When we go to Zoo (don't know exact time yet), I will wave at all the places where I think there are cams! (Daughter probably won't-she's older than me!)
Both PANDAS are out at the NZOO!!-----I think the 'LITTLE PRINCE' has a new toy!!!----Bet he enjoys this cool weather!!!---SISSY----LOVE 'EM TOO!! (who wouldn't?)
AAWWW- that is a big deal, Sharon! I just put my kid on the bus, thank goodness no cars here yet.. Norma, pllleease... my hubby said this morning the hummers will be leaving soon and I almost knocked him out.. I hate it when they leave, my garden is so full of them, they are noisy and boisterous and so much fun to watch. We seem to have more than ever this year. They will be around until sometime in Sept. Depends on the weather and the birds. They will eat a lot to fatten up to make the trip- leave your feeders out until you don't see anymore for a while, sometimes other hummers traveling by your yard will fill up at your feeders.
GOOD ADVICE, MEGAN. The hummers leave here around the 20-25th of September as a rule, but have stayed til the first week in October if the weather has been mild. So keep those feeders out for at least a week after you have seen the last feeding.
I think I have had more birds feeding this year than before!!--They are every where!!----LOVE IT!!---(not close to the number you have)----You truly live in nature heaven!!!!---
I am very nervous and excited all at the same time to hear that Andrew is on his way to school all on his own. I so remember that feeling about 5 times over! Sharon - I just know he'll call you when he safely arrives and you better let all of us know when he does! :)
Good morning all. I have computer training again today so no playing at the computer for me. Thanks for the safe fledge of Andrew info. y aknow we could have filmed him at the stop sign. We'll have to do that soon LOL but don't tell him. We'll surprise him making that Stop. :) Have a great day all.
I tried taking pics of Andrew leaving, he wanted no part of it. He was tickled and tried so hard not to show it. Now if our car makes it back in 1 piece tonight. (Tom has banged it up so much, we probably wouldn't notice). We are so proud of him. What a great kid!!
I am in and out of the garden, had to fill two more hummer feeders. I heard they raised $6400.00 at the fundraiser at Betty's Sunday. I am eating chocolate covered sunflower seeds..
August 19 Mei Xiang has not been seen cradling objects and grooming herself since last Thursday. She has been going outdoors for a few hours each morning since last Friday. A few hours is her plan, along with quick-stepping keepers. Mei is still very attached to her den, off of exhibit three, huffing, honking, snorting, and head-tossing if we take too long to clean. The first time she went outdoors, she sniffed the yard over thoroughly until she had had enough and wanted to come inside. When she is outdoors or hungry she is her old self again. Mei is eating really well and has the best bamboo consumption of the three pandas.
Over the past few days, we have been able to get caught up with our routine blood-pressure measurements and blood draws for all pandas. They are active early and then the summer lethargy sets in. Tian Tian has been spending a lot of time on his back in his air-conditioned grotto, but by the peak heat of the day he is ready to retreat indoors. Tai Shan has been sleeping in late most mornings. When Tai goes outdoors, he is back in his habit of sleeping on one of the two drainage grates. Although he was using the water-chilled grotto in yards three and four earlier in the summer, we have not seen him there recently.
We are also catching up on making repairs and cleaning. Our entire camera system is being renovated or replaced, thanks to support from Discovery. Electricians have adjusted the "hot vines" (electrified faux vines) for the growth and well being of the trees. Plumbers have repaired one of our most important appliances. It has been a busy week already.
Yesterday, Greg, at Frodocam, told us that the nesting schedule is later this year, but this morning when I looked, one of the pair is standing vigil on the ledge wall. Link below.
I don't see Finney the second (or third) on the nest tonight, but I just saw what might be a woodpecker on their nest. Maybe hunting insects or nestovers.
The price of gas ranges from $3.75-$4.05/gal in Orange County, CA, this morning.
The sun has burned through the overcast, the temperature has risen to a beautiful 70°; and we can expect an even more beautiful 79° by mid-afternoon. :~)
Helen, my eldest daughter, Denise, is down your way this week. She hasn't been to the ocean in 20 years. Just too busy to go. She said she is having a wonderful time. Said the ocean is stirred up and could make for some good shelling.
the winds are out of the NE today, so rip current is at moderate level....had a guy right in front of us, and I was watching him, jumping in the waves, thought to myself , that this was going to be trouble. Sure enough next thing I know he came up out of the water screaming, holding a very limp wrist. We summoned the lifeguards, and they came and people helped him up onto the beach, paramedics were there in minutes, and put him in a sling and took him to the hospital......people use such poor judgement when they are at the ocean, sometimes. Where is you daughter?
Helen, I don't know just exactly where she is...just that she is in a condo somewhere in Ocean City. I'll have to ask her the address. She just emailed me and said she ate at a little joint in Deleware and the owners daughter was her age and went to WVU. Small world.
Everyone is out of town (Gene and Denise) but GeeGee is still expecting to eat crabs Friday evening. She said that we don't need any more than two people to eat crabs...so off we go!
Hello all! Been lurking some today, but busy doing so many piddlin' little things that just tried to keep myself away from 'puter! Sounds like everyone has been enjoying this beautiful day!
Back from our trip to the Choptank River. Weather was great. Crabs were excellent. Saw Osprey and an eagle. Eagle was fishing but did not get anything. Great day.
No Deleware for GeeGee, Jo. We can't get her to go anywhere in the Motorhome. I took her to get a cane today, and thought maybe that will be like a security blanket for her. She and I went to get groceries and she said the cane helped quite a bit. Hoping to be able to take her somewhere for a few days. Myrtle Beach has wonderful crab legs. CRABBY MIKES...YUMMMMY!
Hello all! Just got another peach cobbler out of the oven. I think this one is better than the others I made. Bout lost these peaches, been lazy and left em in the fridge. But boy this is good. Ya'll come on down and have a piece with me, got Starbucks brewed.
GG like king crab legs, doesn't she Wanda? I like blue crab myself!
Oh My Sissy, I'd be right over if I could. Just printed off a recipe the other day for peach cobbler, been in the mood for some! Gotta get some peaches!
Paula, I bought a big basket of em at the flea market a couple of weeks ago and just finished them off. I had intentions of making preserves or canning some, but it just didn't happen. I have to say this is probably the best I have ever made. Just kind of winged it, little of this, little of that, turned out good.
I like blue crabs also Paula. These were good and you could have as many as you wanted. I am going to give up on our feather friends. Good night all. Pleasant dreams.
Little bit of pumpkin pie spice, brown sugar, vanilla, and tbsp of flour stirred in with the peaches, cook in 350 oven for 10 minutes. 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of milk, stir up and pour over the peaches, back in for about 20 minutes or so. Voila!! Peach cobbler.
Come on down Ceil. I am going to Logan this weekend, gonna try to save the big one till then and take it camping with us. Gonna get with a bunch of friends at Chief Logan State Park and camp for the weekend. But I doubt if it makes it that long. Might try to freeze the big one.
Wanda, where is Gene's hunt camp? Are he and his buddies getting it ready for fall? My Bill is going to his this weekend....heard that they have lots of trees down since winter and road is blocked!
I know most everyone has gone to the pillows....just wanted to say Hi to everyone...took my grandson home a little while ago...reading through things now to see what everyone has been up to. Hope to catch the Eagles in the morning.... Take Care, and Prayers. xo
Lynn...just saw your question about Gene and Hunt Camp. He is in Elkins along with 7 buddies, just doing the "Deliverence" thing. Hope their outting turns out better than the movie!
Speaking of Grannies...GeeGee has her cane, got her hearing aids cleaned and tuned up and bought a cart load of groceries...she should sleep well tonight (me too).
Believe it or not, I did sleepwalk from the bed to the bathroom and past the computer early Wednesday morning and saw one of the Royal Eagle Couple in the nest....it was NICE !
Missed you guys....but I have enjoyed all the grandson time the last 48 hours..
There is considerably more reading material in the Frodocam Forum today ... including questions by Mema Jo and me (both with pictures) and answers by Greg.
Also, I see the Update Report for Santa Cruz Island has been posted. And the Catalina Report will probably be posted before morning.
T-Bird: I have my alarm set for 5:20 - -will look for you then. I am watching a spot in the nest now but it is too blurry to tell if it is a white Eagle head I see or not. "See you" in a couple of hours. xo
ok, still up put on a pot of coffee, sunrise is a beaut this a.m......and it isn't even going to appear til 6:20a.m. here....awesome pinks.....I thought I was seeing things, but guess that is a white head
The Sea Eagles at Finney Water Nest that I mentioned several posts back...I can't get them onto the Momsters email yet, I'm working on it, but you will fall over when you see them....
...Sigh, Thelma has to leave.... Good Work Day Thelma...
I only saw one so far this morning..and now none...maybe two will come to the nest soon..
MITS - I hadn't been watching the Finney Water nest until after all that started, but Suzanne filled me in on that too...how very interesting all these birds have been...imagine, an Osprey chasing away a Sea Eagle!
I created a new album in Momsters this morning. It's called Sea Eagles, and posted 3 pics I got from Maggie on the Sea Eagles in the 2nd Finland nest. Beautiful pics, but now they're on Momsters for all to view.
Can one of you get on the blog and post the info about the new album? I was online to do this this AM, but don't want to chance getting on the blog! That's pushing my luck a little too far. Oh, the album is the 3rd from the last. Not sure how Yahoo places the album, but that's where it ended up when I created it. Who knows?
Checked Finney nest this morning, was MT at first, but then next time chick was there and grooming. Wonder when this one is going to migrate? Guess we'll find out when the nest remains MT for a day or so. Darn, MT nest syndrome all over again.
We have wanted oceanfront for years, and when the opportunity arose in 2001...we jumped at it....too bad we didn't jump on it 30 years ago. We love it:)
Thanks MITS - Funny, I had just been reading about them on the Puleston site and there were a couple of pics posted on there from from Aug 19 - was totally surprised to see them there myself this morning!
form the teeniest tiny little birds, to the Hooded Crows, to the Ospreys, to the Sea Eagles..this week, all have been there!
Oh, Liberty and Belle, we are all kinda waiting on you....
WANDA - I will need some help too. In the meantime I can send them to you from my verizon account...jumping over there to do that now..it might come through as a forward.... xo
Oh, Wanda, you're nice, but I'm no wizard! I just sent them to Suzanne and she worked it out....I would never have been able to figure that one out on my own! And Helen just helped me find the album!
"Ask, and you shall receive..." That's becoming my favorite verse these days... (All this takes our mind off the emtpy nest for awhile, doesn't it...) xo

How's the beach weather today, Mits?
Good evening/afternoon all my fine eagle friends.
any eagle visits after this morning?
Haven't seen 'em, Tbird. They may be in this evening...they seem to like the 8 o'clock hour.
Tbird - they were in about 7am also.
Paula, I meant have Belle or Liberty visited this afternoon, prior to my logging in around 4:30 PM? The visits vs. visit was an error.
I hope to get to catch'em around 8 then. I'll tell you the early morning visits have been great. Where are you Magpie?
PAULA the weather here has been awesome:)
Where is you daughter?
Helen, I don't know just exactly where she is...just that she is in a condo somewhere in Ocean City. I'll have to ask her the address. She just emailed me and said she ate at a little joint in Deleware and the owners daughter was her age and went to WVU. Small world.
She said the crabs were the best she has ever eaten.
Wanda - don't tell GeeGee about the crabs! lol
Everyone is out of town (Gene and Denise) but GeeGee is still expecting to eat crabs Friday evening. She said that we don't need any more than two people to eat crabs...so off we go!
I was thinking she would want to go to DE....
Great day.
Hi, all. I am home and waiting for a visit! I had dinner already, so I am patiently waiting to see our beautiful eagles.

Paula, I thought they weren't showing up because I was watching tonight.
Awesome Ceil, what a day!
GG like king crab legs, doesn't she Wanda? I like blue crab myself!
Oh My Sissy, I'd be right over if I could. Just printed off a recipe the other day for peach cobbler, been in the mood for some! Gotta get some peaches!

Sounds yummmy, Sissy
Night Ceil!
Thanks, I have been hungry for it since the last time you made it.
Sissy, GeeGee uses brown sugar also. She made Gene a pie to take to Hunt Camp and only gave me a piece. LOL (She grows her own peaches)
oh Lord, I want peach cobbler now, and I don't even like peaches
Yes, Paula, GeeGee likes King Crab Legs...I don't think she has ever eaten Blue Crabs.
The seal rocks cam is back on....Gulliver was on the nest a little while ago...parent now at TH...DAD
It is not looking good for an evening visitor. Maybe I can get up early enough in the morning to see the early morning visit!!
Wanda, where is Gene's hunt camp? Are he and his buddies getting it ready for fall? My Bill is going to his this weekend....heard that they have lots of trees down since winter and road is blocked!

Hi Thelma -
and Buddy =
Well, at least one is right where you said it would be !
Hi !!
Morning Magpie and I forgot to say a goooood morning to you MITS
hey Thelma, and Margy....I'm going back to bed..
OK MITS - thought you already had...gone back to bed that is..
can you get back up ?
We have someone for you to see...
'Night MITS, no sunrise, huh. I don't blame you. :)
I hit the snoozeroo button again, T-Bird, good thing I hit it only once.
It's fuzzy but it's Eagley...
..and, I just checked the pic that I saved from 2 am, and I think that Eagle spent the night in the nest !
Or, do you think I am just seeing things..
Thelma? Buddy? Anybuddy?
xo
I was worried about my early morning eagle momster since I hadn't seen you for the past few early mornings.
No I don't think your seeing things. I thought the other morning one had spent the night. :)
ok, still up put on a pot of coffee, sunrise is a beaut this a.m......and it isn't even going to appear til 6:20a.m. here....awesome pinks.....I thought I was seeing things, but guess that is a white head
off to the balcony:)...I'm going to regret this later
I'm so jealous Helen. I love my sunrises too but I want an ocean one. :)
Thanks, Thelma, I was cavorting with my grandson (age 8) - and my hours were all changed around...
Yeah,Mits, I think I will regret it later, sort of, but we can try to work in a PANDA NAP!
Okay time for the Eagles to start moving around now too...
xo
GOOD MORNING GIRLS...
Are you seeing an eagle in our nest? I don't...maybe a cuppa coffee would help.
Got to get ready for work-hope you all in eagle land make a great day. Good morning Wanda.
The Sea Eagles at Finney Water Nest that I mentioned several posts back...I can't get them onto the Momsters email yet, I'm working on it, but you will fall over when you see them....
Be right back....
OOOH, sunrise over the ocean...so special!
Margy we were watching them before the osprey arrived for the season, were hoping they were going to nest there, but the osprey chased them out.
PANDA NAP sounds good...
Looks like two huge eyes at 9o'clock.
Gone now, only one left.
whatever we thought was an eagle, isn't there now...I see the 2 eyes, might be part os spidey's home or dew drops:)
Glad you saw those too, Helen. You know, I SEE things, sometimes!
...Sigh, Thelma has to leave....
HI WANDA !!!!
XO
I'm getting that EMPTY NEST SYNDROME.
buck party at pa woods !
I saw those eyeballs at 9 o'clock too Mits and Wanda...
The sunset last night was awesome:
The colors almost looked like Northern Lights! Almost..blues, peaches, pinks, it was a beauty.
FROM SUZANNE
Morning, All.
I created a new album in Momsters this morning. It's called Sea Eagles,
and posted 3 pics I got from Maggie on the Sea Eagles in the 2nd Finland
nest. Beautiful pics, but now they're on Momsters for all to view.
Can one of you get on the blog and post the info about the new album? I
was online to do this this AM, but don't want to chance getting on the
blog! That's pushing my luck a little too far. Oh, the album is the 3rd
from the last. Not sure how Yahoo places the album, but that's where it
ended up when I created it. Who knows?
Checked Finney nest this morning, was MT at first, but then next time
chick was there and grooming. Wonder when this one is going to migrate?
Guess we'll find out when the nest remains MT for a day or so. Darn, MT
nest syndrome all over again.
Have a good day, everyone. Suz
We have Yahoo mail...regarding the creation of a new album on Yahoo....regarding Sea Eagles and the Finney's nest...I'm the messenger...
xo
beautiful sunrise, seagulls flying by and dolphins swimming by....I hit the trifecta this a.m.
It is going to be a beauty of a day here. Sunny and 83°...it is a cool 56° right now.
YOU ARE TEASING US, HELEN!
wish you all were here:):):)!
Margy, those sea eagle pics are OUTSTANDING:):)!!!
Helen, are you still with us? Message from Denise:
Hi Mom, I'm staying at a condo on 112th street, where is your friend's condo?
I'M ON 59TH STREET
I can't find the Sea Eagles. HELP!
Denise wants a Beach House, now. Doesn't everyone?
We have wanted oceanfront for years, and when the opportunity arose in 2001...we jumped at it....too bad we didn't jump on it 30 years ago. We love it:)
Thanks MITS -
Funny, I had just been reading about them on the Puleston site and there were a couple of pics posted on there from from Aug 19 -
was totally surprised to see them there myself this morning!
form the teeniest tiny little birds, to the Hooded Crows, to the Ospreys, to the Sea Eagles..this week, all have been there!
Oh, Liberty and Belle, we are all kinda waiting on you....
xo
that osprey nest over the water is just beautiful....
WANDA - I will need some help too. In the meantime I can send them to you from my verizon account...jumping over there to do that now..it might come through as a forward....
xo
I found them...great shot, Margy.
Margy, you did a great job getting photos on the album page...I am just a little slow!
Oh, Wanda, you're nice, but I'm no wizard! I just sent them to Suzanne and she worked it out....I would never have been able to figure that one out on my own! And Helen just helped me find the album!
"Ask, and you shall receive..."
That's becoming my favorite verse these days...
(All this takes our mind off the emtpy nest for awhile, doesn't it...)
xo
Chick at Finney's nest, and sailboat at the Water nest..
wonder if the chick caught the food itself
Going for a cuppa coffee. BB
Sometimes when you look at the Finney's nest, the skies are full of birds...just was, now not, but they all looked "black" to me...
I say that is one very brave Osprey chick...having that food at such a popular diner!
I'm just thinking OUR EAGLES are out getting breakfast!
hope hope hope hope they bring it back to the nest...
