Hope everyone is sleeping. Here are the shots from Saturday's events at the BW Osprey cam:

Saturday's Pix

Mom was in the nest for this entire sequence. In reviewing them they tell a different story than what I thought I saw in real time. What I thought was the same osprey at one point were actually two different ones because you can see one had a fish and the other did not. The way one was looking over it's shoulder and body language in other shots seems to indicate some kind of confrontation.

Morning, all.

Looks like we have seen the best and worst of mother nature this year. So sad about the Osprey eggs, but they may not have made it with all the time she was off of them in the last two days.

Beautiful photos, Bob.

Good Sunday Morning
Thank you so much for placing the Osprey pix & details here for us,Bob. There isn't even a trace of an egg shell this mid-morning hour in the nest.
I will email someone at NCTC about our cam being frozen.Hopefully they will reset it.
All eaglets seem to be sleeping or waiting for more food! Check out the Sidney Nest! The chick keeps one eye on the cam while trying to sleep. Both adults are at the Puget Sound nest & Spirit is in the nest with his kids. Can't get the NE cam up-still blue. CO kids are getting larger & darker. ME & FL nests are empty. And we're still waiting for repairs at WE & TH nests but the Santa Cruz cam is up & running.
Going to check out hawks & owls!
And of course The Little Prince Tai!

A VERY GOOD SUNDAY MORNING TO ALL....

The female Osprey has tidied up the nest, disposing of the egg shells. And she has preened herself and moved around the nest looking as though she's defending against something. But she still looks as though she's in shock, and I don't know if she has eaten anything this morning.

I viewed your wonderful shots of yesterday, Bob, and you can see there are territorial incursions and defenses going on, but it's hard to keep track of "who is who."

It's just too bad that all of this pair's efforts this year have been wasted, but that's the way Nature is sometimes.

Hope somebody figures out what happened over all and explains it to us.

For nest watchers there are many choices this year....

Have a great Sunday.

Hello on this sunny/cloudy day in Shepherdstown. Dana, good to hear from you again. Tom is home, for a minimum of 4 weeks further antibiotic regime. He's doing well, but it's a long road. Mother is better physically, but a little more confused every day. She celebrated her 92nd birthday and Mothers Day last Sunday. My sister has gone home to Jackson, California and I miss her very much.

Is anybody else watching Owl Cam 1, a barn owl with four eggs at the Wild Watch cams? I haven't seen an adult since Friday. I hope we don't have another tragedy.

Hi, did you catch the crow back on the Osprey nest while the female was gone? Now the mama's back and the crow is gone...

Paula, I was looking at some of the great pictures you posted of your vacation...thank God you took a lot of them too.

Anyhow, I click on the "on the way to Morrow Bay" link... #&*@ ERROR 404!

BW has updated more info on the OSPREY!!!--(in nest now w/fish)---LISA certainly has a way with words---She also posts pics of past archives---showing what the chicks look & how the little ones act when hatched---GOOD READ!!!---Her thoughts on the survival of eggs even if CROW had not destroyed them!!!!

paula eagleholic said...

Nice entry by Lisa.

Loved the Morro Bay set too, Paula... You should drive the Coast Highway ... I don't know how far north, maybe all the way.

Twice, I took a slow drive in the TR4-A I used to have along Highway 1 from Orange County to Monterey, and the section from Morro Bay and San Simeon north along the cliffside to Carmel and Monterey is extremely beautiful...never saw an eagle though (hahaha).

Anyway, great vacation, great pics, Paula. I enjoyed them.

Sandra - the owl nest on WildWatchCams has been vacated by the female owl. The male (as in the case of the Osprey BW nest) never came home. Here is a link to their forum:

Take a look at the Santa Cruz nest...

Couldn't figure out what that strange-shaped, buff-colored thing was near the chick. Now I think it is the remains of a rabbit. Does it look like that to you?

Jim

The chick seems to be trying to feed itself already.

Thanks for the information, Jo, I forgot about the Washington blog. Norma, next time don't just wave and drive by like Queen Elizabeth! Ho! Drop in and say hi. So much sadness this year, but also so much beauty. Jo, is there a burrowing owl blog? Paula, what a wonderful spring you have had; thanks for sharing.

Mema Jo said...

Sandra Once you click on that link for the owl comments - click on the word FORUM. It will list all the subjects discussed and the burrowing owl comments are there also. No one yet has seen any babies come out of the burrow to date.

Good evening,

Looking at owlcam1, this morning when I was online it had 4 eggs, I just logged back in and see there are no eggs and seems to be fresh nesting, I guss I will pop over to the kent forums and see what happened.

Yes there was a lot of sadness, Belle and Lib, the maine eagles, the osprey (poor girl) and the eggs wth the owl on the kent cams.

Hope everyone has been enjoying this wonderful day. I just finished tests ad reports and ready to kick back and relax...

Mema Jo said...

Well, Robyn, I agree with you- the 4 eggs were there earlier. Who but a human could have cleaned up the nest box like that so fast? I don't see anything on the forum about it & I can't find and section like a home page with news about the owls....

Robyn said...

Hello Jo,

The bravenet forum holds all the cams posts so I just left a post there in case someone has an idea about what happened.

There was a post stating the nestbox got flooded this year so maybe it caught something it couldn't resist, which would explain why she pulled some feather off herself.

Evening, all. Had to finish the last night of bowling tonight. Worked out in the yard this afternoon, then all the kids stopped by. Got to see all the wedding photos! They turned out great.

Mama osprey is on the nest right now in the far right corner. Eaglets must be on the branches, the nest is MT.

Hi Paula, Sounds as though you had a very good day! I got to look at all the albums from your CA trip & some of those pics were so beautiful. The scenery and sunsets were awesome.
Looks like Ms Osprey is not giving up her nest! I think Lisa is right in that something did happen to the dad. Guess we'll never really know.

We have some very wet tenting eagles out in WA state nests.
