split

Mema Jo said...

I looked up the site of Irvine - I really wish I were closer because I would have the great grandkids there for all those fantastic programs...

Mema Jo said...

Split without knowing I was so close to the edge..... I made it right behind you Lynne.......

Lynne2 said...

OOOOOO does this mean I have WAX??

Shirley, stay in! It's 96.1 here now.

I'm failing miserably at wildflower identification...
HELP MARGY!!!! I'm going to send you some pictures later on to help me with!!!

It appears, upon further investigation due to slow development and lack of a black mask forming on his face like the other taddies, that we may have a Peeper frog in the making...not a Wood Frog. Looking at some Peeper taddies, I think that is what Dinky is.....but how?? oh HOW?? did ONE SINGLE PEEPER egg get into our egg mass!!!! Every other taddie turned into a Wood Frog, without a doubt. We have a misfit!!

I hear rustling and not from wind at the nest....

BEagle said...

It is hot but hot is okay without the humidity. I came in drenched to lunch.
Predicted temperatures will break and the high for Wednesday is 77.

This is when I choose to believe the weather report.

hedgie said...

Screamer has arrived!

Mema Jo said...

Almost sneaked right in to the nest
Palmer was very quiet today......

BEagle said...

And there is Palmer

BEagle said...

Does she have her own food or did she follow an adult in?

BEagle said...

Surely someone would have noticed if Palmer mantled.

She must have got this one herself, whatever it is.

BEagle said...

Looks like a squirrel.

Mema Jo said...

She was mantling when I first looked after hearing her come into the nest..

Mema Jo said...

I didn't see or hear any adult and Palmer was not screaming when she arrived.... I think she may have brought it in herself. Whoo HOo!

paula eagleholic said...

surely didn't expect to see Palmer eating in the nest...crunch and munch time!

ceil said...

Sure hope Palmer is catching some of her own food.
Talking about boy scouts I was a den mother. When we see some of the men now that were my cubs they always say what a great time they had. They almost drove me crazy at times. Some of them were from disfunctional families and this was there only enjoyment.

BEagle said...

A no-noise mantle.

paula eagleholic said...

Did I mention it's HOT outside?? My thermometer says 94°

paula eagleholic said...

eating time at lol

paula eagleholic said...

Might be a rabbit...looks like 2 long back legs

BEagle said...

Did you see the tug-o-war at the Loch nest? Looked like spaghetti.

BEagle said...

I like rabbit stew.

hedgie said...

Lunch done...so let's make more noise!!
Isla is feeding her calm, quiet chicks!

Mema Jo said...

Looks like she ate the whole thing and may be getting ready to take off...
Such a quiet visit - Only heard one little 'dog whimper' lol

Mema Jo said...

Poof went Palmer

Mema Jo said...

I think everyone went Poof

Mema Jo said...

Nest is MT so it is safe for me to go
POOF

BEagle said...

Getting ready to POOF!

BEagle said...

Both chicks back at TH.

Phoenix and mom also playing tug of war with a spaghetti looking thing.

Younger PH chick...have not seen all day. Could be a fledge?

BEagle said...

The WV nest is still deserted.

stronghunter said...

Robert Byrd is hospitalized. Probably heat exhaustion.

stronghunter said...

Latest report says that the doctors have found other problems. His condition is serious.

paula eagleholic said...

A68 at PH had not fledged yet...he frequents a branch on the far right patio, out of sight...on the nest now peeping and eating.

BEagle said...

Isn't Robert Byrd 96?

BEagle said...

Oh dear. So sorry to hear about Senator Byrd.

BEagle said...

I see A68.

Prayers going up for Senator Byrd.

BEagle said...

Good view of NE (I think it is NE) in the Hampton.

BEagle said...

Wednesdays prediction of a high 77 and a low 57 sounds refreshing.

BEagle said...

On the LOL nest, are the two brown things on either side of the chicks
food?

magpie said...

Let me guess..It's Hot outside!
don't need to go out to find that out, all the news is here

Good Afternoon Eagle Pals...

hedgie said...

Oh, dear, Normabyrd will be distraught........

magpie said...

Lynne
The Irvine Center and all your Saturday activities is really neat...
best wishes that you not only have your foot in the door, but your whole body...sounds like the perfect place for a natural naturalist like you !

magpie said...

Happy 16th Birthday to Quinn ☺

A real landmark birthday in the life of a teen !

magpie said...

thinking that very thing, Lynn, about Norma...
prayers for wellness for Senator Byrd.....

magpie said...

Lynne
regarding wildflower identification...I will help out as much as I can...but I bet you are way ahead of me in that department!
The Audubon guide if it is the same one as mine is pretty good, but sometimes does not show enough of the leaves...
I have an extra Peterson Guide, which goes into a lot more detail...I should try to get that to you...Media Mail....cheap to send!
xo

magpie said...

How Way Cool that it sounds like Palmer brought her own groceries to the nest today !
wish I had seen that !

magpie said...

only thing I could harvest out of my garden this morning, was a very large live slug....I took him to a new habitat but I bet he finds his way back
he and his buds are tearing my pansy and nicotiana plants apart...can see their slug lines on the leaves....
need to set out some stale beer...
(but I have to buy some first then let it get stale)
Might have to relocate Scareslug into that flower box !
enjoyed reading of the vegetable harvests on here today

magpie said...

I've been timing my breaks at work around some of the ISS flyovers, and taking one employee out at a time to show them too...
hope to see a good one tonight around 9:22 pm...
they are ALL getting hooked on it!
I saw a little flyover overnight, not too high or bright, but cool regardless

magpie said...

time to get some things done before work

Hope everyone is having some good times today....
mabye squirt guns, sprinklers, water balloons....swimming pools and the Ocean !

ttfn xox

magpie said...

PS BEagle... see those brown things at Lock of the Lowe's - could be some nice soft fluff

and also Lynne
sometimes the Little Golden Books for wildflowers and weeds, are really an amazing source for plant identification !
and then there's Megan, Wanda, Loretta, and others on here !

stronghunter said...

Hi Margy,

So there are still slugs hanging out around your place.

It is getting very cloudy around here, and I think I hear faint rumblings of thunder.

stronghunter said...

Looks like we could get a little bit of rain. Ninety-seven degrees out there now.

hedgie said...

I hear her....but I don't see her! Wonder if she's had a dip today?

stronghunter said...

Lynn and Margy, I thought about Norma, too, when I heard about Senator Byrd.

stronghunter said...

Now, I hear her! Had to refresh.

stronghunter said...

Screams might be coming closer. Hard to tell!

hedgie said...

Ruth Bader Ginsburg's husband died today from cancer.

hedgie said...

No other info yet on Sen. Byrd----has been in hospital for several days........not even saying what hospital. Venture to say either GWUH or GTUH.....GTUH closed to his home.

stronghunter said...

Was laughing to myself and thinking about the comment someone made about my getting married (I'm not) so that you all would have a shower and give me lots of things.

A party would always be nice, (but not now, there is no one even remotely on the radar) but when it comes to household items, I already have lots of stuff. Too much stuff, in fact. Most of us do by the time we've raised a bunch of children, or, by this time, probably even if we haven't raised children.

I badly need to go through my stuff and get rid of things, not collect more things.

stronghunter said...

Something tromping in our tree.

BEagle said...

I hear the Palmer.

StrongH...so you would want some consumables?

magpie said...

I love those moving shadows on the nest on live feed !

BEagle said...

Our temperature has dropped 4 degrees and there is a strong storm in Canonsburg. I don't know where that is.

magpie said...

waiting on the real thing though ☺

paula eagleholic said...

Yup, I hear her :)

hedgie said...

Stepped out to throw green bean ends out for the critters....like a darn oven out there. 94 on thermom....feels worse than that.

stronghunter said...

What do you have in mind, BEagle?

BEagle said...

Aged wine and some delectable cheese.

BEagle said...

A free coupon for an expert pruner.

BEagle said...

MP...the real thing might need a storm to pass to see her.

BEagle said...

colorful helium balloons that say "just married" and you can let them go.

magpie said...

some from Open House 2009 might remember that HUGE Bird book that Captain Gene was given...
I have book THAT size entitled
The Really Big Universe....a board book by FunFax Ltd in England...
5 bucks at Goodwill...perfect condition

BEagle said...

Cannonsburg, must be in KY.

magpie said...

think Baby Girl might have headed for a dip in the Potomac?

had occasion to check ahead in August calendars for some dates...
checked Wanda's calendar...
oh dear, Nu is the featured picture for that month

Be Still My Heart (and all the rest of me!)
LOL

magpie said...

go ahead if you have that calendar
check it out! ☺

magpie said...

just found that I have TWO extra Peterson Wildflower guides...free to a good home ...

also, anyone's babies gettting ready for first haircut?
I have something pretty cool for saving the first haircutted locks...
someone let me know if you are interested...
all this going through things talk has gotten me started also !
xo

stronghunter said...

Well, I will have to find someone to marry first, Beagle. Nice thoughts, though.

magpie said...

if we see drops of water dripping onto the nest from over head branch...might have a clue to Palmer's activity today
just heard a clunk noise recently again

BEagle said...

You think Palmer may be taking a dip to stay cool?

magpie said...

either that, BEagle,
or looking for chow,
or looking for a new thread!
Hope he finds one or all three!

Well time to go, last evening shift coming up for me except for the occasional cover-for-others shifts in the upcoming month
hope I get out by midnight tonight

Best wishes for a good evening,
prayers for wellness and any difficulties
xox ♥

magpie said...

Forgot to mention:

Tree of Heaven, around here, has beautiful nice orange seed fronds...
hope you can check it out...
and the leaves, are HUGE - one leave, and with many opposite leaflets...

What a great name for a tree

magpie said...

One LEAF with many leaflets that is...
some of the fronds are also a pale yellow
tree is similar to staghorn and and also smooth sumac
but much nicer!

magpie said...

The Eaglet has landed !

paula eagleholic said...

Palmer in the nest, picking at this mornings nestovers.

hedgie said...

LOL....CNN just said Congratulations to Shirley and Ed.....must be an omen...Shirley, look for someone named ED!!

Mema Jo said...

She really came in sorta quiet but now she is letting us know she is here.
