Good afternoon to all ♥
The viewing went so very well - all her famiy members were there and they were thankful that she was in a better place with no pain. Flowers were very pretty - Slide show of her life was very well presented. She was an educator and all of the retired teachers were there to remember her.

Megan mentioned that she sees Lisa, Norma's daughter a good bit down in Shepherdstown where she lives. I guess I'll always remember a gathering we had at the barn by the nest and Norma had on her Red sneakers! Her blog comments were admired and enjoyed by all of us. ♥

Made my Happy Birthday call to Norma
Her voice was so strong and she sounded good. Said that she had taken a fall on her steps but was only badly bruised. I reminder to grab that railing and slow down. She is 79 today - born in 1934. She is so wanting for a get together with all of us. I joked and said that NCTC wanted some volunteer weeders on the site the end of this month and if we all get garden hats, garden gloves, a pair of shades and carry a rake - maybe we could get in to that nest tree. lol She was happy and she really recognized my husky voice!

Good afternoon all!

I didn't do so hot on the test today. I accidentally forgot one thing while listing the blood flow pattern through the cardiovascular system, and it threw off all the rest of my answers for that part of the test which was 20 points. It landed me a meager 79%. So mad at myself.

SANDI, I'm so happy that Brian called and you're happy. Glad he feel very safe. Music to my ears.

HODA, so you're still cooking up the apples and plums...Wish I could smell it from here. That fruit rescue is such a great idea.

SHIRLEY, I never knew it was the balls that made them curve!

JO, glad you had a nice day and could make it to your friend's service. Sounds like a very nice family.

GLO, so thrilled to see you on here today.

MARGY, oh MARGY...where are you?

KAY, how is the pain in your hip/back? Do not want you to have to go through more surgery.

JANET, thanks for the advice. I'm sitting here with lavender oil under my noise! Your suggestions are great. Sorry you understand anxiety so well. What was your PTSD about, if I may ask?

Time to get some work done and a shower. I've promised myself I'm going to be in bed by 7 at the latest tonight. Have two papers due on Tuesday, one on Myocardial Infarction (heart attack) and another on CBC (complete blood panel)...lots of research to do.
Thank God for the internet and those several reputable medical sites.

Sweet dreams tonight for everyone!

Good evening, from a rainy and cloudy Paradise!

Decided to get the boat off the beach tonight in the rain! Got good and wet, but got the sand rinsed off of everything. Will have to wait for the rain to stop and things to dry to get them put away. Think that's it for the boat this year.

Now inside, dry and comfy. Got laundry going, and will sweep tonight too. Gotta keep up with the sand and the pine needles!

Shirley, sorry to hear Lucky is ailing, but hope the meds help bring him back around.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR DEAR NORMABYRD! She was always full of love and laughter here on the blog!

Hope the rain stays away for Colorfest...rain here in Paradise through Sunday!

Good evening to one and all.
Another busy day down and done!
SANDI: Seven is doing just dandy. We have her kenneled. We walk her several times a day, but she and Scout love to rough house, and that is absolutely a no no for right now. She is eating, drinking and acting her normal self now. She is, however, quite ticked about the cone. Lol. But then, I would be as well!
STRONGHUNTER: I can wisk my 8lb ball down the lane at a brisk 12 to 13 mph, but the 10 lb ball, IF I want accuracy, generally it will lollygag down the lane at a not so brisk 6 to 8 mph. The weight of it will cause decent pin action most of the time. I just don’t have the strength/accuracy/whatever to throw anything heavier than that 10 lb ball and do any good.
LOLLY: hopefully my suggestions help you. You may ask about my PTSD: my first marriage was abusive. It took a long time, a lot of therapy, a LOT of love and understanding from Tom, patience and love for myself, Reiki, and finally hypnotherapy to get me over it. Tom is my 2nd marriage. I often refer to him as my knight in shining armor, and this is part of the reason why. I was a hot mess emotionally when we met.
I wouldn’t sweat the 79. I bet you won’t make that mistake again! You know what you did to make the error and to me that in and of itself is learning!  hug yourself for me!
It was quite the lovely day here. Weather was PERFECT (unless you wanted a pool day). It was 80, sunny, with low humidity.
Tom spent the day starting to build the stairs off of the back deck to be able to walk out back without having to go around front first.  He is so talented!
I went and gave 3 massages and then went and got one myself. I fell asleep. Anytime Will gives me a massage I nod right off. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for 90 min.
I did some house work, we had beef stroganoff for dinner and now we are catching up on SURVIVOR. The attitude just walked in the room and stomped out. (AKA Olivia)> (sigh)
Well I’ve jabbered enough! Light, love, hugs and smiles to all!

Good morning all....hope it's a dry, crisp, beautiful fall morning for everyone. Except we know PAULA said it would be raining in Paradise through the weekend. Sorry.

Hope you have a great time at ColorFest, PAULA, and that you see some eagles today.

LOLLY, glad you're having a great time...I understood that JANET meant that part for me. I am grateful.

SHARON, one of these weekends I'm going to meet Kate in Bedford, PA. Didn't you used to live there? Any recommendations?

HODA, I suspect you'll be finishing up in the fruit dehydrating/cooking department today....or soon. Good luck with that. Hope you get out for some refreshing spins on your bike.

SANDI, still so very happy you heard from Brian! Have a great day in class.

Good morning Lori and all my eagle friends.

Rained all day yesterday, all evening, all night, and it's still raining. Supposed to keep on all day today and all day tomorrow. Plus the wind is really gusting. Hoping all trees stay vertical and all water stays in the canal - so far, so good.

Paula, Denny is wishing he had pulled our boat before the storm started. Glad you're safe and dry so far.

Any word on Dana's dad? I know from FB that she picked Aric up from the airport for fall break but she didn't post any updates about her dad that I know of.

Lori, don't feel bad about your exam score. Since you know where you erred, you've learned from the exam, and I bet you won't forget the correct answer! Don't worry about it. I think you're doing great!

Shirley, I always thought that it was throwing the ball with a "spin" on it that made for a curved path. Learn something new every day! Hope Lucky is feeling better.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO NORMA!!
Hope it was a VERY special day!

Lynne2, good to see you here! You are missed! Will be looking for an e-mail from you. Hope Steve and the critters are fine.

It's wonderfully cool here this morning (52 degrees), going up to a high of 69, and I'm LOVING it!
We still have a 40% chance of showers. Got some rain yesterday afternoon, and it was still raining when I took Emma out to go potty at about 6:45 last night. The air smells SO fresh! I love it.

Still no sign of the rat--it's made itself mighty scarce. Traps are all still set. The critter needs to throw itself into one of them! This is getting on my nerves.

We took our vacuum cleaner, a 14-year-old Dyson, to a local vacuum repair shop, and had it given an overhaul. It needed a couple of new parts and a good cleaning, plus a new HEPA filter. Got it back last night, and it's like new!
Should be good for several more years. Since it's been gone since last weekend, we're dodging dog hair tumbleweeds, so gotta vacuum until I drop today! That's one piece of equipment that I can't live without!

Well, need to go get busy. Ken has tomorrow off (vacation day), so we'll be out and about. Hope everyone has a great day today!

Oh Mr & Mrs Eagle were perched on the dead tree at work today. Rain was mostly light. Sounds like ya'll got what I had yesterday.

Water is really high here! Larry had some flooding in his yard at the beach. I scared a heron tonight on my road...and a seagull was in the middle of the road splashing around too...probably finding something to eat in the water on the road. And oh my, tonight was frog night! good evenng.

so i have a question which most of you can likely answer.

when going thru peri-menopause, were you just wiped out tired most nights? i just had a physical, all blood work is normal...but by 8:30, sometimes 8 p.m. i am wiped out, dog tire. i know tom is tired of hearing:

1. i'm hot (as in hot flashing/sweating and or both)
2. i'm tired.
3. and on occassion at night, i'm cold.

i would love to change this, but not sure which way to turn. some input would be grand.

i just downloaded the sleep bot on my phone. it is supposed to track your sleep, such as light sleep, deep sleep, waking etc. i don't know how accurate it is, but i don't feel as if i sleepwell...i wake up (hot flash, then cold, then hands asleep, etc) several times a night, i think,. maybe this can help me to sort this out.

thank you in advance for any and all input.

this is getting old.

and, good night toall! SED.

Lynne2 said...

Janet, wish I could help. I have had but 4 or 5 hot flashes in the past couple of years. I am still as regular as ever. At 51, almost 52, there is no sign of the change to come.

Make sure the WHOLE thyroid panel was done on you bloodwork. Not just a T4. Check out some info on the web as to what tests specifically. MANY women have low thyroid that goes undetected.

Good RED FRIDAY morning everyone!

Ah, finally Friday, YAY!!!

JANET, yes, I felt the same way. Tired all the time and sleep was definitely not as good when you wake up drenched and cold several times a night. I took Estroven, a soy product, for hot flashes and it worked great! You can get it at Costco or Sam's for sure.

Not much time this morning, I'm up earlier to get in extra study time for today's test on the Urinary System which is way more advanced and complicated than you'd think.

Waiting on a call back from my doc for something to help with the withdrawal symptoms from my meds. Can't continue with this rapid heart rate and swallowing difficulty because of all the excess saliva. I'm still working on this. :) I shall prevail.

Love you all, dearly, and wish for you a fabulous Friday and weekend.

Sandi said...

Good Friday morning Lori and all my eagle friends! It's FRIDAY!! Boy, am I tired!

It started raining and wind blowing on Wednesday morning and it has not stopped since! Rain slacks off and picks up but has not stopped - forecast is for the rain and wind to continue all day again today and tonight and then more tomorrow. Some downpours this morning could be heavy. With the ground this saturated, now is when I'm starting to worry about the water coming into the house. Tide was high last night in the canal but didn't overflow. Fingers crossed.

Janet, I finally had to start on hormone replacement therapy - nothing over-the-counter or diet adjustment wise worked for my hot flashes. And as exhausted as I was after a night of sweating, roasting and then freezing, there was no way I could deal with 8th graders for 8 hours a day!! Good luck!!

Prayers for Dana's dad and for Miracle Michael.

Have a great day all!

good morning all and thank you for your thoughts and input. most of the time i just keep positive thoughts....and then sometimes it gets to me. (sigh) i am very human.

LYNNE2: there is truely nothing to fear, it is a process. Sometimes, for me, it feels frustrating. I have always found being informed has been my best defense.

I have tried hormones 2x and with bad results both time. So I know that is out for me. I do take black cohosh and melatonin to help with sleep and take the edge off of the hot flashes, night sweats....but there are still times that it feels pretty rough.

Read also, and am certainly showing it, that snoring can get worse. My poor husband!

I think he is the one Ifeel worst for.....

I did "stop" for nearly 4 months earlir this year, then I had my visitor....and now waiting to see what happens, or doesn't this month. So I know the end is near..

Good morning,

Janet, I am the queen of hot flashes. I know a lot about waking up in the night soaking wet with sweat and having to find dry clothes and dry bedding. You burn up and then you freeze because you are soaking wet. I usually took a short cut by folding a sheet on the bottom--or because I sleep alone--moving to the other side of the bed. Yeah, I had to change the top sheet, too. I took Tamoxifen for five years which really boosted those flashes.

I always took a sweater or light jacket to any air-conditioned place, especially a movie because I knew I would always need it. My kids called it a "mom thing."

My doctor gave me a prescription for a non-hormone medication that helped. I don't remember the name of it, but it is also used as an antidepressant.

FIVE inches and a bit in the rain gauges this morning! Seems to have finally slowed down a bit. Lots of local flooding and roads closed and many fall events and other things that were scheduled for tomorrow have been canceled.

Good dreary Saturday morning Margy, Judy, Hoda (you're up early) and all my eagle friends! It's still windy and rainy here (almost 3 straight days) PLUS we had thunder and lightning last night!

Happy birthday, Jo!!!!! I agree that a great grandbaby would be a wonderful birthday gift!! Enjoy your day!

Lori, it's a wonder we have any nurses in the US at all, in light of the workload they throw at nursing students! I had no idea!! Poor you - but you'll do it and do it well!!

Cleaning the 3 upstairs bathrooms and our bedroom today and doing laundry. Tomorrow, I go back to playing tennis (indoors). The eye doctor said everything looks good with my eye - no retina problem. Just realized I never heard anything from my primary care doc about my echocardiogram. I'm sure I would have if there was a problem so I guess my heart murmur is nothing to worry about. I DID hear from the dermatologist that I have 2 basal cell carcinomas on my thigh that have to be surgically removed - will have that done over Thanksgiving break.

Have a great day all!

Good Saturday Morning everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAREST JO!
Hope it's a very special day for you and all of the family as they celebrate with you. Prayers for a safe and fast delivery for your new great-grandchild.

SANDI, it is a wonder we have any nurses...but that is why the dropout rate for nursing programs is so high.

Prayers for EVERYONE in the flood prone areas that have had all the rain. Stay safe.

SHIRLEY, sorry you got a cold - URGH! No fun at all.

LOLLY, sounds like you and Jack are having a fantastic time. Good for you! Bet the gospel music will be awesome!

MARGY & JUDYE, have a great day at work today!

JUDIE, hope you're okay and have a wonderful weekend. Haven't seen you on the blog for a few days and I'm worried about you.

KAY, I assume that since we're only getting a little rain and none today, that you're too far west to be affected by the storms they're having on the east coast. Hope you and Penny are doing well and you're getting some Seth time this weekend!

Time for me to start up the homework machine here. Lots to do.

I hope you all have a great and safe day.

Love, light, smiles, and joy to all.

Good morning,

Yay! Football practice is cancelled this morning. Oh, I did want to crawl back into my bed.

Kathryn is taking Lucky to the vet to get instruction on giving her kitty liquids intravenously, so that meant I was scheduled to take Hunter to football practice.

stronghunter said...

Now Kathryn and Hunter are off to the vet's, and I am relaxing and nursing my cold.

Kathryn is also going to learn of the vet's recommendations for food for Lucky. She's done some research, and is thinking she doers not want to give him prescription food. I just recently took George off prescription food, and he seems just fine with Fancy Feast. His coat has gotten nice and shiny, and he has stopped throwing up so much.

Interested in learning what the vet thinks of Kathryn's research.

Beautiful morning here. Sunny and cool. Long night sleep, nearly 10 hours, flipped and flopped, baked and froze, but at least more rest. It was nice to get up AFTER the sun rose.
Tom is working on the steps today. He has really gotten a lot done in a short amount of time. This will make accessing the down stairs, the back yard, the pool, etc so much easier!!!
I have a lot I could do. I spent almost 2 hours cleaning the pool yesterday. The boat needs to be cleaned and covered. I am thinking where my energy is best spent today. Grandson will be spending the night….
Going to see Chelsea play softball this afternoon.
Hope everyone has a lovely day! Light, love, hugs, and smiles to all!

Good Morning Eagle Buds !!!

♫♪♫ Happy Birthday, dear JO ♪♪♪ Have a terrific day !

LORI, our weather is absolutely gorgeous. May get a dab of rain Sunday, but that's okay. Seth came home yesterday afternoon so we'll have our Sat/Sun routine going on. It's already Fall Break time---the semester is flying by ! Take a little time away from that homework today--you know what they say about all work and no play !

Yesterday Julie and I went out to old Greenlawn Cemetery (SHIRLEY, you'll remember where that is--just west of German Village). My paternal great great grandfather is buried in the huge Civil War Vet section. The original stone had weathered and fallen apart so the folks there replaced it with a nice new, though still in the old style, marker. Barely out of the gardens we heard a strange noise at the rear of the car. Pulled over and could see a nail sticking out of a tire. Thank goodness for AAA--great service and we were on our way again !

SHIRLEY, glad you got a reprieve and were able to stay home with that nasty cold--feel better soon !

SANDI, glad you're staying on top of all physical needs as they arise ! It's grand that you have a place for indoor tennis !

PAULA, "colorfest" ! Sounds great ! Enjoy !

HODA, love your reminder that "There is always someone who does not have it as good as we have it!" God Bless all those who suffer losses and tragedies around the world as well as those among us who are in need.

Love and prayers for all !

Good early evening everyone.

It has been, and continues to be, a very stressful 2 1/2 days. Our computer died Thursday morning. Really dead. Had to buy a new computer and, of course, a compatible monitor. Lost lots and lots of data in the migration from the original hard drive to include my wildlife cams. Students are unhappy at not getting their grades posted but not as unhappy as Darth and I are. Bottom line - out of touch. Early bed tonight - huge headache. Sandperson will depart as usual. I've completely lost track of Jufie.

Jo, hope you have had a wonderful birthday and that the wonderfulness will continue through the evening. Tomorrow is the first day of your next most excellent year.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Have not been able to catch up yet.

paula eagleholic said...

Judie, so sorry about your computer. We should all copy stuff to an external drive...me too.

Colorfest was fun...only. 5 minutes of sprinkles...and had some sun too.

Going to work on the carpet store financials tomorrow. Gathering up stuff and clothes to take. Back to the beach this evening. Will head back there tomorrow night. Will try to have dinner w/ John and Ajay tomorrow if working doesn't take too long.

Thanks for all the tips to Janet...my. hot flashes have come back with a vengance...and would rather try alternatives rather than hormone therapy. No wine and sugars...hard for me! But I'll work on it! Sugars are harder than the wine lol

Hoda said...

Good to see JUDIE here. Sorry about the computer problems.

PAULA I have learnt that when my sweet tooth really acts up my gut health is not so good. So I take liquid probiotics, not the tablets. Seratonin is apparently produced in the gut not the brain as previously thought.
You are a precious gem to continue carpet store books. Hats off dear Lady.
JANET soy aggravates my hormonal imbalance condition. Again I am talking about my experience and it might not be the same for you.
Meditative day feeling good.
Missing the FB chat group and am still conflicted on battery drain as two pictures continue to download and fail to do so. I seem to be the only one with this problem.

SHIRLEY I hope your computer recognizes your mouse!

Good Sunday morning my eagle friends. Today should be a drying out day - the rain FINALLY stopped around 11pm last night but the wind is still blowing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WANDA!!! I think a new computer would be a wonderful gift!!

Judie, speaking of a new computer, I'm sorry to hear that your hard drive died and you lost a lot of data. When that happened to me with my desktop 2 years ago, I learned my lesson and bought an external hard drive. I back up both laptops at the beginning of every month. If Denny's hard drive died and we couldn't retrieve the data for his business, it would be pretty disastrous!

Jo, congrats on baby Ian!! Love that name!! What a great birthday gift for you!!

Hope I will be awake enough for tennis this morning. Between Bandit whining and pacing on the hardwood floors, and Denny snoring, I got a lousy night's sleep. There will definitely be a nap in my plans for the afternoon!

Way too many venues to communicate with one another.
I reflected upon the three venues and experienced the bombardment of notification. I turned notification off and my FB newsfeed was swamped.
I love us all ever so very much but I am unable to keep up.
I will focus my contact to this blog. I will use the chat till the US Gov't goes back to work and STEVE gives us a new thread.
I understand his action of not providing a new thread while he is furloughed.
I left the By invitation only Membership group on FB
Thank you. It was too much for me.

Sandi said...

Hi all! Productive weekend! Tennis was fun, super competitive, and exhausting (since I haven't played for a month).

Bedrooms and hall are dusted and vacuumed, 3 bathrooms cleaned, 4 loads of laundry washed and dried (not folded yet), dinner is in the crockpot, and 2 pairs of new slacks are altered (don't like wide pants legs but since I'm so tall, when I find pants that fit, I buy 'em and then alter them). Thank goodness home ec. still existed when I was in school and I learned how to sew. My little Singer sewing machine has no bells and no whistles but it can still sew - it was a birthday gift when I was in high school, so it has been sewing my clothes for over 40 years! The middle school where I teach no longer has home ec./family studies - very sad.

Hoda, I'm with you. I don't have time to keep up with the blog AND the chat on FB or to post on both, so I muted it. I can still get to it if I want to "peek in" and read what's being said there but I am only posting here on the blog.

Did not get a nap and don't want to take one at 5pm - if I do, I won't sleep tonight. So bedtime will probably be very early for me. I'll see everyone in the AM.

Hi everyone!

Just a quick check in this morning. After all the homework I did over the weekend, I totally forgot about a test we're having this morning - of course, they've changed the date for it 2 times. Oh well.

Wishing everyone a bright and sunshiny day!

Love you all!

Love you LORI
Good luck with the test
Bravo on doing all the homework.
I thought it is Columbus Day in the US and therefore a holiday. You are going to school today???

Good morning Lori, Hoda, and all my eagle friends. Hoda, schools are open here in Sussex County DE on Columbus Day - wish it wasn't so, but it is.

Just checked my calendar and today is Bella's 9th birthday. Don't think we'll have cake to celebrate! :)

Lori, good luck on today's test.

Lolly, have a safe day on the road!

Margy, glad you were able to see James yesterday.

Prayers for Dana's dad and for Miracle Michael. Have a great day all!

Getting ready to leave...

Yes, HODA, we have school today - it's makeup time for the day we got out early a few weeks ago because of the bomb scare. We were supposed to have it off.

Love YOU all!

Good morning--Looks like it is split time on the blog.

A little sleepy this morning. Stayed up late watching the game with Rus. We ended up watching the game in my bedroom because the TV downstairs would not receive Channel 4.

Do not understand why this happens, but there was a notice from Comcast announcing that "This channel will be available shortly." We do not understand this. Why is it available on one TV and not on another?

Federal holiday--Rus is off work, but Hunter has school today. And, of course, Kathryn has to work at her job.

Tonight is football practice for Hunter, and tomorrow is a big agame.h It's the only team that has beat Hunter's team so far.

Hmm, looks like there's going to be more rain in Texas.

Hope everyone makes it over the split with me! We have made this split-journey before.
