No, Bob, haven' looked at the a.m. rag yet, but am heading there now...to see it, thanks for the heads-up. I had written to some of the people involved with watching George about a month ago, and they had seen him with the "other woman".
NE cam quaility has gotten really poor, was nicer earlier....can't tell what is going on there...can't seem to get comfy on the eggs. But haven't seen anything under the eagle yet, either, eggs or chicks.....
Good morning everyone just have a minute to check in. Do you know how long the nest in Maine has been left alone? Wanted to tell everyone Happy Easter and have a great weekend with family and friends.
Good Late Good Friday Morning So Steve heard you Paula and deleted the second new thread..lol So glad that you saw Liberty & Belle this am, Suzanne. Good to hear from Bob -- hope he gets some more fantastic pics at BW today. Want to watch your video, Paula and go check out emails and especially want to find out what George has been up to with Monica.
I THINK I just saw a brand new chick in the NE nest. Mom hadn't settled for more than 30 seconds at a time, just kept checking what was under her, then she moved off for just a moment and I think the top "egg" has turned into a chick, and I think I saw it move a little. The picture is so small I can't be sure, tho.
Yes KateAZ I saw it too. Don't think its quite all the wayout of the shell yet, but definite movement going on and Dad had just brought lots of fresh warm grass within a minute of seeing that egg wiggling and half at least hatched. Good luck trying to watch the site today, its a struggle to get in. I have a video started that I hope to be able to get the Finishing touch on as the day proceeds.
My, My, My.... First there is the (three some) going on in Catalina and now I read we have a floozie home wrecker on the east coast. Arent there enough men to go around? Tisk, tisk, tisk, How racy. Good Morning all and what a beautiful day. Every time I start typing I get a call from one of my kids wanting to know what to bring for the picnic tomorrow. I have one going down the isles of Sams club with his cell phone and shopping for me and another cooking and calling for instructions. Here I sit reading your blogs and visiting. What a life. I feel very blessed this morning. I got my info on my Alaska cruise last night and I read where there is a rehabilitation center for eagles and others in Sitka. I will be there for a whole day and I'm making arrangements for a private visit. I'm thrilled.Paula I wanted a sweatshirt to wear there. And yes Jo I will sign up as soon as I can. Hugs.
Ah Sunny,( that was my name is college)Just wait until it gets September and it has cooled down and the weather is perfect in your area and I'm still dying of 101-112 in this valley with no breath in sight and then you can go neener-neener. And yes, there is always room for one more. Bring the sunscreen and the kids.. :)
MIts, I thought it looked like a chick too, but I was on the 45k connection...not as clear as the 128 connection...Dad did bring a nice fish for the new baby!
I emailed NE about what we think (know)we see. The due date for hatching was yesterday the 4th. I will let you know when I get a response of confirmation. For the longest time I couldn't get on due to 'all lines were busy'.
What's an eaglet doing a funky chicken dance for? Doesn't he know that chickens can't soar in the sky. lol-AnneMarie! Glad you are having a great pre Easter weekend day! Sent you a video by email to top off your day!
Mitts I can do that at home but I'm careful about how much I put on the computer at work. I clean it every night before I go home.I've been here 18 years and I dont want to cause waves. In a company this big your just a number. Thanks so much for your help.
I am currently uploading a video with the finishing touch on the Northeast Hatch today at Bartons Cove. It will probably be an hour or more before it is available off of the For the Love of Eagles BLOG by clicking my name
Watching new life enter this world on Good Friday in its own way is as neat as watching our Spunky fledge on Flag Day....these eagles know more about somethings than we ever thought they did....JMHO
You all sure that isn't Belle in the nest now........I know its better to see them together in order to know. And you all saw them together. Just looks large and the tail looks like Belle's.
I hope Belle gives us a egg soon. Does anyone know if the Norfolk babies have names or is the name contest for them. Do the Norfolk mom and dad have names?
Beth Most nest don't name the adult eagles or the eaglets. Norfolk has never mentioned adult names nor have they had any contest for eaglet names. Blackwater always has a contest for their eaglets' names - it is going on now. Biologists never name them - but we in Shepherdstown have Belle and Liberty - DC had George & Martha(deceased), Kent has Star and Spirit. Names are because of HUMAN BEINGS becoming involved.
yup Jo i snapped each 30 sec and each time each eagle was looking same direction next they changed same direction.. now 1 remains cant tell which one it is..
My Heavens, all I did was go to the dentist and everyting happened. Remind me to be a dentist in my next life or marry one. I may have to take out a second to pay for it all. Now I have to go to a specialist. All of this from a cracked cap.Oh well, the day isnt over.
Well I hope the latter half of your day is beautiful and not like the first half. Cracked crown - depends on which tooth as to repairing it. This is what happens as we add on the years - Happened to me too!!!
What a day, I'm beat and I have a nail appt. I'll be back later to check in and read your blogs. Its so cute to watch Lib fuss around the nest cup. He looks like an expectant father in the delivery room.Belle is too busy fluttering around to sit down and do some serious concentration.I bet if he could lay it for her he would. LOL
LOoks like everyone is preparing for the Easter holiday, including myself. Got the last of the cleaning done and even managed to walk the dogs. Hope you have a great evening!!

Thanks for the heads up, Paula...yes, think Steven is telling us something.
Well I am laughing this morning at the BW osprey and their "marsh muck" and the eaglets and their "bloody good meal".
NE coming up right away this morning...sunny there.
Maine, snow on the nest, not to breezy - hope it melts some there today!!
They are a riot, Suz.
Did you all see the article today on the Wilson Bridge eagle George and the hussy that attacked Martha:

LOL! You aren't biased against that lil ol' homewrecker, are you Bob?
Good Article, Bob...we prefer here on the blog to call her Monica:).
LOL, Mits, that's about the only name they didn't call her in that article.
I ain't ready to make nice with that beast of an eagle!! Miss Monica!
NE cam quaility has gotten really poor, was nicer earlier....can't tell what is going on there...can't seem to get comfy on the eggs. But haven't seen anything under the eagle yet, either, eggs or chicks.....
Yea, Suz, it was a great visit!!
Good morning everyone just have a minute to check in. Do you know how long the nest in Maine has been left alone? Wanted to tell everyone Happy Easter and have a great weekend with family and friends.
Headed out to BW shortly. I'll let you know if I post anything worthwhile later.
Thanks Bob!!

Can someome tell me the names of the eagles at Norfolk Botanical?

Bob - Hope you get some good ones!
Beth - Is that you? I don't know of any names for the VA chicklets...
Cool, Kate - glad someone has seen something....been watching all morning....of course she does that when my computer is acting up and needs a reset!!
Whoo Hoo! Kate and Glo I was right there with you. Top egg - not all the way out - I totally agree.

3 passed out chicklets in VA
Heidi - There is also an eagle 3-some in Texas - search for Cottonwood eagles....website w/ pictures...no video or cam.
Ah Sunny,( that was my name is college)Just wait until it gets September and it has cooled down and the weather is perfect in your area and I'm still dying of 101-112 in this valley with no breath in sight and then you can go neener-neener. Both adults at NE, looks like a chick and an egg..I double-left click on pic to make it larger
adult eagle at NE just sat down again.
MIts, I thought it looked like a chick too, but I was on the 45k connection...not as clear as the 128 connection...Dad did bring a nice fish for the new baby!
Dad brought a humongeous fish for the little one, yeah, pic is not great, but better than nothing.
Mom brought a fish at Norfolk. Babe doing the "funkey chicken dance"
I emailed NE about what we think (know)we see. The due date for hatching was yesterday the 4th. I will let you know when I get a response of confirmation. For the longest time I couldn't get on due to 'all lines were busy'.

Paula Thank you so much for completing the Momster album pics for yesterday. I love the 'beaking' one!
CO eggs are due 7th or 8th...Not far away..
Oldest chick at Norfolk trying to feed himself and play with a stick at the same time! lol
In fact - all three Norfolk chicks are feeding themselves...Bet mom will be relieved at what they have learned to do!

thank you Paula
No worries, Heidi...I still have problems, but when I find a site I like, I put it on my favorites list.
Heidi - it may give you a message - I can't get back in right now. I'll give it a few and then try again.
Lines Are Busy with Chick Watchers
MITS - thanks for the article concerning John Hancock trying to keep them from downing the tree and moving the eagle's nest.
Progress?
Sometimes the 45k is easier to get onto than the 128k at Barton's Cove.
Mitts I can do that at home but I'm careful about how much I put on the computer at work. I clean it every night before I go home.I've been here 18 years and I dont want to cause waves. In a company this big your just a number. Thanks so much for your help.
