We've all been watching today's nest action. We are figuring the restless behavior of the female is due to one of two things.
First and hopefully, She senses that an egg will soon hatch.
Second, and hopefully not in our future, is that she is sensing that the eggs are not going to hatch and she getting ready to give up.
Keep watching.

I think she thinks an egg is ready to HATCH!!!!----THANKS FOR THE NEW THREAD----WE ARE PRAYING!!!---STAY COOL---
Sunny, I'm with you.I am going to cry either way. I, too, am praying for a hatchling. donna
yep remains hard to not see that eaglet. Have actually been keeping the kleenex quite handy here.... she is communicating something definitely though in her own eagle way.
She is doing every thing an expecting MOM should do---Getting the nest straightened up---Rearranging the grass & moving a few sticks, etc.----SURE APPEARS AS IF SHE MIGHT BE EXPECTING GUESTS!!!!----We hope "WEE" guests!!!!
I looked up ramps in 1-click answers.....
AHHH! wild onions!
Good to learn something new every day!
Well I was over posting on the other thread...Belle was just up and out of the nest....appears to be chasing something again....like she has done for the last several days....2 eggs in full view...still looked pretty solid.
I don't think she will give up that soon, Steve.
CAROL---I went back to watch the EAGLET SLICE & saved it as a favorite----Grand kids will love that one!!!!
GEULA---You would love RAMPS---They have big ramp feeds every where in WV----They are served with other foods---Not my favorite---But people come from all the surrounding states to eat them----They taste a lot like fried onions------only a lot more potent---- The bad thing is---The odor stays with you for days after you eat them!!!---NOW YOU HAVE A REASON TO COME SEE THE EAGLES & THEN YOU CAN EAT SOME RAMPS!!!! ho! ho!
RAMPS. My grandmother used to make a salad using ramps, dandelions, ham pieces, and boiled eggs. She insisted that ramps be baby ramps and not parboiled. My favorite was lettuce, onions, and mustard "killed" by pouring on boiling hot grease drippings, with a hoe cake (fried corn bread) makes my mouth water.
Oh Yes, definitely DH must eat ramps, too.
It must not be time for the hatching yet... For sure, Belle would be insisting that Liberty be standing by for the Big Event!!!
With all the uncertainty of "our" nest it is nice to get distracted by the 2 new eggs out at PUGET SOUND and the return of the osprey up in Connecticut:). Never have had a ramp, but always look forward to Vidalia season:).
MITS how did you find out how many eggs are in the Puget Sound nest?
I am going to pass on the Ramps - I love dandelions, bacon, and boiled eggs with a boiled sauce!
Thanks Steve for keeping in touch with us - So praying for a chick or two!
Norma Like you thoughts about expecting WEE guests!
I thought I had sent you pics of them, Norma, check your e-mail.
I like ramps.
All 3 cameras are now listed on WildWatchCams in the drop box but you bring them up individually not all 3 at once for which we have a link.
Is there anyone who is watching our Eagle Cam thinking that the pic is maybe frozen.....?
Steve Is our cam froze
HA HA
She just moved her head!!!
I have thought that a couple of times today, Jo
Carol the temp in Norfolk is 80°.
Oh goodness, this is so hard playing this waiting game out!!! Poor Belle
Well, the eagles can't count....so she has no clue what she's doing to us....
Leaving for about 2 hours...BBL
I think my 30 second came is refreshing every 30 minutes.
The cam is working. She is very still with the rain.
Geez, I'm keeping my talons crossed for a little one to hatch soon. Ever since the snow storm last weekend, I've been on pins and needles waiting to see these other eggs hatch. Thanks to Paula for posting this link on the Santa Cruz eagles discussion board. C'mom babies...we're pulling for you!
Thank you, Steven and Mamimoba Mom:).
Thanks, Mamimoba :)
Thank you Paula for answering my question about the missing egg. That is so sad. As I said, I only get on now and then to look at the eagles and read your blogs. The eagles seem to be having a hard time of it this year.
Your welcome, Beachmom.
Hello all my eagle buddies. I see we have a new thread. I am praying really hard to see an eaglet soon. This is where my heart is when it comes to eagles. Everywhere else is secondary.
Been a busy day for me. Left at 9:30 this morning and just got back home. Mattie and I have had a wonderful day!
It is 74° and clear in Bluefield. This has been a beautiful day. I really needed a beautiful day!
Paula, you have mail
And no one deserves a beautiful day more than you, Sharon:).
I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't be light-hearted on the blog just now, but I just looked at the Connecticut osprey nest and I think they are bringing in the heavy duty lumber. It just made me smile to know life goes on in the predator world.
Big yellow feet are abounding at BW :)
Lots of action in the VA nest.
We have to have some lightheartedness right now, Mits, or we will all go nuts!
Well there was alot of action, they can stop and drop in a flash.
LOL, you are right Mits. Looks like eagle lala land!
Thanks, Sharon. In spite of what is happening at "our" nest, the Shepherdstown eagles have opened up a whole new world to me. If it hadn't been for this one nest, I never would have found my way around to other eagle, falcon and osprey nests around the country and world. Also a fringe benefit is meeting so many nice people along the way:).
And just as quick, they are up again in VA....panting, wobbly eaglets - you just gotta love 'em!
VA mom is trying to grab a quick snack behind the chicks backs.
lol, they are trying to turn around to see what she is eating.
Heading Home..see ya later!
PA FALCON is in the nest box. Looks like she is seriously thinking of doing something. She is doing some vocalizing.
Well. she left the nest box and is on the pole.
Star is in the KENT nest.
Looks like raindrops on Star.
Has anyone seen her off the eggs since 2?
I just now noticed that Steve corrected the time on the blog, we are now on EST.
I have not seen her off the eggs at all this afternoon.
Still mating out in KENT.
Off the eggs, think she is eating
She just hopped back on them
Now she is tenting.
hi again....She was off the eggs a while ago and I saw one egg and a "thing" next to it...not sure what is was...
Now she's tenting...
HOPE?
At CC it looks like one of the chicks is starting to branch-hop.
When I saw Belle off the nest a few minutes ago, it looked like one of the eggs was partially buried.
At Norfolk, one of the chicks was picking at a fish tail on his/her own while Mom was feeding the other two. They're growing up and the older two are starting to get their 2nd coat of down.
I put 3 pics on Momsters - I am not going to speculate....
Geula,
Are you up past your bedtime?
well, yes it IS past my bedtime....LOL! but I'm an Eaglet Momster addict, sooooo....I sit and wait...
Dad is feeding in Va
Awww, Geula, bless your heart for staying up soooo late:).
You'd better hurry up and grab that food when Dad is offering it, or he'll eat it himself!
He's feeding Littlest Eaglet a lot :)
It IS time for me to say good night....my nose just hit the keyboard.....OUCH!
Have a grand rest of the day and MAWOY!
I just looked at the pics, Paula, and something looks different, but like you it is hard to tell...had the old magnifying glass out, but it is just wishful thinking on my part.
Chicks are done eating, time for VA Dad to get himself a little dinner...walked over to right side of nest, dug up something and started eating on it...believe it was chunk of fish...now back to eating next to chicks, he is offering, but they are full.....well one just took some.
For those of you fairly new to the blog...Geula lives in Israel, so that's why Paula and I were surprised to see her on the blog this late.
Probably those eggs under the grass like Kate said.
Yes, Kateaz, I've been watching the CC eagles today.
As I return for the evening I would have loved the surprise of our egg(s) being a chick; however, I am surprised by seeing our ever faithful eagle buddy, Geula- I love it and have missed her telling us MAWOY! Second surprise is seeing
MaMiMoBa Mom here with us! Being a lurker on IWS, I welcome you and really appreciate your being with us!
lol...Dad just dangled some fish over the chicks heads, they reached and he ate it himself....HELLO, JO
Those VA eaglets still eating when Dad is still offering :) Little piglets there too!
LOOKS FOGGY AT OUR NEST.
I saw that too, Mits.
Mom just flew in.
Mom just arrived back in VA
Hey everyone!
I hope we have an eaglet under there. I know she's been doing a LOT of rearranging.
Keeping my fingers crossed for the best.
I guess our cam is updating...got lines on it now...but haven't seen eagle move at all.
Eaglets all by themselves at VA
Yep, the dreaded lines are always on time....going to fix dinner...no wait, hubby just called in a Friday night traffic jam.
no parents at the nest.. 1 egg clearly.. not sure about anything else.. it's too foggy to tell.
I'm only seeing 1 egg now, going to look at pics I took
It is foggy in Shepherdstown, I only see one egg. I'm watching with you, just too tired to comment much.
definitely 1 egg in there. I don't see anything else in the nest. =\
One of my 1st pics showed 2 eggs, the last pic showed one, some grass could have blown on it during the landing.
Sandy I'm with you, have a headache now just watching so intently.....how are things going at your home???
I just saw the eagle move off the nest and only one egg left there. Could one possibly have hatched?
It would really be hard to tell now, with the darkness coming on and our cam does not do well at night.
I don't think we'll be seeing much more tonight, as the fog and the eagle spirits close in. Things are much the same, Mits, I'm spending a lot of time trying to set up some home help, and visitors for Mother as we prepare for what probably will be more surgery for Tom. At least spring is in the air; that helps.
They probably changed duty for the night. It is getting harder to see. Hopefully there will be a baby in the morning light!
Pics are in the Momsters album from Paula & Mits (6pm & 7pm)
What you see as far as the eggs in that time sequence...??? I agree that in the morning light all will be revealed!
Anyone take a pic of Belle tenting today in the rain?? Missing one for the album
Ya know, it was kinda hard watching her do that and I made a decision not to take it...sorry
No problem - I understand what you are saying.
NY gals coming down 81 - should be here around 9:30 - I'll probably jump in the car and go welcome them at their other Mema's where they stay.
Eagle still in Kent nest.
View the Kent Nest...There just may be an egg
Heading out to walk the dogs, rain or no rain. Going crazy watching the cam. Daylight will tell all. LOL, it's been raining and radar showed it was clear as day - HA!
There is an egg at Kent
YAHOO
Mits take a pic & send to Loraine!
LOL - you said it Jo! They finally have an egg at Kent!!!
Oh Boy Paula! Excitement for the Day
Hello! Just wondering if someone could post the website of the Va. nest that you are watching that has the eaglets? Also, some of you have mentioned that you've taken photos of the Shepherdstown nest with only 1egg. Where can I access those photos, or can't I? Thanks so much!
Nancy
I just saw one egg in our nest and am watching the Kent for their egg. Thanks Mema Jo!!
MaMiMoBa Mom
Go to beakspeak.com

Thanks Mema Jo! I'm on it!
Finally a little good news for the beloved EAGLES AT KENT.
Well Puget Sound laid there 1st egg on the 21st and there 2nd egg on the 22nd....maybe KENT we lay another tomorrow.
Suzanne will be happy on Monday a.m.
If you can email me your pics so I can put them on the momster group, since Mema Jo is headed out for a little while....Thanks :)
Sent you an invite, Nancy.
Or feel free to post them yourself....anyone can add a picture.
egg turning at KENT.
Probably her first of many turns, Mits :)
Good Night all, I have been lurking for the past couple of hours. Need to rest so I can get up ear4ly and hopefully be a momster again. Geula, good to hear from you. Kate, too. Welcome mommimmaba. Good night all,
I just noticed you can see cam3 in cam2's picture at Kent,...and they have all the cams on the page now, but cam 3 isnt working from their regular page yet....I get cam 2 for cam 3....and they don't have the 3 page autoload either.
Oh, it's the picture link that is messed up in Kent for cam3, the link in words works OK.
lol.......Can you run that by me again Paula.??????
I use the WDFW Auto-loading eagle page that Loraine had sent to me about 6 weeks ago, put that one on my favorites and never go over to the main page, except to see that they had put a March 2007 update.
I was just going to ask you all if you had seen the egg in the Kent nest, but I see you have.
I think they usually start in the last week of March, but it seems like they have been preparing for ever compared to some other pairs...glad they've started. Last year they only had the one eaglet, but I read somewhere that they have had 2 in the nest previously.
No chicks in Shepherdstown yet?? I think Belle was excited this morning because she is sensing the eggs are about to hatch, so we will probably see at least one eaglet soon.
Have a great weekend, everyone...
Jim
Night everyone. Hopefully we will have a little fuzzball in the morning. I do know that only one egg was left by late this evening, but it was getting dark and it was too difficult to tell.
Maybe we'll get really lucky and have 2 little fuzzy ones tomorrow. Here's hoping.
Spirit has arrived at the branch
Dad has arrived at Kent to check on Mom
I see Kent's time is also wrong....
Been wrong since the time changed.
Their sunset was 10 mins ago.
Wonder how long you will be able to see her white head in the nest tonight?
Wonder if they have a party at Loraine and Gary's house when the 1st egg is laid?
And as Star's head slowly fades into the darkness I bid you all a GOOD NIGHT
Yup, she is fading out of here, Good night, Mits...
Been trying to catch Lib moving in the nest....but think he is catching some zzzzz's. Off to bed myself, see ya'll in the morning...
Good Night All
Pleasant dreams and peaceful sleep
Prayers for all - especially for
little fuzz balls in our nest
Normabyrd
It is a small small world. I grew up behind Dr. Wolfe's parents. We used to play baseball in their vacant lot. Keith is a wonderful person. Haven't seen him in about 18 years tho. Is he still in Winchester? I know he was there in 99 when my dad was ill. I never got to see him but my dad would tell me he had been there. From what I understand he is a great Dr. as well.
Carol,
I know exactly where Upper Tract is. My father used to go to Harrisonburg once a week on business and we would tag along sometimes to go shopping. Plus I took some classes at JMU. My cousins former mother in law married one of the Mowery's and lives up there some where. Can't think of the road name now turns off to the left and they had a bunch of chicken/turkey farms back there. I could probably take you right to it but can't tell you how to get there.
Not sure what is going on...
I think the eggs are gone.
Where are the eggs?
NOt sure if that was Belle or Lib, but they came back to look where the eggs were...and back again
The one that came back was checking out that funny looking double white spot...I don't know if that is egg shell or something else.
I really hate this. I am so sorry that this happened but if it had to be I am just glad that we didn't have to watch them sit there day after day knowing that the would never hatch.
I just looked back at the series of pictures I took,
I saw Belle in the nest when Sunny commented, but didn't take a picture.
Went and took a shower, and when I cam back, the eagle was off the nest cup, right over the bowl. It appeared to me they took a piece of egg shell out of the bowl, then they walked around to far right trunk and took off.
Came back and appeared to be eating something at the base of the trunk closest to the cam.
Took off and then came back again. Looked down in the egg cup area. Took off again, to the left.
Came back again, and was inspecting the broken egg shell in the nest...and yes it looked different...then eagle left again.
back again right now
Looks like Liberty at the nest now...sitting in his favorite spot at noon.
Sorry, that's all I can say, Lib just left and I am $%$# crying.
lots of tears here this morning :(
I am thankful we didn't have to sit through any more days of wondering if the eggs would hatch. I don't think I could have taken it. I am so sad. We never know what mother nature has in store for us. This year it was sorrow.
I know that it won't be like watching ours but I am glad that there are other sites that we can watch and enjoy. I love watching the 3 little ones in VA
Well I too could no longer watch them sit through all kinds of weather to lose their little ones this year. Lots of love flowing today and over the whole past week I am sure. They are young strong and wonderful. They will be back, and when they are, so will we. ((((((hugs))))) to whoever you are as you read this. There are no words to say to Lib and Belle so I guess somewhere I have to pray they know that they are NOT alone. They have not been since the first day we saw them, and they will not be as the days pass til we see them again in a much happier place.
When I got here, more than an hour ago, there was one egg in the nest...I came to the blog and when I got back to the still cam, the egg was gone....::SIGH::
We knew that there was a possibilty that the eggs weren't viable because of the snowstorm. It doesn't make it any easier and I'll miss those Regal Eagles!
Sad in my heart but we will be okay through this. Nothing in God's world happens by mistake. I truly believe that. We will be alright though!!!
Maybe think about a vist to this place
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qGaAjD1khI
I think it might in its own way help a little.....
I think spunks cousin just might be here....
The Florida eagles sat on the eggs for 50-some days. Really grateful we are not watching that.
It is a sad thing to happen ... although it is already done now, when I am viewing this.
I hope everyone is alright after the shock.
I hope there is still time to start a second clutch and for the young to still develop before next winter ... does anyone know if that is possible??
I'm sorry it had to happen, but it's one of those things that is out of the eagle pair's control and out of our control. Liberty and Belle did their best, but they got a bad break...
Jim
