new update from Lisa on the BW Ealge log about the cam situation...bad solar panel, sending away for new one in overnight shipment, asking for patience if it goes down again...some new pics of the eaglets also.
I think the lighting and shadowing at this time of day makes the nest bed look in more disarray then it actually is. Look at the pics on Momsters for today that were taken around 5:00 - Nest looks fairly ok. Hit the slideshow of the album
Sharon I would assume by looking at the MAINE video when she laid an egg, that they have to concentrate on what they are doing and I bet they grunt and push a little! How she knows ahead of time that the egg is ready - I have no clue!
Sharon Guess What - they could hatch soon: The eagles have begun incubation of their second egg which was first sighted the morning of March 4. The first egg was laid the afternoon of February 28, which was a week earlier than any previously recorded egg at the Barton Cove nest. If the 35-day incubation period goes well, we can expect the first egg to hatch around April 4, with any other eggs hatching in the same time interval in which they were laid.
I remember her being snow covered for a day or two just like Belle. I hope their eggs hatch! That's our heart shaped nest! I remember how the mom keep feeding the large over grown eaglet last year and how he had to fight off the black birds... lol
There should also be chicks at the Ft.St Vrain CO nest soon: Mother eagle continues to care for and sit patiently on her eggs. We expect them to hatch around April 7 and 8. We're going to be busy chick watching! I'd rather be egg watching!
Dana, I don't think that Sandra has been on the blog for 2 days. She had taken her mom to the hospital. Not sure how long of a stay. Tom gets surgery on his knee mid April. If I can find her comment couple days back I'll email to you. Been praying for her and family.
I have just read Lisa-BW Eagle's Update.. She is something spectacular in her writings. So interesting and so many visual aids to help you understand things.
Well its time for me to turn this comuter off and go home. I will check in later. I cant wait to get pantyhose and heels off. Thanks everyone for your comments. Sharon, I'm a farm girl and I know chickens get a pressure feeling when they are going to lay and head for the straw. Maybe other birds have the same thing. The eggs are laid soft then harden with in a few seconds. By for now.
Hi all. Just checking in for a minute after reading all the blogs. It sounds as if you all had a very exciting day in eagle land between all the eagles and the downed cameras. I tried to get into our nest at school and couldn't. Glad to hear it is up and working now. You posted a nice pic Suzanne. Nice to see them in the nest together. Also a big congrats to normabyrd and her new grandson. You must be soooo excited. I do hope you have a safe trip to Fla.
Hope you all have a good night and a eggy laying day tomorrow; cup making might mean eggs to follow. It would be a wonderful Easter gift.
Good evening dear friends, I may have ridden the short bus on this, but can someone answer for me???? Does B elle still have fertile eggs to lay? Will they have to be inseminated again for the eggs to hatch or did the mating which took place take care of eggs she could lay now. Just wondering. If she can just lay us one little fertile egg I will be a happy Momster. Gonna watch the Fla Ohio game. We may be getting Billy Donovan for a coach at UK. Prayers for all those who are sick or suffering. Love donna
Pictures of the first known natural hatch of bald eagle chick on Catalina Island since 1945!!! This is a picture of the Pinnacle Rock nest on Catalina Island, CA. This nest is not on the internet. Mom is in the nest with two chicks, hatched March 31 and April 1.
Mauley, As far as I know, fresh sperm would be needed to fertilize any new eggs. They can hold the sperm for a period of time, I believe it is up to 2 weeks if she doesn't have eggs ready. So a new round of successful mating would have to occur for Belle to lay more eggs.
Those 2 chicks at the Pinnacle Rock nest aren't going to fall out as deep as it is. I would think that this is something to be very excited about - I hope that SC also has their egg hatch. Maybe the waters are starting to clean up out there.
How do you go about seeing the Maine cam nowadays? I have their new link and see their new home page..I can't find the forum from their viewers to know what is happening. I found the Blog with the scientific reporting - that's not what I want. Also - I can't get the cam up but I thought they had the infrared vision at night.... Somebody straighten me out!
Hey there Mits and everyone else. I was just checking around the other sites and then back to Shepherdstwon and saw that huge thing over the pic. Glad I checked back in the blog, as I found out it was our friend the spider. :( I sure hope it isn't as big as it looks!
Thanks Paula, I was afraid so. I really thought that would have to happen. I just hope our parents can cycle again this year. It is very encouraging to watch the nestorations, but I afraid to to get up too much excitement now. If we havve to wait till next season, okay with me. I love them anyway, I am enthralled with the other cams and nests, but this is the nest and Belle and Lib erty are the ones I hold so dear to my heart. Thanks for info. donna
on Saturday's update of Maine, they said it would take a few days for the live stream to start working, although it has worked on and off the last couple of days, doesn't seem to be working now.
I thought the sky looked stormy, too, mema jo. AND isn't it time that someone did get the spraycan out and get that spider? Hopefully he won't stay on there too long.
I am thinking the lens of the camera isn't very big but has a wide angle to view the nest. Therefore if little spider were to crawl onto the lens he would look much bigger than he is. Or else you people in Shepherdstown grew really huge spiders and I would appreciate it if you woudl keep them in Jefferson County.
Teddy and Edith at Baartons Cove Conn. are doing fine. Teddy like moving the white paper around this morning. Actually to the nest cup and layed down on it. I guess sizing it up for his lady.
Was checking in on all the sites this morning and I guess VA is down and the fog is so thick this morning in Maine that you can not see the nest or the camera has been moved. I think it is the fog.

Thanks Steven for the new thread. I just invited everybody over.
She sure has been in the nest for a while this afternoon. Maybe she will spend the night? More will be revealed!
Thanks for the new thread, Steve. Would be even prettier with an egg in that nest!!
Looks like were are going to finish up that snacky-poo.
Absolutely nothing more heart warming then seeing "Our" eagles in this nest!!!
Thank you Miss Sharon:):):).
Now let's see some squawking and setting!!
As I said in old thread, I have some pics of this visit...will send later.
Jim
LOL Yes it is nice to see isn't it. been there for a while now. Its a beautiful sight.
Still just sitting in nest....facing about 6...was checking out the leftover, may have had a bite or two,,,,but pretty much sitting and looking around
She may be thinking "should I lay one now, or should I finish the baby's room first."
Jim
Yes, I want Belle to bring me eggs for easter - not worried about the Easter Bunny.
No change.
She's been there about an hour and a quarter, mostly waiting; so (except she hasn't dug an egg cup) she could be getting ready to lay again.
Jim
Man, the whole site just went down for me.
Now I lost the NCTC SITE altogether...how about you?
Jim
Heading home and to son's for dinner...have a great evening...
Cam's back and she's digging in the nest cup area!
Jim
Either she left or I am blind. As soon as I read that she had been there I went to the camera but nobody home
Belle flew the scene.
Jim
SHE'S GONE..
Shew, thought I was losing it for a second. LOL
lol...Jill, your not losing it.
cute pic at VA, largest chick is sitting right next to mom.
and she moved...lol.
Wow sounds like I missed alot of MESSED UP CAMS PICS ON NCTC .
Our nest looks like someone from comments Belle. Has been working on the egg cup. Seems alot grasser in there.
They've dug it up enough now that, if they don't start another clutch, they could plant potatoes or a vegetable garden...hahaha.
Jim
I was just thinking that it looked a little messy!
Is that a "critter" in the next?
See Norfolk finally made it up sometime today. Chicks look fed and spaced out nicely to cool themselves resting.

Question - do birds have contractions when they are laying eggs?

Thanks Mema Jo. Did NE/NU momma have 2 or 3 eggs? Does anybody know?
NE - Barton's Cove 2 eggs as far as I know.

Dana The old site of NE/NU
They keep renaming it. I call it Barton's Cove since I now know where it is.....

Dana, it's the one in
Massachusetts
Thank you Jo Now have you heard from Sandra about her Mom and her husband??
yep, Co should be having some Easter weekend chicks, I hope:).
So much for watching my hometeam, Orioles, back to back homeruns against our so-called best pitcher. Going to watch something else and do laundry.
Dana, I don't think that Sandra has been on the blog for 2 days. She had taken her mom to the hospital. Not sure how long of a stay. Tom gets surgery on his knee mid April. If I can find her comment couple days back I'll email to you.

Dana, Jim, AnnMarie, Sunny
Were you all talking about Kent nest... I left for 10 min - did I miss anything at OUR nest?
Yes Jo it was our nest. I really dont watch any other or I would never get anything done. I feel guilty as it is. By again.
I missed the last visit, don't know how but I did. I really do wish she would spend the night!
Heidigirl, thanks for the info about the egg-laying. I am not a farm girl!
The eagle spirits are growing so much that you can't see anything of the nest at night...
Looks like there will be no eggs laid here today.
Everybody have a great evening.
Jim
You too Jim!
I have 5 great shots of the last visit from Jim... placing into Momsters album.
I need to leave for an hour or two.. BBL
CU LATER, JIM...
Here comes Spidey!!!!
I really hate spidey.....

I would like to know just how large is Spidey... I hope the lens makes him look larger then he is....lol
Whenever I see spidey, just think I'm watching a horror movie. The Spider from Sheperdstown....hey, might be a cute kids book:).

Well, Hello Mits
Paula, did 2 of the WE eggs also hatch...?
Spidey is much much better on the "live feed"
Mauley,
As far as I know, fresh sperm would be needed to fertilize any new eggs. They can hold the sperm for a period of time, I believe it is up to 2 weeks if she doesn't have eggs ready. So a new round of successful mating would have to occur for Belle to lay more eggs.

WOW osprey still at Osprey cam.
BW eaglets sleeping.
Spidey is BACK!
eeewwww....someone get the spray.
Thanks Paula, I was afraid so. I really thought that would have to happen. I just hope our parents can cycle again this year. The Maine cam is black to me tonight too. Either it is out or they have no night vision.
on Saturday's update of Maine, they said it would take a few days for the live stream to start working, although it has worked on and off the last couple of days, doesn't seem to be working now.
just a beautiful sky at KENT.
Mits, to me it sorta looks like a stormy sky on cam 1 in Kent
Spidey has full exposure - all eight legs in view!
I thought the sky looked stormy, too, mema jo. AND isn't it time that someone did get the spraycan out and get that spider? Hopefully he won't stay on there too long.
He covers almost the whole lens on the camera. I would rather see the nest, thank you.
Oh well, it looks as if he is there for the night. Check in on you all tomorrow. Good night all.
Good night Carolina Beach Mom.
I'll check back to sign off in about an hour......
That's what makes it so beautiful and interesting looking at KENT. Sky doesn't have to be blue to be pretty:):).
Yup, Jo, 2 of the West End chicks hatched too! Guess they will be put in the nest after Easter or right before. Haven't heard yet.
Osprey still at Osprey cam....
BW chicklets are all over the nest!
Spidey butt still on our cam.
Good Night All
Prayers being said for all
Good Morning Suzanne
Good Morning Suzanne.
Beautiful day suppose to be today.
Liberty just flew in
He is at nest cup and boy does he look small compared to Belle.
Belle you have mail.....it says will you please soon lay an egg or two.
Suzanne the male at PA is standing out on the end of the long wooden rail.
Coming light at Fort St. Vrain Colorado. Can see eagle. The should have a hatch soon.
NE has the "blue virus"
Teddy and Edith at Baartons Cove Conn. are doing fine. Teddy like moving the white paper around this morning. Actually to the nest cup and layed down on it. I guess sizing it up for his lady.
Norfolk VA offline now screen all black. Probably working on it.
Both eagles at Colorado in nest.
I let you know if I see a chick or eggs.
Was checking in on all the sites this morning and I guess VA is down and the fog is so thick this morning in Maine that you can not see the nest or the camera has been moved. I think it is the fog.
Male just left at Colorado Fort St. Vrain. Female hasn't moved. Don't know yet if still eggs or chick.
Oh Teddy is so cute. Love that nest site osprey in Conn. Off he flys.
Morning Camsgrammy yes I did have earlier the VA site. Chicks were all well. Then it went down.
Morning Suzanne Dana and Cam's granny. Thanks for new information and comments. Have a blessed one. donna
Good morning everyone. Our camera isn't looking so good right now I hope it doesn't go down again. Sure is good to see Lib and Belle in the nest.
Morning Mauley
Dad just flew in at Colorado. Mom on eggs looking up at Dad like "honey it should be soon the little one hatches".
Dad flew out of Colorado maybe he'll bring food back for Mom.
