Thank you Steve for the New Thread. So you took the snow from here with you out there did you.
Good Morning My Eagle Friends.
Our 30second cam is working 9:46amEST Live feed not.
In the BW eagle nest sometimes a chick is not fully under the parent. Getting more air.
Norfolk Va has been very interesting this morning. Really was listening for under herself. Then checking. Wasn't like turning. So I don't know if we have a chick just yet or not. Last big action was 9:26amEST.
Okie dokie thanks Mits for answering me. I've been watching her all morning. So have they with moving the cam back and forth, in and out. Guess today or tomorrow will be a chick.
Last year Norfolk VA hatched their egg on the 38th day of incubation. TODAY IS THE 38TH DAY....after the first egg hatch we still have 2 more to go in Norfolk VA.
Hello Mits and Dana. I just got back in. Been down at Thelma's visiting. Been working on upgrading my computer a little bit and it is going pretty well.
I know Mits since our WV 3rd egg was laid on Feb 12 you count backwards different days for the other 2 eggs that were laid. You have chicks popping up this weekend, week of 3/11-3/17 or 3/18-3/24. WOW
Hello, everyone. Naked babies at BW. think parents have gone to the party? Mits I worry about Tai being lonely and not so playful. I gather that that the adults are together all the time now? Do you think he is all right?
Yes, Sandra I do think he is fine. If he were in the wild he would truly be all alone til he was old enough to breed, he was putting on a show for the visitors this a.m. and when they bring him in at night he seems perfectly content to have the treats and bamboo all to himself. Mom and Dad are together all day now. Meeting at zoo on Wednesday night with Laurie the giant panda keeper, so, MTBR.
No, Dana, the young pandas would not be hanging out together in the wild...pandas are solitary animals. They hang out together at the refuge centers in China.
I guess we will just have to wait for an update from the VA biologist for confirmation of a new chick, they have been trying all day to look into the nest.
Hi & Bye again quickly. Back home just in time to get ready to go to Mass. Afternoon was lovely!
Looking at VA cam - you're right Mits! We'll need the biologists to give us the word on the chick(?) Unless we see a feeding There for a few minutes the Va cam had the shakes! I thought it was from a wind storm....
Beautiful day for Megan & Paula - so glad the rain that was forecasts never came. Anxious to see if they met Lisa.
There is a hatch at norfolk Just took pictures of the little head popping up and down. Home tomorrow evening late, helping my daughter with som ephotos and thought i'd load Norfolk and watch while sitting at the computer. Watched that little head pop up several times. Will be on the fTLOE Blog this evening.
Looks like there is food in the nest also when it comes time to feed the chick. The little head looked pretty dry, so maybe she (?) has been there for awhile.
Well Sharon I would say it is pretty darn sweet. FilmLoop is laready on the For the Love of Eagles blog..just click on my name to get there if you are new and didn't know my FTLOE abbreviation. Back to work now with lots more photos but of course these photos aren't of eagles...but they too are pretty darn sweet.
Back home and settled in! Great News! Hopefully I'll catch a glimpse when daylight breaks tomorrow at the VA fuzzy! Glad you captured it Glo. I was hoping to hear from Megan this evening about their trip to BW. Well, next big event should be a hatching in OUR nest! Whoo Hoo!
Good evening dear ones, It is so nice and quiet here. I miss the little rug rats, but they are all back to their parents. I enjoyed them, b ut am ready to go back to work so I can REST. I can hardlyu wait for our babies to hatch. Sharon or anyone else have any names they are thinking of for them. Love to all of you donna
Howdy, Howdy! Back from Blackwater, Megan and I had a great day! The place was mobbed. They had a wonderful turnout. And no, we couldn't find Lisa! We tried! Took way too many pictures! The eagle festival was great....saw a zillion eagles, and yes, we got to see an osprey today, too! Also, we think we got to see the golden eagle that has been hanging around there too.
Hope everyone had a wonderful day! Going to try to go pick out the best of the pictures....
Well, welcome home to the happy Eaglet Momsters. Great to hear from you Paula - Just know the pics will be great.
Hi Mits! Hubby already set the clocks up - It's not as late as I think, but it will be tomorrow morning. I heard about the VA chick. Looked as though Sharon, Dana and Kate were on hand to see the little fuzzy head pop up! Oh yes, Glo did get some clear pics.
Belle is facing 12 noon;however, she just tucked her head under her wing. Said is was a misty rain there. Earlier it looked as though she was tenting over the eggs.
Nothing was going on at the Kent nest before dark.
I am going to call it a day... Already turned the clocks ahead. I need to rethink what time it is out on the west coast - I guess it is for now a 4 hr difference!......
Good Night All Pleasant dreams & peaceful sleep Prayers being said for all
GOOD A.M. EAGLE BUDDIES----OH--OH--WHAT A BEAUTIFUL A.M.---That little VA BEAUTY reaching up for food from MOM----I checked her yesterday & I thought she was acting "funny"---(lack of a better word)----Little eaglets are going to be everywhere---LIFE IS GOOD!!
HELLO---SHARON---DANA & PAULA!!!---Bet PAULA & FLORAGIRL have lots to tell us about their day at BW----Must get dressed & have to visit my friend----LATER!!
We got to Blackwater about 10 am. We went into the Visitor for a quick trip to the bookstore (I had to get my eagle earrings!), then we went outside where they had the tents set up.
In and around the tents, they had some kids activities, like building the bird house. It was a really nice bird house! Megan and I would both liked to have built one!
They had all the different owls outside with their handlers. The screech owl was so tiny!
The first program we saw outside was the peregrine falcons. The guy had worked with them since he was 13 years old. He brought in 3 falcons. One he was rehabilitating. His name was Mason, and he had fledged from the Legg Mason building in Baltimore last year and was injured later last year. He hopes to release him next year.
After that show, we went on the eagle prowl. This is where they take a couple of vans (we had 3 10 passenger vans and a suburban) and go to points along wildlife drive and try to spot eagles. We got to see a pretty good amounnt of eagles...we were out there for at least 1 1/2 hours....
After the eagle prowl, we ate lunch and then saw the captive bald eagle they brought to the festival. She was a female from Charles County MD that was found with an injured wing. It was dislocated and didn't heal properly. She is about 12 years old, they think. She was gorgeous. And huge. Their talons are bigger than you think. She hasn't really been handled too much, so she kept trying to get off the perch, although she liked to keep one talon on the glove of the guy who was handling her.
The tent was really packed for that part of the festival...finally it cleared out some, and we got to get really close to her. She would call sometimes when she was upside down, trying to get back on the perch. The guy must have taken about a zillion questions about eagles....he was very nice. Of course, we stayed in that tent until they put her back into the carrier, which looked like a really extra large dog carrier.
After that we checked out the visitor center again. The upstairs is really cool w/ 3 spotting scopes and the displays. We were also hunting for Lisa, but never managed to connect!
Then we took another drive down Wildlife drive, doing our own eagle prowl. I would have to say this was the best part of the day. We took our good ol' time and were able to spot a ton of eagles. We had to have seen over 30. Also, we did see the eagle nest that is on the cam!
Would you believe there were a bunch of crazy people camped out along the road....looking at the nest! Imagine that :)
Paula it sure sounds like you and Megan's day was terrific. So glad it was. Oh to see that eagle up close; what an experience.
Yes BW parent was acting so strange. Knew a chick was hatching because of the way the parent kept looking under her. Laying on the eggs and turning her head like she was hearing something. Wawla about 5:13pm right before I was going out. She got up an a dry little head moved around. So precious. After watching all day for the event I was happy I got to see it.
I tried to take a pic. I can't seem too. GLo will have to tell me how she takes a pic at the VA site.
I think Chubs at BW said to Tiny, "I'll keep you warm" squesh lol. Tiny had alot of wiggling to get out from under. I see he managed because he is sitting up. lol
Just a quik note to say hello, been in the hospitol really bad angina attack's, feeling ok now. Glad you had a great time Paula & Megan... Hope all the well with everyone, Nilla
Sorry Nilla they must find out if one of your medicines is causing that. Avainda for diabetics does.
Please you must go to Maine eagle page. Click on eagle forum. Look for "2nd egg laid" there is a link there click on that. Oh my goodness a video shows her laiding the 2nd egg. IT IS A MUST WATCH !!!!

Okie dokie thanks Mits for answering me. I've been watching her all morning. So have they with moving the cam back and forth, in and out. Guess today or tomorrow will be a chick.

Mits you haven't missed anything that hasn't been going on there. Same thing the parent keeps going down into the nest hole like they have been doing.
I think I have a name for the 2 eagles at BW 1st born is Chubs 2nd born is Tiny lol
Good names, Dana:).
Lots of those brood spot feathers all around at VA.
Not going to see anything with that butt facing the cam at VA.

Its a balmy 63° here in Bethesda, Maryland!
Its 59° at Cambridge, Maryland, breezy with winds out of the south, nice day for Paula and Megan at BW, can't wait to hear about their adventures:).
Adult and both juvies at CC...wonder when they will fledge?
If this worked I am encouraging "spring" to come. Especially since we are having nice weather.
In this area spring is short-lived, usually goes right to summer.
BOTH EAGLES AT VA.
nO SWITCH AT VA.
EAGLES AT KENT.
Chicks in view at BW.
Mits in the wild wouldn't the young pandas play together?
Yes BW has been letting the chicks get the warmth from the sun. Since it is nice temperature.
Vulture at BW Osprey
Moved camera back on VA and both was in the tree. Then the one flew out that was beautiful. That was really enjoyable. BIG NEST !
No, Dana, the young pandas would not be hanging out together in the wild...pandas are solitary animals. They hang out together at the refuge centers in China.
Ah, the familiar, yet dreaded window shades seem to be back on "our" cam.
I guess we will just have to wait for an update from the VA biologist for confirmation of a new chick, they have been trying all day to look into the nest.

We spent about 2 hours along Wildlife drive. At the end we think we saw the golden eagle that has been spotted down there.
We also got to see plenty of heron, and those white pelicans on our earlier trek down the drive.
We pretty much closed the place down! We didn't even head home till the sun went down!
We really had a terrific day. Even if you don't go down for a festival or open house, The refuge is just magnificent!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE Paula and Megan, glad you had a wonderful day at the refuge. It is a beautiful place.
Looks like the osprey came to the eagle festival, nice pic on BW site.
Yup, we got to see one perched along Wildlife drive...then he took off.
Watching the Blackwater chicks on the live feed at the visitor center was really cool!
Paula it sure sounds like you and Megan's day was terrific. So glad it was. Oh to see that eagle up close; what an experience.

I just looked at what you said about the fish. Yes it is your right.
Been watching our nest now. Since we don't know when the 1st or 2nd eggs were laid.
I think Chubs at BW said to Tiny, "I'll keep you warm" squesh lol. Tiny had alot of wiggling to get out from under. I see he managed because he is sitting up. lol
A feeding at BW. The parent always seems to make sure "both" get something to eat.
Look at those "big eyes" looking for his food. So cute
