Hello, still plugging away at work.. have about 40 min left of shift. We are swapping back and forth between 2nd and third shift. Pretty much day shift is home.
Boss lady has some good cookin going. Snow is still coming down. Our request for Air Guard Humv's were denied. GO figure!!! State of emergency and it was denied. Officers are all getting stuck. I will be going to sleep soon and getting up to do another shift. This I am sure... probably midnight tonight till noon tomorrow. I think at this point it is the only option. But Boss lady will determine. Either way, I am here with no way home since road crews arent touching secondary roads and officers are not going to get us home anytime soon.
Talked to Jenn, she and Toby are fine. Still have power....thank god.

Don't like seeing the nest this way but I agree with all so happy no EGGIES are in it

snow is still coming down at the nest I wonder if we will get a visit by the royal pair just to check out the nest

Good to see so many folks checking in. Many of us not in the storm are just gonna sit here and sprout more gray hairs and wrinkles unless we do hear from each of you here or via a message. I wish it would just stop now already but I guess that's not gonna be happening for a while yet. Humans need to be taking best care of themselves as they can during the storm. Can help the critters you can't reach later once the storm ends. They may be a little stressed but they will get through too and wait for you.

good morning ...checking in to see how all my eagle friends are....sounds as if everyone is tucked in and staying safe. the nest is MT and I see the flakes a flyin' beautiful land lies behind. glad as well there are no eggs ....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ED! have a wonderful year!
I think we have around 10 inches of snow out there. I checked in with work and thankfully they are thinking and smart, closed today and not attempting to open til 2 tomorrow.

hope everyone has a warm and safe day.....

tour is on

Kay said...

Not much to be seen on tour today, just snow, snow and more snow. Our eagles must be hiding their heads under their wings in some sheltered spot.

Kay said...

Son in NJ reports 14 inches of snow on the ground and still falling. They expect about 2 feet before it's over. They're 40 miles south of NYC in Darth's old neck of the woods and close to PAULA's son and d.i.l..

Time for lunch and then some indoor walking for me and a game or two with Penny, meeting her exercise needs for the day.

Take care all! My prayers are with you!

stronghunter said...

Yes, Kay. Lots of snow on the tour. I do hope the eagles are hiding in a safe spot somewhere. We have to remember that they are tough birds.

Lynne2 said...

1:45 and all is well. HA....NOT! It's an epic disaster here....BBL

Lynne2 said...

NYC has closed ALL roads.

Fishing pier in OC is severely damaged...make that mostly missing.

Lynne2 said...

♫ Happy Birthday Dearest Ed! ♫

Lynne2 said...

It took 15 minutes to walk, make that plow through the snow. Horses are OK. TR has some cuts but nothing serious. Sore stifles, too. No doubt! I fell twice. They were soft landings but no fun getting up!

No way to get the dogs down the steps to the yard, or rather, where the grass used to be. We are now using the "poop deck". Just makes more sense, and we can scrub it down later.

Mema Jo said...

Afternoon check in: Still snowing but winds not too bad now. I have been throwing
seeds and peanuts out on my big 26" snow drift on the deck. I have mainly little juncos, wren couple, many Mr and Mrs Reds and a chubby lady mourning dove. So happy they are finding the seeds. I wish I had been able to put out suet down at the tree as I did see a Downey there yesterday.

No talon prints in the nest so I am assuming our Royal Couple is safely in another tree - hopefully a pine.

Margy and Carolyn - thank you gals for manning 911 during this time. So happy Jennifer and Toby are doing well. Great not to have to worry.

Sandi - OC and Dewey really having ocean flooding - FB has videos and reports. Still praying your canal is below level!

Thanks to all for b-day wishes - I have relayed all your messages to hubby.

We have had 3-4 younger men who live here in our circle out with their snow blowers and our driveway is now passable. Not that we are going any place - really can't get out our side door without some shoveling and cars won't be cleaned off until tomorrow.

So that is how things are going! So are very well. Good time for a feet up hour. BBL

grannyblt said...

The nest area has much less snow coming down than an hour ago, but still windy. Still no sign of the royal couple.

Sandi said...

Hi all - checking in from South Bethany. It's still raining here and the wind is still blowing big time but all of the canal water has stayed in the canal so far. We still have 2 more high tide cycles to get through before we can relax - one around 8pm and another around 8am tomorrow morning. The power has stayed on and so has the cable/internet service.

The houses across the street from us DO have power and the missing dog from early this morning found her way home. I have not taken a nap, even though I didn't get much sleep last night - I'm sure I'll be in bed early tonight.

I used today to book our flight to and from Mexico City over spring break. I have been watching the airfares for about a week and they have stayed the same. according to Lynnis, ticket prices tend to go up when you get within 60 days of a trip and go up again when you get within 30 days of a trip. Plus, since it's Easter week, a lot of people will be traveling, so I decided to just git-er-done.

Jo, happy birthday to Ed!

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm through the blizzard. I truly wish we were getting snow instead of rain.

Later.

Hoda said...

Good to read you are all mostly doing well.
Praises, Praises, Praises.
Happy Birthday to Mr. Ed
SANDI I am glad you booked your tickets. Lynnis is right about the prices.
Happy that young people are out and about blowing away the snow with machines...Bless them
MEGAN had amazing snow pictures on FB!!! WOW !!!
I will check back in. WOndered about Magpie if she was working and GOD BLESS her and all the First Responders. Not so good that they did not get the Humvees though CAROLYN.Stay safe.
Will check in later...I hope the power stays on...and water and internet too...keep your batteries charged every one. If you do not need to go out, do not...
The BEST and the SAFEST weekend possible to you all...

glo said...

oh yeah overall folks are fairing very well. So glad. So grateful for 911 workers. Awesome folks. Happy Birthday to Ed. I went out with friends to enjoy eagles this afternoon. Only half dozen around but light and action good. Temp in the 20's. Good times.

Mema Jo said...

Early evening check in - snow still coming down and no main street plows until tomorrow when it finally stops. Must be 30" now.

Dinner is finished - and if electricity stays on I think I have a choice out of 3 movies - they all are new and come at the same time!

Happy that all is well with everyone.

stronghunter said...

Hi,

I see that snow plow--at least I think that's what it is--at the nest again tonight. Still see snow falling there, and the wind is blowing hard.

Lolly said...

So, everyone still has power! We are still in Denton. Jacob won his game, Subway for lunch then Jack had a job. Jacob got a new loft bed this week. They put it together then decided it was too tall. So, with great difficulty Jack and Laurel took it apart. Cutting off 8" was easy. Now they are putting it back together.....with great difficulty. I have helped a little bit have been doing laundry. Joey had drivers Ed so he was no help. Hopefully will start home soon.

Ashley has posted pictures of her and Zach in NYC. I am wondering WHY did she go this weeken? Everyone knew this storm was coming!!!

Mema Jo said...

Suzan in NC had lost power, I thought. Some other NC friends has said their power has been restored.
I hope that includes our Suzan

7:32pm and all is well

I'm still trying to find something out of Wanda......

Lynne2 said...

Phase three snow plan in Balto. City. Roads are closed. Only emergency vehicles and plows. OMG.
Ocean City downtown is under water.

This sucks.

The wind is cranking up here again. WHY WHY WHY and it's still snowing....

Mema Jo said...

I cannot find Ashley's pic, Lolly . I was looking on FB

Judie said...

Good evening.

Seems everyone is doing reasonably well.

Suzan may still be without power and Lynne2 seems to be having some trials and tribulations but, overall, everyone is safe.

Happy Birthday to Mr. Jo, aka Ed. Anticipation of dinner at Dutch's should help get him through this snowy mess.

Hello to Hoda. Thank you for your concern.

Hi Margy. Thanks to you and Carolyn and all the emergency people. Stay safe and dry.

Nest is sparkly white.

Winds have quieted here. Must have 3+ ft of snow.

Headed to my recliner and then the pillows.

Stay safe. Restful sleep for all.

Lynne2 said...

I have located Wanda on FB and advised her that she is wanted by Eaglet Momsters....LOL!

CarolAnne said...

Continuing prayers for everyone's safe keeping.
Is front edge of nest starting to appear to be in disarray?
I don't recall those sticks protruding before.
Or has the wind just blown the snow off of them and made them visible again?
Take care everyone.

Lolly said...

Jo, I will post Ashley's pic on the fb blog!

Lolly said...

We are home now! Took us a while. Lots of construction, lanes closed. So we took an early exit, toured the country side and took the loop around Ft. Worth. Have finally eaten and going to watch a movie.

Posted pics of Zach in the snow at NYC on fb messenger! Ash took him for the Springsteen concert that has been postponed! Grrrrr! Where was her common sense?

Janet said...

good evening to one and all. its been a good day . hopefully everyone is tucked safely in their homes, warm and dry.

stayed home most of the day. a bit more shoveling was done by tom and livvy. I baked a cake, cleaned a little....nothing too extreme.

our neighbor has a bobcat and plowed our street and the adjoining street so we can get around a bit. still lots and lots of ice on back streets and snow everywhere, so its slow going, but can be done If need be.

we went down a couple of streets to tom's cousin's house. he has a good sledding hill. I haven't been on a sled since 93? it was fun. the walking back up, not so much fun, of course, had to be really careful because the road was solid ice.

we had fun. then we visited for a short bit and are now home. thinking a dip in the hot tub will be a lovely ending to this evening! hugs and love to all! SED

NCSuzan said...

Hello everyone!

We got power back about an hour ago. Originally they said it would be Monday! But so far so good. We have been campers so we had lanterns, stoves and such so we were fine. My oxygen company brought me an extra liquid oxygen tank and I was very grateful. The thing I really missed was using the nebulizer. Really can tell a difference not having access to those drugs.

Can't believe the amount of snow everyone is getting. Wow!
Please be careful and take no chances.

Happy Birthday Mr. Ed! Hope you have enjoyed the day.

Thinking of you all.....

NCSuzan said...

Margy, super fantastic that you dropped in. Take care friend.

NCSuzan said...

One last thing. Make sure your phones and such are charged up.

stronghunter said...

Yes, keep your phones charged, but don't forget that if you have a car charger, you can always charge the phone there.

stronghunter said...

So glad you got your power back, Suzan.

stronghunter said...

One thing I wanted that I didn't find was Sterno. I used it to cook when we lost our power thanks to Hurricane Isabel. I made a stove out of a coffee can by punching holes with a can opener. It worked very well. But so far, we have not lost power.

glo said...

ok typed a long message but it is either drifted over or blown asunder so I will just say SED and AOYP

Lynne2 said...

Heading for bed soon. Very exhausted and emotionally drained. I'm probably going to be a bit sore from our treks through the drifts...downhill to the barn but uphill back. And all over again tomorrow....
All of this and then to read that Zach was scheduled to see Springsteen....OMG! I believe this tour is the 35th year anniversary of the River album and I saw him on the original tour! Uh...I mean, I would have if I were that old.....LOL!

No one affiliated with this place has even called to see how we are making out here. I don't get it. I hope this is the straw that breaks OG's back.

Suz, so glad your power is back on...YAY! Sounds like you had fun camping "in"!

And Janet, what a great neighbor! He probably really enjoyed helping everyone...when I have lived in neighborhoods, I loved helping the neighbors who really couldn't shovel themselves. Warm and Fuzzy rocks!

OH...and it was great to hear from Margy today.....anyone else think she might have herself a fellow? ;)
I'm going with that because I hate to think that it's problems taking her time from her.

Jewels...hope you are asleep at home by now, or at least getting some shut eye at work! Not while you are working of course...LOL!

Glad Jerry checked in and CarolAnne too!

Bet Megan will be able to get some sleep tonight...she's been a busy girl!

BREAKING NEWS....There were two records set today in Baltimore.... the Blizzard 2016. Top single day of snow (officially 29 inches) and all time top storm total. WOOT!

I will see you all on the morrow, will check in. Have my contact numbers just in case the power goes out.

Costume Lady said...

Hello everyone...
I typed a very long comment an hour or so ago and blog wouldn't post me comment...couldn't remember my password, so I changed it. Let's see if that works??

Costume Lady said...

It worked! I'll re-post what I can remember tomorrow.
I am doing just fine here in 27 inches of snow and a neighbor with a snow plow and plenty of food and water.
Good night my friends, see you tomorrow. XXXOOO

Mema Jo said...

Checking in to see that all is well!

Everything is ok here-------our county plows are NOT plowing tonight - too icy even
for them. They have them parked at all the fire stations to be used in emergencies.
Tomorrow am they will start on the main roads and maybe just maybe on Monday we will see a plow or two.
Our county has cancelled schools for Monday. Very wise thinking!

Goodnight to all
SED & AOYP

Thanks Lynne2 for calling Wanda over.

Hoda said...

Glad to read. WANDA thank you for checking in! I almost phoned you which would have probably been scarier than the storm!!! HA HA HA!!!
Or as the joke goes, " You don't scare me, I went to school with Nuns!!!" that could be your answer.!!!

Glad Suzanne got the power back. I know the sterno experience SHIRLEY from up North days. Yes on battery charges in car. MARGY I am so happy you did not go out to check on people's dogs. A close by neighbour would be more suitable for that task. JO so happy you checked in and I hope the oxygen supply is still holding. Did your son manage to stop in today?

Happy to read your posts. Very happy. It looks awful what is happening back there!
SANDI has not checked in. I was hoping to hear about the midnight tides and if the canal breached. I am hoping not. Love and Light to you all. From here on in MEGAN should be called THE INTREPID MS MEGAN!!! WOW what an pile of snow she has to contend with and all of those plants...my oh my. Putting you all in my prayers...continuing.
Please check in in the morning, as you get up, so we would all know everyone is alright.
WHen you write a long post Copy/save it before you post. My experience with the blog is if two people try to post at the same time, it eats it up...disappear to never never land.
Love and Light to all...

Jewels said...

Good Morning.... Up again , got some shut eye, fell asleep about 2pm and woke up at 8pm...
half a shower in a not so good shower...no water pressure.
Working now, shift midnight to noon... no I have not got to go home. Checked in with Jenn.. she is still good.
she sent me a message that she couldn't get out the front door. So she was able to get the shovel inside thru pushing the door open as much as she could. Bundled up and jumped out her bedroom window. LOL Shoveled her way to the sidewalk, shoveled it and up to the porch and shoveled out the door. LOL She is the best!!!
Home front is 40 couple inches.... I think here at work someone said 38 inches.
AS of right now, secondary roads will not even begin to be cleared till later today.
private contractors cannot get anywhere to do private roads or subdivisions, which is causing huge problems for medics. Finally we got 3 air gaurd humv's at midnight. THey came from Beckley WV... took them 8 hrs to get here
Not sure yet what role they are going to have... police transport, or medical transport...
much to be determined. Thinking as far as right now schedule wise, same schedule for today, Sunday... me off at noon and work again at midnight.

Checking in, all is well. Off to get really sore and tired again! will check in later...

glo said...

gm Just a quick read of the check ins We got this , well sort of . There is big equipment and young muscles to do the shoveling. Please be safe now with the snow removal. Church and then out with the few eagles we have this year is my plans. I will read the blog before heading to the dam however.

Nest is beautiful right now. No sign of Eagles.

Good morning.

What a difference. Blue sky and sunshine.

We are fine. Have not lost power. Thankful.

So glad Wanda checked in and we know she is safe and that Suzan has power and additional oxygen.

Carolyn, happy you got some sleep and Jennifer is okay.

Good reminder to copy before posting. Thanks, Hoda.

Lynne2, would a heart-to-heart with the doctor help? I feel sad for you and Steve and the animals.

Off to brew some coffee.

Stay in and stay warm and safe.

Sandi said...

Goodorming my eagle friends! All is well in South Bethany! As I type this, we are approaching another high tide. The water is higher this morning than any time yesterday - up to the docks, but nowhere near the top of the bulkhead. I kept telling Denny to wait - he was all set to start lugging everything on the ground floor up onto workbenches and up the stairs. By about 10pm, he started to relax.

The rain turned back to snow at the end of the storm here. This morning we have sunshine, blue skies, and 2-3 inches of snow covering everything. Our snow will be gone by Tuesday I bet, while many of you will be looking at it for God knows how long!

At least now we know that it takes a blizzard to get Hoda, Margy, and Wanda back on the blog!

Stay safe everyone as you dig out and venture out. Our nest is MT - no sign of any eagles having visited this morning. I'm sure they are glad the storm is over as well.

Have agreyt day!

Judie said...

Good morning, Sandi.

Glad you had no serious issues.

Now, just a thought, perhaps we could issue blizzard warnings periodically to get Hoda, Wanda, and Margy to stop by to let us know how they are doing. That would be very nice.

Bye

WVJerry said...

Good snowy morning. Nest snow covered and empty. Saw 40.5 inches in Shepherdstown. Guessing about that here. We will try and shovel out today. Our street is still unplowed. Looks like main road is open. So maybe side streets can be plowed soon. Take care all. Melting to start today and then refreezing.

Judie said...

Back again.

Still no feet marks in the nest.

Hi Jerry. Yep, news reports Shepherdstown won the snow count at 41.5 inches.

Mema Jo said...

Good morning to the sunshine and clear blue skies. ALL IS WELL

Carolyn - Jennifer is a little trooper! And she is quite the problem solver. Get a ride in that Humvee to spend some time at home SO YOU CAN GET SOME REST. I hope your 911 phone lines have not been too busy but I can imagine because of how some people just don't use common sense.

Sandi I am happy you are still high and dry - loved the definition about snow is as high as a greyhound is tall! The reports coming out of Ocean City are devastating - So much ocean water all over the streets. Not to mention the damaged dunes.

We have not lost our power so for that I am so thankful.
Happy to see our friends return to check on their safety.
Once a MomsterDadster - always a Momster/dadster
Kids have already call checking on us - I will check back later.

Jewels said...

Oh Momma Jo, nope , not home bound yet... the 3 humv's we finally got are getting stuck everywhere they go. I am off at noon, get some sleep and start over... back on at midnight.
they havent touched secondary roads... all I can say is I hope FEMA comes thru and pays us for our time. We have been very busy with calls. My night started with a structure fire.

Lolly said...

Goodness morning! So good to see Hoda, Margy and Wanda on here!!! Chat with Hoda frequently on messenger and fb, but really miss communication with Wanda and Margy!

So glad you got your power back, Suzan. And, Sandi is high and dry! Yay!

47 here and sunny! Bricks have been dry the last few days and looking forward to more sunny days! Time for the muck to dry up. Sidewalk in back is still under water.

Will talk with Michael today to see when Ash and Zach might possibly get home. How long to get flights back in order?
Still shaking my head that she went! She is intelligent, surely she should have given this more thought!

Time to leave for church! Back later......!

Lolly said...

Lol. Goodness!! Really? How about....Good morning!

stronghunter said...

Good morning,

The snow in the nest looks pristine this morning. Bright and sunny there, and very still. I know I have the live feed because I saw a car go by on the road.

Sunny here, too. We have started digging out. Hunter shoveled the walk--I think he got all the way to the driveway. He wore his shorts to do this task. Kathryn pointed that out.

stronghunter said...

Nice to know that Bethany is in good shape this morning.

Still reading back.

EAGLE IN THE NEST

grannyblt said...

About a ten minute visit. Mainly just looked around

Sandi said...

The eagle in the nest was looking around like I assume many people are looking around today. The caption should read, "Where do I even begin!?"

Have been out and about looking at South Bethany. The water in the canals is higher than it was during the entire storm. Some canals have been breached. There is standing water under some ocean front homes b/c the entire dune in front of them was washed away. Still, no major damage that I could see.

Hoda said...

Even the Eagles came in to check on you all.
Thought so much of LADY LYNN and wanted to say I came for the Eagles and stayed for the friendships I made.

CAROLYN did the Humvees arrive with their normal crew? If they are getting stuck it is worse than I thought! I thought it was pretty awful!

SANDI grateful dog is back, and Jenny did not bolt, and the canal did not breach!
What nerves of steel you have though!!! Asking Denny to wait a bit longer before he moved things off the floor! Yikes, the water was high enough there lady!!! BUT you were right! So there you go.

So proud of JACOB winning his game. Thank you for the Photos LOLLY.

Praying for continued wellness as the storm moves on and you all dig out.

Stay safe.

stronghunter said...

I see eagle prints in the nest. Cam is buffering.

stronghunter said...

Kathryn and Hunter have gone out to shovel. I bought two shovels. I did not buy three. :) Actually, there is at least one shovel in the garage, but no one expects me to shovel anyway. That is good.

Janet said...

good afternoon to all. thinking of each of you as you deal with this massive amounts of snow....thinking of our eagles.....and yes I too wonder where birds shelter in such weather.

40 currently at the house here. melting commences. back roads will remain icy for a bit as they will refreeze tonight.

sure enjoyed sledding last night. lol. the rush like being a kid again, even if just for a few moments.

grannyblt said...

Lollygag, my iPad has that auto correct that sometimes says things I didn't type. I just now see that it gave you a new name, Lolly.

Don't have time to check cam right now. Smart me last night decided to get a jump on the laundry and put in a load to wash before I went to bed. This morning I was greeted by a puddle. I had forgotten to put the antifreeze like stuff in the drain pipe. Mopped that up and suspected the excess water had seeped into the floor recess where the pipes are located. So I've been wringing out fiberglass insulation and trying to get that area dry before it freezes. Yuck. I would rather shovel snow. At least I still have new insulation from two years ago when the water line froze. Hope I get this job done today.

Sandi said...

They're still there - lots of going and coming back. It's amazing to me that an eagle is strong enough to lift a stick the size of the one that was just brought in and carry it 90 feet in the air and into the nest!

Missed the big stick carried in and when I looked at the nest just now was surprised at the change in appearance! They do need more flugg!

Wow, Jo, surprised they made it to your house. Guess they did not want you snow bound. Know the love in your family!

Lydia is injured and they can not get out! What a mess!

Lollygag!!! Lol. Just when I was about to go do my Sunday mopping of the bathrooms and kitchen! Lol

Lolly said...

Margy, did you say they will pick you up in the Morning? I hope so!

Lynne2 said...

Holy moly could I BE any more exhausted? Then I rest a bit and ready to go again. Very tedious work, all this snow....

Steve got the car dug out. Not that we'll be going anywhere! A bit easier getting to the horses today without the wind and pelting snow. I managed to fall twice again...In just about the same places I did yesterday! LOL!

Help is on the horizon...OG says she's going to have her mom drive her over and will pick up some staff on the way. They plan on walking down/up the drive. Actually up at the top it looks like less snow. We can see the cut corn stalks so I think the worst of the drifting is in the barn area where it's the lowest. AND. the good Dr has a crew coming, hopefully in the AM!!

I will not speak of the storm potential for next weekend....it's way too soon....LOL!

Best part of the storm has been the gazillion bird at the feeders! Pics on FB. OH WAIT...I'm posting a link here that should be able for everyone to use... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10207069858576812.1073741882.1591215451&type=1&l=fdcdda4273

I do hope you get help fast, Lynne!

It is really a pretty day except for the wind.

don' worry---save the bob sleds and ambulances for those have a real emergency. We (well, Dog and a neighbor finally got the driveway shoveled and plowed so we can get out). That took almost all day. Anyway, we called an urgent care center & around here are still closed.

Dinner over. Grateful beyond words that we have not lost power.

Plan to watch Downton Abby then going to the pillows.

Please, everyone, stay in and stay safe. Lydia, not sure I understand what happened but do hope you are okay.

Restful sleep for all.

Mema Jo said...

Good evening - Downton Abbey was very good - lots of things going on....

I checked our nest - The stump looks ice covered. I'll have to check it out tomorrow Hope there is more sunshine - so many people are still snowbound. Too many plows breaking down to to the 40" of snow.

I am a bit hungry - I think some peanut butter crackers and chocolate milk are in order.

Mr Newt has been in lock down since Friday - today he slept most of the time but then he noticed he could see out the door and that the deck was cleared. Out he went but of course didn't want any snow on his paws. He stayed on the deck for a while and was very happy when we called him inside.

I will bid all of you Goodnight - Stay warm and safely in your homes.

Lolly said...

Downton Abbey seemed short to me this evening. It was good and love hearing the snappy comebacks! Too funny! We watched the first episode of Mercy as I had it recorded. Now episode 2 will be watched this week some time. Only had to turn my head a couple of times. Think it is good.

Guess most of you will be snowbound for a few days. I talked with Michael. A and Z hope to get home Tuesday. Time will tell. He has talked with them several times. Michael had to reassure A that all will be fine. He did try to tell them not to go, but A was so sure it would just be a little snow in NYC. They were disappointed about the concert.

I will try to text Zach tomorrow on his mom's phone.

Time for pillows! Nite all!

Good Morning Eagle Buds!!!

Up early due to too much napping yesterday evening---I did wake up for, and stay awake through, Downton Abbey. They always leave us wanting more.

Thank you dear HODA and SUZAN! And, Happy Birthday to LINDA SALSBURY the Momster I share this day with!

It's turned into a three day celebration for me with the Contra Dance duties on Saturday evening. Lunch at a Greek eatery with Julie, Hugh and Seth yesterday. Afterward we visited with the Budgies who are caged in the lobby of the Science Building at Otterbein U. There is a long term study of parakeet habits in progress. Tonight I'm going to Julie's for a Mexican dinner to put a cap on this birthday!

LOLLY, it's a shame the storm canceled the Springsteen concert, but I'm thinking this has been quite an experience for a youngster from Dallas. He'll remember this unique visit to NYC for a lifetime!

LYNNE2, you're going to remember this long weekend, too, but not with much pleasure. Hope you and Steve are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and I also hope your boss realizes what gems he has in the two of you.

LYNNE1, hope you got that mess mopped and soaked up. I imagine you could use one of JANET's massages about now.

MARGY n' CAROLYN, thinking of you and all personnel manning command centers across the massive snow storm area. Your efforts are not taken for granted!

Hoping to get back here for the Sycamore Palace Show at noon.

Meantime, praying for all in need, as always!

Goodorming my eagle friends. It's 20 degrees here right now but going up to 40 today with lots of sun. Schools are closed - the northern end of the district must have gotten more snow, plus one of the high schools is being used as a shelter for folks who had to evacuate their homes due to flooding. I told the dogs they could sleep in but they didn't listen. Of course, all 3 are sleeping right now, since their bellies are full.

Happy birthday Kay! It sounds like you've had a great celebration - wishing you a wonderful year ahead! I hope you're getting some more sleep right now.

Happy birthday Linda - maybe you'll stop by the blog to collect your birthday wishes?

It's been great seeing Margy, Hoda, and Carolyn on the blog the past few days - PLEASE visit more often.

Shirley, love the visual of Hunter shoveling snow in his shorts! Pick your battles, right?

Jo, loved the photos on FB of Elliot in the snow - he seemed to be enjoying it!

Lynne2, I continue to shake my head over your current situation. I just can't believe the new owner is so absent and unaware of how the place is being run. Glad you will be getting reinforcements today.

Lynne1, how goes the water clean-up? Again, I sympathize with your plight!

Have a greyt day all.

Jewels said...

Hoda, Yes the Humvees came with the Army Reserves from the lower state of WV. They have been getting stuck everywhere, we have had 40 inches of snow and 3-4-5 ft snow drifts in some areas. then factor in where are they putting plowed snow? so many roads if opened at all are one lane.
ITs bad!!

Another 12 hrs. I am pretty sure Margy got the day off, cause I know my shift is here till noon and the opposites of me who is sleeping come back on at noon and my shift gets to sleep and come back in at midnight. Possibly going home at 6 am Tuesday...

Thanks for the well wishes for me and my co-workers. Is been a experience like none other.

Good morning eagle peeps,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KAY!   MAY THIS BE A GLORIOUS DAY!!
And LINDA S. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU TOO!
I’d be happy to give LYNNE1 a massage, but thinking I’m gonna need one soon too!
Its one of those ya’ll aren’t gonna believe this stuff morning….
Sooo, yesterday was a lazy day. Last of our snow-cation, so to speak. Well not so, a there is no school for metro today and I am so glad at this moment!!!! I plan on getting a few things done, but time will tell.
Went to bed late, as we have been doing for the week. We had been asleep a couple of hours when Michael knocked on our bedroom door….one of the pipes from the new tankless water heater, you know, the ones that bring water to the tank, not the tank itself, was leaking water….a lot of water. We had 2 “ of water all over the downstairs.
Spent an hour using the shop vac sucking up water…..waiting on our project manager to call. …could have been so much worse, but still what a pain!!!
Just talked with our project manager…..he says they will make this right…..
Sheesh!

Here’s to a better day for one and all!

Mema Jo said...

Good morning to all ♥ The nest looks like digging is taking place.
Sandi - thanks for Blackwater's egg report! They had been having a problem with their
camera. And yes! Our nest will be next!
Too many water messes being cleaned up - as I said earlier I just don't enjoy doing that. Lynne1 and Janet here is hoping all is dry now.
Lynne2 I'm praying that your extra help is soon to arrive!
No newspapers for the past few days of course - But I can read it online.

THE PLOW HAS ARRIVED ! I am very happy especially since he hasn't closed up any of our 9 driveways.

Happy Birthday to Kay. May the day be special with memories of a fabulous weekend. May the year ahead be one of good cheer and good fortune.

Happy Birthday, Linda. Wishing you a lovely day and year ahead.

Lynne1 and Janet, so sorry about the water leaks. Sure hope repairs and cleanup happen quickly.

Congratulations to Blackwater. May the egg(s) be untouched by snow.

Jerry, please be careful.

Shirley? How are you feeling? Cold all gone?

Jo, please send a picture of Master Elliot in the snow. No doubt Mr. Newt is furever grateful he has a warm place and loving hearts.

Lynne2, prayers for you, Steve, and the animals to get help today.

Lolly, what a wonderful experience Zack has had seeing all that snow -- not something he would likely experience in TX. A friend in NYC said only a few inches, not feet, were expected. Concerts get rescheduled.

Off to get more coffee. Sure miss my newspaper.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Happy Birthday to Linda! Will send her wishes on fb.

Lol. L just texted A and Z!

I see the nest has more messed up snow and sticks brought in. Need more flugg!

Time to eat a bite and get to the grocery for fresh veggies before working in the yard!

Have a great day! May you snow melt!😎

Good morning all

Happy Birthday Kay.

Sounds like my water mess was mild compared to Janet's. At least I didn't have a leaky pipe. I left the hole in the floor open to thoroughly dry and will put in new insulation sometime before Wednesday. And believe you me (as my mother would say) I put the pipe antifreeze in the drain after I finished the laundry yesterday. And I feel those muscles that did that bending and kneeling yesterday.

I hope all of you Jonas victims are able to get out and about as needed.

Kay said...

Oh, my, you've all warmed the cockles of my heart with your good wishes! Thank you!!!

I'm gettin' ready for the beeg shoo. Hearing tell tale sounds near the cam and think there may be an eagle or two perched up high in the tree. Watching someone walking up the road, so life seems to be getting back to normal at NCTC.

LYNNE1, glad you have things under control---thank goodness for antifreeze, too!

JO, JUDIE is right. We non-FBers need a Master Elliot fix!

Kay said...

Now there are a bunch of people walking down the road. They look like ants, giving me a perspective on just how high up in the air the aerie is!

From Pot Plant Owl:

I've been putting off writing this post. After eight years, and hundreds of hours of watching, fretting, assisting, talking about and sharing 'our' owls with the world, the tide has turned.

Weeks ago, I walked into my room and saw PPO standing on the balcony railing. She let me get up closer to her as she stood - terribly thin and barely able to draw a breath. I called Allan who came up and saw her and listened to her breathing labour.

PPO flew to the neighbour's roof before we could catch her and we could still hear her struggling to draw a breath. Moments later, she flew off.

We haven't seen her since.

Pappa is in the territory, hooting alone on the rooftops. At night, I see him fly around and keep looking for a second owl. We alerted all our neighbours and have asked them to look out for PPO. Nobody has seen her.

I'm hoping - perhaps against hope - that she has somehow split from Pappa for a while (perhaps with the little chick) and she will return soon enough. If I hadn't heard her, and seen what she looked like, I would definitely be thinking this.

The ugly truth is that the longer she is away, the less likely this scenario is.

I haven't given up hope and I ask that you all don't too.

Suzan that is such sad news - so wish they could have caught her and taken her to the vet. I am so glad you checked out the sight - I hadn't checked in on their blog - loved it when they had the cam. It was like she wanted them to know how she was doing.

Ms Bookworm said...

Hi, Everyone,

Taking a few minutes to drop in and see how you all are doing, with that horrid snowstorm back east! So glad that you all seem to be doing fairly well, and are hunkered down for the duration.

I'm still busy transcribing doctor's reports, so can't take too long to catch up here. Thrilled to see that Margy and Hoda have checked in! Miss both of you terribly, and hope you will post more often.

Ken and I are surviving, although we both still have a bit of a cough. We're supposed to have warmer weather this week, though, so hope that will help. High for today is 74, and I'm feeling quite guilty, considering what you are contending with back east! It gets down to the low 40s at night, though.

I'm saying many prayers for all of you, and hoping you won't have to deal with any power outages. Definitely stressing about our eagles, too, and hope that they will be OK. Really glad that there are no eggs yet!

Well, need to get back to work, so will say bye for now. God bless all of you, and take care! I ♥ us!!!

Good evening to all

LYNNE1: so glad you are “high and dry” and all is well.
SUZAN: such sad news.
We are hanging tough around here. Temps got up to 55 today so most of the snow is gone. It was a beautiful day.
Unfortunately, that melting snow kept filling up the hole they jackhammered in my floor and therefore they couldn’t run the drain pipe that way. Thankfully they were resourceful and ran it outside …digging a trench in the mud and muck and getting it done. Tomorrow they come back and complete the inside drain line.

The water line breach was repaired fairly quickly. The glue on the fittings gave way. That was repaired fairly quickly.

The new heater is now in and the downstairs is warm…. A mess, but warm. Kids will sleep upstairs in the guest room tonight.

¬¬-¬After speaking with our project manager we will get some compensation for the mishap last night.
I am tired. But I am thankful. Its been either laugh or cry and I am and have chosen to laugh. If laughter is the best medicine, then I shall be quite healthy!
Thankful to go back to work tomorrow. Thankful for friends who “got my back”….Thankful for each of you. Good night to all!

Sandi said...

Goodorming my eagle friends. Back to school for me today.

Janet, sounds like a real mess at your place - I'm glad you can laugh about such things; I'm sure I wouldn't be laughing.

Judy, good to hear that you got your own wheels back.

Jo, the photo of Elliot in his wagon/sled is terrific - that face!! I'm sorry that Freyja is missing out on this snow.

The snow here has melted leaving outside just very mushy from all the rain on Saturday. I got my hair cut and highlighted yesterday - back to blonde! :)
