Now I would volunteer to help Belle get that nest cleaned out, but I am just so tired of shoveling snow and ice! How much snow do you have, Vicky? Sounds like good news for now, Sharon, now you can relax for a while and go see Andrew wow em this weekned.

Temperature here is dropping. Suppose to be around 9 tonight; with wind it will be less than that.
She or he at our nest is really trying to get the breast area down deep into nest to keep eggs warm.
Wow change in NOrfolk can really see eggs good!!! Actually see eagle using beak to turn eggs. I think the one that left was he (being smaller they were side by side for a while). She is setting on eggs now. Wow that was neat to see.
I saw it when Dad came in to give her a break...really up close and personal.

Do you eat peanut butter? Did you see the Peter Pan pbutter recall due to possible samonella? Just threw all mine away, every jar I had was from the recalled batch, scary, my kid eats it every day. If you send the lids in, they will send you someting, not sure if it's money or coupons for more pnut butter. Don't think I'll be buying theirs for a while.

Snack time for Jo BRB
Had to go out every few hours during the storm to knock the ice off, Vicky. Ran a kerosene heater the whole time, keeps it warm inside and helps melt the ice, but it was a real chore. Took me so long to get a GH of my own, wasn't about to have it collapse.
I was thinking about you Megan! A lot of help that was though!

Well, my Gh needs new plastic, has 2 layers, usually blow air between them to inflate it and help keep heat in, but it is not inflated right now, so there was more worry about ice on it. Ran several box fans in there to circulate heat. Hubby says I worry too much, but he went out every time to knock ice off.

I see our still-but-refreshable cam is working again, perhaps more clearly than before. On the other hand I have not been able to connect to the video cam yet... Is that because it has not been repaired yet? Or do I have to look for something wrong with my Real Player?
When I was still at work, I saw the Santa Cruz pair working furiously at their nest, so I guess their time must be getting pretty close.
Also the pair at the Two Harbors nest have a humungous egg depression dug...or they're digging for water...which is also a sign they're getting close.

Morning, suzanne! Believe it or not, the cam was working yesterday after not working since Tues nite, it went out then probably due to the thick layer of ice we got. Either the battery isn't holding a charge or it has to do with these cold temps, I don't know, apparently they don't either. The picture yesterday was perfect, but it must have gone out overnight. Wish the BW people would advise the NCTC people on what kind of cam they are using, etc. Maybe the NCTC guys should take a field trip to BW! Gotta go, trying to get to work today, school here is on 2 hr delay, wish they would have just closed today, seems like a waste of money to turn up the heat for 5 hrs. of school. our road is still a nightmare. The guy who plowed only gave us one lane in and out, seems he did about half the job, hope they pay him half the amount he was supposed to get. cars are stuck along road from pulling over to let others by, when I leave, I ain't yielding. Have a good day, and a nice long weekend.

We are going to see them....lots and lots of them. except for a quick Hi and a post to make you drool well maybe, some of you will just roll your eyes but some of you will drrol, anyway..I am glad to have seen the cam yesterday and know the Whole family did weather the brunt of the storm well. They will continue to care for each other today too. Be safe and warm...will check in at some point some time over the next couple of days but really have no idea when.

Anway foreast is for 1 to 3 inches of snow later this afternoon and wind chills 16 below all day. I wonderf if she will even notice once I let her out of the car. I amay have to drag her back in...Ok gonna eat breakfast here and make a quick trip to the store we will need more comfort food to deal with the weather as we travel up and down the river. she wants to see the eagles...we will see the eagles no matter what. Suzanne drs are trying to figure out whose the one to care for them there legs of mine. I let them fight it out and see what the answer is. For now 1/2pill thankfull that helps alittle.
Ok cams sorry not fully on blog yet. Setting up cams. So far Maine has snow in it. Didn't yesterday. NE has snow in it. It did yesterday (Mits dead birdie gone). Co has an eagle eating in its nest no snow there.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE In addition to seeking help from BW, they really should talk to the people up in GORHAM, MAINE, who had BLIZZARD CONDITIONS, with 8 to 14 inches of snow and ice and their cam, like TIMEX, took a licking and kept on ticking. I'm sure these 2 others places have seen our cam, maybe they can help with some suggestions.JMHO.

No Norma Ed let the doggies out. Clear path for them. But they walk onto on snow with ice on it. Their feeties freeze. I don't like that!! :( So we try to get them in ASAP.

Suz, Zoo was closed on Wed and part of Thursday, they were supposed to open noon yesterday, but don't know if they did. Our mandatory meeting was postponed til Monday. Mai and Tai are separated during the night, my sister saw him nurse this a.m. Mei and Tian are NOT together at night, have not heard anymore news about them getting together during the day. Mei should be coming into estrus sometime in March. They are checking her hormones every Wednesday a.m. I think they have a chart somewhere on their site, so you can follow her hormone level.
I see the cam is down....looks like the pic from the other night, if you ask me.
BW is NOT a government cam. Although the refuge is government...the Friends of Blackwater is a non-profit organization that runs the osprey and eagle cam, plus the visitor center bookshop, eagle days, open house, etc etc. I agree, NCTC should be talking to other folks whose cams seem to have no problem staying up. Just my 2 cents worth.
Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. The cam is up....ice must've melted again.....we can only speculate since we haven't received an update in days....
Suzanne, Mei and Tian were put together for the 1st time since the birth of Tai, back in January, Mei let it be known, that it was nice to see him, but was not ready for anything else, she smacked him, knocked him to the floor and he went running, but they are still friends, meanwhile Tai was outside and ran up the tree whan he heard his Mom, which is what he would do in the wild, when he sensed something going on, but Tai will be fine, and the zoo has enough roo for the pandas, even if we were allowed to keep Tai.

Oh, Paula, you got that right. I missed my golden opportunity, by not getting out 1st thing in the a.m. Fortunately, I do live on the "sunny side of the street", and Mr. Sun does a great job, but in the back getting to the birdfeeders is tricky business.

Hi Jo and anyone else that came in. I was helping Ed. Guy with farm tractor came in. Ed went out getting him to do ours. Guy knows he can't or I lift snow. He is going to do driveway and help Ed with cars. I couldn't come back in, I just had to stand there and pray for Ed cause man wanting to help. He lifted 2 small shovels full and out of breath.
He is ok...I can be back now...ask him to check with my neighbor to see if she wants man to do hers; she does. She is alone...grandson comes there doesn't do anything for her.
LOL..Suz, good thing George is fast, they are a beautiful pair of eagles, and, am soooo excited to see the new cam. They like Maine, seem to have no problems working around the eagles when they are there.
