Be sure to read the BW Osprey weblog and look at the video Lisa took yesterday of one of the attacks, which have been disrupting things for the pair on the nest.
I guess it is good afternoon to all eagle watchers out there. I've come back from church and eating breakfast and headed here first thing to see who was still sitting on the osprey nest.
I sure hope Jo in going to have a safe trip up to New York, as here in N. Carolina, we are having downpours and some good winds. I hope she is traveling inland and not along the shore. She'll be in my prayers for a safe journey.
Well that sounds good, Jim. Maybe the egg laying can commence. I thought that 30 second intervals on our nest cam was a long wait until I watched this cam with 60 seconds. Like you said, so much can happen. Candy
I see where they are going to be banding the eagle babies in Norfolk on Tuesday am between 8:30 and 9:00. You all might want to watch. I'll be in school, but will try to watch too.
BW Osprey... I believe she left to get food and came back with food and the male. The strange blurs are associated with him flapping his wings, and I think he is still there, perched on the camera (and occasionally blurring the picture).
I haven't seen signs of the other female, but she could be just off cam.
Ok, I thought that maybe they were starting up again. Did you see Liberty and Belle visit our nest just a little while ago? They didn't stay long; just looked around here and there and then one flew off after the other. Candy
Dear Friends, Nasty weather here in se KY as well, Traveling mercies up for Mema Jo. I wouldn't be surprised if our Lib and Belle decide to forego family raising this season. Lots to look forward to on other cams, though, none like ours. Have a good one. donna
They are both there, jill. One of them was snuggled up tight against mom. Saw them earlier against the tree trunk, always makes me nervous to see them at the edge of the nest.
Looking again, maybe the nest is empty. I thought it had four sides on it and now I see it doesn't. So on the right side might just be darkness at the edge of the nest.
I give up. The light keeps changing places every 60 seconds and I am starting to feel like I am going crazy. Now I don't see anything; just the changing lights. Maybe someone can tell me what it is tomorrow night. Candy
Could be the wind moving the light and or camera at BW. The wind up there is horrific according to family in DE. Nobody on the nest either best I can tell. Poor thing probably couldn't stay on the nest the way the wind is blowing. Windy in Martinsburg too but not as bad as farther east.
Just came in from work again. That wind is wicked out there. And east of here it is supposed to be worse. No wonder everybody is hunkered down for the night. Hope I dont' have to go out again.
Good Monday morning, eagle world. The word for today is WINDY! It is wicked out there!! Very windy. All the flags are straight out! And driving down here was like driving through an obstacle course! Be careful of the branches, trash, trees, and whatever else is gonna blow down. Eagles or ospreys should have no trouble today finding building material!
Sorry to hear we lost our first osprey egg! This is not a good year for raptors!
Will try to read at least yesterday's blog, see what I missed.
All have a great eagle day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Good morning Suzanne and welcome to another week. I see you made it thru Friday the 13th ok and the weekend storm. We missed you. I was prepared to go into school today and was called around 5am to be told that school was cancelled for my area today because of bad winds. Sooo that means we'll have to make it up this Saturday. :(
Just checked into the BW osprey nest and it sure looks as if someone is starting to build up the nest and getting ready to make a new home for themselves.
Wow, just read Lisa's update on the osprey page! Now we have a Monica osprey! Geesh, what's the deal with these female raptors? Get your own man!! What a shame about the egg. Sure hope our osprey couple can get rid of the intruding female, and get down to business and lay another egg or two! BW chicks are still sleeping, think that is Lord BW in the nest with them. Osprey nest is MT, and has been so guess nobody spent the night. Our nest is MT, somebody please open those blinds! Oh, Lord BW is awake.
Hi Candy, if you're still here. I'm not used to folks being up this early, so I usually do my initial post, then get some things done. Hardly ever go back and check! The winds are terrible out there, someone just came in and said they are saying on the radio 60 mph gusts! I knew it was bad, just didn't know how bad! Trees are down here around 495 and some road (forget), so that should really tie up the rush hour this morning! Mits, welcome back. Glad you made it back safely! And I guess Jo is in New York! Sure hope she got there safely! They're getting strong winds too. Least it's not too cold today, it was 39° at my house, 45° here. Candy, sleep tight. I'll talk to you when you get up again!
Lord BW is feeding the chicks, well, one is grabbing his own bite! Whoever is in our nest is either sitting or standing over the egg cup just looking around.
Well, the BW chicks have learned they don't have to wait for mom or dad to give them a bite... they can reach and steal it! Too cute. Osprey is now standing in the nest, but only 1 at the moment. 2ND ONE ARRIVED, it was Lib in the nest!
Man, the light on the BW eagle cam is probably blowing all over the place. One refresh it's bright, next refresh it's dark! Our kids still standing in nest looking pretty!
Other parent in nest now, first one left. Osprey just standing on side of nest hanging out. PA falcon still on eggs, looking like she wants to sleep some more.
Osprey back. He/She leaves for 1 refresh, then back. Wonder if there is something flying around the nest, and they're chasing it/them away? Back facing cam, so can't tell if it's a male or female.
Good Morning everyone. Finally a day with sunshine and at least warm enough to work in the yard. Guess today I will do the reading and see what others have been watching. Hope your day is Full of eagles.
Well NCTC fans you know the drill and the Maine pair with their now 2 little ones, could certainly use your prayers to get through the powerful storm they are now enduring and will face throughout the day and also coming night.
Back with you all. Was soooo glad to hear that Maine has 2 chicks now in their news. I had been watching them off and on all weekend, but couldn't tell. Thanks glo for the info.
It is still very windy here on the outer banks. We have a temp. of 66', but the wind would blow you over. My husband was out early and said that water was coming over our road; don't know about the houses in the Kitty Hawk or Nags Head area. Schools are closed here until tomorrow, but we'll have to make it up on this Saturday:(

Good Sunday Morn to all,
Have a great trip, relax and enjoy, Mema Jo. Say 'hi' to the granddaughter for us all...
All the rain slows everything down, but it also settles things...Liberty-Belle should be ready to go soon if they're going to do it this year at all.
I don't believe So Cal got a drop of rain yet...after all the promises on the Internet.
Everyone enjoy the weekend.
Jim

I have already read the BW blog and watched Lisa's video of the turmoil that went on between the 3 ospreys. Both were very informative.

The female (original, I believe) has departed the BW nest again...could just be hungry.
Jim
Is that the same one that sat on the nest all pm yesterday or the rogue one Jim?
It looked like the female of the pair that has been building the nest, Carolina.
Don't know if she had to go fishing for herself this morning, or if another attack occurred.
The attacks happened so fast that you wouldn't see them between the 60 second refreshes. However, everything I did see looked peaceful this morning.
Jim

It looks like the BW eagles had some kind of crab for lunch! That is a first. Their nest has a claw in it and a piece of small leg.
Eagle alert in our Nest!!
Also two in BW osprey nest.
MT nest :( Not a very long visit but at least they were here.
There was a blur in BW osprey nest twice and only one osprey left.
BW Osprey...
I believe she left to get food and came back with food and the male. The strange blurs are associated with him flapping his wings, and I think he is still there, perched on the camera (and occasionally blurring the picture).

It is pouring rain again and electric just went out; transformer blew. Thunder, I am out of here. BBL
Both in S. Cruz nest .. changeover.
Two Harbors is feeding chicks now.
Jim
Sorry, but we lost our electricity for about a half hour. Back now

Is the parent sitting on one of the BW chicks? I have only seen one all day. Except when there were 2 and one was close to the edge of the nest.
They are both there, jill. One of them was snuggled up tight against mom. Saw them earlier against the tree trunk, always makes me nervous to see them at the edge of the nest.
I will take your word for it. Still can't see it but every once in a while parent looks distorted.
Eagle in WV nest.
And now it's gone.
Weagle Alert!!!
Both appear to be working on nest cup.
one gone, one looking atround the sky and still working on cup.
Sure would like to see an egg appear in our nest!!
Both gone:(
Hello Megan. How is it going? I guess it will be a 2-heater night tonight, huh? We have about 3 inches of snow on the ground.
Did anyone see anything violent or anything on the BW Osprey nest this afternoon??
I don't see any Osprey on it now, and it's almost dark.
Jim
Somebody is back!
Both there now!
One left.
Now both are gone again!
Since Mema Jo is enroute to NY, I placed the Liberty-Belle pics from earlier in the day in the momsters album.
Take a look if you get a chance.
Have a good evening, everyone.
Jim
Looking again, maybe the nest is empty. I thought it had four sides on it and now I see it doesn't. So on the right side might just be darkness at the edge of the nest.
Also, for some reason the light that is illuminating the nest keeps shifting its position in the pic. Or what is that reflecting on the nest?
I give up. The light keeps changing places every 60 seconds and I am starting to feel like I am going crazy. Now I don't see anything; just the changing lights. Maybe someone can tell me what it is tomorrow night.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE...back from Arizona, will talk to you tomorrow:)

Mits, welcome back from your trip. What a time to come back here. Glad to hear you arrived back here safely tho.
Just checked into the BW osprey nest and it sure looks as if someone is starting to build up the nest and getting ready to make a new home for themselves.
And with that said, since everything is still dark in cam land, I think I'll go back to bed for awhile. Hope everyone and everything stays safe today.

WEAGLE ALERT!!!
And Lord BW is back with breakfast for the kids.
Getting daylight out, but can't tell who is in our nest. Sitting over the egg cup, though.
Lord BW is feeding the chicks, well, one is grabbing his own bite! Whoever is in our nest is either sitting or standing over the egg cup just looking around.
Osprey just arrived!
Think that's Belle.
Morning everyone!! Eagle in the nest now!
No action, she's jut standing there looking around. (Or he, not sure which it is.)
Well, the BW chicks have learned they don't have to wait for mom or dad to give them a bite... they can reach and steal it! Too cute. Osprey is now standing in the nest, but only 1 at the moment. 2ND ONE ARRIVED, it was Lib in the nest!
Osprey gone. that was Lib in the nest. Belle is so much bigger!
Osprey back. Lib and Belle inspecting the nest.
Man, the light on the BW eagle cam is probably blowing all over the place. One refresh it's bright, next refresh it's dark!
Our kids still standing in nest looking pretty!
Belle just took off, Lib still standing by the egg cup looking around.
Dang, Lib just left too. Maybe they'll be back.
Morning, Jennifer! Just been posting away, not looking to see if anyone else is up and watching! Glad you got to see them this morning.
Both BW parents in nest now.
Other parent in nest now, first one left. Osprey just standing on side of nest hanging out. PA falcon still on eggs, looking like she wants to sleep some more.
Osprey just left.
Osprey back. He/She leaves for 1 refresh, then back. Wonder if there is something flying around the nest, and they're chasing it/them away? Back facing cam, so can't tell if it's a male or female.
Well, BW eagle cam went away. Hope it comes back, and it wasn't the wind that blew it down or something.
Phew, cam back.
BW parent gone. Fish all gone.

Back with you all. Was soooo glad to hear that Maine has 2 chicks now in their news. I had been watching them off and on all weekend, but couldn't tell. Thanks glo for the info.
Just checked around and all seemed to be lounging, but Tow Harbors was feeding chicks. Maine and Norfolk nests are hanging on for dear life.

No action on our nest or BW. I was glad to hear that our eagles made a visit this morning, tho. Guess I'll go read awhile. Later gator!
Did I say later gator? Oh my, maybe I should have said that I was waiting for Liberty and Belle. :)
Eagle
Alert
One eagle in our nets
Standing by the egg cup, looking around. Now Two Eagles! I think Belle just arrived.
One eagle flies the coupe.
One still in nest, trying to make up their mind to go or stay
Two birds back in nest!
One looking in egg cup while other is on lookout branch.
It looks as if it was Liberty that flew
Our nest is still occupied with one bird
There has been no nest fixing by either of them. Just seems like a lot of pondering about what to do.
Osprey back on BW nest
If that is you Belle, please sit down in the egg cup and get comffy.
