I got to see a large ship go across the screen at west end and both eagles sat and watched it to. It was the greatest feeling. It felt like I was sitting in back of them just watching the ocean with them.
Such a beautful day and it started off with stepping onto my back deck to drive my daughter to school to be greeted by 1 female turkey and two deer. Now I know why I left NYC.
It's nice to see the wildlife moving back into the area.
With the windows open it's like listening to a chorus :) with all the birds singing.
I don't know Robynann, think I might have seen a female turkey and 2 deer, once when I was walking down 5th Avenue:):):), or maybe it was too many G&T's
I came back around 4:30 as planned NOW I have talked hubby into going to get me my UNO's pizza. I just love their dough! Robynann - I saw plenty of deer and turkeys up in New York but not near the city - up like 30 miles from Canadian border last week. I didn't believe I was looking a a flock of turkeys. lol Someday I am going to ask you all about the NYCPD...But since I need to go get my pizza - don't answer me now....... Thanks Kate for the heads up on NE. All the eagles look warm today except CO rain drenched nest.
Heidigirl - you need to go over & join eaglet_monster group.....
I really wish that everyone on the blog would put their LOCATION I don't care if they are male/female or Married/single...... I like to see who my neighbor might be!
I notice that NORMA wasn't on today - she probably didn't hear about the Little Prince staying over for another 2 yrs unless she had the right news station on. She will be very happy. Mits Please tell Tai tomorrow just how happy we are for him! (I wish you could give him a hug for us)
WEnest has the Chow Line operating. Those chicks are really getting big. The VA chicks are almost as large as the adults now - that nest is crowded. Do you remember last season when food was brought in by the adult and the 3 eaglets attacked to the point that the joke was about the Food Drop just came.
Candy thanks for the heads up on the frozen time--GRRRRRRRRRRRHHHH! I didn't even notice it - I just got back from Uno's Pizza and glanced with only seeing an MT nest.
OK its done but no picture, I'm at work and I dont have one here. I have to wait until I'm "aproved" :) Its time for the kids to show up? They ususlly come just as I'm cleaning up to go home.
Hi mauley, we have eastern bluebirds here. The first time I ever seen them was when I bought my home, we are surrounded by woods. I was impressed with their bright blue and even chalked one on my daughters bedroom wall for her.
I was looking into their nests as I may add a nestbox or two in my yard.
It was so good of you to move on down to Martinsburg with your daughter. Have you been in WV long - has your daughter adjusted to the change? You're going back to school now - you will be surprised how much you will retain from your classes and just how much important input you will add to them for all. Some age & life experience does produce good outputs!
mema jo my daughtr was the one reason we moved here after I retired. She was a mere 6 weeks old and this is the only home she really knows. She got to appreciate wildlife by watching it right in our own backyard, something she wouldn't be able to apreciate unless we would go upstate NY.
After 20 plus years it was time for me to complete my degree, better late then never, who says an old dogs can't learn new tricks or in my case an education :)
You certainly did make the right decision at just the right time for you and for your daughter! You will get that degree - you go girl!! What are you taking courses in and where are you going? Robyn-I[m not nosey - I am interested. That is why they call me Mema!!! You are about the same age as my children so I feel I can relate. Hey Mits - I can relate - can't I???
Hi all--I saw Belle and Lib around lunch today when I stopped by, but I guess they didn't stick around for long. Maybe it's all the ramps we've been munching on over here :)
Looks like no new thread tonight. I have been lurking, trying to see if there was anything on the blog that I couldn't live without knowing. And there were several things I needed to know, so I will bid all of you good night until tomorrow. I was looking for information on Sandy and Tom and Mother, but couldn't find anything. I am praying for all of you. Hi Sister Sharon. I thank God for all of you in our little fold. God Bless You all and have sweet dreams and a peaceful healing sleep. Good night, donna
I've been watching American Idol and Dancing with the Stars--got behind on my "Blogging".
Jo--My Mom won't get results on her tests until Monday. Please keep her in your prayers. She is a Cancer survivor, twice. Will let you know results Monday evening. Thanks for careing.
Beautiful out this evening. Cooled down to 64 here in the valley. Hi Phyrfly, Sharon and Paula. Sorry I missed you Mauley. Robynann - I think it is great for you to go back... There are so many fields to chose from nowadays.
I did slip out on all of you for a few - Had to go and get my Mega Lotto ticket. You only need one to win!! I'm a big dreamer at times.
Wanda - I really will keep on saying the prayers for your mom to get good results from the test. I am also anxious to hear from Sandra as to how Tom's surgery recovery is coming along and how her Mom is doing. Keeping them in my prayers also.
Paula, glad you got the lawn mowed - I have no clue when we are to get some rain.. But looking at CO cam today, I guess it is headed our way. That was one drenched eagle sitting on those 2 chicks - all day long.
phyrfly, I noticed in your profile that "Notebook" is a favorite of yours. My mother ( 87yrs.) recently read that book and said it was the best book she ever read. We always take her at least 1 trip a year of her choosing--this year she wanted to go to New Bern, N.C to see where Nicholas Sparks lived and to see the Noose River. She said that was one of the best trips she has had in a long time. We plan to rent the movie and view it with her.
I just discovered that we are on different web pages. On this blog, I clicked on your name I then clicked on MY Web on the left hand side under My contacts... That's the owl pic I mean... Let me know if you find it.
I have also somehow before went to your blog and came up with the link you just sent to me............
Mema Jo, the link you went to under My Web is actually the WV Raptor Rehab Centers page. The second owl there that you see is also currently at the center. He is different then Otis, but they live in the same enclosure. The link I poted is my personal blog page. I hope that helps
Costume Lady The Notebook is a wonderful story...I have never cried so hard as I did reading that book. You are right Mema Jo...a perfect love story
I'm kinda wasted tonight, but I want to say "good night."
Frozen camera, but at least it is a good shot of a perfectly ready nest. I haven't given up totally on them ... not that it will affect them one way or the other ... but they had better get it in gear soon.
Good morning, eagle world. Good morning, Jo. Cam is still stuck on yesterday, 1820, bummer. Beautiful night, gazillions of stars, and I saw the moon for the first time in quite a while. Bright half moon. Cooler than yesterday, thought, but pleasant, 59° at my house, 64° here. But no rain so far this morning. Good news, an osprey was in the nest this morning! No eggs, and I don't see the sod ball they brought in the other day, but there is on there now, 0430. BW chicks are sound asleep, our nest as stated, stuck, and too dark to see anything else. Oh, PA said they would check the cam, didn't know it was down, it was working on their end, or at their offices. Still down this morning, though.
Did some research on the barn owls we got the link to the other day. I've been watching them. Seems of the 7 eggs, 7 hatched successfully. BUT... nest now has I believe 4 or 5. Some are sayng 4, others 5. I can see 4. Owls also are a quite a bit different than eagles... they don't wait until they have multiple eggs to start incubating, they start incubating as soon as they lay the first egg, so there is quite a bit of difference between first hatchling and last. Quite a lot of meals! Anyway, the barn owls also eat their food whole... parent does not break it up and feed them except for maybe first few days. After that, larger chicks get larger rodents, like baby opossoms, and the smaller chicks get mice. From what I read, they are also extremely hungry all the time. If parent owls are not successful in their hunting, the chicks get very cranky and loud. There is a note on the site now that if a chick dies in the nest, it is eaten by the other chicks. If you guys want to know details, you can go back and read their blogs for yourself. Nuff said about that. May try to read blogs, but it's gonna be another busy day. Since our cam is down, I won't be watching like I usually do, and of course unless cam is fixed, will miss the morning visit. All have a great eagle day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
2nd osprey just arrived, but don't know which one it is. well, they're both standing there and neither is mantling, so maybe that's a good sign. BW chicks just woke up.
It was the smaller of the eaglets that took off first, larger one was the 2nd to attempt to go in the air. 2 ospreys in nest again, 1 left for a few minutes, but now there are 2, just don't know which two.
Didn't get on much yesterday after work as I am getting ready to leave for New York St. Thursday night to see my sister. We haven't seen each other for over 20 years, so I am a little excited. We will be leaving Thursday night and coming back Monday. Short trip, as I didn't want to take off anymore school.
I will surely miss our birds, but know you will all keep posting so I can read when I get back. Maybe even Belle and Liberty will have a surprise, although I think it is getting late for that. One can always hope.
Well, have got to get to school now, so will be back later. Have to check in on BW to see if I can see those rascals trying to fly. You all have a fun day watching and talking to each other. I'll try and catch up on the happenings this afternoon. BBL
Morning, Candy. You picked a decent time to come east, weather is actually getting nice now. But, April showers, you know how that goes. Supposed to start raining this afternoon and continue until Friday. Bummer. But you should see a beautiful weekend! Don't worry, read the blogs when you get back and you'll be caught up! I like the way everybody posts whats going on, you don't miss anything. Have fun in NY State!
Good Morning all...cam is still stuck :( Checked in on the Owls this AM, and saw only 4. Like Suzanne said, it's probable that 2 are lost. I got to see them eating breakfast, but I was unable to tell if the littlest one was eating whole food, or if Mom was still doing most of the work. They are sure getting big in a hurry though.
GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES---JIM---SUZANNE--COSTUME LADY & CANDY!---I was out of town yesterday & have a meeting this a.m.---but was so excited to hear on the evening news----the "Little Prince" will be with us a "wee" bit longer!!!!----He draws more tourists to the NATIONAL ZOO---than any other one has!!!!---Aren't you the lucky one MITS----GIVE HIM MY LOVE today!!!----AH LIFE IS GOOD!-----Thanks SUZ for the owl update---aren't they interesting!!!---HEY JIM--Are you getting up or going to bed---ho!---CAROLINA---or CANDY---I have a niece named CANDY---My maiden name is Cain--so She is Candy Cain---COSTUME LADY---Have been thinking about your Mother---Pray thing are going well!!!
SUZ---You neglected to tell me--if an OWL dies----The others "eat" it!!!---More than I wish to know!!---but very interesting tid-bit!!--Aren't they a noisy crew? BEAUTIFUL TOO!
Morning Phyrfly, Normabyrd and Glo. Norma, put just enough info out there that if someone wanted to know more they could go look. I had to remember I was typing this before 5 this morning, and it's not a exactly coffee morning topic! Read the blogs for the 24th...brutal! Lost another one this morning, I'm afraid. I was watching, and the very smallest one was very weak, standing in front of Frieda, who ignored it totally, then one of the larger ones kinda pecked at him, and he wasn't well after that. Suffice it to say there are now 4 in the nest, but all pretty much the same size, so hopefully, all 4 of these will fledge!! They are beautiful birds, but I don't think I like them as much as I used to. I know that's mother nature, but I need a day or two to accept this... Sigh....back to work.
It is gong to be an exciting week as the Kent eggs will be hatcing in a matter of days, feels like I have been stalking ths poor lady and her mate awaiting their arrival :).
Morning, Robynann. The barn owls are on: http://www.birds.cornell.edu/birdhouse/nestboxcam/barn_owl_ca all on 1 line, of course. There are now 4 chicks. Mom is Frieda, Dad is Diego. Beautiful owls. Loud too, if you get sound. Just saw Spirit in the tree while Star was on the eggs. First time I've seen either of them in the tree for a long time! I'm with you Robynann, can't wait for those eggs to hatch! We'll have a birds eye view of the babies! Our cam is still down... bummer! There have been 2 ospreys in and out of the nest all morning, but I think it's our pair. BW eaglets are reting. All that wing flapping this morning must have tuckered them out. Falcon cam still down, and the WA osprey cam has someone sitting on the eggs. Don't know if it's mom or dad.
Hey Mema Jo. I am here. Not had a lot of time to blog that last couple of days. I have a scrapbook to finish before graduation plus a bunch of other stuff to get done so limiting my computer time. Thanks for missing me.
Mits, our trip to the zoo is May 9. Hope we get to see you there.
SUZ---Nature isn't always nice---One of the NATURE TV shows on DISCOVERY Sun. eve.---the other week---(forget where they were)----EAGLE MOM hunted high & low for food for her TWO chicks---while she is hunting the older chick "pecked" the younger one to death---I CRIED!---They showed the whole thing---Easier for me to accept this OWL thing---I'm late---LATER!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE I was missing you Jill :)...On May 9th, I will be at the top of the trail training at the sloth bear exhibit, so come on up, they will be feeding the sloths at 1:30, I have to learn how to help out the keepers, because they are busy setting up the equipment.
Robynann, I can't view the cam, but there is a 30 second refresh on the right of the cam. That's what I view. Gives you a top and side view of the nest box. Try that.
Morning, Mits. I tried the PA falcon cam, and for some reason, it still is not refreshing on this machine. That's a first, don't usually have problems with that cam on here, but there is a first time for everything, I guess.

talk about sitting in the nest, that Sydney nest is wonderful, mom/dad is very vocal about something right now...dead fish in foreground.
I came back around 4:30 as planned NOW I have talked hubby into going to get me my UNO's pizza. I just love their dough!

I notice that NORMA wasn't on today - she probably didn't hear about the Little Prince staying over for another 2 yrs unless she had the right news station on. She will be very happy. Mits Please tell Tai tomorrow just how happy we are for him! (I wish you could give him a hug for us)
Jo--I agree...Frozen Cam. at 6:20

WEnest has the Chow Line operating. Those chicks are really getting big.
The VA chicks are almost as large as the adults now - that nest is crowded.
Do you remember last season when food was brought in by the adult and the 3 eaglets attacked to the point that the joke was about the Food Drop just came.
OK Mits and Heidigirl - give you 10 more minutes before I click your pic!!
Candy thanks for the heads up on the frozen time--GRRRRRRRRRRRHHHH!
I didn't even notice it - I just got back from Uno's Pizza and glanced with only seeing an MT nest.

WANDA I just referred to you as CANDY ---- I got my costumelady

Did your mom get any of her results yet?
Hi Robynann - what position did you hold in the NYPD? My hubby was with MD State & I hope you weren't walking the street up there....
I was patrol mema jo, and yes on the streets of NY City, brooklyn mainly.
It was so good of you to move on down to Martinsburg with your daughter. Have you been in WV long - has your daughter adjusted to the change?
You're going back to school now - you will be surprised how much you will retain from your classes and just how much important input you will add to them for all. Some age & life experience does produce good outputs!
MITS I love your profile
But I don't believe your age - you have got to be kidding, girlfriend!!
If you click on MITS at the bottom, it shows all the pics you have ever used - even the one of little Maggie.
Those 2 little chicks at Two Harbors are still alone in their nest.
I won't sleep tonight until I see an adult with them.........
We also have not heard from our Martinsburg JILL recently....
You just got to keep track of these
momsters!
I am not blogging one more comment after this one until someone else
does. I don't like being a loner.
Going over to play my games or put some pics in the momsters album that Suzanne sent me.
I'm here...watching NCIS..
ROFLMBO......I'M MATHUZALA
mema jo my daughtr was the one reason we moved here after I retired.
I did the same thing when I updated my age - I had never filled in the year... I was ancient! lol
LOL.....OK, its fixed...Robynann, so glad you are enjoying nature, it has a wonderful calming effect.
Mema jo I am working on my BS in human resource mgmt and eventually a minor in environmental sciences. My first E.S. class begins next monday.
Though I am not a tree hugger I am interested in doing my share of protecting our environment.
Hi all--I saw Belle and Lib around lunch today when I stopped by, but I guess they didn't stick around for long. Maybe it's all the ramps we've been munching on over here :)

Hi mits...how was your day
Good evening everyone. Just got home. I see our camera is stuck.
I start my new job at 11 in the morning. It is going to be so good to be a productive member of society again.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful evening. Been out mowing the lawn. Nice night to do it!
My day was great Phyrfly.....Hello, Donna and Sharon.....have a great day tomorrow, Sharon. Watching Boston Legal, wbbl....
I've been watching American Idol and Dancing with the Stars--got behind on my "Blogging".

Phyrfly: When I go to your web site - are the two pictures both of Otus?
Wanda - I really will keep on saying the prayers for your mom to get good results from the test.
I am also anxious to hear from Sandra as to how Tom's surgery recovery is coming along and how her Mom is doing. Keeping them in my prayers also.
Paula, glad you got the lawn mowed - I have no clue when we are to get some rain.. But looking at CO cam today, I guess it is headed our way. That was one drenched eagle sitting on those 2 chicks - all day long.
Checked out all the Channel Islands chicks and looks as though all are accounted for and safely tucked in for the night.
Mema Jo--I went to my page and it came up normally, maybe try the direct link?http://phyrfly.blogspot.com/
I hope that works
If I move my cursor over the owl picture, a second picture opens. I went to the web site of yours. The rehab one...........Try it & I'll try it again.
phyrfly,
I noticed in your profile that "Notebook" is a favorite of yours. My mother ( 87yrs.) recently read that book and said it was the best book she ever read.

The Notebook is a book you can read and read again and again. I loved
it. Such a touching story.
FIREFLY Did you see the 2 owls in 1 picture yet?
I just discovered that we are on different web pages.

Good Night Mits.
Yep! I am straightened out now with the Web Site.... I love your personal one. Add some more to it, please.
I will keep my eyes open...now that someone will see it, it might be easier to post more often.
Good Night all...sleep well
I am going to call it a night..
Talk with you all tomorrow.
Good Night Everyone
Pleasant dreams and peaceful sleep
Good Morning Suzanne
OH Suzanne
Cam was stuck at 6:20:41pm
GOOD NIGHT/GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY.....
I'm kinda wasted tonight, but I want to say "good night."

All have a great eagle day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Just saw distinctly 5 chicks and Frieda in the barn owl nest. And have to say, lots of soon to be meals. Not for the weak stomached! (Is that a word?)
2nd osprey just arrived, but don't know which one it is. well, they're both standing there and neither is mantling, so maybe that's a good sign. BW chicks just woke up.
OMG, one of the BW chicks was airborne for a sec. How cool was that!!!
More wing flapping in BW. I'm guessing the one chick is gonna go airborne again. There goes the other one!!!
It was the smaller of the eaglets that took off first, larger one was the 2nd to attempt to go in the air.
2 ospreys in nest again, 1 left for a few minutes, but now there are 2, just don't know which two.
One osprey left again, more wing flapping in BW.
BW eaglets are really discovering their wings this morning. They're having a ball flapping all over the nest!
1 osprey again.
Good Morning Suz--
You are an early riser too. I just got up--have to get some coffee. Have a good day.
Morning, CostumeLady. Enjoy the coffee, and you have a good day too! BW eaglets are flapping all over the nest this morning.
Good morning Suzanne and all eagle watchers out there; costume lady too. I see our cam is still stuck. :(

Good Morning everyone. Hope your day goes well. Time flies ya know...well not always...
Sharon you have mail
Good morning everyone,
It is gong to be an exciting week as the Kent eggs will be hatcing in a matter of days, feels like I have been stalking ths poor lady and her mate awaiting their arrival :).
What site are the owls on I would love to see it.
Morning, Robynann. The barn owls are on:
http://www.birds.cornell.edu/birdhouse/nestboxcam/barn_owl_ca
all on 1 line, of course.
Last half, Robynann:

Forgot, the blog cuts part of the URL off.
Thank you Suzanne seems I am having difficulty wit quicktime due to a new laptop with a Vista operating system ... grrr
Suz, my real player PA falcon cam is fine, but the 2 minute refresh is blue, but yesterday I had no problem getting on.
STEVEN, CAN WE HAVE A NEW THREAD , PLEASE, AND A RESET FOR NEST, THANK YOU
SUZANNE, PA falcon cam is working, now
New Thread. Okay Mits, I will try to remember but will probably have to ask you one May 8 again. LOL
Morning, Jill.
Morning, all.
How does a cam "freeze" in warm weather?? :)
NEW THREAD IS UP
