KENTUCKY DERBY WEEKEND!!!----My new grandson's name is Samuel Parsons-----There is a horse running named "SAM P."---I should bet--RIGHT---even at 20-1------???
I love watching the races too---JIM--But I always feel---when betting-- if I break even--ok--but if I win--GREAT!---(i am a coward when it comes to betting)--ho!---But when is this going to happen again???----

VA EAGLETS---are growing in leaps & bounds---WOW!--Remember we used to see OUR EAGLES & EAGLETS in the same nest---sometimes---I bet these can't do that!!!
Norma, my niece works at Churchill Downs and has exercised a Derby horse call Street Scene. That's where my bet, if I made one, would go. She gets a bonus if he wins.
Norma I did a typo - I didn't mean a MEN vacation I meant the word "mean" #:) Ho Ho! What's ButaButa doing..... let me guess- sleeping? Norma - any plans of coming over to Shepherdstown to spend Mother's day with your daughter...?
Men vacation??!! Norma, place that bet!! Hello All. Quick snack, heading back outside. Looks like George stuck his nose in the wrong place, wish an eagle would swoop down and grab some of these darn squirrels eating my birdseed. Beautiful day, but pollen is really blowing around. AA AA AA CHOO! BBL
Mits - Zoo cams: 1 just had video of Tai when he was really young at one of his exams. Other cam had the room with bed and a sleeping panda but now nothing on it.
Jim, first twice in one week!!!!!!Way to go. Hi Jill, Mits, Jo, Norma, Megan, costume lady, and Sandy so good to see you signed in. Hope I didn't miss anyone. It is a beautiful day here in se KY. Rain moved out. I am upset over George, but he knew the risks. I need to go back and read blogs, Did Suzanne get to bring her furbaby home yet. Later you all have a blessed day. donna
Suzanne, is the vet specialist you are taking Pharoah to a long distance from where he is now at the vets? Hi Sister Sharon, when is Andrew's graduation? donna
Morning Donna...I know exactly where Suzanne is going...it's a vet referral hospital, its about 30 minutes from where I live and I guess a couple hours from where Suzanne lives. She is in for a very long day.
I was on the zoo cam a little earlier. One was a panda scratching it's butt on a rock and the other was Mom playing with a little Tai. Then it switched to an outside shot of a larger panda but I couldn't tell who it was. And the other was still scratching its butt.
One little burrowing owl is out enjoying the sunshine. Probably Dad. Momma Bluebird on nest with all her babies. Looks like fresh grasses in the PS nest. Baby hawks are being shaded by Mom on AMPS. Beautiful day today!
Wishing you all a good day. sorry to hear about George actually. But it was pretty inevitable. Last time I saw him he was in the nest in Shepherdstown. Oh thats right that one turned out to be a clump of grass in a squirrel shape. Got that directly from someone at NCTC.
Hi Glo - Thanks for expressing your condolences for George.. We always thought he would end up like this. We just didn't really want to have a front seat for the event.
I am going over the 50+ pictures Suzanne snapped this morning of our eagles' visit. BBL
Good Morning all, I am not posting today. The sight erases it before it gets on. I'll try again. Just testing. If this doesnt work I'll take the hint and get back to work.
Well I posted this time but cant get to the bird cams. Oh well I'm just depending on your postings for right now until things calm down. And this is suppose to be the largest cable company in the world. Phooey.. I can see blue sky so there is hope for sunshine. Its yard work this weekend. I need to clean my bird feeders. I just want to be careful of West Nile. Does anyone use anything besides Clorox and water?
I don't want to overdo with these links BUT man it makes it so easy to get your comment across! I'll behave now - I'll wait until a special occasion lol
Really was! We get to keep him 2 more years too. I got your email & am getting contact... What about the nest visit email? I don't know when you have classes.
Good eagle evening. There are two red tailed hawk sites on beakspeak.com/birdcams; one is in New York City and the other is in Portland, Oregon. I really don't know if that is the one they are talking about as I haven't been on here much the last few days.
Boy was that a short visit; didn't stay too long. Must have had that long visit earlier in the day. I didn't have enough time to tell which one it was.
My day went very well - nothing out of the ordinary went on! Outer Banks- ever run into a family by the name of Newhouser? Going to feel really weird if you say yes.
There has been such an influx of people down here since I moved here in 1982, that it is hard to know anyone anymore. Tooooo crowded, and now the summer season begins.
I just hated it that she had sooooo far to travel to get the help she needed. That vet is down by Mits from what I read on the early blog. Let's see if this works so you can see Suz's feline friends. When & IF it opens, scroll down to the photos
I've been thinking about Suz and Pharoah all day, The place that she is going to is when the regular vet needs help in the diagnosis and more involved treatment. The vets are all specialist, took my dog Buddy ther, when he had a liver problem
My kids got a kick out of watching the panda snoozing and moving today in class. Parents come in in the morning and ask what I have it on. So now maybe the kids will go home and be watching at home too. It is better than some things on the tv or video games.
Well that didn't last long. :( My husband and friend are back in the house, so I had better be on my way. I did, at least, see the nest visited, if only for a short while. It has been nice to talk to you all for a second. All have a good night Hopefully I can get on tomorrow. Everyone have a good night and a better tomorrow. Hopefully we will get some good news from Suzanne on Monday.
Thanks, Sunny. Had an awesome week. Probably take me a month to go thru and load up all the pictures I took. The drive up Route 1 from LA to San Fran was absolutely gorgeous! I would highly recommend doing it if you have the opportunity. Got to experience some of that Chilly weather in San Fran, rained last night into this morning, yesterday was cloudy and windy and cool. Warmer here than there, but still had a great time walking around Fisherman's Wharf yesterday. Got to see the sea lions at Pier 39 and had lunch at the Eagle Cafe! Didn't see any eagles or condors coming up the coast tho. But saw lots of red tailed hawks, sea lions, and otters.
Didn't think you would get in early enough to see us tonight. Great that your home safe and that you really did have a BLAST! Started an album for your pics over on Momsters with one or two pics from the IWS blog of you. Great to have you home!
The forum at Kent said they were laid one day after the other which is unusual.
It is getting doubtful that that 2nd egg at Puget Sound is going to be fertile. 1st chick is more then a couple days old and doing well. Forum also said this nest always runs late...
I could not get to this site this evening...cam or blog...for several minutes; so I tried another link with the "B" in front that I thought came here.
It led to Glo's site instead, and she had this afternoon's pics in a slideshow playing...there was one pic of Liberty and Belle mating! So it looks like they might be going for the second nestful after all.
I looked through this blog quickly, but I didn't see any mention of a visit this afternoon??? [By the way, Glo, you have 5/6/2007 on the slideshow, but I believe it is 5/4 yet.]
Also checked the BW sites and I was mildly surprised to see the Ospreys have an egg in the nest, and this time Mama is incubating it...just surprised that they were ready so soon after the latest attacks by the outside female.
Now I should look at the Maine site to see if they have started the second clutch yet.
Happy happenings for one day...think I'll let them settle in for a few minutes.
By the way again, does anyone have a good pic of the animal thought to be George? By the time I saw it, I couldn't be sure it was a squirrel even. I'm not convinced George is gone...he's been around a few years and might be smarter than a youngster.
Sharon or Mits may still have the dead George picture for you to investigate. I'll check mine but don't think I kept it. Mits thought it was a frog at first - sorta looked like it but it was dark at the nest.
DUH! I have been checking the Puget Sound cam and trying to catch a feeding or at least the adult off the chick... I just realized that the cam is frozen and has been since 11:56:33
OK Jim What have you been drinking there to celebrate Friday? Just kidding but having said that...
There is no picture of Liberty and Belle mating on the slide show, I surely wish there were, and it does say May 4...with the word May spelled out in fact. Are you sure you were on the For the Love of Eagles BLOG? LOL.
Now if one of the pictures say 5/6/2007 that will be from their cam not my Blogging, didn't look through each picture to see how the sight they are from has dated them though so there certainly could be a picture there with that date onit , since of course we know time on the cam at PS has stood still a long time today.
No eagles now, but there's a strange white piece of something in the nest, which has moved somehow in the last quarter hour...maybe the morning newspaper.
Good Saturday Morning to you all I quess everyone is sleeping in. Good for you!! Our nest is empty--Both Osprey in nest-Mom on egg. Eagle at Kent off nest. Chicks are stretching their necks looking for mom. Mom just came home with something for breakfast. She is holding it in her claws and tearing it apart and giving small pieces to chicks. Sooo cute. Bluebird babies asleep--Mom & Dad out getting breakfast.
AMP Hawk babies pecking each other--Mom is watching. A mouse lying nearby, untouched. It must be for lunch. Love this Cam; wish all our cams were this close up and active!
Our nest still empty. Blackwater Osprey is checking out the egg. Back on egg now. It is still Breakfast Time at Kent. Bluebird Mom back on nest feeding babies. She leaves and Dad takes over feeding. Back and forth they go. An endless job!
LOL Jim I knew it. Yep they did mate for that one. They haven't co-operated on camera since though.
No, that sight is NOT out of use. As long as I live and have access to any info about this pair and their offspring, that sight will NOT be out of use. Its not updated almost daily now as well there isn't lots of news although we do get to see them still regularly.
Looks like a fine day here in Martnsburg but they are calling for rain later.
I was shocked to read last night the Va. juvies may be... branching? I was looking the other day and only saw two sitting close to the edge looking down and I felt my heart sink, thought one might have went over even called my mom in fla worrying her, oops.
At what age do they start that, aren't they a little premature yet to branch? I am looking forward to watching them branch, but I will also be sitting on edge.
Good Saturday Morning to All Great job Wanda letting me know what was or was not going on this morning. I am going to open emails & surf the cams. Not sure what I am going to get into today.. Be back.
Thanks Jo, found the blog. I can't wait till they start getting out of the nest. Sorta like our teens getting licenses you worry but trust they will get home safely.
I have heard many say that eagles possess no emotions, is that from a scientific study or an observation. I would think they feel. It looks like they mourn when they depart from an unsuccessful nest, but that is just my observation...
Robynann--Speaking of Eagles having feelings: I watched the Kent Eagles as the first egg hatched and when the chick was free of the eggshell, the pair of Eagles looked at each other and actually touched beaks!! I could feel their pride!
I am certain that the biologist will tell you that the eagles have instincts but not humanistic feelings that we can relate to... Of course we know the real story....
Hey the ones that say any member of the animal kingdom doesn't have feelings are the crazy ones.. don't listen to them its a waste of time and you have more important things to do with your time, like watch Eagle Cams :)
Good Morning Glo---Since I found out about the Eagle Cam in Shepherdstown; started watching and joined your online family, I have become addicted to this site. Everytime I pass by my computer room, I have to stop in and take a peek. Sometimes I get so caught up in what I am viewing, I forget what I was doing and have to stand in the middle of my house for a few moments to remember where I was. Oh My!
GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES!!----I just watched the PA FALCONS---Isn't she a beautiful bird---YEAH! MITS--Appears there must be 2 hatched----Also--read LISA'S update on JUSTICE & MAJESTY---Eldest--female---she says first hatched is usually female---I guess---JO--SPUNKY must have be male---small body---& I so want him to be FEMALE!!----you think she could be a small female---ho! ho!--WHICH EVER!!!------SHE W/ALWAYS BE IN MY THOUGHTS----SHE IS WOMAN---SEE HER SOAR!!!!
GLO---I agree with you---The EAGLES & EAGLETS at NCTC certainly recognized us last summer!!!!---The minute we arrived---They began to SOAR HIGH & LOW---What an "Air Show"----I TRULY BELIEVE THEY KNEW WE WERE THERE!!!!---SPUNKY FLEW IN THE NEST WITH A FISH & WOULD NOT LET THE OTHERS IN THE NEST!!!--We CHEERED him on!!!!!
Now that is the fun part watching them practice taking off and branching...it is good to see, to know that they will be beautiful full grown eagles someday...Jo, I'm sure VA will move the cam accordingly
As Suzanne would say about this time of day Time for me to Hit the Road But for me it means Get dressed for the day & get out & do something to make it a good one! BBL

Well, I'm finally back on the zoo cam, and, they must be working on their cams, because like Jo said they are showing a video from Tai's younger days.

Hi everyone
Good eagle evening. There are two red tailed hawk sites on beakspeak.com/birdcams; one is in New York City and the other is in Portland, Oregon. I really don't know if that is the one they are talking about as I haven't been on here much the last few days.
Eagle Alert!!!
One bird in nest and now gone! ;9
Boy was that a short visit; didn't stay too long. Must have had that long visit earlier in the day. I didn't have enough time to tell which one it was.
You have mail Dana.
Hey Jo. How did your day go?
Hi Candy I missed it! Doubt if they will be back. I did put am pics in Momsters... Weather has been great up here - Cools down in the evening....
What did you do, Candy. Sneak in to the computer.......... lol
My day went very well - nothing out of the ordinary went on! Outer Banks- ever run into a family by the name of Newhouser? Going to feel really weird if you say yes.
You said it Jo. Both were out grilling a london broil so I sneaked into the room to watch the nest and do a little catch up.
I have been thinking about Suzanne and her poor cat all day. I hope all goes well for her.
Sorry Jo, just checked the telephone book and there is no Newhouser even listed here. Is that a relative of yours?
There has been such an influx of people down here since I moved here in 1982, that it is hard to know anyone anymore. Tooooo crowded, and now the summer season begins.
I just hated it that she had sooooo far to travel to get the help she needed. That vet is down by Mits from what I read on the early blog.
Let's see if this works so you can see Suz's feline friends. When & IF it opens, scroll down to the photos
Suzanne's Photobucket Album
Remember after you click on the link & view the page to Hit the Green Back Arrow to come back to the blog
It is a beautiful cat. Hey, you are getting to be quite the computer person with your links! Congratulations.
Did I read that Jim told you how to do that or not? That really is nice.
Is there an eagle on the bottom right of the nest?
Oh, I guess it is a false alarm. It sue looked like a black body with a white head and beak
I've been thinking about Suz and Pharoah all day, The place that she is going to is when the regular vet needs help in the diagnosis and more involved treatment.
The vets are all specialist, took my dog Buddy ther, when he had a liver problem
I guess I am just seeing ghost eagles. Now I feel like a nut case.
Hi Mits. How did your dog make out at this place?
WHOO HOO!!!
BLACKWATER IS TO BE CONGRATULATED ON THEIR FIRST OSPREY EGG
Blackwater Osprey Page
My kids got a kick out of watching the panda snoozing and moving today in class. Parents come in in the morning and ask what I have it on. So now maybe the kids will go home and be watching at home too. It is better than some things on the tv or video games.
EAGLE ALERT
ONE IN OUR NEST
No, Candy you're not going blind!
They sure do. The egg is very visible. Guess the nest has been claimed and things will calm down there now. That is good.
Eagle on nest
Hi Mits.
Guess our eagles are finished playing games in the darkness & have found thier branch for the night.
Well that didn't last long. :( My husband and friend are back in the house, so I had better be on my way. I did, at least, see the nest visited, if only for a short while. It has been nice to talk to you all for a second. All have a good night
Hopefully I can get on tomorrow. Everyone have a good night and a better tomorrow. Hopefully we will get some good news from Suzanne on Monday.
See ya, Candy.
I am out for about 2 hrs....
BBL
Thank you carolinabeachmom for the help with the place to find the hawk. (smiles)
I'm so happy BW osprey have an egg.....
Wow, just logged onto the blog, thought I was in the wrong place!
Howdy ALL!
Back from California, looks like it's been a busy week. Just popping in for a few minutes to say Hi!
Oh, cool. BW Osprey eggs! How many? How many chicks at Kent? 2? When were they hatched?
I'm gonna bet on the $9000 horse.
Welcome home, Paula! Can't wait to hear all about your trip!
Thanks, Sunny. Had an awesome week. Probably take me a month to go thru and load up all the pictures I took. The drive up Route 1 from LA to San Fran was absolutely gorgeous! WELCOME HOME PAULA
Didn't think you would get in early enough to see us tonight. Great that your home safe and that you really did have a BLAST! Started an album for your pics over on Momsters with one or two pics from the IWS blog of you.
Great to have you home!
I met a whole bunch of people from the IWS forum, online buddies and now real buddies!
Did you bring Beanie home to Emmitsburg?
Beanie made it home safely! Got pictures of him everywhere!
Jo, did you or someone else send me instructions on how to do the link on here? I had heard of tinyurl, but didn't know it worked on here.
I will send by email
Jim found out about it...
Thanks, Jo. I did read about that earlier this week.
How many chicks at Kent - 2?
Paula This is one for you
Paula's CA Album
2 chicks at KENT
1 chick at Puget Sound (still an egg there)
1 egg on the Osprey nest at BW
All cams up & operating ok (NE & VA)
Thanks, Jo, that's pretty cool!
Thanks for the update Jo. The eaglets at Kent hatched like Monday?
Paula, I think Kent 1 was Monday, and Kent 2 on Tuesday.
Yes, Kent 1st egg hatched Mon 4/30
Sunny is correct: 2nd egg Kent hatched May 1st.
Wow, usually they are further apart than that...should be a good thing for the chicks,
The forum at Kent said they were laid
one day after the other which is unusual.
It is getting doubtful that that 2nd egg at Puget Sound is going to be fertile. 1st chick is more then a couple days old and doing well. Forum also said this nest always runs late...
Lisa said she lost one of the eaglets for 30 mins the other day on the cam. They suspect he was branching...
Wow, branching already!
Good evening, all....
I could not get to this site this evening...cam or blog...for several minutes; so I tried another link with the "B" in front that I thought came here.

Later.... Have a good weekend.
Jim
I forgot temporarily....
Welcome back, Paula. It looks like you had a great time on the Islands.
Good evening, Mema Jo, Mits, Sunny and company.
Jim
Sharon or Mits may still have the dead George picture for you to investigate. I'll check mine but don't think I kept it. Mits thought it was a frog at first - sorta looked like it but it was dark at the nest.
DUH! I have been checking the Puget Sound cam and trying to catch a feeding or at least the adult off the chick... I just realized that the cam is frozen and has been since 11:56:33
Take a look at the way one of the BW Eagle chicks is spread out ... camera has frozen for the night, so you can't miss it.
Jim
Good Night All
Peace Be With You & Yours
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE Welcome back, Paula
Jo, I did the same thing with the PS nest..
OK all well good night and enjoy your weekend.
Guess I'll shut 'er down for the night (unless night owl Mema Jo is still up), since I'm still on CA time :)
Night all, and see you tomorrow!
Hi, Glo...I must have been drunk...wish I was, sometimes it helps on a Friday.
I did go to your site, but it might be out of use...the slideshow was actually from April 6, 2007!!
At least there was mating going on.
here’s what I saw
Jim
I was first on this thread this morning, and I might be the last this evening...
GOOD NIGHT/GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE....
I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND.
Jim
Jim was first and last for yesterday. I am first for today. Nothing going on. Going to get more sleep
Good morning, everyone,
No eagles now, but there's a strange white piece of something in the nest, which has moved somehow in the last quarter hour...maybe the morning newspaper.
Perhaps more sleep for me as well.
Jim
Eagles in nest...cam might be frozen again.
Jim
Eagles have departed.
I got some pics, but the cam (or my system) didn't refresh for extended periods...
I think I will go back to bed..maybe I'm not refreshing.
Jim
Good Saturday Morning to you all
I quess everyone is sleeping in.
Breakfast over at Kent--Mom sitting on chicks now.
Blackwater Ospreys are both in nest and I don't see the egg!! Must be the way the light is falling on the nest. Hope so.
The BLOG that is updated very regularly is For the Love of Eagles
Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen,
Looks like a fine day here in Martnsburg but they are calling for rain later.
Good Saturday Morning to All
Great job Wanda letting me know what was or was not going on this morning. I am going to open emails & surf the cams. Not sure what I am going to get into today.. Be back.
Hi Robyn - go over to the BW site and click on the left for the Eagle Cam Web Log that Lisa updates. Interesting info there for you.
GOOD SATURDAY MORNING, HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO, AND HAPPY RUN FOR THE ROSES, KENTUCKY DERBY DAY. there think I have all the festivities covered for the day...Thank you, Wanda and great job keeping us up to date around the nests this a.m.
:)
Robynann--Speaking of Eagles having feelings: I watched the Kent Eagles as the first egg hatched and when the chick was free of the eggshell, the pair of Eagles looked at each other and actually touched beaks!! I could feel their pride!
PS cam still down, PA mom falcon, some think there may have been a 2nd hatch.
Cinco de Mayo to you all---Good morning Mits and Jo.
I am certain that the biologist will tell you that the eagles have instincts but not humanistic feelings that we can relate to... Of course we know the real story....
Costume Lady I have picture of that :)
Hey the ones that say any member of the animal kingdom doesn't have feelings are the crazy ones..
don't listen to them
its a waste of time and you have more important things to do with your time, like watch Eagle Cams :)
Both eaglets visible in the BW nest
Earlier I couldn't find either one..
I haven't checked VA cam yet
I can see more discarded eggs shells at PA.
Oh My!
Wanda - you're a true
Eagleholic
Glad you joined us!
The CO chicks are really getting big, only saw 2 chicks at VA, the other must be branching
There are 3 in the nest mits, I was worried because I only saw two, she is laying with her head hidden beind the limb.
Not sure I will be able to watch when they start branching
I am hoping that the VA cam will capture the eaglet as it branches by getting a long range view of the tree-that would be cool to see
GLO---I agree with you---The EAGLES & EAGLETS at NCTC certainly recognized us last summer!!!!---The minute we arrived---They began to SOAR HIGH & LOW---What an "Air Show"----I TRULY BELIEVE THEY KNEW WE WERE THERE!!!!---SPUNKY FLEW IN THE NEST WITH A FISH & WOULD NOT LET THE OTHERS IN THE NEST!!!--We CHEERED him on!!!!!
Good AM Norma!
Our Spunky -
SHE should be doing well with HER personality.
BBL
Been thinking about Suzanne and her cat...hope things turn out ok.
