Good morning to all So we did make the news! Thanks for the alert Jill. I've been checking cams and all the eaglets..everything looks ok this am in the nest - all but that MT one in WV lol! Headed over to emails and more cams!
Glo and Paula - thank you both so very much for all the time you spend creating the videos on your web sites for us to enjoy! It really keeps me updated.
Good morning all eagle watchers; glo, paula, jill, sharon and suzanne. I am embarassed to be just now on line at this late hour, I was hoping to get on early again this morning to see all the action.
Oh I forgot mema jo and jim. You all made it up before I did. Thanks Suzanne for the beautiful pics of the eagles making their two visits to the nest. I see it is MT now. They'll be back tho.
Morning, MemaJo and Candy. Our little osprey is all alone, has been all day. Haven't seen the other one yet. Hope our eagles come back for a visit this afternoon or evening. BW chicks are doing what they do best... sleeping. Well sleep and eat I guess they do best, but they're not eating at this moment in time. Star (think) is on eggs, looks like partial sun in Kent today. Two ospreys in WA nest. Looks windy there. Was just outside, wind is still blowing, but sun is out and no more flurries. Had slight flurries this morning, ugh! Looks cloudy now in WV. Hope we don't get any more snow. Back to the grind...
Our little osprey is bored, I think. Nobody to talk to all day, so he has been moving the sod around. It now looks like a puppy! This is too funny! We have 1 osprey and 1 sod puppy in the osprey cam... under some serious clouds coming, I think.
Oh see, I said that, and the little toot just moved and knocked it down! What's the deal with that??? And picture taking me, didn't take a pic! Dumb butt me!
Time for me to hit the road. All have a great eagle day! Hope the kids come back for an afternoon or evening visit. Hope our other osprey shows up sometime today! Bw chicks are playing hid in the shadows again. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Hey Suzanne, I have an Osprey nest right across from my house that has been there for years. I watch the mom and pop get the nest ready each spring, but can't look into the nest. I am looking from my deck and don't really see much of the babies until they are big enough to start to crawl around and flap their wings.
Morning Dana - Now just where did you get that pic? lol The article was good - Jill alerted us to her seeing it this morning in the paper. Thanks Steve for the links.
KateAZ is now an official Eaglet Momster on Yahoo! Welcome, Kate!
Kate is keeping her eyes on the CO eaglet and the egg she thinks is about to hatch!! I'm sure she'll alert us as soon as she sees it happen - we think there is a crack in it.
Thanks Steve for the two articles. Very nicely done. Welcome KateAZ to the momsters group. Well Jo, I certainly would love to put a cam up on my deck, but alas, it isn't high enough. Soooo I have to settle for watching from the deck. You have to look out and not get too close to the nest, as you don't want to get in the way of their poop shoots! :) I got quite a laugh when someone saw the eagles do that last year.
Good Morning all. I am getting a late start this morning. Maybe today will be the day. I feel like I'm working in labor and delivery. Paula is there any where on Catalina like a rangers station or science center I can go to learn more about the eagles there? Also Jo, what has happened to our three babes from last year? Do they stay around the nest? Have you ever seen them.?I'll be here off and on all day...
Dana I had read the articles and when I saw your new pic I realized how ON THE BALL you are, gal!!! I know you put the pink kitty somewhere on Recall....
Also Jo, what has happened to our three babes from last year? Do they stay around the nest? Have you ever seen them? Our eaglets don't get 'banded' so we really can't keep track of them. Hopefully in about 4 years, they will nest somewhere near & raise their families. They usually come back to their nearby home area. As for now - BigBoy, Inbetween and Spunky are soaring the unlimited skies and exploring the world! Eating lots of fish & turtles and growing stronger by the day! Also meeting lots of other eaglets and making friends!
OMG! Chubs is at the very edge of the nest, flapping his wings. Someone better tell him that he has to wait another 5-6 weeks before he's ready to take off!
Thank you Jo. You live in such a wonderful place to see wildlife out your back door. I have seen one wild eagle and one osprey in my life and both in Oregon. Paula I just got through to Pay Pal and ordered my sweatshirs and pictures.Once I got through it was easy. Thanks. I wanted it to wear to Alaska. I have to show off our kids.
Not sure how closely or how many have followed the Maine nest but they certainly do have a clue how those of us who love NCTC feel.
Wing has just posted to the Bioversity Blog: Nest Failure I have just confirmed that the birds have failed in this nesting attempt in a correspondence with Charlie Todd from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries Wildlife. An aerial survey was conducted on April 7th (as some of you noted) and the observers got a good look at the nest. They did not see any eggs in the nest.
The birds may have been tending to nonviable eggs from the beginning after the storm in March and may have buried the eggs in the nest. Charlie noted that this eagle pair now joins 99.9% of the other eagle nests in Maine with an imperfect breeding record.
The bird behavior in the last couple of days is characteristic of pre-laying behavior. In particular they have been sitting in an incubation position and copulating on the nest site. Charlie told me that captive eagles have renested 21 days after eggs were removed which is likely the least amount of time the birds would need. However, in the wild renesting in Maine is very rare. In the last 30+ years there have only been 4 documented
I honestly don't know Heidi like everyone else who has come across these eagle cams and folks who watch and grow to love them and certain pairs in particular i guess we will all learn this part together too.
I know that if there is still a chance to have a successful clutchin Maine in the next couple of weeks although rare, then an Eagle Pair such as our liberty and Belle still have hope too. They do have the advantage of a longer time before the harsh winter weather sets in for any ealgets fledged further south. This still gives me a ray of hope yet as I wrote to someone earlier this morning, if it doesn't happen very soon I would like to see them head off for a very well deserved vacation.
I had to go out unexpectedly and now that I am back I have read Glo's remarks from Wing on the Maine blog. So far I guess it is FL, WV and Maine that mother nature did not favor this season. Sad but that is how she works. Hey there, Steven! That was a very special compliment coming from you and I will graciously accept your words by putting a feather in my cap!
Thanks, Glo, for the info on the Maine nest....people on their forum have been suspecting as such, especially when the pair was mating yesterday at the nest....
So sad to hear that the snow storms have claimed another nest; Maine. I just checked in on BW and Norfolk and both sets of babies must have full stomachs, as they are fast asleep. AND now we wait to see if Liberty and Belle will grace us with their presence this afternoon.
My, my, our Mema Jo is an eagle expert now, determined by an official federal government employee! I am so proud!!!! I already knew it of course but Steven has it documented now. I love you, Mema Jo. I will be the eagle eye and you the eagle expert!
OK, its time. Most nights at this time I start to clean up my desk and computer to go home and here they come to make a visit. Its like my fairwell. I do take it personally. So I'm waiting. There is a storm rolling in from San Francisco and I'm glad it waited until last weekend was over. We will see if it will do anything or just sit there and promise.I will watch until 5:00 then it home. I'm beat. Hugs.
I missed it completely I think that was done just for you, AnneMarie! Go Home Now and Relax Knowing that Liberty and Belle said Good Night to you..............
Oh Jo, I was talking to my sister when I looked up and saw one then two there in the mist and dark. They weren't there that long then gone. Maybe they will come back. I could see them with their white heads and tails. That is the first I have seen them all day.
Candy: I save pics from the cam by Right click - Save image as - When the Save Image As block comes up I always have it set for my 2007 Eagles album that I created in MY Pictures program. Just be sure to save as a JPEG file.
I have contacted a head cold - sneezing & blowing my nose like crazy with my eyes watering. Going to sign off for now - I may come back on later to say good night. See you later, Candy...
Thanks for the tip Jo. Could you be suffering from allergies; the pollen is out. Whatever, I hope you have a restful night and are feeling better tomorrow. Thanks again for the tip.
heidigirl saw them at 7:51 and I saw them again at 8:08pm Mema Jo has now told me how to get the pic, so next time I'll have one for proof. Guess they aren't coming back tonight, so I'm calling it a night. Goodnight to all in "eagle land." The dawn brings a new day.
Good evening everyone. Just got home a few minutes ago. Think I will play solitaire for a few minutes and then go to bed. Will check back in before I go to sleep.
Good evening Sharon. I already signed off once, but I just finished watching the California eagle babies being put back in their nest; something very special to watch. So now I'll say good night to yu and mema jo (I see she checked back in and out) and I am with her in wishing Suzanne a very good Wednesday morning! She is always the early bird.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY EAGLET MOMSTER, PAULA HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU AND M A N Y MOOOOOORRRRRRREEEEE
Be VERY glad you can't hear me singing!!!
PAULA's birthday today, eaglet momsters!
Nice night out, 33° but doesn't seem that cold... no wind. Lots of stars on the way down, but cloudier here. Saw the very low, very orange moon, but not till I got to Leesburg. Looks like one of those pictures you see in kids' books, with the profile of the eye, nose and mouth. Kinda neat.
Our nest is MT, can peek through the blinds, but at least no spidey! BW chicks are sleeping next to each other, and the female osprey (I'm guessing here) is on the side of the nest. Too dark elsewhere still.
Off to create my daily new account so I can post, cause I want to say
Wow, just read the blogs from yesterday. Lots happening. Candy, we'll help you to install a cam "blind" on your deck to watch the ospreys. We'll be very stealthy about it! (And careful of the poop shoots.)
LOL, and yes, that was our eagle expert Jo who liked the poop shoots from last year. Congrats, Jo, on your well deserved title!! Nicely put about our kids from last year!
I'm so sorry to hear about the Maine nest. Nature sure gave us all a crushing blow this winter for the eagles! Other birds as well, I'm afraid!!
Jo, I hope you feel better soon! Hate to hear when folks get sick at this time of year. Take care of yourself, liquids and chicken soup!
Back to the grind, busy day today. (Yeah, so what else is new??)
Oh, osprey still sitting in same place, right of nest, all you can see if tummy and feet, mostly. Eaglets still snoozing, our nest still MT. Be glad when daylight comes and the blinds get opened!
Oh, before I forget, I saw both my male and female Downy woodpeckers at the feeders last night. Not at the same time, but the same day. I usually see one one day, and the other the next day. But last night the male was eating seeds from a hanging basket type feeder, then he left, and the female came. She attacked the suet in a basket, which is what the male normally eats. But it was so cool to see them both on the same day! I've seen them for a couple months, and was hoping they would meet and get together and have little Downy's so maybe they have, and there is a nest nearby. But I don't have any dead trees near my house, so I'm not sure where they are, but don't think they're far. Got so excited, stayed up past my bedtime to watch until they finished eating!
Ok, guys, wake up. Blinds are still down, she's early, so can't see real well, but can see the white head looking around! Think it's Belle, but can't see the body or tail.
Well, dang. Gone. But pretty sure it was Belle, she was kind enough to turn around and show me her profile.. of sorts. Only got a couple pics, that was a quick in and out.
Ok, looking back at the pics, I think that was Liberty. Right before take off, he went to his perch, then next refresh, gone. And he isn't nearly as long as Belle. Our little osprey is now in the nest, not on the side. Our black chicks are still snoozing, but you can see their black feathers coming in real well now. Not quite daylight, but it's coming, and the black shows up real well.
Anybody know, did the 2nd osprey join the first in the nest yesterday? I only saw the one all day!
Well, Lib and Belle have not been back yet, so maybe they're gonna come later in the day.
Sent Lisa an email and asked about the other part of our osprey pair, and someone else mentioned it to her also. Nobody saw him yesterday, so they're gonna keep an eye out for him today. I say him, not sure if it's a him or her in the nest, or the him or her that is AWOL. Sure hope nothing has happened!
PA falcon sitting pretty on eggs, BW chicks snoozing, they haven't had breakfast yet. Still dark out west.
Looking at the osprey in the nest now, from this view you can see his chest pretty well. So... it appears the male is in the nest, female is missing...
Just popping in to say, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAULA!!! Hope you have a great one! Have a great day everyone, off to play in the plants:) Hope that sun is coming out.
Suzanne, I get so much joy out of reading your morning blogs. You are so energetic for soooo early in the am. Keep up the good work on filling us in on the early mornings happenings.
MT nest! Weagles are gone for now, but will return for sure.

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the new thread Steve.
Good Morning, Eagleland!
Have a wonderful day!
Article in the Martinsburg Journal. www.journal-news.net.
Good morning Glo, Paula and Jill.
Thanks for the new thread, Steven.
Thanks for the heads up, Glo.
Morning Glo and Paula.
Kids were there this morning, you should have pics.
Article in the Herald Mail and WEPM.com. Same one basically.
Thanks, Jill, I'll go check it out.
Thanks, Jill! Nice article.
Nice closeup on the VA eaglets - they are really getting big!!
BW chicks are awake and walking around the nest... probably looking for leftovers.
GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY...
Paula, I'm wondering how soon Dr. Sharpe will be placing chicks back into the Two Harbors nest.
Also, do you think they will allow all the Catalina pairs to hatch their own eggs next year?
Jim
I don't know if they will let all of them do it next year or not, Jim.
I think he is shooting for Friday for the TH nest.
Good morning to all
So we did make the news! Thanks for the alert Jill. I've been checking cams and all the eaglets..everything looks ok this am in the nest - all but that MT one in WV lol!

Good Morning everyone
Yes you should go to the links Steve put on the front for articles in newspaper.
I was into doing some copying and paste from my newspaper. Came back in and seen where Steve put the links in.
Very good article Steve C. and Steve W. from NCTC.
Hope someone will contact you all to help sponsor although nothing was written in the paper about that.

Good Afternoon dears friends, May God richly bless you all today. B een Lurking and need to get serious and read up on blog. Be Back Much Later donna
Jo, I could not have said it better, you're an eagle expert now for sure.
She is standing up again at Colorado there is the little chick
Steven thanks for the picture you put in the Journal. As you can tell I am making "good" use of it.
Not sure how closely or how many have followed the Maine nest but they certainly do have a clue how those of us who love NCTC feel.
Wing has just posted to the Bioversity Blog:
Nest Failure
I have just confirmed that the birds have failed in this nesting attempt in a correspondence with Charlie Todd from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries Wildlife. An aerial survey was conducted on April 7th (as some of you noted) and the observers got a good look at the nest. They did not see any eggs in the nest.

Glo, is the lack of renesting in Maine because of the short season? I lived there for two years and believe me for a California gal its short.
I honestly don't know Heidi like everyone else who has come across these eagle cams and folks who watch and grow to love them and certain pairs in particular i guess we will all learn this part together too.

Thanks, Glo, for the info on the Maine nest....people on their forum have been suspecting as such, especially when the pair was mating yesterday at the nest....
Feeding at VA - eaglets are eating much bigger pieces!
So sad to hear that the snow storms have claimed another nest; Maine. I just checked in on BW and Norfolk and both sets of babies must have full stomachs, as they are fast asleep. AND now we wait to see if Liberty and Belle will grace us with their presence this afternoon.

I hear ya Eagle Eye.
Still see one chick and one whole egg in CO nest.
Looks like feeding time at CO nest
Checking the nest and still no birds. Come on little eagles.
I'm beat. Hugs.
Hurray, right on time..
By that was short and sweet. Just like my love life.
I missed it completely
I think that was done just for you, AnneMarie! Go Home Now and Relax Knowing that Liberty and Belle said
Good Night to you..............
Hugs JO. Off with the heels and pantyhose... Back tomorrow.

Have to go out for a few minutes. Somebody needs to wake up and take over for a bit.
If you guys don't wake up soon, I'm gonna sing Happy Birthday to Paula again!!! THAT'LL wake ya!!!
OOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKKK, who's up???
Somebody is home!
Lib on perch, just arrived.
BOTH IN NEST. Morning, Sharon! It's Paula's birthday today...
Oop, Lib left, Belle still there.
And there she goes...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR PAULA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU - AND MANY, MANY, MANY MORE!!!!!
I just sent out 4 different pics from this morning's visit. Thanks Suzanne for your pics.
You're welcome.
Clap, clap. Good singing. I can't carry a tune in a bucket, so glad noone heard me this morning!!!
Thanks for the pics, Sharon. I missed them coming back, had to go outside. You should send them to Steve too!
Just popping in to say, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAULA!!! Hope you have a great one! Have a great day everyone, off to play in the plants:) Hope that sun is coming out.
Thank God I didn't really have to sing that on the blog. You all definitely would have booed me off! Gong show!!
I sent those pics to Steve, Suzanne. Thanks for the suggestion.
Morning, Gang. Happy Birthday Paula. I won't even attempt to sing, either.
Sorry to hear about the Maine nest. We certainly learn a lot about nature by watching these nests.
Have a good day!
WEAGLE ALERT IN OUR NEST!
EAGLE ALERT!!!
NOW BOTH!!!
Oh, sorry Sharon, didn't see your post. And I forgot...WEAGLE next time...
Man, Lib likes to put his whole head in the egg cup, doesn't he?
Now Belle has her head in the egg cup.
Think they're sending secret messages to each other in there.
They sure are pretty!
BW eagle cam just went bonkers...
Good morning all. I am trying to put a Happy Birthday pic on here for Paula and almost missed the eagles arrival!
Is that Belle on the left?
They seem to be discussing today's plans! :)
Belle is on the left, yes, Lib is on the perch.
LOL, wish those plans included laying an egg!!!
I think it is Belle in the nest and Liberty on the edge. I love how her black feathers are crossing over on the white tail feathers.
I wish she would turn around.
New Thread opened, Good Morning
Jim
Just got a pic of Lib and Belle, and a blackbird on a branch. Brave bird.
They both look pretty dressed up today. Maybe it is a date for a late breakfast or just hanging out for getting to know eachother.
What's that white spot on Belle, on her mid to upper left back?
Good morning Jim. You are just in time.
It must just be a piece of "lint" on her spring coat. :) Well if that doesn't get all. Flew off under cover of dark screen.
Candy, think there is a new thread and everyone went over there. I'm heading there myself, see you overthere!
Suzanne, I get so much joy out of reading your morning blogs. You are so energetic for soooo early in the am. Keep up the good work on filling us in on the early mornings happenings.
MT nest! Weagles are gone for now, but will return for sure.
