WELCOME BACK STEVEN!!!!----We have MISSED you!!!-----I KNOW YOU MISSED US TOO!!!!---ho!--- GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES!!!----REMEMBER TODAY IS MEMORIAL DAY!!!!
Good Morning GLO--Hope you are having a great weekend. I checked the Va. cam, but don't see anything unusual. What are we missing? Check out Kent cam. Babies don't look right. Maybe they are just taking a long nap.
HI WANDA---I have "GOOFED OFF" all weekend!!!!----What great things have you accomplished???--ho!----We may get rain today---Just opened the draperies----We have had rain this a.m.---ho!---
Ok Paula is catching you all up to speed with Norfolk. yep lots of distant branching an don some forums debate over whether or not that is actually a fledge. Lets just say where Mom sits right now, the oldest Young eagle was sitting a couple of different times this morning.
If I were you I owuld stay tuned to that cam all day. A wonderful show of fledging/branching has been occuring since just before 7 am your time today. Norfolk allows us to see what we can not but onlyimagined at both NCTC last year and BW so far this year.
Good Memorial Day Morning Welcome back Steve - The scenery from the picture is so peaceful looking. Turned VA cam on as soon as I read Glo's alarm & it opened to a close up of the eaglet high up on the branch. He flew off of it - I didn't know where he went - Mom & Dad were on the outer branch & Dad took off - I thought to see where she had gone. But then the cam zoomed in on the nest & there were all 3. Yes I got the same feeling watching them as I did last year when BigBoy first was not visible.
WANDA----I enjoy the KENT EAGLES most of all---this year---!!---As I have said before---since OURS eggs didn't hatched-----This nest reminds me of OURS---There seems to be a parent eagle there most of the time!!!!
Normabyrd I too have been watching the Kent family and the AMPS Red Tail Hawk family(NY I think) more than anything else. I haven't seen the Hawks at all today. Either they have Fledged or are hanging out on the ledge.
Norma, and all, I looked at Bird Girl's definitions again, but "fledging" seemed to conflict with our usage...looked it up and "fledging" has several meanings, including "first flight," which is the way we are using it.
Hawks are back in nest with a fuzzy lunch. Kent babies have seemed rather listless since last evening. Maybe I am checking at nap time. Hope that is all it is.
I certainly hope you all have a great Memorial Day celebration.
I am shortly leaving for a nearby town called Seal Beach to pick up my cousin. We are going to my sister and brother-in-law's place in north San Diego County for a get together.
Wanda, the eaglets are like babies They eat, look around a little & then they sleep! I really like those cams because I can see that mom or dad is up on the branch looking over them.
Lots of Burrowing Owls out of the burrow on the WildWatch Cam. Also - 2 eggs in the Bluebird Nest Box Not certain that they belong to the Bluebird - different bird we think on the forum.
THE BLUEBIRD nest may be occupied by a Tree Swallow. The place feathers in and around their nest just before they lay their eggs. Usually Duck feathers. Interesting isn't it? Hello, PAULA.
HELLO AGAIN----JO!---I had good intentions this a.m.---But I have had friends come by---so not fully dressed!!---We do what we can---Then when SUZANNE checks in----She won't yell!!--ho!----I agree w/JIM----We have always referred to fledging as "first flight"!!!--REMEMBER OUR LAST CREW!!!---They dropped by to sleep & eat for a VERY LONG TIME----AREN'T WE GLAD THEY DID!!!!!---ho! ho!
Fledge at VA, and now a food fight in the nest. Dad just returned with a treat for the eaglet! Didn't see the fly in, but looked up and Dad and eaglet were in the middle of the nest with their wings flapping. The other two immediately came from their branches into the nest - Dad barely made it out to the bottom branch!
WANDA----I enjoy the KENT EAGLES most of all---this year---!!---As I have said before---since OURS eggs didn't hatched-----This nest reminds me of OURS---There seems to be a parent eagle there most of the time!!!!
Hello everyone. I think I'm finally on the blog again, the monster has been blocking me six ways from Sunday! Look at all the burrowing owls in Washington! They weren't there yesterday. You who visit the nest and Shepherdstown (and you know wh o you are) make me sad, because I would love to see you. So much happening--I'm enjoying the Derby Cathedral falcons.
THE OWLETS are becoming adults fast!!!----They have no problem eating---any size!!!--ho! ho!---- A KILLDEER egg hatched 5/26----It is almost impossible to see MOM & chick---They are so well camouflaged----!!!
Hello Sandra! I am once again sitting here in the air condition. I just can't take HUMID anymore. Here is a link you are going to enjoy - I think you would have missed seeing it earlier when I posted it.
HELLO SANDYSHAW!!!---GREAT to hear from you!!!---It's a dreary day here !!----How's your family's health!!!---I haven't been to Shepherdstown recently---PROMISE---we will do lunch!!--I am not familiar with the Derby Cathedral Falcons---Where are they located?----I so enjoy watching falcons!--I think the females have such beautiful eyes---ho!---They sometime appear to be looking direct at you!!!
Norma Checked out pandas. I Can find the little beauty in the den having a play fight with her mother. GO LOOK Both DC cams have sleeping pandas & I can't be sure but the one on the LEDGE must be You Know Who.
The "ATLANTA BEAUTY" & LUN LUN are really putting on a show!!!---Haven't seem them that active for a long time!!!!----COULD watch them for hours!!!!----
Norma, here's the Derby site. http://195.224.106.202/peregrine/webcam.htm
Thanks Jo, I love those burrowing owls.
Mother is greatly improved, is up and about. Tom will, if all goes well go off the antibiotics on Friday for two weeks. Then they will aspirate the knee. IF everything is clean, no bacteria, they will put in a new knee. If not, I'm not sure. At best, it will be more antibiotics. Please pray for him and for the doctors.
Robyn I was still up when that came through. I could NOT get it to open - it went to WORD & would you please try to send it again someother way? Shame on you getting Poison Ivy Just thinking about it makes me itch
Robyn 2 eggs in the nest box now. If you read Wanda's remark earlier today - she immediately said a Tree Swallow likes bluebird boxes only if it is feathered! They usually find duck feathers for the box. Barb just said she saw the bird late last night until very early this am.
THANKS SANDYSHAW!!!!----There are so many other birds to watch at this site!!!!!----What a beautiful setting for a FALCON NEST!!----I look forward to watching the other birds too!!!---Thanks for sharing!!!
Just saw 2 chicks and 1 egg on that site as the mother rolled the egg and then tried very hard to sit back down on the egg and 1 chick....The other one got to stay out......
JO----You are correct about the BUTA BUTA!!!-----She is too FAST & SHARP for LUN LUN!!! ho!----MISS seeing SHARON on the blog!!---Wonder if she is keeping tabs on the "LITTLE BEAUTY"???
I could watch the STORKS for a long time!!!!-----Those little ones are very vocal & demanding--ho!----I guess my little ones were too!! ho!----MOTHER STORK is so very patient!!!

Thanks, Steve... beautiful scene from the north.
Good morning, everyone, and I hope you have a great Memorial Day.
I left notice on the old thread, in case somebody was still there.
Jim
Glo,
Are we looking for the chicks fledging at Norfolk?
Have any flown yet? I see one in the nest and one on the branch now.
Jim
Looks like one may have fledged at VA!!
One is high in the branch on the right, one in the nest, one in the far branch. If they fledged, they have returned.
Hope you had a great week, Steve. Thanks for the new thread!

Good Memorial Day Morning

I agree, Jim. First there is "branching" and then they take their "First Flight" meaning they have FLEDGED.
Good Morning to you also JIM. Hope you are enjoying your day off.
I certainly hope you all have a great Memorial Day celebration.
I am shortly leaving for a nearby town called Seal Beach to pick up my cousin. We are going to my sister and brother-in-law's place in north San Diego County for a get together.

Lots of Burrowing Owls out of the burrow on the WildWatch Cam.
Also - 2 eggs in the Bluebird Nest Box Not certain that they belong to the Bluebird - different bird we think on the forum.
I am glad they were able to keep a number sequence at WestEnd.
THE BLUEBIRD nest may be occupied by a Tree Swallow. The place feathers in and around their nest just before they lay their eggs. Usually Duck feathers. Interesting isn't it?
Hello, PAULA.
Cam is looking for 3rd eaglet at VA
I can only find 2 - anyone else?

Wanda The Tree Swallow is getting the most votes as to being the bird in the bluebird nestbox. I am glad you just confirmed our guesses.
WANDA----I enjoy the KENT EAGLES most of all---this year---!!---As I have said before---since OURS eggs didn't hatched-----This nest reminds me of OURS---There seems to be a parent eagle there most of the time!!!!
GOOD WATCHING at CONN OSPREY cam!!!!---DAD is there with MOM!!! He keeps screaming at something flying by!!!
Paula, I remember that Ms Inbetween was the best at mantling over the food in our nest.
