Candy, we will be anxious to hear about the play when you return to Lancaster.
BW osprey still off the eggs..Lisa says she is going to the refuge this weekend to check out things. She also want to try to see what the eaglets are doing - branching or flying.
Norma I can't find ButaButa in the day room. I think it is Tai sleeping outside on that cam.

Meant to say to Candy about returning to WINCHESTER from LANCASTER.....

The NY redtail hawk chicks are starting to look like hawks! WOW I had not seen them for a few days! They grew overnight, I'm sure.

Mema Jo said...

Thank you Steve! We will make good use of them.

Jill said...

Osprey standing on edge of nest box. Can't tell which one

Jill said...

Still standing there. One of the eggs doesn't look normal. Maybe just the angle

Jill said...

Osprey still at the side of the nest. Not making any effort to go to the eggs. Doesn't it know it is cold out today. Been off the eggs at least 5 minutes

Jill said...

Maybe it heard me. Moved closer to the eggs. Not sitting on them but closer.

Mema Jo said...

Hi Jill! Hope you're having a good day.

Osprey just looks as though she is thinking about NOT getting back on those eggs!

Jill said...

Back on eggs now. Keeps looking off to the left at something.

Mema Jo said...

No sooner said then she went right over to them and is once again nesting.

Jill said...

She heard me say it was cold. LOL

Jill said...

Hey Jo. Trying to get this house clean for surprise party tomorrow. Can't get motivated.

sunny said...

Jill said...

Jo she's gone. was looking out to the left then disappeared.

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks for the new threads for the upcoming week, Steve. How thoughtful of you!

Now we can post away!! :):)

Jill said...

Saw that Suzanne. One was in the nest just shortly before she updated. But briefly.

Jill said...

Osprey is back, preening.

Jill said...

Im sorry should have been Sunny not Suzanne. AT least it started with an S

paula eagleholic said...

She is back at corner of nest - eating??

paula eagleholic said...

I sent Lisa an email earlier - told her the eaglets have been gone most of the morning...

Jill said...

Something is bothering the Osprey. Out of camera view to the left. She keeps looking over there

Jill said...

Seems to be preening more that eating. Maybe there is a male off to the left she is trying to get cleaned up for. LOL

Mema Jo said...

Mema Jo said...

This return of the eaglets to the nest for meals brings back so many many fond memories of our 3 that fledged and how we waited just to see them come back.

sunny said...

YAYY!! If they have fledged, there's nothing better than seeing they made it out into the world, and back to the nest again! Go Justice & Majesty!!

Mema Jo said...

Need to leave for a few... BBL

paula eagleholic said...

Eaglet must be eating his fledging reward meal :)

Jill said...

Could the eaglets have caught the fish themselves. They are pretty small.

Jill said...

Cool. Where did you find the info? Did you see Bob Mohr? He should have been in there too. Big cival war buff. Not too mention he used to be a hottie. LOL

Jill said...

Ok I will go look it up. Thanks

paula eagleholic said...

Star and Spirit both in nest, raising up a ruckus!

sunny said...

Is it possible that Mama osprey will dessert the eggs, knowing that she can't care for them alone if they hatch?

paula eagleholic said...

Back to one, think it is Spirit

paula eagleholic said...

Other one up the tree at Kent
Spirit has dark spot over eye, correct?

Jill said...

Looks like she is trying to make up here mind or else something really is out there. She Keeps looking out to the left.

Norma, can't get Cumberland Times to come up. Will try again later.

paula eagleholic said...

Per Lisa's last web log -

If this goes on for a long time without a second parent, at some point the single adult might abandon the eggs or have to leave them alone for so long that the embryos will not develop properly for hatching.

paula eagleholic said...

Now looking towards cam again - I emailed Lisa for her thoughts....

normabyrd said...

PAULA---JO---JILL---SUNNY---CHECK OUT THE EXTRA THREADS STEVEN JUST LEFT----WE SEEM TO BE GOING THE WRONG WAY----WE NEED TO GO DOWN TO THE BOAT PICS HE HAS POSTED---

paula eagleholic said...

One eaglet left again and one in nest at BW

Jill said...

paula eagleholic said...

NOrma, the boat pic thread is for Saturday.....look at the heading

Jill said...

This thread was already here when he add the others so that is why I think this one is for today.

paula eagleholic said...

That must have been Star in the nest w/ a bad do. Spirit is back in the nest now. Looks like eatin' Time !! :):)

normabyrd said...

paula--THAT IS WHAT I THINK--BUT SOMEONE HAS STARTED THE OTHER THREAD ON THE OTHER END---MAKE SENSE???

Jill said...

It was Wanda, I don't think she realized that there were 2 Friday threads. Gotta show up early around here to know what is going on.

normabyrd said...

STEVEN----I have been a member of NATURE'S CONSERVANCY for 15 years------Does that mean I can go along?????

normabyrd said...

STEVEN wrote the date "MAY 18, 2007" above it----That's what has caused all the confusion!!!---No big deal as long as we all go the same way!!!

paula eagleholic said...

I wonder if the hussy is back at BW?? Osprey left and back a minute or two later.

paula eagleholic said...

Yup, Wanda is lost amongst the threads!!

Steve who we all wish a wonderful week has left us one week full of new threads as he is going on a trip to Maine.

I think we need to take a good look at the days as he has divided them out so we are all on the same day and page as we post to threads this week while he is gone. He has taken very good care of us as always.

Thanks Steve Do have a wonderful time

glo said...

OK so a few of you have already discovered we have a decision to make about where to post for tomorrow. I too vote for the boat thread LOL.

OK back to watching eagles and a spot of tea with some carrot cake is on tap at my house.

Jill said...

Norma, the date is today's date, look closely it is the only one there, the other threads have no date on them.

Everybody else: Tomorrows thread is the one with the river and the boat. After that we should be okay no more duplicate days.

Steve can't leave us alone for 5 mins before we are in trouble LOL

Jill said...

Something is definitely bothering the osprey. Won't sit on the eggs, keeps looking around, and keep flying off.

Bob Quinn said...

Definitely worried about BW osprey mama and eggs. Something is not right. I may try to get out there tomorrow.

Robyn said...

Heidigirl my condolences for you and yours. Jo hope you enjoyed lunch with Jennifer, Steven have a great trip and hope the weather is nice.

Cool here today and wet, just catching up with the threads...

Jill said...

Bob, she has been nervous all afternoon, mostly off the eggs but on the edge of the box. Then would fly off and come back but no evidence of food that I could see. She was preening a lot.

paula eagleholic said...

Mama Osprey finally back on the nest. I wonder if the male showed back up with the new hussy and then wanted back in - guess whatever was bothering her has left.

paula eagleholic said...

BW eaglet is gone again - aahhh, FREEDOM AT LAST! :-)

Jill said...

Didn't last long Paula she is up again/

paula eagleholic said...

Darn, she is up again.

paula eagleholic said...

Bob Quinn said...

Mama osprey looks like she has that stink eye mama fox was giving me when I got too close.

paula eagleholic said...

She is preening, but watchful

normabyrd said...

Watching the poor OSPREY at BW---Still not on the eggs---Hangs on the side---with her head down---Like she is MOURNING!!!

normabyrd said...

KENT EAGLETS are the cutest around----They are being fed--Such polite little FUZZ BALLS!!!----

paula eagleholic said...

Maybe she is mourning, Norma. Maybe she knows he is not coming back. So sad.

CU later.

normabyrd said...

OSPREY still hanging on the side with her head down---FEEL SO SORRY FOR HER & the EGGS!!!---LATER---GOING TO DINNER!---

Jill said...

I still think something is wrong with one of the eggs. Two look nice and oval the other looks flat.

Jill said...

Norma wheres dinner, I will be over. LOL

Mema Jo said...

I did leave for a few... Now I need to leave for a few more. Looks like the Osprey Saga is a continuing mystery. Yes, Bob you best go down there & help us know what is the real story!
I emailed Wanda to come on down to this thread. I am sure we can all stick together for this upcoming week!
I will return later - keep the blog posted with all your comments as you do so well. BBL

Costume Lady said...

GOOD EVENING LADIES--
Sorry I messed up by posting on the wrong thread. I realized as soon as I sent my comment that I was on the wrong day and there was no way of retracting. I am still learning the rules of blogging.

paula eagleholic said...

1 eaglet at BW

Osprey Mom still off the eggs. I am guessing that she is trying to abandon them. It must be hard.

No dinner here. Just snacking :)

paula eagleholic said...

That's OK, Wanda. Don't you have a trash can at the bottom of your post? That is for "trashing" it, LOL.

paula eagleholic said...

Maybe I spoke too soon, Mama is on the eggs.

Costume Lady said...

PAULA--
Are you serious about the "trashcan" on my post? I have wondered why no one else has that. I am still quite new to computers and don't understand a lot of things I run into!

paula eagleholic said...

2 eaglets at BW - wonder if they will spend the night in the nest?

Mama off the eggs.

paula eagleholic said...

Wanda -
There sure is something new to learn about computers every day! Trash away!!

paula eagleholic said...

Aww,,, Mama osprey back on the nest.

paula eagleholic said...

At least on BW eagle is going to spend the night in his or her own bed, LOL

Jill said...

Wanda, I will come over and give you a computer lesson. LOL. I am real good at putting trash away. HE HE.

Costume Lady said...

JILL
Have any idea why I had a trashcan at the bottom of my post? No one else does.

paula eagleholic said...

Wanda,
Each poster has a trash can at the bottom of only their posts. If you want to delete your post, click on the trash can. Blogger will ask you if you want to delete your post. When you are done, it brings you back to this blog, but sometimes it looks different, so click on the NCTC Eagle Cam Daily at the top and re-enter the blog.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good evening everyone. Hope all is well with you!

Jill said...

Hey Wanda,

What Paula said. LOL

Costume Lady said...

PAULA and JILL
Thanks for the "Trashy Lesson". I understand it now!

Mema Jo said...

What is all this TRASH talk about?

Wanda - When I was new to the blog, I asked the same question about why am I the only one who has a trash can?
So, therefore Gal, I am right there with ya! I can laugh about it now thinking oh my how stupid will those bloggers think I am... But I kept right on with it learning as much as I could!

Costume Lady said...

HI SHARON

Have a good evening all.

Costume Lady said...

Yes Jo, I do feel stupid at times but I enjoy learning new things about this computer. It takes me to places that I never thought possible.

Mema Jo said...

I just had a very luscious belated Mother's Day dinner with our daughter down at Mealey's in NewMarket (Bestest crab cakes ever). Such a nice visit!

Checking the cams and I see the osprey on the eggs.. Hope Lisa can clue us in as to what is going on after her visit to the refuge.

Jill - I forgot who you were surprising tomorrow..??

Mema Jo said...

What ya up to Sharon? Did you mean or did I miss your Proud Momma news on here?

Mema Jo said...

paula eagleholic said...

Bless her little heart. Mama Osprey still on the eggs.

Jill said...

Jo It's my husbands 50th. And has it been a pain. I think we have changed the plans at least 5 times. No we have to worry about the weather. Shew. And keeping him from the house. Had it all planned then found out his oldest will be in the area in a wakeboard comp. So had know idea when he would be home or not. Finally got it all figured out. I think. NOw if we can get everything decorated in 1/2 hour we will be good. LOL

paula eagleholic said...

Wanda,
We can "talk trash" anytime you want, LOL.

I got some more pictures loaded from my CA trip

From Sunday Apr 29

Jill Good luck with the party & have fun!

Robyn said...

WOW what a long day and so many posts to catch up on.

Went out to make sure my cherry trees were getting enough water and see if they are still in shock when I heard all these birds just singing away. I have 12 trees on my property and looked up at one and saw a nest. Lo and behold there was a bird just sitting there so I guess she is incubating. Decided to look at the the trees after I ran inside for my binoculars and OMG there were 5 other nests one bigger then the next. I did see a bird spreading her/his wings on one of the trees where there was a hollow, it looked like a tufted titmouse but the color was hard to make out due to the cloud covereage this evening.

Tomorrow is another day...

Jo crabcakes? I love crabcakes, looks like a trip to New Market sometime soon :)

Hope you get to pull of your surprise for your husband Jill.

Mema Jo said...

Robyn - you have had a very busy day. Hope those birds don't wake you up too early. Still have the kitten?

paula eagleholic said...

Robyn - bet you can't wait to see those nests in daylight! How cool!

Costume Lady said...

PAULA--I just finished hiking Santa Rosa and boy am I tired. (It was beautiful)

Costume Lady said...

Robyn
Be sure to let us know what kind of nests you have.

GOOD NIGHT ALL

Robyn said...

Jo, the birds can never wake me up. Living in the woods the past ten years you grow accustomed to sounds that aren't citified like sirens, garbge trucks, people yellng lol.. The kitten is still here I can email you a pic, she is 7 weeks and going to be a fluff ball

It's my lttle paradise :)

Paula it was getting dusk and my eyes aren't as keen as they were a few years ago. But when we take the cover off the pool tomorrow (yes a lttle late) I will be taking some pics with my 3 foot lens :) as my best friend says to me ... you're such dork lol

Mema Jo said...
