..... ♫♪♫ And Texas needs rain ♫♪♫....

Need to call my brother as it is headed right at him. Glub glub!

Hi all! We headed right out to mow, etc...plus fertilize. No time to even drink my second cup of coffee let alone say good morning to you.

Eagle-Eyed Shar said...

Sounds like a duck at the nest.

hedgie said...

Do we have a duck in our nest tree???

hedgie said...

Awwww...:( a fawn caught in the bleachers at the Little League field in H'ville......DNR dispatched.

NatureNut said...

Good Afternoon Everyone! Have not been laboring today, but probably should have! Guess I'll just have to feel guilty!!LOL
So horrible about the horse. They are my favorites, don't want to see more about it :>(
I put the Live Cam up and have heard some clunking!! Very windy at nest, can hear russling that sounds like walking in the nest!!But not.

NatureNut said...

Typo--meant horses

hedgie said...

A little good news here....TV station had it wrong....
From Spirit of Jefferson newspaper FB:
"OFFICIAL UPDATE: According to Ed Smith with Independent Fire Co., there are 27 horses dead; 26 saved from the barns. The call went out at 4:41 a.m.; however individuals were working to release the horses before that time. Eleven companies responded to the scene: all 7 Jefferson companies, neighboring Berkeley and Loudoun. Fire Marshal investigating cause but there appears no reason to believe anything but an accident."

Mema Jo said...

Hubby and I are going out shopping

So glad for that update Lynn.

BBL

hedgie said...

Ch. 7 had lead report....will run more at 6, local folks.

hedgie said...

I've got to make a quick run to town. Forgot to mail a friends b-d card---it's tomorrow! Yikes! Hopefully, taking it in to main post office, it will still get delivered tomorrow. BBL.

stronghunter said...

2 eagles at our nest!

stronghunter said...

One there and munching on something.

stronghunter said...

Nobody else is seeing this?

stronghunter said...

I heard eagle calls, then Belle and Lib both showed up for a moment. I got a pic of one of them.

stronghunter said...

Nice long visit.

Lolly said...

Have worked in the yard all day. I am exhausted. Just so determined to have the yard all tidied up before we leave for five weeks. We will have yard service while gone but there is a limit to what they do.

Talked with Sandy, my sister in law. They are expecting the storm tonight. We have 60% chance of rain tomorrow and 100%chance Wed. Say we will get up to 2 inches. I'll go for that.

stronghunter said...

Lolly, check the cam!!!!!

Lolly said...

Well, Shirley, guess you are the honored one tonight.

NatureNut said...

Dinner in the nest!!!!!

stronghunter said...

That was fun.

NatureNut said...

POOF

Lolly said...

I was just too slow!

NatureNut said...

Lynn, just saw your report. So glad many of the horses were saved.

Gonna check my nest pics--will put in E_M album if they're OK.

stronghunter said...

Posted a picture on my blog. That was really cool. I did not have the cam up, but it was minimized, and I suddenly heard eagle calls and quickly brought up the cam to see one and then both of them.

paula eagleholic said...

Heading home!! Finally!

Lolly said...

You got a great picture, Shirley.

stronghunter said...

I wish I could have gotten both of them, Lolly.

stronghunter said...

September 6th--My father's birthday. He passed away in 1972.

stronghunter said...

Boris's work is showing up.

Lolly said...

Heading to the kitchen to stir up some dinner. Thinking about chili dogs, nothing fancy tonight.

NatureNut said...

Put 3 pics in Momsters album. Love those you got, Paula, of Belle looking up!
Gotta finish din din~~~

hedgie said...

I'm back. Wow---so glad you gals saw our birds!! Thanks for pic, Shirley.....need to check album for Loretta's!
Lolly, I heard them say that coastal area could get 12" of rain.
Wish they could share it with us.

Wouldn't you know.......??? I went to Wendy's to get a Frosty---and they were OUT OF CHOCOLATE! Unreal!
So went to DQ and got a PB shake.

Costume Lady said...

PEANUT BUTTER?

hedgie said...

I did get the ringtones downloaded! I emailed them to Carolyn and then she was able to send them to my phone!! "It's me, bear"!!! Her dog went crazy listening to Lily screech!!

stronghunter said...

Yuck!

I had an unsettling experience. I wanted to watch the end of Jeopardy, so I waited until it got pretty dark to go outside and tie up my front yard crabapple tree to some new stakes. I started feeling something prickly on my legs, like something was biting me.

Then I realized there were ants crawling up my bare legs. I was watering the tree with the hose, so I grabbed it and washed off my legs.

I will wait until tomorrow to finish the job. Maybe take some ant poison with me. I must have been standing on an anthill. They were probably unhappy that their nest was being flooded with all of the water I was giving the tree.

I tossed my shoes in the washer.

stronghunter said...

Man climbing a skyscraper. Police waiting to arrest him. Not sure where, but the sun is shining, so must not be on the East Coast.

hedgie said...

Good, Lowreeda! Too bad no one caught them both being there. Very relieved, tho', that they were together!

stronghunter said...

Wanda, I am wondering, too. Peanut butter, Lynn?

stronghunter said...

Has to be west of the Mississippi. The TV call letters start with a "K."

Costume Lady said...

Oh, my goodness, your experience with ants reminds me of the time I stood on a fire anthill in Florida. OOOOOOHHHH! Itch, burn, hurt, itch, itch, hurt. Red welts all over my legs! I was getting a Bromeliad off of a tree to bring home. I got it, never let it go while the ants were biting or stinging me...not sure which it is that they do.

hedgie said...

You guessed it, Wanda!!

Ouch, Shirley! Put vinegar on your legs if they bit!

stronghunter said...

Lynne, so sorry the deer have eaten your red morning glories...they are a favorite food of the deer that visit GG and she has very few blooms. Just has some where I put some of that plastic mesh. Groundhogs like to nibble the tops out of the plants too:(

hedgie said...

Have fire ants reached VA yet, Shirley?

Costume Lady said...

Peanut Butter milkshake sounds wonderful...never heard of it, must try it!

stronghunter said...

O, I hope not, Lynn.

wvgal_dana said...

Checking back in... had a nice day.

Costume Lady said...

Can you imagine how much energy it takes to climb a skyscraper? He should put his abilities to better use!

Costume Lady said...

Hi, Dana. What did you do?

stronghunter said...

Police say that he is endangering others as well as himself. He could fall on someone, or, it seems to me, he could dislodge something that might fall on someone.

They have him now. It seems he does this kind of thing regularly.

stronghunter said...

Hello, Dana. Tell us about your day.

Mema Jo said...

Maurkie was not very playful - just wanted to be petted and he did purr
for a long time.

Peanut butter shake sounds Yummy!

I am thinking that one or both of our eagles visits their nest around this time of day. At least it has been two days in a row that they have been spotted.

I got a couple of pot of mums . I'll put them in the planters tomorrow when Kristen come.

stronghunter said...

Same for me, Jo. He just wanted to be petted.

Mema Jo said...

Lynne2 said...

Completely unacceptable that Wendy's had NO chocolate Frosty's.

Shirley, how awful you were attacked by ants! Hope you didn't get too many hurtful bites.

Wanda, the morning glories are only eaten about halfway up. Not sure what the deer was doing...probably will be back tonight to eat the rest :(

Police involved shooting this morning at my grocery store parking lot down the street. Call to police for suspicious person, first cop was getting out of car to check the guy, he tried to take his gun, second cop shot him in the chest. Perp is in Shock Trauma. Policemen not seriously hurt.

I have developed a nasty bronchitis. Probably allergy induced. I really don't have time for this.

SO glad to see the Royal Pair made an appearance today!!!!!!

Going to have to take the humming bird feeders down now. They have been taken over by hundreds of yellow jackets. This happened last year but my neighbor found the nest in the ground and torched it. But we haven't found the nest yet.

Going to turn in early this evening and try to sleep. Cough isn't going to make that easy. May end up in the rocker for the night.
Hope everyone is well and had a great weekend! Prayers for all and good night!

Costume Lady said...

Lynne, those deer will stand on their hind legs and reach up as high as the can and eat whatever is left of your morning glories. Wish I lived nearby, I would give you some of that plastic mesh to cover whats left...it is barely noticeable and inexpensive, however, it DOES NOT keep the groundhogs out. They rout around and get underneath it!

Costume Lady said...

Nite, Lynne♥

wvgal_dana said...

Thanks for the picture Shirley of our eagle in the nest.

hedgie said...

Lynne, please feel better fast! Do you have some Mucinex??? Sleep well if you can.

Shirley, the fire ants are into SC for sure....hope they don't come further, but have heard that on the west coast they are up as far as San Fran. Of course, it doesn't get terribly cold there. I had one severe reaction to them and I don't want it to happen again!!

paula eagleholic said...

Sorry to hear about the race horses...such a shame.

Lolly said...

Yes, I was wondering if you have fire ants. That is all we have and I hate them. I have several bites on my feet right now. First the bite hurts like h... and then they itch like h.... and then you get a red spot with a pus. Looks like a pimple. Not fun!

wvgal_dana said...

Hedgie-Lynn sorry about your ant experience.

Lynne2 sounds like you had a great day. Keep an eye "closely" on that bronchitis.

Went did a little shopping. Then to eat and just sit in car for awhile with windows down. Enjoyed the sites......like old days on Queen St. parking your car and watching the cars and people go by. I sit near Foxcroft and enjoyed myself. Just decided not to push the day or work.

It was just nice, sitting and thinking. Laughing at some memories about Ed and me. Things he would say. Lots of smiles on my face today. Then I came home and finished up my work for the week. Done, finished and completed by desires for my demise. That way daughter will have it easier. No that doesn't sound sad or horrible to me. Made me happy to have things straight.

wvgal_dana said...

Looking at live feed it almost looks like an eagle in the nest. See the white spot (head) body dark...but I don't think so.

stronghunter said...

I read one article that said that fire ants are as far north as Maryland, but they can't survive for long in areas where the ground stays below freezing for long. I don't think the ants that got me were fire ants. I will check them out tomorrow.

I hopped out of my shoes and hosed them off, then brought the shoes in and dropped them in the washer.

wvgal_dana said...

I pulled up the still cam it shows the same thing??????? Anyone else see this???????

stronghunter said...

That white spot was there last night, too, Dana. I think it is something in the web.

wvgal_dana said...

I should have said SHIRLEY for the ants and not Hedgie>>>>>I'll get it straight one day.

paula eagleholic said...

Shirley, sounds like you and Lowreeda got to see a great visit! So Happy for you!

Dana, nothing wrong with lovely memories that bring smiles. Especially nothing wrong with making your wishes known. You will be loved even more for your thoughtfulness.

Tragic outcome for the race horses. So very, very sad.

Shirley, not sure about the ants but hope you are done with them.

Lynne, hope you feel better soon. So sorry about bronchitis.

Shirley, are the pictures of the royal pair on your blog? Didn't find them. Will try again tomorrow.

Going to turn my light off early. Teaching day tomorrow. Pleasant dreams everyone.

Lolly said...

Yea, Shirley, you did it all by yourself. ☺

Good night, Judie. Sleep well. Have a good day at the big schoolhouse tomorrow.

Costume Lady said...

DANA, I know exactly what you mean about not wanting daughter to have a lot of junk to go through when your time comes! I've been wanting to do that for years. I guess I am a hoarder of sorts. We have an old construction trailer full of things that our girls would have no idea what to do with. I want to clear everything out of there...take to an auction and have the trailer dismantled. It has deteriorated over the years and needs to be GONE!

Just saw a clip for the news and the guy who climbed skyscraper used suction cups!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't see a rope, but maybe there was one. He'll probably go to the home!
Well, just dried hair & now it's hot in here! Gotta nudge AC, get ready for lights out--Boo. I'm a night owl.
BTW, have you seen the ad on TV for the 3D owl animated movie??Most look similar to barn owls. I want to see that, even if it's for kids! Something about Legends in the title, I think.
If I don't return, Pleasant Feather Dreams to All ;>) & Prayers for those ailing

I have been working on the design for Jacob's birthday cake. Think I have it worked out. It is going to be a two tiered round cake. Batman signal on the top along with little batman toy figure. Then I have Rubberneck (toy figure)who has Plastic Man in a threatening hold. lol Rubberneck will stand on the board beside the cake. Going to make the cake blue and yellow, except the bat signal will be black. This will be my project Friday. Thursday I have a dessert to make for the auction at church Sunday. I think this happened on the same weekend last year too. Grrrr!

Hi, Everyone,

Gosh, looks like I missed everybody!
Getting here kinda late. Hubby Ken and I went to dinner at Chili's and had the 2 for $20 special. Had some YUMMY chips and guacamole, he had baby back ribs (scrumptious!) and black beans, and I had 3 chicken tacos, 2 of which came home with me for tomorrow's lunch or dinner. Mine came with rice flavored with cilantro and corn, and black beans. Delicious!

Read back a bit, and so very sorry to hear of the tragic stable fire.
Glad they were able to save some of the horses. Prayers for those who lost horses, and for the horses that they were able to save. Hope they have no lasting effects.

Lynne, prayers for your speedy recovery from the bronchitis!

Shirley, thank you for the picture of one of our eagles! Sure do enjoy your virtual cat, Maukie. Yesterday while shopping, Hubby and I walked by the local Petco. Went inside, and they had a bunch of cats there that were up for adoption. One of them was a tuxedo kitten that looked exactly like Maukie, except it was a spayed female. Very pretty. They also had a male that looked like a flame-point Siamese, with blue eyes, and a Siamese-like meow. He was 1/2 Siamese. Too totally rambunctious, though. At this point, I think that if Hubby and I got a cat, it would need to be a Ragdoll. Want one that doesn't climb, and that would be pretty calm. We have too many breakable things that could get knocked off shelves, etc. I understand that Ragdolls are extremely mellow, and don't usually climb much. Sure do miss having a cat or dog around! :o[

Oh--earlier this morning, Hubby and I went walking on the Santa Ana River trail a couple of blocks from our house. It's primarily a paved bike trail, right on the riverbank, but there is a dirt hiking/
jogging/horseback riding trail right next to it. We saw all KINDS of birds, including Mallards, Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Sandpipers, and Red-winged Blackbirds. Lots of fun! I should go walking there during the week, and take my camera along!

Well, getting kinda late, so am turning on the porch light and the night light for those coming in later. Prayers have been said for everyone, especially those who need healing. The eye-scanner security and Dana's thumbprint-scanner security are both enabled. Sleep well, everyone (Margy, hope you get all rested up!), and will talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight! Love all of you! :o]

COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH COUGH. UGH.

HOLD ON TO YOUR COCKTAILS LOLLY!!!! Hermine ashore, you are under a flash flood watch!!!!

Can't believe I forgot to tell you all....when we went fishing yesterday at Loch Raven Reservoir,we were thrilled to see plenty of Osprey action! Hoping Dave got some good pics with his zoomy camera. There were at least 2 (I say that only because we saw 2 at once, but saw many sightings...not sure if same 2 or others) and they were doing some serious fishing! We often see at least one, but this is more action than we've seen there. Could be migrating birds? Awesome sights!!

We saw juvie cormorants and parents, too. Egrets and Herons. Lots of ducks.

Going to try to lay down again....

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
It is such a beautiful morning here, 65° and sunny...can't believe it is going up to 93° this afternoon:(
I woke up around 3ish this morning and remembered that I had left the hose running in the garden....just about 12 hours...water was not muddy, so maybe our well has finally cleared itself out!
Tomatoes and peppers look good, beans, what is left of them after the groundhog got done browsing, looks good. They are blooming and we will have beans soon, if the groundhog stays away. I salvaged some lacy curtains from GG's flooded basement and I may put those on the beans to help keep the groundhog out, til Gene can send him to his departed relatives:)

Sorry you have to put up with a cough, Lynne...so aggravating
and with golden rod and whatever else is blooming right now...you may need some meds.

I'm glad the number of horses that died in the fire was only 27 and not 60, but that is still too many. I understand there were some heros on the scene before the firemen got there...bless them!

Good morning!

Having my morning cup of coffee and TV.

I see Margy was here early, but it has been quiet since then.

stronghunter said...

Hi Wanda!

stronghunter said...

Wanda, I wish my tomato plant would be as productive as yours. I had two tomatoes on it when I bought it the first of the summer. So far that is it. There are many blooms, one green tomato, and the possibility of more now. I need to feed it again.

stronghunter said...

I need to head out and check on the anthill I had problems with in the dark last night.

stronghunter said...

Well, at least one more green tomato and no sign of ants. At least I'm not dealing with groundhogs or armadillos. I have seen at least one groundhog run through the yard, but they would have to come onto the front porch to get to my lone tomato plant.

stronghunter said...

Looks like Lolly is getting lots of rain this morning. Check my blog for a weather map of Texas. Wow!

Costume Lady said...

Sometimes a plant, if fertilized too much, will produce lush leaves and no fruit. A little goes a long way. These cool nights are helping the flowers and veggies recuperate from the extreme heat we have been having...hope we don't get an early frost!

Costume Lady said...

Well, Shirley, that is good news for Lolly. Just in the nick of time to help her lawn and flowers to get healthy before she leaves on her trip up to New England and here in October:)

stronghunter said...

I planted this tomato plant in Miracle Gro potting soil and waited awhile before I gave it some food for tomato plants. It looks like I might be getting some results finally. If all of those flowers make tomatoes, I should be eating BLTs this fall.

stronghunter said...

Need to get some taller stakes for the tomato and my crabapple tree. Something to take care of today.

BBL.

stronghunter said...

I agree, Wanda. I hope we don't have an early frost around here, either.

Lolly said...

Good morning! Jack did armadillo hunting last night but no luck and no holes. Jack is an armadillo scarecrow!!!! ☺

We are up to a half inch of rain and it has come down gently. Guess we are living right as we put fertilizer down yesterday.

No flash floods for us, we are expected to get a couple of inches but no flash floods. However, they are watching the conditions very carefully. If the tropical storm pulls in dry air from the west we could have tornadoes. The center of the storm is to our west.

Lolly said...

This rain came at the right time. It rained last week and we were needing it again. Wahoo! Free water! ☺ You are right Wanda. I want everything in top shape when we leave. We will leave the sprinkler system on, but hopefully maybe just once a week while we are gone. It has a sensor and will not come on if it has rained.

hedgie said...

Good morning, eagle dudettes and dudes!
Lovely day out there, isn't it?
(Hope Lolly is getting rain! Wish WE would.)

hedgie said...

Oh, good, Lolly! You ARE getting rain.

Wanda, do you have public water AND well? Guess that is good so that you don't have to pay for watering water! Don't imagine public water will ever come here---at least not in my lifetime.

Poor Lynne---hope you got to sleep and feel better this morning.
Christie is sick, too---and today is her first real OTJ day...:(

Andy, so neat that you had a great nature hike! And speaking of Ragdolls.......wonder where our Ragdoll friend has been lately??
YooHoo---Deb---let us hear from you!!

hedgie said...

Speaking of nature---Carolyn and I are going to the Audubon's Yankauer Nature Preserve this evening to listen to an old neighbor play his hammered dulcimer in a one-man show.

Lolly said...

Good morning, Lynn. Rain still gently coming down. No thunder storm....just rain. No yard work for me today. Need to grocery shop also need to shop for Joseph's birthday. Since we will miss his 10th birthday in October, we will celebrate it before we leave. I asked if he wanted it before we left or after....silly question!!

Lolly said...

Sounds like a really fun evening. I love a hammered dulcimer. There is a man here in Burleson that makes and plays the dulcimer. He has a lot of CD's out. A friend of ours was his secretary for several years and he played at her wedding.

hedgie said...

I love the dulcimer, too, Lolly. Friend Frank (the one who might be buying a beach house with me) has made them, too, but he doesn't really play! Strange, huh?

Lolly said...

Yes, you would think, if he makes them, he would play them.

I am off now. Lots to do today. Have a great day. I am! Love this rain!

Sissy has a Kailey update on Momster Mail. My response includes a brief explanation of what her eye situation is all about.

hedgie said...

Well, for some stooopid reason, my Yahoo reply to Sissy is not posting. So here is what I put:

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a potentially blinding disease affecting the retinas in premature infants. The retinas are the light-sensitive linings of the insides of the eyes. In infants born prematurely, the blood vessels that supply the retinas are not yet completely developed. Although blood vessel growth continues after birth, these vessels may develop in an abnormal, disorganized pattern, known as ROP. In some affected infants, the changes associated with ROP spontaneously subside. However, in others, ROP may lead to bleeding, scarring of the retina, retinal detachment and visual loss. Even in cases in which ROP changes cease or regress spontaneously, affected children may have an increased risk of certain eye (ocular) abnormalities, including nearsightedness, misalignment of the eyes (strabismus), and/or future retinal detachment. The two major risk factors for ROP are a low birth weight and premature delivery.

This is my second try............

Good afternoon everyone! Enjoying my Tuesday morning with my daughter. No other plans - maybe get my mums into the planters out on the front porch.

Lolly's rain sounds so nice - I wish we would get that gentle downpour. Maybe it will drown out your armadillos.

Baby shower for this upcoming Sun for my #8th great grandchild. I am so blessed.. ♥
