Nice to see the sun shining in MD and VA, there were just 2 adults in Norfolk, chicks getting a bite to eat....looks like lots of good bloody stuff around the nest...NOrma was right, their nest is a mess!! LOL

HI PAULA & MITS----I think that JAMES RIVER FALCON is just BEAUTIFUL----She has those enticing EYES like the Australian Falcon----I didn't see the eggs??------MEANWHILE---BACK AT THE RANCH----Do we have TWO---JIM'S pics seems to show that---DANA & GLO have GREAT PICS too!---Haven't checked any others---
Its all speculation at this point, Norma, until, if and when the cam ever gets working properly.
OH---The "Little Prince" has his back to his admirers & "wolfing" down the BAMBOO---He must think they are going to take it away from him---ho! ho! (last time I checked)---

I think it's most interesting watching the OSPREY'S build their nest-----Will learn more about them---They are AWESOME birds too!!
The osprey are beautiful birds, it will be fun to watch them restore the nest. I have not see any osprey up in Connecticut or New Hampshire yet.

I like the way ospreys look like they are wearing white stockings.
They are looking good in VA, nice and strong.
GLO has a great video showing how "affectinate" the VIRGINA COUPLE seem to be---They were touching bills--preening each other etc.---Of course LIBERTY & BELLE could be doing the same & we wouldn't know it---ho! ho!---SORRY----MY COMPUTER has been giving me fits & I can't see the CAM!---
I checked in on CT the other day....saw a heron feeding down below, but nothing in the nest yet.
I never noticed that Paula, I'll have to check them out. Sure the North East osprey are a few weeks behind the eastern shore ones.

Good Late Morning Checked my emails and other cams. Disappointed as to what I see on our cam screen. I need to see the snow melting and get a look into that egg well. Jim's enhanced photo from yesterday is very interesting...There very well could be 2 little chicks down under - at least date wise!
Thanks Steve for the new thread and happy to hear you made it home safely thru the storm. I sure hope the cam gets reset because we think there are chicks for us to see!
ME is having a worst storm then what we did - that wind sounds like it could blow her out of the nest.

I don't see any eaglets down in the Cape Coral nest either, Mits. Not sure of their age - never saw a blog down there. Channel Is nests are all secured!

LOL, today was the first day ever I could get the CC nest to come up...other times it would hang up and wouldn't do anything! And the eaglets are gone! It figures!!

Don't give up on the CC site yet... the chicks are pretty big but I don't think they are quite ready to fledge and I haven't even seen them branch-hopping to practice. Just saw both chicks in the nest, plus one adult.
KATEAZ---I just watched CC--I thought I saw an adult eagle feeding 2 eaglets---Am I wrong---I check it out often--I think it is a beautiful nest---
Both, falcons are at the Shenadoah ledge.....Not giving up, Kateaz, this is when the fun begins, watching them fledge.

Unbelievable wind, rain, sleet and snow at MAINE.
MAINE EAGLE...just stood up and turned egg/eggs and almost got blown out of the nest, but she is a tropper.

I have a friend who works for the power company and I am going to steal (that is withdraw from circulation) his climbing cleats, shucks, I just might get his cherry picker, too. I am going to climb that sycamore tree and see if we have new babies. Now all of you get in line and we will go together. We will draw straws who goes first but first we get fresh fish for offerings and Sharon gets to set up her umbrella. Who is going with me. donna

Vicky I think you might be right. I know she sure has a lot of stamina. She is very workiefied, too. SHaron, I don't think workiefied is a word, but my daddy used to use it as a adjective for folks who could really get things done. Since floral girl is "workiefied" she is on the list. If Glo could get out the wet noodle and Mits help out, I bet Mema Jo would be sure to try to get us out of jail, Would we get SuzANNE and Steve in big trouble? There are lots of young women on here, some Dadsters, too. I used to think it would be a break to go to jail (when all of my children were very young) but my husband always said when young mothers got put in jail they had to take their kids with them and I was stupid enough to believe him. LOL
I have had little sleep the past two nights so I guess I am a little slap happy. B ut I wanted to tell you young girls the secret of a long marriage. Yikes, the PANDA CAMS are not working. Must have broken them when they were switching the cams around today to see the RED PANDAS.

That camera has really stymied us about every weekend so far this season...guess it's really the winter weather, but............
I don't suppose some of you ladies, who live near the nest, would take binoculars and cameras with long telephoto lenses, brave the frozen wastes of WV and pneumonia to see if Liberty and Belle are feeding chicks yet and whatever else is visible on-site??!
I don't even know if it is possible in the snow and ice ... just trying to brainstorm a little.
I'm fairly satisfied from yesterday's pics that there are two hatchlings now, and the third egg probably won't hatch until at least the 19th.
I think I'm going to call it a day for this purpose...see you all tomorrow bright and early.

I actually think that all 3 chicks will be sitting there waiting to make their debut when our cam comes up - probably Monday sometime! It is depressing - anxiety attack coming on.
I think that is Spirit up on the limb and just maybe Star could be down in the nest. Guess we'll know when daylight comes.
Glad the stormy weather in ME & at NE nest have calmed down. Couldn't get the NE nest up all day or yesterday - they say the weather will affect their cam.
It may be the effect of the BW infra red on the Osprey nest but it looks as though some grasses may have been brought in. It just doesn't look like it did with all the sticks.
DUH! ME! Just read Lisa's update about the osprey nest - Yep! they brought in sod and grass....

HOW LARGE IS OUR EAGLE FAMILY
Well, I can't stay very long. I am headed to Hedgesville WV - opposite direction of Shepherdstown.. for an unusual type of wedding shower. It is a Seed Shower - Holly is giving us seeds to plant for flowers that will be blooming & used at their outdoor wedding in July. Like Mits said, what ever happened to linens, mixers, blenders and the like? I do think it is a unique idea - but then what else would I expect from a unique grandson?

It is sad to see the cam frozen up at a crucial moment...no "Kodak moment" for sure.
Last night I processed the pic where Belle is clearing the snow from her wings, exposing the contents of her nest, through PictureIt again. I cropped and enlarged the egg cup area and tried to make it clearer...I am 100% sure the two shapes closest to the camera are NOT eggs.
They could be potatoes, but it is more likely that they are young hatchlings with heads and with wings tightly held against their bodies...
So, we know we have at least two WV chicks now.

Thanks - The last three at Pickering Creek are of an immature bald eagle who seemed to be following the mature eagle in the first shot. I've never been lucky enough to see a golden.

Lisa has an article concerning Golden Eagles on her update. The most interesting item is the GPS tracking of the injured Golden Eagles when released.

When we were at BW, there had been a golden eagle there that week. He was spotted during the eagle festival, and we were not sure whether we saw it on the way out of the refuge or not. A little hard to see at sunset, but it was in the group of trees it had been spotted in earlier in the day, and we coulnd't figure out what else it was.
Another superb entry by Lisa....going to go track a golden eagle now...
