Egg roll after egg roll

659 am Scout arrives at the nest. Bella greets him.

700 am Bella gets up and takes off. Scout does little egg roll and settles in. Switch to Scout.

749 Bella lands at the nest.

750 Switch to Bella. Scout exits. Bella egg rolls and takes over incubation.

905 Here Comes Miss Bella to relieve Mr Eagle Scout of his duties for some reason he keeps looking up when she was in the nest I was wondering if there's someone flying over

907 a.m. he at the nest switch to Miss Bella

9:45 Mr Eagle Scout is playing with the bedding tossing it around

1150 we have another shift change Changing of the Guard

Interesting fact I thought I would share temperature of our Eagles and incubation now we know how warm our eggs get

The internal body temperature of an eagle is ~ 105 F. The adults have a brood patch that allows direct skin contact with the eggs for maximum heat transfer. The nest is well insulated with dry grass so the incubating eggs could be ~ 90 - 100 F, depending on the outside temperatures. For comparison, the ideal temperature for incubating chicken eggs is 99.5 F.
