GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES----THANKS to GLO---"Early Bird"---ho! & THANKS STEVEN---You are still No. 1 in OUR BOOK!!!!---SUZANNE---THANKS for the commentary---I so enjoy it each day----If you all check the JAMES RIVER BRIDGE FALCONS----You can see at least two "balls of fuzz" & an egg under her----Go to NORFOLK NEST---at right you will see JRB--1-2-4--CHECK ALL 3----different views---
Morning Glo, Suzanne, Norma, Sharon and where are Mema and Mits this am? Thanks for new thread, Steven, and for all you do for us. Sharon, my nuthatch had 7 chicks this year. A record for us. All fledged and gone. She has nested in a box for the past 5 years at the end of our driveway. Actually it is a blue bird nesting box, and nuthatches generally like a very tall cavity or box to nest in, but she likes this one it is only 4 feet off the ground. Very unusual for a nut hatch. I love birds, too. Have to keep my cats inside during fledging, though. All of you have a blessed day today in the name of the Lord. Mema, we missed you, and has anyone heard from Sandy's Tom? If so please pass along. love donna
Just checked ME---NO EAGLES----yesterday & last night----Writer doesn't think they will return---But he says the EAGLES have proven him wrong many times-----We should notify them if we see them---
It is really getting dark in BW and Shepherdstown. Little bit here too. Didn't think we were supposed to get any more rain for a while. But hey, what do I know??? MT osprey nest, the lone female got tired of waiting for whatever she was waiting for. BW chicks sleeping, I'm sure that's news. Falcon is looking pretty on eggs, Kent eagle has her wings back to normal, and our nest is MT.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE Late start for me, by the time I go thru e-mails and read all the wonderful blog info, now its time for me to check out cams...have a good one.
SUZANNE---It's cloudy here too---We have chances of rain---I think Shepherdstown does too----I have been invited to lunch---don't want you to think I am abandoning ship!! ho!---Safe trip home---Tomorrow----
Morning, Mits. Have a great lunch, Norma, talk to you tomorrow. Sun is coming out in Kent, and the eagle is talking to herself. Birds are back on our tree!
No, Mits, I didn't see it. I do a refresh, and I get the same attachments as the previous day now. So I have to go in and look at the archives, which I don't usually do first thing in the morning. She said she was gonna put those cool videos out there! Thanks for telling me!!
Thanks, Mits. It's not that hot then. Just wondered why she had her mouth open. Looks like Mom is gonna feed the little ones this time. Ok, I'm outta here.
Good Morning all. Just checking in before I hit my desk. Rain is coming to me and Santa Cruz but Catalina should stay dry. At least the winds have stopped. The crows got my mockingbird nest outside my office window. They are still perched near and the nest in shreads on the ground. Its a gray day.. Its got to get better.
Good Afternoon Eagle Buddies It took me most of the late am to play catch up. Lots of news and I can't thank everyone enough for all the the time you take to make your comments - Makes me feel like I didn't miss a thing! My visit with NY gals was great - snow and all! I did miss my daily routine of the cams, blogs and emails. But I'm back.
Hello everyone. After a long day at the hospital yesterday, Tom is recovering from successful surgery. The knee replacement equipment was removed and a new anti-bacterial "spacer" was inserted. The kneecap was broken, which did not show up on the x-rays, but probably led to the infection.
Thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Still hoping for Liberty and Belle.
Love those poop shoots! Which reminds me, where's Jo? :)
Poor Osprey nest at Bw - you can tell there has been a battle there....looking worse for the wear....hope there are soon some eggs there. The osprey are cool to watch too :)
Hi Paula - I am here - I was out running more errands then I thought I had to do. Thanks gal for keeping the Momsters' album updated for everyone to enjoy.
The opsprey have been hanging around up in New Hampshire, if you get a chance go to the site and see all the debris floating by http://www.psnh.com/osprey/live/default.asp
it looked like Belle 1st visit and Lib on the 2nd visit, jumping all over the nest...what was that all about.....Heidi, no bathroom breaks are allowed:):):):)!
While I am here Paula, I would like to thank you so much for putting the three videos of the banding and checking of the Norfolk eagles on you tube. It was really amazing to watch
WELCOME BACK JO!!!!----We all MISSED YOU!!!!----SANDYSHAW---Have had you & TOM in my thoughts all day-----So happy his surgery is successful----Best Wishes---
I will try her phone keeps going out on her. Area down there. She said also lots of deer. Just tried calling can't get her now. Thank you Carolinabeachmom for being so nice. I will tell her as soon as I can reach her.
OK, I'm happy. I got my Eagle fix for the day so I can go home happy. I need to stop my Safeway . The cupbord is bare. Have a restful evening all and Ill be back tomorrow. Oh by the way I am leaving Fri night for Monterey for the weekend. See ya later.
HELLO DANA!!!----Where have you been----Since I got back---Haven't seen you----I hope you are WELL!----THANK NILLA TOO----Let her know--I miss her too-----THANKS FOR THE UPDATE----
Lucky you Heidigirl. If that is Monterey, Calif, I lived in Pacific Grove for only 3 month when my hustand was in the army stationed at Ft. Ord (eons ago) That is very beautiful country. Hope you have a good weekend.
Well, I have checked in on all our birds. That poor falcon with the five eggs is sure having a time getting them all covered. All other birds seem to be resting or sleeping. So, I guess that is what I will call it a day. School tomorrow for me and we also have to go a half day on Saturday to make up for not having it on Monday with the storm> :( Oh well, all you eagle and other bird watchers, have a restful night. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings with our bird friends. Candy
Some cute and interesting videos at BW Eagle nest...did you see them?
There's an Osprey on the BW nest as of 22:59:01, which is when an apparent timer freezes the pic (last 3 nights anyway). Looks like they might be getting back to nesting, and they even had a new little root ball or piece of sod in the egg bowl today.
And I've seen the pair together in the nest quite a lot on guard against intruders...including this evening before I left work.
Hope you all have an interesting weekend ... starting Friday morning.
Good morning, eagle world. Good Friday morning, Jo. Morning, Jim, if you're still up. Nice night out, 39° at my house, upper 40s here, but didn't look. Hit 47 on the way down, so maybe around there. Saw a gazillion stars tonight all the way to the south of Frederick, then they went away. So guess it's cloudy here.
BW chicks are snoozing alone again, no parent. Man, they're getting big. Take up more and more of the nest in the AM. And(!) we have an osprey on the platform! Looks like a female, can sort of see her necklace (chest isn't totally white, anyway), so maybe that's our female and the interloper finally left the area. We can only hope they get down to business soon. I know they're stressing with the other woman hanging around, so I hope she leaves soon! Our nest MT, but the blinds are sorta down. Too dark to see anything else. May try to read blogs, see what I missed. I'm just so glad it's Friday!!! All have a great eagle day! Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Both BW chicks have their heads tucked into their wings. Sleeping exactly the same... they're so cute! Osprey is sleeping standing up. He has his head tucked into his wing, but she's standing on the side of the platform. At first I thought cam wasn't updating, but it is. First time I've seen the osprey in the platform asleep. Hope that's a good sign that they're more relaxed now! Lisa updated the osprey cam pages with some action from yesterday...
Well, there are now 2 ospreys on the nest, but which 2? They were staring at each other, but now 1 is laying in the nest, and the other one is still on the side, back to cam, just sitting.
Could it be our couple? The osprey that moved into the nest is now laying over the egg cup. Other hasn't moved. Are we gonna get lucky and get an egg????? Let's hope so!
OMG, too cute. One of the chicks is flat on his back, wings and feet just spread. Got a pic, will send to Lisa. Ospreys are just looking around, one still on egg cup, one on side. now other chick is stretched out.
Maybe that's Liberty. He always checks the egg cup in case maybe Belle left him a surprise, and he wants to make sure there really isn't an egg hiding there.
I'm not sure who it was. I think Belle because she was so big, but then I think Lib because of the time on the perch. I hardly ever see Belle up there. I'll send pics around later this morning, you decide. Both ospreys still staying put. Both chicklets still asleep. Falcon looks like she wants more sleep, but she's awake.
Well, another osprey is in nest now, but it may be the other female. Our female is now mantling, so I don't think it's her mate. Oh, now they're gonna have a faceoff! Oh dear, staring hard at each other.
Morning, Jim and Robynann. Jim, check out the osprey cam. Our female (spent the night) is the one in the back. The osprey in the front just arrived a couple minutes ago. Yes, I'm juggling. Not getting a lot done that I need to, but I will! Robynann, you have a great eagle watching day too. Do you watch other cams also?
Our little wing flapper really tuckered himself out! Snoozing all curled in a ball in center of nest. Other one is staying on the side, in case this one wants to flap all over the nest again. Still nothing different on osprey cam. Our female in back hunkered down... just incase. Our nest MT. Falcon sleeping on eggs in the sun.
Jim, I agree that is our female in the back. She hasn't left the nest since 4:15ish this morning when I logged on. I have a lot of pics, if I get a chance I'll send to you. The male was there earlier, they were both together, female even layed down over egg cup, but then he left and this one in front came in. As soon as she arrived, our female went to the side and was mantling, that's one reason I think this is the other woman. But you're right about the necklace..sometime you see it sometime you don't. Who knows?
Good morning Suzanne, yes I watch the VA cam, Maine(I just heard the eagles in Maine talking to one another), Kent and I also watch the three nests in California.
My term paper is struggling due to all these cams and my mom calling me several times a day asking me if there are still three eaglets in the Va nest lol.
LOL, yeah, I remember term papers. But at least you have your priorities straight! Watch those cams, you can do the term paper when it gets dark, hee hee.
Just had a brief visit by both eagle parents at BW. Kids pretty much slept through it. Ospreys still ignoring each other, or at least not fighting, but not interacting either.
Looks like our female osprey is now alone in the nest, the other one left. Don't know how long ago, wasn't watching that closely. Maybe she can relax now and give us an egg. Or maybe we should tell the ospreys about the eagle nest out west with the 2 females and 1 male. Maybe they could work out a time share with the male...or egg laying...or egg sitting... or something.
Good morning..my name is Dana and I have been watching these two eagles since last year off and on. I found a great barn owl cam I thought you guys might like to see. It even has sound! Boy do those babies make a racket. http://www.birds.cornell.edu/birdhouse/nestboxcam/barn_owl_ca
Welcome Phyrfly! Thanks for the link, but the blog cuts off the last half when you try to post on one line. Can you post the last half?
2nd osprey has arrived again, but not sure which one it is. Our female in back looked like she was gonna take off, but she didn't. Geez, we need to paint IDs on them!
Dawn is coming to Kent! Love cam1 during dawn. 2nd osprey still on edge of platform, both BW chicks still sleeping. Man, those wing exercises this morning must have really worn them both out! PA falcon trying to catch a few zzzz's.
Ok, our gal left the nest, the other female osprey is still there now. Geesh, wish they would make up their mind, getting toward "we need an egg now" time.
Good Morning All! I am new to the Belle-Liberty blog. I have enjoyed reading all your comments so much. It sounds like you are all family members. I hope to become part of your "Family".
Sunshine on my shoulders, makes me happy.... The sun is finally out here, after nearly 3 weeks without it. Looks like spring has finally arrived. Off to work in the garden, hope everyone has a great day!
GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES----JILL--JIM---SUZANNE---ROBYNANN--SANDY--& WELCOME PHYRFLY!!!---I enjoy watching OWLS too----IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DAY TODAY!!!----Maybe LIB & BELLE will nest today----Thanks for the update SUZANNE---You do it so well!!
LOl, yeah, saw that, Paula. Morning! You should have seen the one this morning, he was flapping from one side of the nest to the other. The other one had to either get out of the way, or get trampled! Then he conked out and didn't even wake up when both parents visited. Lots of exercise all at one time!
Welcome Costume Lady! I'm sure you will become a part of our large eagle addicted family! We have a good time on here.
Thanks Phyrfly for the URL. I'm gonna check it out in a few minutes.
Paula, like your title for the osprey cam. Ain't it the truth!
HELLO PAULA---FLORALGIRL (JOHN DENVER makes me cry!)---Put on # 15---& WELCOME COSTUME LADY---So very happy to have an addition to the FAMILY----(sometimes we get a little NUTTY)---ho!---But most of the time we like to SOAR!!--

Morning, Normabyrd. Glad you enjoy the commentary! Feel like I'm talking to myself...well, yeah, I am, but I know somebody will read it eventually!
BOTH IN NEST.
Lib left, just Belle now.
Chick wing exercises going on. Looks like Belle may be eating?
She has something down there between her feet, just can't see what it is.
Is anybody still here, or did everybody leave? Belle is still there.
I am here Suzanne. Just took a little break.
She's still eating. That's a good sign that she's eating in the nest.
Are you watching Belle, Sharon? What in the world is she eating?
It's too flat to be a fish, and by the looks of the size, she's gonna be there a while.
Kent eagle is stretching both wings out!
Whatever Belle is eating must be good. She's only flipping her tail on the refreshes! Concentrating on that yummy whatever it is.
OMG, look at the blackbirds in the tree watching her eat.
I'm here, but I can't watch and blog at the same time.
Good morning,
Kent has left wing extended as if protecting something.
Jim
Kent eagle doing wing stretches while on nest.
Hi Jim. She's been doing that for a while, then she does both wings. After she did both wings, she turned the eggs.

Good morning to Jim, too. donna
Morning, Donna. Belle is eating something in the nest!
Gone. And no leftovers! She must have been hungry!
Still doing wing pilates in Kent. Spreading wing feathers out now too.
Have a good day, everybody,
Got to get ready for work...
Jim
You too, Jim!
Wow, she's had her left wing out for over a half an hour. Hope she's alright!
SUZANNE----KENT WING IS DOWN!!!
Thank God, Normabyrd. She had it up for a long time! Hope it's not cramping or hurting her.
Just checked ME---NO EAGLES----yesterday & last night----Writer doesn't think they will return---But he says the EAGLES have proven him wrong many times-----We should notify them if we see them---

Sun's coming up in Kent, and Star has her mouth wide open. Is it hot out there? Maybe she's hot.

Heidi, darn crows:(.

Not for long. I guess they can't seem to get along tonight.
Pretty soon we'll need eagle eyes to see if they should come back into the nest. The darkness is settling in.
Lucky you Heidigirl. If that is Monterey, Calif, I lived in Pacific Grove for only 3 month when my hustand was in the army stationed at Ft. Ord (eons ago) That is very beautiful country. Hope you have a good weekend.

It won't come up for me either, Mits.

One of the chicks just had hiswing over the other chick. Too cute, but didn't see it right away, so couldn't get a pic. Bummer!
Osprey still sleeping.

OMG, too cute. One of the chicks is flat on his back, wings and feet just spread. Got a pic, will send to Lisa. Ospreys are just looking around, one still on egg cup, one on side. now other chick is stretched out.
BELLE HAS ARRIVED. Early, today.
I see we have a new sod ball in the osprey nest. Belle just standing over the egg cup. No, head IN egg cup.
Maybe that's Liberty. He always checks the egg cup in case maybe Belle left him a surprise, and he wants to make sure there really isn't an egg hiding there.
Moved to take off point. Think that really may be belle.
Gone...
Chicks still sleeping side by side. Both ospreys still there, but now standing by side and on the side of the platform.
Somebody's back.
Think eagle had something with them, and they are now burrying it in the egg cup. Well, were, now just standing beside it.
Well, Lib on launch pad, and my cam is not wanting to refresh. Taking a long time...
Lib looking waaaaaaaaaayyy down from launch pad.
Lib didn't leave, just turned around and now facing into the nest. Still on perch.
Now he's at jumping off point, we'll see.
Nope, back in nest, still checking egg cup.
Ospreys both still there, but not relaxed. Chicks still sleeping. Falcon awake and looking pretty.
Well, he's just standing over the egg cup.
Both ospreys still there, both BW chicks still asleep.
Now looks like he's looking for leftovers from the fish Belle had yesterday.
That's Belle, and she's gonna leave next refresh. Poof. Had 2 screens open. Darn.
Now the birds are arriving in the tree.
Mom falcon is snoozing, and Dad is on the bar, both in the sunrise.
WE'RE BACK!!!
Well, dang, gone again. There less than 2 minutes!
BIG wing flapping exercises by the chicks!!!
Man, this one chick is having a ball discovering his wings!
Male osprey just took off.
Our nest is MT, but it looks so pretty in the sunrise.
Good morning, Suzanne,
You seem to be juggling a half dozen sites at once plus the blog entries. Excellent.
I'm tired but restless, so I got up at least for a while.
Jim
Good morning all, looks like it's going to be a nice day in the mid atlantic today, 70's and sunny.
Happy eagle(t) watching :)
Ok, that is the other woman in the osprey nest. Way she is now you can see her necklace! Dang, at this rate, no eggs today!
I too thought there was a heavier necklace, but it brightens and fades with the light and with the refreshs...
I believe it is the original female in the background and the male in the foreground this morning.
I think we are still on track...wish there was a surer way of ID ing Ospreys.
Jim
EAGLE!! Our nest
BOTH!!
Good morning..my name is Dana and I have been watching these two eagles since last year off and on. I found a great barn owl cam I thought you guys might like to see. It even has sound! Boy do those babies make a racket.

Morning, Sandy! Looks like Belle now. Wasn't watching as closely as I was, and didn't see her come in.
They were both there for a few minutes, now gone again!
Morning!
Welcome Phyrfly!
Man, that was a quick visit.
Our osprey is flying around the other female. The challenge has commenced.
Ok, our gal left the nest, the other female osprey is still there now. Geesh, wish they would make up their mind, getting toward "we need an egg now" time.

Hey Suz, Lisa said that wing flapping was contagious :)
Hey Robynann, the VA cam will be down on Apr 23-25 - maybe that will help you get your paper done!
Gonna miss those little guys for a couple of days!
Sunshine on my shoulders, makes me happy.... The sun is finally out here, after nearly 3 weeks without it. Looks like spring has finally arrived. Off to work in the garden, hope everyone has a great day!

I love John Denver, too.
Oh, love the owl site, Phyrfly! Love barn owls, they have such a pretty face.
We have 2 ospreys in the nest, but have absolutely no clue which 2. I give up trying to keep track of them.
Those Osprey are either guarding that nest, or are in a standoff again - they haven't moved!
