oh norma, i hate when that happens. I have double doors here by my desk and that has happened to me before. I try to put a cling on the window or something to break it up so they can see it. But sometimes, it just don't work.
Hi everyone. Hope your weekend waas great and that your day is going well enough. I am so sorry to read aobut the cardinal mishap Norma. I hate that thud sound I hear occasionally on my back window. I do what I can to keep down glare and the look inside like there is a plant or some green vegetation that looks good to fly to etc. Many times I jsut draw the shade when I am not in the room/ Keeps the sunroom cooler anyway but sure doesn't keep it very sunny. Need to change the name to the Shady bird room.
PAULA---I'm glad they moved 'LITTLE SMOKEY"----Several bears have been hit by cars up on I68 in MD---& In WV too!!!---They have been seen in back yards in wooded areas!!---BEARS have been pushed out --- everyone is building houses up in the mts!!! Thanks for the update on the little bear!!!
Thanks kids!---My window is on my carport & very few birds fly in -- usually when it happens--they will fly away later!!---I know I was more upset because it was a RED CARDINAL!!----
Hello Eagle Buds! Been trying to get on here since about 7:30!!Hoping to see AM visitors. Emailed a couple of you to see if it was just my recently bombarded 'puter. Jo sent me blog link, but it only went to my Nook! Went on old 'puter & Searched & finally got one link to open!!And that's enough about that. If things are still screwy today, I'm calling my anti-virus co.Even tho I set pop-up blocker to highest level, fake anti-virus co. is still coming in w/IE title bar! Gonna catch up.
Norma - sorry to hear about the cardinal. Once while driving a mourning dove flew right into the windshield of my car - I thought I was going to have heart failure & I was the mourning one afterwards. NORMA sent you a pic from last night of our owl family!
I sympathize about the bird casualties. When I was going to work last week, a blackbird flew in front of car.Thought it made it, but "thunk"--hit the radio antenna.I thought about it all day, too & took dif. road home. I see some others had trouble getting on too. This weekend is the first time we'/ve had issues w/invaders on 'puter. MS & anti-virus show notices now & then about blocking/disabling things.DUH I heard on news last night that Baby Bear was being taken to Gambrills. (Think my boss lives there!LOL)
Howdy Everyone, no cam in Martinsburg either...found the blog site on Google so at least I can "see" you guys..not for long, worked over four hours, now can hardly type at all with a bunch of typoes and re-strikes...
zzzzzzzz Definitely time for a looooooooonnnnnnng Panda Nap. Back in at Midnight tonight.
One thousand purebred dogs are looking for homes after the Humane Society took them from a West Virginia puppy mill in one of the state's largest animal rescue operations.
Sharon Roberts, the owner of Whispering Oaks Kennels in Parkersburg since 1961, denied any wrongdoing. She agreed to give up about 1,000 dogs, mostly dachshunds, rather than face possible prosecution. Roberts also agreed to never operate a dog-breeding business again.
The Humane Society says the dogs were never let out of their cages and rarely touched by human beings. Roberts disputes the allegations.
The Washington chapter of the Humane Society is loading up to visit the rescue location. Crews will bring some dogs back to make available for adoption.
Hi Gang. Left this link on the old 'puter. Glad I did--went on other 'puter & when clicking on NCTC link it says "Site Not Available". Guess if you're on, you need to stay on. Was outside & saw a Coopers Hawk perched in neighbor's tree. Afterwhile, all the little songbirds came back to feeder so I went in backyard & chased them away. Hawk stayed around even tho I was around-------finally gone now.
Hi all! Just caught Helen's e-mail w/ the link! Sure have missed you all! Sad, sad story about the dachshunds...talk about disreputable breeders. Bev, you need more doxies!!?? Glad things worked out with the bear cub yesterday...hard to think that mama bear would just kick it out to fend for itself...at only 100 lbs., it could easily lose a battle with a large dog or a vehicle. Another hurricane threatening... I had a catbird fly right at the truck yesterday, but he veered just in time to save his own life! Lovely day here, but cool. I am still recovering from yesterday's DC trip...y-a-w-n!! No energy at all! School's in here as of today! Margy, thought I heard you this morning past your scheduled time!! Bet you are really pooped!
Hi Lynn, isn't it amazing how quickly conditions can change. It doesn't seem very long ago that I was complaining that our garden was so wet that we couldn't get in it. Now it is so dry the plants are drying up. We can only water for a short while because our well gets muddy. I guess Megan is having water hauled in, bless her heart...she works so hard. I did my rain dance today at NOON but, I guess I didn't have the bounce in my step like I used to....not even a sprinkle.
Well, I was finally able to get on NCTC!!!! I've talked for a couple days about 'puter wannabe invasions. When I'm on IE, a supposed Antivirus 2009 or AntiVirus 64 pops on w/IE top border & wants to do a FREE scan. When I click cancel, it tries to scan anyway.I had set popups to highest level & also turned on Firewall. It just popped up anyway! Is anybody else getting these? I just did a whole virus rescan & no threats found. DUH
Hawk came back & parked on top of fence right behind the feeder!!!No one was home!He went next door to lurk. Heating up leftover crabs, so will be busy for a yummy while!
Good evening. I am pooped today, can't remember the cute saying about slam, but that is me. I left the birds early, went to grocery store, got gas, truck is clean and now time to relax.
We had excitement all day long. Baldy, Jr. was back and stealing fish today. I think he figured out that would be an easy way to get dinner, steal from the young osprey! It was a little scary during the chases, but osprey can out fly the eagle, smaller and can turn fast. Baldy, Jr did get the fish, though.
Hi Everyone, read todays comments. Don't know if I'll get caught up on the rest. I've been reading news about the "puppy mill". People that are shut down usually just go to another state and start up again. Of course, some don't. Hope she doesn't. One Momma dog used as a machine to put out puppies had an "old" injury. Can't be placed one of the volunteers is taking it and going to care for her the rest of her life. I'll have to try to read about the bear.
Just think this season the 1st eaglet or eaglets (that were 4 yrs old) came back into area. Next season will be those eaglets/eagles that will be 5 and then the ones that will be 4. Wonder where they will all find to build a nest at???
Thx Paula, I got it--won't download even tho I added it to secure list. But I've got DEP set on high, too. Try it tomorrow---got 2 more crabs to tackle!
When I pulled up pop-up cam, it said 7:49, now it's getting Spideyish!
Whoa! I got here just in time to see that I missed it ALL! :( I had tried the cam and at that time it was still down - then for some unknown reason the power went off & shut everything down. Soooooo when I decided to try it all again -- MT NEST!
I am so glad that you all got your Eagle Fix tonight!
Oooh, I forgot to tell you that Gabby's tail feathers aren't bad enough that it will prevent releasing him. Today when he was calmer, we got a good look at them. We will just have to fix some wing feathers!
Hi Deb! That is good news about Gabby. I am sure you all would not release him IF you didn't think he could make it out in the "Bad World" to quote a phrase used by an Osprey Handler!
I am so glad and know you are too about having this experience!
He is still getting meds for fungal infection, but he is looking good. He will go to Raptor Center next Tuesday for a check up. Janie will take him so she can learn how to do this test. That way next year we won't have to send someone to St. Paul.
Wow! Sounds like great exciting Eagle Viewing earlier! Life is Good, even though I had to sleep through it all...

By some quirk of fate, the WE camera is on again; and the view is focused even farther to the left now.
You do have a good view of a grassy hillside, a fog bank and the Pacific Ocean a fair distance from the shore.

Yes, Wanda, it seems like feast or famine on the rain scale! Even the weeds are dying...which is good! Saving gas money not having to mow!
Nature - sounds like a problem with malware/adware.
Go to this website and download ad-aware...it's on the right...and it's free...might find your pop up problem
http://www.lavasoft.com/
Dead weeds here too...haven't mowed in weeks...
Deb - I think the expression is Slam wore out! :):)
Gotta go feed the pesty pups!
That's it, Paula! So tired I ordered pizza, no cooking here tonight. Might be back later, off to rest.
Hi, I was able to get into the blog AND the pop-up cam using links I made last year ... didn't try beakspeak this evening though.
Live feed isn't working yet though...not much action now anyway.
Good link to Mason's site. Thanks.
Going to read some more on the Dachshunds....
Oh, by the way, if you are using FireFox, there is an upgrade available to FF 3.0. Supposed to be faster and safer, etc. Time will tell.

Thanks for the info Paula on the WE cam. I never did download Neocast.
I guess ZZ is not going to make an appearance.
Hi Deb! That is good news about Gabby. I am sure you all would not release him IF you didn't think he could make it out in the "Bad World"
to quote a phrase used by an Osprey Handler!
I am so glad and know you are too about having this experience!
Great news, Deb.
here's a video that shows the current WE view...not sure if Dr S is going to change the SR non neo back to the WE or not...

Gnite, all!
Good night everyone, fell asleep on the couch, off to bed. I put a picture of Baldy, Jr. chasing one of the osprey on my page. Not the best picture, it was too far away. I couldn't get them to come closer.
SEA EAGLE IS BACK...
I was signing off and found the sea eagle, too. They are so pretty!
they are just an amazing raptor
Both again, looking down the hole!
wonder what they are looking for???? probably the petrified osprey eggs
I didn't think of that, you could be right.
omg...George has probably gone international
the little bugger is probably down the hole...ok good night again
That was my first thought!
Me, too. I hate to shut down when they are there, but sleep will be great!
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SLEEP TIGHT
PRAYERS FOR ALL....TIME TO WAKE UP MASON.
GOOD MORNING .....I got up just in time!
It is an EAGLE ALERT!!!
Yes, It is! One in the nest for sure- wish we could clear off that darn spiderweb...
Not sure now if it is an eagle or Spidey...I see a bright white something in the middle of the nest.
I can see a little better now....it is Lib.
Hi, Megan. I think he just popped in a few minutes ago. It's worth getting up early to see this.
Good morning Megan and Wanda!! Our beautiful Lib is in the nest!! What a great way to start the day. We are getting lots of rain down our way. Ya'll getting any?
Maybe both now??
Good Morning Sissy, No rain here! But good for you, maybe it is working it's way up here. Hope so.
I think that is Belle under the camera. Oh, wish we could see better.
I can only see one but spidey's art work makes it hard to see. I think you are right, I think that is Belle. Such beautiful, beautiful creatures.
It is really hard to have to watch our couple like this after whe had Live Feed for so long (off and on, that is).
Hope this weather runs it's course before the weekend. Going to the lake of course, plus our big opening high school football game is Friday night!!
Oh yes...they are both there!!
Morning you guys:) Radar shows rain coming at us- supposed to be raining by this afternoon.
both there now!!!!
Sounds like a fun weekend, Sissy.
Sounds good, Megan!!
And then there were none....
Still one there, I think it is Belle. Oh wait, Lib is back too!!
I was reading e-mails and see Lib has popped back in.
He's getting ready for a take-off.
Thanks for the visit Lib & Belle. It just really makes you feel good to know that our Royal Couple are still around! Starts our day off just right!
Gone now!
The hummers are already at it heavy out here on my feeders. Busiest time of the year for them.
Yep, hummers are feeding heavy here to. They leave our area around the 25 of September.
I think it is around that time for us too. They are so much fun to watch. Little scrappers for sure.
I hate it when they leave..the garden gets so lonely...
NEW THREAD IS UP!
I was looking in my butterfly cage- all the remaining chrysalis are hatching this morning, 4 monarchs and 1 black swalowtail.
