We got almost an inch here in Loudoun, but looks like less in Shepherdstown. My friend Pete, in an email last night, reported 16" at his home in Maine.
Thanks for the new thread alert, GLO and Good Morning Early Birds I see that Steven did change the pic to one from last evening-keeping an eye on things - Steve is right there with us! CO FT St Vrain says on 4/6:It won't be long now. We expect an egg to hatch this weekend. Sharon Hope you picked all the daffodils last night! Dana thanks for the pics from this morning. Missed you yesterday - hope all is well. Paula So very glad we didn't wake up to snow!
Easter Sunday they will foster the WE chicks - no clue on what time yet. Might miss that depending on the time, but I am sure they will video it for us.
Good Morning family, just checking in between potato salad and coleslaw. I was up too late and can feel it this morning. Clouds over the Sierras. I can see them from my kitchen window. They better not even try to come west until tonight. My older grand daughters came over last night and helped me get Easter Bunny things in order. Everything is in the car but food and I'm not quite ready yet.Have a beautiful day all . I'm be back tonight. Anne-Marie
Just checked Accuweather for Norfolk. Looks like they will have to endure the nasty weather until about 1:00 this afternoon. Hopefully it will be sooner. They look so miserable.
OH, I saw on TV this morning, the baby polar bear abandoned by his MOm in Germany, the one the animal rights people wanted to put to sleep, has become very popular in Germany, much like Tai over here. His name is Knut. They have registered the name as a trademark, etc, making stuffed animals, candy etc named after him. 15,000 people a day come to the zoo to see him.
Yep, Jo, thats Tai on #2, we all had a trace of snow to cover the ground, but it was enough for him to have fun with this a.m. I've only seen the CC juvies branching, so far, but haven't taken the time to read anything on their site....Tee-Hee, snow on the ground and people are mowing their lawns here.
Mema Jo - Thank you. I'm glad to be here. I watch a lot but don't post too much. I have a hard time getting logged in sometimes. I was here last year and am praying that ours will have babies again.
I'm not having any problems so far with VA...Mom is doing a fine job of tenting there. But, NE I'm having problems, runs for a little while then goes Blue, must go thru Denver:).
I did delete two comments-sorry the link I was trying to bring over from IWS forum just didn't work. Jo is referring to the eagle puppet hand feeder picture. So as not to imprint on the minds of the young eaglets when they are able to see, the biologists use an eagle puppet to feed the chicks.
You can see Dr Sharpe using the eagle hand puppet here -
I was watching the VA cam the other day and the fish that Mom brought back was still alive. The chicks would try to peck at it and when they did, the fish would flop around. Finally Mom stepped on it with her big talons. Did you all see it? The chicks were funny.
Eagle NOT nesting in Maine. Can someone tell me how to find the actual blog for the Maine site? I can find the biologist reports from Wing - just can't find the comments since they put up the new page..... thanx
Serena, if you should get on again, I always have trouble logging in, so I go to the place where it says to sign in . It takes me back to the eblog, where it says to log in the old blog. I log in using my proper code that won't work on this place and then come back here and am logged in.
I don't know if that makes any sense, but I can never log in on this site.
Missed them again. :( Just went to have supper and missed them. Good you saw them Mitts. I was beginning to wonder if they wouldn't show today after tomorrow.
An eagle (or another one) was in this tree (http://www.pbase.com/cp8800/image/76807655) both of the last two days. It's in the stand of trees past the osprey cam. Yesterday I was walking down the road and was looking over the field behind the osprey cam because I've seen a northern harrier hunting there more than once. As I'm looking to the right the eagle flew right in front of my field of vision totally unexpected and all I got was a shot of eagle butt. Today, I spotted the eagle from a distance. After the turn in the road past the osprey cam you can no longer see that tree until you get further down the road past another tree that sticks further out. Yesterday he took off after I got past that tree. Today as I quietly approached he took off before he was in my field of vision. More shots of eagle butt.
Around the same area there were half a dozen or more little blue and white swallows. I don't know if I was near a nesting area or they were just playing around but they were flying all around me just several inches away at times. They're so darn quick and so close I couldn't get a decent shot. I posted the best one (not so good) which also happened to be the very last one I took of them (of about 50).
The female osprey on the cam platform was dining with the male looking on. She seemed very nervous about protecting her food. They both kept looking around. Other smaller birds were flying by. Eventually she took off with the leftovers and ate in a nearby tree.
The osprey in the platform that is very close to the road does not seem as comfortable as the pair from last year. The last couple of weeks I've only seen one on the platform. When someone gets close it flies over to the nearby snag. If you walk down to the snag it flies back to the platform. You'll see a shot with it's butt in the air. I'm guessing it was molding the egg cup like you mentioned in a blog. I don't see a necklace on the one I shot yesterday.
OH, thanks for sharing those pics, Bob. They are beautiful. The eagle butt shot is interesting, you really get a good look at his wings. It looks like the bird is headless.

Good Morning Steve Thanks for the new thread. happy Easter to you and yours.
Please get Spring there as quickly as possible.
Norfolk very windy, poor Mom has hard time keeping those chicks covered....makes it hard to watch, plus the video keeps "freezing" (no pun intended)
Yup, really sucks to have snow on the day before Easter here in DC area....
Our nest looks quite good, actually.
Oh, and blue screens at NE. Wonder if they will have an Easter day hatch?
Thanks for the new thread alert, GLO and Good Morning Early Birds

Dana thanks for the pics from this morning. Missed you yesterday - hope all is well.
Paula So very glad we didn't wake up to snow!
BW Mom checking on her sleeping chicks and the Osprey cam is ok now.
Wobbly little eaglet at NE is getting breakfast :)
Must be a zillion fish at the NE nest :)
NE Cam is UP Mom is off chick and egg. I think she is eating..
Good news is NO SNOW IN THAT NEST!
Mema Jo is the earlybird today.
No snow in Martinsburg. Flurries, no accumulation.
WEAGLE IS WADDLING DOWN at NE
I am up early.. How about that.. I had a good talking to myself last night about this sleeping late mode!
OH MY Spring were art thou???
Snow coming down on Norfolk - eaglets too large to tent over so looks as though they are huddled head first up against the breast of the adult.
Good Morning Jill in Martinsburg .No snow here in Middletown.or Frederick.
PAULA What's the most recent word on Dr Sharpe's visit back to WEnest? Someone mentioned Easter Sunday a possibility. I best go visit their forum..
GOOD SATURDAY MORNING, EAGLE LOVERS...
DID SHEPHERDSTOWN GET ANY PRECIPITATION LAST NIGHT? IT'S OBVIOUS AT BW, FOR EXAMPLE.
SO CAL IS COOL, FOGGY GRAY, BUT LITTLE PRECIPITATION (DAMP FROM THE DEW) THIS MORNING. [DESCRIBES ME TOO, COME TO THINK OF IT].
JIM
Easter Sunday they will foster the WE chicks - no clue on what time yet. Might miss that depending on the time, but I am sure they will video it for us.
BW eagle cam looks like a 1952 L.A. TV channel as seen at our place in N. San Diego.
Jim
NE cam off and on this morning. Presently Blue Screen.
Oh my! I see what you mean now, Jim. Snow probably covering the transmitter and/or solar panel.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE, THIS WAS TO BE A MORE COASTAL STORM DEVELOPING OFF THE MID-ATLANTIC, THEREFORE EASTERN SHORE WHERE BW NEST IS, WAS EXPECTING 2 TO 4 INCHES.
Paula-You're right. I'm having a hard time watching the Norfolk cam too. Poor things!
Thanks Steven for new thread. I pray all will have a blessed Easter.
Hi Glo,Paula,Serena,Jo,Jim,Anne,Mits and Sharon (somewhere from other thread) sure she didn't get lost.
The eagle in Maine keeps liking at the camera. Their due 4/9 but don't know if viable.
I've tried NE but stays awhile then turns blue. So glad someone got to see chick.
Colorado is due today or tomorrow.
And wouldn't you know it ... the "blue cloth" that Teddy brought into Osprey nest in Conn. is gone. I was afraid it would blow away.
Just checked Accuweather for Norfolk. Looks like they will have to endure the nasty weather until about 1:00 this afternoon. Hopefully it will be sooner. They look so miserable.
NOrfolk is still working on their cam
BW is back in full color...looks like the older chick has turned totally black since late last night. Fast growers.
Did anything interesting occur this morning at this site?
Jim
Does anyone know if the Cape Coral eaglets have yet taken their first flight?
Yea, Jim. SNOW!!
If that is Tai on Panda Cam 2 - he is growing fast! I guess it is Mei sleeping out on the concrete walk in the yard.
Good morning, Serena. I've not been on the blog when you were - so WELCOME! Glad to have you with us.
OK - off to the kitchen and then off to the dusting.......Family coming here Sunday.
BBL

Can't tell who that is on #1 cam, don't know if Mei has been let out in the yard since her procedure, she was still indoors all day yesterday.
Mema Jo - Thank you. I'm glad to be here. I watch a lot but don't post too much. I have a hard time getting logged in sometimes. I was here last year and am praying that ours will have babies again.
Hi Serena and welcome again, we all have problems with this blog sometimes.
I think the nasty weather is finally stopping in Norfolk.
The back lash of this storm at Cambridge and Norfolk is cold and windy.
Hi Mits - and thanks. If I can't get logged on, I'll still be here watching.
MOrning Serena - and Welcome!!
Good morning Paula-thanks!
Wish VA would either shut it off or fix it!!

Snowing at the Zoo, and Tai is snoozing.
My VA cam is freezing up every couple of seconds...your's isn't Mits?

My shot of VA is the same as it always is, very windy and chicks alone now.
Maybe I have too many cams up :-O
VA cam is working on my end. Babies are awake and waiting for lunch.
good article re: the eagles hatching at Channel Islands.
going to wide shot at VA
Awww, VA eaglets all huddled together...
Mom is back at VA.
had my VA up all a.m., took it down, put it back up and know it is hesitating. but stopping on some great shots:).
I was watching the VA cam the other day and the fish that Mom brought back was still alive. The chicks would try to peck at it and when they did, the fish would flop around. Finally Mom stepped on it with her big talons. Did you all see it? The chicks were funny.
No, I missed that Serena, but I think some others here saw the chicks trying to feed themselves. I'll bet that was funny!
Sorry I missed that one, Serena, bet that was funny:).
Snow is melting quick at BW
Checked out morning daily pics at CO
No chick as of 11:14am MT time.
NE cam is up but some lines in it.
Eagle nesting on eaglet & egg(?)
Eagle NOT nesting in Maine.
Can someone tell me how to find the actual blog for the Maine site?
I can find the biologist reports from Wing - just can't find the comments since they put up the new page.....
thanx
Well, back to the kitchen....
Neither can I, Jo.
Jo, go to the end of Wing's message on blog and click on the comments, takes you right to a blog like ours.
JO, YOU HAVE MAIL
Got It Thanks
cicks at VA are resting with mom by their side.
MT NEST up in MAINE again.
Bluefield got about 6 inches of snow I think.
I can't get on the NE cam.
wow, what a nice easter gift, where is the bunny going to hide his eggs, Sharon? NE has been hit and miss all day for me.
He can hide them under the snow, Mits!!
Think there is more snow/sleet/rain at Norfolk.
There sure is plenty of snow to hide anything under! I think I am going to take a nap now. BBIALW!
VA chicklets are snugged up together sleeping :)
Wonder if that's fog or rain making everything dark at our nest?
It's still pretty overcast and gray in So. Cal. today too.
Jim
It is cloudy here. No rain, no fog. Could be fog on the river tho. I suspect it is just the overcast day making the nest dark.
Thanks, Jill...that's probably what it is.
Jim
Hey there Jill and Jim. Just checked in to find nothing on our nest.
I guess thee hasn't been anyone there all day today, from reading the blog.
Watching the VA chicks, what a hoot they are, all laying there one is pecking the other and he wraps his wing around the other to make him stop.
WEAGLE IN OUR NEST!
Both there now!
WOKIE-DOKIE
LOOKS LIKE LIB
A BLACK BIRD IS ANNOYING HIM
BLACKBIRD LEFT
just sitting, not doing anything
thought that was a take-off position
nice to see them, bet they will be back
Missed them again. :( Just went to have supper and missed them. Good you saw them Mitts. I was beginning to wonder if they wouldn't show today after tomorrow.
I mean after yesterday.
It seems as if the nest is getting higher, but smaller inside. Do you think so??
It really does look that way doesn't it...the sun has finally come out up there at the nest.
Beach Mom - They were in the nest early this morning.
Great pic at VA - all 3 eaglets sleeping together and Mom sitting right behind them...
EAGLE ALERT
OUT NEST
see that pretty weagle
One lonely wittle weagle
is that Bell?
YAY finally got to see one of them. Missed them the last couple of days.
You think anyone else is coming?
Watching something really close
looks like hear is turning, looking for him
I am not sure - might be only half right if I say Belle......because it could be Lib! lol
should be HEAD
I think this weagle is Belle!
Something keeps getting her attention over her right shoulder
Get ready for a 'fly in'
Nothing black screen ARGHHHHHH
I think our visitor is not the one who lays the eggs!!!
I could be wrong..
UH OH Looks like somebody is ready to take off again.
Does look smaller now that it is standing up.
JILL Black screen every once in a while means 'refreshing'
Or maybe he was keeping the nest warm for her.
Could be the black birds down there
On second look, the weagle may be Lib! Looks much smaller standing there.
yep, does look smaller.
He's watching for something. Maybe the Easter bunny is bringing the egg soon.
gone.....
MT nest!
Somebody came in on that refresh
back
Working on pictures for Momsters.
now that is Belle, right??
Looks skinny but hard to tell from this angle
EAGLE BACK IN NEST
I think this one is Belle!
going to eat dinner now...bbl.
I say it was Liberty that just left and Belle that just came in
I can't tell, my screen is darker than most and the eagle is blending with the nest.
Mits - Sharon I know you 2 are getting pics - I am working on the album and watching..........
IS that two or a wing spread?
Both Beautiful Eagles in their nest
Thought so. And of course now I get half a screen. I can't get lucky.
You can tell for sure now as to which one is which... no questions asked!
That was fast
Wrong one in the egg well again....
Didn't get to see both of them together. I can usually tell but it is hard at this time of day with my dark screen and the shadows.
How long do they usually stay at the nest in the evenings? This is the longest I have gotten to see them. They usually fly away when I log on.
My screen was frozen for about 6 secs - anyone else notice it......I
see Liberty is moving again!!
Time is just wrong.
Gone now.
Jill they are sometimes there until almost 8:00.
And back again!
well I can't get on the cam at all now....ERROR 503...whatever that is.
I'm back on, but I think cam is stuck:(:(.
finally after about 6 mins it refreshed weagle is gone.
As promised:

Sorry for the long post.
Bob
Post away, Bob, we love hearing about BW and all its wonderful birds, Thanks for the pictures:). We love looking at them too.
Hi Bob That is an excellent photo of the blue & white swallow. However, where is the one of the eagle butt?????
Mits The cam, at least mine, is off about 6 min. It did freeze up just before Liberty took off.
OK, glad I'm not the only one, Jo, not finding the butt photo. BOB, your pics look like paintings sometimes soo clear.
oh, ok, Jo.
Ha ha! I didn't think anyone would want to see the eagle butt shot. I went back and posted it:

Bob
looks like a stealth bommber, BOB, I like it
OH, thanks for sharing those pics, Bob. They are beautiful. The eagle butt shot is interesting, you really get a good look at his wings. It looks like the bird is headless.

Here comes Peter cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail....
HIPPTY-HOPPITY EASTERS ON ITS WAY...AND IT IS HERE, HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE
just saw chick at NE, still 1 egg left, might be trying to hatch, Mom was sitting back down, fish everywhere.
A VERY VERY HAPPY EASTER MORNING TO YOU ALL...
The BW eagles must be having an extra special breakfast today... I count 5 fish of different varieties all laid out in buffet fashion....
Bon appetite.
Jim
probably having some family over, Jim
I believe the BW chicks are being enticed into feeding themselves this morning...probably why so many fish so close to the young ones.
Jim
Peter Cottontail has arrived to let you know a new thread is up....
