Evening folks. I got my eagle fix today when I checked out my local nest. There were two eagles in a tree near the nest. they were too far away to distinguish a white head, but I think it was the eaglets.

Wanda, I don't sit under the dryer, but put a lot of goop on my hair before I blow it dry, then the curling iron. Otherwise I have seriously flat hair within an hour. Yesterday I bought a product that says it is a Hi-rise root booster. We shall see tomorrow. LOL I have had shoulder problems too and may have to resort to a very short style. Can't hold my arm up long enough to do the curling iron thing very well.
Aren't Sandi's pictures great? I presume they were in a game preserve and didn't have to beat the bushes to see all of those animals.
SED to all.

Evening all! Thanks for all the compliments about Denny's photos on FB! I am sifting through them (he took over 500), keeping the best, and dividing them into 4 sets - Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Zanzibar, and miscellaneous shots. Will try to do an album a day. Denny really did a great job - I didn't do any editing or cropping, just uploaded them as they were taken, except for the few of the black rhino which was very far away (he's in the second set that I haven't posted yet).

For those who aren't on FB, I am also putting the photos on photobucket.com and will post the link to them.

Kay, so happy to see a post from you today!! Yay!! Hope each day is better for you than the one before!!

Lori, I am really sorry to hear about FloBear - I will keep you in my prayers!

Sorry to hear that Thelma fell and hurt her ankle. Sharon, how slick is snot on a doorknob?? That surely must be a Bluefield saying - have never heard it before!!

Wanda, sounds like GG must be having some problems. Prayers for her to feel better!

Glo, hope Dex perks up soon - I know how worried you must be!

Judie, sorry the PT isn't working for you.

Have gotten all the dirty laundry washed and the suitcases put away. Even though we had a wonderful time, it feels good to be home. Can't wait to sleep in my own bed tonight!

Hot here today and it looks like it was hot while we were gone. had a neighbor watering my annuals in pots but the shrubs in the gardens look mighty thirsty!

Stay cool everyone! Think I'm headed to the shower and bed early tonight! See you in the AM!

Sandi said...

Took forever to upload the photos to photobucket but they finally finished! BTW, there are so many that I didn't take the time to do any editing or cropping - what you're seeing is exactly how they came out from Denny's camera - not bad for an amateur!

Here's the link for those who aren't on FB (hope I do this right the first time):

I received today a new eagle t-shirt and I am so glad I purchased it. Well, I wanted a pic of me in my new shirt and I wanted Ed to take my picture. As you are know I have one heck of a time getting a good smile on my face - so after the 4th photo I gave my approval. BTW before each photo I would use my hand mirror (right hand) then smile -
freeze the smile and said Take It.
So here you go!!

MeMa Jo you are a Tough old Bird and the picture is great :-). Just got off the phone with Lynne2. She is so re-assuring and helpful. Dex seems hungry tonight. That is both good and bad. I like to see some signs of an appetite but feel badly and a little scared about how much or often to feed him. We need sleep and a new tomorrow.

Doing a quick read, trying to keep up with everyone.

Watched the TV show Trust Us with Your Life. Oh my gosh, I laughed so hard I was in pain. A couple of the same guys as Whose Line Is It Anyway? Same concept. We always enjoyed that.

Good evening friends....

Magpie: as for the spider...I try to honor all life forms/all beings as sacred and with the right to exist. HOWEVER....if she had been in my home....I would have tried to have done the same, but I do have my boundaries. Thankfully she was outside where she belonged and can now go about eating insects as she was created to do.

My REAL heebie jeebie is ....MICE . cannot stand the varmints. Again, they stay outside, we are fine. They come in side.....ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Lori: Still holding you close. The loneliness after a furbaby passes is difficult....

Glo: Old age in an animal is difficult....thinking of you. We are walking a similar journey with our two Luke and Sable. They are 12 and 13 now....cataracts...lumps, bumps, keeping them comfortable until their day comes..... just part of the journey I suppose.

The painting has gone well. I will post pix on Facebook at some point. The color pleases me. I wanted a nice warm brown tone, but the house is so small that I couldn't go very dark. I think what I have chosen works.

I think painting is a very gratifying project. You see results quickly.....

I have never wallpapered anything. Mom used to do it regularly. I like paint. A fresh coat of paint just makes everything so much better!!!

Its been a good day. Neighbor came over and admired our wall and then had dinner with us. :) It is hard to eat alone night after night and we always have enough.

We took Olivia to the water park again this evening. Not too many more of those nights left......maybe we can go this weekend...

All righty, its about bed time for me. Even though I'm off tomorrow, I want to be productive and I cannot be that if I am tired.

Good night to one and to all.....Light, love, hugs, and sweet dreams!

Hi, Everyone,

Glo, glad to hear that Dex was resting comfortably with dinner in his tummy. REALLY glad you got to talk to Lynne2. Prayers continue for your little pal. Encouraged that the blood test results weren't too bad. Hope you both sleep well tonight!

Lori, still thinking of you, and sending (((HUGS))) your way. I know what a difficult time this is for you. Are you still fostering kitties?

Sandi, your photos are just amazing! Can't wait to see more!
So glad you're home safely.

Jo, I love your new shirt, and the picture of you!

Janet, I admire you for taking the black widow out in the woods and turning her loose. I'm not sure I could have done the same. I'm afraid that Hoda and I are on the same page regarding spiders!

It's wonderful to see that Kay has dropped by today! Prayers continue for you! Hope that each day is an improvement!

Margy, sorry I've missed you again!
I always enjoy reading your posts.
Guess we're like ships passing in the night! Sending big ((TIMED-RELEASE HUGS)) your way--use as needed!

Shirley, sorry to hear that Hunter got a sunburn. Hope that it isn't too bad a burn. Hope too that he soon figures out that his grandma knows best!

Thelma, so sorry to hear of your fall! Sure praying that you heal quickly. Expect a blessing for feeding the stray cat!

Judie, hope your shoulder starts to feel better soon. I'm concerned that the PT is doing more harm than good. What does your doctor say about it? Prayers!

Ms Bookworm said...

Well, think I'm going to call it a day. It's cooled off better tonight, so I'm hoping that means a better night's sleep! Have said prayers for everyone, and for every creature. JO, LOVE, love, love your shirt and your smile! Great picture!

WANDA, congratulations on your record crowd at the Soup Kitchen.
Kate keeps asking if you need anything, so let me know. I will have a bunch of clothing for you very soon.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts of FloBear and me. ♥

Good Christmas in July morning, Lori!

Woke up at 4:30am (which would be 11:30am Tanzania time) and couldn't get back to sleep. Also having some "stomach/intestinal issues" this morning - hoping it's just airplane food that didn't agree with me and not some African disease that I picked up! =)

Jo, Lona was not our guide. Lona is Lynnis's (daughter-in-law) mother, who went on the trip with her friend Brenda. Lona is an artist, so she sketched as Denny took photos (she also took some photos). She "published" the art journal that she created during the trip on FB. She would sketch throughout the day and then she had a little watercolor set that she would use to paint her sketches in the evenings - very talented! Our guide/driver for the 2 safaris was a Tanzanian guy named Kachui.

Glo, hope you and Dex had a peaceful night!

Lolly, enjoy your time at the beach with the family - hope your back doesn't cramp your style too much!

Jo, love the new shirt!

Judy, thanks for the edited pics!

Only supposed to be in the low 80s today but then back to hot tomorrow!

Working on a 2nd set of photos, taken in and near Ngorongo Crater and Olduvai Gorge (called the cradle of mankind), which is in the Great Rift Valley on the way to Ngorongoro. Ngorongoro is a caldera formed by a volcano that collapsed and it is the home of the black rhinoceros; there are only about 15 of them left in the wild in Africa. We did see one, but from a distance. Hope to get the photos on FB in a day or 2.

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning,

Called Hunter awhile ago and got some kind of gibberish from him. He did not really go to bed until about 10:30 last night. I found him watching TV in Kathryn's room and told him it was bedtime. He'd had a very busy day and did not really argue much.

Hunter story--According to Hunter, the slide at the water park creates such strong G-forces that you will pass out if you go down 40 times, so he went down only 39 times. Some other kid dared to go down 41 times and passed out. Oh, my!

Lori O. said...

SHIRLEY, LOL Hunter's story! rotfl

SANDI how many people went on the journey with yo???

stronghunter said...

It looks like Hunter's sunburn is not too bad. I guess he got a reasonable amount of sunscreen on his back.

stronghunter said...

I am letting him sleep in for a bit. I can take him to camp just a little late. I will call to make sure he is not missing a trip to the water park or something major.

Sandi said...

Judy, I think Lona would be flattered that you shared her journal! I think she keeps her FB public b/c she's an artist and wants to share her work with the world. She also has a real job though - works for USDA!

There were 6 of us traveling together - Denny and I, Brian and Lynnis (son and daughter-in-law), and Lona and Brenda (Lona's friend). That's a nice size group b/c the Land Cruisers for safari and the taxis can hold 6 people so we were able to split the cost of transportation 6 ways.

The expensive banana was in Zurich, Switzerland where we had a layover at the airport each way!! Tanzania is a 3rd world country so the cost of living is very low. For example, Denny paid $6 for a soccer ball that he bought to give to a group of young boys so they would have it to play with. The people are so poor - wood huts with no windows or doors, thatch or corrugated tin roofs, no electricity, and dirt floors. Visiting there would cause anyone to appreciate how fortunate we are to live in the USA!

BTW, have changed my avatar to something African! Off to get ready for tennis - later!!

glo said...

Good morning. It was a much more restful night. I slept with one ear open so it was kind of broken by every sound and move Dex made but he did much better. He is a little restless but hoping for a good day. We will be off to coffee and dog treats this morning which will be chicken. He seems hungry so I think he will enjoy his visit much better today. I need him to drink those fluids. Lynne gave me some ideas on that. Will check in later. HAGD everyone.

good morning all!

thank you HODA, MAGPIE Ms. BOOKWORM, LORI, regarding the critters. Don't worry, HODA, I too have my moments of "crunch!" I think we all do. We are on a journey....we are here to learn. I KNOW YOU get that, lol. :) But we all have our place on this planet...and like I said she didn't cross the boundary of my home.....and so it was really quite easy. A glass jar with a secure lid does wonders for the courage! lol.

SANDI: feel better!!!!

Slept in today. Not such an early bird. Tom is at work; bus driver inservice....Livvy is still asleep. I think I shall finish this cup of coffee and paint some more. :)

It was nice to sleep with out an alarm clock waking me up for once! So often, even on weekends we have plans and I have to set the alarm clock. I like ot have 30 min before anyone else gets up to drink coffee in SILENCE! Preferably no tv/noise/PERIOD. Always been that way. So to have that I have to set an alarm.....but I get tired of hearing it in the morning. Refreshing just to sleep til??????

Well folks, let me skeedaddle for now. Hope everyone has a glorious day. May you have no spiders/mice/ear wigs/ or other creepy crawlies in your day, lol. :) Light, love, hugs and smiles to all! :D

Dex's Vet clinic just called me to check up on Dex. That was so very nice. They didn't wait for me to call them. Did I mention before that I love my Vets There are 2 at the clinic. One i have known for a long time. The other only for a short while. It was the newer gal who treated Dex yesterday. He is in good hands. Ate a nice bowl full of soupy chicken and rice so we have some food and fluid in there this am and he is resting nicely now. I am starting to relax a little.

Well good morning and good afternoon...I was in FB land for a while this morning.

The Dragon Boat team is racing this weekend so am not sure if we will have practice or not.

There are big changes at the yoga studio and I am not pleased. A senior teacher is no longer there and I am very upset about it. Waiting to hear where else she will teach so I can continue to go to her classes.

Beautiful sunny morning this morning and I am headed out to enjoy the day.

Stay well everyone...

Good afternoon all. I spent at least 30 minutes watching the golden retriever cam this morning. Those puppies are so cute and were very playful, then just dropped to nap as youngsters do. Holly, the mother dog could be a twin for my Daisy. Then I got busy and packed my bags for my trip to AK tomorrow.
Sandi, I am amazed that you have done so much since you've been home. After all of that traveling you managed to do all the laundry, and put away suitcases the day you arrived home and still have energy for tennis today. Not to mention all those wonderful photos--you should be on an ad for the energizer bunny. LOL

Good afternoon! Finally on my laptop and have a great signal. We spent the morning on the beach, flew one kite but the wind was too strong for the new fancy one. Laurel and the boys are at the pool and Jack and I are resting. My back continues to bother me. Makes me so mad! Going to lie down for a while. That usually helps.

Jo, I will check the list when I get home. Nothing has changed.

Thank you all for your kind words about the yoga situation at one of the Studios here. I went for a very long walk and did not go to yoga today. I cleared my head and I trust that things will unfold as they should and I am intouch with Elissa, she is on FB on two pages...so I know that the minute she sets her new place she will let me know what is going on. I am just sad that the owner of this studio keeps losing good teachers and does not learn that it affects her business too...it has happened way too many times over the past three years and this time I am struggling with it lots.

I went for a lovely walk and ended up at the Market and how so very festive it was over there and I met several people I know and visited with them and then went to the Library where I learnt how to download audio books and now have three and also checked out two books so I will be well read in the coming few weeks.
It is not at all complicated to download books and I think it is a terrific service from the library.

Beautiful absolutely beautiful here today and the sun is out but it is not too hot and there is a bit of a breeze...blessed be blessed be blessed be.

Glad KAY joined us again today and such a good sign that she is improving. HURRAH.

Kris did visit with me - she brought soup and sandwiches from Paneras. Then she got after me to clean out all my t-shirts - in 2 drawers. So we did and the ones I'm keeping she washed and put them all on hangers so that I would not have that center line fold crease! Love her!

Lolly has been putting a few pics on FB

I'm working on it...

one nice thing about being here at this hour is that my Nicotianas are all flowering out...you know, evening flower that it is...

Oh...the daylight hours are shortening ... later sunrise, earlier sunset....

Sounds good, Jo...
Hanger are great....some things of mine hitch-hike onto others....like a short sleeve blouse on same hanger with a t-shirt...so I can see them both but save a little closet pole space

Shirley..the kids don't really do that pass out thing on the water slide do they ?? I was kind of perplexed on that one...

well, here I go again...saying so long and then coming back...but
Sayonara now...
and See You'uns Later ...

Oh, Margy. Please do not worry. No. It is a kid thing. Somebody made it up. Maybe Hunter. No one is passing out on the water slide.

stronghunter said...

Just got back from the Bonefish Grill. Got a phone call from Kathryn and then one from Susan. Susan was on her way down here because Heidi and her fiance wanted to get together with us for dinner.

Heidi grew up next door to us back in the old neighborhood. She is Susan's age. She and Jay, her fiance, spent the past year in the Dominican Republic.

She is kind of like my 5th child.

Before she went to the Dominican Republic, Heidi was teaching at Hunter's elementary school. He had a little trouble remembering not to call her by her first name. Heidi said it confused her little first graders when Hunter (4th grade then) came in and called her by her Heidi, but he has known her by that name his whole life.

stronghunter said...

. . . called her Heidi.

Hoda said...

I love the HUNTER stories SHIRLEY...he is genuine and with a good heart and a vivid imagination...maybe he will be a writer when he grows up???Does he play with words?

stronghunter said...

He plays with words in that he argues about everything someone says. He always takes the opposite side.

stronghunter said...

I say that lovingly, although he can make you crazy sometimes.

Margy - The hanger situation : I could not find my new bathing suit from last year and finally when we were clearing out my closet - there it was right under the shirt that I used as a cover-up.

grannyblt has left a new comment on the post "Monday":

LOL

HELLO...

I was looking at SANDI'S photos earlier and wondered if she slept in the tent that was pictured. I would be afraid an elephant might plow into it during the night, or a lion might find his way in...oh so many thoughts would be on my mind that I wouldn't be able to sleep!:)
I had difficulties watching the slide-show, so I quit after about 50 pictures. Will try again tomorrow after re-booting this 'puter. The ones that I did see were magnificent!

Yesterday, we saw a pair of fawns with spots and their mama in GG's yard. Today, GG saw 3 foxes near the bottom of the yard. She was quite excited to tell me about that because she knows how much I like them:)

Off to bed with me...my day starts pretty early tomorrow.
Love and prayers for all♥

Thelma, hope you're feeling better today--hope your ankle is not hurting much. Good to see you here this morning!

So good to see Kay here, too! Really grateful that you're improving! (((HUGE HUGS)))!!

Lolly, hope your back feels better, pronto!! Sounds like you're all having a great time!

Oh--need to wish a HAPPY BIRTHDAY (although a bit tardy) to PAMELA!
Hope your day was spectacular!

Shirley, I get such a kick out of Hunter! I'm glad he's enjoying day camp. It's ever so much better than playing games on the computer, I'm sure--for both him, and for you, because you get a bit of time to yourself. BTW, how is George doing? You haven't mentioned him lately.

Emma and I slept in late this morning. We haven't been sleeping as soundly with the hotter weather.
It was a bit better today, and they're predicting a high of only 77 tomorrow!

JudyE, love your avatar of the sunset! Very pretty!

Well, think I'm going to go hit the hay. Need to catch up on some shut-eye. Prayers have been said for everyone, and for every creature. The porch light is on, and both security systems are enabled. Wishing for a restful night's sleep for everyone, with SED. God bless, and goodnight. Love all of you!

Good Thursday morning my eagle friends! Back to hot and humid today here in Bethany - yesterday was a nice reprieve! After tennis, I helped out with parking cars for our annual cottage tour from 12-4pm. Between the jet lag really kicking in and the exercise that I wasn't used to after 2 weeks of no tennis, I was exhausted! Forced myself to stay awake til 8pm, then slept for 10 hours!

Today is a day off from tennis and the refrigerator is scary empty, so the grocary store is def. on the agenda.

Kay, good to see you on the blog! Hoping that each day is better for you than the one before - wish the healing wasn't so slow.

Sounds like Lynne1 is going on a big trip and Jo and Paula are going on little ones - safe travels.

Lori, thinking about you. How is Dali doing without FloBear? I can honestly say that, when something happens to one of our dogs, the other one will not miss the one that's gone - doesn't matter which goes first. I think either of mine will be delighted to be an only child. BTW Lori, how are things working out with Kate's mom? Is she still demanding to "go home" or has she adjusted to her new place?

I did a little editing of the Serengeti photos on photobucket yesterday and also put the Ngorongoro pics on there. Rather than put the links to both sets on here (for those who aren't on FB), I have put both links on my blog, in case someone wants to look at them.

Need to feed dogs and then read back thru last night's comments. BBL.

Lori O. said...

SANDI, good morning! I still have to read back and catch up this morning.

Dalai is doing well...she was confused at first, but we let her sniff FloBear's body so she would understand that he was gone. I think they know.

Kate's Mom is still insisting that she is leaving the assisted living facility. Good thing it's a small place or she could probably sneak out unnoticed. Her memory seems to get worse on a daily basis. She's definitely gone down hill being taken out of her own home, but Kate expected that. It's all very sad. She keeps telling people that she's got a teaching job in Ohio and can afford to move out. She doesn't realize she's in Virginia.

Going to have to get things rolling here very soon. Hunter is still in bed.

Hope Judie makes good progress on her school planning today.

Hope today is a good one for everyone--thinking of Lori and her household, Glo and Dex, Paula and Studmuffin . . .

George is okay, Andy. He has learned that Kathryn feeds Lucky, then takes a shower, so he sneaks up and steals Lucky's food when he hears the shower running. In fact, he checks out Lucky's food dish whenever anyone takes a bath.

We had a very nice dinner last night with Heidi and her fella. The wedding will be in September.

Must go for now.

Morning all. This is the day I leave for ALASKA. It will be my 4th trip. My daughter and her husband and my 3 grandchildren live in Anchorage. I hope to see bunches of eagles but average one sighting per visit. I've only seen a moose on one trip and no icebergs, but certainly glaciers and fireweed. I have nothing in particular planned except maybe a day train trip. B is nearly 12, L is 14 and T nearly 16 and they are busy grandchildren so we will probably stay around Anchorage for the mostpart. My trip is to be with family, all the rest is gravy.
I need to scoot and get Daisy to the vet--she is having her teeth cleaned on her first day at Orchard Creek. I haven't told her yet but she wonders why she didn't get her milk bone this morning. SED to all. I will try to stay in touch with my Kindle..

For now, EagleCam will be offline until the winter nesting season. Thank you for watching EagleCam in 2012. We'll see you in 2013.

I was so upset, JUDYE, to read that the live cam will be down now. UGH! I hope the still cam issues get resolved. Prayers for our eaglets/juvies.

I will keep you posted when Elissa, my favourite yoga teacher lets me know where she is teaching next. I think she is in shock that the studio she has been with for years all of a sudden turns their back on her because she offered a workshop in Mexico in the autumn.Meanwhile I found another young teacher who knows that yoga is more than physical exercise and I liked her class so I will go to her Friday evening...she is young and is trying to get her experience under her belt but she is also a good teacher. Her classes are by donation and I think that is very sweet. I will pay her the way I pay a regular yoga instructor...Life continues to unfold and reveals many many many mysteries and I know gratitude for all that comes my way. HUGS LORI♥

Hi,

Got a chicken in the oven. Hunter and Kathryn are at football practice. We will have a late dinner tonight.

Can't have the green beans that were in the refrigerator. I knocked them out of the refrigerator and the top popped off. They were devoured by the basset hounds.

I haven't mastered the accent mark thingy, either Margy.

Hmm, I could set the spell check for French, but that might cause other problems.

Really wondering if the football practice will actually last 2 hours. It is mighty hot out there. I told Kathryn that I was quite happy to stay home.

Hunter might have a new activity to replace his X-boxing. I picked up the book he requested from the library and he started reading in the car. Much better!

Hello My Friends...

Finally back from Florida and we are totally exhausted. We worked 12-14 hour days for six days straight on the condo and there is still more to do.....

We did all we could for now and things are MUCH better. There were so many unfinished things to be done, fans to be replaced, light fixtures to fix, cabinets that needed work, studs and drywall work to finish, sealing, painting, cleaning and replacing of all electrical outlets and more...

I had no idea the place was in such poor shape and was pretty upset at the condition it was left in, too.

Nonetheless, we drove home Tuesday and Wednesday and unpacked and got settled back here today.

Would love to catch up with all of you, but have to catch up on work and other things here in the next couple days.

I've missed all of you and hope to post again in the coming days!!

xoxo ♥

Take some time for yourself, LINDA...it's very important and worthwhile. I'm going to do that just as soon as the earth stops moving;)

Welcome home, Linda. Sounds like you got a lot done!

Going to storm here too!

Better that they took the live feed down instead of everyone getting frustrated trying to get it on. At least we still have the wonky still cam...it throws out a good pic every once in awhile.

I wish our Juvies a safe journey to lands unknown...
