When I saw he was from Wanblee, I thought, how strange is that! I just had to let everyone know. Really have to go, lots to do today. Feeding, power point presentation, Gabby, our sick one, is back from Minnesota. Gabby used to be called sneezy, renamed to help get rid of the infection.
Been watching, and want to add my congratulations to you and Andrew on achieving his licensure! Big Job, for both of you! I remember going through that to get mine...my Dad was a good teacher, and one of my sisters was as well....remember all the important things they told me!
Hi Everyone in Eagleland!!! Will be off to Zoo today w/daughter. We probably will get there around 11:30ish & will head to Asia Trail. Will try to wave at panda & sloth bear windows! Will be 2 short blondes w/jeans.I'm wearing my aqua panda shirt. Will tell pandas hello from all the Momsters. Will we see Sissy there? LOL ;>))
Good Morning Dave - I bet you are almost packed out of the job site and packed into the adventurous back pack! Keep in touch as often as you can - we will all be looking forward to photos! Best years are ahead of you......
mema jo and mits I will keep in touch and check in here often.I am headed up to the tundra of northern canada on the 4th of Sept. to fish and photograph the wildlife up there.
Those birds still flying around on the Finney nest...some of them are white..had read somewhere recently they are probably a combination of several different types of birds, the Ravens, and the Ospreys, and probably Sea Eagles too... wish we could see some of them close up..
The chick - not there now - looks like it has a tennis ball in its crop after a meal..just like our fat little eagle chicks used to be..
Now after three days of glorious playing, where do I start.....!!!
I have to pass this on: I read in the Hagerstown Herald Mail yesterday, about a little old lady, somewhere away from here, who was awakened by a night-time burlgary to her residence, she met the burglar in one of the rooms, marched right past him, to her bedroom, got out her 22-caliber rifle, held him at gunpoint (he was only 17 years old) and ordered him to call 9-1-1 - and then held him at gunpoint until police arrived! Not THAT'S SPUNK! And that is the kind of 9-1-1 I would love to take someday ! Girl Power ! xoxo
Hi all! SO many early birds this am!! You make me feel lazy! Just a creature of habit....start my day later than some and read my papers first, usually!! Early birds get the worms!!! Gotta go look at the album!
If anyone who lives in my area has some quart size Mason jars they would like to donate to a good cause, and maybe they could drop off at my Sheptown or Charlestown mkt., please let me know..doesn't matter what brand, but they must say Mason on the side.
A few of us have been getting a pic now and then of Frieda or Frodo, but it is anything but a total picture of what's going on there. Even Greg is acting like nothing is happening yet.
But Froona, one of the commenters on the Forum, has a Peregrine Blog of her own, and you won't believe how many pictures of the pair she has been getting.
Click on the link below and take a look. It's probably best to start toward the bottom of the page, because the latest pics are at the top.
I think we might be getting some nesting action down under sooner than we thought.
I hear ya, Margy....I miss the M&M girls like crazy.....was thinking about coming up to see them next week, but don't know their schedule, just know they are back in their day-care school
All the talking we do about food, and old stuff....Today is the 100th birthday of Hydrox cookies. They are back on the shelf for a few months after having been discontinued five years ago. They are the only commercial cookie I ever ate as a kid--all that mom would buy!--and gotta say that I sure prefer them over Oreo's!! Also, does anyone here on the east coast remember Charles Chips? They came in a big tin can and were sold by home delivery. Cracker Barrell carries them...and I keep forgetting to buy some to see if they are still as good as they were when I was a kid!
I never met a chocolate chip cookie I didn't like.. Hey Margy, a company has generously offered to donate 60 mason jars to our project, this should solve our Mason jar shortage.
Oh Lord!! Another panda cam. I am going to get fired for sure!! Can never get enough panda cams. I wonder how many there are in the world, panda cams, I mean?
OKAY MEGAN, regarding the jars....just keep us posted if that does not seem to be enough. Big Lots in Martinsburg still has two or three dozen quart size,(new) Mason "Golden Harvest" jars...and I have two single jars in my cupboard if you need them. xo
SISSY - We had a fuzzy view of one eagle (maybe two) this morning way before sunrise...it seems to have spent the night in the nest.... that's all that I know of...
Mrs. Riffe is doing pretty good, really. She is confused some of the time but I think alot of that is a variation of Sundowner's syndrome that the elderly sometimes get in institutional settings. We have pics on the wall, family and Thomas Kinkade. I just want her to be home but I know that is not practical right now, so I am practicing surrender and realizing it is about her and what is best, not me (really??, no way).
Sissy - are you pleased with the care she is getting there? I know you had some concerns about the place...and, does she have a room-mate? And the usual question. "How's the food"?"
I am having a time getting past what I think about this place, but she is happy and very satisfied. She is in a private room now but she visits others nearby as much as she can. She walked the length of the hall yesterday (with help, but still). I am hoping we can get her home soon.
Her daughter works there, so that is a good thing. She keeps an eye on her and we all visit at all hours throughout the day.
That sounds pretty encouraging, especially having the relative there...Private rooms have their advantages, especially, for the families and raucous visits!

ANNE-MARIE: We are home and waiting to hear from you....but there are no Eagles home, sorry.
Good Evening Everyone--home from the Panda condo! We did see all 3 taking panda naps---1 outside, Tai I think, sleeping on a corner grate right up against the glass. Mei & Tian were inside.Sloth bears got fed dried insect treats thru small vacuum hose that goes into fake termite mounds. Yum Yum!!Lots of little otters out, too! Downloading camera, so there's room for tomorrows trip to new Butterfly Garden at Natural History.
Margy I have learned ther are many kinds of squirrels out there. We dont have the pretty red tailed bushy one you do in the east. We have ground squirrels which are brown and skinny and tree squirrels which are gray.
Went to Good Will today to check on a toy and a puzzle I saw yesterday...found a beautiful yellow sweatshirt with monarch butterflies across the front, and one little caterpillar hanging from a "thread" - figured it was meant for me so I got it!
Now, it will be few months until it's cold enough to wear it, but so what!@
ANNE-MARIE: AT LEAST YOU CAN TALK BACK TO YOUR "BOSS" AND COMPLAIN WITHOUT GETTING INTO ANY TROUBLE! TELL "HER" SHE IS WORKING YOU TO HARD! AND THAT YOU NEED A RAISE! XO
Since having the nightmare of the squirrel living in the apartment between my ceiling and the upstairs apartment floor for 18 months (!) - I can't say I have a great fondness for them these days...that thing wreaked havoc here! But they are hilarious to watch...and they are very beautiful, and clever indeed! Saw a flying squirrel in Shepherdstown years ago, that was a hoot!
Deb, if it ain't no good, it wasn't my recipe, I stole it. If it is good, it is indeed mine! Mine did turn out good. It was a recipe I found on the internet but I kinda of tweaked it around some, added brown sugar, and changed the crust to that easy crust. I am always looking for the easier, softer way.
AML...if you are still on here, I loved the video of "Water". Played it twice just to hear "Il Divo" sing. Gives me goose bumps. My favorite group of singers.
I did get kidnapped! lol Had a great time with gd Alexis - stickers, coloring, make believe grocery shopping - all kinds of things. Her dad always comes up for dinner and visit.
Peach Cobbler - Now Deb is in on it! She may be divulging in it by now! See what you started Sissy! lol
Welcome back to us Anne! You have been keeping busy! But we have missed your being around.
Loretta - glad your day went well & just know you'll love all those butterflies tomorrow. Hope your daughter is enjoying her stay.
Margy, we had a nest of flying squirrels in an old tree when we first moved here. A storm knocked the tree down and we haven't seen them since. Beautiful to watch as they glide through the air. They must be fairly rare. I have never seen them anywhere but here.
Wanda - we were talking the other evening about going down to Loretta's end of the woods.. Of course we were going to rent the eagle express and fill it up with gas! lol
Paula, depends on the pan. For an 8 x 8 pan, probably 8-10 peaches would be enough, 1 cup flour, 1 cup milk, and 1 cup sugar for the crust. For a bigger pan, just adjust. I just keep peeling till the pan is almost full. Blanch em first and peeling comes right off.
I ate my cobbler, but I used a bigger pan. I had both out and at the last minute picked the big one. I decided when it was cooking that I made the wrong choice of pans, should have jumped on and asked. The flavor was still very good, just a little thin for the crust. :)
Jo, I just noticed your comment about a trip to see Loretta. Already talked to Gene about it and he said he is game. He is in Elkins right now and we are going to Va. Beach for his Birthday next week for a few days...after that we are free (For the most part). We talk later.
Wanda, forgot to say that my Bill's camp is at Buffalo Gap in Hampshire Co. BTW...I'm Sloopy Farkledunkin! Good night, my "Wanbli" friends! Sweet dreams and blessings for all.
Great Sea Eagles additions to the album, DEB. - "A beak like a meat cleaver." I'll say! Good night all, I conked out on the couch and missed all the "GoodNights." Wahh...
T-Bird and all the early morning risers...I'm not going to make it to morning light..sleep schedule all blown away...going to bed just now.. Take Care, hope you see some feathery friends this morning.
One last thing: Sea Eagles have been on the Finney Water nest for a couple of hours now, maybe they will still be there; the other Finney Nest has been Empty for a few hours now..
Good morning everyone. Just wanted to get on and say Congrats to Dave. I know you will enjoy retirement. I won't be on for awhile. Will be in Cape Cod next week. Everyone have a good week and Mason wake up.

I remember Charlies Chips. They made home deliverys and picked up your empty can and gave you a full one. I loved them too.

SISSY -
We had a fuzzy view of one eagle (maybe two) this morning way before sunrise...it seems to have spent the night in the nest....
that's all that I know of...
Thanks magpie. Maybe they will grace us with their presence here in a bit before dark.
I think I am the eagle jinx. I have watched two nights in a row and no visits. Off to feed dogs and myself.
Well - they sure have their own schedules....hope we see some in the morning too.
Take Care, al;
xo
that big white glowing blob at about one o'clock position towards the middle of the nest is about giving me heart failure though...
I know magpie, at first I thought it was an eagle's head.
Yes - - and now, it's Gone ??
Just a something or other with the camera and the night's light I guess...?
How is Tom's Mother, Sissy ?
Happy Family at Wildwatch Osprey,
parent, two chicks..
Anybody Home?
Just caught the end of The Doctor in Indie. That is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Great lessons to be learned from it.
Hi, Anne-Marie! We are home, come on in.
That sounds pretty encouraging, especially having the relative there...Private rooms have their advantages, especially, for the families and raucous visits!

ANNE-MARIE: We are home and waiting to hear from you....but there are no Eagles home, sorry.
I give up. I've tried three times now to answer and my blog disapears. Oh well.
Got to go. BBL
Downloading camera, so there's room for tomorrows trip to new Butterfly Garden at Natural History.
ok, I'm back, my step son is here to mow my lawns
Well, that was a fly-by, Anne, but hope you got to see that we were GLAD TO "SEE" YOU...
Sounds like a nice Zoo visit, Loretta....bet you are excited about the butterfly garden tomorrow!
I saw a Giant Swallowtail in my yard yesterday: what a surprise!
xo
I have a new squirrel family living in my big bird house. They are driving the cat nuts. Two teens, mom and dad.
Loretta we have a big butterfly garden at Marine Land near us. I love when the land on me.
I saw a squirrel today with a tail that was striped like a racoon!
(uh, don;'t think that is a possible match...) but it was pretty!
Hi AML... have you settled into retirement yet?
Could be Margy, we have some perverted animals out there! lol
Wanda I may have to go back to work to get a rest. I'm beat.
Margy I have learned ther are many kinds of squirrels out there. We dont have the pretty red tailed bushy one you do in the east. We have ground squirrels which are brown and skinny and tree squirrels which are gray.
MARGY, what did the squirrel smell like:)
Wanda are you ready for Holloween? Are you going to be available for our get together in October?
1st step of peach cobbler is in the oven. Can't wait to eat it!
Annemarie, we have been wondering whre you were?
WANDA - You could be right there...

Well Mits I hope it wasnt black and white like my stripped kitty.
ANNE-MARIE: AT LEAST YOU CAN TALK BACK TO YOUR "BOSS" AND COMPLAIN WITHOUT GETTING INTO ANY TROUBLE! TELL "HER" SHE IS WORKING YOU TO HARD! AND THAT YOU NEED A RAISE! XO
I've been running around Mits. It feels so good not to be chained to a desk all day. I could get used to this.
Well....I wasn't going to mention, but it was, unfortunately, road kill, the squirrel I saw....
I think Alexis kidnaped Mema!
Lucky her!
lol.....yuck:)
Maggy my boss is a 11 year old dog that alows me to live here.
I mighta considered cooking up some dessert, but the A/C is on the fritz and I don't dare! Sure would like some peach cobbler though...
Loretta, did you run into any Asian Trail Volunteers?
Tai was the one on the grate by the window, one of his favorite spots
Since having the nightmare of the squirrel living in the apartment between my ceiling and the upstairs apartment floor for 18 months (!) - I can't say I have a great fondness for them these days...that thing wreaked havoc here! But they are hilarious to watch...and they are very beautiful, and clever indeed! Saw a flying squirrel in Shepherdstown years ago, that was a hoot!
Come to SD and I'll have some for you. You can come see the ospreys and meet Janie, too.
Sharon and Mattie just came out and got some peach cobbler, so I had to eat some too. Ain't no wonder I am so round!!!
Loretta, did you tell them I love them!! (Wish I was a panda!)
I have the second step in the oven, won't be long now.
I need to feed the help. BBL
Deb, did you use my recipe?
Well, geez, I guess we should all head to Deb's house....
Yes, I am using your recipe, Sissy. Come on over, Megan! Too bad I am half way across the country. :(
I see another FIELD TRIP for the Eagle Express! Bluefield and then on to Vermillion.

Come on down Wanda!! We will find a place to put the Eagle Express. Then we will ride with you to Vermillion.
I did get kidnapped! lol
Had a great time with gd Alexis - stickers, coloring, make believe grocery shopping - all kinds of things.
I bought peaches and tomatoes tonight...might not be enough peaches left for cobbler by the time I get done with em! They are sooooooooo good!
Margy, we had a nest of flying squirrels in an old tree when we first moved here. A storm knocked the tree down and we haven't seen them since. Beautiful to watch as they glide through the air. They must be fairly rare. I have never seen them anywhere but here.
Paula, peaches are good frozen and eaten like a popsicle.
I have been on a cobbler kick for a month now. Had blackberry cobbler the other day, think me and Sharon ate the whole thing.
How many peaches do you need for your cobbler, Sissy?
We are definately going to go on a field trip somewhere. Timeing has to be right for everyone. It would be such fun!
Capt. Gene makes apple cobbler with Bisquick topping. Not as good as the real thing, but it's quick and easy. Put it in a bowl with cold milk...ummm!
Blanch em first and peeling comes right off.
well I have been up since 5, starting to get tired.....just could not take a panda nap...so GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE!!!!! WAKE UP MASON.....NOW!!!!
Good Night Mits!
Good nite Mits!!! Sleep tight!! Sweet eagle dreams.
Well, I am hitting the sack. Sweet dreams all.
WAKE UP MASON, PLEASE WAKE UP!!!!
Good Night, Helen. Oh, by the way, I think I saw you and Jubby on Anne-Marie's "Water" video.
Me too, long day.. nite all:)
wake up please, Mason
Deb, are you eating your cobbler? :):)
I ate my cobbler, but I used a bigger pan. I had both out and at the last minute picked the big one. I decided when it was cooking that I made the wrong choice of pans, should have jumped on and asked. The flavor was still very good, just a little thin for the crust. :)
Glad it was tasty, Deb.
Gonna have to go get some more peaches...ate too many tonight!
Gnite all...see ya tomorrow!
Good Night, Sissy and Megan. Sleep tight.
Good Night, Paula. Sweet dreams.
I guess Anne-Marie isn't coming back tonight. Wanted to chat a bit.
