Hello all. I'm home. Whew---what a trip.....ran into 3 heavy storms--rain was awful.
Tired after a glorious day of fellowship. Palmer didn't fledge for us, but that's okay. Don't want her to go if she's not ready. But we did see some flapping. Belle and Lib in evidence but not too visible much of the time. Great food, and thank goodness for the A/C'd Eagle Express. Need to catch up, but gotta get rid of headache first.

Lolly said...

And, sometimes you can get long in a split.

Bless you, Palmer!

Hope the headache takes a hike pronto, Lynn

Once again, Bravo to all of you getting this nest visit put together !

Nest Visit Report from previous page

Thanks Glo for the video! Great!
Didn't rain until I left the nest and was headed into Shepherdstown to take Norma to her daughter's home. Then it poured. Everyone should have had their chairs folded and in their vehicles headed out. What a well attended Visit! 27 in all! Lots of talk and fun times. Lots and lots of
pictures should be soon forth coming.
Palmer most of the time was just looking down on us. Adult had flown into the tree and was just under the nest to the right. We told her it was alright to take off but really did appreciate her sticking around
She is a very very beautiful eaglet.

Mema Jo said...

Lolly - I tried 3 times to call you but didn't have service! Sorry!

Norma got the biggest hug from Paula because it was from all of you. It was
so great to be in her company again!

BEagle said...

Palmer digs right in. Getting flapped by the tail fins.

Nice Palmer audience.

Mema Jo said...

Margy and Lolly - Great photos in the album.

Mema Jo said...

I need to put up my feetsies but
first I must thank Lynn and Wanda for the lunch - it was just right! Thanks to Lynn, Paula and Kristen for the sweets! And a special thanks to Capt Gene just for being Capt Gene!

Lolly said...

LOL I really need to read my posts better. Meant you can get LOST in a split. Oh, well.

BEagle said...

I knew what you meant Lolly. After a while you get used to blog vocabulary. lol.

Lolly said...

Jo, sorry I missed talking with you. Talked with Paula, Wanda, Suzanne and Norma. Wanted to talk with Lynn, as well and missed her, too. I am so glad you had a great day. You will all enjoy Glo's video!

Lolly said...

Lynn, so sorry you have a headache. Not good! Too much sun?

magpie said...

OH thanks for getting that enormous Hug to Norma, Paula and from many others, I am sure ! She is so little hope she is not squeezed to an even smaller size !

sure hate to depart this fabulous company...will have a BIG cup of Java in the morning so I can read all the posts and check out pictures !

Thanks to all you nesters for your being there !

Save traveling prayers for all those on the road....

and best wishes to all the Eagle♀'s and ♂'s - here, there and everywhere !

time for work !

Wow ! Looks like the at home Momsters chatted up a storm! Was great to see evryone!
Paula was able to see before she got there, that both parents had come to the nest. While we had just parked at Day Care Ctr., we saw one parent fly in & then out. After quite a long time, could see some flapping in the tree below & to right of nest from our view from the road in front of nest (we moved!!)Paula thought it was Belle. Was sitting the whole time we were there.
We got home at 4:30--had to leave a tad early, but my heart was with everyone toasting. SO glad you were able to hear the car horns! How clever of you, Glo, to do morse code!
A special TY to Wanda, Gene, Lynn & Jo for organizing & for all the great food. The eagle express needs to get tips for running the motor for the AC!!! How 'bout a solar panel??? LOL
I may have to take a Panda nap~~I think the driver already is in front of car qualifications!!!AARRGGHH~~If I'm clever I can snatch the remote & turn it down!!

Lolly said...

I just want to know....did all 27 get in the EE at the same time? Did you break a record? LOL

Lolly said...

Come on Loweeda....we know you are VERY clever....get that remote!!!

Lolly said...

I do believe that Palmer is still looking for you guys!!!☺

paula eagleholic said...

Howdy, all!

Just walked in the door a few minutes ago, had a couple of stops to make on the way home.

It rained about a mile from the nest when we were leaving around 3-3:15...that rain went on somewhere else, finally have a nice shower here at home.

paula eagleholic said...

Did Palmer get rained on at all?

Lolly said...

Yes, Palmer got rained on. He also got some good jumps in when the wind was really blowing. Thought he was gone for sure. LOL

paula eagleholic said...

Daggone, if we had stayed longer we could have seen that fish delivery!

Had a great time! So nice to Meet Dianne and Pam!Even took a picture of the rain on the way out!

Lolly said...

I heard a horn honk at 3:19, is that when you were leaving?

Bless you Palmer!

Lolly said...

Rain at the nest started shortly after 4.

wvgal_dana said...

Got to the parking lot-no EE and no people. So I headed for the nest to make sure Palmer hadn't fledged. When I arrived I used the binaculars and Palmer was (if watching cam) 12ish looking striaght ahead. In the top of the tree was a parent possibly Belle (not under nest at that time).

Next pulled up Suzanne to take a look. Then Mema Jo pulled up.

Knowing now that Palmer hadn't fledged we all turned our cars and headed for the parking lot.

There after a bit people started arriving.

Meeting, greeting, Hi's and hugs were delivered. The EE pulled in and more cars. Then more of the same was given.

Then so we weren't in the parking lot and possibly Palmer fledged. We headed some of us in our cars following Capt. Gene and Mate Wanda with those aboard the EE.

After parking chairs were placed out. Then suddenly we all seen a parent (thinking Liberty) flying in with a fish in his talons. The Belle flew into nest so all the family was in the nest.

PA Nana said...

Hi everyone! Finally at my nest about an hour ago. Called ahead to have youngest start the a/c's. Sure glad I did!

Boy, it's a hot one today. All I need is some soap & shampoo.

It was great to finally put faces to the names I see on here. Thank you to all for the food supplied.
Special thanks to Capt. & Wanda for the use of their EE. Without the EE it would have been unbearable (weather wise).

I also finally got my Eagle Beads!!! And Mike enjoyed the visit too. Thanks to Frank & Steve for making him feel comfortable with strangers.

Now, a shower before the storm hits.

Hope everyone got home safely. bbl

paula eagleholic said...

The hum was loud on the NCTC in house feed as well...

The horns honking at 3:20 was when we were leaving....Sharon, Dana and I all yelled "Bye Palmer", but I guess that couldn't be heard...it was a couple of minutes before the horns.

paula eagleholic said...

A BIG THANK YOU TO WANDA, GENE, JO AND LYNN FOR ORGANIZING TODAY'S GET TOGETHER!

wvgal_dana said...

Later one parent flew out of nest. Myself I didn't see were the other parent went.

Palmer began a display of exercising and stretching those awesome wings of his/hers. The put on a wonderful display of how high I can use my wings and get air. Which was not very high still holding onto sticks in nest.

Later Paula notified me that only one parent left. She said where to look and I did. It was under the nest on some limbs. I said I be darn.

See are Eagles are smart. Don't want to sit up in that hot sun all the time on a limb. Claim a limb under the nest in the shade. SMART!!!

paula eagleholic said...

Lolly, we had quite a few in the EE for the toast, I have a video, which I'll work on later.

hedgie said...

Headache is just about gone---think it was from driving in the rain.....SO hard to see and wipers were on high-speed!!
Thanks to all on here for keeping the home fires burning. Loved Glo's video. Sent the link to Judie since she was having trouble. Hope everyone gets to see it. Thanks, Glo!
LOL, no way everyone could fit in the EE at once!!!
Glad Jo, Loretta and Paula made it home safely....need to hear from others. Sharon and T-bird were thinking about getting a motel room with a pool!! If so, and it's in S'town, bet they'll hit the nest again in the morning!

Lolly said...

Sorry I missed your good byes, but I heard that horn and commented on the blog. LOL

You will see the picture of all three in the nest, Dana. It is in the album that Jo had ready for today.

wvgal_dana said...

I thought I would definately get caught in that terrible storm. Which kept getting darker and darker. I took the back roads home and made it inside in time to let the dog out. About 5 minutes later thunder, lightning and forceful wind and rain.

I sent up a prayer while I was driving for all those that might still be driving and get caught in the storm.

Hope Bluefield Delegation didn't get caught in the storm. I am just thinking they are possibly the longest to have to reach home of all of us that was there.

Lolly said...

Glad your headache is going away, Lynn. Headaches are not fun!

hedgie said...

Jim, thanks for reminding me to check on Doreen. So sad that things have taken this turn. I feel SO lucky. I know that Doreen has made peace with the Lord and does n ot fear dying, but she sounds like such a fantastic lady, that her passing will leave a huge void in her family, church and community. Prayers that her passing will be easy and peaceful.

wvgal_dana said...

For those that were at the nest. They will understand this and some of you others will too.

"Ain't no ticks on me
Ain't no ticks on me
I use Frontline of
Doggie so much enter
my skin too. lol"

Lolly said...

Well, I was very selfish this morning. I was at the computer as the sound is better, and to my right on Jack's roll top desk, I had my laptop. Can save pictures from the live feed on it. So, I was hogging both computers. Jacob came in and asked to get on one. Told him it was my turn. Shame on Grandmommy! However, he was watching the eagles, too and was there when an adult flew off. He was impressed. Laurel was sitting beside me when we were listening for the horn. We heard the morse code and I got tears in my eyes.

hedgie said...

Jo, did you make it over the mountain before the rain hit?
Is Kristen keeping the kids overnight? I could have brought them home if they had to do it today!

wvgal_dana said...

Lynn1-Hedgie is Doreen someone that you all were praying for when I wasn't on the computer?

paula eagleholic said...

Aw, Lolly, it's OK to be selfish once in awhile! I wouldn't let Cohen on the computer either, so I could check on the nest this morning. Then he was checking out the eagles and it was like "cool"!

Wait till you read what Wanda handed out before the toast, talk about tears in your eyes...there were quite a few.

paula eagleholic said...

Oh, and Megan made it too, she was giving away plants :)

paula eagleholic said...

I brought home 2 nicotania plants, so I had to stop and get a nice heavy pot for out on the deck!

hedgie said...

Hear Margy on the scanner. Have a feeling she's going to have a busy night...:(

kickngbird said...

Wow - whiny buzz is gone from the audio. And I watched Glo's video - that was wonderful! And read recaps of the visit, which sounds like it was great - including much cooperation from all 3 eagles that we've been watching so intently. Seems Palmer was watching the visitors intently!

paula eagleholic said...

Oh, and there is no internet access at the nest..govt facility, all systems secure. If you had a roaming wireless card, such as Sprint or Verizon, you could get one.

Lolly said...

Well, I was just glad you could get a phone signal! Not surprised you could not get on your laptops.

Lolly said...

Glad Megan made it....and handing out plants, too!!!! Wow, what a day!

wvgal_dana said...

I brought the Cardinal Vine from Megan on Sunday May 30th. Planted it in a pot on my porch on wheels. That way it will be easier to bring inside when winter starts. I ask Megan today, "When do you think it will start blooming?" She said, "Any time now". After the rain I went outside on porch and there is the most beautiful red bloom. COME ON HUMMERS!!!! I had also brought purple salvia from Megan which each year I plant in my moss baskets hanging off porch. Hummers love them. They have been blooming beautifully.
Megan sells/grows the nicest plants...grown with love.

wvgal_dana said...

Lolly you need to email me you phone #'er. I had it on other cell phone. When I called you from the nest I must have made a mistake in one of the last 4 numbers. A Mrs. Johnson in Texas answered. lol

stronghunter said...

Hi,

Had to shut down the system awhile ago because we had an impressive thunderstorm.

wvgal_dana said...

So strange the still cam shows more of Palmer than the live. Does some knowledgeable person know why?

Getting very windy at nest. Hang in there Palmer !!!

stronghunter said...

Hang on Palmer!!

Windy at the nest.

stronghunter said...

Leaf or something blew against the cam lens then blew away. Would like to think it cleaned away the webs.

hedgie said...

Severe storm warning.....looks like only wind so far. Hang on Palmer. Sounds terrible. Leaves plastered across lens---thankfully blew off.

Lolly said...

Hang on Palmer. LOL He seems to like those gusts of wind. Well, he is hunkered down now. Really glad that leaf did not decide to take up permanent residence over the cam.

glo said...

So anxious to see Paula's video of the toast and find out what Wanda gave out too. It was an emotional sort of time there at times I am sure. I think Palmer is another eaglet that we will all be carrying in our hearts forever. Deb's name in Morse Code sort of had that feel of sending love heavenward from the nest site. I am sure she does know how much she touched many a life in so many different ways.

Lynne2 said...

We are back! What a great time today! So glad to see everyone!!! My face is sunburned! Ran into some serious downpour just after leaving. Now we have a storm heading for us here. Thank you so much for the great food and to Wanda and Gene for sharing the EE!

Dana, how cool you have a flower already!!

Paula was the "Butterfly Whisperer" today!

BEagle said...

Having fun reading all the reports.
Missed the leaves on the lens though.

Hum.m.m. Maybe the leaves wiped out Boris and his web madness.

It's a thought.

Anyway, love the reports. Glo's video really helped too.

Lynne2 said...

storm moving into Shepherdstown now

wvgal_dana said...

I am hearing thunder again. As Steve said when the Liberty flew over this way one day by WalMart. Steve said it is only a 10 minute fly for them to here. Takes me much longer to drive there tee hee

wvgal_dana said...

Palmer keep those wings close to your body. This is no time to stretch them out.

Lolly said...

Lynne, so glad you got to go and meet everyone today. I know you had a wonderful time.

Yea, Paula, so glad you videoed the toast. Can hardly wait to see it.

Lolly said...

Several times today when there have been terrific gusts of wind, Palmer has spread his wings. I just knew he was going to blow away.

wvgal_dana said...

Oh we should start seeing Pam on the blog instead if fb. She found her password or whatever she was missing. So that is great we will be getting another Eagle Momster (I feel she already is). Jo will help her or Paula to get signed up. Was so great meeting her and her bf.

Yes you are right Paula and the "Butterfly". I almost forgot about that until you mentioned it. Now for me I thought that was awesome. I beieve Paula got a picture and maybe someone else did. Lynn2 did you get a picture of it?

Lynne2 said...

I got pictures Dana!

hedgie said...

Stepped out to see if there was any thunder (no) and Hummer got very angry with me and chattered!

hedgie said...

Lolly, Lynne was at our Deb Memorial Luncheon last year, so she already knew most of us!

Lynne2 said...

Glo, what a beautiful tribute to Deb....she was certainly there with us today!

OH LOLLY......today was my first taste of BACON PASTA!!!

I swear we are in some sort of "cone of dryness". That storm that was coming right at us got a couple of miles from our doorstep and then shifted north. We've had that happen over and over for the last 3 weeks. We really could use some rain here!

paula eagleholic said...

Really really sticky here, think it's time to put in the AC's.

BBIALW

LOL, guess I forgot to post that...AC's in, house is cooling...

hedgie said...

Storm seems to have passed in S'town. Palmer is preening and thankfully wind noise is almost gone!

Lynne2 said...

I got a video of most of the toast. Hope I have some time to do pictures tomorrow. Since I didn't have my computer for 2 weeks, my camera is pretty backed up with pics that need to be dealt with!

paula eagleholic said...

And I heard that wind really blowing at the nest!

Loretta knows what kind of butterfly that was, some sort of swallowtail.

And Wanda told me there is a caterpillar on the milkweed pic I took last week, I have to go back and look!

Lolly, there wasn't too much to say after reading what Wanda wrote, so it was a simple toast, but heartfelt ♥

paula eagleholic said...

Gotta feed the dogs, then maybe I can look at pics...

Lynne2 said...

It was a zebra swallowtail. That Lorretta knew right away! I had to get on the ground and get a picture of it, and ended up getting 2 ticks on my arm in the process. UGH

We saw goldfinches, an Eastern Kingbird, Paula and I saw a Tree Swallow and so many different dragonflies at the pond. Also, 2 Pileated Woodpeckers and some Orioles!

Mema Jo said...

I'm back - just a sandwich for dinner and piece of my favorite cake! LOL

Hedgie I never thought about the kids going back to Hedgesville with you. Boy they would have loved riding in your truck! I had called Melissa when we were sitting outside but Sophia answered and chatted just like her Mom but then we lost the call. She told her mom later that she had talked to Mema and Meme and Anthony and that they said they loved me! Well Melissa didn't really believe her until Kristen said, Oh yes we did!

Lynne2 said...

I fell asleep in the car on the way home!

paula eagleholic said...

Palmer is eating right under the cam with her back to it

paula eagleholic said...

And eagles, turkey vultures, barn swallows, red winged black bird, crows and mocking birds!

Thanks, Lynne!

Lynne2 said...

Pretty bird!

Nice to meet Pam today....she reminds me of someone and I just can't put my finger on it!

Steve said he had a really nice time today, too! I'm so glad!

Mema Jo said...

I hit the down pour going through Shep'stwn to Lisa's with Norma. Lisa came out to the car with umbrellas. Then the whole way up the mountain it rained - really hard at times.
It is pouring now here... only had 1 lightening strike.

Lynne2 said...

Palmer looking right up at the cam and squealing!

paula eagleholic said...

Oh she is looking right into the cam, I saw her eyes blinking!

BEagle said...

I was just looking at Palmers backside. Probably the rest of the fish has her attention.

I was trying to identify the articles in the nest. I didn't notice them before.

Dana, I love your reports about your day. Full of color and detail.

Thank you.

paula eagleholic said...

Adult may be up in the tree!

paula eagleholic said...

BEagle, there are 2 turtle shells, one large, one small

paula eagleholic said...

We had a second shower here too, not as hard as the first. Clearing up again.

paula eagleholic said...

I am not even ready to eat yet, still full from lunch.

Lynne2 said...

BEagle, will you be able to make the Open House in October?

Lynne2 said...

BEagle, will you be able to make the Open House in October?

Lynne2 said...

what is going on....I'm in TRIPLICATE

Lynne2 said...

adult back, my goodness what a racket!

Lynne2 said...

Puddles is very concerned about the noise and staring up at the computer!

BEagle said...

I am already making plans.

I am already making plans.

I am already making plans.

There I just put it all on one post!
: D

kickngbird said...

Palmer going to challenge? Maybe not?

BEagle said...

Is THAT a turtle shell next to Lib's head?

BEagle said...

Firefox just crashed.

Lynne2 said...

LOL BEagle!!!! Good, it's going to be great....we had to miss last year due to car issue. Really looking forward to this year!

Lynne2 said...

Looks like Hidey is moving in for a steal....

Lynne2 said...

Just bit the adult. Nice baby.

kickngbird said...

There was a little pecking

hedgie said...

Paula....no central air?? And you haven't had it on until now??? Whew!!!

Palmer just nipped Belle when she didn't give her food!

Lynne2 said...

Adult gone

BEagle said...

I like those rare close ups when Palmer checks out the cam.

kickngbird said...

I don't know that there was anything left - I think Lib finished off what Palmer had left behind; the "get away" behavior wasn't to protect anything Palmer was eating now just to protect food in general, which is something she does need to learn to do

BEagle said...

Palmer is checking her wings.

"See my wings and how they measure across the width of the nest?
These will take me high over the mountains!!!"

paula eagleholic said...

Yes, BEagle, 2 of em...turtle shells.

Lynne, it hasn't been that bad....no, no central air..couldn't afford it when house was built.

Dogs will enjoy the AC :)

Lynne2 said...

we don't have central air either Lynn. Just a window unit in the bedroom. Luckily it stays bearable in here with the fans. I try to do the cooking and cleaning EARLY before the afternoon heat. We have a unit for the downstairs for when it gets really hot.

Think I'll go wash my sweaty self and put some lotion on my sunburn. Guess i wasn't in the shade as much as I thought!

kickngbird said...

Or was that Belle? I was going by BEagle's comment saying it was Lib, but I can't really tell myself

paula eagleholic said...

LOL Lynn, you just called Palmer Hidey

paula eagleholic said...

And now sunshine at the nest

wvgal_dana said...

If any of you Lynn2, Beagle are going to come Oct 23rd Open House make sure you call early for hotel
reservations. They book up fast early. The Clarion Hotel in Zhepherdstown is where we usually have the dinner at after the Open House. Then Shepherdstown is The Comfort Inn Of Shepherdstown. Those are really the only two hotels there. So book early!!

kickngbird said...

They are beautiful wings, aren't they

paula eagleholic said...

Whoa, Palmer that's not the launch spot!

Lynne2 said...

well now I sure did, didn't I! Wouldn't it be cool to know where Hidey is right now? I guess in a way I'm glad I don't know, because, well...you know. But hey, maybe Hidey was at Conowingo this winter! Maybe we saw her and didn't even know!

BEagle said...

Well Palmer just plopped down at 12 o'clock. Pooped from all the fanfare today, the heat, the food.

Makes us all giddy and ready for a nap.

Lynne2 said...

Looks like the Bluefield gals my be running into some weather.

BBL

paula eagleholic said...

Lynne, I got a pic of the black and white dragonfly

Lynne2 said...

and guy!

Lynne2 said...

YOU DID!!!! COOL! Let me know when you post it and I'll loook him up in my booK!

BEagle said...

I am sure it was Lib. The rounded edges of the wings next to the head are more pronounced than Belles.

Let me know if I am wrong though.
All right?

wvgal_dana said...

Lynn1-Hedgie have you tried calling Sharon to see if they are on the road? I have tried but for some reason it starts dailing then disconnects. I am worried with all these storms around????????

Mema Jo said...

Bedford gals may have been looking for somewhere to just stay over this evening.

Mema Jo said...

Man I want to know where is Spunky!
Should have started a white head and tail. 4 yrs old........

BEagle said...

Dragonflies eat a lot of mosquitoes.
I am still trying to figure what purpose the mosquito has on the earth.

Anyway, I could use about a dozen dragonflies now.

I love to watch them flit and fly.

Mema Jo said...

Dana - with the Open House being held on Oct 23 - a week later than usual -
the Shepherd Graduation and the Apple Festival (?) will have already taken place. I don't think I am mentioning the correct festival in Martinsburg

Still since you know our affair is Oct 23 - booking ahead is a very good idea.......

BEagle said...

We need to put an antenna on Palmer so we can keep track of her.

BEagle said...

Is the Open House a day long or two?

Lolly said...

It is on one day, Saturday.
Gonna be there! However, Friday night is a get together! Will be there for that as well!

paula eagleholic said...

BEagle the Open House is one day, from 10-4, then we do dinner afterwards. We have also gone to the Potomace Eagle train for a ride on Sunday in some of the past years.

paula eagleholic said...

Lynne, I did get a couple of other dragonflies, but they are fuzzy.

Lolly said...

I am headed out to water some pots. We were without water for a while. EEEEEK! Jack turned off the water to do some plumbing and could not get it turned back on. However, all is well now.

wvgal_dana said...

mosquitoes actually are a valuable source of food for many creatures that were made to benefit mankind. For example, frogs, lizards, and some fish eat mosquitoes. These insects are an important link in the animal food chain, thus ultimately they are for our benefit as well. There is a balance in nature that we sometimes do not recognize or appreciate

BEagle said...

Is the Potomac an old coal powered train?

paula eagleholic said...

I have 2 AC's, one for my bedroom, and one for the kitchen/living room, which are very open, cathedral ceiling, so it does both. I use lots of fans too, have ceiling fan in kitchen and 2 in basement, plus regular fans, too.

BEagle said...

OK. I will accept that there's purpose for those biting insects.

I guess fish eat them and fish eat eagles and so on.

wvgal_dana said...

If the Bluefield gals stayed in Shepherdstown I would probably be able to connect by phone???

BEagle said...

Oh nutty putty.

Eagles eat fish...I have got to Preview!!!

paula eagleholic said...

LOL, I knew what you meant, BEagle!

I'm not sure about the train...anyone else?

PA Nana said...

Have showered and shampooed and am going to get ready for bed. Been up since 4:30 this a.m.

Called for pizza delivery, Jim is safely home and it's now storming.

Thanks to everyone for a wonderful day. Goodnight & God bless!

wvgal_dana said...

Enjoy your pizza Diann and a nice rest. It was great meeting you.

hedgie said...

The web is appearing again......
Oh...saw a hummer poop shoot----hardly enough to see or count from soemthing that tiny!

paula eagleholic said...

I'll ditto that, Dana!

BEagle said...

The Potomac Eagle train...no problem. I was just wondering if it was one of the old trains or if it's simply a special train. It doesn't matter. Train rides are always fun.

paula eagleholic said...

Haven't heard from Wanda, she must be checking on GG

wvgal_dana said...

Well I'm going to get my feet up and rest my eyes.

Was nice meeting people I've never met before today.

Prayers for those traveling. Including the Bluefield Group God put your protection around them.

Paula..I didn't do it!!! (Hidey)....it was Lynne! But gotta admit I've started to type it many times!

Jo, it's the Apple Harvest Festival....you were close!

No, the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad is a regular engine. There are some open cars, tho'!
It's in Romney----where Norma lives.

For Open House weekend, we get together for Fri. evening dinner; O.H. on Sat. with lunch at NCTC, our big dinner out; and then sometimes the Eagle train on Sunday.

hedgie said...

Glad you are planning on coming, BEagle. So is Ragdoll! And, of course, Lolly and Anne Marie. GLO----when are you coming again so I can meet you???

Potomac Eagle train is diesel powered. We rode it two years ago with Paula, Deb, Anne Marie, Norma and daughter. It was great!!

Paula and Lynne---speaking of the AC: none here when I bought the house. Made do with a windoe unit in living room (also open floor plan with cathedral ceiling and my BR is the loft). Christie and I sweltered alot!! I put in central air the fifth year, and my only regret is that I didn't also add the heat pump!

BEagle said...

The leaves must have blown the top part of the spidey web. I can see Palmer.

Mema Jo said...

I am sitting here yawning - what's with that? lol

I may just have to head back that hallway sooner than normal.......

BEagle said...

I went to the Cass Scenic years ago. I thought it might be similar.

paula eagleholic said...

Lynn, I am thinking about central....have a friend who could do it...

glo said...

Hedgie I can't make any promises on when I will be back that way. Maybe I will just sort of surprise folks and show up without the head count for supper ;-) With Dex if I still have him I wouldn't be able to go to supper anyway. Nothing on the books for sure right now BUT I really would love to go there again sometime soon actually. Several folks I would love to meet and Oct is a beautiful time to travel.

well, my sunburned face is quite amusing because it's REALLY red, except in my eye crinkles from squinting.

Gonna head up to relax (loose translation, fall asleep) so I will probably not see you good folks til tomorrow.

Thanks again, everyone, for a great day! Even those who were not there, really were!

Again, so happy everyone had such a nice nest visit today. What a special treat. What a special group of people.

Shirley, glad graduation went well. Know how proud you feel seeing them complete yet another cycle of life.

Lynn, hope your headache has disappeared.

Jo, put your feet up until they will take you back the hallway.

Turning my light off. Pleasant and restful sleep for everyone. The nightlight is on for those coming in.

Thelma posted on FB that they are home safely. Got home to a big tree down in the yard---missed her car, thankfully.

hedgie said...

Glo, can't you leave Dex in his crate while you eat? You gotta eat!!! This would be a good year for you to travel----you haven't been anyplace since last year, have you? You ought to get Vicki to come again, too!!

Goodnight to those turning in. It has been a glorious day.

Lolly, Wanda's bacon pasta was delicious!!

BEagle said...

Countdown. 19 till split. Right?

BEagle said...

Bacon Pasta?

glo said...

Hedgie was just gonna post that FB message from Sharon. At least they are home safely.

No Dex doesn't go in a crate. Hasn't since he was a housebroken puppy which might have taken 2 days. I would find places to eat. When you see me you will no I am not a hungry person. Lots of pieces to try to put together to travel with Dex now. I would probably pretty much just stay out on the grounds and enjoy the area. I have seen the insides of NCTC and the cafeteria.Take some Nest tree pictures etc and get a look at the EE :-) I know another dog has sat in the Captains chair so maybe if I ask real nice Dex and I could visit with all of you in there.

Finally have my pics narrowed down, but don't think I have the energy to get them done tonight...first thing tomorrow, I promise!

We are finally home after a wonderful eagle day! Got home tonight to a tree down right behind Thelma's car, like the branches are right against her back bumper. Thank God no damage. Someone had to cut some of the tree out of the road. Tomorrow will be a getting rid of the tree kind of day I guess.

Sent Deb's sisters the link to Glo's video.

Good Idea!

glo said...

So glad you are home safely Sharon. My guess is you drove through some crummy stuff by the sounds and looks of things.

Mema Jo said...

Hedgie - you promised your recipe for the salsa dip! Soooooooooo Good!

Mema Jo said...

Paula - the older I got the more I wanted our home to get AC. Really appreciate that I have it and I also love my ceiling fans.

Mema Jo said...

Sharon I'm glad you weren't home yet because I bet you van would have been right behind Thelma's car and WHAM!

Lolly said...

Oh, wow! Getting close to another split and most of you were not even here a big part of the day. Guess who talked a lot!

Mema Jo said...

I sent an email to Steve thanking him and letting him know how our day was.
Just received an reply from him saying:

Glad it was a good day.
Steve

Told him we would be back in October.

hedgie said...

BEagle, I know Lolly will gladly give you her recipe!!!! I had it saved on my netbook, which died. I need to get it from her again, too.

Okay, Glo, I understand.

Mema Jo, I'll send out the recipe for the dip tomorrow, okay?

Mema Jo said...

Palmer is 12 weeks old today..
Soon to be gone!

BEagle said...

There is a dish called Pasta with Carbonara Sauce.

You could call it Bacon Pasta if you wanted to.

Mema Jo said...

More than ok, Hedgie
I am going back the hallway now.
