STEVEN---I love BLUEBIRDS---But on this BEAUTIFUL day----Don't you think that maybe we COULD have an EAGLE OR TWO!!----Did you folks read that SEN. BYRD, WV & SEN. ALEXANDER, TN---have announced a resolution for American Eagle Day in Washington---Day would celebrate the recovery & restoration of the AMERICAN BALD EAGLE, the national symbol of the US.----COOL!!!
HI MITS---I always link blue birds to happiness???----That's an old song---ho!---Have you heard how many chicks there is at JR?---She needs a bigger apartment!!! ho!
At least our cam froze with an eagle on the screen!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE
Norma, I wish the panda cam would come on earlier because I think she is very active then.
Robyn & Wanda(CostumeLady) You are both from Martinsburg!! I had gone over to see your profiles. Thanks for placing some info about yourselves. PhyrFly I just realized to pronounce your ID as Firefly! Love your web site 'Things I see' We really can learn lessons from nature!
Thanks for the new thread, Steven. Were those bluebirds in the trees at our nest?
Thanks for the heads up Normabyrd!
What a good pic to have the cam freeze! Belle casts a large shadow, doesn't she? She looks so awesome standing there!
I'm doing a backup, and putting quite a bit of stuff on a CD, but little did I know that it would take forever, and TOTALLY slow everything down to a mini-crawl! Geesh, gonna be OT today trying to get this done.
I e-mailed to try and get a status on the Barton Cove eaglets after the nor'easter. Here's the good news...
Hi Kate, Without the cam, we are unable to see into the nest, and are unable to give an accurate assessment as to what is happening in the nest. The local folks watching the nest with binoculars have not noticed a change in the adults behavior. Bill
... So, if there hasn't been a change in the adults behavior, we can assume that either or both of the chicks survived the storm.
Morning all, now lets think of this in a positive way. We couldnt get her to sit in the nest long enough to lay an egg. Maybe freezing the cam will do it. She cant go anywhere. :)
Read the ME Blog today---They are certain the parents survived----It is not known where they are now---But they are going to keep the EAGLE CAM up & running so they can continue their research----
Good morning all. I just got back from having lunch and was soooo excited to think there was an eagle in our nest. No The cam is frozen again, but at least the eagle is frozen in time in the nest. Have to get back to work with the children. Will check in when I get home from school. Candy
Santa Cruz just had a down pour and Eagle sooks like a drowned rat. Talk about bed head. That is 3 hours away from me so I guess its headed my way. The rains this time of the year are from Hawaii not Alaska thank goodness.
I'm leaving early tonight. Headed to San Francisco to see Cats and then down to Monterey. Keep an Eagle eye out for me and I will be back Monday. Love to you all...
Two Harbors feeding both chicks, BW chicks sleeping, West End chicks taking a stroll under the eyes of their parents, Norfolk cam stays black (?) Santa Cruz sitting on babies, and our nest is still vacant. :(
I had that site on for the kids on another computer for our kids during center time in Kindergarten, and they were so excited to see them along with getting a glimpse of the eagles. Candy
I always loved the Eagle Spirits surrounding the nest to protect our eagle family - but tonight I didn't appreciate them because I couldn't see through them. I think our eagle has gone...but I can't be sure. Just know I can't see any white head or tail feathers.
When I first pulled up the cam page about 7 minutes ago, I thought there was something white in the nest,I don't see it anymore. Wish the cam was as clear as BW's at night.
Candy - in the winter months it's called Wind Burn Since Megan's time is mainly outside and this was the first beautiful sunny day that we've had, I was really just teasing about the sunburn. But she will be sure to get one tomorrow!
Maybe you might like to send me down some of that warmer weather. I'd love some. Saw a couple of tour buses here today and wondered if they were spending their hard earned money in this cool weather at the outer banks.
Yep, that's me. Actually, Jo is right, my nose is sunburned, cause I've been outside most of the day. Lots of mowing grass and tilling the garden. I don't have any annuals in the ground yet, still few weeks early. Lots of plants in the GH though.
Megan - I just saw Whatever That is cool. Candy - I was going to tell you that when you click on a person's name or picture - you go to their profile page. Then to come back to this blog you just click the green back arrow up on your menu. I clicked on Megan's owl before I posted so what I was saying was correct..that's is when I found her web site listed
You should have a section with all those photos of your flowers and the arrangements you've done. AND then of course you need your hummingbird pics! Summer is not going to be the best time for you to work on it, is it?
I want to try to add pics from the garden more regularly this year. Need to make some hummer food tomorrow, quite sure they will be in my yard any day now.
WIND BURN tan did you say? Hey Mits I'm living at the outer banks and it has been cool. I know the first part of the week the fishing boats weren't even going out. Does he fish off the shore? Some small blues were out there.
Candy, glad you are enjoying the pandas, they have quite the personalities...I love that you are watching them with the kids. Start at a young age, my Dad instilled a love of nature in us, even though we lived in the city.
I was just telling Jo and floralgirl that right now it is 46 here. I wore my winter coat to school today. Wind still coming out of the North, making it cool.
He is fishing off the beach. I watch the fishing boats go out of ocean city Maryland all summer long. I usually try to keep track of the wave action 20 miles out for my friend when he goes out in the summer.
I hope so too. It is nice for him to get a break. His wife is going out to San Francisco on Monday for the week on business, and, he will be in charge of Maggie.
I hope you all have a nice night and a good tomorrow. Nice talking to you Jo, Floralgirl and Mits. Mits, you keep those pandas in line, and I'll try to keep my kids watching. Good night all. Candy

Thanks MeMa Jo, things have gotten crazy for me the last year, and I have neglected it, but will start up again here soon.
Yes Normabyrd...The WVRRC is in Morgantown. I volunteer there once a week feeding the birds. It's pretty neat
I e-mailed to try and get a status on the Barton Cove eaglets after the nor'easter. Here's the good news...

Thanks Kate for letting us know the update. I get so disappointed in getting the blue screen.
That's a good thought, heidigirl!

BW is down at this time, I'm posting.
so quiet and peaceful at MAINE.
yep, they are now reporting on technical problems at BW, but they are working on it.....communication is a wonderful thing.:)
Weagle alert!
I wonder how long they visit the nest when they are not planning a family.
Same eagle still there ,interested in something in the nest.
I think she is eating. they both seem to bring food back to eat. Maybe they think its a dining room instead of a nursery.
Thanks for the weagle alert Megan!
Hopefully it is Belle fattening up!
Yes, thanks for the eagle alert. MY kids were watching and oh no, they are gone.
Very well could be a turtle she was working on. MT Nest. Short visits nowadays.
BtW what is that little thingy in the middle of the nest?
Think that I had best eat some lunch.
BBL
Yes, it might be a turtle Jo. My kids are still watching and wanted to know what it was.
Maybe be she went to get the next course.
We just turned it on as we are in centers and did at least see the eagle for a minute.
It looks like a turtle or a crab of some sort.
Turtle shell or small mammal, maybe.
Looks like Osprey is eating at BW. Battle over???
little white fluffs peeking out at james river bridge falcon nest:).
The Barton Island cam just came back on line. See e-mail I received:

WELL HOW CUTE ARE THEY???? Glad to see they made it thru the nor'easter.
BW is having power issues at the visitor center, but they think cams will be back on again soon.
NE off line again.
its ok, I have to completely shut it down then put it back up to continue.
I am watching the 2 babies in the NE/NU nest. They are so precious. What miracles they are!
Cams are stuck at BW at 2:20pm
BW's problem is at the visitor center, but is affecting their cams, Lisa hoped it would be fixed soon.
BW kids have a fish, but I don't think they're getting much nutrition from it!
oops. sorry, that's VA kids, not BW kids.
WEAGLE ALERT OUR NEST BELLE EATING!!!!!!

It's up and both chicks are visible.
Adult at NE just came in. 2 little bobble heads are very alert.

I thought there was food - but don't see any.
aren't they cuties...
going to fix dinner...BBIALW.
C'mon weagles it is time to come say good night to us....
Two Harbors feeding both chicks, BW chicks sleeping, West End chicks taking a stroll under the eyes of their parents, Norfolk cam stays black (?) Santa Cruz sitting on babies, and our nest is still vacant. :(
Hey Mits, how are you? I have spent some of my Easter Break watching your Pandas at the Washington Zoo. They are something else.
I had that site on for the kids on another computer for our kids during center time in Kindergarten, and they were so excited to see them along with getting a glimpse of the eagles.
Candy
Candy - you are going to get those youngsters hooked on nature! WhooHoo
Sometimes I wonder if their parents ever sit down with them to do things wit them or to find good things for them to watch on the computer.
It was as if they never saw any of the animals that I put on. I could sit with them and the birds and animals all day; they get such a kick out of it.
To me, that is what getting an education is all about!
Sunshine was great today! The evenings are staying light longer.
I love it!
Need to go to CVS before they close.
BBL
Eagle alert!
I guess they'll just need to close and I'll go tomorrow.
Still feeding on the leftovers in the nest.
Just one bird.
That is what it looks like.
Our cam keeps freezing
8:16:01pm
Now it is going.............GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!
Dang good thing that there is a white tail and a white head or else the eagle blends right in with the nest in the darkness.
We eeen a light on our nest.
White tail and whitle head. Alsmot invisible now
Is the bird still there Jo, or did he finally fly off.
No, I think he is still there.
Someone is still there. Head and tail visible.
Still there
I wonder what he/she is using the darkness to cover up? :_
I always loved the Eagle Spirits surrounding the nest to protect our eagle family - but tonight I didn't appreciate them because I couldn't see through them.
I think our eagle has gone...but I can't be sure. Just know I can't see any white head or tail feathers.
I think the nest is mt. I can't see anything anymore.
I'm with you Jo. They don't seem to visit for too long anymore and you'd like to see them when they do.
When I first pulled up the cam page about 7 minutes ago, I thought there was something white in the nest,I don't see it anymore. Wish the cam was as clear as BW's at night.
There was an eagle in our nest for quite awhile. The fog came in and blotted it out and it is finally gone/
Welcome Floragirl. It has just been Jo and I for awhile.
How is your sunburn, Megan?
Thanks, Candy. Good to be here. Hi Jo. Just came in from the garden about 30 min ago. What a beautiful day here today.
How does one get a sunburn in the winter months
You know - it is warm enough tonight that we just might see SPIDEY
Floralgirl, is your name Megan? Have you already planted your garden. It is still 46 here on the Outer Banks.
Candy - in the winter months it's called Wind Burn
Since Megan's time is mainly outside and this was the first beautiful sunny day that we've had, I was really just teasing about the sunburn. But she will be sure to get one tomorrow!
Jo did you say warm? I'm freezing down here. I wore my winter coat to school today.
Do you run a greenhouse or is it just for your own use?
Megan - I just saw Whatever
That is cool.
Candy - I was going to tell you that when you click on a person's name or picture - you go to their profile page. Then to come back to this blog you just click the green back arrow up on your menu. I clicked on Megan's owl before I posted so what I was saying was correct..that's is when I found her web site listed
My own GH, I grow plants and cut flowers and sell them at farmer's markets during the summer.
Thanks, Jo. It's a work in progress.
I can remember a greenhouse when I was a little girl and I used to love to go in and smell the flowers. You are sooo lucky
good evening everyone...it is still 60° here in Bethesda. my son is down in the outer banks fishing this weekend, he was hoping to get a tan.:):):)
Hello, Mits.
Floralgirl, do you get many hummingbirds? One year we had one that kept coming, but last year nothing.
How are you Megan???????nice to have you here...
WIND BURN tan did you say? Hey Mits I'm living at the outer banks and it has been cool. I know the first part of the week the fishing boats weren't even going out. Does he fish off the shore? Some small blues were out there.
Yes, I get lots of hummingbirds in my yard. I grow a lot of flowers that they love. Haven't seen one yet this spring, expecting to any day now.
In the time we have been talking our temp has gone back up to 64°.
I think they said on the radio today that our water temp is only in the 50's. I hope he catches some good ones.
Hey, big news! It is up to 54 here now. Maybe there is hope. :)
I hope so too. It is nice for him to get a break. His wife is going out to San Francisco on Monday for the week on business, and, he will be in charge of Maggie.
I've got a big fan on....sending warm air from the north.:)
Well, I hope he has a safe trip down, good weather and a safe trip back. Maybe he can bring the warm weather with him.
Thanks, now I can go and shut off our heat. :)
Well, I have school tomorrow as we canceled school this past Monday because of the bad storm. Sooooooo, I guess I had better get ready for tomorrow.
I hope you all have a nice night and a good tomorrow. Nice talking to you Jo, Floralgirl and Mits. Mits, you keep those pandas in line, and I'll try to keep my kids watching.
Good night all. Candy
I knew that temp was wrong....real temp is 54°

Paula - How did your shopping go last evening? You wouldn't be getting camera items to take on a trip - would you? YOU LUCKY DUCK - oops I mean EAGLE........ Go Girl!!!
The JAMES RIVER FALCON, "ELIZABETH", has a half-hatched chick sticking out under her wings----I love watching the falcon's eyes---She always appears to be flirting with you----COOL--
She is still in same spot...
Falcons have the most beautiful feathers, after the eagles of course. The eagles at Kent- great pics of their large feathers.
Between that and wedding stuff....lots of shopping to get done...
