RE: KOI
The koi have actually wintered over in a lined wooden structure off our sunroom, which use to be our aviary. Only 2 koi are out in the pond to keep the mosquito population down. Have not had a problem with raccoons, but last year a heron discovered the pond and made several early morning visits/meals. :o(
We had to resort to a layer of bird netting to discourage it. Its only visible close up - so not too bad.
Wanda - I group my pics and then put them on separate memory sticks. Each is tucked into a little envelope with notes about which pics are on it or the occasion or dates. Not as bad as browsing thru whole CD's of pics.

What AAWV has decided to do with any donations people want to make in Lynn's name is to give them two options.
One option is to send a check made out to Laurie Webber as she pays our website bill. Lynn was active in setting up the website and, as you noted, several of her animals are featured on the various pages. Laurie's address is: 134 Pippin Drive, Martinsburg, WV 25403. Since we are not a nonprofit, donations to us would not be tax deductible.
The second option is to send a check to Reach Out Rescue & Resources (http://www.reachoutrescue.org/). Lynn adopted Liesel through them and they are active with AAWV. They are a registered nonprofit so any donations to them are tax deductible.

I want to play bird count- cardinals, catbirds, towhees, bluebirds, hummers, mockingbirds, phoebes, sparrows, swallows, hairy woodpecker, nuthatch, doves, bad blue jays, endless finches,titmouse (wrongly nesting in my bluebird box), pileated woodpecker, starlings(ugh, who let them in the yard?) and flickers...that's all I got!
Forgot about nuthatches, starlings, downy woodpeckers.

Fubby told me about a bird he saw the other day on the hummer feeder.I showed him a pic I took years ago at Park, and yes, it was a rose-breasted grosbeak. Rare to see them in suburbia!Have to start taking camera outside. I've seen a hummer come to my window sill pot of salvia on the deck railing!

A sincere apology for being so out of touch this week, but I have been having some serious battles with migraines over the past four days and I am afraid to say I was on the losing end!! Today is a better day!
Also Riley has been sick with doggy diarrhea for the past 4 days as well and we can no say we have the cleanest carpets and floors and dog in Northeast PA! I can't tell you how many times that poor puppy has been bathed. This is one of those times you wish you had a short haired dog!! Hopefully he is on the mend as well. So far so good last night and today!
LORI - A rose-breasted grossbeak avatar for YOU!! Our first showed up on Sunday and I captured this picture along with others. Tuesday another male came to the feeders and then there were two! Wednesday there were three males and by Wednesday evening we had four pairs at the feeders!!
We usually get this many each year, but our resident hawk likes them too! The hawk flew right to the deck in front of the kitchen last night, but all are accounted for today! Whew!

I sure do miss LYNN and was in prayer all afternoon yesterday remembering her and praying for the girls and all of her family. Hard to believe it has been over a week now!

Hi Hoda!
Your 16GB is only for things you will store on your iphone, meaning pictures, movies to watch later, apps you download, podcasts, etc.
When you go on the blog, it will be data usage either through your cellular carrier or through your wifi connection. If your cellular company limits you to 2GB of data usage, you will probably still be okay because you are just accessing and reading the blog.
Hope that helps a bit.
The 16GB is storage, not use.
Things that take up storage are things you download and keep on the iphone, ipad, ipod, etc.
Usage data is a different thing. They say streaming videos, streaming radio, streaming movies, etc take up a lot of data use, but I am sure the blog won't affect your usage much at all, if you even have a limit.
One more thing....
You can check the storage on your iphone by going to settings, general, usage.
There you can see the total storage of information on your iphone. It will break down by app how much space is used of your total 16GB, and tell you how much is used and how much is available.
If you scroll down to the bottom, you can tap Cellular Usage and it will give you information on call time, cellular network data and tether data (whatever that is!).

HODA, my advice is get the 3G or 4G for your trip so you don't have to depend on wifi. The 20 bucks may save you a lot of aggrevation.
KAY, YAY, you're on the blog. I just love knowing that you're okay. Hate that the pain is still so bothersome, but not for long. It's almost a month until you get your surgery on 6/6.

HODA - You are most welcome. My knowledge is somewhat limited on the iphone in particular because I can't use it for extended periods of time as many do. My neck gets too tight!
LORI - Sweet of you to say, but the class would be quite short!! As I mentioned I understand a few things, but these ipads and iphones do so much more that we could ever imagine!!

Oh dear, I just brought up the cam page and see that there is one less turtle in the world today!! And one of the kids is picking at the shell.
Lori, I have impatiens, geraniums, a few petunias, some dragon-wing begonias, coleus, and lantana in my pots this year and my 6 window boxes are all impatiens. Even though they require more watering, I prefer to plant my annuals in pots rather than in the ground. First, there are so many tree roots in the garden areas that it's hard to dig. Second, with pots, I can move things around to different locations if they're getting too much or not enough sun.

Vet was very complimentary. Audrey and Grace were little ladies. Completely non-aggressive. Never had such a meticulous vet (impressed). Pain medication every 12 hours. Grace has already removed her collar. The three of us upstairs, and Darth downstairs, all napped this afternoon. Other than some hissing and sniffing, they are doing just beautifully. Clearly they are tired but then who wouldn't be. Have eaten two cans of food.

My sister in Egypt just texted me so I know the feature works for when I am in the USA...Thanks LORI I might just buy more GB for the trip. My plan comes with 1 GB and I think that will get used up very quickly.

LINDA, I bought the iphone. It was cheaper than the ipod or the ipad. The ipad is in the 540 range, the ipod is in the 340 range and the iphone was in the 640 range but was on sale for 150 dollars here...there is a promotional thing going on and so I thought to get it as it does the same thing the ipod does...it is what I was going to buy when this whole thing started.

Kathryn has returned from her doctor's office. She will have gall bladder surgery on Wednesday. If all goes well, it will be an out-patient deal and she might be able to return to work by Monday.
Will is off work that day, and Susan is coming down.

Jo is talking about real turtles, Hoda. Sometimes the eagles bring turtles to the nest. After they are finished with them, the shell sometimes lies in the nest for awhile, and probably gets pushed over the side eventually.
We figure there are turtle shells under the nest.
Jo has always laid claim to them.
PRAYERS for KATHRYN SHIRLEY. I am glad the family is going to be with her giving her love and support. My gall bladder surgery was also day surgery and I felt so good when I left there I slept very well that night.

Went to one of my favorite resturaunts....a family run Greek resturaunt. Had this great shrimp dish with tomatos and feta....Greek salad.....pita bread....and spanokopita!!!! oh my yummy goodness. (am I making anyone hungry yet???)
I put a small feeder out in the front yard and been watching the squirrels. They are so CUTE ... and the chickadees....love my wildlife...
Hope things settle down here. It makes me sad to see dissention in so many areas around me right now.

The only thing is I know I will never get my weekend back at work I use to be off on weekends and then switched when she was born to help watch her two days week since she has been born But I love the time I had with her made our bond really strong I have the two days as NA days and I know WMT will never let me get my NA day back for Sat I will try anyway can't hurt

She's planning to take Will this time. I will be on critter duty. He did critter duty two consecutive weekends when I went with Kathryn and Hunter to VA Beach, the River House and then to Shepherdstown.
She should have her own car back by then.
The rental car is nice, but I still haven't figured out what color it is. Kind of greenish, cream-colored, off-white.
They asked when I checked in at the hotel in Shepherdstown and I had to say I didn't know.

Happy to say that I managed to get the whole house vacuumed today. I now have enough dog hair in the trash can to make 2 or 3 more Emmas! (Gave her some scratches behind the ears, and a belly rub after dinner tonight.)

Good Late night, early morning. Dr's appts went well. Charlie's VA dr was pleased with the weight loss. Said we should refuse the hosp bill since she believes the reason of the blood clot was their fault. Being that they kept a iv in his arm, not being used and used the same arm for the blood pressure cuff. IDK if that is legit reasoning or not. My blood pressure is perfect and said she wants me to remain on the anxiety meds for now. SO I must really try to take it faithfully. UGH!!!! Work tonight. 6p to 6a. half of me is ready, other half is not. Hope all is well with everyone tonight. WIll try to catch up at some point. Mind is working overtime tonight. Had a emotional day just cleaning out cupboards etc.

Better get a move on - stopping at McDonalds this morning to buy breakfast for the 14 kids in my enrichment group to celebrate their successes on the state test! Then, starting next Friday, I get to RETEST the ones who have made progress, but still haven't met the state standard. Seriously, if a kid tests at proficiency level 1 on May 1, what magic does the state expect to happen by May 15th that would get him to proficiency level 3?????

When I go to the pool their are people with "all kinds of problems". I haven't been there until yesterday for a month. Due to a hernia pull. During the "free time swim" some people have to use the jets (I don't). Some people don't like the jets being on because it pushs the water too fast and makes them where they can't do their work out. I just do my own exercising I did at Winchester Pool. I think since the pool is so so small. They put too high pressure jets in the pool. There is nothing that those people can do. Cause everyone has their needs and those jets help some with their back and etc. I've have known people that got mad because the jets were on and got out of the pool and left. Sorry for them but like I said some of these people need them.

Watched earlier as the babes did some serious pre-branching wingersizing in the sunshine. Sure wish we could keep them around for a year or so.
Audrey and Grace are doing very well. They have realized they are sisters (no more growling), they are tolerant of taking pain meds, they devoured an entire can of Friskies this morning.
Am doing errands this morning. Gas station, school, grosseries.
Thinking of Red today and wishing a perfect surgery and hip replacement. Will keep track of how long it takes him to get to the biscuits and gravy.
Hope Kathryn has a comfortable weekend.
Wishing Kay a day with less pain.
I plan to continue to read/post on the blog but will have to be a bit secretive. I am seriously aware that I am under threat from Mema Jo and her eagle cane. Good morning Magpie! I hope all is well in your neck of the woods.
Question for you. How long does it take the aster seeds to sprout. It has been about 3 weeks since I planted in some pods and nothing yet. I also stuck some wildflower seeds in the remaining pods and they have sprouted like crazy.
ummm, not sure Sharon, what I got from James, last May, they were two-inch tall sprouts already....so this is their first season as seeds... don't give up on them yet, but I might not have processed the seeds correctly
